  1. While I get myself settled, let me invite you to open up your Bibles to Romans chapter 1.

    Romans 1 chapter mention

  2. !

  3. Paul's salutation in this, the greatest letter ever written, I argued.

  4. Our outline followed the way that Paul establishes the authority by which he writes.

  5. His hope and mine last week was to draw your attention to the letter and to say that it matters, it's important.

  6. I think that getting Romans right helps us to set in context so much of the Scripture.

  7. So this morning, the plan is to study the rest of the salutation, which we see in verses 5 through 7.

  8. And I'm grateful to be back in a text and slowing down and taking the time to meditate on just a couple of verses at a time.

  9. But before I read verses 5 through 7, I want to begin in verse 1.

  10. It's the beginning of the salutation and it just will make more sense if we begin reading there.

  11. So let me read beginning in verse 1 and remind you, beloved, that this is God's Word to us.

  12. And it was written for His glory and our good.

  13. And so we would all do well to listen to it in order to believe its promises and obey its commands.

  14. Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,

  15. which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures,

  16. concerning his Son who was descended from David according to the flesh,

  17. and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by His resurrection from the dead.

  18. Jesus Christ, our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith

  19. for the sake of His name among all the nations, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.

  20. To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints,

  21. grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

  22. And in verses 5 through 7, Paul tells the Roman believers and us that we have been called to a purpose,

  23. that we have been called to belong to Jesus Christ, and that we have been called to be saints.

  24. And these three callings will be our outline points for today.

  25. So first, in verse 5, we see that we are called to a purpose.

  26. And I want to first note that in verse 5, Paul does not use the word called as he does in verses 6 and 7.

  27. He does, however, use the word in relation to his own calling as an apostle in verse 1,

  28. which I asserted last week was an appeal to his authority as one of the men especially set apart in history to the office of apostle.

  29. Those 12 plus Paul.

  30. This is not the apostleship that he is referring to here in verse 5.

  31. He is not saying that we are all or that anybody amongst us might be called this capital A apostle.

  32. But he is using it in a more broad and generic way.

  33. That said, we will do well to not minimize the general calling of all who are in Christ Jesus to be sent ones.

  34. This is what the word apostle means, sent one.

  35. It is the most literal translation of the word here we find, apostleship.

  36. In order for us to see this as a calling upon all Christians from this text,

  37. we need to deal with some translation challenges.

  38. Now, anytime we come upon a text that brilliant men who have gone before us disagree upon,

  39. we've got to take a little extra time.

  40. We've got to pause and really think together.

  41. So I'm going to share with you what I believe Paul is communicating here.

  42. And maybe at the end of it, you might disagree with me.

  43. But I think the purpose still lands biblically all the same.

  44. First, we need to deal with the plural pronoun we.

  45. Now, it's important to know that it is not inserted there.

  46. In fact, that is a phrase altogether, which is a single word in Greek.

  47. We have received.

  48. It's a plural noun, which means the we is entirely appropriate in English.

  49. But to whom does the we apply?

  50. Some commentators argue that he is using his pronoun in reference to his particular calling as an apostle,

  51. along with others particularly called to share the gospel with Gentiles.

  52. Perhaps those in his missionary band of brothers.

  53. I don't find this making much sense because he hasn't introduced himself along with anybody else as he does in other letters.

  54. He simply introduces himself, Paul, and doesn't refer to himself singularly,

  55. but rather than he uses the plural pronoun we.

  56. I believe that this plural pronoun is more inclusive than that in light of another translation challenge.

  57. In the ESV, the phrase at the end of verse 5 is rendered among all the nations.

  58. I think most of you are using ESV since that's what we tend to preach from here.

  59. But some translations, good translations like the NASB, which we love, render it among all the Gentiles.

  60. So this Greek word, sometimes translated nations and sometimes translated Gentiles,

  61. is going to be used a lot in this letter.

  62. So I anticipate there's going to be some future potential challenges we may find as we work our way through.

  63. In fact, Paul uses it 29 times in the book of Romans.

  64. Its root is the word ethnos, from which we get our English words ethnic or ethnicity.

  65. So it is fair to translate it Gentiles.

  66. It is also fair to translate it as nations,

  67. as the word is meant to communicate non-Jewish people.

  68. And I think this is one of those cases that we don't have a really great equivalent English word,

  69. because the Greek word seems to have more depth than any single word we might place in its spot.

  70. Now, I think, and I am not a Greek scholar, so take this with a grain of salt,

  71. but I think that perhaps another good word here would have been the word peoples.

  72. I think that may get at its core meaning a little bit better, I say with a great measure of humility.

  73. But however it is decided upon, there is a phrase that precedes this word,

  74. and that phrase is among all.

  75. So whether it's among all the people, or among all the nations, or among all the Gentiles,

  76. Paul could have simply said among the Gentiles as he does elsewhere, but he does not.

  77. He says among all the ethnos.

  78. He broadens the scope, and I believe he does so because the plural pronoun we applies to his original audience,

  79. and it applies to you and to me.

  80. He's expanding it beyond even just his missionary call,

  81. or that of those Roman believers who we know were a mix of Gentile believers and Jewish believers.

  82. He's saying this gospel, this message, is meant to go to the very ends of the earth,

  83. beyond even the known world of their time.

  84. So, if you're still with me, let's see what you and what I have received.

  85. A calling to a purpose.

  86. Paul is saying here that we are meant to bring about the obedience of faith.

  87. We're to bring about the obedience of faith.

  88. First, and as we will see more starkly in subsequent studies of this book,

  89. God is the primary cause of all faith.

  90. It originates with him.

  91. But that does not preclude the secondary working of those who take up the ordinary means to see people come to faith.

  92. Namely, the call to repent and to believe.

  93. Paul is not here saying that we can somehow manipulate or muster up faith in people.

  94. He is not saying that we are primary cause.

  95. He will argue for us again and again throughout this letter that this is not the case.

  96. But he does know that God uses his people to bring about the salvation of his people.

  97. As a simple example, Romans chapter 10 and verse 14.

    Romans 10 chapter mention

  98. He says,

  99. So God uses the proclamation of his word both in bigger public settings and privately one-to-one to bring about the obedience of faith.

  100. The obedience of faith was the major content of Jesus' preaching.

  101. In Mark chapter 1 and verse 15, he said,

    Mark 1 chapter mention

  102. The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand.

  103. Repent and believe in the gospel.

  104. This must also be the primary thrust of what we do as God's people.

  105. There are many other good things to be done in this world.

  106. Sometimes those things can become distractions from the main thing rather than platform and help for the main thing.

  107. Some get distracted by social justice.

  108. Others get distracted by political cause.

  109. Some get distracted by the seeking of miracles.

  110. And beloved, let me say to you, if you want to see a miracle,

  111. see a dead, defiant soul come to life in Christ.

  112. There is no greater thing that God does miraculously in this world than make dead people alive.

  113. So as a command from God incarnate,

  114. it is a matter of obedience to turn away from one's sin and turn in faith to the saving work of Christ.

  115. To decide that the way of the world is not a way that is pleasing to our God

  116. and to turn to his way in Christ.

  117. If a person does not heed this command,

  118. they are committing a grievous act of wicked rebellion.

  119. So you here this morning, just hearing the call,

  120. repent and believe, turn from your sin and place your faith in Christ.

  121. If you don't, you are in rebellion against a most holy God

  122. who will judge the living and the dead.

  123. Paul certainly here means that we are meant to see peoples everywhere

  124. repent and believe.

  125. The thrust, the core of it is that people would come to saving faith in Christ.

  126. But I also think he means more by this phrase.

  127. You see, genuine faith is obedient faith.

  128. We are not saved by our works.

  129. But if we place our faith in Jesus Christ,

  130. it is a faith that will work.

  131. The person who has been saved by Christ

  132. does not arrive at perfection on this side of glory.

  133. But that person will, in ever-increasing measure,

  134. be obedient to Christ.

  135. We will continually, bit by bit,

  136. one degree of glory to another,

  137. look more like our Savior.

  138. This is the doctrine of progressive sanctification.

  139. I like that many scholars call it biblical sanctification.

  140. And we live in an age of easy believism.

  141. We're looking for people to raise a hand or walk an aisle,

  142. sign a card.

  143. We live in a day in which the declaration,

  144. I am a Christian,

  145. makes that declaration factual.

  146. Just look at statistics in our day, right?

  147. What do evangelicals believe?

  148. And you could very quickly look at what evangelicals declare they believe

  149. and say, you're not an evangelical at all.

  150. How could you possibly say you're a Christ follower

  151. when you deny his very person?

  152. And we live in an age that to show people from the word

  153. that transformed people should live as transformed people

  154. is shockingly unpopular.

  155. We finished studying not too long ago the book of James.

  156. And James says this so clearly.

  157. And I'm so grateful for this letter.

  158. It's of interest to you.

  159. We'll talk in some coming weeks about the Reformation.

  160. Martin Luther was translating the book of Romans

  161. as kind of a balm for him.

  162. They were trying to get him to calm down

  163. about the trouble of the state of his soul.

  164. And he came across Romans 1.16.

  165. He came to understand by revelation of the Spirit

  166. that salvation is by faith alone.

  167. We're going to see that repeated theme throughout this letter.

  168. We're saved by grace alone, through faith alone,

  169. and the person and work of Jesus Christ alone.

  170. He thought this was so important to our understanding as Christians

  171. that he didn't want the book of James included in the canon.

  172. He wanted it discluded just in case anybody might be confused.

  173. And so we have to be so careful at this point.

  174. But let me read to you just three verses from James 2.

  175. This is verse 17 and following.

  176. James says,

  177. So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

  178. But someone will say,

  179. You have faith and I have works.

  180. Show me your faith apart from your works,

  181. and I will show you my faith by my works.

  182. He's saying it's nonsensical just to say you have faith.

  183. You have to actually evidence that you believe something to be true.

  184. And then he says this astounding thing in verse 19.

  185. He says,

  186. You believe that God is one.

  187. You do well.

  188. So here's a declaration of faith.

  189. I believe that God is one.

  190. He says,

  191. You do well.

  192. But then he says,

  193. Even the demons believe and shudder.

  194. And they do not have saving faith.

  195. Jesus says it in Matthew chapter 7.

    Matthew 7 chapter mention

  196. Similarly,

  197. the Sermon on the Mount,

  198. speaking of the judgment that will come,

  199. beginning in verse 18 and following,

  200. he says,

  201. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit,

  202. nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.

  203. We're shown who we are by what's being produced in us.

  204. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

  205. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.

  206. And if that doesn't make you shudder enough,

  207. he says in verse 21 and following,

  208. Not everyone who says to me,

  209. Lord, Lord,

  210. will enter the kingdom of heaven.

  211. But the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

  212. On that day,

  213. many will say to me,

  214. Lord, Lord,

  215. did we not prophesy in your name

  216. and cast out demons in your name

  217. and do many mighty works in your name?

  218. And then I will declare to them,

  219. I never knew you.

  220. Depart from me,

  221. you workers of lawlessness.

  222. So it's altogether possible

  223. to do the things that you think you ought to be doing

  224. and not to be producing righteousness

  225. as a result of your saving faith.

  226. It is of great concern to me

  227. that you may think you are a Christian

  228. because you declared it so,

  229. but that you have yet to experience

  230. the transformative work of Christ.

  231. that you're not going about the labor

  232. of being an active part of a church.

  233. That you're not making your calling and election sure.

  234. That you're not working out your salvation

  235. with fear and trembling.

  236. That you're not asking others to examine you

  237. and correct you

  238. that they might find in you repentance

  239. and continued faith.

  240. Please this morning,

  241. if you think you are in Christ

  242. and you don't evidence that

  243. in your works at all,

  244. come talk to somebody.

  245. We want you to see in your life

  246. ever-changing growth in glory.

  247. None of us will arrive.

  248. None of us this side of heaven.

  249. But be sure that you're not deceiving yourself.

  250. That you're not deluded in thinking

  251. that you're in Christ

  252. simply because you've declared it so.

  253. We are to bring about the obedience of faith.

  254. A faith that works,

  255. that expresses itself.

  256. This is a purpose that's given

  257. to each and every one of us

  258. who are in Christ.

  259. Christ,

  260. we have been set apart

  261. for this work.

  262. Sent into the world

  263. for this work.

  264. And this is a work done

  265. by grace.

  266. We received grace

  267. and apostleship.

  268. And it's done

  269. primarily in the context

  270. of the local church.

  271. Turn with me, if you would,

  272. to Matthew chapter 28.

    Matthew 28 chapter mention

  273. It's a text that I hope

  274. that you're familiar with.

  275. Amen.

  276. We'll look at verses 18 through 20,

  277. but I want to read first verse 19.

  278. If you have any church background

  279. and you've heard this,

  280. Jesus says,

  281. Go therefore

  282. and make disciples

  283. of all nations.

  284. There's that word again,

  285. ethnos.

  286. Baptizing them

  287. in the name of the Father

  288. and of the Son

  289. and of the Holy Spirit.

  290. And this verse

  291. rightly in so many ways

  292. becomes the drumbeat

  293. of churches

  294. and mission movements.

  295. It's a wonderful command.

  296. It's a command

  297. that should be obeyed.

  298. But often we miss

  299. that there's something

  300. key happening in this

  301. and that is the

  302. baptizing

  303. of these

  304. disciples.

  305. Baptism is an ordinance

  306. of the church.

  307. So Jesus has

  308. embedded

  309. right into this

  310. what we call

  311. the Great Commission,

  312. the centrality

  313. of the church

  314. in doing this

  315. work.

  316. We're to go

  317. and make disciples

  318. of all peoples

  319. and we're to baptize

  320. them in the name

  321. of the Holy

  322. and of the Father

  323. and of the Son

  324. and of the Holy Spirit.

  325. We're to go

  326. and we're to create

  327. churches

  328. so that

  329. verse 20 says

  330. we can teach them

  331. to observe

  332. all that I have

  333. commanded you.

  334. To bring about

  335. the obedience

  336. of

  337. faith.

  338. But a lot of people

  339. also miss

  340. the bookends

  341. of this

  342. great command

  343. that begins

  344. in verse 18

  345. and ends

  346. in the last half

  347. of verse 20.

  348. We act as if

  349. the task is for us

  350. to go and do

  351. something for

  352. Jesus.

  353. And you hear this

  354. language used

  355. all the time.

  356. As if

  357. our Lord

  358. did his three years,

  359. completed the task,

  360. left,

  361. and said,

  362. good luck y'all.

  363. I've got a task

  364. for you to accomplish.

  365. I'll be watching.

  366. Go get it done.

  367. And whether we say

  368. we're doing this,

  369. we have any

  370. mental assertion

  371. that that's what

  372. we're doing,

  373. we often

  374. functionally

  375. do this.

  376. And we forget

  377. that in verse 18

  378. Jesus says,

  379. all authority

  380. in heaven

  381. and on earth

  382. has been given

  383. to me.

  384. He says,

  385. I am completely

  386. and totally

  387. in charge.

  388. So,

  389. Jesus Christ

  390. as the primary means,

  391. he says to us

  392. as secondary means,

  393. go make disciples,

  394. baptize them,

  395. share the gospel,

  396. see people come

  397. to faith,

  398. start churches,

  399. teach them

  400. to observe

  401. all that was commanded,

  402. bring about

  403. the obedience

  404. of faith,

  405. and then he says,

  406. and behold,

  407. I am with you

  408. always

  409. to the end

  410. of the age.

  411. So,

  412. we don't

  413. do things

  414. for Jesus,

  415. we do things

  416. by Jesus.

  417. For the great

  418. grace he's given us,

  419. by the power

  420. he works

  421. within us.

  422. What an astounding

  423. task.

  424. Praise God

  425. that it is

  426. an empowered

  427. task,

  428. for we,

  429. apart from the

  430. grace of God,

  431. are altogether

  432. unworthy for it.

  433. Apart from

  434. God's saving grace,

  435. grace,

  436. we would not

  437. be sent ones,

  438. and apart from

  439. his sustaining

  440. grace,

  441. we would be

  442. no good

  443. for the task.

  444. I mentioned

  445. last week

  446. that Paul

  447. begins his

  448. appeal

  449. to his

  450. authoritative

  451. role

  452. to write

  453. this letter

  454. with a great

  455. measure

  456. of humility.

  457. He introduces

  458. himself as a

  459. servant

  460. of Christ,

  461. Jesus.

  462. May we

  463. approach the

  464. task with

  465. the same

  466. humility.

  467. Karl Barth

  468. once said

  469. of this

  470. text,

  471. only when

  472. grace is

  473. recognized

  474. to be

  475. incomprehensible

  476. is it

  477. grace.

  478. That God

  479. would call

  480. me

  481. and that God

  482. would call

  483. you

  484. to be sent

  485. into the

  486. world to

  487. bring about

  488. the obedience

  489. of faith

  490. and that he

  491. provides all

  492. that is

  493. necessary

  494. for that

  495. is an

  496. astounding

  497. reality.

  498. It should

  499. be

  500. incomprehensible

  501. to our

  502. hearts.

  503. So we

  504. have received

  505. grace and

  506. apostleship to

  507. bring about

  508. the obedience

  509. of faith.

  510. We have a

  511. very specific

  512. purpose and

  513. our purpose

  514. has a

  515. purpose.

  516. It has a

  517. purpose.

  518. Paul says

  519. for the

  520. sake of

  521. his name

  522. among

  523. all

  524. the

  525. nations.

  526. We are

  527. to be

  528. used as

  529. the

  530. secondary

  531. means of

  532. bringing

  533. all the

  534. praise

  535. and

  536. adoration

  537. due the

  538. name

  539. of

  540. Jesus

  541. Christ

  542. our

  543. Lord.

  544. I want

  545. to read

  546. something

  547. brief to

  548. you from

  549. Martin Lloyd

  550. Jones'

  551. commentary

  552. on this

  553. text.

  554. He

  555. writes,

  556. the

  557. introduction

  558. of this

  559. term

  560. name

  561. is

  562. important

  563. and

  564. significant.

  565. The

  566. name in

  567. scripture

  568. always stands

  569. for the

  570. revelation

  571. by which

  572. we know

  573. and

  574. apprehend

  575. the

  576. person

  577. indicated.

  578. In the

  579. Old Testament

  580. for instance,

  581. God revealed

  582. himself to

  583. the nation

  584. of Israel

  585. through his

  586. names.

  587. You will

  588. find them

  589. in the

  590. Old Testament

  591. scriptures.

  592. Jehovah

  593. and the

  594. various

  595. additions

  596. to that.

  597. Jehovah

  598. Jireh,

  599. Jehovah

  600. Shalom,

  601. and so

  602. on.

  603. God makes

  604. himself known

  605. through

  606. names.

  607. Names

  608. which are

  609. descriptive

  610. of him,

  611. of his

  612. person,

  613. of his

  614. motives,

  615. of his

  616. desires,

  617. and of

  618. his

  619. activities.

  620. The

  621. name

  622. reveals

  623. the

  624. man.

  625. We

  626. say

  627. about

  628. a

  629. man

  630. that

  631. he

  632. has

  633. a

  634. great

  635. name

  636. as

  637. a

  638. barrister

  639. or as

  640. a

  641. doctor

  642. or

  643. whatever

  644. his

  645. calling.

  646. We

  647. mean

  648. by this

  649. that

  650. the

  651. name

  652. which

  653. he

  654. has

  655. made

  656. for

  657. himself

  658. tells

  659. us

  660. about

  661. him.

  662. Now

  663. the

  664. apostle

  665. uses

  666. it

  667. in

  668. that

  669. sense

  670. here.

  671. The

  672. name

  673. stands

  674. for

  675. and

  676. represents

  677. the

  678. glory

  679. of

  680. the

  681. Lord

  682. Jesus

  683. Christ.

  684. We

  685. are

  686. meant

  687. as the

  688. high

  689. end

  690. of

  691. bringing

  692. about

  693. the

  694. obedience

  695. of

  696. faith

  697. to

  698. see

  699. God

  700. glorified

  701. in

  702. the

  703. person

  704. and

  705. work

  706. of

  707. Jesus

  708. Christ.

  709. Another

  710. word

  711. for

  712. glorified

  713. is

  714. magnified.

  715. If you've

  716. been here

  717. long,

  718. you've

  719. heard me

  720. share

  721. this

  722. wonderful

  723. example

  724. from

  725. John

  726. Piper.

  727. He

  728. expresses

  729. there

  730. are

  731. two

  732. types

  733. of

  734. magnification.

  735. There's

  736. the

  737. magnification

  738. that a

  739. microscope

  740. does

  741. where it

  742. makes

  743. small

  744. things

  745. look

  746. bigger

  747. than

  748. they

  749. actually

  750. are.

  751. And

  752. then

  753. there's

  754. the

  755. type

  756. of

  757. magnification

  758. that a

  759. telescope

  760. does

  761. that

  762. makes

  763. huge

  764. things

  765. look

  766. more

  767. like

  768. they

  769. actually

  770. are.

  771. And

  772. this

  773. is

  774. the

  775. type

  776. of

  777. magnification

  778. we

  779. do

  780. as

  781. we

  782. by

  783. grace

  784. bring

  785. about

  786. the

  787. obedience

  788. of

  789. faith.

  790. Making

  791. a

  792. massive

  793. God

  794. look

  795. more

  796. as

  797. he

  798. actually

  799. is.

  800. Our

  801. lives

  802. our

  803. obedience

  804. of

  805. faith

  806. and

  807. our

  808. work

  809. to

  810. bring

  811. about

  812. the

  813. obedience

  814. of

  815. faith

  816. is

  817. divinely

  818. designed

  819. to

  820. magnify

  821. the

  822. one

  823. to

  824. whom

  825. we

  826. belong.

  827. Beloved

  828. because

  829. our

  830. God

  831. is

  832. great

  833. we

  834. should

  835. desire

  836. that

  837. he

  838. would

  839. be

  840. greatly

  841. praised.

  842. I

  843. admit

  844. that

  845. sometimes

  846. to

  847. my

  848. shame

  849. I

  850. lose

  851. sight

  852. of

  853. this.

  854. The

  855. gospel

  856. is

  857. not

  858. simply

  859. about

  860. me

  861. or

  862. about

  863. us

  864. but

  865. it

  866. is

  867. about

  868. the

  869. glory

  870. of

  871. our

  872. God

  873. among

  874. all

  875. peoples.

  876. If

  877. our

  878. theology

  879. does

  880. not

  881. lead

  882. to

  883. does

  884. not

  885. drive

  886. doxology

  887. the

  888. praise

  889. of

  890. our

  891. God

  892. either

  893. something

  894. is

  895. amiss

  896. with

  897. our

  898. theology

  899. or

  900. something

  901. is

  902. amiss

  903. in

  904. our

  905. hearts

  906. and

  907. God

  908. have

  909. mercy

  910. on

  911. us.

  912. Now

  913. I

  914. am

  915. about

  916. to

  917. land

  918. my

  919. first

  920. point

  921. and

  922. I

  923. am

  924. noting

  925. that

  926. it

  927. is

  928. afternoon

  929. so

  930. let

  931. me

  932. actually

  933. conclude

  934. today

  935. with

  936. this

  937. and

  938. we'll

  939. pick

  940. back

  941. up

  942. the

  943. following

  944. two

  945. points

  946. next

  947. week

  948. I

  949. want

  950. to

  951. read

  952. the

  953. first

  954. four

  955. verses

  956. of

  957. Psalm

  958. 96

  959. and

  960. then

  961. I'll

  962. pray

  963. oh

  964. sing

  965. to

  966. the

  967. Lord

  968. a

  969. new

  970. song

  971. sing

  972. to

  973. the

  974. Lord

  975. all

  976. the

  977. earth

  978. sing

  979. to

  980. the

  981. Lord

  982. bless

  983. his

  984. name

  985. tell

  986. of

  987. his

  988. salvation

  989. from

  990. day

  991. to

  992. day

  993. declare

  994. his

  995. glory

  996. among

  997. the

  998. nations

  999. his

  1000. marvelous

  1001. works

  1002. among

  1003. all

  1004. the

  1005. peoples

  1006. for

  1007. great

  1008. is

  1009. the

  1010. Lord

  1011. and

  1012. greatly

  1013. to

  1014. be

  1015. praised

  1016. !

  1017. He

  1018. is

  1019. to

  1020. be

  1021. feared

  1022. above

  1023. all

  1024. gods

  1025. let's

  1026. pray

  1027. together

  1028. as
