  1. Good morning. My name is Matthew Capone, and I'm the pastor here at Cheyenne Mountain

  2. Presbyterian Church, and it's my joy to bring God's Word to you today. A special welcome if

  3. you're new or visiting with us. We're glad that you're here, and we're glad that you're here not

  4. because we're trying to fill seats, but because we're following Jesus together as one community,

  5. and as we follow Jesus together, we become convinced that there's no one so good. They

  6. don't need God's grace, and no one so bad that they can't have it, which is why we come back

  7. week after week to hear what God has to say to us in His Word. We're taking a little break from our

  8. series in the Gospel of Mark for the season of Easter this morning for Palm Sunday. We're going

  9. to take a look at two passages, John chapter 12 and Hebrews chapter 2, and I'll warn you right away,

John 12 chapter mention Hebrews 2 chapter mention

  10. I'll be focusing mostly on Hebrews chapter 2, but I want us to look at John chapter 12 so we have

Hebrews 2 chapter mention John 12 chapter mention

  11. this reminder, this context of what it is we're talking about when we talk about Palm Sunday, that

  12. Jesus is coming in as a king into Jerusalem. And we're just going to have a simple question, which is

  13. this, why would we sing at Jesus entering Jerusalem? In our passage from John, I'm not sure if there's

  14. singing or not, but they're certainly praising Him. They're excited about the fact that Jesus is

  15. coming into the city, riding in like a king. Why should we be excited? What would move us to sing

  16. for Jesus entering Jerusalem? So with that question, I invite you to turn with me. You can find both

  17. passages printed in your worship guide. You can also flip quickly in your phone or in your Bible,

  18. no matter where you go, remember that this is God's Word. And God tells us that His Word is more

  19. precious than gold, even the finest gold, and it's sweeter than honey, even honey that comes straight

  20. from the honeycomb. And so that's why we read now, starting at John chapter 12, verses 12 through 15.

    John 12:12–15

  21. The next day, the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.

  22. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, crying out, Hosanna! Blessed is He who

  23. comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel. And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it,

  24. just as it is written, Fear not, daughter of Zion. Behold, your King is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt.

  25. And we turn now to Hebrews chapter 2, verses 14 and 15.

    Hebrews 2:14

  26. Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise partook of the same things,

  27. that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is the devil,

  28. and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.

  29. I invite you to pray with me as we come to this portion of God's Word.

  30. Our Father in heaven, we praise you that Jesus is not just our Savior, but He's also our King.

  31. And we thank you that you've given us your Word to instruct us and to help us.

  32. We ask for that help. This morning, we confess that we are not up to the task of understanding

  33. and believing what you have to tell us unless your Spirit and your help is with us.

  34. And so we ask for that Spirit and that help, that as we look at your words to us,

  35. that you would move in our hearts and our minds, that we would see and love and adore you more and more.

  36. We thank you that we don't have to worry right now about whether we've done enough or been good enough

  37. to earn these things from you, but instead we simply ask them in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

  38. Amen.

  39. Amen.

  40. Amen.

  41. The 2004 feel-good sports movie Miracle tells the story of the USA hockey team in 1980

  42. and how they defeated Russia, and it opens in Colorado Springs, of all places, in 1979

  43. at the headquarters of USA hockey.

  44. Later in the movie, we'll get to see a little bit of the Broadmoor World Arena from 1979.

  45. And there's this meeting, this interview with Herb Brooks, who they're considering to be the coach of this team,

  46. about how in the world they're going to be able to defeat the Soviet Union.

  47. The Soviet Union has this lock on the Olympics.

  48. They've won it for three or four Olympics in a row.

  49. And the American team has been incredibly embarrassed.

  50. They recently lost to a B team from the Czech Republic.

  51. And so they have this discussion about whether they have any hope

  52. and what they're going to be able to do if they're going to be able to pull together a team fast enough

  53. and train them quickly enough.

  54. Now, there's lots of ideas that are put onto the table about how it is they're going to be able to accomplish this,

  55. whether they have any chance against the Soviets.

  56. There's one idea, however, that never gets put on the table.

  57. No one suggests that they should try to find better players from other countries.

  58. Now, it seems like an obvious solution to me.

  59. The Russians are beating you.

  60. What should you do?

  61. Hire some Russians.

  62. Right?

  63. I mean, that seems like that would solve the problem immediately.

  64. And so why do they not do this?

  65. Why do they not recruit people from another country?

  66. If you think I'm asking a stupid question, it's because I am.

  67. It's obvious, right?

  68. That is part of the logic of the Olympics.

  69. That's part of the logic of victory.

  70. The champion has to be one of you.

  71. That question is not even raised.

  72. You probably think I'm an idiot for asking it because those are the rules.

  73. No one would think anything different.

  74. Of course, the USA Olympic team is made up of Americans.

  75. That's the only way it's going to be able to happen.

  76. You don't get to hire mercenaries.

  77. Mercenaries are in it for themselves, right?

  78. It's one of you who does it for all of you.

  79. Americans are required for an American victory.

  80. This principle is obvious to us when it comes to the Olympics.

  81. It is so obvious to the author of the book of Hebrews that he assumes it.

  82. Verse 14.

  83. If Jesus is going to be our great champion, of course, he's going to have to become human.

  84. That is the only way he's going to be able to represent us.

  85. Verse 14.

  86. Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things.

  87. In other words, he became a man that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death.

  88. Only Americans can represent America.

  89. Nothing else makes sense.

  90. It's obvious.

  91. Only a man can represent men.

  92. Jesus, as the champion of his people, becomes like his people.

  93. Jesus, as the champion of his people, wins for his people.

  94. That's the only way it can happen.

  95. Who won in 1980 against the Russians?

  96. Was it the 20 members of the team?

  97. Or was it the United States of America?

  98. Yes.

  99. Yes.

  100. It was the 20 members of the team and the United States of America.

  101. It was necessary for American players to defeat Russian players.

  102. It's the only way it could be a victory for America on behalf of America.

  103. It was necessary for a man to defeat Satan.

  104. That's the only way it could be a victory for men.

  105. That's what we see on Palm Sunday in our passage from the Gospel of John.

  106. Jesus, as the king, is coming in to defeat Satan.

  107. When Jesus rides into Jerusalem, he rides in as our champion.

  108. He rides in to be a conqueror.

  109. In the movie, when the final showdown comes between the Russian team and the American team,

  110. we see the Americans coming onto the ice for the first time as the crowd welcomes them

  111. because they have arrived to have the final showdown in battle.

  112. When Jesus rides in as our king on Palm Sunday,

  113. he is skating in on the ice, getting ready to defeat and conquer Satan.

  114. He is preparing for that battle.

  115. Jesus has showed up here in John chapter 12 because it's time for Satan to get trashed.

    John 12 chapter mention

  116. Why is it that we sing about Jesus entering Jerusalem?

  117. Why is it that we celebrate Palm Sunday?

  118. There are many things, certainly, that we celebrate around Easter.

  119. One of them is this.

  120. Our champion, Jesus, is entering the arena.

  121. Our champion, Jesus, has finally come into Jerusalem for the final showdown.

  122. Our champion, Jesus, is here to take Satan out back.

  123. If you look in your worship guide, page four, we have this verse from 1 John chapter 3, verse 8.

    1 John 3:8

  124. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

  125. Jesus came because Satan had to be crushed.

  126. Jesus came because of the promise that we read in Genesis chapter 3

    Genesis 3 chapter mention

  127. that one day the offspring of the woman would come and bruise the head of the serpent,

  128. which is a nice way of saying that Jesus came to curb-stomp Satan.

  129. That is why he is arriving here in Jerusalem.

  130. As the USA team enters into the arena before the game, what are the people shouting?

  131. It's USA, USA, right?

  132. Because that's what you do when your champion arrives.

  133. John chapter 12, what are these people saying as Jesus enters the arena?

    John 12 chapter mention

  134. Verse 13, Hosanna.

  135. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel.

  136. What do we do with Jesus, our King?

  137. We follow the people of Palm Sunday, and we praise him.

  138. We also are able to sing hallelujah.

  139. We are also able to say that Jesus is our great and mighty King,

  140. and we are excited in praising him here, now, this morning,

  141. because he has come as our champion to finish our enemy once and for all.

  142. That is why and what we celebrate at Palm Sunday.

  143. That's what we did earlier when we sang shout to the Lord together.

  144. We said, power and majesty, praise to the King.

  145. Jesus has skated onto the ice.

  146. And now, for the rest of Holy Week, we get to watch the game,

  147. knowing how it ends.

  148. The time for Satan to be defeated has come.

  149. And so we see here this answer, right?

  150. We praise him because he comes.

  151. He comes to wreck the devil, and we find out more,

  152. verse 14 of Hebrews chapter 2, what that means.

    Hebrews 2 chapter mention

  153. He himself likewise partook of the same things,

  154. that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death.

  155. Now, what does it mean here that Satan is the one who has the power of death?

  156. Well, I want you to think about it this way.

  157. I'm someone who enjoys a good trail run.

  158. One of my favorite places to go run is in Cheyenne Mountain State Park,

  159. which is just 10 minutes south of here.

  160. And when you run in Cheyenne Mountain State Park,

  161. one thing you have to be aware of is there's a lot of snakes.

  162. And snakes, during the summer, or really all the time, like to stay warm.

  163. Where's the best place for them to hang out if they want to stay warm?

  164. Right on the trail.

  165. Because there's no cover or protection on the trail.

  166. So they can just sit and lie out in the sun.

  167. And so my job as I'm running along is to keep my eyes open

  168. to make sure I don't step on a snake.

  169. In fact, there was one time I jumped over two snakes in a row.

  170. You might be thinking at this point,

  171. what is wrong with me that I would be running in the state park with all these snakes?

  172. Why do I not have a healthier fear?

  173. And the reason is this.

  174. It's not the bite that kills you.

  175. It's the venom.

  176. Most of the snakes in Cheyenne Mountain State Park are harmless.

  177. They are garter snakes.

  178. Garter snakes can bite you.

  179. They can't kill you.

  180. I did my research.

  181. There's only one snake in Cheyenne Mountain State Park that can kill you,

  182. and it's the rattlesnake.

  183. Now, I had a conversation, I think it's been a couple years at this point,

  184. with one of the park rangers over there,

  185. and they told me,

  186. you don't need to worry about the rattlesnakes too much

  187. because the rattlesnakes are extremely territorial,

  188. which means there's only a few of them.

  189. So you got all these garter snakes.

  190. I want to say, don't quote me on this,

  191. there's maybe like,

  192. I can probably count the rattlesnakes on one hand

  193. that are in Cheyenne Mountain State Park,

  194. and it's a big park.

  195. Okay?

  196. It's not the bite that kills you.

  197. It's the venom.

  198. The point is this.

  199. Outside of Jesus,

  200. death is a rattlesnake.

  201. Outside of Jesus,

  202. death is a rattlesnake.

  203. It doesn't just kill you physically,

  204. it doesn't just hurt you physically,

  205. the bite,

  206. it can also kill you spiritually,

  207. the venom.

  208. Death doesn't just kill you physically,

  209. the bite,

  210. it can kill you spiritually as well.

  211. It has venom.

  212. It can separate you from God forever.

  213. Outside of Jesus,

  214. death is a rattlesnake.

  215. With Jesus,

  216. death is a garter snake.

  217. The power of death has been removed.

  218. When death bit Jesus,

  219. he absorbed all its venom.

  220. There is no venom left.

  221. When death bites you,

  222. there is no venom left for you either.

  223. Okay?

  224. That's part of what 1 Corinthians 15 means

  225. when it says this.

  226. Oh, death,

  227. where is your victory?

  228. Oh, death,

  229. where is your sting?

  230. The sting of death is sin,

  231. and the power of sin is the law.

  232. But thanks be to God

  233. who gives us the victory

  234. through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  235. Oh, death,

  236. where is your sting?

  237. In other words,

  238. death,

  239. where is your venom?

  240. You know what all you can do now is?

  241. All you can do is bite.

  242. You can't kill.

  243. The reality of death

  244. is still here for all of us.

  245. If you're a Christian,

  246. its threat and its power is gone.

  247. That's why we both lament

  248. and rejoice at the funeral of a Christian.

  249. 1 Thessalonians 4 tells us

  250. that we grieve,

  251. but not as the world grieves

  252. because we have hope.

  253. We know that this person

  254. has experienced the bite.

  255. They are dead physically.

  256. We also know

  257. they have not experienced the venom.

  258. They are not dead spiritually.

  259. In fact,

  260. what's true of Paul

  261. says in Philippians 1

  262. that if they die,

  263. they go to be with Christ.

  264. They're in the presence of Jesus,

  265. and death cannot keep them from that.

  266. Death has lost its power.

  267. If you are a Christian,

  268. death will bite you,

  269. it will not and cannot

  270. ultimately kill you.

  271. It is inconvenient.

  272. It is uncomfortable.

  273. It is tragic.

  274. It is not ultimately fatal.

  275. Jesus dealt with the venom

  276. when he dealt with Satan.

  277. It cannot kill your soul.

  278. Death is not your end.

  279. Jesus disarms death.

  280. He has removed the power of Satan,

  281. which is the power of death.

  282. Now, if you were with us

  283. a few weeks ago

  284. when Jonathan Clark preached,

  285. he gave us this amazing,

  286. wonderful quote about our hope,

  287. and so I pinned him down on it,

  288. and I made him help me find it.

  289. And that quote is on page three

  290. of your worship,

  291. no, it's on page five

  292. of your worship guide.

  293. And he told us this,

  294. that if we're in Christ,

  295. we know that our bad things

  296. will turn out for good,

  297. our good things cannot be taken from us,

  298. and the best things are yet to come.

  299. Our bad things will turn out for good,

  300. our good things cannot be taken from us,

  301. and the best things are yet to come.

  302. Those things are true and only true

  303. because the power of death

  304. no longer has a hold on us.

  305. Our bad things will turn out for good,

  306. so there's nothing Satan can hold over us.

  307. Our good things cannot be taken away from us.

  308. Death does not threaten the inheritance

  309. that we have as sons and daughters of God,

  310. and the best things are yet to come.

  311. We know how the story ends.

  312. The story ends in a great,

  313. the greatest feast

  314. as we're gathered together again

  315. as God's people and brought back into his presence.

  316. In other words,

  317. no matter what happens in this life,

  318. we cannot lose what is most precious and valuable.

  319. No matter what happens in this life,

  320. it's what we talked about in 1 Peter 1,

  321. Satan cannot threaten our inheritance.

  322. We have a treasure that's been stored up

  323. that is untouchable.

  324. Why is that true?

  325. Because Jesus destroyed the devil.

  326. And that's what we're celebrating on Palm Sunday.

  327. Verse 14 also tells us about his strategy.

  328. It's not just that he destroyed the devil,

  329. but he did it through a specific way.

  330. Through death,

  331. he might destroy the one who has the power of death.

  332. He used death to destroy death.

  333. In the movie Miracle,

  334. as they're watching the game tape of the Russians,

  335. the coach points out to them

  336. that you don't defend the Russians,

  337. you attack them.

  338. You take their game

  339. and you shove it right back in their face.

  340. Because the Russians were used to being able

  341. to outskate anyone,

  342. and so they'd always stay on the attack,

  343. never on the defense.

  344. Their goal was to return

  345. and play their same game against them,

  346. to make them,

  347. force them to play defense

  348. and let the Americans play offense.

  349. Jesus takes death,

  350. he takes its game,

  351. and he shoves it right back in its face.

  352. Jesus does the unexpected,

  353. the counterintuitive,

  354. he uses death to destroy death.

  355. And so that's why verse 15,

  356. he's able to deliver us

  357. from the fear of death.

  358. He delivers all those

  359. who through fear of death

  360. were subject to lifelong slavery.

  361. This means a lot of things,

  362. to be delivered from the fear of death.

  363. It certainly means that we're delivered

  364. from death being held over our heads

  365. as a threat.

  366. We saw that with John the Baptist last week.

  367. Herod kills him.

  368. So what?

  369. John the Baptist gets to go

  370. and be with Christ.

  371. That's one of the amazing things

  372. about Christians during persecution.

  373. Death is not a threat to them.

  374. And so it's a challenge

  375. and a witness

  376. to those who are opposing them

  377. and persecuting them,

  378. that they have a supernatural hope

  379. beyond the grave.

  380. Doesn't just mean that death

  381. can no longer be held over our heads,

  382. but death not being a threat anymore

  383. means that we can look death

  384. in the face without fear.

  385. We live in a culture right now

  386. that refuses to look death in the face.

  387. That's why we live in a culture

  388. that is obsessed with youth.

  389. We live in a culture

  390. that's obsessed with looking

  391. and staying as young as possible,

  392. as long as possible.

  393. Why?

  394. Because they're subject

  395. to lifelong slavery

  396. through fear of death.

  397. If there's nothing after death,

  398. then you have to do

  399. everything you can to avoid it.

  400. You must not look it in the face.

  401. It's the same reason

  402. our culture can't talk about death.

  403. We used to have funerals

  404. and memorial services.

  405. Now we have celebrations of life.

  406. Now, first of all,

  407. don't hear what I'm not saying.

  408. If you've had a celebration of life,

  409. I'm not throwing you under the bus.

  410. What I am saying

  411. is that Christians

  412. are the only ones

  413. who can truly celebrate

  414. the life of someone who's died.

  415. If there is nothing

  416. after this life,

  417. then at some level,

  418. ultimately,

  419. everything in this life

  420. is meaningless.

  421. We cannot have

  422. a true celebration of life

  423. without grieving

  424. what needs to be grieved.

  425. And that celebration

  426. is hollow

  427. if there's nothing

  428. after death.

  429. That celebration

  430. is hollow

  431. if you and I

  432. are simply tortured

  433. atoms in this universe.

  434. But it's Christians

  435. who are no longer subject

  436. to lifelong slavery.

  437. It's because Jesus

  438. came and crushed

  439. the head of the serpent

  440. that we no longer

  441. have to fear death

  442. that we can look it

  443. in the eyes.

  444. We don't live

  445. with the fear of death

  446. because we look

  447. to something after it.

  448. We have hope

  449. for more.

  450. Tim Keller

  451. talks about this

  452. in his book

  453. Hope in Times of Fear

  454. which came out last year

  455. which is about the hope

  456. that we have

  457. because of the resurrection

  458. and he points out

  459. that life in this world,

  460. living in this world

  461. and our culture,

  462. we're told that there's

  463. nothing that comes

  464. after death.

  465. And he points out

  466. that ultimately

  467. that makes our lives

  468. meaningless.

  469. We try to take comfort

  470. in symbolic transcendence,

  471. the idea that what we do

  472. will live on

  473. in our work

  474. or in the lives

  475. of our children.

  476. But the reality

  477. is that in the end

  478. whether you live

  479. a life of goodness

  480. or of cruelty

  481. will make no final

  482. difference at all,

  483. the knowledge

  484. of ultimate oblivion

  485. even when somewhat repressed

  486. seeps in

  487. and robs life

  488. of significance.

  489. No one can live

  490. consistently

  491. with the belief

  492. that we are only matter

  493. and that our ultimate end

  494. is oblivion.

  495. So we have no hope.

  496. Unless.

  497. Unless there is a God

  498. who has promised

  499. to guide history

  500. not to an end

  501. but to a new beginning.

  502. to a world

  503. in which finally

  504. death and evil

  505. are completely destroyed

  506. and justice and peace

  507. reign supreme

  508. the sign of which

  509. is the resurrection.

  510. Brothers and sisters

  511. because Jesus

  512. rides in on Palm Sunday

  513. to crush the head

  514. of the devil

  515. you have hope

  516. not just in this life

  517. but in the life to come.

  518. What you do now

  519. truly does

  520. echo through eternity.

  521. what you suffer now

  522. cannot threaten

  523. what is most precious

  524. and most valuable.

  525. You no longer live

  526. in the lifelong slavery

  527. that comes

  528. through the fear of death.

  529. In the 2008 movie

  530. Gran Torino

  531. Clint Eastwood

  532. plays this man

  533. named Walt Kowalski

  534. and Walt is a bitter

  535. Vietnam War vet

  536. who forms a relationship

  537. with his neighbor

  538. a young boy

  539. named Tao.

  540. And Tao gets mixed up

  541. in a violent gang

  542. in town

  543. and finally gets

  544. on the wrong side of them

  545. the violence

  546. escalates

  547. more and more

  548. until Walt decides

  549. it's time

  550. for him

  551. to defend Tao

  552. and finish it

  553. once and for all.

  554. And so we see him

  555. making his preparations

  556. for his final showdown

  557. with a gang

  558. that's threatening

  559. his friend.

  560. He goes

  561. and he gets a haircut

  562. he makes sure

  563. his lawn is mowed

  564. he makes his final confession

  565. to a Catholic priest

  566. and then he shows up

  567. at the gang's apartment

  568. and he stands

  569. on the street

  570. in front of it.

  571. They open up

  572. their windows

  573. and they look

  574. out at him

  575. and Walt begins

  576. to yell at them

  577. telling them

  578. all the things

  579. that they've done wrong.

  580. While he's doing this

  581. all the windows

  582. in the neighborhood

  583. around him

  584. also open up

  585. and so we have

  586. this scene

  587. with tons of spectators

  588. watching every move.

  589. As the gang members

  590. draw their guns

  591. we see Walt

  592. pull out a cigarette

  593. and then he reaches

  594. into his jacket

  595. like he's going

  596. to pull out a gun.

  597. instead

  598. he pulls it out

  599. and all he's holding

  600. is a lighter

  601. for his cigarette

  602. and at that moment

  603. the gang kills him.

  604. They just open fire

  605. in the street

  606. and we see this man

  607. fall down dead.

  608. What he does there

  609. is the exact opposite

  610. of what we expect.

  611. The last thing

  612. we think is going

  613. to happen

  614. is that Clint Eastwood

  615. is going to show up

  616. to a gunfight

  617. with nothing but a lighter

  618. and give up his life.

  619. What we want

  620. in that situation

  621. is for him to come

  622. and bring full

  623. and final justice

  624. by being the one

  625. not who is shot

  626. but the one

  627. who does the shooting.

  628. But instead

  629. he reverses

  630. all of our expectations

  631. as something radical

  632. and counterintuitive

  633. and different.

  634. Walt decides

  635. that he is going

  636. to defeat death

  637. by death.

  638. he is going

  639. to defeat this gang

  640. not by shooting

  641. but by being shot.

  642. And so in the next scene

  643. we see the police officers

  644. showing up

  645. and they tell Tal

  646. that because Clint

  647. has done this

  648. in the open square

  649. where everyone

  650. can see it

  651. they have all

  652. the witnesses

  653. they need

  654. to finally convict

  655. and imprison this gang.

  656. Walt knows

  657. that the chain

  658. of violence

  659. is not going

  660. to be ended

  661. by more violence

  662. but by death.

  663. brothers and sisters

  664. we also have a king

  665. who rode in on a donkey

  666. and did something

  667. the opposite

  668. of what the Jewish people

  669. wanted and expected.

  670. They were looking

  671. for a conqueror

  672. who would clean house

  673. with the Romans

  674. who would use force

  675. to end force.

  676. Instead he comes

  677. to trample

  678. and crush

  679. the head

  680. of the enemy

  681. of his people.

  682. He comes

  683. to take care of

  684. and destroy

  685. Satan

  686. once and for all.

  687. he defeats

  688. death

  689. through death.

  690. Tal

  691. is no longer

  692. subject

  693. to the lifelong

  694. slavery

  695. the fear

  696. of the gang.

  697. He is now

  698. able

  699. to live

  700. his life.

  701. Why is it

  702. that we celebrate

  703. Palm Sunday?

  704. We celebrate it

  705. because it is

  706. when Jesus

  707. came in

  708. to fully

  709. and finally

  710. destroy

  711. the works

  712. of the devil.

  713. And so that's

  714. why we're able

  715. to say

  716. with the people

  717. in the crowd

  718. Hosanna

  719. blessed is he

  720. who comes

  721. in the name

  722. of the Lord

  723. even

  724. the king

  725. of Israel.

  726. Let's pray.

  727. our father

  728. in heaven

  729. we praise

  730. you

  731. and thank

  732. you

  733. that you

  734. are not

  735. just our

  736. savior

  737. but our

  738. king

  739. that you

  740. came

  741. and you

  742. defeated

  743. and trampled

  744. Satan

  745. once and for all.

  746. We ask you

  747. would give us

  748. the hope

  749. that comes

  750. from knowing

  751. that death

  752. cannot threaten

  753. what is most

  754. valuable

  755. to us

  756. that it can

  757. bite us

  758. but it cannot

  759. kill us.

  760. We ask that you

  761. would show us

  762. Jesus this week

  763. in all his

  764. beauty

  765. and his

  766. glory

  767. and you'd

  768. bring us

  769. back together

  770. on Friday

  771. and on Sunday

  772. that we would

  773. remember and

  774. celebrate and know

  775. what it is

  776. that he's done

  777. for us.

  778. We ask all

  779. these things

  780. in the mighty

  781. name of Jesus

  782. Christ.

  783. Amen.

  784. I invite you

  785. to stand

  786. for our

  787. closing hymn.
