  1. And it is called Romans for a very simple reason, which is that it's written to the churches in the city of Rome.

  2. And this letter is about the gospel.

  3. It's about the good news of Jesus' death and resurrection.

  4. Last week we ended chapter 6.

  5. You'll remember chapter 6 was asking this one big question, which is,

  6. hey, in light of God's grace, do we actually need to obey?

  7. Do we need to live lives of holiness or can we just do whatever we want?

  8. And Paul gave us three main reasons, told us, no, actually, belonging to Christ, you continue to walk in his ways.

  9. This morning we're continuing chapter 7.

  10. Chapter 7 is related but different.

  11. Chapter 7 focuses on the law of God.

  12. Meaning, when we talk about the law, we're talking about God's commands to mankind.

  13. And so we can think about the law in a couple ways.

  14. In the Old Testament, the law is summarized in the Ten Commandments.

  15. So it's more than the Ten Commandments, but that's the main summary.

  16. That's the high points of the law.

  17. In the New Testament, in Matthew chapter 22, Jesus summarizes the law and he says it's really two things.

    Matthew 22 chapter mention

  18. Love God and love your neighbor as yourself.

  19. So that's the law.

  20. The Old Testament summarized in the Ten Commandments.

  21. In the New Testament, summarizes loving God and loving neighbor.

  22. So this is, again, the follow-on to chapter 6.

  23. If we are supposed to obey, if we're supposed to do what God says,

  24. which is what chapter 6 says,

  25. how do we think about God's law?

  26. What is our relationship to God's law?

  27. Even more than that, how do we obey God's law?

  28. Where, in fact, do we get the power?

  29. Those are the questions of chapter 7, which is where we turn now.

  30. I'm going to invite you to turn with me to Romans chapter 7, starting at verse 1.

    Romans 7 chapter mention

  31. You can turn to page 7 of your worship guide.

  32. Wherever you turn, remember that this is God's word.

  33. In Proverbs chapter 30, verse 5, tells us,

    Proverbs 30:5

  34. every word of God proves true.

  35. He's a shield to those who take refuge in him.

  36. Which is why we read now Romans chapter 7, starting at verse 1.

    Romans 7 chapter mention

  37. Or do you not know, brothers?

  38. For I am speaking to those who know the law,

  39. that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives.

  40. For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives.

  41. But if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage.

  42. Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man

  43. while her husband is alive.

  44. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law.

  45. And if she marries another man, she is not an adulteress.

  46. Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ,

  47. so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead.

  48. In order that we may bear fruit for God.

  49. For while we were living in the flesh,

  50. our sinful passions, aroused by the law,

  51. were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.

  52. But now we are released from the law,

  53. having died to that which held us captive,

  54. so that we serve in the new way of the spirit

  55. and not in the old way of the written.

  56. code.

  57. I invite you to pray with me as we come to this portion of God's word.

  58. Our Father in heaven,

  59. we thank you and we praise you again this morning

  60. for sustaining us in our lives,

  61. for bringing us here to worship you together.

  62. Father, we thank you for your word that brings us life and truth.

  63. We ask that you be at work by your Holy Spirit this morning,

  64. bringing your word to us.

  65. We ask that you would clear our minds,

  66. you'd soften our hearts,

  67. you'd open our ears and our eyes,

  68. that we'd be able to see and hear and believe

  69. and understand everything that's written in your word.

  70. And we ask most of all that you would show us Jesus.

  71. We'd grow in our love and our affection and our obedience to him.

  72. We ask these things in his mighty name.

  73. Amen.

  74. Many of you know,

  75. and I've said before,

  76. that I am an East Coast boy.

  77. I grew up right outside Washington, D.C.

  78. and you can take the boy out of the East Coast,

  79. but you can't take the East Coast out of the boy.

  80. And sometimes people ask me,

  81. you know,

  82. what is different from the East Coast in Colorado?

  83. And there's a lot of different answers I could give you.

  84. My favorite one comes from someone who told me this.

  85. People go to the East Coast to work

  86. and they come to Colorado to play.

  87. Now, there's a lot of different things you can do to play in Colorado.

  88. One of them would be climbing 14ers,

  89. which actually is a type of work.

  90. So we're going to come around full circle.

  91. And if you ask someone,

  92. why is it that you climb 14ers?

  93. You might hear a variety of answers.

  94. I'm going to tell you one answer, though.

  95. You will, at least you should, never hear.

  96. If you ask someone,

  97. why do you climb those tall mountains?

  98. They should never say to you,

  99. because it's so easy.

  100. I tell you that because I have told you before

  101. and I will tell you again this morning,

  102. I have both bad news for you and good news.

  103. The bad news is that Romans is really hard.

  104. The good news is that Romans is really great and worth it.

  105. I've told you many times this quote from Andrew Nassili.

  106. Paul's letter to the Romans is arguably

  107. the single most important piece of literature

  108. in the history of the world.

  109. And I'm reminding you of that again this morning

  110. because we are coming to chapter 7,

  111. which is especially intricate.

  112. So if we're climbing up a 14er here,

  113. this is a steep part of the trail.

  114. So we're going to plot a little bit this morning.

  115. We're going to build bit by bit,

  116. layer by layer, step by step.

  117. So let's jump in.

  118. First, to understand chapter 7 of the book of Romans,

  119. we must remember the categories

  120. that Paul gave us in chapter 6.

  121. In chapter 6, Paul told us

  122. all people in the world fall into two buckets.

  123. You are either under law or under grace.

  124. And being under law and under grace

  125. capture the two and only two ways

  126. that you can make it to heaven.

  127. If you are under law,

  128. you make it to heaven by perfectly

  129. obeying all of God's laws

  130. and never sinning.

  131. That's what it means to be under law.

  132. So when you look at the Ten Commandments,

  133. you perfectly keep them.

  134. When it comes to loving God and loving neighbor,

  135. you have always done that perfectly.

  136. If you're under law,

  137. you must do those perfectly.

  138. And if you do, you can make it to heaven.

  139. Problem is that's not a real option.

  140. It's hypothetical.

  141. And it's not real

  142. because Paul's already told us in chapter 3,

  143. they all have sinned

  144. and fall short of the glory of God.

  145. We saw it in our confession of faith this morning

  146. that Andy read for us.

  147. No mere man, since the fall,

  148. is able in this life

  149. perfectly to keep the commandments of God,

  150. but does daily break them

  151. in thought, word, and deed.

  152. So under the law is an option.

  153. That's a way to get to heaven,

  154. but it's not going to work for you.

  155. Under Christ, under grace,

  156. that's the other option.

  157. If you're under grace,

  158. you trust in Jesus Christ

  159. that he died the death that you deserved,

  160. lived the perfect life you didn't.

  161. So those are the two categories of humanity

  162. from Romans chapter 6

    Romans 6 chapter mention

  163. that you must keep in mind

  164. to make sense of seven.

  165. You can be justified by your obedience,

  166. or you can be justified by Jesus' obedience.

  167. Those are the options.

  168. Okay?

  169. That was six.

  170. Now, moving on to seven.

  171. In seven, Paul says,

  172. let's take those two ways of getting to heaven

  173. and let's imagine

  174. that they are two different marriages.

  175. Okay?

  176. Let's take those two ways of getting to heaven.

  177. Imagine that there are two marriages.

  178. If you are under the law,

  179. you are married to the law.

  180. If you are under grace,

  181. you are married to Jesus Christ.

  182. Two marriages,

  183. under the law,

  184. married to the law,

  185. under grace,

  186. married to Jesus Christ.

  187. Here's the catch, though.

  188. You can only be married

  189. to one person at a time.

  190. I know that's a shock.

  191. You have to be able to switch

  192. from one marriage

  193. to the other marriage.

  194. How do you do that?

  195. That is simply what Paul is getting at

  196. in verses 1 through 3.

  197. He's saying this.

  198. Marriages are binding

  199. as long as both people live.

  200. Of course, you know this.

  201. What do you say when you take marriage vows?

  202. As long as we both shall live.

  203. So how are you going to get out

  204. of this bad situation

  205. of being under the law,

  206. married to the law?

  207. Well, if you're going to get out

  208. of that marriage,

  209. someone has to die.

  210. Unless someone dies,

  211. the marriage can't end.

  212. That takes us to verse 4.

  213. Surprise!

  214. That happened.

  215. You did die to the law.

  216. Verse 4.

  217. Likewise, my brothers,

  218. you also have died to the law.

  219. How did this happen?

  220. Through the body of Christ.

  221. So your marriage to the law ended

  222. through the body of Christ,

  223. which is a reference

  224. to Jesus' death and resurrection.

  225. When Christ died,

  226. you died to the law

  227. if you have faith in him.

  228. You died to your performance

  229. determining whether or not

  230. you enter heaven.

  231. Dying to the law

  232. means that you died

  233. to your moral performance

  234. determining whether or not

  235. you enter heaven.

  236. So once again,

  237. Paul is circling back

  238. to this concept

  239. we talked about multiple times

  240. in chapter 6,

  241. which is union with Christ.

  242. That is,

  243. what is true of Jesus

  244. is true of you.

  245. So you died to the law.

  246. You're not in that marriage anymore.

  247. You're in a new marriage, actually.

  248. That's what verse 4 also tells us.

  249. The result,

  250. this is verse 4,

  251. so that you may belong

  252. to another,

  253. to him who has been raised

  254. from the dead.

  255. You switched marriages.

  256. You're not married

  257. to the law anymore.

  258. You're married to Christ.

  259. When Christ died,

  260. you entered a new marriage

  261. if you belong to him.

  262. Christ's death

  263. frees you

  264. from an abusive spouse

  265. and brings you

  266. to a loving spouse.

  267. That begins to answer

  268. the next question.

  269. We have two marriages.

  270. what were these marriages like?

  271. Marriage to the law,

  272. being under the law,

  273. is terrible.

  274. And being married to the law

  275. and under the law

  276. is terrible

  277. because it is

  278. an abusive marriage.

  279. It's abusive

  280. for these reasons.

  281. All the law can do

  282. is accuse

  283. and condemn.

  284. So the law is looking in on you.

  285. Imagine the Ten Commandments

  286. are talking to you

  287. and what are the Ten Commandments

  288. saying?

  289. They're saying this,

  290. obey me or die.

  291. That's what the law is saying.

  292. That's what your spouse

  293. is saying to you

  294. if you're married

  295. to the law.

  296. That's the control,

  297. the rule

  298. that it has over you.

  299. Is that the kind of spouse

  300. that you want?

  301. Do you want an accusing,

  302. a condemning spouse,

  303. one that says,

  304. obey me or die?

  305. Of course not, right?

  306. That's why verse 6

  307. uses this strong language,

  308. that which held us captive.

  309. That's the sense

  310. in which the law

  311. is holding you captive.

  312. So it's abusive

  313. and terrible

  314. in this sense.

  315. It's also abusive

  316. and terrible

  317. in two other senses.

  318. The second one is this,

  319. the law is a command

  320. to obey.

  321. It does not give

  322. the ability

  323. to obey.

  324. The law gives

  325. the command

  326. to obey.

  327. It does not give

  328. the ability

  329. to obey.

  330. Think about it this way.

  331. The law is looking

  332. in on you.

  333. Imagine now

  334. it's love God

  335. and love neighbor.

  336. So we talked about

  337. the Ten Commandments

  338. says keep me or die.

  339. Let's say the law

  340. comes to you

  341. and says

  342. love your neighbor

  343. as yourself.

  344. Do you do that?

  345. Do you love

  346. your neighbor

  347. as much

  348. as you love

  349. yourself?

  350. I certainly don't.

  351. And I actually

  352. can't.

  353. I actually can't

  354. do that

  355. in and of myself.

  356. I can't change

  357. my own heart.

  358. I'm not powerful

  359. enough to do that.

  360. The law also

  361. will not change

  362. my heart.

  363. This is why

  364. we've sung before

  365. if you've been with us

  366. the song Run and Run

  367. which says this.

  368. Run and Run

  369. the law demands

  370. but gives me

  371. neither feet

  372. nor hands.

  373. Which is a way

  374. of saying

  375. the law can command

  376. me to obey

  377. it can't give me

  378. the ability

  379. to obey.

  380. We'll talk about that

  381. more in coming weeks.

  382. If you thought

  383. that was bad

  384. actually it's going

  385. to get worse.

  386. So those are the

  387. first two reasons

  388. the law is abusive.

  389. The law accuses

  390. and condemns

  391. number one.

  392. Number two

  393. the law commands

  394. you to obey.

  395. It doesn't give you

  396. the ability

  397. to obey

  398. but it's actually

  399. more sinister

  400. than that.

  401. Look at me

  402. at verse five.

  403. It's not just

  404. that the law

  405. doesn't give you

  406. the ability

  407. to obey.

  408. The law

  409. actually makes it

  410. more likely

  411. that you won't

  412. obey.

  413. Verse five

  414. says this

  415. for while we're

  416. living in the flesh

  417. for while we were

  418. living in the flesh

  419. our sinful

  420. passions

  421. aroused

  422. by the law

  423. were at work

  424. in our members

  425. to bear fruit

  426. for death.

  427. Now we're not

  428. going to dwell

  429. on this a lot

  430. because we're

  431. going to talk

  432. about it in length

  433. verses seven

  434. through twelve

  435. but the point

  436. is this

  437. when we find

  438. out that we

  439. cannot do

  440. something

  441. we want

  442. to do it

  443. more.

  444. When we find

  445. out that we

  446. cannot do

  447. something

  448. we decide

  449. that actually

  450. we're even more

  451. interested than we

  452. ever were before.

  453. I think it's on

  454. page eight of your

  455. worship guide

  456. there's a quote

  457. that basically

  458. says we hear

  459. do not

  460. and we think

  461. why not?

  462. so the law

  463. comes

  464. it actually

  465. makes us

  466. more likely

  467. to do

  468. what's wrong

  469. and so I tell you

  470. all of these things

  471. to drive at this

  472. point

  473. the law

  474. is a terrible

  475. spouse

  476. that is not

  477. a marriage

  478. you want to be in

  479. the law is a

  480. terrible spouse

  481. because it

  482. condemns you

  483. you're captive

  484. to it

  485. that's what

  486. verse six

  487. says

  488. the law

  489. is a terrible

  490. spouse

  491. because it

  492. actually doesn't

  493. give you any

  494. resources to do

  495. what it commands

  496. the law

  497. is a terrible

  498. spouse

  499. because it

  500. makes your

  501. behavior

  502. worse

  503. that's a rough

  504. marriage

  505. that's a

  506. dysfunctional

  507. relationship

  508. that's the

  509. relationship

  510. you had

  511. to the law

  512. before

  513. you were

  514. in Christ

  515. that's the

  516. relationship

  517. you have

  518. to the law

  519. right now

  520. if you are

  521. outside

  522. of Christ

  523. you have

  524. a dysfunctional

  525. abusive

  526. relationship

  527. with the law

  528. now I want you

  529. to feel the

  530. weight of that

  531. because if you

  532. feel the weight

  533. of it

  534. you'll feel

  535. the sense

  536. of relief

  537. and joy

  538. that comes

  539. for us

  540. in verse

  541. six

  542. which tells

  543. us this

  544. but now

  545. we are

  546. released

  547. from the

  548. law

  549. sigh of

  550. relief

  551. shake it

  552. out

  553. shake it

  554. out

  555. you're free

  556. from the

  557. law

  558. that nightmare

  559. is over

  560. that terrible

  561. marriage

  562. has ended

  563. die to that

  564. which held us

  565. captive

  566. yeah that means

  567. you're no longer

  568. a prisoner

  569. to the law

  570. if the law

  571. comes to you

  572. now

  573. the ten commandments

  574. walk up to you

  575. and they say

  576. obey me

  577. or die

  578. what can you

  579. do

  580. you thumb

  581. your nose

  582. at it

  583. I don't have

  584. to obey

  585. you or die

  586. I'm not

  587. captive to you

  588. anymore

  589. now thumbing

  590. your nose

  591. at the law

  592. doesn't mean

  593. you disobey

  594. the law

  595. you're thumbing

  596. your nose

  597. at being

  598. captive

  599. to the law

  600. but actually

  601. you are able

  602. for the first

  603. time to do

  604. as I've told

  605. you before

  606. the right

  607. thing

  608. for the right

  609. reason

  610. being married

  611. to the law

  612. didn't give you

  613. any ability

  614. didn't give you

  615. any power

  616. to obey

  617. now

  618. you're in a good

  619. marriage

  620. you're in a marriage

  621. that actually

  622. provides motivation

  623. and power

  624. look with me

  625. again at verse 5

  626. verse 5 tells us

  627. we were living

  628. in the flesh

  629. this is again

  630. a concept

  631. from previous

  632. chapters

  633. that we've discussed

  634. if you're living

  635. in the flesh

  636. that's the opposite

  637. of living by the

  638. Holy Spirit

  639. so if you're living

  640. by the flesh

  641. your heart

  642. the center

  643. of your heart

  644. is still

  645. controlled

  646. and ruled

  647. and governed

  648. and dominated

  649. by sin

  650. that's what it

  651. means to live

  652. in the flesh

  653. flesh means

  654. multiple things

  655. for the apostle

  656. Paul

  657. in this instance

  658. the flesh means

  659. the opposite

  660. of the spirit

  661. so you were

  662. verse 5

  663. living according

  664. to the flesh

  665. you are now

  666. verse 6

  667. living

  668. in the new

  669. way

  670. of the spirit

  671. sin doesn't

  672. rule

  673. control

  674. dominate

  675. or reign

  676. in your heart

  677. anymore

  678. if you

  679. are married

  680. to Jesus Christ

  681. if you are

  682. under grace

  683. your heart

  684. is ruled

  685. and controlled

  686. and dominated

  687. by him

  688. you were

  689. married

  690. to a spouse

  691. who condemned

  692. you

  693. you were

  694. married to

  695. the law

  696. you were

  697. married to

  698. a spouse

  699. who told

  700. you to

  701. do things

  702. that you

  703. were incapable

  704. of doing

  705. on your own

  706. you were

  707. married to

  708. a spouse

  709. who said

  710. obey me

  711. or die

  712. now

  713. if you're

  714. in Christ

  715. you're married

  716. to a spouse

  717. who gives

  718. you

  719. life

  720. now

  721. if you're

  722. in Christ

  723. you're married

  724. to a spouse

  725. who gives

  726. you

  727. life

  728. you were

  729. verse 5

  730. bearing fruit

  731. for death

  732. you are

  733. now

  734. verse 4

  735. bearing

  736. fruit

  737. for God

  738. there's

  739. a different

  740. thing

  741. going on

  742. there's

  743. a different

  744. relationship

  745. you now

  746. the law

  747. comes to

  748. you

  749. and says

  750. love your

  751. neighbor

  752. as yourself

  753. you think

  754. oh yeah

  755. God's at work

  756. in my heart

  757. actually I'm

  758. starting to

  759. want to

  760. do that

  761. I'm

  762. realizing

  763. I have

  764. new

  765. powers

  766. and abilities

  767. page 8

  768. of your

  769. worship guide

  770. says this

  771. the new

  772. covenant

  773. believer

  774. never

  775. looks at

  776. the law

  777. without

  778. understanding

  779. that his

  780. relationship

  781. to it

  782. is the

  783. fruit

  784. of his

  785. union

  786. with

  787. Christ

  788. which is

  789. a way

  790. of saying

  791. this

  792. if you're

  793. married to

  794. Christ

  795. if you're

  796. under

  797. grace

  798. you look

  799. at the

  800. ten

  801. commandments

  802. and instead

  803. of thinking

  804. man that's

  805. the ten

  806. commandments

  807. are condemning

  808. me and

  809. ruling

  810. over me

  811. no you

  812. think

  813. oh wow

  814. that's the

  815. type of

  816. person

  817. God's

  818. making me

  819. to be

  820. those

  821. are the

  822. sorts of

  823. actions

  824. that are

  825. going to

  826. come out

  827. as the

  828. Holy Spirit

  829. is at

  830. work

  831. changing

  832. my

  833. heart

  834. that's

  835. the type

  836. of person

  837. I'm

  838. going to

  839. become

  840. as I

  841. am

  842. taken

  843. away

  844. from a

  845. heart

  846. of stone

  847. and given

  848. a heart

  849. of flesh

  850. oh you're

  851. saying love

  852. God and love

  853. neighbors

  854. what you're

  855. saying is

  856. the Holy

  857. Spirit's

  858. going to

  859. make me

  860. into the

  861. type of

  862. person

  863. who loves

  864. my

  865. neighbor

  866. as

  867. myself

  868. wow

  869. what a

  870. wonderful

  871. thing

  872. that's

  873. how you

  874. think about

  875. the law

  876. now

  877. because the

  878. law is

  879. not a

  880. condemning

  881. spouse

  882. the law

  883. is the

  884. fruit of

  885. your marriage

  886. with Christ

  887. what the

  888. law could

  889. not

  890. produce

  891. God

  892. by the

  893. work of

  894. his Holy

  895. Spirit

  896. given to

  897. his people

  898. because of

  899. the death

  900. and resurrection

  901. of Jesus

  902. Christ

  903. now

  904. does

  905. in you

  906. when you

  907. got married

  908. did it

  909. change you

  910. are you

  911. different

  912. now

  913. because of

  914. your marriage

  915. I hope

  916. so

  917. and I hope

  918. it's in

  919. positive ways

  920. although I

  921. know that's

  922. not always

  923. the case

  924. this marriage

  925. to Christ

  926. is changing

  927. you

  928. and it

  929. is changing

  930. you

  931. in positive

  932. ways

  933. verse 4

  934. so that you

  935. may belong

  936. to another

  937. in order

  938. that we

  939. may bear

  940. fruit

  941. for God

  942. the law

  943. is now

  944. a description

  945. not of how

  946. you fall

  947. short

  948. but of your

  949. future self

  950. what God

  951. is making

  952. you

  953. to be

  954. I've told

  955. you before

  956. and I'll

  957. tell you

  958. again

  959. Romans

  960. is the

  961. fifth

  962. gospel

  963. and it's

  964. the fifth

  965. gospel

  966. because what

  967. Paul teaches

  968. Jesus

  969. taught

  970. first

  971. Jesus

  972. says this

  973. in John

    John 15 chapter mention

  974. chapter 15

  975. already

  976. you are

  977. clean

  978. because of

  979. the word

  980. that I have

  981. spoken

  982. to you

  983. in other

  984. words

  985. your

  986. justification

  987. is in

  988. my

  989. actions

  990. not your

  991. actions

  992. abide

  993. in me

  994. and I

  995. in you

  996. as the

  997. branch

  998. cannot bear

  999. fruit

  1000. by itself

  1001. unless it

  1002. abides

  1003. in the

  1004. vine

  1005. neither

  1006. can you

  1007. unless you

  1008. abide

  1009. in me

  1010. if you're

  1011. married to

  1012. the law

  1013. that's not

  1014. going to

  1015. produce

  1016. good fruit

  1017. in your

  1018. life

  1019. ten

  1020. commandments

  1021. can't

  1022. change

  1023. your

  1024. heart

  1025. I

  1026. can

  1027. I

  1028. am

  1029. the

  1030. vine

  1031. you

  1032. are

  1033. the

  1034. branches

  1035. whoever

  1036. abides

  1037. in me

  1038. and I

  1039. in him

  1040. he

  1041. it is

  1042. that bears

  1043. much

  1044. fruit

  1045. for

  1046. apart

  1047. from

  1048. me

  1049. you

  1050. can

  1051. do

  1052. nothing

  1053. what

  1054. makes

  1055. all of

  1056. this

  1057. possible

  1058. Paul

  1059. tells us

  1060. that as

  1061. well

  1062. in

  1063. verse

  1064. four

  1065. you

  1066. died

  1067. to

  1068. the

  1069. law

  1070. so

  1071. you

  1072. may

  1073. belong

  1074. to

  1075. another

  1076. that's

  1077. Jesus

  1078. Christ

  1079. to

  1080. him

  1081. who

  1082. has

  1083. been

  1084. raised

  1085. from

  1086. the

  1087. dead

  1088. it's

  1089. possible

  1090. because

  1091. of the

  1092. death

  1093. and

  1094. resurrection

  1095. of

  1096. Jesus

  1097. Christ

  1098. do

  1099. you

  1100. want

  1101. the

  1102. power

  1103. to

  1104. obey

  1105. God

  1106. do

  1107. you

  1108. want

  1109. the

  1110. power

  1111. to

  1112. do

  1113. what's

  1114. right

  1115. for

  1116. the

  1117. right

  1118. reasons

  1119. do

  1120. you

  1121. want

  1122. the

  1123. power

  1124. to

  1125. love

  1126. God

  1127. and

  1128. love

  1129. neighbor

  1130. if

  1131. you're

  1132. in

  1133. Christ

  1134. you

  1135. do

  1136. and

  1137. you

  1138. do

  1139. because

  1140. you

  1141. are

  1142. married

  1143. to

  1144. him

  1145. not

  1146. the

  1147. law

  1148. and

  1149. his

  1150. Holy

  1151. Spirit

  1152. is

  1153. at

  1154. work

  1155. in

  1156. you

  1157. and

  1158. it's

  1159. been

  1160. given

  1161. to

  1162. you

  1163. because

  1164. of

  1165. Jesus

  1166. death

  1167. and

  1168. resurrection

  1169. and

  1170. so

  1171. you

  1172. can

  1173. sing

  1174. this

  1175. which

  1176. is

  1177. true

  1178. the

  1179. power

  1180. that

  1181. raised

  1182. him

  1183. from

  1184. the

  1185. grave

  1186. now

  1187. works

  1188. in

  1189. us

  1190. to

  1191. powerfully

  1192. save

  1193. he

  1194. frees

  1195. our

  1196. hearts

  1197. to

  1198. live

  1199. his

  1200. grace

  1201. go

  1202. tell

  1203. of

  1204. his

  1205. goodness

  1206. let's

  1207. pray

  1208. our

  1209. father

  1210. in

  1211. heaven

  1212. we

  1213. thank

  1214. you

  1215. that

  1216. you

  1217. come

  1218. to

  1219. us

  1220. not

  1221. as

  1222. the

  1223. law

  1224. comes

  1225. with

  1226. condemnation

  1227. with

  1228. standards

  1229. to

  1230. meet

  1231. if

  1232. we

  1233. want

  1234. to

  1235. be

  1236. accepted

  1237. no

  1238. that

  1239. you

  1240. tell

  1241. us

  1242. we're

  1243. clean

  1244. because

  1245. of

  1246. the

  1247. word

  1248. that

  1249. you've

  1250. spoken

  1251. to

  1252. us

  1253. and

  1254. we

  1255. ask

  1256. that

  1257. you

  1258. would

  1259. be

  1260. at

  1261. work

  1262. in

  1263. us

  1264. by

  1265. the

  1266. Holy

  1267. Spirit

  1268. reminding

  1269. us

  1270. of

  1271. these

  1272. truths

  1273. that

  1274. you

  1275. continue

  1276. to

  1277. turn

  1278. our

  1279. hearts

  1280. of

  1281. you

  1282. and

  1283. follow

  1284. you

  1285. more

  1286. and

  1287. more

  1288. we

  1289. ask

  1290. these

  1291. things

  1292. in

  1293. Jesus

  1294. name

  1295. amen
