  1. Turn to Psalm 73.

  2. So whenever I get the 5.30 a.m. text of like,

  3. Hey, I feel terrible. Can you preach this morning?

  4. It's always an awesome reminder that any good that happens is not ever based on the amount of preparation I have.

  5. It's like God kind of takes that from you.

  6. You just have very little time.

  7. So anything that does happen is just evidence of His grace.

  8. And I was thinking, I don't know where Wes went, but I'm thankful that I've lived long enough to actually see how my hair,

  9. old enough to see my hair actually go.

  10. That's where Wes remains forever young and can't grow facial hair.

  11. So I'm going to trade off.

  12. So girls, you don't know this, but guys can kind of do that to each other and still be like, cool.

  13. So it's all right.

  14. But we're going to turn to Psalm 73 today.

  15. But before we do, let's just join in a word of prayer.

  16. Father,

  17. Father,

  18. we submit ourselves to you this morning,

  19. to the work of your Holy Spirit that dwells in us.

  20. that this is not,

  21. this building is not a temple.

  22. This building is not a house of God.

  23. It is your people that you abide with,

  24. the people that you have put your spirit in.

  25. So I pray that He would stir in us today,

  26. open our eyes,

  27. convict us of sin,

  28. and remind us of the possession that we have in you.

  29. And so Lord,

  30. just help me to be able to honor you with my words.

  31. And the rest of this service may be an act of worship towards you in Christ's name.

  32. Amen.

  33. So Psalm 73,

  34. one of my,

  35. one of my favorite Psalms,

  36. but just a little preface for some of this.

  37. But the book of Psalms is probably one that I turn to probably every,

  38. I don't know,

  39. one out of every three times I open the word,

  40. I go to Psalms.

  41. So I,

  42. I think a long time ago in the 1500s,

  43. I think rightfully John Calvin called the Psalms,

  44. he said,

  45. they are the anatomy of the soul,

  46. meaning that the Psalms expose like all that we are in our soul.

  47. It exposes like our,

  48. the heights of joy and happiness,

  49. as well as like the depths of like depression and despair.

  50. And a lot of the times,

  51. like we can just be very dogmatic and very stoic about our faith,

  52. but the Psalms are a very real book that exposes how we feel

  53. and how our emotions play into the Christian life.

  54. And so this is a Psalm very much like that.

  55. So Psalm 73 is not a Psalm of David,

  56. it's a Psalm of Asaph,

  57. who is probably David's chief musician.

  58. So let's read through it together.

  59. We won't have time to unpack every single thing,

  60. but we'll be able to get an overview.

  61. So,

  62. um,

  63. Hmm.

  64. I'm thinking that before we read this,

  65. I'm going to give you an intro.

  66. Sorry.

  67. Um,

  68. I know that the vast majority of the people in here are people who have tasted the goodness of God,

  69. people who have encountered Christ,

  70. people who have embraced salvation in Christ.

  71. Um,

  72. but at the same time,

  73. life can be extremely difficult.

  74. Becoming a follower of Christ doesn't like free us from the trials of this world.

  75. It doesn't.

  76. And often,

  77. even as children of God,

  78. we can find that our dreams,

  79. our hopes,

  80. um,

  81. our aspirations can be like shattered to pieces over and over and over throughout our life.

  82. Even as children of God,

  83. um,

  84. you may have like a job or a career that you were hoping would go well and you didn't get the job or you lost the job.

  85. Uh,

  86. a sickness or a disease could come upon you and totally destroy like a lot of the plans that you had for your life.

  87. A sports team that you didn't make the cut for.

  88. A relationship that you hoped would work out and might lead towards marriage.

  89. Didn't work out.

  90. Um,

  91. so many things you,

  92. uh,

  93. a friend or a family member could die and you're caught off guard.

  94. And in those moments,

  95. you're,

  96. you're asking what,

  97. where are you God?

  98. Like what is happening right now?

  99. And I've experienced most of the things I've just mentioned to you in my own life.

  100. So what are your disappointments?

  101. Like where have you invested your time or your emotion into something in order to see something else happen?

  102. What are them like shattered dreams and hopes that you had good shattered dreams,

  103. good hopes that you had.

  104. So for this answer,

  105. we turn to the ancient writer to get it.

  106. Psalm 73.

  107. Let's read together.

  108. Let's hear God's word.

  109. Truly.

  110. God is good to Israel,

  111. to those who are pure in heart.

  112. But as for me,

  113. my feet had almost stumbled.

  114. My steps had nearly slipped.

  115. For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

  116. For they have no pains until death.

  117. Their bodies are fat and sleek.

  118. They are not in trouble as others are.

  119. They are not stricken like the rest of mankind.

  120. Therefore,

  121. pride is their necklace.

  122. Violence covers them as a garment.

  123. Their eyes swell out through fatness.

  124. Their hearts overflow with follies.

  125. They scoff and speak with malice.

  126. Loftily,

  127. they threaten oppression.

  128. They set their mouths against the heavens,

  129. and their tongues struts throughout the earth.

  130. Therefore,

  131. his people turn back to them and find no fault in them.

  132. And they say,

  133. how can God know?

  134. Is there any knowledge in the Most High?

  135. Behold,

  136. these are the wicked,

  137. always at ease.

  138. They increase in riches.

  139. All in vain I have kept my heart clean,

  140. and washed my hands in innocence.

  141. For all the day long,

  142. I have been stricken and rebuked every morning.

  143. If I had said,

  144. I will speak thus,

  145. I would have betrayed the generation of your children.

  146. But when I thought how to understand this,

  147. it seemed to me a worrisome task.

  148. Until I went into the sanctuary of God,

  149. then I discerned their end.

  150. Truly,

  151. you set them in slippery places.

  152. You make them fall to ruin.

  153. How they are destroyed in a moment,

  154. swept utterly by terrors.

  155. Like a dream in one that wakes.

  156. Oh Lord,

  157. when you rouse yourself,

  158. you despise them as phantoms.

  159. When my soul was embittered,

  160. when I was pricked in heart,

  161. I was brutish and ignorant.

  162. I was like a beast towards you.

  163. Nevertheless,

  164. I am continually with you.

  165. you hold my right hand.

  166. You hold my right hand.

  167. You guide me with your counsel,

  168. and afterwards,

  169. you will receive me to glory.

  170. Whom have I in heaven but you?

  171. And there is nothing on the earth that I desire besides you.

  172. My flesh and my heart may fail.

  173. But God is the strength in my heart and my portion forever.

  174. For behold,

  175. those who are far from you shall perish.

  176. You will put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you.

  177. But for me,

  178. it is good to be near God.

  179. I have made the Lord God my refuge,

  180. that I may tell of all your works.

  181. Amen.

  182. So,

  183. as I like to do a lot of the time,

  184. we are going to walk through the psalm

  185. just by answering some questions

  186. that will help us draw out the meaning of this

  187. and help us kind of answer what I was speaking of earlier

  188. when you feel like all hope has been lost.

  189. So number one,

  190. the first question,

  191. is what is the theme of the psalm?

  192. What is the theme?

  193. You see this very clearly.

  194. In verse one,

  195. truly God is good to Israel,

  196. to those who are pure in heart.

  197. So he kind of stops himself and he said,

  198. before I go any further,

  199. let me just tell you that I'm,

  200. the whole point of what I'm about to write

  201. is to tell you that God is good.

  202. He is good.

  203. And why is that so important?

  204. Why is that so important for him to do that?

  205. Because when things aren't going well around you

  206. and everything is falling apart,

  207. we are tempted to doubt the goodness and sovereignty of God.

  208. That's why.

  209. When things are not going your way,

  210. you're tempted to forget that.

  211. That God is good

  212. and that God is in control,

  213. that he is sovereign.

  214. So God doesn't just do good most of the time

  215. or some of the time.

  216. God,

  217. by his very nature,

  218. is the definition of good.

  219. So it's not just that he does good,

  220. it's that he is good

  221. and that his actions overflow from his character.

  222. So God will always,

  223. right,

  224. God will always,

  225. during seasons of our lives,

  226. he will always remain good to us

  227. no matter what you are going through.

  228. Psalm 119 says this,

  229. God,

  230. you are good

  231. and you do good.

  232. And this is the truth.

  233. God is good to those

  234. who have humbled themselves

  235. and have come to Christ

  236. and who have thrown themselves at his mercy,

  237. who have received his salvation.

  238. He is good to them,

  239. those who have been made pure by his blood,

  240. right,

  241. those who are pure in heart.

  242. So God is good.

  243. That is the theme of this psalm.

  244. And that he works all things for the good

  245. of those who love him

  246. and are called according to his purpose.

  247. That's a promise.

  248. So it's not like

  249. sometimes God will be good to you

  250. if you belong to him.

  251. It's that he only will be good to you.

  252. Only will be good to you

  253. if you belong to him.

  254. Yet,

  255. yet though,

  256. even though God has proven himself to us

  257. a million times over,

  258. right,

  259. he has proved that he is good to us.

  260. We still are tempted to doubt.

  261. We are still tempted

  262. to just say,

  263. like,

  264. I think just in this case

  265. you might have made the wrong decision.

  266. I feel that

  267. you can't be trusted in this moment.

  268. So,

  269. all those things,

  270. like Satan,

  271. the world,

  272. and our own sin

  273. and our own lives

  274. blind us from the goodness of God

  275. so often.

  276. So Asaph is saying,

  277. like,

  278. before I tell you why,

  279. I'm going to just begin by telling you

  280. that God is good.

  281. That he is good to those

  282. who are pure in heart,

  283. those who have been washed by

  284. the blood of Christ

  285. in this case.

  286. Yet,

  287. he kind of says,

  288. if you look

  289. at the first verse,

  290. he says,

  291. he states that his feet

  292. had almost stumbled,

  293. his steps had nearly slipped

  294. from this path.

  295. So,

  296. ultimately,

  297. that's the goal

  298. from this psalm

  299. is for us to

  300. treasure God

  301. and to embrace

  302. his goodness.

  303. So,

  304. that's number one.

  305. Number two,

  306. second question.

  307. What caused

  308. the psalmist

  309. to be envious?

  310. So,

  311. what's causing him

  312. to be envious?

  313. What caused the psalmist

  314. to be envious?

  315. You see this in verse 2

  316. and verse 3.

  317. But as for me,

  318. my feet had almost stumbled,

  319. my steps had nearly slipped,

  320. for I was envious

  321. of the arrogant

  322. when I saw

  323. the prosperity

  324. of the wicked.

  325. He's envious.

  326. He confesses

  327. that

  328. as he's looked

  329. around the world

  330. around him

  331. in the fallen world,

  332. he looks at the people

  333. who don't know God,

  334. the people who hate God,

  335. and life just seems

  336. to be going great

  337. for them.

  338. But he,

  339. a follower,

  340. a believer,

  341. things are not going

  342. so well for him.

  343. So,

  344. he's being tempted

  345. to say,

  346. where are you?

  347. Like,

  348. why is this happening?

  349. Why are the people

  350. who hate you,

  351. why are they always

  352. doing good?

  353. And why are the people

  354. who trust you

  355. and love you

  356. always just apparently

  357. things not going good?

  358. He says in verse 4,

  359. for they have no pangs

  360. until death

  361. and their bodies

  362. are fat and sleek.

  363. So,

  364. like,

  365. it seems like

  366. a lot of them

  367. just go through life

  368. carefree,

  369. painfree,

  370. that they're happy

  371. all the time,

  372. they enjoy

  373. just their wealth

  374. and their prosperity.

  375. Fatness,

  376. back in this time,

  377. meant that you were wealthy

  378. because,

  379. like,

  380. chances are

  381. if you were,

  382. if you were a little

  383. obese,

  384. it's because

  385. you were wealthy

  386. and could afford

  387. to eat a lot.

  388. And so,

  389. it was a sign,

  390. a symbol

  391. of being wealthy.

  392. And so,

  393. he's like,

  394. they're,

  395. they're always

  396. that way.

  397. Verse 5,

  398. they are not in trouble

  399. as others are.

  400. They're not stricken

  401. like the rest of mankind.

  402. So,

  403. it seems that they don't

  404. even,

  405. like,

  406. get to experience

  407. fierce trials

  408. in their life.

  409. the opposite of what he thinks

  410. he is going through.

  411. So,

  412. you ever felt that way?

  413. You ever just thought,

  414. man,

  415. I'm a follower of Christ.

  416. I've,

  417. I've given my life to him,

  418. but I look around

  419. and everything around me

  420. seems to be going wrong

  421. all the time.

  422. But then you look around

  423. at people who don't know God

  424. and they seem to be

  425. just doing just fine

  426. with no problems

  427. at all.

  428. So,

  429. so the question

  430. is not an unusual question

  431. in the Bible.

  432. And look,

  433. okay,

  434. here's the deal.

  435. It's not wrong for you

  436. or for me

  437. to ask that question.

  438. I'm going to tell you that.

  439. But the attitude

  440. and the posture

  441. you have towards God

  442. really matters

  443. in this case.

  444. if you're coming to him

  445. being like,

  446. how dare you?

  447. You owe me an explanation.

  448. Like,

  449. this isn't fair.

  450. And you come to him

  451. with more of like a,

  452. a proud attitude.

  453. That's wrong.

  454. But if you genuinely

  455. come to him

  456. broken and humbled

  457. and you just ask,

  458. I'm confused.

  459. Help me understand.

  460. I feel like

  461. something's just not right,

  462. but I know

  463. that you have taught me

  464. that you are good.

  465. So help me understand.

  466. So,

  467. very common question.

  468. Why does the things

  469. always work out

  470. for people

  471. who don't care about God

  472. and why do we

  473. always struggle?

  474. Job asks

  475. the same question.

  476. I have some references

  477. to Job today.

  478. You don't have to turn

  479. there right now,

  480. but in Job 21,

    Job 21:7

  481. verse 7,

  482. this is what Job says.

  483. Why do the wicked live,

  484. reach old age,

  485. and grow mighty in power?

  486. Their offspring

  487. are established

  488. in their presence

  489. and their descendants

  490. before their eyes.

  491. Their houses

  492. are made safe

  493. from fear

  494. and no rod of God

  495. is upon them.

  496. They spend their days

  497. in prosperity

  498. and in peace

  499. they go down

  500. to Sheol.

  501. So,

  502. to make it worse,

  503. right,

  504. the unbelievers

  505. are even arrogant

  506. about how well

  507. they're doing.

  508. Look at what

  509. my own strength,

  510. look at what

  511. my own,

  512. you know,

  513. money and my own

  514. ability

  515. has got for me.

  516. so they're arrogant

  517. even about

  518. the wealth

  519. that they do possess,

  520. right?

  521. That they got all that

  522. by the strength

  523. of their own labor.

  524. So,

  525. instead of thanking God,

  526. who is the giver

  527. of all good things,

  528. they boast about it.

  529. And not just that,

  530. but they even,

  531. like,

  532. taunt God,

  533. right?

  534. We don't need you.

  535. Look at verse 9.

  536. They set their mouths

  537. against the heavens

  538. and their tongues

  539. strut throughout the earth.

  540. Therefore,

  541. His people will turn

  542. back to them

  543. and find no fault

  544. in them.

  545. And they say,

  546. how can God know?

  547. Is there knowledge

  548. in the Most High?

  549. Verse 10

  550. is kind of an unusual

  551. verse,

  552. but the literal

  553. means,

  554. like,

  555. the waters

  556. of a full cup

  557. have been drained

  558. out completely

  559. by the wicked.

  560. So,

  561. this idea of

  562. they seem

  563. to be satisfied,

  564. and,

  565. so they're taunting God

  566. as if their own hand

  567. has prospered them

  568. in a very arrogant

  569. fashion.

  570. So,

  571. they mock

  572. and they despise God.

  573. So,

  574. hear me,

  575. like,

  576. any success

  577. that you have at all

  578. is not because

  579. you are smart.

  580. It is not because

  581. you have done

  582. everything right.

  583. God can blow on that

  584. and it can fall

  585. to pieces.

  586. So,

  587. if you begin

  588. your life

  589. in arrogance,

  590. kind of saying

  591. that my own hand

  592. my own ability

  593. to do business,

  594. my own ability

  595. to perform,

  596. whatever,

  597. if you boast of that,

  598. then God is

  599. not going to bless you.

  600. It says,

  601. he opposes the proud,

  602. but he gives grace

  603. to the humble.

  604. We have nothing

  605. to boast about.

  606. Like I said

  607. last week,

  608. nothing at all.

  609. So,

  610. so they taunt God

  611. as if they're even

  612. calling him a coward.

  613. Like,

  614. you know,

  615. you're a pushover.

  616. We can do all this

  617. on our own.

  618. We don't need you

  619. to exist.

  620. So,

  621. what happens?

  622. So,

  623. what is Asaph?

  624. He's looking at this

  625. and what is the result

  626. of him looking at

  627. and envying the wicked?

  628. Alright?

  629. Jealousy and envy

  630. never help.

  631. They're serious.

  632. That's why God said

  633. you shall not covet.

  634. So,

  635. what does that reveal

  636. about him?

  637. You see that

  638. in verses 13

  639. through 15?

  640. And you see that

  641. the fruit of this

  642. bitter discontent

  643. is the fruit of envy

  644. will be discontentment

  645. and depression.

  646. If you are envious

  647. of someone,

  648. if you are jealous,

  649. that will be

  650. the result.

  651. You will be

  652. never satisfied.

  653. You will be discontent

  654. and often it can lead

  655. to just very

  656. low depths

  657. of depression.

  658. If you are jealous

  659. of someone,

  660. right,

  661. it never pays off.

  662. So,

  663. look at 15,

  664. or excuse me,

  665. verse 13.

  666. Look at verse 13.

  667. He says,

  668. so he's looking at this

  669. and this is what he says,

  670. all in vain

  671. I have kept my heart clean

  672. and washed my hands

  673. in innocence.

  674. So,

  675. when we envy others,

  676. particularly the life

  677. of unbelievers,

  678. we're tempted to think,

  679. why am I doing all this?

  680. Like,

  681. I've kept myself

  682. pure before God.

  683. I've like,

  684. said no to temptation.

  685. I've lost

  686. for the sake of Christ.

  687. Like,

  688. is all this just worthless?

  689. Like,

  690. what is the point?

  691. All in vain

  692. I've done this.

  693. Look how wicked

  694. they behave

  695. and they have

  696. everything I want.

  697. You ever felt that way?

  698. Is it worth it?

  699. It never pays off.

  700. All I do

  701. is try to honor you,

  702. God,

  703. and right now

  704. I feel like

  705. it's not paying off.

  706. I feel like

  707. I'm getting nothing

  708. and they get everything.

  709. So,

  710. these things

  711. just don't ever

  712. go away from us.

  713. We pay a price

  714. for following God.

  715. So,

  716. have you ever thought that?

  717. Why have I fought

  718. so hard for this

  719. when everybody around me

  720. just seems to get it

  721. without any problem at all?

  722. All in vain

  723. I've kept myself clean.

  724. Spurgeon says this

  725. about this verse.

  726. He says,

  727. he questions

  728. the value

  729. of holiness

  730. when its wages

  731. are not paid.

  732. He says,

  733. the pure

  734. may have seen

  735. to have cleansed

  736. themselves altogether

  737. in vain,

  738. but

  739. we must not judge

  740. after the sight

  741. of the eyes.

  742. Like,

  743. it may feel that way,

  744. but he's saying

  745. don't just believe

  746. what you see.

  747. Alright?

  748. That's important.

  749. Don't just believe

  750. what you see.

  751. Which leads

  752. to the next question.

  753. Number three.

  754. what caused

  755. the psalmist's

  756. attitude to shift?

  757. So,

  758. that's what he was thinking.

  759. He was being,

  760. he was feeling envious,

  761. he was feeling jealous.

  762. What caused him

  763. to shift?

  764. You see this

  765. in

  766. verses 15

  767. through 19.

  768. He says,

  769. he stops himself,

  770. and he says,

  771. if I had said,

  772. I will speak thus,

  773. I would have betrayed

  774. the generation

  775. of your children.

  776. But when I thought

  777. of how to understand this,

  778. it seemed to me

  779. a wearisome task.

  780. So,

  781. it wore him out.

  782. Like,

  783. trying to process

  784. all this,

  785. just like,

  786. exhausted him.

  787. It seemed to me

  788. a wearisome task

  789. until

  790. I went

  791. to the sanctuary

  792. of God,

  793. and then

  794. I discerned

  795. therein.

  796. Truly,

  797. you set them

  798. in slippery places.

  799. You make them

  800. fall to ruin.

  801. How they are

  802. destroyed in a moment,

  803. swept away

  804. utterly by terrors.

  805. Like a dream

  806. when one awakes,

  807. O Lord,

  808. you rouse yourself.

  809. You despise them

  810. as phantoms.

  811. So,

  812. the point here

  813. is be slow

  814. to judge God.

  815. Right?

  816. Be very slow.

  817. He says,

  818. it's not always

  819. wise

  820. for you

  821. to just start

  822. speaking about

  823. how you feel.

  824. Hear that?

  825. It's not always

  826. wise

  827. for you

  828. just to start

  829. talking about

  830. how you feel.

  831. And the reason

  832. why is

  833. because

  834. you're an heir

  835. and like,

  836. if you're wrong,

  837. you're in danger

  838. of risking

  839. the faith of others.

  840. That's what he says.

  841. So,

  842. example,

  843. like,

  844. younger believers,

  845. people who are new

  846. in the faith,

  847. or even children,

  848. how you respond

  849. to trials,

  850. if you respond

  851. to that

  852. with like,

  853. anger,

  854. discontentment,

  855. bitterness,

  856. when something

  857. happens like that

  858. in their life,

  859. they're gonna,

  860. it's very likely

  861. they will respond

  862. to God

  863. the same way.

  864. And he's saying,

  865. like,

  866. I'm glad

  867. I didn't say that

  868. because

  869. if I had,

  870. I would have

  871. betrayed a whole

  872. generation.

  873. Right?

  874. I'm glad

  875. that I didn't,

  876. I'm glad

  877. that I waited

  878. upon the Lord

  879. to reveal

  880. this to me.

  881. So,

  882. when God

  883. puts you

  884. through trials,

  885. it's not always

  886. just for your

  887. sake,

  888. it's for the

  889. sake of others

  890. too.

  891. This is something

  892. Job said,

  893. again,

  894. Job 40,

    Job 40:6

  895. verse 6,

  896. he says,

  897. then the Lord

  898. answered Job

  899. out of the whirlwind.

  900. So,

  901. sorry,

  902. let me back up.

  903. So,

  904. Job

  905. has been suffering,

  906. going through

  907. so many trials,

  908. losing everything,

  909. but the whole time

  910. he's maintaining

  911. a trust

  912. in God.

  913. very little

  914. though.

  915. He's barely

  916. hanging on,

  917. it feels like,

  918. and he's asking

  919. God,

  920. why?

  921. Why is this

  922. happening to me?

  923. Why?

  924. And then eventually,

  925. and later on

  926. in the book of Job,

  927. God shows up

  928. and he answers Job.

  929. This is why.

  930. So,

  931. verse,

  932. chapter 40,

  933. verse 6,

  934. the Lord answered Job

  935. out of a whirlwind

  936. and said,

  937. dress for action

  938. like a man.

  939. I will question you

  940. and you will make

  941. it known to me.

  942. Will you even

  943. put me in the wrong?

  944. Will you condemn me

  945. that you may be right?

  946. Have you an arm

  947. like God?

  948. And can you thunder

  949. with a voice

  950. like this?

  951. Adorn yourself

  952. with majesty

  953. and dignity

  954. and clothe yourself

  955. with glory

  956. and splendor?

  957. So,

  958. basically,

  959. he kind of pops out

  960. and is like,

  961. you've been questioning me,

  962. now I'm going to question you.

  963. Prepare yourself.

  964. Basically,

  965. who are you,

  966. you little man,

  967. you sinful,

  968. broken man?

  969. Like,

  970. who are you

  971. to judge me

  972. the most high?

  973. We do that.

  974. So,

  975. again,

  976. we have to be careful.

  977. Don't judge God

  978. too quickly

  979. at all.

  980. Wait for Him.

  981. Be patient.

  982. Wait for Him

  983. to reveal

  984. what is going on.

  985. So,

  986. I will tell you this,

  987. though.

  988. God doesn't promise

  989. in this life

  990. to always tell you

  991. exactly why

  992. you went through

  993. what you went through.

  994. Sometimes He does.

  995. Sometimes He gives you

  996. a moment like Joseph

  997. in Genesis

  998. where he suffered

  999. and suffered

  1000. for 13 years

1001. and then all of a sudden

  1002. like He sees

  1003. His brothers

  1004. below Him

  1005. and like goes,

  1006. ah.

  1007. This is what

  1008. all this was for.

  1009. Sometimes He does,

  1010. but sometimes

1011. you may have to wait

  1012. until glory

  1013. to know the purpose.

  1014. So,

  1015. be careful.

  1016. Be careful,

  1017. especially those

  1018. who are younger

  1019. in the faith.

  1020. They will watch

1021. how you go through trials.

  1022. They watch.

1023. Because if all you're doing

  1024. is this,

1025. it won't go real far.

1026. If you can quote theology

  1027. and quote theologians

  1028. and quote Bible verses

1029. and that's all you got,

  1030. like,

  1031. you will suffer

  1032. in this life

  1033. and when that happens,

1034. you're not going to stand.

  1035. So,

1036. we have to be building,

1037. asking God to build us

  1038. and prepare us

1039. for this kind of stuff

1040. because it's going to come.

  1041. So,

  1042. so here's His conclusion,

  1043. right?

  1044. He's like,

  1045. I'm glad I didn't do this.

  1046. Here's why.

  1047. Now let's really look

  1048. at the state

  1049. of the wicked.

  1050. He says,

  1051. I felt bitter.

  1052. I felt depressed

  1053. until I went

  1054. to the sanctuary

  1055. of God.

  1056. So basically,

  1057. he went

  1058. to worship.

1059. He went to worship God

  1060. and during that encounter,

1061. he chose to worship God

  1062. instead of cursing God

  1063. and it changed him.

1064. It changed how he thought,

  1065. right?

1066. So as he worshiped God,

  1067. his nearsightedness

  1068. kind of vanished

  1069. and God gave him

  1070. a fuller picture

  1071. of what really

  1072. was going on,

  1073. right?

  1074. So here's two things

  1075. about the wicked,

  1076. all right,

  1077. about their apparent ease

  1078. that they have

  1079. that it's not real.

  1080. So when you're envious,

  1081. you're looking at people

  1082. around you

  1083. who don't know God

  1084. and life's going great,

  1085. just think about

  1086. these two things.

  1087. One is,

  1088. their apparent joy

  1089. is not real.

  1090. It's not real.

  1091. God chooses

  1092. sometimes

  1093. to bless

  1094. even people

  1095. who hate him

1096. out of his own goodness.

  1097. We never do that.

  1098. He does.

  1099. Jesus said

  1100. in Luke 6,

    Luke 6:35

  1101. verse 35,

  1102. he says,

  1103. love your enemies

  1104. because God

  1105. does.

  1106. He says,

  1107. love your enemies

  1108. and do good

  1109. to them.

  1110. Lend,

  1111. expecting nothing

  1112. in return

  1113. and your reward

  1114. will be great

  1115. for you'll be

1116. sons of the most high.

  1117. Listen to this,

  1118. for God

  1119. is kind

  1120. to the ungrateful

  1121. and the evil.

  1122. So,

  1123. even their

  1124. apparent prosperity

  1125. is like just God

  1126. being kind to them.

  1127. Like,

  1128. can you imagine

  1129. feeding your enemies?

  1130. Can you imagine

  1131. giving gifts

  1132. to your enemies?

  1133. That's like

  1134. a display

  1135. of God's grace

  1136. called common grace

  1137. in theological circles.

  1138. However,

  1139. right,

  1140. despite they may

  1141. have a big house,

  1142. they may have

  1143. a ton of cars,

  1144. they may have

  1145. a lot of money

  1146. in the bank,

  1147. they may have

  1148. a big retirement

  1149. laid up,

  1150. wearing the best

  1151. clothes,

  1152. it's nothing.

  1153. It's nothing.

  1154. Don't buy that.

  1155. It doesn't mean

  1156. anything.

  1157. God can blow it

  1158. away and it's gone.

  1159. Like,

  1160. if you don't

  1161. possess Christ,

  1162. you have nothing.

  1163. As the old

  1164. saying goes,

  1165. everything

  1166. minus Christ

  1167. equals nothing.

  1168. Right?

  1169. Everything minus Christ

  1170. equals nothing.

  1171. But Christ

  1172. minus everything

  1173. equals everything.

  1174. We possess

  1175. everything in Christ.

  1176. Solomon said,

  1177. more than likely

  1178. Solomon,

  1179. Ecclesiastes

    Ecclesiastes 1:14

  1180. chapter 1

  1181. verse 14,

  1182. I have seen

  1183. everything that is

  1184. done under the sun.

  1185. I've done it all.

  1186. And behold,

  1187. all is vanity

  1188. and a striving

  1189. after the wind.

  1190. It doesn't

  1191. satisfy.

  1192. So people who

  1193. really don't

  1194. have Christ,

  1195. it's not real.

  1196. They'll experience

  1197. pain, sorrow,

  1198. disappointment.

  1199. The joy of the

  1200. wicked is only

  1201. a mirage.

  1202. It's an illusion.

  1203. It's not real.

  1204. So,

  1205. don't buy the lie.

  1206. Right?

  1207. If you just saw

  1208. their outward condition,

1209. you can't see their heart

  1210. and what's really

  1211. going on.

  1212. So,

  1213. secondly,

1214. the joy of the wicked

  1215. is short-lived.

  1216. It's short-lived.

  1217. Hebrews 11 says,

  1218. they call sin

  1219. the fleeting

  1220. pleasures of sin.

  1221. So,

  1222. the joy they have

  1223. temporarily

  1224. is gone.

  1225. Like,

  1226. they may,

1227. they have to go back

  1228. and back

  1229. and back

  1230. and back again

  1231. to even get

  1232. some satisfaction.

  1233. They don't have

  1234. Christ who is

  1235. eternally satisfying.

  1236. And so,

  1237. those are the two

  1238. reasons.

  1239. It's not real

  1240. and it's short-lived.

  1241. Like,

  1242. their prosperity

  1243. and the joy

  1244. that they have.

  1245. And then,

  1246. moving in,

  1247. what else

  1248. convinced him

  1249. of this?

  1250. He saw

  1251. their judgment.

  1252. He saw

  1253. their end.

  1254. Right?

  1255. Look at that

  1256. in verse 18.

  1257. Truly you set them

  1258. in slippery places.

  1259. You make them

  1260. all fall

  1261. to ruin.

  1262. How they are

  1263. destroyed in a moment,

  1264. that swept away

  1265. utterly by terrors.

  1266. So,

  1267. they're boasting.

  1268. They're arrogant

  1269. about what they have.

  1270. And he's saying

  1271. that one day,

1272. God will blow on that

  1273. and we'll be gone.

  1274. And they'll be

  1275. woken up

  1276. as if waking up

  1277. from a dream.

  1278. It'll be terrorizing

  1279. to them.

  1280. It will scare them.

  1281. Like nightmares,

  1282. it kind of says.

  1283. For he says

  1284. in verse 27,

  1285. all those

1286. who are far from you

  1287. shall perish.

  1288. So really,

  1289. he just understood

  1290. this idea

  1291. that if they don't

  1292. have God,

  1293. they have nothing.

  1294. And their apparent

  1295. joy will be brought

  1296. to ruin one day

  1297. when God judges them.

  1298. Scripture is very

  1299. clear about this,

  1300. guys.

  1301. Hopefully,

  1302. most of you

  1303. in this room

  1304. out of believe

  1305. know Christ,

  1306. but I know

  1307. that there's so many

  1308. of you out there

  1309. who don't.

  1310. And you're probably

  1311. fooling yourself.

  1312. You think that

  1313. you can do

  1314. certain things

  1315. and God

  1316. not know about it.

  1317. Not okay.

  1318. The day of judgment

  1319. will come.

  1320. Zephaniah,

    Zephaniah 1:14

  1321. chapter 1,

  1322. verse 14,

  1323. is a prophecy

  1324. about

  1325. the final judgment

  1326. and the return

  1327. of Christ.

  1328. It's called

1329. the day of the Lord

1330. a lot of the times

  1331. in the Old Testament.

  1332. And it very much

  1333. parallels

  1334. what we see

  1335. in the New Testament

  1336. from what Jesus said

1337. and from what John said

  1338. in Revelation.

1339. The same kind of stuff.

  1340. But

1341. I just want to read it.

  1342. Just a few verses

  1343. of it.

  1344. Not to scare you.

  1345. Well, maybe

  1346. if that's what

  1347. God's intent is.

  1348. But wake up.

  1349. If you're without Christ

  1350. today,

  1351. you have nothing.

  1352. But Zephaniah,

    Zephaniah 1:14

  1353. chapter 1,

  1354. verse 14,

  1355. it says,

  1356. the great day

  1357. of the Lord

  1358. is near,

  1359. near and hastening fast.

  1360. A sound

  1361. of the day

  1362. of the Lord

  1363. is bitter.

  1364. The mighty man

  1365. cries aloud.

  1366. A day of wrath

  1367. is that day.

  1368. A day of distress

  1369. and anguish.

  1370. A day of ruin

  1371. and devastation.

  1372. Of darkness

  1373. and gloom.

  1374. A day of clouds

  1375. and thick darkness.

  1376. And this is what

  1377. God says,

  1378. I will bring

  1379. distress

  1380. on mankind

  1381. so that they

  1382. shall walk

  1383. like the blind

  1384. because they

  1385. have sinned

  1386. against the Lord.

  1387. Their blood

  1388. shall be poured

  1389. out like dust

  1390. and their flesh

  1391. like dung.

  1392. Neither their silver

  1393. nor their gold

  1394. will be able

  1395. to save them.

  1396. So your wealth

  1397. will not save you

  1398. from this day.

  1399. Scary.

  1400. The fire

  1401. of his jealousy.

  1402. All the earth

  1403. shall be consumed

  1404. for a full

  1405. and sudden end

  1406. he will make

  1407. to all the inhabitants

  1408. of the earth.

  1409. That's what awaits

  1410. the wicked.

  1411. That's what awaits

  1412. people who are

  1413. think that they're

  1414. doing very well

  1415. right now

  1416. but without Christ

  1417. they possess nothing.

  1418. And he understands

  1419. that.

  1420. They don't have anything.

1421. If they don't have Christ

  1422. they don't have anything.

  1423. So that he

  1424. that clicks

  1425. like he realizes

  1426. that it's not real.

  1427. So

  1428. so that's his conclusion.

  1429. He shifts

  1430. he shifts

  1431. his thought.

  1432. And this goes on

  1433. to our

  1434. last question.

  1435. What is the

  1436. psalmist's conclusion?

  1437. What is the

  1438. psalmist's conclusion?

  1439. See that?

  1440. Verse 21

  1441. through 28.

  1442. I won't read

  1443. all of this

  1444. right away

  1445. but

  1446. he says

  1447. let's pick a few

  1448. verses here.

  1449. He says

  1450. nevertheless

  1451. I am continually

  1452. with you.

1453. you hold my right hand

  1454. you guide me

  1455. with your counsel

  1456. and afterwards

  1457. you receive me

  1458. to glory.

  1459. Right?

  1460. So

  1461. what he does

  1462. is he like

  1463. repents

  1464. of his jealous

  1465. covetous attitude.

  1466. Right?

  1467. You see that

  1468. in verse 15

  1469. or excuse me

  1470. verse 21

  1471. he says

  1472. I was angry

  1473. I was bitter

  1474. against you.

  1475. I was like a brute

  1476. before you.

  1477. The term brute

  1478. in the Hebrew here

  1479. is pretty cool.

  1480. It basically means

  1481. like

  1482. you're acting

  1483. like someone

  1484. who has never

  1485. been touched

  1486. by the grace

  1487. of God.

  1488. That's like

  1489. what it

  1490. reads.

  1491. He's saying

  1492. I was acting

  1493. that way.

  1494. I was envious.

  1495. Jesus said

  1496. in Luke 12

  1497. take care

1498. and be on your guard

  1499. against all types

  1500. of covetousness

  1501. for one's life

  1502. does not consist

  1503. in the abundance

  1504. of his possessions.

  1505. Right?

  1506. They don't have

  1507. anything.

  1508. So never judge

  1509. God's love

  1510. based on

  1511. whether or not

  1512. he grants you

  1513. something

  1514. you want.

  1515. That's it.

  1516. Don't judge

  1517. God's love

  1518. based on

  1519. if he grants

  1520. you something

  1521. or he doesn't.

  1522. So

  1523. Spurgeon

  1524. again

  1525. he says

  1526. if earthly goods

  1527. were of much value

  1528. then why

  1529. does the Lord

  1530. give such a large

  1531. measure of them

1532. to those who hate him.

  1533. True.

1534. It is a pitiful thing.

  1535. Here's a

1536. man this is so convicting.

  1537. He says

1538. it is a pitiful thing

  1539. that an heir

  1540. of heaven

  1541. should ever

  1542. have to confess

  1543. I was envious.

  1544. When we possess

  1545. all in Christ

  1546. there's no grounds

1547. for us to feel that way.

  1548. So

  1549. turn to this

  1550. please

  1551. hold your hand

  1552. in Psalm 73

1553. but look at Job 42.

  1554. Job 42.

  1555. An heir

  1556. of heaven

  1557. should never

  1558. have to confess

  1559. that they were

  1560. envious.

  1561. Job 42

    Job 42:1

  1562. verse 1.

  1563. So

  1564. after Job

  1565. had been

  1566. disciplined

  1567. in a way

  1568. by God

  1569. God had

  1570. answered him

  1571. right

  1572. and his answer

  1573. is basically

  1574. I'm God

  1575. who are you

  1576. to question

  1577. me

  1578. and after

  1579. this encounter

  1580. he is

  1581. completely

  1582. humbled

  1583. and this

  1584. is his

  1585. response

  1586. in a similar

  1587. way

  1588. that

  1589. Asaph

  1590. is responding

  1591. in this

  1592. Psalm.

  1593. Verse 1

  1594. it says

  1595. Job

  1596. answered the

  1597. Lord

  1598. and said

  1599. I know

  1600. that you

  1601. can do

  1602. all

  1603. things

  1604. and no

  1605. purpose

  1606. of yours

  1607. can be

  1608. thwarted

  1609. who is

  1610. this

  1611. who hides

  1612. counsel

  1613. without

  1614. knowledge

  1615. therefore

  1616. I have

  1617. utterly

  1618. uttered

  1619. what I

  1620. did not

  1621. understand

  1622. things too

  1623. wonderful for

  1624. me

  1625. which I did

  1626. not know

  1627. so he's

  1628. saying

  1629. like I

  1630. was

  1631. speaking

  1632. about

  1633. stuff

  1634. I had

  1635. no idea

  1636. about

  1637. when I

  1638. was

  1639. questioning

  1640. you

  1641. I

  1642. was

  1643. clueless

  1644. and it

  1645. says

  1646. hear

  1647. and I

  1648. will

  1649. speak

  1650. I

  1651. will

  1652. question

  1653. you

  1654. and you

  1655. will

  1656. make

  1657. it

  1658. known

  1659. to

  1660. me

  1661. I

  1662. have

  1663. heard

  1664. of

  1665. you

  1666. by

  1667. the

  1668. hearing

  1669. of

  1670. the

  1671. ear

  1672. but

  1673. now

  1674. my

  1675. eyes

  1676. see

  1677. you

  1678. therefore

  1679. I

  1680. despise

  1681. myself

  1682. and I

  1683. repent

  1684. in dust

  1685. and ashes

  1686. so that

  1687. was his

  1688. response

  1689. like

  1690. who am

  1691. I

  1692. I

  1693. repent

  1694. of

  1695. this

  1696. attitude

  1697. I

  1698. had

  1699. towards

  1700. you

  1701. so

  1702. a couple

  1703. other

  1704. things

  1705. realize

  1706. and believe

  1707. that God

  1708. is still

  1709. good

  1710. that he

  1711. is still

  1712. sovereign

  1713. and even

  1714. despite

  1715. of our

  1716. the sin

  1717. that we

  1718. have

  1719. often

  1720. of doubting

  1721. him

  1722. not

  1723. trusting

  1724. him

  1725. when he

  1726. has won

  1727. our trust

  1728. a thousand

  1729. thousand

  1730. times

  1731. over

  1732. we still

  1733. doubt him

  1734. all the

  1735. time

  1736. he

  1737. still

  1738. bears

  1739. with

  1740. us

  1741. through

  1742. that

  1743. he

  1744. knows

  1745. what

  1746. is

  1747. good

  1748. and

  1749. he

  1750. knows

  1751. what's

  1752. best

  1753. for

  1754. you

  1755. so

  1756. write

  1757. this

  1758. down

  1759. if

  1760. you're

  1761. taking

  1762. notes

  1763. like

  1764. this

  1765. was

  1766. probably

  1767. like

  1768. one

  1769. of

  1770. the

  1771. most

  1772. convicting

  1773. things

  1774. to me

  1775. in my

  1776. prayer

  1777. life

  1778. I

  1779. remember

  1780. doubting

  1781. God's

  1782. goodness

  1783. to me

  1784. because

  1785. I

  1786. was

  1787. feeling

  1788. very

  1789. sick

  1790. a

  1791. relationship

  1792. that I

  1793. wanted

  1794. at the

  1795. time

  1796. was

  1797. not

  1798. working

  1799. out

  1800. and I

  1801. was

  1802. doubting

  1803. like his

  1804. goodness

  1805. in that

  1806. moment

  1807. this was

  1808. a few

  1809. years

  1810. ago

  1811. and this

  1812. is what

  1813. I really

  1814. felt

  1815. the spirit

  1816. just impressed

  1817. on me

  1818. okay

  1819. be careful

  1820. with impressions

  1821. Bible

  1822. first

  1823. alright

  1824. but

  1825. if you

  1826. ever

  1827. doubt

  1828. God's

  1829. goodness

  1830. and love

  1831. towards

  1832. you

  1833. look

  1834. no

  1835. further

  1836. than

  1837. the

  1838. cross

  1839. okay

  1840. if

  1841. you

  1842. doubt

  1843. that

  1844. like

  1845. God

  1846. took

  1847. care

  1848. of

  1849. your

  1850. greatest

  1851. need

  1852. and

  1853. sacrificed

  1854. his

  1855. own

  1856. son

  1857. to bring

  1858. you

  1859. eternal

  1860. good

  1861. in

  1862. him

  1863. that's

  1864. enough

  1865. that's

  1866. greater

  1867. than

  1868. anything

  1869. in

  1870. this

  1871. world

  1872. he

  1873. could

  1874. give

  1875. you

  1876. he

  1877. brought

  1878. you

  1879. back

  1880. to

  1881. himself

  1882. through

  1883. the

  1884. death

  1885. of

  1886. Christ

  1887. he

  1888. reconciled

  1889. you

  1890. to

  1891. himself

  1892. and

  1893. so

  1894. for

  1895. centuries

  1896. ancient

  1897. writers

  1898. have

  1899. called

  1900. God

  1901. son

  1902. of

  1903. which

  1904. means

  1905. like

  1906. he

  1907. is

  1908. the

  1909. chiefest

  1910. of

  1911. all

  1912. goods

  1913. the

  1914. greatest

  1915. of

  1916. all

  1917. goods

  1918. even

  1919. our

  1920. English

  1921. word

  1922. our

  1923. old

  1924. Saxon

  1925. word

  1926. for

  1927. God

  1928. means

  1929. the

  1930. good

  1931. because

  1932. he

  1933. is

  1934. good

  1935. Psalm

    Psalms 84:11

  1936. 84

  1937. verse

  1938. 11

  1939. this

  1940. is

  1941. so

  1942. good

  1943. for

  1944. the

  1945. Lord

  1946. God

  1947. is

  1948. a

  1949. sun

  1950. !

  1951. and

  1952. !

  1953. the

  1954. Lord

  1955. bestows

  1956. favor

  1957. and

  1958. honor

  1959. and

  1960. hear

  1961. this

  1962. no

  1963. good

  1964. thing

  1965. does

  1966. he

  1967. withhold

  1968. from

  1969. those

  1970. who

  1971. walk

  1972. up

  1973. rightly

  1974. no

  1975. good

  1976. thing

  1977. does

  1978. he

  1979. withhold

  1980. from

  1981. those

  1982. who

  1983. walk

  1984. up

  1985. rightly

  1986. so

  1987. as

  1988. the

  1989. as

  1990. a

  1991. man

  1992. said

  1993. a

  1994. long

  1995. time

  1996. ago

  1997. so

  1998. if

  1999. God

  2000. withholds

  2001. something

  2002. from

  2003. you

  2004. then

  2005. it

  2006. wasn't

  2007. good

  2008. for

  2009. you

  2010. in

  2011. that

  2012. moment

  2013. at

  2014. least

  2015. right

  2016. so

  2017. we

  2018. can

  2019. trust

  2020. him

  2021. trust

  2022. him

  2023. he's

  2024. worthy

  2025. to be

  2026. trusted

  2027. and

  2028. so

  2029. lastly

  2030. under

  2031. this

  2032. realize

  2033. and believe

  2034. that God

  2035. is enough

  2036. all right

  2037. not all

  2038. this stuff

  2039. that people

  2040. have you

  2041. don't need

  2042. you think

  2043. you do

  2044. but you

  2045. don't

  2046. verse

  2047. 25

  2048. and

  2049. 26

  2050. in

  2051. psalm

  2052. 73

  2053. whom

  2054. have

  2055. I

  2056. in

  2057. heaven

  2058. but

  2059. you

  2060. and

  2061. there

  2062. is

  2063. nothing

  2064. on

  2065. the

  2066. earth

  2067. I

  2068. desire

  2069. besides

  2070. you

  2071. my

  2072. flesh

  2073. and

  2074. my

  2075. heart

  2076. may

  2077. fail

  2078. but

  2079. God

  2080. is

  2081. the

  2082. strength

  2083. of my

  2084. heart

  2085. and my

  2086. portion

  2087. forever

  2088. so

  2089. though

  2090. you

  2091. possess

  2092. little

  2093. on

  2094. this

  2095. earth

  2096. if

  2097. you

  2098. have

  2099. God

  2100. you

  2101. have

  2102. an

  2103. abundance

  2104. for

  2105. all

  2106. eternity

  2107. forever

  2108. so

  2109. though

  2110. you

  2111. may

  2112. struggle

  2113. tempted

  2114. to doubt

  2115. that

  2116. he

  2117. is

  2118. our

  2119. portion

  2120. see

  2121. that

  2122. in

  2123. the

  2124. verse

  2125. it

  2126. really

  2127. just

  2128. means

  2129. the

  2130. portion

  2131. doesn't

  2132. mean

  2133. like

  2134. a

  2135. slice

  2136. of

  2137. something

  2138. it

  2139. means

  2140. like

  2141. that

  2142. which

  2143. completely

  2144. satisfy

  2145. you

  2146. and

  2147. fills

  2148. you

  2149. completely

  2150. God

  2151. is

  2152. your

  2153. portion

  2154. !

  2155. And

  2156. he

  2157. is

  2158. the

  2159. !

  2160. the

  2161. strength

  2162. of

  2163. your

  2164. heart

  2165. so

  2166. so

  2167. I

  2168. like

  2169. to

  2170. pick

  2171. on

  2172. people

  2173. occasionally

  2174. just

  2175. for

  2176. my

  2177. own

  2178. pride

  2179. I guess

  2180. I guess

  2181. that's

  2182. what it

  2183. is

  2184. sometimes

  2185. it's

  2186. just

  2187. all in

  2188. good

  2189. fun

  2190. but

  2191. I

  2192. kind

  2193. of

  2194. watch

  2195. as

  2196. words

  2197. come

  2198. and

  2199. go

  2200. in

  2201. college

  2202. culture

  2203. particularly

  2204. it

  2205. seemed

  2206. like

  2207. for

  2208. three

  2209. years

  2210. one

  2211. word

  2212. hung

  2213. on

  2214. awkward

  2215. this

  2216. is

  2217. awkward

  2218. that

  2219. is

  2220. awkward

  2221. you

  2222. are

  2223. awkward

  2224. like

  2225. everything

  2226. was

  2227. awkward

  2228. !

  2229. can you

  2230. learn the

  2231. English

  2232. language

  2233. a little

  2234. better

  2235. and not

  2236. use

  2237. that

  2238. all

  2239. the

  2240. time

  2241. because

  2242. this

  2243. isn't

  2244. awkward

  2245. but

  2246. the

  2247. one

  2248. I

  2249. hear

  2250. lately

  2251. though

  2252. is

  2253. the

  2254. word

  2255. literally

  2256. literally

  2257. this

  2258. literally

  2259. that

  2260. literally

  2261. this

  2262. but

  2263. this

  2264. is

  2265. going

  2266. to

  2267. be

  2268. like

  2269. literally

  2270. true

  2271. when I

  2272. say

  2273. this

  2274. in the

  2275. sense

  2276. of the

  2277. English

  2278. word

  2279. literally

  2280. right

  2281. you

  2282. literally

  2283. have

  2284. nothing

  2285. if

  2286. you

  2287. don't

  2288. have

  2289. Christ

  2290. and

  2291. you

  2292. literally

  2293. have

  2294. everything

  2295. if

  2296. you

  2297. do

  2298. possess

  2299. Christ

  2300. and

  2301. you

  2302. need

  2303. nothing

  2304. else

  2305. I

  2306. tell

  2307. guys

  2308. that

  2309. I'm

  2310. sharing

  2311. the

  2312. gospel

  2313. with

  2314. you

  2315. like

  2316. anything

  2317. you're

  2318. living

  2319. your

  2320. life

  2321. for

  2322. that

  2323. can

  2324. be

  2325. taken

  2326. away

  2327. from

  2328. you

  2329. is

  2330. not

  2331. worth

  2332. living

  2333. your

  2334. life

  2335. for

  2336. sports

  2337. relationships

  2338. this

  2339. is

  2340. all

  2341. going

  2342. to

  2343. go

  2344. this

  2345. great

  2346. body

  2347. and

  2348. great

  2349. !

  2350. health

  2351. you

  2352. have

  2353. it's

  2354. not

  2355. worth

  2356. it

  2357. so

  2358. the

  2359. last

  2360. thing

  2361. we're

  2362. going

  2363. to

  2364. do

  2365. turn

  2366. to

  2367. psalm

  2368. 16

  2369. we'll

  2370. end

  2371. right

  2372. here

  2373. but

  2374. I

  2375. will

  2376. throw

  2377. out

  2378. there

  2379. that

  2380. this

  2381. psalm

  2382. this

  2383. conclusion

  2384. that

  2385. Asaph

  2386. has

  2387. it

  2388. leads

  2389. him

  2390. to

  2391. want

  2392. to

  2393. go

  2394. and

  2395. tell

  2396. others

  2397. about

  2398. God

  2399. okay

  2400. so

  2401. he

  2402. doesn't

  2403. just

  2404. stop

  2405. there

  2406. and

  2407. say

  2408. I

  2409. have

  2410. God

  2411. and

  2412. I'm

  2413. not

  2414. going

  2415. to

  2416. give

  2417. anybody

  2418. else

  2419. he

  2420. explodes

  2421. with

  2422. this

  2423. idea

  2424. that

  2425. I

  2426. have

  2427. to

  2428. tell

  2429. of

  2430. his

  2431. works

  2432. in

  2433. verse

  2434. 28

  2435. I

  2436. have

  2437. made

  2438. the

  2439. Lord

  2440. God

  2441. my

  2442. refuge

  2443. that

  2444. I

  2445. may

  2446. tell

  2447. of

  2448. all

  2449. your

  2450. works

  2451. so

  2452. pity

  2453. those

  2454. who

  2455. are

  2456. without

  2457. Christ

  2458. and

  2459. go

  2460. to

  2461. them

  2462. and

  2463. give

  2464. them

  2465. the

  2466. truth

  2467. so

  2468. psalm

  2469. 16

  2470. this

  2471. is

  2472. David

  2473. now

  2474. verse

  2475. 5

  2476. the

  2477. Lord

  2478. is

  2479. my

  2480. chosen

  2481. portion

  2482. and

  2483. my

  2484. cup

  2485. you

  2486. hold

  2487. my

  2488. lot

  2489. the

  2490. lions

  2491. have

  2492. fallen

  2493. for

  2494. me

  2495. in

  2496. pleasant

  2497. places

  2498. indeed

  2499. I

  2500. have a

  2501. beautiful

  2502. inheritance

  2503. I

  2504. bless

  2505. the

  2506. Lord

  2507. who

  2508. gives

  2509. me

  2510. counsel

  2511. in

  2512. the

  2513. night

  2514. also

  2515. my

  2516. heart

  2517. also

  2518. instructs

  2519. me

  2520. I

  2521. have

  2522. set

  2523. the

  2524. Lord

  2525. always

  2526. before

  2527. me

  2528. he

  2529. is

  2530. at

  2531. my

  2532. right

  2533. hand

  2534. and

  2535. I

  2536. shall

  2537. not

  2538. be

  2539. shaken

  2540. therefore

  2541. my

  2542. heart

  2543. is

  2544. glad

  2545. and

  2546. my

  2547. whole

  2548. being

  2549. rejoices

  2550. my

  2551. flesh

  2552. also

  2553. dwells

  2554. secure

  2555. for

  2556. listen

  2557. to

  2558. this

  2559. for

  2560. you

  2561. will

  2562. not

  2563. abandon

  2564. !

  2565. my

  2566. soul

  2567. to

  2568. shield

  2569. or

  2570. let

  2571. your

  2572. holy

  2573. one

  2574. see

  2575. corruption

  2576. here

  2577. you

  2578. make

  2579. known

  2580. to

  2581. me

  2582. the

  2583. path

  2584. of

  2585. life

  2586. and

  2587. in

  2588. your

  2589. presence

  2590. there

  2591. is

  2592. fullness

  2593. of

  2594. joy

  2595. and

  2596. at

  2597. your

  2598. right

  2599. hand

  2600. there

  2601. are

  2602. pleasures

  2603. forever

  2604. more

  2605. amen

  2606. brought

  2607. this up

  2608. here

  2609. might as

  2610. well

  2611. use

  2612. it

  2613. so

  2614. cleaning

  2615. out

  2616. my

  2617. stuff

  2618. because

  2619. I'm

  2620. getting

  2621. ready

  2622. to

  2623. move

  2624. it's

  2625. like

  2626. a

  2627. nightmare

  2628. moving

  2629. so

  2630. I

  2631. found

  2632. something

  2633. that I

  2634. wrote

  2635. when I

  2636. was

  2637. 16

  2638. but

  2639. like

  2640. I

  2641. got

  2642. a

  2643. job

  2644. that

  2645. was

  2646. paying

  2647. me

  2648. pretty

  2649. well

  2650. at

  2651. a

  2652. warehouse

  2653. and

  2654. so

  2655. all

  2656. of

  2657. a

  2658. sudden

  2659. I

  2660. have

  2661. money

  2662. and

  2663. I

  2664. put

  2665. things

  2666. to

  2667. buy

  2668. with

  2669. my

  2670. money

  2671. and

  2672. it

  2673. says

  2674. listen

  2675. to

  2676. this

  2677. it's

  2678. a

  2679. typical

  2680. country

  2681. boy

  2682. wish list

  2683. toolbox

  2684. for my

  2685. truck

  2686. which

  2687. I

  2688. never

  2689. got

  2690. 3030

  2691. Winchester

  2692. I

  2693. got

  2694. that

  2695. 12

  2696. gauge

  2697. shotgun

  2698. I

  2699. got

  2700. that

  2701. a

  2702. male

  2703. basset

  2704. hound

  2705. I

  2706. got

  2707. that

  2708. his

  2709. name

  2710. was

  2711. Fred

  2712. he

  2713. died

  2714. a

  2715. fishing

  2716. pole

  2717. got

  2718. it

  2719. four

  2720. wheeler

  2721. kind

  2722. of

  2723. got

  2724. it

  2725. 45

  2726. pistol

  2727. I

  2728. got

  2729. a

  2730. 40

  2731. not

  2732. a

  2733. 45

  2734. boots

  2735. belt

  2736. buckle

  2737. a

  2738. horse

  2739. I

  2740. put

  2741. horse

  2742. $2,000

  2743. I

  2744. had

  2745. really

  2746. saved

  2747. for

  2748. that

  2749. one

  2750. I

  2751. never

  2752. got

  2753. it

  2754. but

  2755. I

  2756. rode

  2757. my

  2758. brother's

  2759. horses

  2760. so

  2761. it

  2762. worked

  2763. so

  2764. and

  2765. like

  2766. I

  2767. really

  2768. thought

  2769. this

  2770. stuff

  2771. was

  2772. going

  2773. to

  2774. do

  2775. it

  2776. like

  2777. this

  2778. stuff

  2779. was

  2780. going

  2781. to

  2782. do

  2783. it

  2784. and

  2785. a few

  2786. years

  2787. ago

  2788. if you

  2789. had

  2790. asked

  2791. me

  2792. what

  2793. three

  2794. things

  2795. will

  2796. satisfy

  2797. your

  2798. soul

  2799. if you

  2800. had

  2801. three

  2802. wishes

  2803. what

  2804. would

  2805. satisfy

  2806. it

  2807. I

  2808. would

  2809. say

  2810. better

  2811. health

  2812. I

  2813. would

  2814. say

  2815. a

  2816. job

  2817. or a

  2818. career

  2819. I

  2820. really

  2821. love

  2822. and

  2823. I

  2824. would

  2825. say

  2826. to

  2827. be

  2828. married

  2829. and

  2830. have

  2831. a

  2832. family

  2833. like

  2834. God

  2835. has

  2836. given

  2837. me

  2838. definitely

  2839. two

  2840. of

  2841. those

  2842. things

  2843. I

  2844. have

  2845. better

  2846. health

  2847. I

  2848. love

  2849. what

  2850. I

  2851. do

  2852. and

  2853. then

  2854. a

  2855. week

  2856. I'll

  2857. have

  2858. the

  2859. third

  2860. thing

  2861. but

  2862. if

  2863. but

  2864. if

  2865. those

  2866. other

  2867. two

  2868. things

  2869. didn't

  2870. satisfy

  2871. me

  2872. as

  2873. great

  2874. as

  2875. she

  2876. is

  2877. right

  2878. as

  2879. thankful

  2880. as

  2881. I

  2882. am

  2883. that

  2884. she'll

  2885. be

  2886. my

  2887. wife

  2888. soon

  2889. she's

  2890. not

  2891. going

  2892. to

  2893. do

  2894. it

  2895. either

  2896. and

  2897. I'm

  2898. not

  2899. going

  2900. to

  2901. do

  2902. it

  2903. for

  2904. her

  2905. like

  2906. Christ

  2907. only

  2908. will

  2909. satisfy

  2910. only

  2911. will

  2912. satisfy

  2913. don't

  2914. mean

  2915. a

  2916. word

  2917. of

  2918. prayer
