  1. Turn, please, to Luke's Gospel on the chapter 8, Luke's Gospel

  2. on the chapter 8. I want you to turn there,

  3. please. It's good to be back with you

  4. again here tonight and take part in this gospel mission with our

  5. brother. And to have the preaching of the

  6. Word, It's a great responsibility.

  7. Of course the psalmist said, or rather the apostle said, woe is

  8. unto me if I preach not the gospel.

  9. He felt the necessity LED upon him.

  10. And certainly we can respond to that and say yes, that's the

  11. feeling that we have as well, the responsibility.

  12. Look, chapter 8, we're going to read from the verse 26 and we're

  13. going to read down to the verse 40.

  14. So it's quite a a long reading, some 15 verses in all.

  15. And of course it concerns the Saviour and the disciples who

  16. were with Him in the ship. They have crossed over the sea.

  17. Our Lord has calmed the Great Storm.

  18. Look at verse 26. Looking at it, it says they

  19. arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against

  20. Galilee. And when He went forth the land

  21. there met him out of the city, a certain man, which had devils a

  22. long time, and wore no clothes, neither abode in any house but

  23. in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he cried out

  24. and fell down before him, and with a Lloyd voice said, What

  25. have I to do with thee, Jesus, thy Son of God most High, I

  26. beseech thee, torment me not. For he, that is the Saviour had

  27. commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man, for often

  28. times it had caught him, and he was kept bound with chains and

  29. in fetters, and he braked the bands, and was driven off the

  30. devil into the wilderness. And Jesus asked him, saying,

  31. What is thy name? And he said Legion, because many

  32. devils were entered into him, and they besought him that he

  33. would not command them to go out into the deep.

  34. And there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the

  35. mountain, and they besought him that he would suffer them to

  36. enter into them. And he suffered them.

  37. And when the devils then went, the devils out of the man, and

  38. entered into the swine, and the herd ran violently down a steep

  39. place into the lake, and were choked.

  40. When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled and went and

  41. told it in the city and in the country.

  42. Then they went out to see what was done, and came to Jesus, and

  43. found the man out of whom the devils were departed sitting at

  44. the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind, And they were

  45. afraid. They also which saw it told them

  46. by what means he that was possessed of the devils was

  47. healed. Then the whole multitude of the

  48. country of the Gadarenes roundabout besought him to

  49. depart from them, for they were taken with great fear.

  50. And he went up into the ship, and returned back again.

  51. Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought

  52. him that he might be with him. But Jesus sent him away, saying,

  53. Return to thine own house, and show how great things God hath

  54. done unto thee. And he went his way, and

  55. published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had

  56. done unto him. And it came to pass that when

  57. Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him, for they

  58. were all waiting for him. Amen.

  59. May God bless the public reading of his word.

  60. Let's seek his face. Please excuse me just for a

  61. moment in prayer. Our Father, we are so thankful

  62. tonight that we are found in a gospel meeting in a place where

  63. prayer is want to be made and in a meeting house.

  64. Lord, that was built for this very purpose, that Christ might

  65. be preached, and all his fullness, the sinners in all

  66. their need. I need thy power to preach

  67. tonight, the ready Lord. The scene has been set for the

  68. message, the hymns have been sung, the gospel pieces have

  69. been rendered. Lord all, and which we can

  70. endorse. But now they are has come,

  71. having read the Scriptures, to preach this glorious gospel of

  72. the grace of God. Fill me Lord, with the Spirit of

  73. God, for I am very conscious tonight that without Thee I can

  74. do nothing. But Lord, I have faith, we all

  75. have faith in your word tonight, that I will not return void unto

  76. Thee, but will accomplish that. Whereto thou hast said it, hear

  77. an answer prayer in Jesus name, Amen.

  78. It's the words there of verse 35.

  79. Then they went out. That is, the people came in from

  80. the countryside in the city to see what was done, and they

  81. found the man out of whom the devils were departed.

  82. Listen to what it says, sitting at the feet of Jesus and

  83. clothed, and then his right mind.

  84. By anybody's standards, this case of the madman of Ghadara,

  85. by which he is generally known, is extreme.

  86. I must doubt if you could find anyone who was in a worse case

  87. than this man. We would say it was most

  88. extreme. And the man who brings us this

  89. report of what has happened here is well qualified to do so.

  90. You will notice, first of all, that we read Luke's account, and

  91. Luke was the New Testament historian.

  92. He's the same man that wrote not only the gospel here, gave his

  93. account of it, but he also wrote the book of Acts, the history of

  94. the Apostolic Church. So he's a historian.

  95. He's not trying to sell a newspaper to get money in to

  96. keep the newspaper going. He's not a tabloid writer.

  97. He's a serious historian. And then he's something else.

  98. He was also a medical doctor in Luke Scott or in Colossians, I

  99. should say, chapter 4, verse 14. He has called Luke the beloved

  100. physician. So he had met with a lot of

  101. different cases and he knew were off.

  102. He was speaking. But best of all, best of all,

  103. tonight he was writing under the inspiration of God, not merely

  104. the influence, but the inspiration of the Spirit of God

  105. I am putting to you. He has impeccable qualifications

  106. to bring this story to us. There's nothing here that is

  107. based on rumour. There's nothing here that is

  108. based on legend or tradition. It has not been exaggerated in

  109. any way. There has been no need to space

  110. it up. The recipient of this letter, a

  111. man called philosophists, has been assured that he may know

  112. the certainty of these things in the very details as well as the

  113. substantial story. So here then, we can say his

  114. gospel truth. And if you look at the extremity

  115. of this man's case, it is harrowing reading.

  116. Sometimes we might get very familiar with it.

  117. I've been reading our Bible for years.

  118. We might run very quickly through this, but it's really

  119. harrowing reading. You imagine philosophists

  120. reading this for the first time. And if he had any feelings,

  121. surely it would bring a tear to his eye.

  122. You see this man, this madman at Kedara was first of all verse

  123. 27, a man who was demon possessed.

  124. He was demon possessed. He had been for so long.

  125. It says there verse 27 there for a long time, not only so long,

  126. but so many. In fact, when the demon was

  127. asked, the spokesman for the demon was asked, what is your

  128. name? He said legion because we are

  129. many. And if this term legion is based

  130. on the Roman legion of the occupying army at that time, a

  131. legion at that time had about 6000 members.

  132. Numbers vary, but it's generally around 6000.

  133. Now what were 6000 demons wherein this man is maybe, well,

  134. could could a human body take 6000 demons?

  135. But certainly you can see it is extreme.

  136. Many demons, so many demons possess this man.

  137. Look at verse 27, we discover there that he wear no clothes,

  138. he's running around naked, he is homeless, he has nowhere to

  139. live. And the Bible says he lives in

  140. the tombs. And whilst there might be the

  141. idea there of shelter obviously from the storms and the winds

  142. and the all the elements, I think there is a hellish angle

  143. to this also as well. This is not natural.

  144. Nobody lives among the tombs. Somebody might bury a loved one

  145. that may go regularly to the grave, maybe every week and so

  146. on. That's natural.

  147. But to live among the tombs, to run naked among the tombs, to be

  148. possessed with so many devils, it gets worse there.

  149. Look what it says in the verse 29 there.

  150. Listen to what it says. The devil had caught him.

  151. He was kept bound with chains and in fetters.

  152. Man can't even control him because it says there that he

  153. break the bans. Man can't even control him,

  154. never mind change him. This is one of the saddest cases

  155. you will ever read of in the scriptures or indeed anywhere

  156. else. And then it says there at the

  157. last verse 29, he was driven off the devil, his demon possessed,

  158. hell controls him, and the devil drives him out into the howling

  159. wilderness. This is an extreme key

  160. assessment, extreme in the extreme.

  161. And I'm putting to you tonight as a gospel preacher, that of

  162. Christ can change and save this man, which he did.

  163. Then it must be, as the Bible calls it, salvation to the

  164. uttermost, salvation to the uttermost, salvation to the

  165. extremes. And if he can change this man,

  166. and he did, then he can change you.

  167. We can argue here from the greater to the lesser.

  168. Remember tonight, dear friends, that God, the Bible says he is

  169. rich in mercy. The Bible says he delights in

  170. mercy. So we're standing tonight on

  171. good ground. The details of how Christ saved

  172. this man are given there, and you may just read it over

  173. quickly. Run your eye over it there in

  174. verses 28 to 34 and you can see the comings and the goings that

  175. was there between Christ and the demons that possessed this man.

  176. Don't just note in passing, for we're still in the introduction.

  177. You notice here that Jesus is stronger even than a whole

  178. legion of demons. They have come to him and they

  179. are begging him for a further postponement of judgement.

  180. They're not denying judgements there.

  181. They say to him, have you come the tormentus before the time?

  182. And they recognise him for who he really is.

  183. They call him the Son of God, the Son of God most high.

  184. In other words, Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and He is also

  185. God the Son. In this they are speaking the

  186. truth because they have been compelled to speak the truth.

  187. They are totally under Christ's control.

  188. They can only beseech. They are answerable to Him.

  189. He speaks to them. Verse 29 there or over verse 30,

  190. Jesus asked him to say, What is thy name?

  191. They are compelled to answer to the Saviour because they are

  192. answerable to Him. And then the Lord organises

  193. their evacuation. He gives them leave.

  194. He gives them permission. They go into a herd of swine

  195. that are on the mountainside, and when they go and they

  196. inhabit those swine, the swine run down the steep hill and they

  197. go down and end of the water. Or what splashing there would

  198. be, what squealing there would be, and there's all those

  199. carcasses of the pigs in the water.

  200. It's all in the hands of the Saviour, isn't it?

  201. He's Jesus Christ and mighty to save.

  202. He is mighty deceive. Now we want to look at this text

  203. in verse 35. It's really in the aftermath of

  204. what happens. The word of thus gets out to the

  205. people. They come and they witness this

  206. and what do they see? This man?

  207. What about him? Well, there he is now.

  208. He's sitting at the feet of Jesus.

  209. He's clothed and he's in his right mind again.

  210. The case at hand is extreme. Again.

  211. If Christ can save this man and change his life so completely,

  212. he can do it for you tonight. The text that our brother

  213. preached on the other night is as if any man be in Christ.

  214. He is a new creature. The old things are passed away.

  215. Behold, all things become new. Notice first of all what it

  216. says. He was sitting at the feet of

  217. Jesus. That's the answer to the

  218. restlessness of sin. The restlessness of sin.

  219. Oh, what a contrast with what had gone before.

  220. When we first meet this man, he's running between the tombs.

  221. You imagine going with your little bunch of flowers, or

  222. whichever way I think the Jews take the little stones, don't

  223. then put it on the tombs or so on.

  224. But there you're going with your family to visit Granny's grave

  225. or whatever, and then there's a roar out of this man, and he

  226. appears naked and he's roaring at you.

  227. He's restless. But what a difference there is

  228. now. He was being driven then by the

  229. devil. The word driven there is used

  230. elsewhere in the New Testament. So it's good to look up the

  231. verbs or these words. It is used in James chapter 3

    James 3 chapter mention

  232. concerning the ships, the sailing ships that are driven in

  233. the fierce winds propelled forward.

  234. It's used again of the Weller of the wind in The Tempest or

  235. storm. There was no rest in this man's

  236. life. There was only agitation.

  237. The Bible is so clear in this matter tonight doesn't know what

  238. it says in Isaiah 57 says about the wicket.

  239. They are like a troubled sea that cannot find rest.

  240. His waters cast up Marin dirt. There is no rest, saith my God,

  241. to the wicket in Psalm 73, verse 18.

    Psalms 73:18

  242. God has set the feet of the wicket in slippery places.

  243. And the reason for that is that there is absolutely no

  244. satisfaction in sin. Yes, we confess, we admit that

  245. there is momentary pleasure, for we enjoyed it ourselves when we

  246. were in sin. But there's no satisfaction, and

  247. there's no satisfaction for one good reason.

  248. What difference man from all the other mammals and all the other

  249. creatures that are in this earth?

  250. It says that man has a soul. He has a soul, and man cannot

  251. live by bread alone, said the Saviour.

  252. But by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of

  253. God, he has a soul that will yearn and ache for God, and only

  254. God can grant peace to the soul, and he will not do so as long as

  255. that soul is at war with God. There's no peace in the Bible

  256. for rebels. Now maybe somebody with a little

  257. knowledge of the Bible makes an objection here, because he has

  258. read his Bible and he says, well, did Job not complain about

  259. a wicked man? 21 verse 33, and says of the

  260. wicked man, the man, he has no thought of God, he has no

  261. godliness about him, he has no piety, he has no religion.

  262. Did he not say of him he dies in his full strength, being wholly

  263. at ease and quiet? Well, of course, yes, he did.

  264. I know he did. That's why I put it under the

  265. message. And when he bringing up the

  266. objection here, they answer it. Devils advocate as opposed.

  267. In a little way, yes, But the peace that he had was the peace

  268. of the graveyard. It was a lull in the storm.

  269. Lull in the storm before he was launched out into eternity.

  270. And what happens when the wicket goes out into eternity?

  271. To go out into a place? Bible calls it hell where the

  272. worm dieth, not where the fire is on quench.

  273. That's not the place of peace. The wrath of God, the Bible

  274. says, obeys. It remains upon the wicked, both

  275. in this life and especially in the life that is to come.

  276. The rich man in hell looks 16. He lived his life without God.

  277. He had to say that the old peep that we get into hell.

  278. He said I am tormented. I am tormented in this name.

  279. There's an oral objection here. And maybe somebody says, well,

  280. that's OK what you're saying, I'll run with that.

  281. But are these things not only, not so only about those, this

  282. restlessness, about those who get into deep sins, these sins

  283. that that really mess them up, the drunkards.

  284. We've been warned tonight about the drinking.

  285. And anybody can look on and see the drunkard who is addicted to

  286. the bottle and he can't be at peace.

  287. He's craving for more. Or maybe the man that's on the

  288. drugs, the man who's shaking because he can't get his fix.

  289. Or maybe somebody says, yes, even those who dabble into the

  290. devil worship, is it not Speaking of those people?

  291. But somebody says, how could it ever be said as someone like me,

  292. I'm respectable. Somebody says I, I'm even

  293. religious. I have my church attendance.

  294. I put my envelope into the little box.

  295. I pay in. I, I sponsor missionaries, I

  296. sponsor children and orphanages and I do all those things.

  297. How could it ever be said of me? I'm put into you a composite of

  298. you, If you're still on converted, because by your own

  299. admission you do not possess that new heart, or in the words

  300. of the Saviour, you're not born again of the Spirit of God.

  301. And if that's the case, then you still possess and you still

  302. operate according to the principles of the old heart.

  303. It's not what the Bible says. As a man thinks in his heart, so

  304. as he, the heart is the driving force, and the heart of man,

  305. when it is still unconverted, when it is still unregenerate.

  306. The heart of man is deceitful above all things, desperately

  307. wicked. Who can know it?

  308. Sin is a problem, you see. It's guilt, it's pollution, it's

  309. bondage. The Bible says concerning our

  310. Lord Jesus, He made peace by the blood of His cross.

  311. He bore our sins, He put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

  312. For this cause was the Son of God manifested that he might

  313. destroy the works of the devil. You're saying it in action in

  314. this passage and what you need to do, if all you can say is

  315. that well, I'm sort of good living type of fellow, I'm clean

  316. living and so on. You need to come in repentance

  317. and in faith to Jesus Christ. You need to receive his

  318. salvation. He says come unto me, all ye

  319. that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.

  320. Just like this man here he's rest, he's sitting this man that

  321. roamed this man that was so out of control.

  322. He's setting out the feet of the saviour.

  323. O takers yoke upon you tonight. Refusal to do so say well, it's

  324. not really for me. Well leave your soul restless

  325. strong evidence that respect respectable other ways you're

  326. still held. Listen to the language of

  327. Scripture held captive by the devil at his will.

  328. And the only difference between you and your own converted state

  329. in this mad manicadara when he was still unsaved is only one of

  330. degree. It's not of kind.

  331. And then we notice here, secondly, and we're moving on.

  332. Not only was he sitting at the feet of Jesus, but it says he

  333. was sitting clothed. He was sitting clothed and

  334. that's the answer to the nakedness of sin.

  335. The answer to the nakedness of sin.

  336. Previously he wear no clothes. He's running naked among the

  337. tombs now sitting clothed. Know how significant you see

  338. sin? Sin strips us, strips us first

  339. of all of our original righteousnesses, original

  340. righteousness. That's what we had as a human

  341. race in our fower. Adam, he was created sinless,

  342. yes, with the capacity to sin because he sinned.

  343. But he was created with original righteousness and then he lost

  344. it, and we lost it in him by one man.

  345. Sin has entered into the world, death by sin.

  346. Sin has passed upon all men because we've all sinned.

  347. The strips is of our respectability.

  348. We're all excellent at the cover up as far as this world is

  349. concerned. You know, we're all decent, but

  350. only by by mutual consent. It's getting easier to be less

  351. decent, isn't it? We're now tolerating.

  352. Oh, we're under the month of June.

  353. Sometimes the wish June was over because we're now tolerating.

  354. But even our forefollowers, even if they were godless, we'd have

  355. totally abominated sin. He knows not defined by societal

  356. tastes. It's not the folks in the hill

  357. tell us what sin is. It's not the folks in the side

  358. of the Thames or in Europe or in the White House or wherever tell

  359. us what sin is. The issue is that's not what we

  360. are. By mutual consent and societal

  361. agreement. How do we stand before God?

  362. That's the dividing and the deciding issue today.

  363. If God threw open the wickedness of our hearts and He was to have

  364. a big projector and He was to put it on the wall there one by

  365. one our heads will go down and we would burn all with shame

  366. because of our sins. You know, many people try and

  367. concoct arguments to justify their sins and and they are not

  368. the one at the fend of the shame I'm putting to you.

  369. There's none of these excuses work.

  370. There's none of these excuses work.

  371. After Adam and Eve sinned, they discovered their nakedness.

  372. They were ashamed. First mansion of nakedness in

  373. the Bible, the first mansion of shame.

  374. They go together and you know what they did?

  375. They tried to cover themselves with the fig leaves.

  376. Soon those fig leaves weren't covering them really at all.

  377. They fell apart. They were insufficient, you

  378. know, No excuse whatever. Fobe, God of Hebrews 12/29 says

  379. our God is a consuming fire. Revelation 114 John said of the

  380. risen Christ when he met him afresh after 60 years on the

  381. Isle of Patmos. His eyes, his eyes were as a

  382. flame of fire through all the excuses that we're hiding

  383. behind. Nobody can reason for their

  384. sins. Yes, there's plenty excuses.

  385. Again, none of them work. Old Billy, somebody said an

  386. excuse is just the skin of a reason stuffed with a lie.

  387. And in that real coming day of judgement that God has already

  388. appointed, it's already in his diary.

  389. He's not thinking about it. It's not out for public

  390. consultation. It's in the decree of God.

  391. It will surely come to pass. He has appointed a day in which

  392. he will judge the world. The whole world will stand

  393. guilty before God, and every mouth will be stopped, and the

  394. morally naked wicked in that day will be sent away.

  395. They will hear these words. Depart.

  396. Depart from me, ye wicked ye, curse it because I never knew

  397. you. But it will not be so for those

  398. you're sitting clothed at the feet of Jesus.

  399. Because we are clothed today not in our own righteousnesses,

  400. which we renounce because God denounces our righteousnesses as

  401. filthy rights. This man wasn't sitting in

  402. filthy rights. This man sitting clothed and

  403. spiritually speaking, he's clothed, clothed in the imputed

  404. righteousness of Christ, You say.

  405. What does that mean? It means that the spotless,

  406. sinless, peerless Saviour, who kept the law, who not only kept

  407. it, but magnified it and made it honourable, all his

  408. righteousness is, is imputed, put into the account of all who

  409. sit at his feet, the sea of the earth, Jehovah's Sikenu, the

  410. Lord, our righteousness, my Saviour must be.

  411. The Bible says in Romans 1314, Put, put ye on.

  412. In other words, be clothed, put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ,

  413. that means to believe in him, that means to trust him, that

  414. means to flee to him as Lord and Saviour.

  415. Listen to what he says in Romans 3, verse 18, He says to a

    Romans 3:18

  416. backslidden church, but in effect to every Sinner, he says,

  417. I counsel thee. That's one of his titles, isn't

  418. it? The counsellor, the mighty God,

  419. I counsel thee. I advise thee to buy of me gold

  420. tried in the fire, that's pure gold, that thy may us be rich

  421. and white raiment, that thy may us be clothed, and the shame of

  422. thy nakedness not appear. And anoint thine eyes with eyes

  423. of that thy mayest sea. And as such the sea of the

  424. birth, to quote the old hymn writer there, the sea of the

  425. earth. He will Gower over on that

  426. overshore. We Gower there because we are

  427. accepted in the Beloved. And you will hear him saying

  428. that day, what a day that's going to be come wonderful.

  429. The Lord says come, come ye blessed of my flower.

  430. That's where you want to be. You want to be on the right hand

  431. side of God, accepted in the beloved, the ungodly or not.

  432. So it'll be like the wind, the chaff as the wind driveth away.

  433. But the Bible says of the Lord, he knoweth the way of the

  434. righteous. Thirdly, here it says not only

  435. was he sitting at the feet of Jesus, not only was he clothed,

  436. but listen there to what it says.

  437. He was in his right mind. That's the gospel answer to the

  438. folly of sin. Sin has a poisonous effect upon

  439. the mind of man. It is specifically mentioned

  440. three times in the Bible. You have it in Colossians

    Colossians 1 chapter mention

  441. chapter 1 and you who were sometimely speaking to God's

  442. people, that word sometime means in the past.

  443. There was a time when you were alienated and enemies in your

  444. mind by wicked works. Ephesians 4 verse 18 having the

    Ephesians 4:18

  445. understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God

  446. through ignorance that is in them because of the blindness of

  447. the heart. Who causes this blindness?

  448. Second Corinthians 4 verse 4, the God of this world, that's

    2 Corinthians 4:4

  449. the devil there, not the Genesis one verse one God, the God, the

  450. chosen God, the chosen deity of this world.

  451. The devil has blinded the minds of them not believe not.

  452. That's no position you know to be in or determined to remain in

  453. the soundness of mind which is true wisdom is found in Jesus

  454. Christ alone, the one who said I am the truth.

  455. It's the fear of the Lord that is the beginning of wisdom.

  456. Do you remember the words of that repentant thief on the

  457. cross? We sing about him, don't we the

  458. the the dying thief rejoiced to see that fountain in his day.

  459. There may I though Vilas he wash all my sins away.

  460. Do you remember his words that led to his conversion?

  461. He rebuked the our thief on the our side of the Saviour who

  462. cursed the Saviour and the the dying.

  463. He says to him, do you not fear God?

  464. I, I like hear about Joseph going away back into the Old

  465. Testament when he was in the skies.

  466. His brothers have come looking food.

  467. Of course they've sold him. You know the whole story and of

  468. bondage and of slavery. Now he's risen to be the Prime

  469. Minister. He recognises them.

  470. They don't recognise him. He's changed over all those

  471. years. He's indifferent garb.

  472. They think he's dead, he's gone, he's not even in their mind and

  473. and they're disturbed because their conscience is at work and

  474. he was able to calm to some degree their heart.

  475. For these words I fear God. Not many civil servants would

  476. say that, but that in record. I fear God.

  477. True wisdom is found setting at the feet of Jesus.

  478. We debate another person who sat at the feet of Jesus, we girl

  479. called Mary, sister of Martha, sister of Lazarus.

  480. Mary, I don't think had gone in the far end of the sins that

  481. this man had ever done. Probably a pious young girl,

  482. saved by the grace of God. Jesus said leave her alone, she

  483. hath chosen the good part, the better part, when she sat at the

  484. feet of the Saviour and heard his word.

  485. And that's where wisdom is found.

  486. That's where wisdom is found. It's found in the Bible.

  487. It's found in God's word that the word of Christ well in you

  488. richly because it makes us wise on the salvation.

  489. And then as an added bonus, a necessity, not only did he give

  490. us a book, but he gave us a teacher.

  491. He sends the Spirit of God, whose work it is to guide us in

  492. the old truth. It's the work of the Saviour to

  493. open the eyes of the blind. That's why Paul was able to say,

  494. consider what I say, and the Lord give you understanding of

  495. all things. I'm going to bring the message

  496. to a close now and I must ask a question.

  497. What response? What response do you propose to

  498. give to thee things? Because the call for a response,

  499. you cannot remain indifferent. You don't only on hear thee

  500. things, you can't remain indifferent.

  501. Can't just shrug the shoulders and say, oh, very good.

  502. You can preach a wee bit. You're obviously a wee bit of a

  503. talent there. You've held my attention.

  504. But now I'm going to have a wee bit of supper.

  505. I'm just going to go straight home and I'm just going to go

  506. back to the way that I was before I come into this meeting.

  507. That's not the answer that I'm looking for tonight.

  508. You see, it's folly, it's foolishness, the fool says in

  509. his heart. There is no God.

  510. Or as a comprander. As a comprander, the fool says

  511. in his heart, no to God or a calm be rendered.

  512. The fool says in his heart, no God for me.

  513. That's folly, that's dangerous folly.

  514. It's folly to ignore, reject nor neglect this matter.

  515. Tonight you can set at the feet of the Saviour, clothed in his

  516. righteousness, Divine, at peace with God, but you need to come,

  517. come as a law Sinner, ask him to be your Saviour, Say Lord, what

  518. you did, what you did for this man, will you not do it for me?

  519. And Jesus said, heaven not cometh to me.

  520. I will in no ways cast out. I think it's very interesting

  521. there. The way the passage finishes the

  522. paragraph marking in my Bible takes us to verse 41 and really

  523. it finishes at 1st 39. But our well, the people that

  524. put the wee paragraph that's in their put in under verse

  525. fournaye because at the end of that passage, people come to see

  526. what was done and they were afraid.

  527. Why were they afraid? Why were they afraid?

  528. What, what, what was there that impacted them?

  529. This man getting his life so changed and they sent him away,

  530. chased him out and he got back under the boat.

  531. The industry chased the Saviour away.

  532. But look what it says in verse. For me it came to pass because

  533. it's still part of the story. There's a contrast here.

  534. When Jesus was returned, the people gladly received Him, for

  535. they were all waiting for Him, to as many as received them,

  536. till they may give the power, the authority to become the sons

  537. of God. They were waiting for Him.

  538. I waited for the Lord. My God patiently did bear at

  539. length to me. He did incline my voice, my cry,

  540. to hear where you're sitting in your seat.

  541. You just lift up your heart to God, Say Lord, save me, save me,

  542. bring me to yourself, wash away all my sins in the blood of the

  543. Lamb. Or if you want to speak with us

  544. afterwards, we'll be around. We're in no big hurry away.

  545. We'll side into one of the little rooms, a minister's room

  546. or wherever. And if you want, they asked any

  547. further questions, we'll be happy as much as we can to help

  548. you. But we're preaching for souls.

  549. We want you to get to Christ. We want you to be saved.

  550. That's by our heads just in prayer.

  551. Bring the meeting now to an end. We give thanks for the food.

  552. Father in heaven, we thank you for the word of God.

  553. What a story Lord. This is what an account and some

  554. of the other gospels as well. It's so dramatic.

  555. It's so instructive, but praying Lord it'll come with power to

  556. each and every heart. Those of us that are see have,

  557. let us rejoice Lord and what you see of this from there, but for

  558. the grace of God go I and remember any among us that are

  559. still unconverted, Lord, draw them to Christ.

  560. Don't let them go ahead into the darkness of the night, still

  561. children of the devil, still in bondage.

  562. Lord, draw them to yourself with those great cords of love.

  563. Lord, thank you for the food that I have supplied.

  564. Let us eat and drink to your glory and then take us to our

  565. homes and safety in Jesus name, Amen.

  566. Amen. Thank you for listening so well.
