  1. Amen. We'll turn now to God's Word,

  2. and I want to read from the book of Titus, Titus chapter 1.

    Titus 1 chapter mention

  3. There's only three chapters in Titus.

  4. Titus chapter 1. Titus is a pastor of the church.

    Titus 1 chapter mention

  5. He's one of Paul's converts and Paul has left him in a island of

  6. Crete which is in the Mediterranean and he's looking

  7. after the work of God there. So that just gives you a wee bit

  8. of background. Titus chapter 1 and we'll read

    Titus 1 chapter mention

  9. from verse one. Let's hear God's word reading,

  10. of course from the Authorised Version.

  11. The words will come up and scream for all who are online.

  12. Paul, a servant of God and the Apostle of Jesus Christ,

  13. according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of

  14. the truth which is after godliness, in hope of eternal

  15. life, Which God that cannot lie promised before the world began,

  16. but have in due times manifested His word through preaching,

  17. which is committed unto me according to the commandment of

  18. God our Saviour. To Titus, mine own Son, after

  19. the common feast, grievous mercy and peace from God the Father

  20. and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

  21. For this cause left I thee and Crete, that thou should have set

  22. and order the things which are one thing under thee, and elders

  23. in every city, as I had appointed thee.

  24. If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful

  25. children, not accused of riot or unruly.

  26. For a Bishop must be blameless as the steward of God, not self

  27. willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not

  28. given to filthy looker, but a lover of hospitality, a lover of

  29. good men, super, just, holy, temperate, holding fast the

  30. faithful word, as he had been taught, that he may be able by

  31. sound doctrine book to exhort and to convince the gain Sayers.

  32. For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers,

  33. especially they of the circumcision, whose mouths must

  34. be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which

  35. they ought not for filthy looker's sake.

  36. One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said The

  37. Cretians are always liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

  38. This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply,

  39. that they may be sound in the faith, not giving heed to Jewish

  40. feebles and commandments of men that turn from the truth.

  41. Unto the pure all things are pure, but unto them that are

  42. defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure, but even their

  43. mind and conscience is defied. They profess that they know God,

  44. but in works they deny Him being abominable and disobedient.

  45. And unto every good work reprobate.

  46. Amen. We know that the Lord will stamp

  47. with his own approval and blessing this reading of his own

  48. precious and infallible word. Now my text tonight is taken

  49. from Titus chapter 1 and the verse 16.

    Titus 1 chapter mention

  50. They profess that they know God, but in works they deny him being

  51. abominable, disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

  52. I've entitled the message tonight.

  53. Professor or possessor, which one are you?

  54. Here's a true story. And Ballymena used to be a man

  55. who lived there called Jasper McGowan.

  56. And years ago Jasper McGowan went from different churches.

  57. And if the preacher said something that Jasper didn't

  58. think was right, Jasper showed it up to him.

  59. That's not in the book. That's not in the book.

  60. On one occasion the English man came to Ballymena Town hall.

  61. They were having a religious talk.

  62. I don't know what the subject was, but the man was preaching

  63. away and Jasper kept shouting up to him in a Ballymena accent.

  64. That's not right. That's not in the book, That's

  65. not in the book. Should the man, he start

  66. preaching? He looked down in Jasper's

  67. direction and he says, Excuse me, good man, do you not know

  68. who I am? I'm Professor so and so.

  69. I've got degrees in the subject. I've got letters after mania.

  70. So there's Jasper sitting receiving this from this man.

  71. Jasper shouts up at him. I you might be Professor so and

  72. so, but I'm Possessor McGowan and I have the scriptural

  73. testimony of the Bible and the witness of the Spirit to the law

  74. and to the testimony. If they speak not according to

  75. this word, it is because there's no light in them.

  76. Remember tonight, without the Bible there's no real true

  77. foundation for a basis of true assurance.

  78. Remember tonight that there's a very fine line between the

  79. genuine and the counterfeit, between an individual saying

  80. that they're soundly and solidly converted and simply saying they

  81. are converted. Remember, it's possible even to

  82. give intellectual assent to the things of God, to believe in

  83. your head and the person and work of Jesus Christ, and for

  84. one's heart to remain unchanged, unresponsive and unregenerate.

  85. See the Bible exhorts us to examine ourselves to see whether

  86. we be in the faith over there and 2nd Corinthians and in

  87. chapter 13 and verse 5 we re examine yourselves, whether you

  88. be in the faith, prove your own selves, know ye are not your own

  89. selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates.

  90. We're reminded that one day we will stand before the living and

  91. the true God and his Son Jesus Christ, and we will give an

  92. account of every word and deed that we have done in the body.

  93. 2nd Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 10.

  94. For it must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ,

  95. that everyone may receive the things done in his body

  96. according to that He hath done, whether it be good or bad.

  97. And over there in the book of Romans, in Romans chapter 14, we

    Romans 14 chapter mention

  98. read this in verse 11. For it is written, as I live,

  99. saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue

  100. shall confess to God. So then everyone of us shall

  101. give an account of Himself to God.

  102. And also, if we add in one more scripture in the book of

  103. Hebrews, in Hebrews chapter 4 and the verse 13, we read these

    Hebrews 4 chapter mention

  104. words, listen to the word of God.

  105. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His

  106. sight, but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him

  107. within the half the day. Now here's an appointment that

  108. none of us will miss. One day.

  109. We'll all stand at the judgement and we will give an account.

  110. Now here's the question of questions thought that has

  111. burdened me. Are we ready to give an account

  112. to God? You see, here's Paul the

  113. apostle, and he's writing to Titus.

  114. Titus is in Crete, and he's writing to him to appoint elders

  115. in every city in Crete where there's a New Testament church.

  116. And these elders, of course, have the responsibility for

  117. teaching sound doctrine and of course, individually of being

  118. sound in the faith themselves. And even in the island of Crete

  119. in the 1st century, the apostle Paul saw a spiritual problem in

  120. the church there, a problem that was true then 1st century, but

  121. it's also equally true now, maybe even more prevalent now,

  122. more of a problem now. Look at our text in the book of

  123. Titus, Titus one and verse 16. They profess that they know God,

  124. profession or possessor. Which one are you I want to show

  125. you three things tonight very quickly from this text of

  126. scripture One, the spiritual sickness of the false professor.

  127. They profess that they know God see false professions are a sign

  128. of spiritual sickness in the life and witness of the 1st

  129. century church and also the 21st century church and all over the

  130. United Kingdom tonight, including the sweet province of

  131. Northern Ireland. There's 10s of thousands of

  132. individual who profess to know God as the true and living God.

  133. They profess to know who he is greater and maker.

  134. They profess to know what he's like.

  135. They they profess to know what he's done.

  136. They can quote John 3 and 16. For God so loved the world that

  137. he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him

  138. should not perish, but have everlasting life. 10s of

  139. thousands of these individuals make a claim to being born again

  140. and truly converted and in love with Christ.

  141. We had talked to them, they would argue and say, but we

  142. signed a card, we walked an aisle, we put a hand up in a

  143. meeting. We we said a prayer.

  144. And these individuals, they have a phoney piece.

  145. They have a false assurance. And how do we know it's a phoney

  146. piece? How do we know it's a false

  147. assurance? Here's the answer.

  148. There's a spiritual sickness within their heart.

  149. They profess that they know God, but their works in contrast to

  150. their words, their works condemn them, but in works they deny

  151. him. Now do you feel the force of

  152. that? The reality is that these 10s of

  153. thousands of individual who make this profession, they're not

  154. truly born again. They're not genuinely converted.

  155. They've a name to live, but inwardly they're dead in

  156. trespasses and sins. God has never changed their

  157. heart. Their life hasn't been impacted.

  158. Remember 2nd Corinthians 517? If any man be in Christ, he's a

  159. new creature. All things have passed away and

  160. all things have become new and all things are of God.

  161. See, there's no new life in Christ and we have to ask, well,

  162. where's the evidence of the new life?

  163. Where's your hatred for sin? Where's your love for truth and

  164. righteousness? Where's your love for Christ?

  165. What? Where's your love for the day of

  166. God, the House of God, the Word of God?

  167. Where's your love for the Saints of God?

  168. Where's your love for the souls of it?

  169. Where's your desire for holiness and righteousness?

  170. Where's your desire to obey the Word of God?

  171. See, it is true tonight that we're saved by faith alone.

  172. Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8:00 and 9:00.

    Ephesians 2 chapter mention

  173. For by grace he is saved through faith, and not not of

  174. yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of

  175. works, lest any man should boast.

  176. And Paul adds to that statement by making this statement in

  177. verse 10. For we are his workmanship

  178. created in Christ Jesus on the good works which God had before

  179. deemed that we should walk in them now.

  180. We're not saved by good works. We're saved by faith in Christ

  181. alone. Good works is not the ground of

  182. our salvation. But listen to me carefully.

  183. While we're not saved by good works, we're not saved without

  184. them, because the good works are the evidence or the fruit of

  185. true conversion. Now this is a serious problem.

  186. This is a spiritual sickness. It was true in Paul's day, it's

  187. true in our day. Did you know that the Lord Jesus

  188. Christ devoted loads of time and effort into preaching about this

  189. particular subject? Turn over there to Matthew

    Matthew 7 chapter mention

  190. Chapter 7. Matthew Chapter 7.

    Matthew 7 chapter mention

  191. We'll read in verse four and five, and I just read these out.

  192. Matthew 7, four and five. Or how wilt thou say to thy

  193. brother, Let me pull out the Moat out of thine eye, and

  194. behold, the beam is in thine own eye.

  195. Thy hypocrite first cast out the beam out of thine own eye, and

  196. then shalt thou seek clearly to cast out the Moat out of thy

  197. brother's eye. The Lord Jesus is dealing with

  198. religious hypocrisy. Someone sees something wrong in

  199. somebody's life, and then that individual has got a whole load

  200. more things wrong with their own life but can't see it.

  201. And then remember we read in verse 15, Matthew 7.

  202. Beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep's clothing,

  203. but inwardly they are ravelling wolves.

  204. Here's men who pretend to be sheep, men who come in the guise

  205. of shepherds of the flock. They've got lovely words.

  206. They're very pliable and plausible individuals, but their

  207. real work is to act and behave like a ravelling wolf among

  208. God's people. To change the imagery from the

  209. sheep to the wolf, you've got them verses 16 through to 20.

  210. He says ye shall know them by their fruits.

  211. Do men gather grapes of thorns or figs of thistles?

  212. Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, but a corrupt

  213. tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth

  214. evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good

  215. fruit. Every tree that bringeth not

  216. forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.

  217. Notice this verse, verse 20. Wherefore by their fruits ye

  218. shall know them. He's thinking about the bad

  219. tree. Good tree analogy.

  220. Think of grapes and figs, the land of Israel.

  221. When we were there, we had lovely grapes and figs.

  222. They were soft, they were sweet. And I'll tell you something

  223. else, they were sumptuous because once you started eating

  224. 1, you wanted more. I didn't think I'd be a fan of

  225. figs, but they are really, really lovely.

  226. Now, the opposite here is not grapes and figs, but thorns and

  227. thistles. And in a garden, when you've got

  228. thorns and thistles, they're going to tear your hands,

  229. they're going to prick you, they're going to scratch you,

  230. they're going to draw blood. Men don't get caught on a grape,

  231. but they will get caught on a thorn or a Thistle.

  232. Because unlike the grapes and the figs that are soft and sweet

  233. and sumptuous, the thorns and the thistles, they scratch and

  234. tear you. Then the Lord Jesus adds this

  235. verse 21. Not everyone that saith to me,

  236. Lord, Lord, shall enter into the Kingdom of heaven, but either

  237. doeth the will of my Father, which is in heaven.

  238. Many will say to me in that day, Lord Lord, have we not

  239. prophesied in thy name, and in thy name of cast out devils, and

  240. in thy name done many wonderful works?

  241. Notice this verse. And then will I profess unto

  242. them, I never knew you depart from me, ye that were iniquity.

  243. Here's the last day, the day of judgement, that day disappointed

  244. that day when we stand before God and give an account.

  245. And on that day men's destinies are revealed.

  246. On that day men's doom is sealed.

  247. They profess to know him. They call him Lord.

  248. Lord, notice the word many, the multitude, they profess they

  249. prophesied in his name that's preached.

  250. You've got to think about those that occupy the pulpit behind

  251. the secret desk. What they do is they do in his

  252. name, in consideration of his character, in consideration of

  253. his power. Notice this.

  254. They cast out devils in his name.

  255. They've, they've done many wonderful works, whether it's

  256. prayer or alms giving or, or other practical things like

  257. feeding the poor. And yet here's Christ as the

  258. head of the church, the Redeemer and the righteous judge, the

  259. sole king with authority. Notice this, and then will I

  260. profess unto them, I never knew you depart from me ye that work

  261. inequally. You see, when you examine the

  262. book, when you study the characters of the Bible, when

  263. you listen to Christ, you'll discover there's loads of pulse

  264. professors. We could name some Kean Balaam,

  265. Orpa, Judas Iscariot, Simon Magus the name, but some study

  266. the sermons, the preaching ministry of Christ, study the

  267. parables. The parable of the sore wheat

  268. and tares, parable of the Nets, parable of the 10 virgins,

  269. parable of the Baron figurine. All of these rightly studied,

  270. these characters that we have mentioned, these parables that

  271. we have mentioned, they all reveal the same reality that

  272. can't be ignored. And it's this that thousands of

  273. people have made a claim to be saved, but in reality they're

  274. not truly born again. What they have is an outward

  275. empty profession. And one day when they stand

  276. before Christ, and they profess his name, and they tell the Lord

  277. what they have done in his name, preached and cast out devils,

  278. and done many wonderful works, and they're pleased with

  279. themselves. And they're standing there

  280. proudly smiling and looking into his face.

  281. And then the bombshell drops. And then will I say unto them, I

  282. never knew you. You profess me, but I don't

  283. profess you. Depart from me.

  284. And here's the reason ye that work iniquity.

  285. Could you imagine this? Now I'm going to say this, This

  286. is going to shock you. But 10s of thousands of

  287. professing Christians could end up in hell. 10s of thousands of

  288. professing Christians in our United Kingdom could end up in

  289. hell. Not just the atheist and the

  290. agnostic and the Pagan and the alcoholic and the drug addict,

  291. but 10s of thousands of religious people who are the

  292. name of Christ and their lips. All the false preachers and

  293. prophets, the false cults and false religions.

  294. But I tell you tonight that the evangelical church is not immune

  295. from this sickness. Isn't it very difficult to

  296. engage in evangelism today? We're right in the doors, we're

  297. on the streets, you're in the workplace, you're on the sea of

  298. people that you speak to invite along to the gospel mission or

  299. to hear the gospel. They flag up certain people who

  300. claim to be born again. They tell you, in their

  301. estimation, these people are not truly converted.

  302. They couldn't be genuinely saved.

  303. Why they they flag up dodgy dealing.

  304. They flag up particular practises.

  305. So you've ordered a tonne of coal.

  306. That's 20 bags. Yeah, 20 bags.

  307. I'm right. And you only get 19.

  308. So you paid for a tonne, but you only get 19.

  309. Or you've ordered 800 litres of oil and you only get 850.

  310. Or maybe you've ordered 25 tonne of stone, whatever one of them

  311. big lorries holes and you only get 24.

  312. Or maybe you're buying a second hand car and you discover that

  313. the clock has been reset. You see that's a dodgy oil

  314. dealer, a dodgy coal merchant, A dodgy quarry master, a a a dodgy

  315. car dealer. And then these individuals who

  316. profess the name of Christ, they offer you a tract, they they

  317. invite you, your family to some particular meeting and you doubt

  318. the validity of their claim. And your attitude is this well

  319. of so and so. And this is what we've said to

  320. Noel and us and the doors. If so and so is a Christian, I

  321. want nothing to do with it. And we have to tell such

  322. individuals, you're right, they're not new creatures.

  323. You're right, they don't have a heart for God.

  324. You're right, their heart has not changed and transformed.

  325. But remember, you'll stand before God and not give an

  326. account for them. You'll give an account for their

  327. self. And far too many professing

  328. Christians who name the name of Christ, they're guilty of the

  329. works of the flesh. And if you want to know what the

  330. works of the flesh are, read Galatians chapter 5, verses 19

    Galatians 5:19–22

  331. to 22. Not the works of the Spirit or

  332. the fruit of the Spirit. You see what I'm trying to say

  333. tonight is this. That which is genuine has its

  334. counterfeits. There's counterfeit goods all

  335. over this country sitting in different warehouses.

  336. Go up the nuts corner, go to Jonesboro Market.

  337. You can buy a fake watch, you can get dodgy alcohol, you can

  338. get fake cigarettes. Going to holidays on the beach?

  339. Somebody comes up and you want to buy a Rolex 100 lbs too good

  340. to be true. Do you want to buy a set of

  341. Rayburns for your eyes? You see, all that is genuine has

  342. its counterfeits. And I want to tell you tonight,

  343. the devil has his counterfeits inside the church.

  344. They're not real Christians, they're not true and genuinely

  345. born again of the Spirit. They profess what that they know

  346. God, but as the Bible says here, but in works they deny him

  347. because the works that they manifest, they're the works of

  348. the flesh. The spiritual sickness of the

  349. false professor. Very quickly, the spiritual

  350. specifics of the false professor.

  351. Look at our texts. They profess that they know God.

  352. They profess they know who God is and what God is like and what

  353. God has done. They profess God as creator and

  354. maker, sustainer and provider, Redeemer and judge.

  355. They even profess that they believe in God's works of

  356. Providence, profess that they believe in God's work of

  357. redemption. They believe that God divinely

  358. intervened in our world. The incarnation of Christ, the

  359. sinless life is a dawning death is partly resurrection.

  360. They might name the name of Christ, even profess him as

  361. their saviour. They profess all that they

  362. ascribe to it, that is to give mental assent.

  363. They're saying I believe this, I believe the Bible.

  364. But the key is not do you profess to know God, but does

  365. God know me? Does Jesus Christ know you?

  366. And that last day he will say, And then I will profess unto

  367. them, I never knew you. We were singing, I am his, and

  368. he is mine. Isaiah 43 And one says, I've

  369. called thee by thy name, Thou art mine.

  370. They profess to know God very quickly.

  371. They profess to follow God. See many who profess the name of

  372. God and Christ, they engage in religious performances and

  373. duties. They're religious, but not

  374. regenerate. A man by the name of Jordan

  375. Khan, wee man from India, believe he was in the martyrs at

  376. one time, you Doctor Paisley, he wrote a book, little book in

  377. Christianity or in Christ. And there's a vast difference.

  378. See, many of these religious people, they're in Christianity,

  379. they they move and live and and work in Christian circles.

  380. But being in Christianity is not the same as being in Christ.

  381. In Christ as appalling free as 90 times, it means being in a

  382. saving, special spiritual relationship with Christ. 10s of

  383. thousands in the church, that's great, but they're not in

  384. Christ. That's the difference.

  385. That's as different as choc, as cheese, black as white, night as

  386. day. 10s of thousands profess to follow Christ, but they've never

  387. truly found them as Lord and Saviour. 10s of thousands

  388. profess to believe in Christ, but they've never bowed the

  389. need. They've never come and said

  390. Lord, I'm a guilty, vile, hell deserving Sinner.

  391. I am nothing, I have nothing. I can do nothing to recommend

  392. myself to you. I'm a spiritual beggar Lord, I

  393. need to be saved. They've never bowed the knee.

  394. You know many find comfort in the doors of the church, but not

  395. in Christ the door. Let let me explain for a little

  396. minute. Many who are in Christianity,

  397. they love getting into a church building.

  398. In the church building they have a good feeling sense of peace

  399. brings all we better comfort and can this into their soul.

  400. They would tell you something has been done to them and they

  401. talk about the music, might be Beethoven, it might be Handel's

  402. Messiah, it might be Johan Bach. They talk about the

  403. architecture, maybe the choir singing, stained glass windows,

  404. the order of service, the list of responses that they have to

  405. go through the pictures and statutes.

  406. They have a feeling of peace, a false assurance in Christianity,

  407. in the doors of the church, but they haven't got true peace with

  408. God because the Bible says therefore have been justified by

  409. faith. We have peace with God for your

  410. Lord Jesus Christ. They haven't got the peace of

  411. God in trials and troubles. What's the problem?

  412. Well, here's the problem over there in the book of Matthew in

  413. Matthew Chapter 7, sorry, Matthew chapter 15 verses 7 and

Matthew 7 chapter mention Matthew 15:7

  414. 8, the Lord Jesus said these words.

  415. They're quoted from Isaiah chapter 29 and verse 13, an Old

    Isaiah 29 chapter mention

  416. Testament reference. Here's the New Testament

  417. reference, ye hypocrites. Well did Isaiah's prophets.

  418. I have you saying this people draws nigh unto me with their

  419. mouth, and their honour of me with their lips, but their heart

  420. is far from me. These people profess not only to

  421. know God and to follow God, but to work for God.

  422. They have a form of godliness, but they deny the power they're

  423. of. There's a powerlessness so

  424. prevalent in our day. Here they are talking about

  425. doing wonderful things in his name, busy in the church

  426. activities. There's preaching, casting out

  427. devils, supernatural, many wonderful things, prayers, alms,

  428. soup kitchens, humanitarian aid, charity.

  429. But you look a wee bit closer, you'll also have to find and you

  430. will discover lots of superstition.

  431. How many people today like to have a cross in their garden or

  432. they go on their holidays, make the sign of the cross when they

  433. get into the plane or on a car journey or going on to a

  434. football field or a sporting fixture?

  435. Do you ever see them? There's loads of statues now

  436. being erected in different places around this province.

  437. It's interesting that John Knox, he was in a galley ship, I think

  438. he was still unsaved and there was a storm and he was handed a

  439. statue of the Virgin Mary and he was told to pray to her for

  440. safety. He threw her overboard.

  441. This is what he said, let her sink or swim, let her save

  442. herself. I will not pray to that which is

  443. so superstitious because true prayer has to be offered to God

  444. alone. I want to tell you, in the 21st

  445. century, never mind the 15th century, Mary auditory is alive

  446. and well. We've seen that with Pope

  447. Francis, we're seeing it more and more and we'll see it more

  448. and more with Pope Leo. And it's all just religious

  449. superstition. And how many people would tell

  450. you if you drop a fork you have to put salt over your shoulder

  451. or don't walk under a ladder. And then of course the big

  452. boogie is, well, babies that are born will have to get them

  453. baptised, have to get them done. But it's not baptism that saves

  454. the children, it's the blood of Christ.

  455. Water doesn't do any good, neither to an adult or to a

  456. baby, even a covenant baby, Taylor said.

  457. It's not by works of righteousness, which we have

  458. done, but according to his mercy he have saved us.

  459. You see, here's the problem. Even though they profess to know

  460. God and follow God and work for God, there's no evidence of true

  461. saving faith. There's no compliment of true

  462. works. I want to finish the spiritual

  463. sentence of the false professor. Notice these words.

  464. But in works they deny him being abominable and disobedient.

  465. And unto every good work reprobate.

  466. The word abominable means detestable.

  467. These people have a high opinion of oneself.

  468. They think they're a big shot. They're full of pride and

  469. they're forgotten that they're really poor and needy sinners.

  470. They're forgotten that God can really see them.

  471. This is how he's describing them, but in works they deny him

  472. how being abominable they they, they shouldn't have a high

  473. opinion of themselves, but they do.

  474. And then to add to that, and disobedient.

  475. In other words, they're LED astray from God's commands.

  476. Isn't it interesting that shepherds lead the sheep?

  477. The sheep love to be LED, love to find food, have a place of

  478. rest. They enjoy the peace and

  479. tranquillity that they love being under the shepherd's

  480. tender care. They love his provision.

  481. They they delight to hear his voice and follow him.

  482. But the goats are different. The goats are the opposite.

  483. The goats love and live to go astray and and they're

  484. disobedient to the shepherd's voice.

  485. That's the picture there. Not only do they have a high

  486. opinion of themselves, but they're easily LED astray from

  487. that which they are supposed to do.

  488. And notice this other word as we finish.

  489. And unto every good work, reprobate.

  490. That word reprobate means unqualified.

  491. Think of a big stone, been into a building and here's the

  492. builder coming along and he's picking the stones say for the

  493. foundation or for the superstructure.

  494. And if it's a bad stone, if it cracks and fractures do he puts

  495. a big A on it. That stands for a dokanos, which

  496. which really means reprobate, which really means unfit, which

  497. really means disqualified. We're we're conscious of

  498. qualifications, aren't we? There's health standards for

  499. hygiene in kitchens, and Brother Alan here knows all about

  500. engineering standards. When you're working with

  501. machines that they have to be a certain grade of part put in.

  502. If it's substandard, that part will be disqualified because he

  503. could breakdown the whole thing. Well, that's the point.

  504. The spiritual sentence of the false professor is that their

  505. words and works don't match in works.

  506. They deny him because they have a high opinion of themselves.

  507. They're full of pride, they're easily LED astray from His

  508. commandments and His word, and they're really unqualified and

  509. unfit to stand in His presence. Let me tell you this, as we

  510. finish and our time has gone, we'll not sing the closing hymn.

  511. I will get a TikTok thing sent to me about a girl that

  512. professed to have died and professed to have seen angels

  513. coming to gather her and take her towards heaven.

  514. And after a few minutes the angels disappeared and the light

  515. disappeared and the darkness came.

  516. And then these she said in her dream, demons appeared.

  517. She could hear the rattling of the chains and she was

  518. professing as they were dragging her along the road.

  519. She was saying, but I don't want to go to hell.

  520. I'm saved. I've asked Jesus into my heart.

  521. And then she heard the words of Matthew Chapter 7, verse 23.

    Matthew 7:23

  522. And I'll profess unto them, I never knew you'd depart from me

  523. either. Work in equity.

  524. And she cried out, Well, what's my chief sin?

  525. Lord, she got the answer. You're full of pride.

  526. And she woke up in her bed crying.

  527. And she got down on her knees and she cried out, Lord of mercy

  528. in me, if my heart and mind is full of pride, then I repent of

  529. that. Lord, help me to get the

  530. victory. Help me to humble myself before

  531. you See, that's really what we're talking about here.

  532. There's a sentence for those that do not repent.

  533. And I would urge you tonight to search your heart.

  534. I would urge you tonight to put away sin.

  535. I would urge you tonight to humble yourself before God.

  536. I would urge you tonight to live in personal communion and

  537. fellowship with God. I would urge you tonight to

  538. focus on Christ and ask yourself this, How does God see me?

  539. I profess to know Him, but do I deny Him in my works because I'm

  540. guilty of the works of the flesh, guilty of iniquity?

  541. Does he say that I'm abominable, disobedient and reprobate?

  542. I have a high opinion of myself. I'm disobedient, easily LED

  543. astray, and I'm unfit and unqualified because I have a

  544. love for sin, not a love for the Saviour.

  545. I believe we really have to search our hearts.

  546. Here's the challenge. The professor or the possessor,

  547. which one of you? May the Lord take His word and

  548. apply it to our hearts this evening.
