  1. Amen. Feel free to grab a seat.

  2. I'll ask that you take out your copy of God's Word, which I hope you have with you this day.

  3. Our exposition of the book of Romans, we're going to pick back up here in a couple of weeks in chapter 9.

  4. And we have been working together through a sermon series called Christ in Culture.

  5. We've been talking about how it is as Christians, now as the body of Christ,

  6. we should be engaging culture for the sake of the gospel.

  7. In fact, seeking to change culture with the gospel.

  8. Our theme verse for the series has been 1 Corinthians, the second part of verse 22 of chapter 9 and verse 23,

  9. where Paul says,

  10. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.

  11. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessing.

  12. And so Paul was arranging his life in such a way that people would come to know Christ,

  13. that he might have joy in that process, in joining God in what it is that he's doing in the world.

  14. This morning's topic is Christ and the unborn.

  15. And I have to tell you, this has been an incredibly difficult two weeks for me as I've studied abortion itself.

  16. I have been so mad, I've been trembling at times.

  17. I've had to put down the research I was doing and walk away from it.

  18. I have cried.

  19. I have been confronted by my own apathy.

  20. I didn't learn anything new over the past couple of weeks.

  21. But as I prayed that God would allow the truth of abortion to run down in me and what he has to say about it,

  22. that I might share that with you.

  23. It's been troubling to me.

  24. I'm very thankful that I got a last-minute call to officiate John and Mallory's wedding yesterday

  25. and had a little joyful experience in the middle of all of that,

  26. that I might have my spirits lifted a bit.

  27. So let's begin this morning.

  28. Let me read this text.

  29. We'll pray together and I'll show you what I've been learning on the topic.

  30. Proverbs 24, verses 10 through 12.

    Proverbs 24:10–12

  31. If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.

  32. Rescue those who are being taken away to death.

  33. Hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.

  34. If you say, behold, we did not know this, does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?

  35. Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it?

  36. And will he not repay man according to his work?

  37. Let's pray together.

  38. Father God, I ask by your spirit that you will save us from ourselves this morning.

  39. That you will help us to think rightly about the issue of abortion.

  40. And that you will show us how it is we should engage culture for the sake of the gospel

  41. and for the souls of those who are lost.

  42. Please, Father, use me to speak powerfully from your word this day.

  43. And I pray this in Christ's name.

  44. Amen.

  45. So the text, and I'm not going to spend a lot of time in it.

  46. The issue to speak against abortion, to be pro-life is certainly something that the Bible speaks to,

  47. but it does so very plainly and very briefly.

  48. It's not a really very difficult biblical argument to make.

  49. The sixth commandment is, thou shalt not murder.

  50. And it's really that simple.

  51. But I've kind of arrived at Proverbs to see, help us to see,

  52. what is said of Christians who shrink back from the challenge of our culture.

  53. A culture that is very pro-choice, which I won't use that term much more.

  54. I'll use the term pro-abortion.

  55. Pro-choice is a term used to distract us from what's really happening.

  56. We could use the term pro-murder, really, in its case.

  57. But you see in verse 11 of Proverbs 24,

  58. we're instructed to rescue those who are being taken away to death.

  59. Hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.

  60. And the writer here is not referring to unborn children being murdered.

  61. That's not what he's talking about.

  62. He's talking about people who are living in sin and their ultimate resting place,

  63. the place they will go, and I shouldn't even use the term resting,

  64. is death and slaughter, eternal judgment.

  65. That there's a judgment coming on them one day.

  66. And we have, in our culture, a mass that's moving in that direction

  67. because they bought this cultural lie that it's okay to murder unborn children.

  68. We live in a day of adversity, verse 10.

  69. And if we don't become a louder voice,

  70. I think it'll be said of us that our strength is small.

  71. And you'll see in verse 12, we can't say,

  72. we didn't know.

  73. We didn't know it was an issue.

  74. Because here it says that God knows what's in your heart.

  75. He knows you know.

  76. And that he'll repay man according to his work.

  77. And so I desperately want us to get this right.

  78. And I want to show you today how aborting unborn children

  79. is not just bad for unborn children,

  80. but it's bad for all of society.

  81. I want you to see that today.

  82. And if we love people, if we love the world,

  83. if we want to see culture transformed by the renewing power of the gospel,

  84. we must see this together and we must act together.

  85. This is an issue that touches everyone's lives.

  86. 43% of women of childbearing age have had or will have an abortion in America.

  87. I'm only talking about America this morning.

  88. 43% of women in childbearing age,

  89. which is said to be 15 to 55.

  90. I think that's a little extreme.

  91. But 43% of women.

  92. 43% of those women who have abortions identify themselves as Protestant.

  93. 27% as Catholic.

  94. And 18% as evangelical or born-again Christians.

  95. This is a topic very close to home.

  96. If you'll allow me, 18% of these women are members of Bible-believing churches.

  97. If you'll allow me that phrase today.

  98. Which means each year,

  99. about a quarter of a million unborn children

  100. are murdered by those who say they're born-again Christians.

  101. This is not a topic far from who we are.

  102. I hope everybody today already agrees with my stance.

  103. If not, I pray that it'll change.

  104. If you have more questions,

  105. there's no way for me to exhaustively cover this topic today.

  106. Please, please come talk to me.

  107. So firstly,

  108. aborting unborn children is bad,

  109. is unhealthy for unborn children.

  110. In our culture,

  111. this issue has not really become a debate of morality.

  112. Our culture at large,

  113. save some psychopaths and sociopaths,

  114. our culture at large would say that murder is in fact wrong.

  115. It's become a question of when is a life a life?

  116. When is a child a child?

  117. And then therefore,

  118. when is murder murder?

  119. I recently read an article

  120. by two bioethicists

  121. whose names I'm just not even going to try to say for you.

  122. They argued in the Journal of Medical Ethics

  123. that afterbirth abortion

  124. should be legal in all cases where abortion is legal.

  125. Did you catch that?

  126. So currently,

  127. it is legal to abort a child

  128. who's tested for Down syndrome

  129. and found to be positive for that.

  130. It's legal to do so, to abort them.

  131. Their argument is

  132. it should also be legal

  133. to abort them

  134. after they're born.

  135. And sadly,

  136. it's not a reductio ad absurdum

  137. intended to show how illogical abortion is.

  138. It's a philosophical argument

  139. for infanticide.

  140. And they're not the only people making this argument.

  141. Have you heard recently of the court case

  142. where the couple was awarded $3 million

  143. because they had a Down syndrome daughter

  144. and they were told by a test

  145. that she didn't have Down syndrome?

  146. Four years old,

  147. this little girl is,

  148. when this court case is decided.

  149. And this family is awarded $3 million

  150. because they said

  151. we would have aborted her

  152. had we known

  153. that she had Down syndrome.

  154. That

  155. is the society we live in.

  156. That's the debate

  157. that's going on.

  158. Let me ask you this question.

  159. When did your life

  160. begin?

  161. At what point would you say

  162. you were who you are

  163. today?

  164. David writes in Psalm 139, 13 and 14,

  165. speaking to God,

  166. for you formed my inward parts.

  167. You knitted me together

  168. in my mother's womb.

  169. I praise you

  170. for I am fearfully

  171. and wonderfully made.

  172. Wonderful are your works.

  173. My soul knows it

  174. very well.

  175. David knew

  176. when his life began.

  177. It began

  178. at conception.

  179. Do you know

  180. that the person you are today,

  181. the shape that you are,

  182. your mental capacity,

  183. all of that

  184. was given to you

  185. in your genetic code?

  186. When your mother's egg

  187. joined with your father's sperm,

  188. everything needed

  189. to form you

  190. was present

  191. at that time.

  192. Before that joining,

  193. you were not you.

  194. After that joining,

  195. you were you.

  196. So,

  197. what is the difference

  198. between an unborn child

  199. and a newborn?

  200. What is the difference

  201. between a child

  202. in the womb

  203. and one who

  204. is outside

  205. of the womb?

  206. And I have found

  207. four arguments,

  208. four differences

  209. given,

  210. which make no sense

  211. to me.

  212. The first is

  213. size.

  214. But does how big

  215. you are

  216. determine how alive

  217. you are?

  218. Does that even

  219. logically make sense

  220. to anybody

  221. in the room?

  222. If that were the case,

  223. then Chris Stewart

  224. is more alive

  225. than me.

  226. And Eddie

  227. is more alive

  228. than Chris Stewart.

  229. Right?

  230. And my son,

  231. Cademan,

  232. who's two,

  233. is less alive

  234. than I am.

  235. It's absurd.

  236. How about level

  237. of development?

  238. Am I more alive

  239. than Cademan,

  240. my two-year-old,

  241. because I'm smarter

  242. and stronger,

  243. at least for now?

  244. Am I any more alive

  245. than he is

  246. as a result?

  247. Environment

  248. is the third.

  249. Does being

  250. in this room

  251. make any of us

  252. more alive

  253. than someone

  254. who is outside

  255. this room,

  256. those who are

  257. across the hall

  258. right now?

  259. Are they less alive

  260. because of their

  261. location?

  262. Certainly not.

  263. Or how about

  264. degree of dependency?

  265. Is a small-born child

  266. less alive

  267. than an unborn child?

  268. Is Judah,

  269. my five-and-a-half-month-old,

  270. less alive

  271. than Cademan

  272. because he's more

  273. dependent on his mother?

  274. Is someone

  275. with Alzheimer's disease

  276. who needs

  277. intensive care

  278. or someone

  279. who's mentally

  280. disabled

  281. less alive?

  282. How about me?

  283. I'm a type 1 diabetic.

  284. I require insulin

  285. from external sources.

  286. I'm dependent

  287. on my insulin pump.

  288. It's not a pager.

  289. It's an insulin pump

  290. to stay alive.

  291. Does that make me

  292. less alive?

  293. Have I digressed

  294. when I was diagnosed

  295. with diabetes?

  296. Certainly not.

  297. Any attempt

  298. to say

  299. that an unborn child

  300. is not alive,

  301. is less alive

  302. than any other

  303. human being

  304. is absolutely

  305. absurd.

  306. I began to do

  307. a ton of research

  308. this past two weeks

  309. over child development.

  310. I'll encourage you

  311. to do that.

  312. It's incredibly fascinating.

  313. But I want to talk about

  314. just one

  315. particular age.

  316. I want to talk about

  317. a 12-week-old

  318. unborn child.

  319. In the state of Georgia,

  320. first-term abortion

  321. is considered

  322. up to 12 weeks,

  323. six days old.

  324. I want to talk about

  325. a 12-week-unborn child.

  326. I have this really incredible

  327. that I've been

  328. carrying in my pocket.

  329. This is

  330. a

  331. life-size

  332. scaled sculpture

  333. of a 12-week-old

  334. unborn child.

  335. I'm going to pass this around.

  336. I want you guys

  337. to just pass it around

  338. and hold it in your hand.

  339. This is the approximate size

  340. based off of

  341. a miscarried child.

  342. A 12-week-old

  343. unborn child

  344. has

  345. eyes and ears,

  346. has fingernails

  347. and toenails.

  348. All of its major organs

  349. are intact.

  350. It begins producing

  351. white blood cells.

  352. The kidneys

  353. begin producing urine

  354. at that age.

  355. Little baby peas.

  356. The synapses

  357. in the brain

  358. are forming

  359. at 12 weeks old,

  360. which means

  361. that it's beginning

  362. to learn.

  363. Different reflexes

  364. begin,

  365. sucking motion,

  366. opening and closing eyes,

  367. grabbing and curling toes.

  368. A 12-week-old

  369. unborn child

  370. plays

  371. with its umbilical cord.

  372. Swallowing,

  373. kicking,

  374. flipping,

  375. and waving arms.

  376. All of that is happening

  377. at this age.

  378. I will give

  379. a

  380. brief warning

  381. at this point.

  382. I'm going to try

  383. to keep this PG.

  384. I'm going to explain

  385. a little bit

  386. of the abortive procedure

  387. and if you have any

  388. children in here

  389. you don't want to hear that.

  390. Now's your time

  391. to run out of the room.

  392. But I want to tell you

  393. a little bit

  394. about what happens

  395. to a child

  396. of this age

  397. in a surgical abortion.

  398. The procedure

  399. is called

  400. dilation

  401. and evacuation.

  402. It takes

  403. about five minutes

  404. and

  405. the woman,

  406. the mother,

  407. is dilated

  408. and a

  409. catheter

  410. attached to

  411. a suction machine

  412. is placed inside of her

  413. and that baby

  414. is sucked out

  415. of the inside of her.

  416. The amniotic fluid

  417. is pulled out

  418. and the baby

  419. comes out

  420. usually

  421. in pieces.

  422. That's this age.

  423. Not long after,

  424. up to

  425. 24 weeks

  426. and 6 days

  427. here in the state

  428. of Georgia,

  429. that procedure

  430. begins to be

  431. a little more

  432. graphic

  433. and I just

  434. wanted to read

  435. to you,

  436. this is from

  437. the Atlanta

  438. Women's Medical Center

  439. and Abortion Clinic.

  440. This is the way

  441. they describe it.

  442. The surgical abortion

  443. after dilation

  444. is complete

  445. in a manner

  446. similar to

  447. but more extensive

  448. than

  449. the method

  450. described

  451. for first trimester

  452. abortions

  453. and glaze

  454. what's happening

  455. over.

  456. Let me tell you

  457. what's happening.

  458. The second trimester

  459. abortion,

  460. the woman is

  461. dilated.

  462. The same

  463. suction is used

  464. to pull out

  465. all the amniotic fluid

  466. at which point

  467. the baby suffocates

  468. and then

  469. the doctor

  470. sticks a long

  471. pair of forceps

  472. up inside the woman

  473. and blindly

  474. feels around

  475. until he grabs

  476. something,

  477. clamps down

  478. and he yanks it out

  479. so an arm

  480. comes out

  481. and then a leg

  482. comes out.

  483. His goal

  484. is to get

  485. everything out

  486. from inside

  487. the woman.

  488. Eventually the head

  489. has to come out

  490. but he has to

  491. crush it

  492. for it to come out

  493. and that's what

  494. he does.

  495. The whole procedure

  496. takes about 15 minutes

  497. and he pockets

  498. about $1,000.

  499. That is what's

  500. happening

  501. to the unborn

  502. children.

  503. It's atrocious.

  504. I'm trembling

  505. talking about it

  506. right now.

  507. Approximately

  508. 1.3 million

  509. unborn children

  510. a year

  511. are murdered

  512. in America.

  513. There have been

  514. over 53 million

  515. unborn child murders

  516. since Roe v. Wade

  517. was passed

  518. in 1973.

  519. 53 million.

  520. This is a genocide

  521. much larger

  522. than anything

  523. that happened

  524. during the Holocaust.

  525. You history buffs

  526. can tell me

  527. if I'm wrong

  528. but at the hands

  529. of Adolf Hitler

  530. I believe

  531. about 41 million

  532. people died.

  533. It's about

  534. 30 million Russians

  535. 6 million Jews

  536. and about

  537. 5 million

  538. of the Allied

  539. troops

  540. were killed.

  541. 41 million.

  542. This has surpassed

  543. even the casualties

  544. of that war

  545. and if we're

  546. going to be

  547. consistent in our

  548. logic as

  549. these bioethicists

  550. do

  551. we would justify

  552. the Holocaust

  553. and the

  554. atrocities of that

  555. war.

  556. We would say

  557. well

  558. these people

  559. were an inconvenience

  560. to Hitler

  561. and his plan.

  562. Hitler wanted

  563. to rule the world

  564. he didn't care

  565. for some of these

  566. people

  567. and therefore

  568. it was okay

  569. for him to choose

  570. to just dismiss

  571. them

  572. and dispose

  573. of them

  574. and move on

  575. and that is what

  576. we're doing

  577. with the unborn

  578. children.

  579. 1.3 million

  580. a year

  581. that's about

  582. 3,800

  583. abortions

  584. that are performed

  585. each day.

  586. 3,800

  587. and in the hour

  588. and a half

  589. we will have met

  590. this morning

  591. 237

  592. unborn children

  593. will have been

  594. murdered.

  595. 237

  596. this room

  597. has in it

  598. I don't know

  599. I'm going to guess

  600. about 70 people

  601. so we're

  602. what is that

  603. a fifth

  604. of that number

  605. and if a man

  606. walked in the back

  607. of this room

  608. today

  609. and killed

  610. all of us

  611. it would be

  612. national news

  613. there would be

  614. outcry

  615. it happened

  616. recently

  617. did it

  618. in a movie theater

  619. 12 people

  620. lost their lives

  621. and that's a tragedy

  622. I'm not

  623. making light

  624. of that

  625. it's a tragedy

  626. that those 12

  627. people died

  628. but in an hour

  629. and a half

  630. 237 people

  631. are going to be

  632. murdered

  633. this morning

  634. and we're

  635. quiet

  636. secondly

  637. aborting

  638. unborn children

  639. is bad

  640. it's not healthy

  641. for women

  642. the pro-life

  643. argument

  644. has often

  645. been framed

  646. as an

  647. anti-woman

  648. argument

  649. I heard on

  650. conservative talk

  651. radio the other

  652. day that

  653. Romney

  654. is losing

  655. the woman

  656. vote

  657. because he's

  658. pro-life

  659. it's often

  660. framed that

  661. way

  662. but

  663. let me show

  664. you that

  665. pro-life

  666. is actually

  667. pro-woman

  668. it's pro-women's

  669. life

  670. as well

  671. the effects

  672. the physical

  673. effects

  674. and the

  675. psychological

  676. effects

  677. that abortion

  678. has on women

  679. is rather

  680. atrocious

  681. and let me

  682. just start

  683. with the

  684. physical

  685. effects

  686. Dr. Elizabeth

  687. Shatigan

  688. testified before

  689. a senate

  690. subcommittee

  691. in 2004

  692. this

  693. start quote

  694. abortion

  695. increases rates

  696. of breast

  697. cancer

  698. placenta

  699. previa

  700. preterm

  701. births

  702. and maternal

  703. suicide

  704. statistically

  705. all types

  706. of death

  707. are higher

  708. with women

  709. who have

  710. induced

  711. abortions

  712. end quote

  713. ectopic

  714. pregnancy

  715. which is

  716. when

  717. the egg

  718. and plants

  719. in the

  720. fallopian

  721. tube

  722. and not

  723. in the

  724. uterus

  725. that is

  726. something

  727. I learned

  728. this week

  729. are responsible

  730. for 12%

  731. of all

  732. pregnancy

  733. related

  734. maternal

  735. deaths

  736. and it's

  737. increased

  738. 500%

  739. since abortion

  740. was legalized

  741. Dr. Joel

  742. Brind

  743. said

  744. the single

  745. most

  746. avoidable

  747. risk

  748. factor

  749. for breast

  750. cancer

  751. is

  752. induced

  753. abortion

  754. end quote

  755. women

  756. who have

  757. abortions

  758. have a

  759. minimum

  760. a minimum

  761. 50%

  762. greater

  763. chance

  764. of having

  765. breast

  766. cancer

  767. to as

  768. much

  769. as

  770. a

  771. 300%

  772. greater

  773. chance

  774. of having

  775. breast

  776. cancer

  777. abortion

  778. also

  779. ends

  780. in

  781. death

  782. for

  783. women

  784. on

  785. July

  786. 20th

  787. just

  788. recently

  789. national

  790. news

  791. a woman

  792. named

  793. Tanya

  794. Reeves

  795. went in

  796. for a

  797. second term

  798. abortion

  799. in

  800. Chicago

  801. and she

  802. hemorrhaged

  803. on the

  804. table

  805. it took

  806. five

  807. hours

  808. for her

  809. to bleed

  810. out

  811. and you

  812. know what

  813. the abortion

  814. clinic did

  815. kept her

  816. there

  817. so it

  818. would have

  819. looked real

  820. bad to rush

  821. her off

  822. to the ER

  823. wouldn't it

  824. for this

  825. procedure

  826. this

  827. thing

  828. that's

  829. touted

  830. as

  831. just

  832. another

  833. procedure

  834. just

  835. another

  836. surgery

  837. to be

  838. done

  839. psychological

  840. effects

  841. dozens

  842. of studies

  843. tie abortion

  844. to a rise

  845. in sexual

  846. dysfunction

  847. aversion

  848. to sex

  849. loss

  850. of intimacy

  851. unexpected

  852. guilt

  853. extramarital

  854. affairs

  855. traumatic

  856. stress

  857. syndrome

  858. personality

  859. fragmentation

  860. grief

  861. response

  862. child abuse

  863. and neglect

  864. and an

  865. increase

  866. in alcohol

  867. and drug

  868. abuse

  869. women

  870. who have

  871. abortions

  872. are five

  873. times

  874. more likely

  875. to abuse

  876. drugs

  877. there was

  878. a study

  879. done

  880. of a group

  881. of women

  882. just eight

  883. weeks after

  884. abortion

  885. and many

  886. of these

  887. things don't

  888. show up

  889. until much

  890. much later

  891. in a woman's

  892. life

  893. but just

  894. eight weeks

  895. after an

  896. abortion

  897. 44%

  898. of these

  899. women

  900. reported

  901. nervous

  902. disorders

  903. 36%

  904. sleep

  905. disorders

  906. 31%

  907. deep

  908. regret

  909. about

  910. their

  911. decision

  912. and

  913. 11%

  914. had

  915. already

  916. been

  917. prescribed

  918. psychotropic

  919. medication

  920. just eight

  921. weeks

  922. after their

  923. abortion

  924. the group

  925. women

  926. exploited

  927. by

  928. abortion

  929. has

  930. chapters

  931. all across

  932. the United

  933. States

  934. for women

  935. who decide

  936. they'd like

  937. to reach

  938. out

  939. and receive

  940. support

  941. for the

  942. trauma

  943. they've

  944. experienced

  945. in abortion

  946. has

  947. 30,000

  948. members

  949. in the

  950. US

  951. psychological

  952. effects

  953. are also

  954. so deep

  955. and if

  956. abortion

  957. is just

  958. another

  959. surgical

  960. procedure

  961. why is it

  962. that we

  963. don't see

  964. support groups

  965. for people

  966. who have

  967. had their

  968. wisdom teeth

  969. taken out

  970. or

  971. an appendectomy

  972. !

  973. We don't see

  974. support groups

  975. for people

  976. like that

  977. because there

  978. is no

  979. psychological

  980. damage done

  981. for such

  982. a simple

  983. surgical

  984. procedure

  985. abortion

  986. is so

  987. much

  988. more

  989. so

  990. the pro-life

  991. movement

  992. those of us

  993. who hold

  994. to that

  995. is also

  996. pro-women

  997. I care

  998. about

  999. women

  1000. care deeply

  1001. about their

  1002. health

  1003. and their

  1004. psychology

  1005. I want

  1006. to see

  1007. culture

  1008. reformed

  1009. and I want

  1010. to see

  1011. women

  1012. healthy

  1013. thirdly

  1014. aborting

  1015. unborn

  1016. children

  1017. is bad

  1018. for men

  1019. men

  1020. also report

  1021. some of

  1022. the same

  1023. psychological

  1024. effects

  1025. however

  1026. many men

  1027. are not

  1028. involved

  1029. at all

  1030. in the

  1031. decision

  1032. 80%

  1033. of women

  1034. who obtain

  1035. abortions

  1036. are single

  1037. and have

  1038. no support

  1039. from the

  1040. father

  1041. 80%

  1042. this epidemic

  1043. has allowed

  1044. men

  1045. and I use

  1046. that term

  1047. very loosely

  1048. really I should

  1049. say boys

  1050. playing at

  1051. men games

  1052. to ignore

  1053. their responsibilities

  1054. is that it has

  1055. permitted them to

  1056. do as they

  1057. please without

  1058. any regard

  1059. to the

  1060. consequence

  1061. this week

  1062. I was

  1063. I was watching

  1064. Cade

  1065. and he

  1066. for quite

  1067. a while

  1068. has climbed

  1069. up onto

  1070. the back

  1071. of our

  1072. couch

  1073. and crawled

  1074. down the

  1075. length of

  1076. it

  1077. on Thursday

  1078. he decided

  1079. it would be

  1080. awesome to

  1081. stand up

  1082. on the back

  1083. of the

  1084. couch

  1085. and take

  1086. a header

  1087. off the

  1088. couch

  1089. and literally

  1090. he jumped

  1091. onto the

  1092. cushion

  1093. and then

  1094. onto his

  1095. head

  1096. on the

  1097. floor

  1098. boys don't

  1099. think about

  1100. consequences

  1101. do they

  1102. he just

  1103. did that

  1104. now

  1105. fortunately

  1106. he learned

  1107. the consequences

  1108. in this

  1109. case

  1110. these boys

  1111. the consequences

  1112. of their

  1113. action

  1114. is taken

  1115. out on

  1116. somebody else

  1117. not on

  1118. them

  1119. and legally

  1120. we permit

  1121. that to

  1122. happen

  1123. so aborting

  1124. unborn children

  1125. is also

  1126. bad for

  1127. men

  1128. it has

  1129. permitted

  1130. many men

  1131. to stay

  1132. boys

  1133. and lastly

  1134. aborting

  1135. unborn children

  1136. is bad

  1137. for the

  1138. church

  1139. I want you

  1140. to turn

  1141. with me

  1142. to Isaiah

    Isaiah 1 chapter mention

  1143. chapter 1

  1144. I'll begin

  1145. reading

  1146. in verse

  1147. 11

  1148. what to

  1149. me is

  1150. the multitude

  1151. of your

  1152. sacrifices

  1153. says the

  1154. Lord

  1155. I have

  1156. had enough

  1157. of burnt

  1158. offerings

  1159. of rams

  1160. and the

  1161. fat of

  1162. well-fed

  1163. beasts

  1164. I do

  1165. not delight

  1166. in the

  1167. blood of

  1168. bulls

  1169. or of

  1170. lambs

  1171. or of

  1172. goats

  1173. when you

  1174. come to

  1175. appear

  1176. before me

  1177. who has

  1178. required

  1179. of you

  1180. this

  1181. trampling

  1182. of my

  1183. courts

  1184. bring

  1185. no more

  1186. vain

  1187. offerings

  1188. incense

  1189. is an

  1190. abomination

  1191. to me

  1192. new moon

  1193. and sabbath

  1194. and the

  1195. calling of

  1196. convocations

  1197. I cannot

  1198. endure

  1199. iniquity

  1200. and solemn

  1201. assembly

  1202. your new

  1203. moons

  1204. and your

  1205. appointed

  1206. feasts

  1207. my soul

  1208. hates

  1209. they have

  1210. become a

  1211. burden

  1212. to me

  1213. and I

  1214. am weary

  1215. of bearing

  1216. them

  1217. when you

  1218. spread out

  1219. your hands

  1220. I will hide

  1221. my eyes

  1222. from you

  1223. even though

  1224. you make

  1225. many prayers

  1226. I will

  1227. not listen

  1228. your hands

  1229. are full

  1230. of blood

  1231. wash

  1232. yourselves

  1233. make

  1234. yourselves

  1235. clean

  1236. remove

  1237. the evil

  1238. of your

  1239. deeds

  1240. from before

  1241. my eyes

  1242. cease

  1243. to do

  1244. evil

  1245. learn

  1246. to do

  1247. good

  1248. seek

  1249. justice

  1250. correct

  1251. oppression

  1252. bring

  1253. justice

  1254. to the

  1255. fatherless

  1256. plead

  1257. the

  1258. widow's

  1259. cause

  1260. through the

  1261. prophet

  1262. Isaiah

  1263. God said

  1264. to his

  1265. people

  1266. you're going

  1267. through the

  1268. motions

  1269. of religion

  1270. doing

  1271. things that

  1272. he had

  1273. commanded

  1274. them to

  1275. do

  1276. making

  1277. sacrifice

  1278. he had

  1279. told them

  1280. to do

  1281. that

  1282. but they

  1283. were just

  1284. going

  1285. through the

  1286. motions

  1287. of doing

  1288. that

  1289. and how

  1290. many of

  1291. us

  1292. do the

  1293. same

  1294. come here

  1295. and sit

  1296. to go

  1297. through the

  1298. motion

  1299. of going

  1300. through

  1301. church

  1302. how many

  1303. people

  1304. this

  1305. morning

  1306. across

  1307. the

  1308. united

  1309. states

  1310. are

  1311. doing

  1312. just

  1313. that

  1314. and what's

  1315. the correction

  1316. he brings

  1317. to them

  1318. verse 17

  1319. learn to

  1320. do good

  1321. seek

  1322. justice

  1323. correct

  1324. oppression

  1325. he's saying

  1326. defend

  1327. the

  1328. defenseless

  1329. fight

  1330. for those

  1331. who

  1332. cannot

  1333. fight

  1334. for

  1335. themselves

  1336. in

  1337. surveys

  1338. 26%

  1339. of

  1340. Americans

  1341. have

  1342. strong

  1343. pro-choice

  1344. opinions

  1345. that I

  1346. use the term

  1347. again

  1348. pro-abortion

  1349. opinions

  1350. 29%

  1351. of those

  1352. survey

  1353. have strong

  1354. pro-life

  1355. opinions

  1356. which leaves

  1357. 55%

  1358. of this

  1359. country

  1360. that

  1361. doesn't

  1362. really

  1363. know

  1364. where

  1365. they

  1366. stand

  1367. they

  1368. might

  1369. lean

  1370. one

  1371. direction

  1372. or the

  1373. other

  1374. the church

  1375. has a

  1376. responsibility

  1377. to work

  1378. it's not

  1379. hopeless

  1380. it's not

  1381. the 29%

  1382. of us

  1383. against

  1384. the 71%

  1385. it's the

  1386. 29%

  1387. against

  1388. the 26%

  1389. and there's

  1390. so many

  1391. opinions

  1392. to be

  1393. swayed

  1394. we can

  1395. have

  1396. an impact

  1397. on this

  1398. issue

  1399. we must

  1400. stand up

  1401. for the

  1402. defenseless

  1403. we must

  1404. fight for

  1405. those

  1406. who cannot

  1407. fight for

  1408. themselves

  1409. and I

  1410. don't just

  1411. mean

  1412. unborn

  1413. children

  1414. I also

  1415. mean

  1416. the women

  1417. who are

  1418. being led

  1419. astray

  1420. the culture

  1421. this narrative

  1422. that speaks

  1423. so loud

  1424. as we

  1425. looked in

  1426. proverbs

  1427. all of

  1428. those

  1429. who are

  1430. being taken

  1431. away to

  1432. death

  1433. who are

  1434. stumbling

  1435. to the

  1436. slaughter

  1437. we must

  1438. become a

  1439. voice

  1440. of reason

  1441. to them

  1442. we also

  1443. must be

  1444. consistent

  1445. young ladies

  1446. this is

  1447. especially

  1448. for you

  1449. although none

  1450. of us

  1451. should ignore

  1452. this

  1453. there are

  1454. pills

  1455. that are

  1456. certainly

  1457. abortive

  1458. there are

  1459. after

  1460. morning after

  1461. pills

  1462. certainly

  1463. abortive

  1464. but birth

  1465. control methods

  1466. that most

  1467. women use

  1468. known as

  1469. the pill

  1470. can also

  1471. be

  1472. abortive

  1473. hear me

  1474. carefully

  1475. the pill

  1476. that most

  1477. women take

  1478. does three

  1479. things

  1480. number one

  1481. and primarily

  1482. it tricks a

  1483. woman's body

  1484. into believing

  1485. it's pregnant

  1486. so she won't

  1487. ovulate

  1488. there's no

  1489. egg to be

  1490. fertilized

  1491. no big deal

  1492. that's not

  1493. abortive

  1494. secondly

  1495. they thicken

  1496. the mucus

  1497. in the cervix

  1498. making it

  1499. more difficult

  1500. for sperm

  1501. to reach

  1502. any egg

  1503. that may

  1504. exist

  1505. that's the

  1506. second

  1507. method

  1508. but thirdly

  1509. they prevent

  1510. a fertilized

  1511. egg

  1512. an unborn

  1513. child

  1514. from implanting

  1515. and that's

  1516. abortive

  1517. now I

  1518. can't

  1519. I can't

  1520. draw a line

  1521. in the sand

  1522. about this

  1523. I'm not

  1524. even nearly

  1525. well read

  1526. enough

  1527. it's my

  1528. understanding

  1529. that all

  1530. of those

  1531. contraceptive

  1532. methods

  1533. known as

  1534. the pill

  1535. do this

  1536. they have

  1537. a primary

  1538. and a secondary

  1539. and a tertiary

  1540. methodology

  1541. Sam and I

  1542. used birth control

  1543. she used birth control

1544. when we were first married

  1545. we won't anymore

1546. because of what I've learned

  1547. I can't say that's

1548. the thing you need to do

  1549. but you do

  1550. need to be informed

  1551. and you do

1552. need to do your research

1553. and you do need to

  1554. prayerfully consider

  1555. what you do

1556. what you put in your body

  1557. and the effects

  1558. that it may have

  1559. please be aware

  1560. of that

  1561. so question

  1562. if allowing the murder

  1563. of 1.3 million

  1564. unborn children

  1565. this year

  1566. is so bad

  1567. for everyone

  1568. why do we

  1569. continue

  1570. to permit

  1571. this to happen

  1572. why do we just

  1573. go on with it

  1574. there are some

  1575. that say

1576. that this is an issue

  1577. that's a distraction

  1578. from the gospel

  1579. these social

  1580. narratives

  1581. these things

  1582. that we try to

  1583. drop to do

  1584. is a distraction

  1585. from just simply

  1586. going out

  1587. and preaching

  1588. the gospel

  1589. but I would say

  1590. to you

  1591. in the closing

  1592. record of the book

  1593. of Matthew

  1594. we see what's commonly

  1595. called the great commission

  1596. beginning in verse 16

  1597. it reads

  1598. now the eleven disciples

  1599. went to Galilee

  1600. to the mountain

  1601. to which Jesus

  1602. had directed them

1603. and when they saw him

  1604. they worshipped him

  1605. but some doubted

1606. and Jesus came to them

  1607. and said

  1608. all authority

  1609. in heaven

  1610. and on earth

  1611. has been given

  1612. to me

  1613. go therefore

  1614. and make disciples

  1615. of all nations

  1616. baptizing them

1617. in the name of the

  1618. father and the son

  1619. and the holy spirit

  1620. teaching them

  1621. to observe

  1622. all that I have

  1623. commanded you

  1624. and behold

  1625. I'm with you

  1626. always

  1627. to the end

  1628. of the age

  1629. we're not

  1630. just told

  1631. to go and make

  1632. converts

  1633. we're told to go

  1634. and make

  1635. disciples

  1636. those who follow

  1637. after Jesus Christ

  1638. and therefore

  1639. we must

  1640. teach his ways

  1641. and we also must

  1642. model his ways

  1643. Jesus cared

  1644. deeply

  1645. about

  1646. the oppressed

  1647. look at who

  1648. he hung out with

  1649. the lepers

  1650. were put off

  1651. in another area

  1652. they were considered

  1653. less than human

  1654. culturally

  1655. they were considered

  1656. non-human

1657. and Jesus went to them

  1658. that's who we are

  1659. to be

  1660. as we make

  1661. disciples

  1662. it's very

  1663. gospel

  1664. motivated

  1665. to care

  1666. about

  1667. women

  1668. and men

  1669. and unborn

  1670. children

  1671. we must

  1672. act

  1673. I don't know

  1674. yet exactly

  1675. how this church

  1676. is going to act

  1677. but it will

  1678. if I have anything

  1679. to do with it

  1680. you're going to have

  1681. to run me off

  1682. or we're going to

  1683. do something

  1684. about this issue

  1685. in America

  1686. I don't know

  1687. what we can do

  1688. to impact it

  1689. on such a large

  1690. level

  1691. can we prevent

  1692. the abortion

  1693. the murder

  1694. of 1.3 million

  1695. unborn children

  1696. gosh I pray so

  1697. I don't think so

  1698. I don't think

  1699. that God's going

  1700. to use us

  1701. in that kind

  1702. of a way

  1703. but we can

  1704. do something

  1705. and if we'll

  1706. rise up together

  1707. as evangelical

  1708. Christians

  1709. and speak

  1710. against this

  1711. I believe

  1712. a greater thing

  1713. can be done

  1714. so what can we

  1715. practically be doing

  1716. and we'll do

  1717. some things together

  1718. I promise

  1719. understand the

  1720. politics

  1721. Roe v. Wade

  1722. needs to be

  1723. repealed

  1724. certainly

  1725. that needs

  1726. to happen

  1727. but you know

  1728. that the

  1729. power to punish

  1730. crime

  1731. this is not

  1732. a federal

  1733. issue

  1734. certainly vote

  1735. for people

  1736. who are pro-life

  1737. don't vote

  1738. for anybody

  1739. who's pro-choice

  1740. vote for people

  1741. who are pro-life

  1742. but this isn't

  1743. even a federal

  1744. issue

  1745. you know

  1746. who punishes

  1747. murderers

  1748. the state

  1749. of Georgia

  1750. the federal

  1751. government

  1752. doesn't do

  1753. that

  1754. that's not

  1755. a power

  1756. given to them

  1757. in the

  1758. constitution

  1759. we can affect

  1760. what happens

  1761. on the state

  1762. level

  1763. much more

  1764. readily

  1765. than we can

  1766. on the national

  1767. level

  1768. we need to

  1769. see Roe v. Wade

  1770. repealed

  1771. but then we

  1772. got to go

  1773. after our

  1774. state government

  1775. the people

  1776. want this

  1777. to happen

  1778. I believe

  1779. it can

  1780. I still

  1781. maybe foolishly

  1782. but I still

  1783. believe

  1784. in democracy

  1785. we need to

  1786. be involved

  1787. with our

  1788. local

  1789. efforts

  1790. the Dahlonega

  1791. Care Center

  1792. and the

  1793. Gainesville

  1794. Care Center

  1795. are phenomenal

  1796. resources

  1797. they do

  1798. lots

  1799. for women

  1800. with unborn

  1801. children

  1802. who are

  1803. considering

  1804. these types

  1805. of options

  1806. and we

  1807. will be

  1808. further

  1809. involved

  1810. with them

  1811. in the

  1812. future

  1813. we need

  1814. to be

  1815. alternatives

  1816. we've talked

  1817. to you

  1818. quite a bit

  1819. about our

  1820. church

  1821. we want

  1822. to foster

  1823. and adopt

  1824. children

  1825. beyond that

  1826. we want

  1827. to support

  1828. young mothers

  1829. single mothers

  1830. who decide

  1831. to keep

  1832. children

  1833. it's something

  1834. we call

  1835. the ABBA

  1836. initiative

  1837. and you'll

  1838. begin to hear

  1839. more and more

  1840. about that

  1841. but we also

  1842. need to be

  1843. offering some

  1844. alternative

  1845. to this

  1846. immoral

  1847. dilemma

  1848. I would

  1849. ask you

  1850. today

  1851. I kind

  1852. of hope

  1853. I haven't

  1854. blown your

  1855. mind

  1856. with any

  1857. new

  1858. information

  1859. I hope

  1860. that you've

  1861. been very

  1862. aware

  1863. of what's

  1864. going on

  1865. but I would

  1866. just ask

  1867. today

  1868. that you

  1869. have God

  1870. search your

  1871. heart

  1872. and expose

  1873. your apathy

  1874. he did

  1875. to me

  1876. this week

  1877. and I

  1878. pray that

  1879. he'll do

  1880. the same

  1881. for you

  1882. that we

  1883. might move

  1884. together

  1885. to see our

  1886. culture changed

  1887. with the

  1888. redemptive

  1889. gospel message

  1890. and we

  1891. can see

  1892. an end

  1893. put to

  1894. the murder

  1895. of unborn

  1896. children

  1897. let's pray

  1898. together

  1899. a

  1900. ending

  1901. a

  1902. Thank you.
