  1. What would it take for you to put your trust in someone and follow them?

  2. For me, the reputation and credential of the person is an essential factor.

  3. Do the actions of those people match the words that come out from their mouth?

  4. But I think I relied on the witness and testimony of other people more.

  5. Does anyone that I know and trust also follow that person?

  6. What is their experience with that person?

  7. We'll be spending a few weeks in chapter 1 to 12 of the Gospel of John

  8. to read his testimony and witness about Jesus Christ.

  9. John wrote to show his readers the greatness of Jesus Christ.

  10. He warned us to see Jesus as glorious.

  11. By seeing his glory and examining the evidence of who he claims himself to be,

  12. John hopes that we'll become a believer and follower,

  13. in other terms, a disciple of Jesus.

  14. And as you follow Jesus,

  15. and when Jesus becomes more central to your life,

  16. your life will be abundant.

  17. Jesus himself also has the same aim in mind

  18. as he walked on this earth more than 2,000 years ago,

  19. and as he now sits by the right hands of our Heavenly Father

  20. to intercede for those who put their trust in him.

  21. He told his disciples that he had come

  22. so that his disciples may have life and have it abundantly.

  23. Today, as we continue in chapter 1 and 2 of John,

  24. let's look at Jesus' invitation to his very first group of disciples

  25. and two aspects of who Jesus is.

  26. You can find the outline in our St. Paul's app.

  27. Last week, our senior minister, Steve, encouraged us

  28. and invited us to look, to behold, to think,

  29. and gaze, ponder, understand, and get who Jesus is

  30. and what he has done.

  31. He ended the sermon with these two points.

  32. If you missed the preaching,

  33. I encourage you to look up the St. Paul's Chesswood channel on YouTube

  34. and to watch it again or go to our website to listen.

  35. Firstly, how much we will align our life with Jesus

  36. and grow in abundant life

  37. is directly proportional to how much we behold Jesus,

  38. look to Jesus, and understand Jesus.

  39. We will be filled with all the fullness of God

  40. as we grasp the breadth, length, height, and depth

  41. of the love of Christ.

  42. And to the degree that we grow in the abundant life

  43. is a degree that we too will be a voice

  44. to the greatness and goodness of Jesus Christ.

  45. We will see from today's passage

  46. how this proposition unfolds in two persons

  47. we will meet today.

  48. So please turn your Bible to John 1.35.

  49. John 1.35.

  50. When two of John the Baptist's disciples heard him referring to Jesus again,

  51. saying, look, the Lamb of God.

  52. They followed Jesus.

  53. And our passage shows us that

  54. Jesus took notice that they were following.

  55. In verse 38, it says,

  56. Jesus saw them.

  57. Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked,

  58. what do you want?

  59. I want us to pause and try to imagine

  60. what tone Jesus would use to ask this simple question.

  61. Whichever way I imagine,

  62. I still find the question,

  63. what do you want?

  64. A bit abrupt

  65. and challenging to say it in a friendly way.

  66. But it does not sound rude.

  67. When I hear the question,

  68. I can only think of the time

  69. when my kids are much younger

  70. and try to net me for something.

  71. And that's how I answer or question them.

  72. What do you want?

  73. There will be another one of this kind of interaction

  74. in the later part of our passage today.

  75. How are you going to read the Bible?

  76. How are you doing with reading the Bible?

  77. Nick mentioned about

  78. we encourage each other to read the Bible

  79. and build a habit of reading

  80. at least four or more times a week.

  81. Are you a morning reader?

  82. Reading your Bible in the morning?

  83. Or evening reader

  84. who has a Bible by your bed

  85. and read before you sleep

  86. or finish the day.

  87. Maybe you read the Bible during the day

  88. or maybe during lunchtime.

  89. As you read the Bible,

  90. how often would you pause and slow down?

  91. Especially if it's some kind of dialogue

  92. or passage that you have read before.

  93. Do you ever consider what tone of voice

  94. the people you are reading would use?

  95. I believe our own culture and background

  96. or whether we are reading the Bible

  97. in a language that is not our hard language

  98. may affect how we read the Bible.

  99. We need to take care

  100. not to read into what is in front of us.

  101. Something that may originate

  102. from our own culture and background

  103. that is not helpful,

  104. which may hinder us

  105. from seeing the complete picture.

  106. Pause and think.

  107. Pause to imagine.

  108. And use something like the app,

  109. the word one-to-one,

  110. which would be an excellent way of you

  111. to behold Jesus better.

  112. Pause and ask yourself,

  113. is the perception of Jesus

  114. really who he is?

  115. Or are you making Jesus

  116. into what you want him to be?

  117. I hope as you listen

  118. to this series of preaching

  119. from the first 12th chapter of John,

  120. you will see Jesus as who he is,

  121. not what you want him to be.

  122. Getting back to the question

  123. Jesus asked the two disciples

  124. of John the Baptist

  125. as he saw them following.

  126. Apart from the tone that he was used,

  127. which is maybe hard to conclude,

  128. we can also consider

  129. why Jesus took that moment

  130. to turn around and ask them,

  131. what do you want,

  132. after he saw them following.

  133. John Carson commented that,

  134. on one level,

  135. what do you want

  136. can be a straightforward narrative

  137. to invite them

  138. to articulate what is on their mind

  139. while following Jesus.

  140. However,

  141. it may also be

  142. John's intention

  143. to guide his reader

  144. to reflect

  145. on more profound questions.

  146. It might be that

  147. the word,

  148. the Logos,

  149. the Messiah

  150. who comes to take away

  151. the sin of the world,

  152. confronts those

  153. who make any show

  154. of beginning to follow him

  155. and demands that they articulate

  156. what they really want in life.

  157. When was the last time

  158. you think about such question,

  159. about what do you really want

  160. in your life?

  161. What do you really want

  162. from Jesus

  163. as you follow him?

  164. Why are you here

  165. at church on Sunday

  166. or any,

  167. on today

  168. or any other Sunday?

  169. They told Jesus that

  170. they want to know

  171. where Jesus was staying.

  172. These two disciples of John,

  173. they reply,

  174. demonstrate their intention

  175. to follow Jesus

  176. because at that time,

  177. unlike ancient China,

  178. students often move in

  179. to stay with their teachers

  180. so they want to check out

  181. where they're going to live

  182. later on.

  183. In today's term,

  184. asking where Jesus is staying

  185. is like us

  186. checking out

  187. our kids' school

  188. on orientation day

  189. or going to all week

  190. before you attend university.

  191. You want to check out

  192. the place,

  193. you want to check it out

  194. for your kids

  195. or yourself

  196. before taking the next step

  197. to be fully committed.

  198. And Jesus saw

  199. their intention,

  200. he invited them

  201. to,

  202. his invitation to them

  203. was,

  204. come and you will see.

  205. And they went

  206. and remained with Jesus

  207. for the whole day.

  208. They are invited

  209. to come and see the Lord.

  210. There is an invitation

  211. for us

  212. as we come

  213. to consider Jesus.

  214. It's not just

  215. an invitation

  216. for those who are

  217. not Christian,

  218. but it's an invitation

  219. for Christians as well.

  220. It's an invitation

  221. for meditation

  222. and reflection

  223. on Christ.

  224. That invitation

  225. still stands today.

  226. Jesus is asking you now,

  227. what do you want?

  228. And inviting you

  229. to come and see

  230. who he is

  231. and what he has

  232. accomplished for you.

  233. At these two disciples

  234. of John

  235. find out who Jesus is.

  236. One of them

  237. named Andrew

  238. goes and finds

  239. his brother Simon

  240. and brings him

  241. to Jesus.

  242. Andrew has become

  243. the voice

  244. of the greatness

  245. and goodness

  246. of Jesus Christ

  247. after spending

  248. a day with him

  249. like his previous

  250. teacher,

  251. John the Baptist.

  252. We are told

  253. in verse 43

  254. to 46

  255. that another person,

  256. Philip,

  257. also went

  258. and found Nathaniel

  259. and brought him

  260. to Jesus.

  261. Philip even used

  262. the very similar phrase

  263. that Jesus used,

  264. come and see,

  265. and extended

  266. Jesus' invitation

  267. to Nathaniel

  268. even after he made

  269. some degrading comment

  270. about where

  271. Jesus is from.

  272. From Jesus'

  273. interaction

  274. with Nathaniel

  275. between verse 47

  276. to the end

  277. of chapter 1,

  278. we see how Jesus

  279. is all-knowing.

  280. Or if we use

  281. one of those

  282. big words,

  283. we can see Jesus

  284. is omniscient.

  285. Let's read that

  286. interaction again.

  287. When Jesus saw

  288. Nathaniel approaching,

  289. he said to him,

  290. He truly

  291. is an Israelite

  292. in whom

  293. there is no disease.

  294. How do you know me?

  295. Nathaniel asked.

  296. Jesus answered,

  297. I saw you

  298. while you were

  299. still under the fig tree

  300. before Philip

  301. calls you.

  302. Then Nathaniel declared,

  303. Rabbi,

  304. you are the son of God,

  305. you are the king

  306. of Israel.

  307. Jesus said,

  308. you believe

  309. because I told you

  310. I saw you

  311. under the fig tree.

  312. You will see

  313. greater things

  314. than that.

  315. I saw you

  316. while you were

  317. still under the fig tree

  318. before Philip

  319. called you.

  320. Do you notice

  321. a word that

  322. John keeps using

  323. as he encourages

  324. his reader

  325. to look to Jesus?

  326. It mentioned

  327. John the Baptist

  328. saw Jesus passing

  329. and the two

  330. of his disciples

  331. went and saw

  332. where Jesus

  333. was staying.

  334. John also highlighted

  335. that Jesus saw

  336. the two of

  337. John's disciples

  338. following

  339. and Jesus

  340. saw Nathaniel

  341. while he was

  342. still under

  343. the fig tree

  344. before Philip

  345. calls him.

  346. I saw you

  347. is such a simple

  348. face

  349. but it also

  350. is so rich

  351. and manifested.

  352. I believe

  353. it also

  354. can be a good

  355. revealer

  356. of what's going

  357. on in our hearts.

  358. I saw you

  359. an image

  360. of parents

  361. playing high

  362. and sick

  363. and pick-a-poo

  364. with their children

  365. coming to mind.

  366. The laughter

  367. and joy

  368. in their playful

  369. interaction

  370. are so contagious.

  371. It can also

  372. be a marker

  373. of the beginning

  374. of a relationship

  375. as if someone

  376. would say

  377. when I saw you

  378. the first time

  379. I fall in love

  380. with you.

  381. That's my wife

  382. over there.

  383. On the other hand

  384. if you know

  385. that you have

  386. done something

  387. wrong

  388. something you

  389. should not have

  390. done

  391. or you have

  392. not fulfilled

  393. what you

  394. ought to have

  395. done

  396. hearing their

  397. face

  398. can bring up

  399. so much

  400. worry

  401. fear

  402. anxiety

  403. and guilt.

  404. I saw you

  405. can be comforting

  406. and reassuring

  407. especially to

  408. someone

  409. who may be

  410. at a crossroad

  411. or a dana

  412. feeling all alone

  413. questioning

  414. all the things

  415. that are happening

  416. in their life

  417. where there

  418. seems to be

  419. no one

  420. who care

  421. or take notice

  422. of the pain

  423. and suffering

  424. you are going

  425. through

  426. having someone

  427. to say to you

  428. I saw you

  429. could mean so much.

  430. I believe

  431. Nathaniel

  432. may be going

  433. through one

  434. of those moments

  435. under the fig tree

  436. but he followed

  437. Philip

  438. to go and see

  439. Jesus

  440. but he was

  441. seen

  442. by Jesus

  443. before he

  444. got there.

  445. Jesus

  446. knows

  447. Nathaniel

  448. and tell him

  449. that he

  450. saw him

  451. while he

  452. was alone

  453. under the fig tree

  454. and that's

  455. what

  456. Jesus

  457. is saying

  458. to you

  459. and me.

  460. Jesus

  461. has supernatural

  462. knowledge

  463. of what is

  464. going on

  465. in your

  466. world

  467. and he

  468. does not

  469. hold

  470. any of

  471. that

  472. knowledge

  473. against

  474. you

  475. or me.

  476. No need

  477. to be

  478. embarrassed

  479. about what

  480. is going

  481. on in

  482. your mind.

  483. Jesus

  484. saw you

  485. and he

  486. is the

  487. answer

  488. to all

  489. the

  490. questions

  491. you

  492. have

  493. about

  494. your

  495. life

  496. and

  497. your

  498. world.

  499. Jesus

  500. does not

  501. use

  502. his

  503. knowledge

  504. about you

  505. to control

  506. or manipulate

  507. you.

  508. He

  509. loves

  510. you.

  511. Jesus

  512. is all

  513. knowing

  514. with

  515. supernatural

  516. knowledge.

  517. He

  518. promised

  519. that

  520. when you

  521. see

  522. and

  523. behold

  524. him

  525. your

  526. life

  527. will

  528. change

  529. and

  530. you

  531. will

  532. see

  533. greater

  534. things.

  535. He

  536. can

  537. do

  538. it

  539. because

  540. he

  541. is

  542. also

  543. all

  544. powerful

  545. as

  546. we

  547. see

  548. from

  549. chapter

  550. 2

  551. verse

  552. 1

  553. to

  554. 12.

  555. There's

  556. a

  557. wedding

  558. at

  559. Canaan

  560. in

  561. Galilee.

  562. Jesus

  563. mother

  564. was

  565. there

  566. and

  567. so

  568. were

  569. Jesus

  570. and

  571. his

  572. disciples.

  573. It is

  574. here

  575. that

  576. Jesus

  577. had

  578. another

  579. abrupt

  580. interaction

  581. with

  582. someone,

  583. his

  584. mother.

  585. Let's

  586. see

  587. in

  588. verse

  589. 3.

  590. When

  591. the

  592. wine

  593. was

  594. gone,

  595. Jesus

  596. mother

  597. said

  598. to

  599. him,

  600. they

  601. have

  602. no

  603. more

  604. wine.

  605. Woman,

  606. why

  607. do

  608. you

  609. involve

  610. me?

  611. Jesus

  612. replied,

  613. my

  614. hour

  615. has

  616. not

  617. yet

  618. come.

  619. Again,

  620. I

  621. find

  622. it

  623. difficult

  624. to

  625. put

  626. the

  627. phrase

  628. woman,

  629. why

  630. do

  631. you

  632. involve

  633. me?

  634. In

  635. a

  636. pleasing

  637. and

  638. non-confrontational

  639. way.

  640. But

  641. why

  642. does

  643. Jesus

  644. have

  645. to

  646. speak

  647. nicely

  648. and

  649. offensively

  650. to

  651. people

  652. or

  653. his

  654. mom

  655. all

  656. the

  657. time?

  658. The

  659. problem

  660. of my

  661. discomfort

  662. is

  663. obvious

  664. to do

  665. with

  666. me.

  667. I'm

  668. concerned

  669. about

  670. the

  671. tone

  672. of

  673. Jesus'

  674. interaction

  675. earlier

  676. and

  677. here.

  678. It

  679. has

  680. a lot

  681. to

  682. do

  683. with

  684. how

  685. I

  686. want

  687. to

  688. present

  689. Jesus

  690. as

  691. a

  692. friendly

  693. person

  694. or

  695. for

  696. others

  697. to

  698. think

  699. that

  700. I

  701. am

  702. a

  703. nice

  704. person.

  705. But

  706. apart

  707. from

  708. being

  709. our

  710. friend,

  711. there's

  712. more

  713. to

  714. Jesus

  715. and

  716. it's

  717. nothing

  718. to

  719. do

  720. with

  721. what

  722. people

  723. think

  724. of

  725. me.

  726. Here's

  727. a

  728. lesson

  729. for

  730. myself

  731. and

  732. maybe

  733. for

  734. some

  735. of

  736. you

  737. too.

  738. Before

  739. we

  740. see

  741. Jesus

  742. as

  743. our

  744. friend,

  745. be

  746. sure

  747. you

  748. see

  749. Jesus

  750. as

  751. the

  752. Son

  753. of

  754. God,

  755. the

  756. King,

  757. the

  758. Lamb of

  759. God

  760. who

  761. takes

  762. away

  763. the

  764. sin

  765. of

  766. the

  767. world.

  768. We

  769. need

  770. to

  771. see

  772. Jesus

  773. as

  774. who

  775. he

  776. is,

  777. not

  778. as

  779. what

  780. we

  781. want

  782. him

  783. to

  784. be.

  785. The

  786. hour

  787. that

  788. Jesus

  789. mentioned

  790. is

  791. constantly

  792. referred

  793. in the

  794. Bible

  795. about

  796. his

  797. death

  798. on

  799. the

  800. cross,

  801. his

  802. resurrection,

  803. and

  804. his

  805. return

  806. to

  807. the

  808. Father's

  809. side

  810. until

  811. his

  812. second

  813. coming.

  814. That

  815. is

  816. the

  817. only

  818. way

  819. that

  820. sin

  821. of

  822. this

  823. world

  824. is

  825. dealt

  826. with

  827. once

  828. and

  829. for

  830. all.

  831. It's

  832. our

  833. only

  834. way

  835. to

  836. be

  837. reconciled

  838. with

  839. God.

  840. We

  841. need

  842. to

  843. acknowledge

  844. Jesus'

  845. Lordship

  846. before

  847. we

  848. can

  849. see

  850. the

  851. genuine

  852. friendship

  853. that

  854. Jesus

  855. offered

  856. to

  857. each

  858. of

  859. us.

  860. There

  861. is

  862. something

  863. special

  864. about

  865. this

  866. wedding

  867. at

  868. Canaan,

  869. and

  870. it's

  871. not

  872. just

  873. because

  874. the

  875. wine

  876. has

  877. run

  878. out.

  879. Wedding

  880. is

  881. used

  882. as

  883. a

  884. metaphor

  885. for

  886. our

  887. relationship

  888. with

  889. God

  890. in

  891. the

  892. Bible.

  893. Jesus

  894. is

  895. a

  896. bridegroom

  897. who

  898. takes

  899. care

  900. of

  901. the

  902. wedding.

  903. Our

  904. eternal

  905. relationship

  906. with

  907. God

  908. is

  909. an

  910. image

  911. of

  912. one

  913. big

  914. everlasting

  915. joyous

  916. wedding

  917. where

  918. we

  919. enjoy

  920. banquet

  921. where

  922. food

  923. or

  924. wine

  925. will

  926. not

  927. run

  928. out.

  929. On

  930. the

  931. contrary

  932. anything

  933. we

  934. try

  935. to

  936. rely

  937. on

  938. for

  939. joy

  940. in

  941. our

  942. life

  943. our

  944. great

  945. relationship

  946. our

  947. career

  948. success

  949. our

  950. wealth

  951. and

  952. our

  953. achievement

  954. will

  955. ultimately

  956. run

  957. out.

  958. No

  959. matter

  960. how

  961. hard

  962. we

  963. try

  964. to

  965. build

  966. a

  967. great

  968. life

  969. something

  970. comes

  971. in

  972. and

  973. ruin

  974. our

  975. effort

  976. our

  977. efforts

  978. are

  979. never

  980. enough.

  981. In

  982. Jesus'

  983. time

  984. the

  985. wine

  986. running

  987. out

  988. means

  989. the

  990. bridegroom

  991. had

  992. done

  993. a

  994. terrible

  995. job

  996. of

  997. preparation.

  998. It's

  999. a

  1000. disastrous

  1001. situation

  1002. that

  1003. would

  1004. be

  1005. a

  1006. very

  1007. shameful

  1008. embarrassment.

  1009. It

  1010. would

  1011. be

  1012. the

  1013. talk

  1014. of

  1015. the

  1016. time

  1017. forever.

  1018. By

  1019. making

  1020. new

  1021. wine

  1022. for

  1023. the

  1024. wedding

  1025. at

  1026. King

  1027. Jesus

  1028. showed

  1029. he

  1030. has

  1031. power

  1032. over

  1033. the

  1034. created

  1035. order

  1036. because

  1037. he

  1038. is

  1039. the

  1040. creator

  1041. who

  1042. comes

  1043. to

  1044. earth.

  1045. He

  1046. is

  1047. all

  1048. powerful

  1049. omnipotent

  1050. and

  1051. can

  1052. make

  1053. everything

  1054. new.

  1055. Jesus

  1056. did

  1057. much

  1058. more

  1059. than

  1060. simply

  1061. feel

  1062. a need

  1063. or a

  1064. first

  1065. some

  1066. kind

  1067. of

  1068. social

  1069. disaster.

  1070. He

  1071. turns

  1072. embarrassment

  1073. into a

  1074. blessing.

  1075. what

  1076. the

  1077. master

  1078. of

  1079. banquet

  1080. said

  1081. to

  1082. the

  1083. bridegroom

  1084. in

  1085. verse

  1086. 10

  1087. is

  1088. a

  1089. climax

  1090. of

  1091. this

  1092. story.

  1093. Everyone

  1094. brings

  1095. out

  1096. choice

  1097. wine

  1098. first

  1099. and

  1100. then

  1101. the

  1102. cheaper

  1103. wine

  1104. after

  1105. the

  1106. guests

  1107. had

  1108. too

  1109. much

  1110. to

  1111. drink.

  1112. But

  1113. you

  1114. have

  1115. saved

  1116. the

  1117. best

  1118. till

  1119. last,

  1120. till

  1121. now.

  1122. Instead

  1123. of having

  1124. to

  1125. endure

  1126. shame,

  1127. the

  1128. bridegroom

  1129. was

  1130. publicly

  1131. honored

  1132. for

  1133. his

  1134. over-the-top

  1135. hospitality

  1136. for

  1137. saving

  1138. the

  1139. good

  1140. wine

  1141. for

  1142. last.

  1143. Jesus

  1144. came

  1145. to

  1146. bring

  1147. blessing

  1148. to

  1149. us,

  1150. not

  1151. judgment.

  1152. He

  1153. used

  1154. stone

  1155. water

  1156. jar

  1157. that

  1158. was

  1159. set

  1160. aside

  1161. for

  1162. ceremonial

  1163. washing

  1164. to

  1165. change

  1166. water

  1167. into

  1168. wine.

  1169. It

  1170. is

  1171. through

  1172. his

  1173. death

  1174. on

  1175. the

  1176. cross

  1177. by

  1178. his

  1179. blood

  1180. that

  1181. he

  1182. cleansed

  1183. us

  1184. and

  1185. forgives

  1186. us

  1187. of

  1188. our

  1189. sins.

  1190. He

  1191. holds

  1192. the

  1193. power

  1194. to

  1195. change

  1196. whatever

  1197. embarrassment

  1198. in your

  1199. life

  1200. that

  1201. are

  1202. so

  1203. shameful

  1204. that

  1205. you

  1206. would

  1207. want

  1208. to

  1209. keep

  1210. hiding

  1211. into

  1212. something

  1213. for

  1214. his

  1215. glory.

  1216. But

  1217. before

  1218. Jesus

  1219. can

  1220. give us

  1221. a cup

  1222. of

  1223. blessing,

  1224. he

  1225. will

  1226. have

  1227. to

  1228. take

  1229. the

  1230. cup

  1231. of

  1232. divine

  1233. wolf.

  1234. And

  1235. he

  1236. did

  1237. it

  1238. willingly

  1239. for

  1240. you.

  1241. And

  1242. you

  1243. don't

  1244. have

  1245. to

  1246. hide

  1247. anything

  1248. anymore.

  1249. changing

  1250. water

  1251. to

  1252. wine

  1253. is

  1254. the

  1255. first

  1256. of

  1257. many

  1258. situations

  1259. in

  1260. John's

  1261. gospel

  1262. where

  1263. Jesus

  1264. restores

  1265. something

  1266. to

  1267. better

  1268. than

  1269. original

  1270. condition.

  1271. It

  1272. reveals

  1273. Jesus'

  1274. deep

  1275. concern

  1276. for

  1277. meeting

  1278. people

  1279. at

  1280. their

  1281. point

  1282. of

  1283. need,

  1284. no

  1285. matter

  1286. how

  1287. trivial

  1288. or

  1289. inconsequential

  1290. those

  1291. needs

  1292. may

  1293. be.

  1294. John

  1295. told us

  1296. in

  1297. verse

  1298. 11

  1299. of

  1300. chapter

  1301. 1,

  1302. and

  1303. also

  1304. later

  1305. on

  1306. in

  1307. chapter

  1308. 20,

  1309. verse

  1310. 30 to

  1311. 31,

  1312. why

  1313. he

  1314. has

  1315. chosen

  1316. to

  1317. tell

  1318. us

  1319. more

  1320. particular

  1321. events

  1322. in

  1323. his

  1324. gospel.

  1325. Verse

  1326. 11,

  1327. what

  1328. Jesus

  1329. did

  1330. here

  1331. in

  1332. Canaan

  1333. of

  1334. Galilee

  1335. was

  1336. the

  1337. first

  1338. of

  1339. the

  1340. signs

  1341. through

  1342. which

  1343. he

  1344. revealed

  1345. his

  1346. glory

  1347. and

  1348. his

  1349. disciples

  1350. believed

  1351. in

  1352. him.

  1353. In

  1354. chapter

  1355. 20,

  1356. verse

  1357. 30,

  1358. Jesus

  1359. performed

  1360. many

  1361. other

  1362. signs

  1363. in

  1364. the

  1365. presence

  1366. of

  1367. his

  1368. disciples,

  1369. which

  1370. are not

  1371. recorded

  1372. in

  1373. this

  1374. book,

  1375. but

  1376. these

  1377. are

  1378. written

  1379. that

  1380. you

  1381. might

  1382. believe

  1383. that

  1384. Jesus

  1385. is

  1386. the

  1387. Messiah,

  1388. the

  1389. Son of

  1390. God,

  1391. and that

  1392. by

  1393. believing

  1394. you

  1395. might have

  1396. life

  1397. in

  1398. his

  1399. name.

  1400. God

  1401. John

  1402. wants

  1403. us

  1404. to

  1405. read

  1406. his

  1407. gospel

  1408. and

  1409. come

  1410. to

  1411. believe

  1412. that

  1413. Jesus

  1414. is

  1415. the

  1416. Messiah,

  1417. the

  1418. Christ,

  1419. the

  1420. Son of

  1421. God,

  1422. and

  1423. by

  1424. believing

  1425. we

  1426. might

  1427. have

  1428. life

  1429. in

  1430. his

  1431. name,

  1432. and

  1433. it

  1434. will

  1435. not

  1436. be

  1437. any

  1438. ordinary

  1439. life,

  1440. but

  1441. life

  1442. that

  1443. is

  1444. filled

  1445. to

  1446. the

  1447. broom

  1448. and

  1449. abundant

  1450. life.

  1451. Believing

  1452. and trusting

  1453. is

  1454. relational.

  1455. I can

  1456. imitate

  1457. and do

  1458. exactly

  1459. what

  1460. another

  1461. person

  1462. does,

  1463. but

  1464. that

  1465. will

  1466. not

  1467. guarantee

  1468. I

  1469. have

  1470. a

  1471. relationship

  1472. with

  1473. that

  1474. person.

  1475. Jesus

  1476. is

  1477. looking

  1478. forward

  1479. to

  1480. a

  1481. relationship

  1482. with

  1483. his

  1484. followers.

  1485. He

  1486. invites

  1487. anyone

  1488. who

  1489. makes

  1490. any

  1491. shows

  1492. of

  1493. beginning

  1494. to

  1495. follow

  1496. him

  1497. to

  1498. articulate

  1499. what

  1500. they

  1501. really

  1502. want

  1503. in

  1504. life.

  1505. Coming

  1506. to

  1507. Jesus,

  1508. what

  1509. do you

  1510. really

  1511. want

  1512. in

  1513. life?

  1514. Jesus

  1515. invites

  1516. us

  1517. to

  1518. come

  1519. and

  1520. see

  1521. him

  1522. and

  1523. form

  1524. a

  1525. relationship

  1526. of

  1527. following

  1528. him.

  1529. That

  1530. relationship

  1531. will help

  1532. us to

  1533. understand

  1534. the

  1535. glory

  1536. and

  1537. greatness

  1538. of the

  1539. relationship

  1540. between

  1541. God the

  1542. Father

  1543. and

  1544. God the

  1545. Son.

  1546. When

  1547. you

  1548. come

  1549. to

  1550. Jesus,

  1551. you

  1552. have

  1553. to

  1554. look

  1555. out

  1556. for

  1557. his

  1558. glory

  1559. already

  1560. revealed

  1561. in

  1562. his

  1563. words

  1564. and

  1565. deeds.

  1566. As

  1567. you

  1568. read

  1569. the

  1570. Bible,

  1571. look

  1572. for

  1573. Jesus.

  1574. Look

  1575. and

  1576. read

  1577. directly

  1578. of his

  1579. teaching

  1580. from the

  1581. gospel.

  1582. Pause

  1583. and be

  1584. amazed

  1585. at the

  1586. wonders

  1587. that God

  1588. is doing

  1589. in Jesus.

  1590. Many

  1591. people

  1592. come to

  1593. Jesus

  1594. to treat

  1595. him

  1596. as a

  1597. primary

  1598. example

  1599. to

  1600. imitate

  1601. how they

  1602. are to

  1603. live

  1604. their

  1605. life.

  1606. That is

  1607. not

  1608. the key

  1609. to

  1610. abundant

  1611. life.

  1612. The

  1613. key

  1614. is to

  1615. believe

  1616. in

  1617. Jesus

  1618. after

  1619. seeing

  1620. his

  1621. glory.
