  13. Let's hear the word of God together.

  14. Paul a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ,

  15. according to the fee of God's elect and the acknowledging of

  16. the truth, which is after godliness in Hope of eternal

  17. life which God that cannot lie promised before the world began,

  18. But how often do tames manifested his word through

  19. preaching, which is committed unto me.

  20. According to the Commandment of God, our savior Too tight us,

  21. mine own son, after the common Faith, grace, mercy, and peace.

  22. From God, the father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, Our Savior

  23. for this cause left, I Thee in Crete, that thou shouldst set in

  24. order, the things that are wanting, and their DNA Elders in

  25. every city, as I had appointed thee.

  26. If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful,

  27. Faithful children, not accused of Riot or unruly for a.

  28. Bishop must be blameless. As the steward of God, not

  29. self-willed. Not soon, angry, not given to

  30. Wine, no Striker, not given to Filthy lucre, but her lover of

  31. hospitality, a lover of Good. Men sober, just holy temperate,

  32. holding fast, the faithful word as he had been taught that he

  33. may be able by Sir. Doctrine, both to exhort.

  34. And to convince the gainsayers for there are many unruly and

  35. vain talkers and deceivers, especially they of the

  36. circumcision whose mouths Must Be Stopped, who subvert whole

  37. houses teaching things, which they ought not for filthy lucre

  38. seek one of themselves. Even a prophet of their own

  39. said, the cretans are always Liars.

  40. He's evil beasts, slow bellies. This witness is true.

  41. Wherefore rebuke them sharply that they may be sold in the

  42. fear, not giving heed to Jewish fables and Commandments of men

  43. that turn from the truth unto the pure, all things are pure,

  44. but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure.

  45. But even their mind, and conscience is defiled.

  46. They profess that they know God but in Works they deny him being

  47. abominable and disobedient and unto every good work reprobate.

  48. The my tax tonight is found and Titus Chapter 1 and verse 2, in

    Titus 1 chapter mention

  49. verse 2, we read in Hope of eternal life which God that

  50. cannot lie promised before the world began.

  51. Now this evening, I want to Us to focus on the words in Hope of

  52. eternal life. I believe this is a wonderful

  53. simple statement and yet a very Sublime profound step and so

  54. simple that the children would be able to understand and grasp

  55. and yet social blade you could write a whole theological

  56. doctrinal book. Just in this one free years and

  57. hope of eternal life. See the apostle.

  58. Paul is. Writing a very short letter to a

  59. fellow Minister called Titus. Titus and the Apostle Paul had

  60. visited the island of Crete and a number of New Testament.

  61. Churches, were formed there. A number of Jews and Gentiles

  62. were gloriously born again, out of Crete's Pagan culture and the

  63. Apostle Paul, when he was leaving the island, he left

  64. taters behind to sort out some problems in these infant will

  65. call them struggling Church. Has Paul wanted them to be

  66. strong. He wanted them to get a good

  67. foothold for Christ and the gospel despite the Pagan culture

  68. despite the presence of false teachers and false teachers.

  69. Now you Crete is an island 160 miles long about seven to thirty

  70. five miles wide and places and a situated in the southern tip of

  71. Greece. In the Mediterranean Sea.

  72. I've never been there, but It's a lovely place to go to for a

  73. holiday. However, the Christian people

  74. had acquired a very bad reputation Paul sites.

  75. One of their ports among by the name of are pie Mendes.

  76. Listen to what he says in chapter 1 and verse 12.

  77. One of them sales, even a prophet of their own said, the

  78. cretians are always Liars. Evil beasts, slow, bellies. in

  79. other words, they were lazy gluttons.

  80. And Paul is displaying here, their Chief reputation among

  81. man, and yet into that Pagan culture with us, Chief

  82. reputation. For this lifestyle, the

  83. wonderful Sovereign, Grace of God, the power of the Gospel had

  84. taken root. And I had no tight that the

  85. Christians had been present and Jerusalem and the day of

  86. Pentecost where they heard the disciples speak in the crease

  87. and language, the wonderful works of God.

  88. I've no doubt that there and then some were converted not day

  89. upon hearing Peter preached. The gospel they later went home

  90. to plant the seed of the gospel and here's Paul and the

  91. missionary journey along with Titus, he's leaving the island

  92. and Titus has left behind Soundly certain Jews were making

  93. life difficult for the Christians.

  94. They were promoting false Doctrine and Tate Us by the

  95. grace of God, had a great reputation for dealing with

  96. difficult problems in the church.

  97. So, Paul left in there to help get the church on a solid

  98. footing. So here, H to him, this short

  99. ladder, I want you to think of taters and Crete along with the

  100. people of God. And here's the theme of the

  101. latter. How to Live out the gospel in a

  102. pagan world. And to me, that's the summary of

  103. the whole book, God's people who were genuinely and truly

  104. received must by the grace of God.

  105. Engage in Godly Deeds, evidence fruit of Salvation as a laborer

  106. for Christ under the authority of the local church.

  107. Versus 124 forms. The introduction to the latter.

  108. It's a lengthy introduction. It's full of instruction full of

  109. wonderful. Chris each truth could be

  110. expanded upon as we enter further into the latter, but

  111. tonight were just examining one thing and I've broken it up into

  112. constituent Parts. Not theme is in Hope of eternal

  113. life. I want you to think of a number

  114. of things. I want you to think of the fact

  115. of the hope of eternal life. And hope.

  116. See some people imagine that hope contains the idea of doubt.

  117. It's wishful thinking. I hope to do this and that, so I

  118. could say, well, I hope to visit Crete this week.

  119. Well, I would be not be going to create as be wishful thinking on

  120. my part or I could say well I hope to do this and that and I

  121. wish to go here and go there but never got around to doing this

  122. and that I hope I get this job that have applied for but

  123. there's no realistic expectation that I will.

  124. I could say well I hope I win the lottery.

  125. Well, I won't because that's gambling.

  126. It's in before the Lord. I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow

  127. or who's that? Nope.

  128. Doesn't snow next week. Week.

  129. Well, again, we have no realistic expectation.

  130. That, that desire would come to pass, is he?

  131. It doesn't mean that I know that when we use the word hope,

  132. that's the way we use it. But how man use hoop and how

  133. God, the Holy Ghost uses. Hope is two different things.

  134. You see when God uses the word. Hope there's 133, references to

  135. the word hope and the, the Bible, the word, hope here means

  136. to look to the future with a confident.

  137. Expectation. It points to God's covenant

  138. faithfulness in relation to his presence as promises in this

  139. power. It also means to we it in the

  140. Lord with the humble confidence and trust in him alone, listen

  141. to the word of God and sound 42 verse 5.

  142. Why art thou? He cast down O my soul and we're

  143. disquieted within me. Hope thou in God for, I shall

  144. yet, praise him for the help of his countenance.

  145. What does that? That mean hope.

  146. Thou in God, it means look to the future with a confident

  147. expectation. It points us to God's covenant,

  148. faithfulness of has promised his presence has power.

  149. It means to we it on the Lord with a humble confident.

  150. Trust in him. If we were to turn their to

  151. another Sam Sam. 130. It says, in verse 7, that

  152. Israel. Hoping the Lord means exactly

  153. the same thing for with the Lord, there is Mercy.

  154. And with there was plenty of Redemption for he shall redeem

  155. Israel from his iniquities. And you see The children of

  156. Israel. They were taken up with God's

  157. covenant, faithful promise and they fix their heart and mind in

  158. that promise on its certainty. And on the centrality of all

  159. that God had promised and at the heart of God's promise was

  160. Christ, remember Galatians 4 and 4.

  161. But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth

  162. his son, hi mierda. If a woman me and under the law

  163. for what purpose can redeem them that were under the law that we

  164. might receive. Listen to this, the adoption of

  165. sons and then the New Testament as it begins to unfold.

  166. You've got the unfolding and you've got the full revelation

  167. of all that God promised in relation to Christ and that

  168. promise as I'm telling you from the First Gospel promise Genesis

    Genesis 3:15

  169. 3:15, And all the way through to Galatians 4 and 4 were centered

  170. and godson. And over there in the book of

  171. Colossians and remember we preached in us as we preach

  172. through Colossians 1 to whom God would make known, what is the

  173. riches of the glory of this mystery?

  174. Among the Gentiles? Which is Christ in you the hope

  175. of glory. You see Christ is our hope and

  176. remember that Paul was able to say for in him, that's in

  177. Christ, all the promises of God are ye and a man, you see?

  178. It's not just, you've got an idea, it's not just, you've got

  179. a concept. It's not that you've got a

  180. feeling and you sense that something good is going to

  181. happen. Isn't there a song about that?

  182. Something good is going to happen II.

  183. Can't The singer that I can't even hum it, but that's not what

  184. this Hoops abide, it's richer, it's deeper, it's greater, it's

  185. better because there's a confident expectation of this

  186. thing happening because it's rooted in God's faithful,

  187. Covenant, promise. That's the fact of this hope to

  188. eternal life. I want you to notice.

  189. Secondly, and quickly, I want you to think of the focus of Our

  190. Hope, because if it's true and I believe it is, it's factual that

  191. Christ is our hope of eternal life.

  192. And remember, we live in a pagan world with a pagan culture, all

  193. around us, the power of sin, the Power of Satan and evil.

  194. We Fierce trials and Temptation. We Fierce temptation to sin.

  195. We we are alive to all the problems and Perfection is of

  196. life. We live with difficulty and

  197. disappointment disaster. We've got disease in the one

  198. hand with death and the other, and yet he can be fierce, all of

  199. that. Here's the answer Christ is our

  200. Our hope you see whenever you have got a sovereign God on the

  201. throne, who tells us that Christ is our hope then you can see a

  202. way through despite the trial and trouble despite the problems

  203. and the pressures of life, you can see a late in the valley.

  204. In fact, the Bible talks about a Door of Hope in the valley of

  205. achor Door of Hope, Christ is adored by looking to him by.

  206. We're heading to him by having a confident.

  207. Expectation, he will fulfill all that he has promised, you see?

  208. if I think of the Christian Life, Some people have this

  209. mindset. That I can't have a certain

  210. expectation of eternal life. Until after I'm dead and

  211. whenever a die, God will give me eternal life.

  212. But it's not. I hope when I died again,

  213. eternal life, it's not. I hope one day to Guillen

  214. eternal life. It's not even.

  215. I hope to be granted by God one day, eternal life.

  216. See, some people have this main said that?

  217. There's a test And if your words lie, if you pass the test, if

  218. you've been approved then you're granted the Fulfillment of this

  219. promise. But but that's not the concept

  220. that that should not be your focus.

  221. Your remember I said of Christ without hope your dad and send

  222. your darkened because of sin your Disease by sin, but in

  223. Christ You've got hope of eternal life and that's promised

  224. my but it's not only promised it's possessed.

  225. Not, I remember John 3 and 16 for gold what?

  226. So loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that

  227. whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have what

  228. everlasting life. I remember John says in John

    John 3 chapter mention

  229. chapter 3 and in the verse 36 he made a tremendous statement he

  230. that believeth on the son hath everlasting life and he that

  231. believeth not the son shall not see life but the wrath of God.

  232. Abideth on him. If you're in Christ and Christ

  233. in u.s. the hope of glory then the focus of that Hooper's what

  234. has promised us possess nine. You're not waiting until the

  235. Judgment Day to find out. If you're worthy running brought

  236. into heaven and given this gift, you're not waiting at the door

  237. of having to see if Peter would maybe let Yen.

  238. I don't know where this idea of Peter at the door of happened

  239. ever come from. I feel, it's a could a crude

  240. form of Roman Catholicism. Solecism Peter of course they

  241. teach those the the Pope's are. You've got to think of the Pope

  242. at the door of Heaven, admitting were they candidate said well

  243. that's not the picture if you're born again and if you've

  244. experienced remission of sins and there was a day and Taemin

  245. your life on yourseif Christ as Lord and Savior.

  246. Then listen to what the Apostle John says in John chapter 1 and

    John 1 chapter mention

  247. verse 12, but as many as received him to them gave he

  248. power to become the sons. Sons of God, that word power

  249. means the right or the authority.

  250. Even to them that believe on his knee, which were born not of

  251. blood. See it's not a rat attorney nor

  252. of the will of the flesh. It's not of your own wealth, nor

  253. of the will of Mom, it's not the will of the preacher of the

  254. parent, but of God, And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among

  255. us and we beheld his glory. You see, if you we it till you

  256. die to find out. If you've got eternal life,

  257. it'll be too late. And that day, if you went to

  258. that day, you'll have no hope you'll have no Assurance.

  259. If you have not got Jesus Christ, as Lord and Savior, then

  260. you do not have this hope of glory Christ.

  261. Just a promised, savior Christ is a pervaded savior, he's a

  262. personal savior, he's a powerful Savior.

  263. And then hen, if you've received him, you've this confident

  264. expectation of all that God has promise will be fulfilled and

  265. listen to me, carefully will be fulfilled to the very latter As

  266. you focus in this hope, think of this, he alone can deliver you.

  267. From the penalty of sin, which is death, he alone breaks, the

  268. power of canceled sin sets, the prisoner free.

  269. He alone takes the love of sinning, on your heart, takes

  270. away the very pleasure of sin. He alone can deliver you from

  271. fear of death, who many people are afraid to die.

  272. And yet Christ, as the great deliverer, listen to what the

  273. Apostle Paul says in Hebrews and in Chapter 2 and verses 14 and

  274. 15 for his much. Stay and his children are

  275. particulars of Flesh and Blood. He also himself likewise took

  276. part of the sea Here's the reason, one of them, that's

  277. through death, that's his death on the cross.

  278. He might destroy him. That had the power of death.

  279. That is the devil and deliver them who through fear of death

  280. were all their lifetime subject, to bondage, the very weapon that

  281. Seaton used against mom The fear of death crazed is the great

  282. deliverer, Kevin sees that and used it his death on the cross.

  283. To destroy the Devil. Triumphing over him and has

  284. cross work. You don't have to fear death.

  285. I know that some ask that question, do you know fear

  286. death? Well I shade of Christ you

  287. should because the wages of sin is death but less than the gift

  288. of God that's in Christ. It's what eternal life.

  289. It's promised but glory to goddess possessed night.

  290. Maybe you have a fear of meeting Gordon the judgment.

  291. Well, I've got wonderful news for you.

  292. Do you know whenever the Angels send God shut them up to your

  293. Journal damnation. He never lifted a finger.

  294. He never stirred a thought to see you one of those sinning

  295. angels yet in our fall into their state of sin and misery

  296. and Adam. God promised us savior.

  297. Genesis 3 and 15, the seed of the woman would bruise the head

  298. of the serpent even though the servant would strike at his

  299. heel. Some people ask me.

  300. Well, what did God ever? See in me to see of me?

  301. I want the answer that. He see nothing worthy.

  302. He saw that you were bought dead and send a vile hail deserving

  303. Sinner. And in free Greece, he sought

  304. you ate and free Greece. He bought you with the precious

  305. blood and free Grace, he brought you to the feet of Christ.

  306. I'm right here. Said it was down at the feet of

  307. Jesus or the happy. Happy day that my soul find

  308. peace in believing and my sins were washed away.

  309. This is all part of that confident expectation that in

  310. Christ. God Saves us from sins Palin tea

  311. and sends power and sends pleasure.

  312. He takes away our fear of death, he takes away our fear of

  313. meeting God and the judgment Could I add something else?

  314. Even when you die physically on your corpses, please stand the

  315. casket. What happens to your soul?

  316. Your soul leaves the body. That's what death is.

  317. Its The Giving Up With The Ghost and not justified.

  318. Soul leaves the body. It's already made perfect and

  319. Glory. You're seeing King Jesus Fiesta.

  320. Fears. This is what we call the

  321. intermediate ski it. And even that that's not the end

  322. because there's more And this should be our Focus.

  323. There's a resurrection ski it. That's coming at the last Trump.

  324. When Christ returns in power and Glory, there's going to be the

  325. first resurrection and one day, the body and soul of all who

  326. have died in Christ, will be resurrected called the

  327. resurrection of the body. Romans chapter, 8, 23.

  328. And I'm 24. Peter, preached us Timothy

  329. talked about this here, is he? When we think of the Gospel.

  330. I want you to thank not only if the Incarnation a mystery, the

  331. Virgin birth, the send this life, the atoning death, but you

  332. got to think of Christ bodily, Resurrection.

  333. You've got to think of Christ's intercession have them.

  334. You've got to think of the resurrection of the Redeemed by

  335. Christ at his return. I want to ask the question.

  336. Will you be among the redeemed in that day?

  337. If you die tonight. Have your Justified.

  338. So love baby at perfect and have him.

  339. Someone said that when they get the have and I think it was

  340. Robert Murray make she and they'll be surprised who is

  341. there? And the divorce surprised who's

  342. not there. But they'll be wonderfully

  343. surprised that they're there, but that surprise is rooted in

  344. this confident expectation. They'll be full of gladness and

  345. joy. Well, I could ask you to Nate.

  346. Do you understand your child of God?

  347. You're fully. Mm.

  348. Finally free from sin. You're free from old failure in

  349. the flesh, free from all temptation, to send free from

  350. all, trials and troubles and thus, like free from Fear free,

  351. from worry, free from p and freed.

  352. You, enjoy all that. God has or all that God has for

  353. you. In Christ free to enjoy Christ

  354. of list of Greek. This is the create Focus.

  355. This is the hope of eternal life that we have in Christ.

  356. I want you to think of the feature of this hoop to eternal

  357. life, as I've tried to emphasize that who was here, and I in Hope

  358. of eternal life. It's about the present time.

  359. You see? It's at this moment.

  360. Remember job. He lost all that.

  361. He had the farm as fortunate as family think of his body, wreck

  362. with pee in his mind, he couldn't sleep.

  363. Maybe you're listening to me right now and you're not able to

  364. sleep, but listen to what job was able to say over there in

  365. Job, chapter 19, and in the verse 25, he said this for, I

    Job 19 chapter mention

  366. know that my redeemer liveth and that he shall stand at the

  367. latter day upon the Earth and though after my skin worms,

  368. destroy this body and my flesh shall I see God whom I shall see

  369. for myself and mine eyes, Shall Behold and not another though my

  370. reans be consumed with an you see.

  371. He felt his heart and mind with the promise that he possess my.

  372. That's the feature that we should focus on that features

  373. rooted in. What God has promised, God has

  374. purchased and crate, God has pervaded and Christ.

  375. And he was gripped with a confident, expectation of not

  376. fulfillment. Very quickly.

  377. Here's the fourth, thought the foundation of this hope what's

  378. it? Founded on if you go back to

  379. Colossians to Colossians chapter 1, and it says in verse 1 and 2

    Colossians 1 chapter mention

  380. on the acknowledging of the truth, which is after godliness

  381. and hope of eternal life. You see there's a link here, the

  382. foundation of those hope to eternal life is rooted in the

  383. truth of the Gospel. It rests are not impregnable

  384. Foundation, the Sea of and work of Jesus Christ.

  385. Just, as I've said, Christ was born for us.

  386. Lived, for us, died for us. Rose again for us, ascended, for

  387. us, we're seated and him. He intercedes for us.

  388. We can lay hold of crais as person is purpose, as Pasha and

  389. his power, his pardon Christ is praying for you right now.

  390. You're on his heart, he Bears you up on his shoulders and that

  391. hope is meant to be an anchor to the soul.

  392. You see how many people has the journey through life?

  393. With no hope. Maybe lose their job.

  394. They lose their health and use their money.

  395. Their loved ones are taken away, they lose their reputation to

  396. lose their respect. What does it rest on?

  397. At rest, the nest, no matter what happens on the journey.

  398. Because you've got an anchor to the soul, which is Christ.

  399. And no matter what change takes, please?

  400. You rest and not saving work of Christ.
