  1. Well, as Nathan said, my name is Kyle Webb, and my wife and my dad and my son are all here this morning.

  2. We have been just overjoyed to be a part of this faith family for the last few weeks.

  3. We've only really been coming here. I think this is our fifth week we've been here.

  4. So just a little warning to those of you who might be visiting.

  5. Be careful when you ask to get involved, okay, around here.

  6. You might be preaching within five weeks of being here.

  7. And I say that just jokingly. I love Nathan, and we were great friends in college,

  8. and we've kind of been separated for a while, and it's good to be back near him.

  9. Good to be back near the Shell Nuts, who I also knew in college, and the Cheathams.

  10. You know, it's a great privilege and joy to be with you here this morning, to have the opportunity to share his word.

  11. I love, this is something I love to do.

  12. This is something that God has really instilled in me with the desire to do, is to share his word.

  13. So what I'd like to do this morning is I'd like for you to turn with me to Ephesians 6.

  14. Nathan mentioned to you that we're going to be talking a little bit about the biblical basis for family-integrated churches.

  15. So I know in some ways this morning that I'm kind of preaching to the choir,

  16. because you're already a family-integrated church.

  17. Most of you, or some of you at least, will know a lot of this already that we're going to be talking through,

  18. but it's a great reminder for us as a faith family to be able to recognize this is why we do the things we do.

  19. And if you are a guest, you've been visiting recently,

  20. this is likely some of the reasons why we do things the way we do here in this church.

  21. So it's kind of twofold.

  22. If you're new here, then you kind of get an understanding, further understanding of why we do this this way at this church.

  23. And you also get an understanding of, for those who have been here for a while,

  24. just kind of a reminder, this is why we do this.

  25. And I have to confess to you something before we jump in this morning.

  26. I'm a recovering student pastor.

  27. I feel like I'm at an AA meeting.

  28. I'm Kyle, and I used to be a youth pastor.

  29. And a lot of what I want to share with you this morning comes out of my convictions

  30. of what happened during that time, those years that I spent in student ministry.

  31. And so I just want you to know that.

  32. I want to share with you this morning some statistics that are just sobering to me.

  33. Recent statistics are showing that we are losing a generation.

  34. For instance, studies are showing now that we're losing anywhere from 75% to 88% of our young people

  35. by the time that they are freshmen in college.

  36. By the way, if you look around, not necessarily in here, but you look around in churches

  37. and all of our churches across America, and there's a generational gap of college students,

  38. 20-somethings that are by and large missing.

  39. And I commend college students.

  40. We have a lot of college students in the room this morning.

  41. And this is even during the summertime when a lot of the college students are away.

  42. So that's really incredible.

  43. This church has been able to sustain that college group, this generational gap that exists in most churches

  44. and across America.

  45. If you look at most churches, though, you're going to see a generational gap of 20-somethings

  46. and going into 30-somethings even, where these people, they're going off to college,

  47. these students are going off to college, and they're not returning.

  48. I want you to think about this as well.

  49. Right now in our culture, our birth rate is below replacement rate.

  50. Replacement rate is 2.1 children per family.

  51. Right now in America, we're at 1.9.

  52. Now it's not as bad as most of the industrialized world.

  53. France is at 1.5.

  54. Italy is even worse at 1.1 children per family.

  55. And what this means is that we're not having enough children for our culture to continue to survive.

  56. We're slowly dying generation by generation.

  57. France has a birth rate of 1.5.

  58. However, the African Muslims and Arab Muslims who have immigrated into France,

  59. their birth rate is 6 children per family.

  60. This means that by sheer numbers alone, France is going to be within two generations of a Muslim country.

  61. Why?

  62. Because the people in France, just like us,

  63. they want prosperity more than they want children.

  64. They want prosperity more than they want the blessings that God has given us through children.

  65. Now let me put these two pieces of statistical information together for you

  66. and let you know why this matters to us here in our culture,

  67. why this matters to Christ's family church.

  68. At two children per family, believers, we're really no different than the rest of our country.

  69. At almost two children per family,

  70. and we're losing at least 75% of our young people by the freshman year of college,

  71. that means that we need two Christian families

  72. to get one believer into the next generation.

  73. Let me make it even more plain.

  74. There are 16 million Southern Baptists on paper.

  75. It doesn't mean they're all worshiping this morning,

  76. but there are 16 million Southern Baptists on paper.

  77. By these numbers, next generation, 4 million.

  78. Third generation, 1 million.

  79. Fourth generation, 250,000.

  80. It's more than just numbers now, isn't it?

  81. Oh, it's okay.

  82. We'll just bring it up through evangelism.

  83. Now that's interesting.

  84. In order to replenish those numbers through evangelism,

  85. we'd have to reach at least three lost people per Christian in our country.

  86. Right now, Southern Baptists are reaching one lost person per 47 Southern Baptists.

  87. Let me make this plan to bring it home.

  88. Christianity in America is dying.

  89. Just plain and simple.

  90. Christianity is dying in our country.

  91. And this is what our answer has been.

  92. In our churches and across the United States,

  93. our answer has been,

  94. let's divorce ourselves from this topic.

  95. Let's separate ourselves from this emerging tragedy that's going on in our country.

  96. And let's give our children to the student ministers and to the children's ministers

  97. and let them take care of it.

  98. Youth pastor will straight them out, right?

  99. Well, that's a valiant effort, but it's simply not enough.

  100. Dr. Reed, one of my evangelism professors in seminary,

  101. wrote this in Raising the Bar.

  102. He says that over the last 30 years,

  103. we have seen the largest increase in numbers of professional youth ministry degrees

  104. and parachurch organizations designed to reach youth.

  105. And we have seen the greatest decline in youth baptisms ever.

  106. So we have more people who vocationally are trying to reach young people.

  107. We have more organizations who are trying to reach young people.

  108. And yet we have fewer baptisms than ever.

  109. So they say, well, those youth pastors, they're just not doing their jobs.

  110. No, youth pastors for the past 30 years have been trying to do the job

  111. that God has given you as parents to do for your children,

  112. to raise them and encourage them in the admonition of the Lord.

  113. And this is what we're going to see this morning,

  114. is that before the church was established,

  115. before Jesus ever established his church,

  116. that God established a family.

  117. And one of the major functions of the family

  118. is to raise children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

  119. And so before we dive into this text,

  120. I want to consider three simple foundations

  121. that are going to guide us as we go through this text this morning.

  122. The first is that the Word is sufficient.

  123. God's Word is sufficient.

  124. I must confess that I'm not really an expert at much of anything.

  125. I don't really consider myself an expert of really much of anything at all.

  126. And I'm certainly not an expert on parenting.

  127. And so I hope that you find it comforting this morning

  128. that I don't feel like it's my job or my position

  129. to tell you how you need to be parenting your children,

  130. to give you parental advice.

  131. I just don't think that that's what God's called me to do this morning.

  132. And it's not my goal to give you my personal philosophy on parenting.

  133. My goal is to expose this Word, which is true in our lives.

  134. And to expose what God has told us about parenting.

  135. And by the way, for those of you who are single in here,

  136. this message is for you as well.

  137. Those who are single or maybe you're married but don't have any children.

  138. Because we as a faith family need to absorb ourselves into this faith family

  139. and be able to encourage the parents,

  140. be able to help the parents as they try to raise their children in a godly manner.

  141. So for you this morning, if you're single,

  142. maybe one day you'll get married.

  143. Maybe God's leading you toward that.

  144. Maybe God's going to bless you with children one day.

  145. And so hopefully these words will be true and ring true into your lives,

  146. into the future as God leads you in that direction.

  147. And my goal is to expose this Word that's true,

  148. that's really foundational for all of our lives, for all parenting.

  149. I'm going to stick as quickly, as closely to God's Word as I can.

  150. And it's not that God's kind of wishing that He had a revised New Testament

  151. saying what would be more relevant into a culture today.

  152. It's not like God's sitting around thinking,

  153. man, if I could just write a whole New Testament

  154. that we could teach parents more about what it means to be parenting in today's culture.

  155. But God gave us exactly what we need in His Word.

  156. We have everything we need, which raises the level, which raises the importance of God's Word.

  157. When we gather here as a faith family,

  158. we've got to realize that we're teaching from a Word that God has given to us,

  159. that has everything pertaining to life and godliness.

  160. And so there's no different this morning.

  161. We need to unpack what the Word has to say about parenting.

  162. Now, I know as soon as I say that,

  163. there's going to be parents in this room that are thinking,

  164. now, Kyle, it's great and all, it's very interesting that you're saying all this,

  165. but I'm not sure that Habakkuk and 1 Chronicles

  166. has a lot to say about the situation that I'm in right now.

  167. And you're probably right.

  168. I think I would go so far as to say this,

  169. I don't believe that this book was written to give you all the answers

  170. to all of your parenting questions.

  171. Believe me, one of the things that I'm looking forward to

  172. is when Joseph can actually communicate to us.

  173. He's 16 months old.

  174. It'll be really great when he can actually communicate what's wrong

  175. because as it is right now,

  176. he just likes to scream when something's wrong.

  177. And we don't know whether we need to take him to the hospital

  178. or to give him a bottle.

  179. Sometimes we're just kind of wondering,

  180. what do we need to do with him?

  181. And Habakkuk really isn't telling us,

  182. giving us the answer to that.

  183. You know, Habakkuk's not really fueling the answer for something like that

  184. in our parenting.

  185. However, this is the way the Word is sufficient.

  186. And don't miss this because this is the key in our lives.

  187. The most important thing that you can do for your children

  188. is to grow into the image of Jesus Christ.

  189. In Leviticus and 2 Chronicles and Habakkuk,

  190. they all speak to that.

  191. And your kids need to see Christ in you more than they need to see the philosophy of Dr. Phil.

  192. So let's not bypass this Word,

  193. which is sufficient for all life,

  194. for all godliness,

  195. for all parenting.

  196. The Word is sufficient.

  197. And it's the means by which God is transforming you

  198. into the image of Christ.

  199. Secondly,

  200. second foundation this morning,

  201. the home is central.

  202. This is where we get ourselves into trouble.

  203. And not in this church,

  204. but in churches across America,

  205. we get ourselves into trouble here

  206. because we live in an age of professionalism.

  207. We hire out even responsibilities,

  208. our own responsibilities as parents.

  209. We want our sons to be good athletes,

  210. so we send them to the ball coach

  211. to teach them skills

  212. so they can become the best athlete possible.

  213. We want our daughters

  214. to get the best possible education,

  215. so we send our daughters to the tutors

  216. so that she can get her grades up

  217. and so that she can make better scores on her SATs.

  218. And then what happens is

  219. we transfer that into the church world.

  220. And in the church world,

  221. we send our children to the student pastor,

  222. to the children's ministry

  223. to get the best possible biblical education.

  224. What we're going to see this morning

  225. is that from the very beginning,

  226. God has established the home

  227. as the central and primary method

  228. from transferring His Word

  229. from one generation to the next generation.

  230. It's not the responsibility of youth pastors

  231. and of children's pastors

  232. to teach or to evangelize your children.

  233. As a believer in Jesus Christ,

  234. it's your responsibility

  235. to disciple

  236. and to share the gospel with your children.

  237. I want you to hear loud and clear

  238. that it is not the church's job.

  239. If you're a believer in the room,

  240. it's not the church's job

  241. to evangelize your child.

  242. What we're created within our Christian culture,

  243. our church culture in America,

  244. is an atmosphere

  245. where it's almost like

  246. we're saying,

  247. listen,

  248. we've got your kids,

  249. you don't worry about it.

  250. We're professionals.

  251. Don't attempt this at home.

  252. And it's wrong.

  253. And it's unbiblical.

  254. And I'll tell you from firsthand experience

  255. that student ministry is ineffective

  256. the way we currently do it

  257. in America.

  258. And I want to encourage parents today

  259. that you have everything that you need

  260. to disciple your family in the home.

  261. Everything that you need

  262. is right here in God's Word.

  263. The Word is sufficient.

  264. The home is central.

  265. The gospel is necessary.

  266. We've got to have the gospel

  267. being taught in our homes.

  268. You have to teach our children.

  269. We've got to teach your children the gospel.

  270. The gospel is not something

  271. that we just hear in prayer,

  272. prayer,

  273. and move on with the rest of our lives.

  274. The gospel is incredibly important in the home.

  275. It's our source of salvation.

  276. And by the way,

  277. it's our only source of salvation.

  278. I don't think I have to tell any parents

  279. in the room this morning

  280. that your child

  281. has the propensity to sin.

  282. They kind of come out that way, right?

  283. They come out ready to take you on

  284. with their best shot.

  285. I know this from having a 16-month-old

  286. and already he's tried.

  287. Don't get me wrong.

  288. He's the biggest blessing in my life in the world.

  289. But he's also sometimes the biggest challenge

  290. that I've ever experienced.

  291. Because children,

  292. they come out as sinners.

  293. And guess what?

  294. You're a sinner too.

  295. So what happens when you put sinful children

  296. and sinful parents under the same roof?

  297. You've got yourself a challenge, right?

  298. Some of you in here might just have an amen

  299. to say to that.

  300. Some of you are just saying,

  301. that's me.

  302. You're speaking to me right now, Kyle.

  303. And here's the deal.

  304. You won't find this in many books

  305. or many seminars

  306. or any self-help type conferences.

  307. But what your children ultimately need

  308. is the gospel.

  309. See, in a lot of books that you read,

  310. you'll see a lot about behavior change.

  311. This is how you change your child's behavior.

  312. But the ultimate reality is

  313. that until your child has the gospel,

  314. until Jesus gives us new hearts,

  315. there's no hope for change.

  316. And as a parent,

  317. until your child is able to receive Christ,

  318. until Jesus is able to impact them

  319. and change them from the inside out,

  320. you've got no hope for change.

  321. We need new hearts.

  322. Our children need new hearts.

  323. Not just to be saved from the penalty of sin

  324. and just move on with our lives.

  325. We need new hearts.

  326. The gospel is our source for transformation.

  327. This is Ephesians 5.18,

  328. the context in which our passage this morning is found.

  329. Be filled with the Holy Spirit,

  330. the Spirit in you through the gospel,

  331. transforming you.

  332. No matter how much we teach our children to be good,

  333. there's no way for them to follow God's word

  334. apart from the grace of God working within them

  335. and changing their hearts and their lives.

  336. And so it's with these three foundations

  337. that we dive into our text this morning.

  338. Ephesians chapter 6,

    Ephesians 6 chapter mention

  339. starting in verse 1.

  340. I know this is a long intro,

  341. but just bear with me.

  342. We needed to get through some stuff

  343. before we dive into the text.

  344. Ephesians 6, verse 1.

    Ephesians 6:1

  345. And children,

  346. obey your parents and the Lord,

  347. for this is right.

  348. Honor your father and mother,

  349. which is the first commandment with a promise,

  350. so that it may be well with you,

  351. and that you may live long on the earth.

  352. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger,

  353. but bring them up in the discipline

  354. and instruction of the Lord.

  355. You look at all four verses in this passage,

  356. and all four verses,

  357. parents are emphasized.

  358. In verse 4, it's fathers.

  359. In Scripture, we get this picture

  360. that fathers are to be the leaders in the home.

  361. They're supposed to be responsible

  362. for the spiritual formation of the family.

  363. Not sole responsibility,

  364. but a leading responsibility.

  365. You see back in Ephesians 5,

  366. one chapter before where we are this morning,

  367. Ephesians 5, it doesn't get any clearer.

  368. The husband is the head of the home.

  369. Husbands need to lead families.

  370. It doesn't mean that, man,

  371. that we're supposed to lord over our wives and children.

  372. It's not like we should say,

  373. me, man, you, woman, me, say, you do.

  374. Right?

  375. We're supposed to love our families,

  376. Ephesians 5 says,

  377. as Christ loved the church

  378. and gave himself up for her.

  379. Men, it's time that we step up to the plate

  380. and give ourselves up for our families.

  381. The sacrificial love

  382. that God has called us to,

  383. men in the room.

  384. So what does this word say to parents?

  385. What is the application here to parents?

  386. God gives you children by His grace.

  387. God gives you children by His grace.

  388. Verse 1,

  389. Obey your parents and the Lord.

  390. Verse 4,

  391. Bring them up in the discipline

  392. and instruction of the Lord.

  393. The whole picture here

  394. is bookended in this passage.

  395. It revolves around God.

  396. The picture is that God

  397. has entrusted children to the parents.

  398. Parents, your children are not your own.

  399. They are God's.

  400. And you are stewards over them.

  401. And God has called you

  402. to do something with them.

  403. And in this passage,

  404. God has called you

  405. to raise them up

  406. in the instruction

  407. and discipline of the Lord.

  408. Not only does God give you children

  409. by His grace,

  410. God gives you children

  411. for His glory.

  412. You look throughout Scripture.

  413. You look all the way back to Genesis.

  414. And you begin to see that God,

  415. everything that He does

  416. throughout history

  417. has been for His glory.

  418. Genesis is where Abraham

  419. receives the blessing.

  420. God gives Abraham a blessing.

  421. He's going to be the father

  422. of many nations.

  423. Why?

  424. Scripture says it's for God's glory.

  425. The walls come down at Jericho.

  426. For whose glory?

  427. For God's glory.

  428. David is able to slay Goliath

  429. for the glory of God.

  430. So that a nation

  431. would come to worship

  432. and so that all people

  433. would see that God

  434. is the kind of God

  435. that takes care of His people.

  436. And that God would be glorified in that.

  437. Even down to the cross.

  438. Jesus died on the cross.

  439. Yes, because of our sin.

  440. And we get to benefit

  441. from the sacrifice

  442. that Christ made.

  443. But it was ultimately

  444. for God's glory.

  445. So God has given us children

  446. by His grace

  447. and for His glory.

  448. And I want to put that

  449. next to what the world says

  450. about being a successful parent.

  451. Because there's a huge gap

  452. between what the world says

  453. as being a successful parent

  454. and what the Bible says

  455. as being a successful parent.

  456. The goal of biblical parenting

  457. is not to help your children

  458. get a good education.

  459. The goal is not that you see to it

  460. that your children

  461. have the best grades.

  462. Go to the best college.

  463. As the best education.

  464. Now I'm not saying

  465. that education is bad.

  466. There's certainly

  467. some validity in the statement

  468. that we need

  469. to honor and glorify God

  470. with our minds

  471. to the best of our ability.

  472. I believe that that's true

  473. and part of that is education.

  474. But what we run into

  475. a problem is

  476. when we put grades

  477. and we put education

  478. far above relationship

  479. with Christ

  480. in our homes.

  481. The goal of biblical parenting

  482. is not to help your children

  483. be a great athlete.

  484. The goal is not

  485. to make your children

  486. the best

  487. at every single sport

  488. that they play.

  489. It's not running yourself ragged

  490. throwing the kids

  491. in the minivan

  492. running them around

  493. all over town

  494. trying to get to every

  495. sporting event

  496. that they play.

  497. To win trophies

  498. that will eventually

  499. sit around

  500. gathering dust

  501. in some room

  502. that you never go in.

  503. That's not the goal

  504. of biblical parenting.

  505. The goal of biblical parenting

  506. is not for your child

  507. to go on great dates.

  508. The goal of biblical parenting

  509. is not to help your children

  510. in glorified divorce practice

  511. which is what dating

  512. essentially is.

  513. Where children

  514. and teenagers

  515. and sometimes younger

  516. even onto their college years

  517. are involved

  518. in exclusive relationships

  519. sometimes even

  520. sexual relationships

  521. only to move on

  522. to somebody else

  523. the next year.

  524. It's glorified

  525. the divorce practice

  526. and parents

  527. we should not

  528. be encouraging it.

  529. The goal of biblical parenting

  530. is not to help

  531. your children

  532. have a great career.

  533. Likewise

  534. the goal

  535. is not to help

  536. your children

  537. make great money.

  538. See the problem

  539. with all of these

  540. is that there are

  541. worldly views

  542. of success.

  543. And not what the Bible

  544. teaches

  545. is successful.

  546. I'm not saying

  547. these things

  548. are inherently bad

  549. I'm saying that

  550. we're teaching

  551. our children

  552. what it means

  553. to be successful

  554. in the world's sight

  555. not in God's sight.

  556. And even in our churches

  557. we're teaching

  558. our children

  559. that they need

  560. to be successful

  561. in this world

  562. and this is simply

  563. not true.

  564. But here's why

  565. this is important

  566. and this is why

  567. this is so subtly

  568. dangerous to us

  569. because the picture

  570. that is so common

  571. is that we

  572. tell our children

  573. that they need

  574. to get good grades

  575. that they need

  576. to be dating

  577. the cutest guy

  578. or girl

  579. in high school

  580. that they need

  581. to be good at sports

  582. that they need

  583. to work hard

  584. and play an instrument

  585. so that they

  586. can be successful

  587. in this world.

  588. All along

  589. we teach them

  590. these things

  591. and every single day

  592. we prioritize

  593. a worldly view

  594. of success

  595. and yet we're not

  596. teaching our children

  597. to serve

  598. the Lord

  599. in their lives.

  600. We're not

  601. prioritizing God

  602. in our homes

  603. and in our families.

  604. And God help us

  605. if our answer

  606. is to say

  607. well we attend

  608. church every week.

  609. so you give

  610. a couple hours

  611. every week

  612. to God

  613. while pouring

  614. hours upon

  615. hours upon

  616. hours of your

  617. time and effort

  618. into taking

  619. your kids

  620. to ball practice

  621. and to their

  622. ball games

  623. and to gymnastics

  624. and to the dance

  625. team and everything

  626. else that is

  627. wrapped in this

  628. secular world view.

  629. This is what

  630. Bodie Bauckham

  631. says, author,

  632. professor, and pastor.

  633. He says in his book

  634. that's called

  635. Family Driven Faith

  636. he says if I teach

  637. my son to keep

  638. his eye on the ball

  639. but fail to teach

  640. him to keep

  641. his eyes on Christ

  642. I have failed

  643. as a father.

  644. We must refuse

  645. to allow trivial

  646. temporal pursuits

  647. to interfere

  648. with the main thing.

  649. No sports endeavor

  650. will ever be

  651. as important

  652. as becoming a man

  653. or a woman

  654. of God.

  655. Later on he goes

  656. in his book

  657. he goes on

  658. to share about

  659. this family

  660. who's struggling

  661. with their college

  662. student.

  663. Thomas had grown

  664. up in the church

  665. and he was a

  666. regular in the

  667. youth group

  668. and he attended

  669. Disciple Now.

  670. He went to all

  671. the youth group

  672. meetings on a

  673. regular basis.

  674. He went on

  675. the mission trips

  676. with the church.

  677. When Thomas

  678. got into college

  679. things began to

  680. change.

  681. He stopped

  682. attending church.

  683. He began to

  684. struggle in class.

  685. Upon further

  686. investigation his

  687. parents found out

  688. the reason why

  689. he was failing

  690. his classes

  691. was because he

  692. was out drinking

  693. at night.

  694. with his

  695. buddies and

  696. often times

  697. missing classes.

  698. Finally Thomas

  699. was suspended

  700. from the college

  701. baseball team

  702. because the

  703. result of a

  704. random drug

  705. test revealed

  706. that he was

  707. using anabolic

  708. steroids.

  709. The story

  710. kind of begs

  711. this question

  712. what happened?

  713. What happened?

  714. How could this

  715. happen to such

  716. a promising

  717. young man?

  718. this is what

  719. Bodie Bauckham

  720. says.

  721. He says,

  722. this man and

  723. his wife had

  724. gone to great

  725. lengths to see

  726. to it that

  727. their son became

  728. the best

  729. baseball player

  730. he could be.

  731. This also

  732. meant that

  733. during the

  734. summer and

  735. fall church

  736. attendance was

  737. sporadic at

  738. best.

  739. Like many

  740. parents they

  741. found themselves

  742. traveling to

  743. tournament after

  744. tournament and

  745. praying for the

  746. opportunity to be

  747. out on Sunday

  748. since that meant

  749. that they were

  750. playing for a

  751. title somewhere.

  752. What they

  753. didn't realize was

  754. that they were

  755. teaching Thomas to

  756. prioritize baseball

  757. over the fourth

  758. commandment.

  759. They were

  760. teaching Thomas

  761. that he should

  762. honor the

  763. Sabbath and

  764. keep it holy

  765. unless it's

  766. baseball season.

  767. Thus when Thomas

  768. got to college and

  769. he had to choose

  770. between going to

  771. church and hanging

  772. out with his

  773. teammates the

  774. foundation for his

  775. decision had

  776. already been laid.

  777. In other words

  778. Thomas' lack of

  779. commitment to

  780. spiritual matters

  781. laid the groundwork

  782. for his moral

  783. compromise.

  784. Let me tell you

  785. something.

  786. In this room

  787. this morning

  788. don't think

  789. that this

  790. situation won't

  791. happen to you.

  792. I've seen it

  793. as a student

  794. pastor over

  795. and over

  796. and over

  797. again and

  798. it's especially

  799. true for

  800. parents that

  801. prioritize all

  802. these other

  803. things over

  804. your child's

  805. spiritual formation.

  806. The reality is

  807. that if dads

  808. in this room

  809. are more

  810. passionate about

  811. teaching their

  812. sons how to

  813. swing a baseball

  814. bat than they

  815. are about teaching

  816. your sons how

  817. to study the

  818. Bible then

  819. we've missed

  820. the point.

  821. If moms in

  822. this room are

  823. more passionate

  824. about teaching

  825. their daughters

  826. how to wear

  827. their makeup

  828. than they are

  829. about what it

  830. means to have

  831. a gentle and

  832. quiet spirit

  833. then we've

  834. missed the point.

  835. The danger is

  836. that one day

  837. our sons and

  838. daughters are

  839. going to stand

  840. before God in

  841. heaven with all

  842. of these things

  843. that we've told

  844. them are important.

  845. all these things

  846. we've told them

  847. that would make

  848. them successful

  849. and they're

  850. going to be

  851. standing before

  852. God on that

  853. day and all

  854. of that is

  855. burned up in

  856. the fire.

  857. They stand

  858. before God

  859. as beggars

  860. on that day

  861. and it is

  862. completely and

  863. utterly our

  864. failure as

  865. parents to

  866. have taught

  867. them what was

  868. truly important

  869. in their

  870. lives.

  871. The goal of

  872. biblical parenting

  873. is not to

  874. raise our

  875. children in a

  876. worldly success.

  877. The goal of

  878. biblical parenting

  879. is to help

  880. your children

  881. accomplish a

  882. great commission.

  883. That's the

  884. goal of

  885. biblical parenting.

  886. That is

  887. God's view

  888. of success.

  889. And it's

  890. there from the

  891. beginning of

  892. scripture.

  893. God says to

  894. his people,

  895. you raise your

  896. children to

  897. know me,

  898. to love me,

  899. to serve me.

  900. You raise

  901. your children

  902. to spread my

  903. word, to

  904. make me known

  905. in all the

  906. world.

  907. Is that what's

  908. really driving

  909. our parenting?

  910. Is that what's

  911. really driving

  912. us as parents

  913. today?

  914. Are we

  915. fueling the

  916. great commission

  917. to make

  918. disciples or

  919. are we

  920. hindering?

  921. I've had

  922. parents come

  923. to me as

  924. a student

  925. pastor saying,

  926. I would

  927. never let

  928. my child

  929. go into

  930. a third

  931. world country.

  932. It's just

  933. too dangerous.

  934. I've had

  935. other parents

  936. say, I

  937. would never

  938. let my

  939. child go

  940. into a

  941. country that

  942. was closed

  943. because of

  944. the danger

  945. level that

  946. there is in

  947. that country.

  948. That's because

  949. we've come to

  950. the point in

  951. our Christian

  952. walks where

  953. we value

  954. long life.

  955. You won't

  956. find that in

  957. the word of

  958. God.

  959. You won't

  960. find valuing

  961. long life.

  962. What you

  963. will find is

  964. valuing,

  965. sacrificing

  966. your life,

  967. giving your

  968. life up for

  969. the sake of

  970. the glory of

  971. God.

  972. Jesus had

  973. twelve

  974. followers.

  975. Twelve,

  976. he had more

  977. than that.

  978. Twelve close

  979. followers,

  980. these disciples.

  981. Judas

  982. committed

  983. suicide.

  984. Ten others

  985. died on

  986. account of

  987. sharing and

  988. spreading the

  989. gospel of

  990. Jesus Christ.

  991. Do you

  992. think that

  993. they would

  994. have done

  995. it all

  996. over again

  997. and done

  998. something

  999. different to

  1000. spare their

  1001. lives?

  1002. I don't

  1003. think they

  1004. would have.

  1005. The

  1006. twelfth one

  1007. was exiled

  1008. on account of

  1009. the gospel.

  1010. John was

  1011. exiled on

  1012. account of

  1013. the gospel.

  1014. You simply

  1015. won't find it

  1016. in scripture

  1017. where God

  1018. values long

  1019. life.

  1020. In fact,

  1021. you find the

  1022. opposite.

  1023. Here's where I

  1024. want to take

  1025. you to another

  1026. location in

  1027. scripture.

  1028. Deuteronomy

    Deuteronomy 6 chapter mention

  1029. chapter 6.

  1030. If you would

  1031. turn there

  1032. with me.

  1033. Deuteronomy

    Deuteronomy 6 chapter mention

  1034. chapter 6,

  1035. the fifth book

  1036. of the Bible.

  1037. Another place

  1038. where we

  1039. really don't

  1040. have time to

  1041. go this

  1042. morning,

  1043. we're running

  1044. out of time.

  1045. In Genesis

  1046. 18-19,

  1047. when God

  1048. speaks to

  1049. Abraham about

  1050. his children,

  1051. it's the first

  1052. time the

  1053. teaching is

  1054. ever mentioned

  1055. in God's

  1056. word.

  1057. It's mentioned

  1058. in the context

  1059. of family.

  1060. It's God

  1061. saying to

  1062. Abraham,

  1063. Abraham,

  1064. instruct your

  1065. children in

  1066. my ways.

  1067. Instruct your

  1068. children in

  1069. my commands.

  1070. It's the

  1071. first picture

  1072. that we see

  1073. of this word

  1074. instructing.

  1075. It's used

  1076. in the context

  1077. of a father

  1078. teaching his

  1079. family or

  1080. leading his

  1081. family in

  1082. God's word.

  1083. Then you

  1084. get to

  1085. Deuteronomy

  1086. 6.

  1087. This is what

  1088. Deuteronomy

    Deuteronomy 6:4

  1089. 6 verse 4

  1090. says.

  1091. Hear,

  1092. O Israel,

  1093. the Lord our

  1094. God,

  1095. the Lord is

  1096. one.

  1097. There's a

  1098. statement of

  1099. faith and

  1100. based off

  1101. that statement

  1102. of faith.

  1103. Love the

  1104. Lord your

  1105. God with

  1106. all of

  1107. your heart,

  1108. with all

  1109. your soul,

  1110. with all

  1111. of your

  1112. might.

  1113. These words

  1114. which I

  1115. am commanding

  1116. you today

  1117. shall be

  1118. on your

  1119. heart.

  1120. You

  1121. shall teach

  1122. them how?

  1123. Diligently.

  1124. To your

  1125. sons and

  1126. shall talk

  1127. of them when

  1128. you sit

  1129. in your

  1130. home.

  1131. And when

  1132. you walk

  1133. by the way,

  1134. when you

  1135. lie down,

  1136. and when

  1137. you rise

  1138. up,

  1139. you shall

  1140. bind them

  1141. as a sign

  1142. on your

  1143. hand,

  1144. and they

  1145. shall be

  1146. as frontals

  1147. on your

  1148. forehead.

  1149. You

  1150. shall write

  1151. them on

  1152. the

  1153. doorpost

  1154. of your

  1155. house and

  1156. on your

  1157. gates.

  1158. You get the

  1159. picture here?

  1160. From the

  1161. very beginning,

  1162. the central

  1163. avenue for

  1164. disciple-making,

  1165. for spreading

  1166. the word of

  1167. God,

  1168. has been in

  1169. the home.

  1170. So what does

  1171. this mean for

  1172. us today?

  1173. How can we

  1174. instruct our

  1175. children so

  1176. that they

  1177. know the

  1178. word?

  1179. First of all,

  1180. we have to

  1181. have a verbal

  1182. commitment to

  1183. God's word

  1184. in our

  1185. homes.

  1186. This is

  1187. verse 7.

  1188. Impress

  1189. them on your

  1190. children.

  1191. Talk about

  1192. them when you

  1193. sit at home,

  1194. when you walk

  1195. along the

  1196. road,

  1197. when you

  1198. lie down

  1199. and when

  1200. you get up.

  1201. That pretty

  1202. much covers

  1203. any time

  1204. that you

  1205. can possibly

  1206. be teaching

  1207. God's word

  1208. in your

  1209. home.

  1210. Be teaching

  1211. it.

  1212. If you're

  1213. at home,

  1214. talk about

  1215. the word.

  1216. If you're

  1217. away from

  1218. home,

  1219. talk about

  1220. the word.

  1221. When you're

  1222. going from

  1223. home to

  1224. wherever you're

  1225. going,

  1226. talk about

  1227. the word.

  1228. All the

  1229. time.

  1230. Talk about

  1231. it more

  1232. than you

  1233. talk about

  1234. baseball.

  1235. Talk about

  1236. it more

  1237. than you

  1238. talk about

  1239. college

  1240. football.

  1241. Talk about

  1242. it more

  1243. than you

  1244. talk about

  1245. how to

  1246. do your

  1247. makeup and

  1248. shoes and

  1249. whatever else

  1250. girls talk

  1251. about with

  1252. their

  1253. daughters.

  1254. Make a

  1255. verbal

  1256. commitment

  1257. to the

  1258. word.

  1259. The best

  1260. Bible

  1261. teacher is

  1262. not me

  1263. for your

  1264. children.

  1265. The best

  1266. Bible teacher

  1267. for your

  1268. children is

  1269. actually not

  1270. Nathan.

  1271. I think

  1272. that he

  1273. would agree

  1274. with that.

  1275. The best

  1276. Bible teacher

  1277. for your

  1278. children is

  1279. you.

  1280. As a

  1281. parent.

  1282. You are

  1283. the best

  1284. Bible teacher.

  1285. God's called

  1286. you to do

  1287. it.

  1288. We must

  1289. make a

  1290. verbal

  1291. commitment,

  1292. but also

  1293. we must

  1294. have a

  1295. visible

  1296. commitment.

  1297. This element

  1298. is in this

  1299. passage here.

  1300. Deuteronomy

  1301. 6.

  1302. You know,

  1303. mom or dad

  1304. may not be

  1305. talking to

  1306. you right

  1307. now,

  1308. but it's

  1309. there on

  1310. your walls.

  1311. It's on

  1312. your gate.

  1313. We need

  1314. to start

  1315. stamping

  1316. things on

  1317. our forehead,

  1318. maybe stamping

  1319. scripture on

  1320. our forehead

  1321. somehow when

  1322. we go out

  1323. and walk

  1324. around.

  1325. I'm not

  1326. ruling that

  1327. out.

  1328. Maybe that's

  1329. there in

  1330. the text.

  1331. Maybe you

  1332. want to

  1333. really look at

  1334. it incredibly

  1335. literally and

  1336. actually do

  1337. that.

  1338. But I

  1339. believe what

  1340. this passage

  1341. is really

  1342. telling us

  1343. is that

  1344. the picture

  1345. is that the

  1346. word is

  1347. visible in

  1348. your home,

  1349. so visible

  1350. that it

  1351. permeates

  1352. everything that

  1353. we do.

  1354. And you

  1355. might want

  1356. to post

  1357. your memory

  1358. verse for

  1359. the week

  1360. up on

  1361. your

  1362. children's

  1363. mirrors so

  1364. that they

  1365. can see

  1366. it,

  1367. visibly

  1368. see it

  1369. in the

  1370. home.

  1371. We also

  1372. have to

  1373. make a

  1374. visible

  1375. commitment

  1376. to God's

  1377. word.

  1378. You know,

  1379. just a few

  1380. generations ago

  1381. a man was

  1382. considered

  1383. spiritually

  1384. responsible if

  1385. he did

  1386. these things.

  1387. Unfortunately

  1388. today a man

  1389. is considered

  1390. spiritually

  1391. responsible if

  1392. he sends

  1393. his children

  1394. to the most

  1395. cutting edge

  1396. youth or

  1397. children's

  1398. program.

  1399. We can

  1400. no longer

  1401. sit idly by it.

  1402. I know,

  1403. again,

  1404. I'm just

  1405. preaching to

  1406. the choir

  1407. here.

  1408. You've

  1409. chosen

  1410. Christ's

  1411. Family

  1412. Church for

  1413. a reason

  1414. and that

  1415. may be

  1416. one of the

  1417. reasons why

  1418. you've even

  1419. chosen Christ's

  1420. Family

  1421. Church because

  1422. they do

  1423. things

  1424. differently

  1425. here.

  1426. We do

  1427. things

  1428. out of

  1429. the norm

  1430. of what

  1431. the culture

  1432. is doing.

  1433. I think

  1434. that's a

  1435. biblical

  1436. approach

  1437. rather than

  1438. trying to

  1439. copy what

  1440. all the

  1441. other

  1442. churches

  1443. are doing.

  1444. It's a

  1445. more

  1446. biblical

  1447. approach.

  1448. We must

  1449. also train

  1450. our children

  1451. so that

  1452. they show

  1453. the word.

  1454. In other

  1455. words,

  1456. you impress

  1457. upon them

  1458. the word

  1459. but also

  1460. you help

  1461. them make

  1462. it come

  1463. alive in

  1464. their lives.

  1465. You help

  1466. them to put

  1467. it into

  1468. practice in

  1469. their lives.

  1470. the picture

  1471. here is

  1472. that you

  1473. keep them

  1474. within the

  1475. boundaries and

  1476. train them

  1477. to walk in

  1478. obedience and

  1479. honor to

  1480. God.

  1481. It takes

  1482. training and

  1483. it takes

  1484. discipline to

  1485. do these

  1486. things.

  1487. Studying

  1488. through Ephesians

  1489. 6 makes

  1490. you wonder

  1491. why are

  1492. families not

  1493. doing these

  1494. things in

  1495. our culture

  1496. today?

  1497. The instruction

  1498. is there.

  1499. God's told

  1500. us to do

  1501. it.

  1502. Why are we

  1503. not

  1504. worshiping

  1505. in our

  1506. homes?

  1507. Why are

  1508. we not

  1509. reading

  1510. God's

  1511. word in

  1512. our

  1513. homes?

  1514. Why are

  1515. we not

  1516. having

  1517. family

  1518. worshiped?

  1519. time.

  1520. I wonder

  1521. if maybe

  1522. it's

  1523. because we

  1524. like to

  1525. discipline

  1526. our own

  1527. lives.

  1528. Our

  1529. children

  1530. will never

  1531. be what

  1532. they cannot

  1533. see.

  1534. When you

  1535. look at

  1536. Titus 2.12

  1537. it talks

  1538. about how

  1539. God's grace

  1540. is training

  1541. us in

  1542. godliness

  1543. in such a

  1544. way that

  1545. we're able

  1546. to impart

  1547. that upon

  1548. others.

  1549. I think

  1550. from observation

  1551. the opposite

  1552. is true as

  1553. well.

  1554. You can

  1555. also train

  1556. your children

  1557. in ungodliness.

  1558. If they

  1559. see ungodliness

  1560. in your

  1561. lives,

  1562. you're

  1563. teaching

  1564. that.

  1565. You're

  1566. imparting

  1567. that upon

  1568. them as

  1569. well.

  1570. If you

  1571. don't hold

  1572. God's

  1573. word high

  1574. in regard

  1575. in the

  1576. home,

  1577. you're

  1578. teaching

  1579. your

  1580. children

  1581. that God's

  1582. word is

  1583. just not

  1584. important.

  1585. So that

  1586. means the

  1587. reality is

  1588. that husbands,

  1589. wives,

  1590. moms,

  1591. dads,

  1592. we need to

  1593. step up to

  1594. the plate.

  1595. single

  1596. people in

  1597. the room,

  1598. future

  1599. moms,

  1600. future

  1601. husbands,

  1602. future

  1603. dads,

  1604. call us

  1605. to you

  1606. too.

  1607. And the

  1608. way it

  1609. begins for

  1610. those of you

  1611. who don't

  1612. have children

  1613. is to

  1614. rally around

  1615. families in

  1616. this church

  1617. to support

  1618. them.

  1619. When a

  1620. child is

  1621. crying sitting

  1622. next to you,

  1623. you don't

  1624. roll your

  1625. eyes and

  1626. think,

  1627. oh man,

  1628. I just

  1629. can't listen

  1630. to the

  1631. sermon right

  1632. now.

  1633. I can't

  1634. figure out

  1635. what they're

  1636. saying.

  1637. You support

  1638. that family

  1639. because,

  1640. as Nathan

  1641. said earlier,

  1642. we don't

  1643. just tolerate

  1644. children,

  1645. we love

  1646. them.

  1647. Here's another

  1648. side to that.

  1649. We need to

  1650. learn,

  1651. as a faith

  1652. family,

  1653. that the

  1654. worship of

  1655. children is

  1656. important to

  1657. God.

  1658. Their worship

  1659. is important.

  1660. Which is why

  1661. we want to

  1662. include them

  1663. in corporate

  1664. worship.

  1665. I've been

  1666. in a lot

  1667. of churches

  1668. and you

  1669. may have

  1670. been in

  1671. churches

  1672. in the

  1673. past

  1674. before.

  1675. They do

  1676. this thing

  1677. where they

  1678. allow the

  1679. children to

  1680. sit in

  1681. the service

  1682. through the

  1683. music time

  1684. and then

  1685. when the

  1686. time comes

  1687. for the

  1688. preacher to

  1689. come up

  1690. to preach

  1691. God's

  1692. word,

  1693. they usher

  1694. them out

  1695. of the

  1696. service.

  1697. Now,

  1698. you might

  1699. have a

  1700. different

  1701. philosophy

  1702. than I

  1703. do,

  1704. but think

  1705. about what

  1706. that teaches

  1707. children.

  1708. It teaches

  1709. them that maybe

  1710. singing songs

  1711. is important,

  1712. but the

  1713. teaching of

  1714. God's word,

  1715. we don't have

  1716. to be involved

  1717. with that.

  1718. teaching our

  1719. children

  1720. priority is

  1721. playing games

  1722. in a nursery

  1723. rather than

  1724. being in

  1725. the teaching

  1726. of God's

  1727. word,

  1728. time where

  1729. knowledge and

  1730. encouragement

  1731. is imparted

  1732. upon you

  1733. as a faith

  1734. family.

  1735. family.

  1736. Now,

  1737. I want to

  1738. encourage you

  1739. to read the

  1740. Bible together

  1741. in your

  1742. families.

  1743. I want to

  1744. encourage you

  1745. to at least

  1746. find one

  1747. day that you

  1748. can worship

  1749. together as a

  1750. family.

  1751. Schedule it.

  1752. If you don't

  1753. schedule it,

  1754. it's not going

  1755. to happen.

  1756. I'm speaking

  1757. from experience.

  1758. At least one

  1759. day a week

  1760. that you can

  1761. worship with

  1762. your families.

  1763. So,

  1764. challenge

  1765. husbands on

  1766. the way home

  1767. today.

  1768. Schedule time

  1769. with your

  1770. wife.

  1771. This is the

  1772. time that we're

  1773. going to gather

  1774. together.

  1775. If you want

  1776. to do it

  1777. six times,

  1778. seven times a

  1779. week,

  1780. that's even

  1781. better.

  1782. But one is

  1783. better than

  1784. none,

  1785. right?

  1786. So,

  1787. I encourage

  1788. families,

  1789. figure out a

  1790. time when you

  1791. can get

  1792. together to

  1793. worship together

  1794. as a family.

  1795. The word

  1796. needs to be

  1797. taught in your

  1798. home.

  1799. You know what

  1800. else you can

  1801. do is you

  1802. can read the

  1803. word in the

  1804. morning and

  1805. every night

  1806. with your

  1807. children.

  1808. That's something

  1809. that anybody

  1810. can do.

  1811. If you need

  1812. resources to

  1813. help you do

  1814. this,

  1815. to help you

  1816. in your

  1817. family

  1818. worship

  1819. time,

  1820. I'm sure

  1821. Nathan can

  1822. provide free

  1823. resources for

  1824. you.

  1825. I know

  1826. there's some

  1827. free resources

  1828. if you're

  1829. interested.

  1830. I can share

  1831. those with

  1832. you as

  1833. well.

  1834. Let me

  1835. tell you

  1836. why this

  1837. is so

  1838. important

  1839. today.

  1840. We're

  1841. wrapping

  1842. this up.

  1843. Let me

  1844. tell you

  1845. why this

  1846. is so

  1847. important.

  1848. You go to

  1849. scores of

  1850. church

  1851. buildings

  1852. across

  1853. America

  1854. and

  1855. across

  1856. Europe

  1857. and you

  1858. see

  1859. empty

  1860. buildings.

  1861. These

  1862. church

  1863. buildings

  1864. are

  1865. empty

  1866. shelves

  1867. of what

  1868. used

  1869. to be

  1870. great

  1871. thriving

  1872. churches.

  1873. Completely

  1874. empty

  1875. today.

  1876. I shared

  1877. with you

  1878. these

  1879. statistics

  1880. for a

  1881. reason

  1882. because if

  1883. we continue

  1884. in the

  1885. same

  1886. pattern

  1887. in our

  1888. culture

  1889. today,

  1890. we're

  1891. going to

  1892. see

  1893. hundreds

  1894. if not

  1895. thousands

  1896. of empty

  1897. church

  1898. buildings.

  1899. Possibly

  1900. even other

  1901. businesses

  1902. having moved

  1903. into church

  1904. buildings

  1905. because

  1906. that

  1907. congregation

  1908. has died

  1909. away.

  1910. The

  1911. statistics

  1912. are real.

  1913. Not making

  1914. it up.

  1915. I'm not

  1916. saying the

  1917. church is

  1918. going to

  1919. disappear.

  1920. God's

  1921. word is

  1922. going to

  1923. continue

  1924. on until

  1925. the end.

  1926. His

  1927. word

  1928. proclaims

  1929. that.

  1930. His

  1931. word is

  1932. going to

  1933. carry

  1934. on all

  1935. the way

  1936. through

  1937. eternity.

  1938. There's

  1939. no question

  1940. about that.

  1941. But whether

  1942. we're

  1943. involved or

  1944. whether our

  1945. children or

  1946. our children's

  1947. children are

  1948. involved with

  1949. that has

  1950. everything to

  1951. do with how

  1952. we interact

  1953. with Ephesians

    Ephesians 6 chapter mention

  1954. chapter 6.

  1955. So we're

  1956. going to pray

  1957. right now and I

  1958. just want to

  1959. invite husbands

  1960. especially to be

  1961. leaders of

  1962. your home.

  1963. Step up to

  1964. the plate.

  1965. Wives, be

  1966. supportive of

  1967. your husband in

  1968. that role.

  1969. Help him where

  1970. he needs help.

  1971. Help teach the

  1972. children in the

  1973. home.

  1974. Children, quite

  1975. simply, obey

  1976. your parents.

  1977. Let's pray

  1978. together.

  1979. Heavenly Father,

  1980. we thank you so

  1981. much for giving

  1982. us this opportunity

  1983. to gather here as

  1984. a faith family in

  1985. this room.

  1986. We thank you,

  1987. Father, for your

  1988. word.

  1989. I pray, Father,

  1990. that it would

  1991. change our lives,

  1992. it would work in

  1993. our hearts to

  1994. transform us.

  1995. Lord, I pray for

  1996. fathers in here,

  1997. that they would be

  1998. willing to step up

  1999. to the plate.

  2000. They'd be willing

  2001. to begin to lead

  2002. their families in

  2003. spiritual formation.

  2004. They'd be willing

  2005. to read the word

  2006. in their home,

  2007. to have a verbal

  2008. commitment to your

  2009. word, to have a

  2010. visible commitment

  2011. to your word in

  2012. the home.

  2013. I pray for wives,

  2014. Father, that you

  2015. would guide them

  2016. and that you would

  2017. help them be a

  2018. support to their

  2019. husbands.

  2020. You would help

  2021. them in the

  2022. spiritual formation

  2023. of their children

  2024. as well.

  2025. And I pray that

  2026. the children would

  2027. read the benefits

  2028. of this endeavor

  2029. by these moms and

  2030. dads who are

  2031. attempting to be

  2032. the best they can

  2033. be as spiritual

  2034. leaders in their

  2035. homes.

  2036. These children

  2037. would be raised

  2038. indeed in the

  2039. admonition, the

  2040. encouragement, and

  2041. discipline of the

  2042. Lord.

  2043. And I pray,

  2044. Father, that this

  2045. church, these people

  2046. in this room this

  2047. morning, that we

  2048. would beat the

  2049. statistics, that we

  2050. wouldn't be bound

  2051. by statistics that

  2052. are overwhelmingly

  2053. true in our

  2054. country.

  2055. So, Father, help

  2056. us as we have

  2057. been challenged

  2058. this morning.

2059. Help us to rise up

  2060. to that challenge,

2061. to begin to see the

  2062. need to teach your

  2063. word in our homes.

  2064. we begin to see

  2065. the need to rally

  2066. around families who

  2067. need encouragement.

  2068. Most of all, Father,

2069. I pray that you would

  2070. be honored and

  2071. glorified in our

  2072. lives as we do

  2073. these things.

2074. I pray this all in

  2075. the name of your

  2076. Son, Jesus Christ.

  2077. Amen.
