  1. My name is Matthew Capone, and I'm the pastor here at Cheyenne Mountain Presbyterian Church.

  2. And it's my joy to bring God's word to you today.

  3. A special welcome if you're new or visiting with us.

  4. We're glad that you're here.

  5. And we're glad that you're here not because we are trying to fill seats,

  6. but because we're following Jesus together as one community.

  7. And as we follow Jesus together, we've become convinced that there's no one so good.

  8. They don't need God's grace.

  9. And no one's so bad that they can't have it.

  10. Which is why we come back week after week to hear what God has to say to us in his word.

  11. This morning, we're taking a break from our series in the book of Judges,

  12. because believe it or not, it's Easter.

  13. That's Resurrection Sunday, when we as a church celebrate the fact that Jesus, in fact, rose from the dead.

  14. Now, when we talk about Jesus, it's important to remember we're not talking about an abstraction or an idea or a theory.

  15. We are, in fact, talking about a historical figure, a real man.

  16. Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem, which is five to six miles south of Jerusalem.

  17. And he grew up in Nazareth, which is 64 to 65 miles north of Jerusalem.

  18. Jesus was one of at least seven kids.

  19. And he had both brothers and sisters.

  20. Real man, real time, real space.

  21. It's also important to remember that the resurrection is not a metaphor.

  22. When we speak about the resurrection, we are speaking about a real historical event,

  23. an event that had numerous, many eyewitnesses.

  24. And so every Resurrection Sunday, every Easter, we come together and we talk about what that means for us,

  25. how, in fact, it gives us real hope and joy now.

  26. We're going to turn this morning to the book of 1 Peter.

  27. And the book of 1 Peter is a letter written by the Apostle Peter.

  28. He writes it in the first century A.D. to churches in modern-day Turkey.

  29. And these churches are feeling out of place in the world, and they're facing opposition from the world.

  30. And so they have this temptation, the temptation with all the heat coming in against them,

  31. to give up on Christianity.

  32. And so Peter writes to encourage them.

  33. Peter writes telling them why the resurrection is a better hope than any other hope,

  34. why it is worth suffering for.

  35. And so that's where we're headed this morning.

  36. We're in 1 Peter 1.

  37. We're going to look at verses 3 through 9.

  38. Our focus will be 3 and 4, especially 4,

  39. but we'll read 5 through 9 just so we have a larger, broader context.

  40. And as we come to this passage, I imagine that there are a few of us who are Christians,

  41. and for us, the resurrection is our life.

  42. We think of it when we wake up in the morning,

  43. and it orients the rest of our day and our weeks and our months.

  44. I would imagine for many more of us, it is actually a constant struggle for us to remember the resurrection,

  45. for it to be something as Christians that shapes our minds and our hearts and our lives.

  46. Some of us are not Christians.

  47. Perhaps you have doubts or questions or objections to Christianity.

  48. No matter which of those three categories you fall into, we're here together this morning,

  49. and I hope that you're here because all of us need to be reminded of the great resources,

  50. the great hope that we have from the fact that Jesus rose from the dead.

  51. And so it's with that I invite you to turn with me in God's Word.

  52. You can turn in your worship guide.

  53. You can turn on your phone.

  54. You can turn in your Bible.

  55. No matter where you turn, remember that this is God's Word.

  56. God tells us that His Word is more precious than gold, even the finest gold,

  57. and it's sweeter than honey, even honey that comes straight from the honeycomb.

  58. And so that's why we read now 1 Peter 1, starting at verse 3.

  59. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  60. According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope

  61. through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

  62. to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading,

  63. kept in heaven for you,

  64. who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation,

  65. ready to be revealed in the last time.

  66. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while,

  67. if necessary, you've been grieved by various trials,

  68. so that the tested genuineness of your faith,

  69. more precious than gold that perishes,

  70. though it is tested by fire,

  71. may be found to result in praise and glory and honor

  72. at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

  73. Though you have not seen Him, you love Him.

  74. Though you do not now see Him, you believe in Him

  75. and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,

  76. obtaining the outcome of your faith,

  77. the salvation of your souls.

  78. I invite you to pray with me as we come to this portion of God's word.

  79. Our Father in heaven, we do praise you and thank you again.

  80. We did not choose you, but you chose us.

  81. We did not figure out that we should come here this morning

  82. because we were smart enough and skilled enough,

  83. but instead, you've called us here.

  84. You brought us.

  85. And so we ask that you would remind us of your grace in that,

  86. and you would use your word this morning to show us Jesus once again,

  87. that you would remind us of the glory and the beauty of His resurrection,

  88. that you strengthen us with the hope that it provides,

  89. and that you would use this worship service to change us,

  90. that we would look more and more like your Son and our Savior, our Lord Jesus.

  91. It's in His name that we ask all of these things,

  92. Amen.

  93. A man named William Farley tells the story of many years ago

  94. when he visited a vineyard in the Napa Valley of California.

  95. And when he was at this vineyard,

  96. he had a chance to speak to the foreman

  97. who explained to him many of the dynamics of the work that they performed.

  98. He told him that the grapevines that they grew

  99. could reach an age of 80 to 100 years old.

  100. And then, in fact, they were not most productive

  101. until they hit around 30 to 50 years old.

  102. This was a long-term process of developing these grapevines,

  103. of growing this vineyard.

  104. In fact, he told him that, in fact,

  105. the taproot of many of these grapevines

  106. could grow 30 to 40 feet deep.

  107. Some of them grew so deep

  108. that they actually reached the water table

  109. far beneath the surface of the earth.

  110. And those vines became what is called self-irrigating.

  111. In other words, they had this resource,

  112. this reservoir of water

  113. that they had access to

  114. regardless of what was happening

  115. on the top of the earth.

  116. Whatever was happening up top,

  117. they could sort of be unfazed by it.

  118. Is there a drought?

  119. No problem.

  120. Is there incredible intense heat?

  121. No sweat.

  122. Because these grapevines have these resources, right,

  123. that transcend what's happening up above.

  124. William Farley provides this image

  125. because it reminds us of what, in fact,

  126. the Christian life should be like as we live it.

  127. We should have this deep reservoir of resources,

  128. a separate source of hope and peace and joy.

  129. We should have that independent

  130. of what's happening today.

  131. We have that as it transcends

  132. whatever the events are of this day or week or month.

  133. And as you hear that, you listen to that,

  134. you might think, wow, that sounds really great.

  135. Also, that's not really my experience as a Christian.

  136. In fact, if we are honest,

  137. we would have to admit

  138. that this is more aspiration than reality for most of us.

  139. We live lives riddled with fear and anxiety and greed.

  140. Our hearts ride the roller coaster

  141. of success and failure and wealth and poverty

  142. and praise and criticism and status

  143. and loss and recognition.

  144. The churches in Asia Minor and Turkey

  145. who are receiving Peter's letter

  146. also know what it's like to be rattled

  147. by the circumstances around them.

  148. And so Peter writes to them

  149. to remind them of the great reservoir

  150. that's provided by Christ's resurrection.

  151. He writes to remind them

  152. that they have a source, in fact,

  153. of hope and peace and joy

  154. that is tied beyond this world.

  155. He raises the question for them,

  156. the same question that we have,

  157. where is it that we can get unshakable hope?

  158. Christian, how can you have

  159. a deep reservoir untouched by this world?

  160. How can you have a root

  161. that goes 30 to 40 feet deep?

  162. Well, Peter points us

  163. to the benefits of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

  164. And he does that here in verses 3 and 4.

  165. He tells us, verse 3,

  166. we've been born again to a living hope

  167. through the resurrection of Jesus Christ

  168. from the dead to an inheritance.

  169. In other words, Jesus' resurrection means

  170. that if you are a Christian,

  171. you have a great inheritance.

  172. There is something that is in the future for you

  173. that you do not experience in the present.

  174. And so Peter gives us the simple principle

  175. that I mentioned during our confession of faith,

  176. which is this,

  177. whatever we believe about the future

  178. dramatically affects how we live in the present.

  179. Imagine, for example,

  180. you have two people,

  181. they're virtually identical.

  182. Both of them are living in great poverty.

  183. One of them has no hope

  184. of that poverty ever ending.

  185. The other one knows

  186. that there is a relative

  187. who has named them in their will.

  188. And this relative is decades older than them.

  189. They know the amount that's coming to them.

  190. And so as they live in the present,

  191. they have great hope in the future.

  192. They don't give in to the hopelessness

  193. and despair that the other one might have

  194. because they know there is something different coming.

  195. That's the encouragement that Peter is giving here.

  196. You'll see this in page nine of your worship guide.

  197. It's staggering how expectations can alter

  198. how you interpret current circumstances.

  199. Peter is reminding the Christians

  200. in these churches of this.

  201. No matter what's happening now,

  202. you have a great future.

  203. No matter what you're suffering now,

  204. there's great hope.

  205. No matter your loss,

  206. the best things are yet to come.

  207. What is this inheritance though?

  208. What are the good things that are to come

  209. because of Jesus' resurrection?

  210. The apostle Paul tells us in Romans chapter eight

  211. that we are fellow heirs with Jesus Christ,

  212. meaning that whatever Christ's inheritance is,

  213. whatever it is he earns and receives,

  214. those things are true of us as well.

  215. And what is it that Christ accomplishes

  216. in his death and resurrection?

  217. Well, it's the defeat of sin.

  218. It's the defeat of death.

  219. And so this inheritance,

  220. it encompasses all of those things that are coming

  221. when we see death and sin

  222. finally put under the ground.

  223. It means the new heavens and the new earth.

  224. It's part of our future inheritance.

  225. It means the death finally and fully of sin

  226. in our own lives.

  227. We will no longer experience tension with others

  228. because of our words and our actions

  229. and our selfishness.

  230. No, instead, we're gonna experience harmony

  231. and harmony and unity with those around us

  232. better than we can even imagine right now.

  233. It means that we will be at peace

  234. with God and with ourselves.

  235. We'll be free finally from anxiety,

  236. from depression, from guilt, from anger.

  237. The inheritance though is not just freedom from sin

  238. in our own lives.

  239. It's freedom from sin in society

  240. and communities and nations.

  241. There will be no more systemic injustice,

  242. cruel and abusive leaders.

  243. There will be no more contentious elections.

  244. There will be no hunger,

  245. no more poverty,

  246. no more strife.

  247. Our inheritance though is not just freedom from sin

  248. in our own lives,

  249. freedom from sin in our society.

  250. It's also this restored creation.

  251. In Romans chapter eight,

  252. Paul also talks about the fact

  253. that this world,

  254. the natural order,

  255. is groaning with this longing for redemption.

  256. There is some sense

  257. in which the mountains and the trees

  258. cannot wait for Jesus to come back

  259. because there will be no more sickness,

  260. no more disease.

  261. Your bodies will work perfectly.

  262. The earth will be free of pollution.

  263. You will no longer take Zyrtec

  264. because allergies will come to an end.

  265. Because of Jesus' resurrection,

  266. there are better things to come

  267. than we can even imagine.

  268. Because of Jesus' resurrection,

  269. there are things in this world

  270. that no matter how rich

  271. and powerful

  272. and successful you are,

  273. you cannot even come close

  274. to experiencing.

  275. You have an inheritance,

  276. imperishable,

  277. undefiled,

  278. unfading,

  279. kept in heaven for you.

  280. Peter gives us a lot of words here

  281. to try to understand

  282. what this inheritance is like.

  283. Now I have to confess to you this morning

  284. two things.

  285. One,

  286. I buy a lot of chocolate milk.

  287. And not only that,

  288. I am the obnoxious person

  289. in the grocery store

  290. who digs around with the cartons

  291. to find the expiration date

  292. that is farthest off in the future.

  293. I mean,

  294. I'm just one man, right?

  295. I can only drink

  296. so much chocolate milk.

  297. And so if I see

  298. that the expiration date

  299. is two days from now,

  300. am I going to buy the big jug?

  301. No,

  302. of course not, right?

  303. That would be foolish.

  304. I'm going to drive it,

  305. buy the small jug.

  306. Small jug.

  307. Why?

  308. Because the milk

  309. is perishable.

  310. Right?

  311. It is not going to last forever.

  312. If I don't get

  313. while the getting's good,

  314. I'm either not going to get any

  315. or my body is going to rebel

  316. in a tremendous way.

  317. Peter says,

  318. look,

  319. this is not what your inheritance is like.

  320. There is no expiration date.

  321. It is imperishable.

  322. No matter how long you wait for it,

  323. it will not go bad.

  324. No matter how long you suffer

  325. in this world,

  326. it will still be waiting for you.

  327. There is nothing

  328. that can cause it to spoil.

  329. It's imperishable.

  330. There's no best by date.

  331. There is no sell-by date

  332. on the inheritance

  333. that is yours

  334. because of Jesus' resurrection.

  335. Peter also tells us

  336. it's undefiled,

  337. which is his way of saying

  338. this inheritance

  339. is not going to be affected

  340. or touched

  341. by sin.

  342. The very best experiences

  343. that you have in this world,

  344. the closest

  345. and most intimate relationships

  346. in your life,

  347. even when you see creation

  348. at its best,

  349. sin is still there

  350. in the background.

  351. You are still not seeing it

  352. for as good as it can be.

  353. Not so, Christian,

  354. with your inheritance.

  355. You will experience

  356. finally

  357. the world

  358. without sin.

  359. And so he tells us

  360. it's imperishable,

  361. it's untainted

  362. or undefiled.

  363. We're also told

  364. that it is unfading.

  365. You may have noticed

  366. last Sunday,

  367. if you're a careful observer,

  368. that my car

  369. was not in the parking lot

  370. of this church

  371. because my car

  372. was in the body shop.

  373. I got rear-ended

  374. last year

  375. and I finally made it

  376. into the schedule

  377. many months later

  378. so I could get

  379. a new bumper.

  380. I went to

  381. Red Nolan Collision Center

  382. here in town,

  383. which I cannot recommend

  384. highly enough.

  385. And they broke

  386. some very bad news

  387. to me when I took

  388. my car in.

  389. They said,

  390. this is the last time

  391. we will ever help you

  392. because we don't see cars

  393. older than 10 years old.

  394. So you've aged out.

  395. Like, we're going to

  396. let you slide in here,

  397. we'll give you

  398. a new bumper,

  399. don't come back.

  400. Why?

  401. Because my car

  402. is fading.

  403. Right?

  404. There's a sense

  405. in which there's

  406. a relative fading,

  407. it's fading

  408. in comparison

  409. to new cars.

  410. So for a glorious

  411. few days,

  412. I got to drive

  413. around this rental car,

  414. it was a Corolla Cross,

  415. and I thought,

  416. wow,

  417. there's a lot

  418. of wonderful things

  419. that have been put

  420. in cars

  421. in the last 10 years.

  422. This is what it's like

  423. to drive a new car.

  424. So it's fading

  425. in this relative sense,

  426. right?

  427. My car is less

  428. and less relevant.

  429. It does not have

  430. car play in it.

  431. It does not have

  432. all the bells and whistles.

  433. It doesn't beep at me,

  434. you know,

  435. if I'm about to hit someone.

  436. There's also

  437. an absolute fading.

  438. My car is not

  439. as glorious

  440. as it was

  441. 10 years ago.

  442. My headlights,

  443. they're kind of foggy.

  444. They don't light up

  445. the roads

  446. like they did

  447. back in 2013,

  448. 2014.

  449. They're chips,

  450. right,

  451. from the rocks

  452. of Colorado.

  453. I have a cracked

  454. windshield.

  455. Time

  456. has its effect

  457. on all things.

  458. time wears

  459. down all things

  460. where they become

  461. less and less

  462. beautiful.

  463. Not so

  464. with your inheritance.

  465. It is imperishable,

  466. undefiled,

  467. unfading.

  468. No matter how long

  469. you wait,

  470. no matter what happens

  471. in this world,

  472. it will be as glorious

  473. then as it is

  474. now.

  475. That brings us

  476. back to our question,

  477. which is this,

  478. where do we get

  479. that unshakable

  480. hope?

  481. What does it look

  482. like for our roots

  483. to go 30

  484. and 40 feet

  485. into the ground

  486. that we can access

  487. a water table

  488. separate from

  489. whatever is

  490. happening

  491. today?

  492. Well,

  493. it's reminding

  494. ourselves

  495. of this truth.

  496. No matter

  497. what happens

  498. now

  499. in this world,

  500. it cannot

  501. affect

  502. your future

  503. with Christ.

  504. No matter

  505. what is shaken

  506. temporarily,

  507. your inheritance

  508. is secure.

  509. Your hope

  510. cannot be

  511. taken away.

  512. Let's say

  513. that you

  514. get in your car

  515. and you drive

  516. away after the

  517. service today

  518. and you're

  519. filled with

  520. hope from

  521. our celebration

  522. of Easter

  523. and you get

  524. in a horrific

  525. car accident

  526. and it turns

  527. out that you're

  528. actually paralyzed

  529. from the neck

  530. down.

  531. Your life

  532. will change

  533. dramatically

  534. and the promise

  535. of a new body

  536. in the new heavens

  537. and the new earth

  538. is untouched.

  539. Your future,

  540. your ultimate future

  541. changes in no way.

  542. You still have

  543. an inheritance

  544. that is imperishable,

  545. undefiled,

  546. unfading,

  547. kept in heaven

  548. for you.

  549. Let's say that you are

  550. falsely accused

  551. of a crime

  552. you didn't commit

  553. and you end up

  554. spending the next

  555. 20 years

  556. in prison.

  557. That is a real

  558. tragedy.

  559. And

  560. you will

  561. still experience,

  562. if you are

  563. in Christ,

  564. better things

  565. than anyone

  566. on this earth

  567. has ever

  568. seen.

  569. your future,

  570. your ultimate

  571. future

  572. remains

  573. the same.

  574. Your inheritance

  575. is imperishable,

  576. undefiled,

  577. and unfading,

  578. kept

  579. in heaven

  580. for you.

  581. Let's say

  582. the stock market

  583. crashes tomorrow

  584. and you thought

  585. that you were

  586. going to be able

  587. to retire

  588. and now

  589. that becomes

  590. more of a dream

  591. than a reality.

  592. Your financial

  593. security

  594. may decrease,

  595. your ultimate

  596. future

  597. is unchanged.

  598. That

  599. is the

  600. water table

  601. of the Christian.

  602. That

  603. is the

  604. source

  605. of hope

  606. and peace

  607. and joy

  608. no matter

  609. what.

  610. You'll see

  611. this on page

  612. nine of your

  613. worship guide.

  614. What many

  615. people would

  616. spend millions

  617. to attain,

  618. God has

  619. made available

  620. to every

  621. believer

  622. through the

  623. gift of

  624. the Holy

  625. Spirit.

  626. Christian,

  627. you have

  628. a hope.

  629. You have

  630. a future

  631. future

  632. that others

  633. spend their

  634. lives

  635. trying to

  636. secure

  637. and never

  638. achieve.

  639. You are

  640. richer

  641. than you

  642. can imagine.

  643. Financial

  644. advisors will

  645. tell you not

  646. to watch

  647. your portfolio

  648. too closely

  649. if you want

  650. to stay

  651. sane

  652. because the

  653. ups and

  654. the downs

  655. of the market

  656. are so

  657. constant.

  658. It's easy

  659. for our

  660. hearts to

  661. become

  662. tethered

  663. to those

  664. things and

  665. lose

  666. perspective

  667. on the

  668. big picture.

  669. Peter is

  670. telling us

  671. the opposite

  672. here.

  673. Keep your

  674. eyes on

  675. this

  676. portfolio.

  677. Watch

  678. this

  679. portfolio

  680. every day.

  681. Remind

  682. yourself

  683. constantly

  684. of what

  685. cannot

  686. be touched.

  687. And as

  688. life swirls

  689. around you,

  690. you will

  691. have a

  692. peace

  693. and a

  694. security

  695. and a

  696. stability

  697. that others

  698. can only

  699. dream of.

  700. For those

  701. who are in

  702. Christ,

  703. nothing

  704. and no

  705. one

  706. can touch

  707. your

  708. inheritance.

  709. No tragedy,

  710. no accident,

  711. no loss.

  712. Paul also

  713. tells us

  714. in Romans

    Romans 8 chapter mention

  715. chapter 8

  716. this,

  717. For I

  718. consider that

  719. the sufferings

  720. of this

  721. present time

  722. are not

  723. worth comparing

  724. with the

  725. glory that

  726. is to be

  727. revealed to

  728. us.

  729. What is

  730. the hardest

  731. and most

  732. discouraging

  733. thing in

  734. your life?

  735. it is

  736. not worth

  737. being

  738. compared

  739. to the

  740. glory

  741. that is

  742. going to

  743. be

  744. revealed.

  745. If you

  746. are in

  747. Christ,

  748. the best

  749. things are

  750. yet to

  751. come.

  752. And so

  753. this raises

  754. the piercing

  755. question for

  756. all of us.

  757. What is

  758. the glory

  759. of your

  760. life?

  761. What is

  762. the hope

  763. that you

  764. have above

  765. every other

  766. hope?

  767. What is

  768. the security

  769. that you

  770. rest your

  771. feet on?

  772. Anything

  773. else,

  774. anything

  775. besides the

  776. resurrection of

  777. Jesus Christ,

  778. which earns

  779. you an

  780. inheritance

  781. that is

  782. imperishable,

  783. unfading,

  784. and undefiled

  785. will

  786. disappoint.

  787. Anything

  788. else

  789. will fail.

  790. Health,

  791. wealth,

  792. relationships,

  793. all good

  794. things,

  795. not

  796. ultimate

  797. things.

  798. There is

  799. one thing

  800. that is

  801. most worthwhile,

  802. one thing

  803. that is

  804. most valuable,

  805. one thing

  806. that you

  807. cannot

  808. lose,

  809. and that

  810. is your

  811. water

  812. table.

  813. That

  814. is what

  815. the roots

  816. of the

  817. Christian

  818. draw water

  819. from deep

  820. underneath

  821. the surface.

  822. It's not a

  823. pie-in-the-sky

  824. hope.

  825. It's not a

  826. maybe hope.

  827. Peter tells us

  828. in verse 3

  829. it's a living

  830. hope.

  831. It's not

  832. based on

  833. someone's

  834. projection

  835. about what

  836. might happen

  837. in the

  838. future.

  839. No,

  840. it's based

  841. on the

  842. fact that

  843. Jesus,

  844. as a

  845. real man

  846. in real

  847. time and

  848. real space,

  849. actually died

  850. and actually

  851. rose again

  852. from the

  853. dead.

  854. Paul tells

  855. us in

  856. 1 Corinthians

    1 Corinthians 15 chapter mention

  857. chapter 15

  858. this is not

  859. just some

  860. idea that

  861. someone

  862. created.

  863. No,

  864. there were

  865. eyewitnesses

  866. who saw

  867. Jesus after

  868. his resurrection.

  869. In fact,

  870. at one

  871. point,

  872. there were

  873. 500 people

  874. who saw

  875. him at

  876. one time.

  877. We're not

  878. getting into

  879. this this

  880. morning,

  881. but there

  882. are many

  883. and great

  884. reasons that

  885. Christians

  886. believe that

  887. Jesus did

  888. in fact

  889. rise from

  890. the dead.

  891. And so

  892. there is

  893. great security

  894. in knowing

  895. what will

  896. happen in

  897. the future.

  898. God

  899. tells us,

  900. John chapter

    John 5 chapter mention

  901. 5,

  902. there will

  903. be a

  904. resurrection,

  905. a resurrection

  906. to life

  907. and a

  908. resurrection

  909. to judgment.

  910. Those who

  911. are in

  912. Christ will

  913. experience a

  914. resurrection

  915. to life.

  916. Christian,

  917. that is

  918. your

  919. unshakable

  920. hope.

  921. love.

  922. That is

  923. what gives

  924. you joy

  925. and peace

  926. and hope

  927. and confidence

  928. no matter

  929. what.

  930. Because Jesus

  931. has risen

  932. from the

  933. dead.

  934. Let's

  935. pray.

  936. Our

  937. Father in

  938. heaven,

  939. we do

  940. thank you

  941. that you

  942. have made

  943. us a

  944. great promise

  945. that we

  946. do have

  947. an inheritance

  948. that's better

  949. even than we

  950. can imagine.

  951. And that no

  952. matter what

  953. happens here,

  954. it cannot

  955. be taken

  956. away.

  957. We ask

  958. that you

  959. would grow

  960. that hope

  961. in our

  962. hearts that

  963. it would

  964. become more

  965. and more

  966. real to

  967. our minds

  968. and our

  969. affections

  970. and that

  971. it would

  972. give us

  973. a steady

  974. and unshakable

  975. a daily

  976. peace and

  977. joy in

  978. you.

  979. That as the

  980. world swirls

  981. around us,

  982. we would

  983. have calm

  984. as we stand

  985. on that

  986. foundation,

  987. the only

  988. foundation that

  989. cannot be

  990. shaken.

  991. We ask

  992. these things

  993. in the mighty

  994. name of

  995. Jesus Christ.

  996. Amen.
