-
Well, we want to thank Sir for coming thinking so well to us
-
here today. That was lovely and it was
-
really enjoyed our ministry and song real blessing really to
-
your own heart and it's it's wonderful to sing of Christ and
-
I trust everyone of us here was blessed as we listened to her
-
sister sing tonight. Thank you for coming along to
-
the mission. No better place to be at this
-
particular time in this community and than being in the
-
gospel mission, singing the old fashioned gospel hymns and
-
listen to the singing. And I trust then also the
-
preaching of the word of God and let's pray together.
-
Let's work together and seek to get people onto the sound of the
-
gospel at this time. Now we're going to turn just to
-
our our reading. It's in book of Second
2 Corinthians 5 chapter mention
-
Corinthians chapter 5. For time's sake, we're just
-
going to read our text tonight and 2nd Corinthians chapter 5
-
and the verse 17 is really the text I want to to look at here
-
tonight. 2nd Corinthians 5 verse 17.
-
And Paul here is saying he says, therefore, if any man be in
-
Christ, he's a new creature. All things are passed away.
-
Behold, all things are become new and we we have here a new
-
creature, a new creature that's brought before.
-
Let's look to the Lord for his help tonight.
-
Father in Heaven, we thank you for the already being in this
-
meeting, the blessing of being in your presence, and for
-
helping our sisters sing so well to us and the sing of Christ.
-
Well, thank you. We have a great Redeemer who
-
walks with us and he talks with us these facts.
-
He says I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.
-
I pray for help around thy word. I pray you'll speak to anyone,
-
Lord, who is in here tonight and I'll see it.
-
Maybe there's someone home and they're watching and they're not
-
saved. Lord deed with them wherever
-
they are tonight, call them to the Lord Jesus that they might
-
be saved. Amen.
-
Amen. Therefore, if any man be in
-
Christ, he is a new creature. You and I know living in this
-
day and age, there are many great deceptions.
-
Of course, with the progress of modern technology, men are able
-
to produce counterfeits that even an expert would have great
-
difficulty noticing. There's counterfeits cover every
-
area. I came across something there
-
today. Some man was found I think
-
around Belfast or some area and his house was full of
-
counterfeits. He had handbags, he had watches,
-
he had everything. And so we're in this day and
-
age, the counterfeit is very easy to come across.
-
In fact, sometimes we go into the shop and it says beware of
-
counterfeit 20 LB notes. So counterfeit's all around us.
-
Let me say this tonight. It's the same with the spirits
-
of things of the Lord. We are living in a day of many
-
counterfeits. Think for instance, the
-
counterfeit servants of so-called of the Lord because
-
there are many, there are many today who claim to be a servant
-
of the Lord and they stand up and they seek to preach, to say
-
they believe in God. They have a Bible, they have a
-
congregation. And yet the Lord Jesus Christ
-
said in Matthew 7 verse 15, beware of false prophets.
-
And so when you think of them all around our land today, there
-
are many people. There are many people and
-
they're listening. They're listening to a their
-
feet servant, a false message, the preach false, a counter, a
-
counterfeit messages, counterfeit spirit.
-
The Bible talks and Corinthians about you've received another
-
spirit. There's a spirit abroad today.
-
There are people saying they're speaking in tongues.
-
They're doing signs and wonders and all of these things and
-
there's a counterfeit spirit going today.
-
You only have to go on to YouTube when you type in some
-
names of some fellows, which on that name and there's some of
-
the things that's going on in a service, you wouldn't believe
-
it. They're dancing in the pews.
-
They're falling all over the place.
-
They're gigging and laughing. They're roaring about like dogs
-
or cows and they say, well, this is the work of the Spirit of
-
God. Well, I want to tell you
-
tonight, that is not true. That is not true.
-
That's not the work of the Spirit of God.
-
There's a counterfeit Saviour because 2nd Corinthians 11 verse
-
four, he says for he the cometh preaches another Jesus whom we
-
have not preached. There are people today and
-
they're preaching another Jesus, not the Jesus of the Bible.
-
The Jehovah Witness have another Jesus.
-
The Mormons, they have another Jesus.
-
The Church of Rome have another Jesus, Islam, they have another
-
Jesus. They have not got the Christ of
-
the Bible. So there are counterfeits.
-
There are counterfeits all around the day when we come to
-
the things of God. Now I want to say tonight, it's
-
the same thing about salvation. There's a counterfeit today.
-
The counterfeit evasive believe ISM just go to some particular
-
church and so on, and everything will be well with your soul and
-
you'll get to heaven. And yet we find the Lord Jesus
-
saying of a group of people who come before them in Matthew 7
-
verse 23. Then while I profess unto them,
-
I never knew you depart from me ye that work in iniquity.
-
Here's a a great multitude who come before the Lord Jesus
-
Christ and he looks him in the eye and he says to them, depart
-
from me. I never knew you.
-
They had the counterfeit. I want you to see that tonight
-
they had the counterfeit. It's not that they didn't
-
believe in a God. It's not that they didn't
-
believe in a person of the Lord Jesus Christ, but they had the
-
counterfeit, A counterfeit salvation that I want everyone,
-
everyone in this hall tonight, in this church tonight to have
-
the real thing. We want a salvation that's real.
-
We want a salvation that saves. That's the salvation we want.
-
We don't want to counterfeit. We don't want to end up like
-
these people in Matthew Chapter 7 and to come before the Lord
Matthew 7 chapter mention
-
Jesus Christ on the last day. And he looks at us and he says,
-
depart from me. I never knew you.
-
We want a true salvation. We want a real salvation, and
-
that's we have come to preach in this community at this time.
-
Well, this whole thing about a real salvation, a true salvation
-
has brought before us here in the words of the Apostle Paul.
-
Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he's a new creature.
-
Old things are passed away and all things become new.
-
And I want to say just a number of things very quickly.
-
The position that the centre must be in.
-
I want you to see tonight where you must be if you're ever going
-
to be in heaven and if you're ever going to be saved, if
-
everlasting life. The apostle Paul here brings it
-
out so clear, we cannot miss it. The position you must be is US.
-
He must be in Christ. Now I want you to get that
-
tonight. If you want heaven, if you want
-
forgiveness of sins, if you want everlasting life, you must be in
-
Christ. This is the position, This is
-
the place to be, to be saved. Now I want to sell this.
-
In all other religions, there's no mention of people being
-
placed in a person. That's not the case.
-
No, think of Muslims. They're not placed in Muhammad.
-
They're following Muhammad. You think of the Mormons,
-
they're they're not placed in Joseph Smith.
-
But no, no, they're following Joseph Smith.
-
There's Jehovah's Witnesses in the sense they're not really
-
placed in the Watchtower, but they're following the teachings
-
of the Watchtower. So here is true Christianity,
-
true Christianity, and a true Christian one who's really
-
saved. He's in a place, he's in a
-
person. What is that?
-
Who is that person, the Lord Jesus Christ?
-
And I want to say that on a shame of The Tonight, there's no
-
other one can save you. And if you're in any other place
-
tonight, you'll not be saved. Don't care how good it is.
-
Don't care tonight how good it sounds if you're not in Christ,
-
you're not going to heaven, you're not forgiven if any man
-
be in Christ, I want you to see that he does not speak about
-
being in a church. Now certainly it's important
-
that a person is in church and why everybody rise on the on the
-
Sabbath day and go to the true House of God to listen to the
-
preaching of the word of God. But it doesn't speak about being
-
in a church that'll save you, doesn't speak about being a
-
Christian home. And that's a blessing.
-
Some of us didn't have that privilege of being brought up in
-
a Christian home. But maybe you have, you know,
-
what's a real privilege and a real blessing.
-
It's one of them to bring the children up and to teach them
-
the things of God and the way of salvation.
-
That's why I ought to bring up my children.
-
I was with my wee grandchildren the other day.
-
I was staying overnight. Sometimes I preach around that
-
way and I stay overnight and so on.
-
And day I got talking to my wee granddaughter and we're talking
-
about the things that Bible and I was throwing out question
-
after question after question. Tell her and you know something
-
she's just throwing the answer certainly gets here.
-
I was real private to know she'd been taught the Bible, the way
-
of salvation. It's in the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
It doesn't speak just about being being in a family that's
-
important that's a blessing or just about believing about Lord
-
Jesus Christ. It doesn't speak about being in
-
baptism and there are many people there are many people has
-
been in the tank in a sense and many people has been through the
-
waters, but they've never been saved, never been saved.
-
Therefore, if any man notice tonight the word of God be in
-
Christ, that's the place. Thus a person that you need to
-
be in to be saved. That's where you need to be and
-
the Lord Jesus Christ is Christ. We're not here to preach a
-
church. We're not here to preach
-
ordinances here tonight. Why?
-
They're all important in their own place.
-
It's Christ and that is a distinct position, a different
-
position because think of this, the Sinner is not in Christ in
-
this natural state. He's not there at all.
-
He's without Christ. You think there are in Ephesians
-
2 verse 12. And at that time you were
-
without Christ. There are people tonight, they
-
say I haven't got a home, I haven't got money, I haven't got
-
a friend, I haven't got a husband, I haven't got a wife
-
from Abbey. They say all of these things.
-
Here's the most miserable position to be ever in in this
-
world, to be without Christ. The person who's not saved is
-
without him, without the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
And the talks are in force, Corinthians 15, verse 22 about
-
the Sinner being an Adam, being an Adam.
-
Here we find the Christian, here we find here in the word of the
-
living God here tonight the position that the Sinner must be
-
in. He must be in Christ.
-
That's where salvation is. The apostle Paul speaks here,
-
verse 14 and 50 about the death of the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
He speaks about the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
He shed his precious blood. It's the same message for all
-
people. One person said every man must
-
be in Christ in order to be saved.
-
And then he said it matters not who he may be.
-
No man may become a Christian and any other methods.
-
Don't do that tonight. There is no other way of
-
becoming a Christian other than through the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
And that's the position you must be in if any man be in Christ.
-
Here's a question tonight. Are you in Christ?
-
Are you saved? Have you repented?
-
Are you trusting the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour?
-
Can you say he's all I'm depending on?
-
I put my faith in Him, I trust in Him.
-
I need no other argument and I need no other plea.
-
It is enough that Jesus died and that he died for me.
-
This is the position you must be in to be saved.
-
And I say it again and just not being repetitive, there's no
-
other place to be. There's no other saviour.
-
I don't care what you said tonight.
-
I don't say no. You said we know where it is
-
tonight. There's no other place.
-
There's no other one. Sometimes we get channels.
-
How do you know? How do you know that your
-
religion is a true religion? How do we know?
-
Because the Bible, the Bible tells us so.
-
So the position the centre must be in, in Christ, there are
-
people tonight in this community, might be in the
-
meeting, might be listening, they're in the world, they're in
-
sin, they need to come to Christ.
-
Are you in Christ tonight? Can you say that?
-
Have you come to him? Have you trusted him?
-
The position the centre must be in.
-
Then there is the power that the centre must experience because
-
to become a Christian you made something.
-
I want you to see this tonight, a new creature, a new creature.
-
How amazing. God makes things new, and this
-
is a divine work. This is something God does.
-
We have a mighty God, We have a great God, a great Saviour, and
-
he makes people, He makes sinners into Saints.
-
This is a divine work. We think here tonight, who made
-
the world? Who made the world?
-
Well, some people believes in the monkey business, evolution
-
and all the rest of it, but we believe the Bible in the
-
beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
-
God made it. In chapter 1 of Genesis first
-
three, it says God said let there be light and there was
-
light and there was no one to help them as God made it.
-
In Isaiah 44 verse 24, here's 1 you can really imagine to
-
Jehovah's Witnesses because when you tell him the Bible says that
-
Jesus Christ made the world, you know what to say to you.
-
Oh he, he helped God, he helped God.
-
But here's a verse that destroys their argument because in Isaiah
-
44 verse 24, thus saith the Lord thy Redeemer, and he that formed
-
thee from the womb, I am a Lord that maketh all things.
-
Do you hear Him? I am a Lord that maketh all
-
things, that stretches forth the heavens alone, that spreadeth
-
abroad the earth by myself. Do you see what God says?
-
The heavens, I did it alone. And you see the earth.
-
This earth, He says, I did it myself.
-
Myself and so when we come to the Bible, we find here it is
-
God and God alone, God and God alone that made the universe.
-
I say here tonight, God made this creation.
-
God makes a new creation. He does it.
-
He takes a Sinner and he makes them into a new creature.
-
Remember it says in John chapter one verse 12 and verse 13 making
-
of receiving Christ, but as many as receive him to then give he
-
the power to become the sons of God, even to them which believe
-
in his name, which were born out of blood, nor of the will of the
-
flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
-
Here tells us how's a person made a child of God?
-
How are they made a new creature born of God?
-
Remember, remember the words the Lord Jesus said to that
-
religious man, Nicotemus. Nicotemus, you have religion and
-
you have religion up your neck, but you must you must be born
-
again. You must be made a new creature.
-
And if I will be saved, you can't save yourself.
-
If I won't be saved, God doesn't, and he make you a new
-
creature. Here's a divine work, a
-
difficult work. The creating of the world was a
-
very difficult work. Thomas Watson said when God made
-
the world, he met with no opposition.
-
But when God is about to make a new creature, Satan and the
-
heart opposing the fight against him, the Sinner doesn't want
-
God. They don't want him.
-
They don't want the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
They don't want to hear the gospel, they don't want to leave
-
their sin. They don't want to repent.
-
They don't. We sing sometimes, but the Lord
-
Jesus coming into her heart, they don't want Christ.
-
They don't want them in their heart.
-
They don't want them in their life.
-
So this is something that's difficult.
-
There's opposition. There is a hardness in the life
-
of the Sinner. He refuses to obey the word of
-
God. He runs away from the presence
-
of the Lord. He doesn't want them.
-
And you remember saying, well, I'm trying to get my my family
-
to this mission. I'm trying to get my workmates.
-
I'm trying to get my friends to come and they won't come.
-
They run, they they harden their hearts.
-
They have no Winterson coming. And that is the natural heart of
-
a Sinner. That was my heart at one time.
-
That child of God before you were converted, that was your
-
heart at one time as well. That's all this hardeners of
-
heart. What about the wickedness of the
-
heart? Remember in challenges 6, verse
-
5 and God looked down the time before the flood and he saw that
-
the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and every
-
imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only able to
-
continue like that's a long time ago.
-
And God looked at it. The world was full of wickedness
-
and the world was full of sin. It hasn't changed.
-
Still the same terrible things is happening all over the world
-
today. Man's heart is full of
-
wickedness. Man's heart is full of sin.
-
And yet here's a wonderful thing.
-
God can make him a new person. God can do that the worst the
-
scum of the earth. God can do this in the darkness
-
of people's hearts too. And the amazing thing about it,
-
they love the darkness because in John 3 verse 19, this is the
-
condemnation that light has come into the world.
-
Notice, and men love darkness rather than light because their
-
deeds were evil. They love the darkness.
-
And when they come to meetings like this, they come face to
-
face with the light of the gospel.
-
That's why they don't want to come to gospel meetings and they
-
love the darkness. And the Lord has overcome all
-
these things before He can make a new creature.
-
Is your heart hard tonight? You send all I wish I was early
-
this meeting. I love my back.
-
I come in to hear the gospel and I can't wait till this meeting
-
goes hard and I love me back. Your heart is hard.
-
Don't harden your heart against God.
-
Is your heart full of sin tonight?
-
Heart full of darkness. You see, here's a power here of
-
the gospel. God can make a new creation, and
-
He does it of course through Christ.
-
Thomas Watson again said to cost God nothing to make the world,
-
but to make new creatures cost. The shedding of Christ's blood
-
has only begotten Son. Think of cross, think of Calvary
-
tonight, the Lord Jesus dying to make us new creatures, to bring
-
us to God, the Son of God who loved me and give himself for
-
me. This is the teaching of the
-
Bible. It's a difficult work, but God
-
can do it. And I want you to see this
-
tonight. God can save you.
-
You're not so far away tonight, down in your sin, where God
-
cannot reach you, where he cannot change you, where he
-
cannot save you, He can do this. He can make you a new person.
-
Do you believe it tonight? I believe it.
-
He did it for me. He did it for me.
-
Everyone, Mr McLaughlin, call all the ones in this meeting.
-
Here's the work God can do. Don't be without hope tonight.
-
Don't be cast down and lost in your sin tonight in this
-
meeting. There's power in Jesus blood.
-
God can make you a new person, a delightful work that says he
-
makes up a new, a new creature. It's not man being modified away
-
better. A few alterations may tell him
-
it's not the old man improved. He can't really improve the old
-
man at all. He had to destroy him.
-
But he makes a new man, a new man.
-
He puts a new man in a suit, maybe the same old suit.
-
You saw him. That's what he does.
-
But a new heart. I think he'll talk to him
-
because I put a new heart within them.
-
A new tongue. Psalm 41st 3.
-
He has put a new song in my mouth that wonderful.
-
Before we were converted, we used to sing the songs of the
-
world. I used to love Alba, Status Quo,
-
Make Loaf, all those groups before I got converted.
-
And once I got converted, I started to sing hymns and songs
-
and all of these things. Our sister sang song from there.
-
Tonight he walks with me and he talks with me.
-
When I first heard those things as a young Christian, a new
-
tongue, I do that for you tonight, New Year's, What Lord
-
will they have me to do? New fate, your run after
-
righteousness or run away from sin, New hands, your work from
-
God. Oh, here's something.
-
Here's the life of work. And they say again, the Lord can
-
do this for you tonight in this meeting, I can do this.
-
This is the power you must experience a new creature born
-
again of a spirit of God. God can do this and God can do
-
it for you. There are people tonight, no
-
doubt in this whole community, held by drugs, held by
-
immorality, held by booze, depressed.
-
There are no hope, no hope and there they go day after day,
-
held by sin, following the devil, heading down towards
-
hell, lost. But here's good news of the
-
gospel. Christ can save them, he can
-
change them. There's power in Jesus blood
-
tonight and that's the power he can experience and make a new
-
creature, say to some people sometimes, do you really want
-
your life just to go on the way it's going?
-
You've lived so many years in the world, you've lived in sin.
-
Is that how you want to go on every year?
-
That's what you want. Just get up, live for the world,
-
live for sin, miserable, cast down, lost.
-
Is that what you want to continue right to the end of
-
your life? I'm asked you tonight, is that
-
what you want? There's a new life for you.
-
There's hope in Jesus Christ and He can save you.
-
He can do this for you. And I trust you've listened to
-
light here. And they meet them.
-
Therefore, of any man being Christ, he's a new creature, a
-
new creation. They do it for you, they do that
-
for you. They wash you in the blood of
-
Jesus Christ. They come into your heart and
-
they make you a new person. They could do that for you
-
tonight. These lessons are taught and
-
found in the gospel of Christ. And they say here the last of
-
the change that the Sinner must have.
-
And not to say this, that's a great change.
-
That's a great change. He's not the same man or woman.
-
We put a woman in here. It's not the person who see it.
-
I'm not the same. You cannot be the same.
-
You cannot be the same. If you're truly repent from your
-
sin and trust Jesus Christ and be washed in his blood and he
-
comes into your heart, you cannot be the same.
-
It's a great change. It's a visible change, one from
-
darkness to light. When Paul was converted, he was
-
so altered that the people who saw him that could scarcely
-
believe he's the same man. What did they say?
-
What did they say when they saw Saul in Acts 9 verse 21, when
-
all they heard him and heard him preaching were amazed and said,
-
is not this he that destroyed them?
-
What's called in this name in Jerusalem and came Hitler for
-
that intent that he might bring them bound on to the Chief
-
Police when they heard him preaching, He's preaching Christ
-
to say this. Is that not the man who came to
-
bind us and to bring us to the Chief Police of castes into
-
prison? It was it was him, but he's a
-
new man and boys, they can see it.
-
You can see it. You see, I think it's all the
-
shows here because all things that says are passed away.
-
There's things have to go. Things have to go.
-
And I want to tell you tonight when you're really saved and
-
trust Christ, they do go. Things are passed away.
-
The views, the opinions, the pleasures, the hopes, the
-
thrusts, the confidence, all go sins and everything goes.
-
And then he says here and behold this word, behold this.
-
This really gets our attention. Behold, well, what?
-
What else have you got to tell us?
-
All things become new. All things become new, New
-
desires, read the Bible, pray, go to church, fellowship, a new
-
destination. Instead of heading down towards
-
hell, you're going home to heaven.
-
All things become new once you get converted.
-
That's the change. A comfort once said out of the
-
world is altered or else I am. And that's true when you get
-
saved. I remember the day I got saved,
-
I walked out. I thought it was the world
-
looked totally different. I had lived in it a number of
-
years beforehand, but it just looked totally different.
-
Something that happened. The Lord Jesus had come into my
-
heart, a great change. He comes out.
-
The Saviour, the Saviour of the world comes in to live and to
-
stay. And the old, new creature, he's
-
not the same man he was. He's have another spirit.
-
It's a permanent change. It's a permanent change.
-
Change enough for six months or six weeks or six years.
-
That's forever. I know people have affairs and
-
leave, but they were never truly converted through conversion
-
lusts. He's a new creature.
-
All things pass away. Behold, all things become new.
-
And here's what I wanted The Lord a sea Spurgeon says he can
-
make thee the greatest of sinners to become the brightest
-
of Saints. Not amazing.
-
You're the greatest Sinner and carried off you send all I feel
-
no hope and some people say this when you get talking about being
-
safe know what to say I couldn't keep it couldn't live the life I
-
would fall I would feel but here's our here's the verse that
-
destroys all excuses that takes away should take away all doubts
-
and all fears. Therefore, if any man be in
-
Christ, he's a new creature. All things are passed away.
-
Behold all things become you. The Lord Jesus will save you,
-
make you a new person, and He'll keep you.
-
You can have that change. Hold on a minute.
-
I'm back where it started tonight.
-
You must have this change. If you want to go to heaven, you
-
must have it. As I already indicate, you must
-
be born again. You must repent.
-
You must trust Christ. Martian closing.
-
Have you trusted Christ? Have you put your faith and
-
trust in Him? And if not, come to him tonight.
-
You'll never regret it. We're going to sing a closing
-
verses in a moment. What a wonderful change in my
-
life has been wrought since Jesus come in to my heart.
-
I've got that peace tonight. All has got that peace tonight.
-
We want you to have this peace tonight, this life that might,
-
this forgiveness that's found in Jesus Christ.
-
He can do it for you. Come down, come down with all
-
your heart and ask Him to save you and he wash away all your
-
sin and give every last life. If any questions, come and speak
-
with me or call Mr McLaughlin as well.
-
We would love to speak with you. Don't go home without Christ.
-
Experience this power tonight. The power of the gospel, the
-
power of the blood of Christ, the power of the Spirit of God.
-
And come to Jesus and he will save you.
-
He'll make you a new person. He'll take you home to heaven.
-
You'll not be in hell where you deserve to be.
-
You'll get everlasting life. Trust Him.
-
Would you trust Him? Would you trust Him to save you?
-
Would you put your faith in Him? I hope you will, and I hope
-
you'll put your faith in the Lord Jesus even this very night.
-
Trust the Lord. Bless those few thoughts tonight
-
to all of our hearts. Thank you very much.
