  1. Genesis, which is a Greek word translated from the Hebrew, the original Hebrew, which means

  2. in the beginning. And so what Genesis does for us, it gives us the beginning of the doctrine of God

  3. is what the beginning is. It's the beginning of the doctrine of God, of who God is, but also of

  4. his creation. That is what we know about God, what we know about creation, about ourselves and about

  5. salvation, it all begins right here in Genesis. What I'm saying is that if you read the Bible

  6. correctly, it is not fundamentally about us. It's about God. And it's about who he is and what he

  7. has done and continues to do. It's no accident that God is the very first sentence of the Bible.

  8. And the name of God is referred to 35 times and dominates the first chapter. God is the subject

  9. of the first chapter of the Bible. That's not often how we read it. The storyline of the Bible,

  10. which is a single storyline, is a storyline that moves from creation to the fall, what God has done

  11. to rescue it and renew his creation through grace, which takes us eventually to the end where he will

  12. renew all things. It's a single storyline of the whole Bible. It's a storyline that has its foundation

  13. in Genesis 1-11. And it's our focus, as Jess has said, in the lead up to Christmas.

  14. Genesis 1-11 gives us the earliest of history of the world. It gives us this early history by relating to

  15. us five stories. In Genesis 1-11, consists of five stories that all have the same structure.

  16. The five stories are the fall into sin, the story of Cain, the sons of God marrying the daughters of men,

  17. the flood and the tower of Babel. And the five stories have a fourfold pattern to them that's repeated.

  18. Sin is described. God speaks, announcing the penalty for the sin. God then brings grace to the solution to

  19. ease the misery that sin has caused. And then God punishes the sin. And the amazing thing, as you see in the first

  20. 11 chapters, is that as sin increases, so grace increases more and more.

  21. And so therefore, Romans 5 comes to fruition in its very first chapters of the Bible. It's a foundation,

  22. if you like, the pillars of the rest of the Bible, the message of the rest of the Bible.

  23. And so today we're starting in the beginning of creation. And as we have just declared in the

  24. Apostles' Creed, we believe in God Almighty, the creator of heaven and earth. So three things. If you've

  25. got the St. Paul's outline there on the app, you'll see I've got three things there. Understanding creation,

  26. practicing creation, and lastly, experiencing creation, or I've sort of thought this morning, might even call that

  27. enjoying creation. But we'll get there. Okay. Understanding creation. Now, us modern people, especially those of us

  28. with a Western heritage, when we read Genesis 1, we immediately think of the question, how?

  29. How? That's the immediate thing. That's the very first question we impose upon this text. How? And Darwin's

  30. theory of evolution springs to mind. We have questions about dinosaurs and the age of the planet and all

  31. that sort of stuff. One of the crucial issues when we read the Bible, in fact, when we read any text,

  32. is to ask the question, what is the author's intention in writing this?

  33. And the key is to understand his intention in order to understand the meaning. And so as we open

  34. Genesis, there is one thing we can be absolutely certain of. When Genesis was written, the author

  35. wasn't thinking about Darwin's theory of evolution. At all. Not even remotely.

  36. They weren't thinking about the cultural wars of the West. At all.

  37. But since it's often on our minds, as Westerners, and particularly, and we want to impose something on the text,

  38. I want to say something very briefly about it, and then I'm going to park it. I'm not going to mention it again.

  39. Historically, there are at least six different views on what is meant by the six days of creation

  40. in Genesis 1. Through the centuries, there have been Christians who have had a very high view of the Bible,

  41. who have considered the reference to days in Genesis 1 as literally 24-hour periods as we know them today.

  42. And there have been plenty of Christians also with an extremely high view of the Bible,

  43. who have not seen it that way at all.

  44. And to this day, friends on both sides still exist as friends.

  45. The people who have not seen it that way have a variety of different...

  46. They see the Bible as a variety of different types of texts.

  47. They see that there's historical narrative, there's prophecies, there's poetry, there's songs.

  48. Historical narrative makes itself clear with references to things like world events, people, times, eyewitness testimony.

  49. Poetry, on the other hand, makes itself clear by things like repetitiveness and parallelism.

  50. There are a few places, in fact, in the Bible where it's not entirely clear what it is that we're dealing with

  51. when we read the text.

  52. Genesis chapter 1 is one of those places.

    Genesis 1 chapter mention

  53. Genesis chapter 2 is not one of those places.

    Genesis 2 chapter mention

  54. Genesis 2 is historical narrative.

  55. It reads like an account of what...

  56. exactly what happened.

  57. But Genesis 1 has quite a repetitive pattern.

  58. Over and over again we read,

  59. He said,

  60. He said, and it was.

  61. He saw, and it was good.

  62. It was evening, and then it was morning.

  63. Over and over again.

  64. It has a repetitive pattern that is not the way that historic narrative is written.

  65. I think Genesis 2 is a history of what God did,

  66. but Genesis 1 is a song about God and what God has done.

  67. Another example of...

  68. is in Exodus 14 and 15.

  69. Exodus 14 is a historical narrative about the crossing of the Red Sea,

  70. and it's put alongside Miriam's song about the same event in Exodus 15,

  71. which is clearly a song.

  72. It is clearly poetry looking on the event of Exodus 14.

  73. The key thing, though, is that wherever you land with this,

  74. it's important to remember one key thing.

  75. It is established fact that godly, Bible-loving people

  76. who have given their lives to God's Word

  77. have differed over the opening chapter of the Bible.

  78. Faithful Bible scholars have landed differently on this issue,

  79. and they got on.

  80. It would seem over the last 20 years or so,

  81. there's been much more of a war over these issues.

  82. There are people who disdain those who hold to the literal reading of Genesis 1

  83. as being primitive fundamentalists.

  84. Likewise, there are those who regard as enemies of truth,

  85. those who don't think these are literal 24-hour days,

  86. as if Genesis 1 is the test for orthodoxy.

  87. There is a harshness to the debate

  88. that doesn't present gospel humility,

  89. and it's not the kind of church that I want us to be at St. Paul's

  90. as we discuss these matters amongst ourselves.

  91. We have a great deal of humility towards one another.

  92. If you want to know where I stand on the issue,

  93. then I'm with the people who interpret Genesis 1 as a song.

  94. Now, that does not mean that I give in to the theory of evolution,

  95. because I don't.

  96. It's a theory that has dominated the sciences

  97. for just a little over 100 years.

  98. That's all.

  99. And it's a theory that is currently, to our day,

  100. amongst physicists and philosophers,

  101. as increasingly discredited

  102. and losing its prominence due to flimsy evidence

  103. and dubious hypothesis.

  104. While Genesis 1 is poetry,

  105. I'm certain that Genesis 2 and onwards is history.

  106. But wherever you stand with this,

  107. our goal should be to read this text

  108. and notice what God is saying.

  109. And what we know is that when God speaks,

  110. the chaos becomes cosmos.

  111. To come under God's word

  112. is to move from disorder to order.

  113. And our key job

  114. is to do the hard work

  115. of coming under what the Bible actually says.

  116. And that's it.

  117. I'm not going to talk about evolution there again.

  118. Going to move on,

  119. because I don't think it's the issue of Genesis 1.

  120. So let's move on to my second point,

  121. how it is that we practice the doctrine of creation.

  122. And there are at least four things

  123. about this that I think have very practical outcomes for us

  124. as we look at the doctrine of creation.

  125. First of all,

  126. we see the goodness of creation.

  127. Notice the repetition of God

  128. and he saw and it was good.

  129. God made it,

  130. he said it,

  131. came into existence

  132. and it was good.

  133. Eastern religions say

  134. that the physical world is an illusion

  135. and at one day it's all going to fade away.

  136. Western religions,

  137. coming off the back of the Greeks and the Romans,

  138. say that fundamentally the world is bad.

  139. The body and material world are bad,

  140. but the spirit is good.

  141. And only biblical,

  142. only Christian faith,

  143. Christian faith of the Bible,

  144. has a high view.

  145. In fact, the highest view

  146. of the physical creation.

  147. The storyline of the Bible,

  148. the plan of God revealed in time and space,

  149. is a movement entirely from creation to new creation.

  150. It begins with,

  151. the Bible begins with creation

  152. and it ends with a new creation.

  153. The plan of God is to resurrect bodies

  154. into a new heaven and a new earth,

  155. a new perfect physical reality.

  156. Only the Christian faith speaks of that kind of reality.

  157. Only the Bible has a vision of spirit and matter

  158. existing in integrity forever.

  159. And that has many practical implications for the Christian.

  160. The Bible is filled with prophecy

  161. that say the natural world that we live in

  162. is but a shadow of what it is going to be like

  163. when the Lord comes back.

  164. That is great news.

  165. We're not going to be going to clouds

  166. and floating around as spirits.

  167. We will be as alive,

  168. in fact, even more alive than what we are today.

  169. Isaiah refers to the coming of the Lord

  170. of all creation as a great party.

  171. Jesus reveals that he is, in fact,

  172. the Lord of creation

  173. and enjoys a party at his very first miracle.

  174. where he turns the water into wine.

  175. He's there at a wedding celebration.

  176. The wine's drying up.

  177. It's about to dip.

  178. Everything's about to go bad for the wedding.

  179. Jesus comes along and kicks it up a notch.

  180. He's the Lord of creation.

  181. He's the Lord of the party.

  182. Jesus produces so much wine

  183. it would have been impossible for them to consume it all.

  184. Such is his abundance.

  185. Jesus is not who religion has made him out to be.

  186. God's work in Jesus to recreate his broken world

  187. is centered on joy, celebration, and festivities.

  188. The goodness of creation

  189. is a profound Christian motive for playfulness.

  190. Profound Christian motive for playfulness.

  191. A great kiss.

  192. A fantastic sunset.

  193. A satisfying meal

  194. is but a dim picture

  195. of what we're going to eternally have

  196. in the new heavens and the new earth.

  197. And we have a fantastic foretaste of it now.

  198. We can receive life gladly

  199. and cherish it now.

  200. The second thing we learn

  201. quite practical implications for us

  202. and I think it points to a balance.

  203. And that is the finiteness of creation.

  204. Again, something unique

  205. about the Bible's creation account

  206. and that is that there's only one source

  207. of the creation.

  208. All other ancient accounts of creation

  209. have multiple deities

  210. where the world is created

  211. because they've been killing each other.

  212. It's some kind of battle.

  213. And the humanity was created,

  214. the world was created

  215. to serve the deities

  216. who were trying to kill each other.

  217. Here is an ancient account of creation

  218. where all of the elements are created.

  219. No element of creation

  220. is divine in and of itself.

  221. God alone is divine.

  222. None of the creation is divine.

  223. God alone is infinite

  224. and to be worshipped.

  225. Virtually all of the ancient religion

  226. worshipped parts of the creation

  227. because they saw them

  228. as sources of divine power

  229. linked to different deities.

  230. So in the ancient world,

  231. there were some who were

  232. anti the created order.

  233. It was all about appeasing the angry gods.

  234. That's why creation existed.

  235. They were therefore against pleasure.

  236. They were against enjoyment.

  237. They were against playfulness.

  238. On the other hand,

  239. in the ancient world,

  240. there was the materialists,

  241. which like modern secularists,

  242. who said that it's all that we've got

  243. and so we better make sure

  244. that we worship it,

  245. you know,

  246. and worship physical pleasure

  247. and wealth and power.

  248. The modern secularist says

  249. that this is all that we have,

  250. this created order,

  251. so consume as much of the material world

  252. in possession and experiences

  253. as you possibly can

  254. before you die.

  255. The Christian worldview

  256. doesn't say that the material world is bad,

  257. nor does it say it's all you've got.

  258. You can do without it

  259. because God is the most important thing.

  260. When the Christian grasps the goodness

  261. alongside the finiteness of creation,

  262. then you are able to truly enjoy it

  263. but also walk away from it.

  264. That's why our holidays

  265. are so quickly forgotten

  266. because they're not the ultimate.

  267. They're not meant to give you

  268. the rest that only God can give you.

  269. They're good

  270. but they're not ultimate.

  271. So the Christian is neither an ascetic

  272. nor a hedonist.

  273. The third thing we learn

  274. is the unity of creation.

  275. This is an interesting point.

  276. Well, interesting to me anyway.

  277. Way back in Greek philosophy,

  278. there was this tendency

  279. to a dualistic view of creation.

  280. I've already mentioned it

  281. where there's good gods and bad gods.

  282. The material world was bad.

  283. The spiritual world was good.

  284. We see this thinking in fact.

  285. Some of this thinking

  286. is behind the New Testament book

  287. of 1 Corinthians.

  288. Some Greek religions believed

  289. that there were two gods,

  290. one good and one bad.

  291. The interesting thing is

  292. that this dualistic view of the world

  293. has for some reason

  294. always hung around the Christian church.

  295. There's elements there

  296. that have always hung around

  297. the Christian church

  298. despite the fact

  299. that it's actually not in the Bible.

  300. So many Christians

  301. these days

  302. are dualistic

  303. in their thinking

  304. and therefore

  305. they are consistently fearful.

  306. Fearful of world events.

  307. Fearful that Satan

  308. may get the upper hand on me.

  309. Fearful of the spiritual realm.

  310. They consistently pit

  311. the spirit

  312. against the material world

  313. and therefore

  314. live in fear.

  315. And therefore

  316. they view the world

  317. in both

  318. you're a good person

  319. if you have the Holy Spirit

  320. and you're a carnal person

  321. if you

  322. don't have the Holy Spirit.

  323. Have the Holy Spirit

  324. I'm good

  325. if you don't

  326. then everyone else

  327. is wicked and terrible.

  328. God creates both the body

  329. and the spirit.

  330. Everything

  331. is his

  332. or wisdom is his

  333. or truth is his.

  334. And so

  335. a great deal of humility

  336. those of you

  337. who are in Christ

  338. because you can learn

  339. an awful lot

  340. from those who are not.

  341. The last thing we learn here

  342. is the importance of creation.

  343. God so loves the cosmos

  344. that is why

  345. John chapter 3

    John 3:16

  346. verse 16

  347. says that

  348. he sent his son

  349. Jesus Christ

  350. to save it.

  351. God so loves

  352. the cosmos.

  353. He is so committed

  354. to his creation

  355. that he was willing

  356. for the eternal son

  357. to take on human flesh

  358. and to dwell here

  359. amongst us.

  360. He is so committed

  361. to the cosmos

  362. that he will someday

  363. resurrect us

  364. and create a new heaven

  365. and a new earth.

  366. It means that

  367. when the Christian

  368. sees everything

  369. that has gone wrong

  370. in our world

  371. God's perfect creation

  372. we ought to be committed

  373. to renewing it

  374. in the same way

  375. that he is committed

  376. to renewing it.

  377. When we see

  378. the goodness of creation

  379. we have a great deal

  380. of motivation

  381. to enjoy it.

  382. When we see

  383. the finiteness of creation

  384. we can handle

  385. not having a lot of it.

  386. When we see

  387. the unity of creation

  388. we can humbly learn

  389. from everyone

  390. and everything in it.

  391. And because

  392. of the importance

  393. of creation

  394. we join in

  395. with God's

  396. renovation project

  397. through the proclamation

  398. of the gospel

  399. and works of mercy

  400. and justice

  401. in our world.

  402. So lastly

  403. how therefore

  404. do we

  405. experience creation

  406. or

  407. potentially

  408. enjoying creation?

  409. creation.

  410. This is the last

  411. final point.

  412. I think it would be

  413. a mistake for me

  414. just to end it there

  415. where it was

  416. encourage you to go out

  417. and build a life

  418. around the biblical

  419. doctrine of creation.

  420. The last point

  421. is how do we

  422. actually truly

  423. experience

  424. God

  425. not just as

  426. our redeemer

  427. but as our creator.

  428. Job chapter 38

    Job 38 chapter mention

  429. God

  430. asked Job

  431. were you there

  432. when I laid

  433. the earth's

  434. foundation

  435. while the

  436. morning stars

  437. sang together

  438. and all

  439. the angels

  440. shouted joy.

  441. Psalm 19

  442. says

  443. the created

  444. order

  445. declares

  446. the glory

  447. of God.

  448. The reason

  449. why

  450. nature

  451. and the natural

  452. world

  453. is so

  454. moving

  455. for us

  456. is because

  457. it is doing

  458. what Job 38

  459. says

  460. is doing

  461. what Psalm 19

  462. says

  463. it is speaking

  464. to us.

  465. That's

  466. its job

  467. it is speaking

  468. to us

  469. it is proclaiming

  470. something

  471. it is

  472. what it's doing

  473. according to Psalm 38

  474. it is

  475. praising God

  476. and speaking

  477. to us

  478. consistently

  479. about the

  480. magnificence

  481. of God.

  482. God

  483. but Romans

    Romans 1 chapter mention

  484. chapter 1

  485. tells us

  486. that even

  487. though creation

  488. reveals God

  489. a God of

  490. eternal power

  491. and divine

  492. nature

  493. humanity

  494. in our

  495. rebellion

  496. against God

  497. has suppressed

  498. that truth.

  499. It's like

  500. we're putting

  501. earbuds in

  502. as the

  503. creation

  504. sings to

  505. us.

  506. every human

  507. being

  508. knows God

  509. but no

  510. human being

  511. glorifies God

  512. or gives

  513. thanks to

  514. him

  515. is what

  516. Romans 1

  517. tells us.

  518. We don't

  519. acknowledge

  520. our dependence

  521. upon God

  522. our creator

  523. and we claim

  524. independence

  525. of him

  526. instead.

  527. But here's

  528. the thing

  529. again

  530. from Romans

  531. 1

  532. because

  533. we are

  534. primarily

  535. made

  536. by God

  537. to worship

  538. God

  539. when we

  540. reject God

  541. we don't

  542. just simply

  543. stop worshipping

  544. we don't

  545. just simply

  546. stop believing

  547. as an atheist

  548. will want you

  549. to believe

  550. we don't

  551. stop that

  552. we just

  553. shift our

  554. allegiance

  555. to something

  556. else

  557. and worship

  558. it instead

  559. another object

  560. our purpose

  561. is worship

  562. and so

  563. there must

  564. be something

  565. that captures

  566. our attention

  567. and becomes

  568. our hope

  569. and our security

  570. and our identity

  571. and our meaning

  572. we give

  573. ultimate affection

  574. to a created

  575. thing

  576. a good thing

  577. made by God

  578. rather than

  579. the God

  580. who alone

  581. is worthy

  582. of our

  583. ultimate

  584. affection

  585. so rather

  586. than worshipping

  587. the immortal

  588. we worship

  589. what he has

  590. made

  591. and what

  592. the Bible

  593. tells us

  594. is that

  595. everything

  596. that's wrong

  597. in the

  598. created world

  599. is linked

  600. to that

  601. issue

  602. alone

  603. that issue

  604. and the

  605. Bible

  606. tells us

  607. that God

  608. will hold

  609. us accountable

  610. for it

  611. but the

  612. Bible also

  613. tells us

  614. that God

  615. has done

  616. something

  617. about our

  618. biggest

  619. issue

  620. I'm not

  621. sure if

  622. you ever

  623. noticed

  624. this

  625. for those

  626. who have

  627. read

  628. in the

  629. New Testament

  630. and John's

  631. Gospel

  632. which we

  633. finished last

  634. week

  635. but John's

  636. Gospel

  637. begins

  638. in the

  639. same way

  640. that Genesis

  641. begins

  642. in the

  643. beginning

  644. was the

  645. word

  646. in the

  647. beginning

  648. was the

  649. word

  650. the Greek

  651. word that

  652. John uses

  653. there

  654. for word

  655. is the

  656. word

  657. logos

  658. and the

  659. Greek

  660. philosophers

  661. the word

  662. logos

  663. had very

  664. important

  665. word

  666. in Greek

  667. philosophy

  668. at the

  669. time the

  670. first century

  671. and John

  672. was writing

  673. this in

  674. Greek

  675. culture

  676. the Greek

  677. philosophers

  678. looked at

  679. nature

  680. they looked

  681. at the

  682. created

  683. order

  684. they saw

  685. balance

  686. they saw

  687. harmony

  688. they saw

  689. design

  690. in the

  691. world

  692. and they

  693. concluded

  694. that there

  695. was a

  696. cosmic

  697. principle

  698. of order

  699. behind

  700. the

  701. created

  702. world

  703. and they

  704. called

  705. that

  706. principle

  707. of order

  708. the

  709. logos

  710. of the

  711. world

  712. the logic

  713. of the

  714. world

  715. the logos

  716. is the

  717. purpose

  718. the reason

  719. the logic

  720. behind all

  721. things

  722. it's the

  723. thing that

  724. makes sense

  725. of all

  726. things

  727. and so

  728. as John

  729. begins his

  730. gospel

  731. he comes

  732. in with an

  733. earth

  734. shattering

  735. category

  736. the

  737. logos

  738. is not

  739. a

  740. principle

  741. it's a

  742. person

  743. the

  744. person

  745. is the

  746. designer

  747. the

  748. source

  749. of all

  750. life

  751. the

  752. one

  753. who

  754. we

  755. are

  756. to

  757. align

  758. our

  759. lives

  760. with

  761. in

  762. order

  763. for

  764. life

  765. to

  766. be

  767. lived

  768. well

  769. by

  770. us

  771. and

  772. we

  773. are

  774. told

  775. five

  776. things

  777. in

  778. John

  779. chapter

  780. one

  781. about

  782. the

  783. logos

  784. the

  785. principle

  786. the

  787. person

  788. behind

  789. the

  790. universe

  791. firstly

  792. the

  793. logos

  794. is a

  795. person

  796. secondly

  797. the

  798. logos

  799. is a

  800. divine

  801. person

  802. thirdly

  803. the

  804. logos

  805. is an

  806. eternal

  807. divine

  808. person

  809. fifthly

  810. the

  811. logos

  812. is an

  813. eternal

  814. divine

  815. person

  816. who is

  817. the source

  818. of all

  819. life

  820. and

  821. did I say

  822. fifthly

  823. fifthly

  824. the

  825. logos

  826. is Jesus

  827. Christ

  828. now

  829. walking

  830. amongst

  831. us

  832. at

  833. his

  834. baptism

  835. you

  836. notice

  837. this

  838. in

  839. Genesis

  840. one

  841. God

  842. saw

  843. and

  844. it

  845. was

  846. good

  847. and

  848. then

  849. down

  850. in

  851. when

  852. he

  853. creates

  854. humanity

  855. made

  856. Adam

  857. God

  858. saw

  859. and

  860. it

  861. was

  862. very

  863. good

  864. very

  865. good

  866. and

  867. then

  868. the

  869. John

  870. says

  871. the

  872. logos

  873. is

  874. here

  875. at

  876. his

  877. baptism

  878. the

  879. Holy

  880. Spirit

  881. descends

  882. and

  883. we

  884. read

  885. that

  886. he

  887. heard

  888. a

  889. voice

  890. the

  891. voice

  892. was

  893. God

  894. the

  895. father

  896. saying

  897. this

  898. is

  899. my

  900. child

  901. this

  902. is

  903. my

  904. son

  905. with

  906. whom

  907. I

  908. am

  909. well

  910. pleased

  911. do

  912. you

  913. know

  914. that

  915. is

  916. the

  917. first

  918. time

  919. since

  920. the

  921. garden

  922. of

  923. Eden

  924. that

  925. any

  926. human

  927. being

  928. has

  929. ever

  930. received

  931. the

  932. blessing

  933. of

  934. God

  935. it's

  936. the

  937. only

  938. other

  939. time

  940. it's

  941. happened

  942. where

  943. God

  944. looked

  945. and

  946. said

  947. I'm

  948. really

  949. happy

  950. with

  951. this

  952. one

  953. this

  954. is

  955. good

  956. this

  957. is

  958. my

  959. son

  960. it's

  961. the

  962. only

  963. time

  964. you're

  965. reading

  966. the

  967. Bible

  968. since

  969. the

  970. garden

  971. of

  972. Eden

  973. Jesus

  974. Christ

  975. God

  976. the

  977. son

  978. had

  979. the

  980. delight

  981. and

  982. the

  983. love

  984. of

  985. God

  986. let

  987. me

  988. fast

  989. forward

  990. to

  991. Easter

  992. but

  993. on

  994. the

  995. cross

  996. he

  997. cries

  998. out

  999. my

  1000. God

  1001. my

  1002. God

  1003. why

  1004. have

  1005. you

  1006. forsaken

  1007. me

  1008. on

  1009. the

  1010. cross

  1011. Jesus

  1012. Christ

  1013. was

  1014. getting

  1015. the

  1016. curse

  1017. the

  1018. word

  1019. of

  1020. condemnation

  1021. that

  1022. we

  1023. deserve

  1024. for

  1025. us

  1026. worshipping

  1027. the

  1028. created

  1029. order

  1030. turning

  1031. our

  1032. backs

  1033. on

  1034. our

  1035. created

  1036. God

  1037. Jesus

  1038. took

  1039. the

  1040. curse

  1041. so

  1042. that

  1043. we

  1044. could

  1045. get

  1046. the

  1047. blessing

  1048. he

  1049. became

  1050. bad

  1051. so

  1052. that

  1053. we

  1054. might

  1055. become

  1056. very

  1057. very

  1058. good

  1059. and

  1060. receive

  1061. the

  1062. benediction

  1063. of

  1064. God

  1065. the

  1066. blessing

  1067. of

  1068. God

  1069. Colossians

  1070. 1

  1071. 21

  1072. once

  1073. you

  1074. were

  1075. alienated

  1076. from

  1077. God

  1078. and

  1079. were

  1080. enemies

  1081. in

  1082. your

  1083. minds

  1084. because

  1085. of

  1086. your

  1087. evil

  1088. behavior

  1089. but

  1090. now

  1091. he

  1092. has

  1093. reconciled

  1094. you

  1095. by

  1096. Christ

  1097. physical

  1098. body

  1099. through

  1100. death

  1101. to

  1102. present

  1103. you

  1104. holy

  1105. in

  1106. his

  1107. sight

  1108. without

  1109. blemish

  1110. and

  1111. free

  1112. from

  1113. accusation

  1114. you

  1115. see

  1116. if we

  1117. believe

  1118. the

  1119. good

  1120. news

  1121. of

  1122. Jesus

  1123. Christ

  1124. God

  1125. the

  1126. Lord

  1127. God

  1128. coming

  1129. into

  1130. the

  1131. world

  1132. to

  1133. rescue

  1134. us

  1135. from

  1136. our

  1137. rejection

  1138. of

  1139. not

  1140. just

  1141. our

  1142. redeemer

  1143. but

  1144. of

  1145. our

  1146. creator

  1147. if we

  1148. believe

  1149. the good

  1150. news

  1151. of the

  1152. Christian

  1153. gospel

  1154. then it

  1155. becomes

  1156. God's

  1157. recreative

  1158. word

  1159. to us

  1160. where he

  1161. declares us

  1162. as very

  1163. good

  1164. much

  1165. loved

  1166. the word

  1167. of the

  1168. gospel

  1169. is what

  1170. we

  1171. receive

  1172. from

  1173. God

  1174. because

  1175. of what

  1176. Jesus

  1177. has done

  1178. for us

  1179. in

  1180. Jesus

  1181. and

  1182. only

  1183. Jesus

  1184. do we

  1185. get the

  1186. blessing

  1187. of God

  1188. we

  1189. finally

  1190. hear the

  1191. affirmation

  1192. of our

  1193. creator

  1194. you

  1195. are

  1196. very

  1197. good

  1198. you

  1199. are my

  1200. much

  1201. loved

  1202. daughter

  1203. you

  1204. are my

  1205. much

  1206. loved

  1207. son

  1208. with

  1209. you

  1210. I

  1211. am

  1212. well

  1213. pleased

  1214. forever

  1215. you

  1216. know

  1217. what

  1218. the

  1219. doctrine

  1220. of

  1221. creation

  1222. means

  1223. the

  1224. doctrine

  1225. of

  1226. not

  1227. just

  1228. creation

  1229. but

  1230. redemption

  1231. in

  1232. Christ

  1233. it

  1234. means

  1235. that

  1236. none

  1237. of

  1238. us

  1239. because

  1240. of

  1241. the

  1242. affirmation

  1243. we

  1244. receive

  1245. in

  1246. Jesus

  1247. none

  1248. of

  1249. us

  1250. needs

  1251. to

  1252. squeeze

  1253. that

  1254. affirmation

  1255. out

  1256. of

  1257. our

  1258. partners

  1259. or

  1260. out

  1261. of

  1262. our

  1263. children

  1264. or

  1265. out

  1266. of

  1267. our

  1268. vocation

  1269. or

  1270. out

  1271. of

  1272. our

  1273. travel

  1274. blogs

  1275. or

  1276. our

  1277. assets

  1278. or

  1279. our

  1280. education

  1281. or

  1282. our

  1283. culture

  1284. it

  1285. is

  1286. the

  1287. affirmation

  1288. that

  1289. only

  1290. our

  1291. creator

  1292. can

  1293. give

  1294. us

  1295. and

  1296. it's

  1297. the

  1298. affirmation

  1299. that

  1300. we

  1301. all

  1302. need

  1303. the

  1304. recreative

  1305. word of

  1306. the gospel

  1307. goes

  1308. deep

  1309. into

  1310. our

  1311. hearts

  1312. and

  1313. it

  1314. heals

  1315. us

  1316. from

  1317. our

  1318. innermost

  1319. deepest

  1320. hurts

  1321. and

  1322. it

  1323. drives

  1324. us

  1325. out

  1326. from

  1327. there

  1328. to

  1329. be

  1330. people

  1331. healing

  1332. God's

  1333. world

  1334. in the

  1335. beginning

  1336. was

  1337. God

  1338. in the

  1339. end

  1340. will be

  1341. God

  1342. he

  1343. created

  1344. the

  1345. universe

  1346. and

  1347. he

  1348. can

  1349. make

  1350. you

  1351. new

  1352. now

  1353. have

  1354. have

  1355. you

  1356. accepted

  1357. Jesus

  1358. Christ

  1359. into

  1360. your

  1361. life

  1362. not

  1363. just

  1364. as

  1365. your

  1366. redeemer

  1367. but

  1368. also

  1369. as

  1370. your

  1371. creator

  1372. it

  1373. will

  1374. have

  1375. profound

  1376. impact

  1377. on

  1378. how

  1379. you

  1380. live

  1381. tomorrow

  1382. season

  1383. of

  1384. park

  1385. the

  1386. underneath

  1387. Idaho

  1388. is

  1389. you

  1390. can

  1391. you

  1392. imagine
