  1. You guys be seated. We are continuing through our study of Romans, Romans chapter 2, if you want to turn there.

    Romans 2 chapter mention

  2. ! And as you are doing it, take a little survey real quick. By show of hands, how many of you have seen the TV show Matlock? Anybody?

  3. I just divided the room by age. Matlock, an attorney from Atlanta, Georgia, wore the gray suit every day, or the same gray suit.

  4. And almost in every episode, in dramatic fashion, he would make a closing statement that was far superior to the other attorneys.

  5. In Romans chapter 2, Paul has been making a case against the religious, moralistic Jewish people.

    Romans 2 chapter mention

  6. You know, those that look down on the Gentiles that Paul listed in Romans chapter 1.

    Romans 1 chapter mention

  7. So he's making this argument, making this case, and we come to verse 25 through verse 29.

  8. And this is Paul's closing argument for the case that he's making against the religious leaders.

  9. So Paul, by the leading of the Holy Spirit, leaves no room for any religious, moralistic person to boast.

  10. He has removed what they trusted in.

  11. And what they found their security in, which was their heritage, them being Jewish, their bloodline, being God's chosen people.

  12. And based on Romans chapter 2, they can also no longer trust in their actions.

    Romans 2 chapter mention

  13. In fact, Paul called them hypocrites.

  14. They can no longer trust in being better than others, because Paul is making a case that,

  15. though you may not be Gentiles like Romans chapter 1, you still are just as guilty.

    Romans 1 chapter mention

  16. They can't trust in their security of knowing and having knowledge of the law.

  17. And this morning, Paul attacks their religious activities or ceremony mainly by discussing circumcision.

  18. So let's read verses 25 through 29.

  19. I'll pray and we'll kind of jump right in.

  20. For circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law.

  21. But if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.

  22. So if a man who is uncircumcised keeps the precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?

  23. Then he who is physically uncircumcised but keeps the law will condemn you who have the written code and circumcision but break the law.

  24. For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical.

  25. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter.

  26. His praise is not from man, but from God.

  27. Let's pray together.

  28. Father, I ask now that you would speak to us this morning.

  29. The words that are spoken would be your words.

  30. The words that I have written down on a piece of paper would be your words this morning.

  31. That if there's something on there that is false, that you would allow me to pass over those words.

  32. God, if something false comes out of my mouth, God, I pray that we would forget those words.

  33. Pray that you are honored and pleased by what is spoken this morning.

  34. But more importantly, you're honored and pleased by what you do in the hearts of the people here and what we do in response to what we have heard from you.

  35. God, we love you.

  36. We thank you for Jesus.

  37. And it's in his name we pray.

  38. Amen.

  39. So what I thought I'd do first is, since circumcision is a word that we don't really throw around very much,

  40. unless you've had a child or a boy, you probably haven't heard that word in quite a while.

  41. I thought I would kind of explain, not in detail what it is, but why it's here, why it's in the Bible, what was the point of it,

  42. and then kind of dig into the text.

  43. So, Genesis chapter 17, if you guys want to turn there.

    Genesis 17 chapter mention

  44. Genesis 17, God has just finished reminding Abraham of the new covenant that he made with Abraham.

  45. That he changes his name from Abram to Abraham.

  46. And he says, you're going to be father to many, many generations.

  47. I'm going to bless you through your bloodline.

  48. So, Genesis chapter 17, starting in verse 9, we have circumcision for the first time.

    Genesis 17 chapter mention

  49. And God said to Abraham, as for you, you shall keep my covenant, you and your offspring, after you throughout their generations.

  50. This is my covenant which you shall keep between me and you and your offspring after you.

  51. Every male among you shall be circumcised.

  52. You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.

  53. Circumcision was a ceremony meant to remind the people of the covenant made between God and Abraham.

  54. It was a reminder of the promise that God made to bless generation after generation.

  55. That Abraham would be the father to many.

  56. It was also a way that God was setting apart the people of Israel.

  57. It was a way that even the Jewish people knew that they were Jewish.

  58. And they setting them apart from the rest of the people in the area and of the world.

  59. It also was symbolic of the uncleanness that needed to be removed.

  60. To communicate in picture form their need to rid themselves of sin.

  61. By it being the very organ that passed the sin from generation to generation.

  62. Circumcision was a reminder of the covenant that had been made and the covenant to come.

  63. A Savior would come and cleanse them from all their unrighteousness.

  64. Now that of course is what it started out to be.

  65. That's what God's intention was.

  66. But men corrupted it into just a religious activity that separated people from one another.

  67. Not in a set apart holiness way, but in a superiority I'm better than they are way.

  68. We are God's chosen people.

  69. This act proves it.

  70. That we are God's chosen.

  71. And eventually because of their sin.

  72. Man's sin.

  73. What God intended to remind them of him.

  74. Had been watered down.

  75. And only reminded them of themselves.

  76. And how special they thought they were.

  77. So why is all this important?

  78. Because unless you've had a child.

  79. Circumcision doesn't happen in our churches.

  80. For sure.

  81. Because circumcision to the Jewish people.

  82. Is baptism to the Baptists.

  83. Is name another religious activity to another religious group.

  84. It is important because though we don't have ceremonies of circumcision.

  85. We in this room have ceremonies of baptism.

  86. Both are an outward expression of what God has done on the inside.

  87. Or at least that's what God intended them to be.

  88. And that is where Paul is leading us in the text this morning.

  89. There are three points this morning.

  90. The first being that circumcision or any religious activity in Christianity is valuable and is worthless.

  91. It is valuable and it is worthless.

  92. The second being that circumcision is not just for the Jews.

  93. And the third, circumcision is a matter of the heart.

  94. Now I'm sorry I didn't get very creative with these three points.

  95. There's no wordsmithing.

  96. It's straight from the text.

  97. So let's go.

  98. First point.

  99. Circumcision or any religious activity in Christianity or Christendom is valuable and worthless.

  100. Verse 25 says,

  101. For circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law.

  102. But if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.

  103. The value in being circumcised only occurs when the law is obeyed.

  104. It is the only thing that justifies the religious act.

  105. That's what Paul is saying.

  106. A religious act though is just that.

  107. It's just an act unless God has already changed the heart by which one can obey the law.

  108. That's the only way a religious act is important.

  109. This verse will be considered blasphemous to the Jewish people of Paul's time.

  110. Because not only has Paul questioned the value of this religious activity of circumcision.

  111. He has also said that it has no worth.

  112. It's worthless.

  113. Like the Gentiles who they thought were worthless dogs.

  114. If they cannot obey the law.

  115. So what religious life they have made with self-effort and self-determination is now being destroyed by Paul's letter.

  116. And for us, by the word of God.

  117. But this shouldn't surprise us at all.

  118. Especially up to this point in Romans.

  119. Paul has destroyed any ability for a religious person to trust in any of their action.

  120. He's destroyed any ability to trust in our own action that is not around Christ.

  121. That is not founded in the act and action of God through Christ.

  122. See, this is what the gospel does.

  123. It tears apart and destroys any ability of yours or mine to boast in.

  124. It destroys any ability for you or my own righteousness to make a difference.

  125. Because the gospel is completely 100% dependent on the work of Christ.

  126. So what Paul is saying here to us is that our religious activities, our baptism, our singing the songs, if you keep the law, are good.

  127. But if you don't, it is worthless.

  128. In other words, it is worthless unless it is a direct result of Jesus Christ in your life by which we obey the law.

  129. See, the gospel leaves no room for you and I to boast.

  130. None.

  131. It is a very one-sided action.

  132. We respond to the gospel, but after God has revealed himself to us.

  133. We can't even boast in our own religious activities.

  134. That's the point of Romans chapter 2.

    Romans 2 chapter mention

  135. We cannot boast in anything we do except in Christ.

  136. And it is Christ who allows us or Christ in us that allows us to obey the law and only that.

  137. So circumcision or any religious activity is valuable and worthless.

  138. But not only that, in verse 26 and 27, circumcision is not just for the Jews.

  139. Now, we're just progressing through the text here, so when we get to the conclusion of verse 29, you'll see that Paul kind of flips everything upside down.

  140. Verse 26 and 27, circumcision is not just for the Jews.

  141. Now, originally, circumcision was one of the ways that God set apart the people of Israel.

  142. Okay?

  143. But now Paul is saying to all of us that circumcision is no longer just for the Jews.

  144. So being set apart is not just for the Jews now.

  145. Verse 26.

  146. So if a man who is uncircumcised, meaning a Gentile, keeps the precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?

  147. Then he who is physically uncircumcised, but keeps the law, will condemn you who have the written code and circumcision, but break the law.

  148. Becoming a Christian, becoming set apart, has nothing to do with who you are.

  149. It has nothing to do with what you have done.

  150. And this is what Paul is telling the Jewish religious leaders.

  151. It doesn't matter what you've done.

  152. It doesn't matter who you are anymore.

  153. A Muslim can be converted.

  154. A Buddhist can be converted.

  155. A Catholic can be converted.

  156. A Hindu can be converted.

  157. A church-going American can be converted.

  158. It has nothing to do with us.

  159. And becoming a Christian is all about Jesus Christ and His call on a life.

  160. Paul again shakes up the religious Jewish people because they thought that they were the elect.

  161. They thought that they were God's chosen people.

  162. Now, for the time they were, but they were representing the spiritual church.

  163. They were representing God and Christ's church.

  164. They thought being members of this elite club was an eternal membership.

  165. They thought that they were part of this elite club in town.

  166. And like any club, they had control of who was going to be the members and who was not.

  167. They thought that they were going to be able to send out the invitations and invite who they wanted to.

  168. But that's not the case.

  169. Jesus Christ is the gatekeeper.

  170. He is the one that invites.

  171. He is the one who sends out those invitations.

  172. Last week in Philippians chapter 3, we talked about Paul's resume.

    Philippians 3 chapter mention

  173. Turn to Philippians chapter 3.

    Philippians 3 chapter mention

  174. We're going to stand a couple minutes there and then come back to Romans.

  175. Philippians chapter 3.

    Philippians 3 chapter mention

  176. We're reading verse 7 and kind of go back a couple of verses and then move forward again.

  177. Starting in verse 7, Paul says, same author, same guy.

  178. It says, but whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.

  179. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus as Lord.

  180. So we're not sidetracking here.

  181. We're not chasing rabbits.

  182. This has to do with our sermon this morning.

  183. What gain did Paul have?

  184. But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss.

  185. Well, that gain is his resume in verses 5 and 6.

  186. It says, circumcised on the eighth day of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a heaver of Hebrews, as to the law of Pharisee, as to zeal, a persecutor of the church, as to righteousness under the law, blameless.

  187. So all of that, Paul says, it was gain.

  188. But I count all of that as loss.

  189. And why is all that gain?

  190. Why does he count all that as gain?

  191. Because being God's chosen has its benefits.

  192. Like being schooled in the law.

  193. They were taught God's word.

  194. They had knowledge of the law.

  195. That was to point to Christ.

  196. They were beneficiaries of God's favor up to this point.

  197. But now because of Christ,

  198. Paul can write in Romans chapter 2,

    Romans 2 chapter mention

  199. in verse 27,

  200. then he who is physically uncircumcised,

  201. the Gentiles,

  202. but keeps the law,

  203. will condemn you who have the written code.

  204. They will condemn

  205. the Jewish religious people.

  206. Because the Jewish people

  207. had all the advantage.

  208. They had everything set before them.

  209. God clearly

  210. moved among them.

  211. And still they have stubborn hearts.

  212. And still they refuse to believe

  213. in Christ.

  214. That's gain.

  215. Those things are gain that Paul lists.

  216. But he has to lose them all

  217. and says,

  218. I counted all as loss

  219. for the sake of Christ.

  220. Because Christ is much better.

  221. He counts all of that as loss.

  222. And not in a way like,

  223. I wish I could have that,

  224. but I will sacrifice.

  225. It's not in that at all.

  226. But in a willingness

  227. because something is far better.

  228. Now it's an odd comparison

  229. because it's not like comparing

  230. garbage to filet steak.

  231. Though that's an easy decision.

  232. Because the stuff that Paul lists

  233. in 5 and 6,

  234. his heritage,

  235. his teaching,

  236. his zeal,

  237. those were good things at the time.

  238. They had value.

  239. What makes it odd

  240. is that what did have value

  241. no longer has value.

  242. It's flipped.

  243. So what was filet

  244. is now garbage

  245. compared to Christ.

  246. In fact,

  247. everything compared to Christ

  248. is far worse than garbage.

  249. It is worthless.

  250. And compared to Christ,

  251. our best is nothing.

  252. And he says in Philippians,

  253. the surpassing worth

  254. of knowing Christ Jesus,

  255. my Lord.

  256. The surpassing worth.

  257. Paul says the worth

  258. of knowing Jesus

  259. is far greater

  260. than anything else.

  261. Look at that.

  262. It isn't just a knowledge either.

  263. He says,

  264. surpassing worth

  265. of knowing Christ Jesus,

  266. my Lord.

  267. It is a personal relationship.

  268. It is having that intimacy

  269. that has surpassing worth.

  270. Not our religious activities.

  271. Not our baptism.

  272. Not circumcision.

  273. Not the songs we sing.

  274. Not the books we read

  275. or the five points we master.

  276. It's none of that.

  277. Knowing and having a relationship

  278. with Christ

  279. is far better.

  280. Surpassing worth

  281. of knowing Christ Jesus.

  282. is an intimate,

  283. real,

  284. pure,

  285. convicting

  286. knowledge

  287. of Christ.

  288. So let's read further

  289. in Philippians chapter 3

    Philippians 3:8

  290. verses 8 and 9.

  291. Indeed,

  292. I count everything

  293. as lost

  294. because of the surpassing worth

  295. of knowing Christ Jesus,

  296. my Lord.

  297. For His sake,

  298. I have suffered

  299. the loss of all things

  300. and count them

  301. as rubbish

  302. in order that I may

  303. gain Christ

  304. and be found in Him,

  305. not having a righteousness

  306. of my own

  307. that comes from the law.

  308. But that which comes

  309. through faith in Christ,

  310. the righteousness

  311. from God

  312. that depends

  313. on faith.

  314. He isn't just

  315. losing something.

  316. It is losing something

  317. that he saw

  318. was damaging to him.

  319. That Paul saw

  320. as a detriment to him.

  321. Paul saw

  322. that his religion,

  323. his self-righteousness,

  324. in verse 9 he says,

  325. righteousness of my own

  326. that came from the law.

  327. Religious activity

  328. was damaging

  329. or damaging to him.

  330. And it's damaging

  331. to you and to me.

  332. Our self-righteousness

  333. damages us.

  334. It is what we must lose.

  335. We must put aside.

  336. And this is the point

  337. that Paul is trying

  338. to get at here

  339. saying circumcision

  340. is worthless

  341. unless you obey the law.

  342. And you can't obey

  343. the law without Christ.

  344. So your religious activity

  345. is worthless

  346. to the Jewish people.

  347. We must break

  348. from our moralistic view

  349. and gain a kingdom view.

  350. We must break

  351. from our religious traditions

  352. and practice holiness.

  353. We must break

  354. from our religious apathy

  355. and pursue Christ

  356. no matter where

  357. that takes us.

  358. Knowing Christ

  359. is far better

  360. than anything else.

  361. Far better.

  362. And because Christ

  363. is far better

  364. and received

  365. only by faith

  366. not by works

  367. Paul can say

  368. in Romans chapter 2

    Romans 2 chapter mention

  369. that circumcision

  370. is for all people

  371. as long as it is

  372. a result of Christ

  373. and not

  374. a religious activity.

  375. The pursuit

  376. of the law

  377. through religious activities

  378. gets us nowhere.

  379. And it is

  380. why religion

  381. is damaging

  382. to our souls.

  383. Religion leads

  384. to death

  385. and Jesus

  386. is life.

  387. So we've built up

  388. to this point

  389. verse 28 and 29.

  390. And the third

  391. final point

  392. circumcision

  393. is a matter

  394. of the heart.

  395. It says

  396. verse 28

  397. For no one

  398. is a Jew

  399. who is merely

  400. one outwardly

  401. nor is circumcision

  402. outward and physical.

  403. In other words

  404. what makes a person

  405. a Jew

  406. is not what they wear.

  407. It's not what they practice

  408. or what they do.

  409. It is who they are.

  410. They're born into it.

  411. It's a blood

  412. thing.

  413. And likewise

  414. circumcision

  415. is much more

  416. than just a physical act.

  417. It is more.

  418. It isn't

  419. this religious activity

  420. or religious practice.

  421. In verse 29

  422. Paul clearly

  423. communicates this.

  424. It says

  425. but a Jew

  426. is one inwardly

  427. and circumcision

  428. is a matter

  429. of the heart

  430. by the spirit

  431. not by the letter.

  432. His praise

  433. is not from man

  434. but from God.

  435. See Paul

  436. if Paul

  437. hasn't already

  438. rocked

  439. the religious

  440. leaders

  441. his closing

  442. statements

  443. do.

  444. If they weren't

  445. mad already

  446. they're mad now.

  447. For Paul

  448. now says

  449. that circumcision

  450. is no longer

  451. a religious action

  452. but a God action.

  453. It's no longer

  454. something you do

  455. it's what I do

  456. is what God

  457. is saying.

  458. It is no longer

  459. something that

  460. we can do.

  461. Now

  462. hear me

  463. we can do it.

  464. We can baptize.

  465. We can

  466. sing the songs.

  467. We can read

  468. our Bibles

  469. but without

  470. being born again

  471. without becoming

  472. a Christian

  473. it still leads

  474. to eternity

  475. without God.

  476. And the religious

  477. leaders were

  478. banking on

  479. their action

  480. leading to

  481. salvation.

  482. Their action

  483. being what

  484. saved them

  485. is only

  486. what God

  487. can do.

  488. If circumcision

  489. represented

  490. the old

  491. the dirty

  492. the fleshy

  493. filthy

  494. being removed

  495. to show

  496. a membership

  497. in God's

  498. family

  499. then what

  500. more is

  501. circumcision

  502. of the heart?

  503. Circumcision

  504. of the heart

  505. is God

  506. removing

  507. the old

  508. filthy

  509. sinful

  510. flesh

  511. from our

  512. bodies

  513. and giving

  514. us

  515. a new

  516. heart.

  517. Ezekiel

    Ezekiel 11:19

  518. 11

  519. verse 19

  520. and 20

  521. I'm going to

  522. read it

  523. but pay

  524. attention

  525. to these

  526. pronouns.

  527. Ezekiel

  528. 11

  529. 19

  530. and 20

  531. this is

  532. God

  533. speaking

  534. and I

  535. will give

  536. them one

  537. heart

  538. and a

  539. new

  540. spirit

  541. I

  542. will

  543. put

  544. within

  545. them

  546. I

  547. will

  548. remove

  549. the

  550. heart

  551. of

  552. stone

  553. from

  554. their

  555. flesh

  556. and

  557. give

  558. them

  559. a

  560. heart

  561. of

  562. flesh

  563. that

  564. they

  565. may

  566. walk

  567. in

  568. my

  569. statutes

  570. and

  571. keep

  572. my

  573. rules

  574. and

  575. obey

  576. them

  577. and

  578. they

  579. shall

  580. be

  581. my

  582. people

  583. and

  584. I

  585. will

  586. be

  587. their

  588. God

  589. that's

  590. good

  591. news

  592. that is

  593. God

  594. speaking

  595. God

  596. acting

  597. the

  598. heart

  599. of

  600. stone

  601. the

  602. dead

  603. heart

  604. without

  605. life

  606. is

  607. removed

  608. by

  609. God

  610. and

  611. in

  612. its

  613. place

  614. is

  615. the

  616. heart

  617. of

  618. flesh

  619. a

  620. new

  621. heart

  622. where

  623. we

  624. may

  625. walk

  626. in

  627. his

  628. way

  629. obey

  630. his

  631. laws

  632. and

  633. glorify

  634. him

  635. if

  636. what

  637. Paul

  638. is

  639. saying

  640. is

  641. circumcision

  642. is

  643. a

  644. heart

  645. things

  646. if

  647. circumcision

  648. is

  649. a

  650. matter

  651. of

  652. the

  653. heart

  654. done

  655. only

  656. by

  657. God

  658. then

  659. I

  660. would

  661. argue

  662. that

  663. obeying

  664. him

  665. is

  666. also

  667. a

  668. matter

  669. of

  670. heart

  671. both

  672. require

  673. a

  674. supernatural

  675. action

  676. on our

  677. lives

  678. both

  679. require

  680. God

  681. to

  682. work

  683. and

  684. both

  685. are

  686. done

  687. through

  688. Jesus

  689. Christ

  690. the

  691. religious

  692. leaders

  693. the

  694. Jews

  695. they

  696. followed

  697. the

  698. law

  699. the

  700. law

  701. was

  702. their

  703. confidence

  704. that's

  705. where

  706. they

  707. put

  708. their

  709. confidence

  710. in

  711. it

  712. was

  713. what

  714. they

  715. thought

  716. that

  717. would

  718. lead

  719. to

  720. salvation

  721. through

  722. when

  723. the

  724. Messiah

  725. came

  726. the

  727. Messiah

  728. would

  729. come

  730. and

  731. reward

  732. the

  733. greatest

  734. of

  735. servants

  736. if I

  737. can

  738. just

  739. follow

  740. these

  741. rules

  742. and so

  743. they

  744. followed

  745. the

  746. letter

  747. of

  748. the

  749. law

  750. they

  751. followed

  752. it

  753. Paul

  754. says

  755. righteous

  756. following

  757. the

  758. law

  759. in

  760. Philippians

  761. 3

  762. they

  763. lived

  764. within

  765. the

  766. guidelines

  767. that

  768. was

  769. set

  770. up

  771. so

  772. they

  773. could

  774. follow

  775. and

  776. obey

  777. but

  778. Paul

  779. writes

  780. that

  781. circumcision

  782. is a

  783. matter

  784. of

  785. the

  786. heart

  787. by

  788. the

  789. spirit

  790. not

  791. by

  792. the

  793. letter

  794. so

  795. whatever

  796. confidence

  797. they

  798. had

  799. whatever

  800. confidence

  801. you

  802. have

  803. in

  804. your

  805. baptism

  806. or

  807. in

  808. your

  809. walking

  810. down

  811. the

  812. aisle

  813. or

  814. in

  815. your

  816. songs

  817. that

  818. you

  819. sing

  820. or

  821. the

  822. things

  823. that

  824. you

  825. read

  826. whatever

  827. confidence

  828. you

  829. have

  830. has

  831. been

  832. thwarted

  833. whatever

  834. security

  835. you

  836. have

  837. has

  838. been

  839. destroyed

  840. by

  841. this

  842. truth

  843. that

  844. circumcision

  845. is a

  846. matter

  847. of

  848. the

  849. heart

  850. by

  851. the

  852. spirit

  853. it

  854. is

  855. the

  856. holy

  857. spirit

  858. that

  859. circumcises

  860. no

  861. longer

  862. a

  863. priest

  864. it

  865. started

  866. out

  867. being

  868. something

  869. done

  870. in

  871. the

  872. house

  873. then

  874. it

  875. went

  876. down

  877. to

  878. the

  879. it

  880. was

  881. a

  882. priestly

  883. activity

  884. that

  885. the

  886. priest

  887. did

  888. after

  889. eight

  890. days

  891. of

  892. the

  893. child

  894. being

  895. born

  896. now

  897. it's

  898. the

  899. Holy

  900. Spirit

  901. doing

  902. it

  903. for

  904. us

  905. and

  906. it

  907. will

  908. never

  909. change

  910. in

  911. Acts

  912. chapter

  913. two

  914. Paul

  915. right

  916. after

  917. Peter's

  918. sermon

  919. at

  920. Pentecost

  921. in

  922. verse

  923. 37

  924. and

  925. 38

  926. right

  927. after

  928. a

  929. sermon

  930. Peter

  931. gets

  932. done

  933. laying

  934. down

  935. the

  936. gauntlet

  937. on

  938. the

  939. people

  940. there

  941. at

  942. Pentecost

  943. and

  944. they

  945. say

  946. now

  947. when

  948. they

  949. heard

  950. this

  951. they

  952. were

  953. cut

  954. to

  955. the

  956. heart

  957. by

  958. Peter

  959. what

  960. he

  961. had

  962. just

  963. spoken

  964. and

  965. said

  966. to

  967. Peter

  968. and

  969. the

  970. rest

  971. of

  972. the

  973. apostles

  974. brothers

  975. what

  976. shall

  977. we

  978. do

  979. what

  980. shall

  981. we

  982. do

  983. and

  984. Peter

  985. said

  986. to

  987. them

  988. repent

  989. be

  990. baptized

  991. every

  993. of

  994. you

  995. in

  996. the

  997. name

  998. of

  999. Jesus

  1000. Christ

  1001. for

  1002. the

  1003. forgiveness

  1004. of

  1005. your

  1006. sins

  1007. and

  1008. you

  1009. will

  1010. receive

  1011. the

  1012. gift

  1013. of

  1014. the

  1015. Holy

  1016. Spirit

  1017. the

  1018. Holy

  1019. Spirit

  1020. is

  1023. to

  1024. those

  1025. who

  1026. become

  1027. Christians

  1028. so

  1029. if

  1030. you

  1031. are

  1032. a

  1033. Christian

  1034. and

  1035. you

  1036. have

  1037. a

  1038. circumcised

  1040. you

  1041. have

  1042. a

  1046. you're

  1047. not

  1048. a

  1049. Christian

  1050. you

  1051. can

  1052. have

  1053. a

  1054. new

  1055. heart

  1056. we

  1057. have

  1058. a

  1059. new

  1060. heart

  1061. because

  1062. God

  1063. chose

  1064. to

  1066. us

  1067. by

  1068. sending

  1078. of that

  1081. we

  1082. can

  1083. have

  1084. new

  1085. hearts

  1086. on

  1087. the

  1088. cross

  1089. Jesus

  1090. had

  1091. you

  1092. and

  1093. me

  1094. in

  1095. mind

  1096. and

  1097. not

  1108. me

  1109. in

  1111. when

  1112. he

  1197. is

  1198. will
