  1. I want to read a wee verse of Scripture and it says in Psalm

  2. 107 these words, let the redeemed of the Lord say so,

  3. whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.

  4. I want to tell you tonight, when I became a Christian, I became a

  5. Christian at the age of 18, one day before my 18th birthday was

  6. not some birthday present. You see, nobody's born into a

  7. Christian country. Nobody's born a Christian in the

  8. sense of being in a Christian home.

  9. Keep that thought in mind and we'll ask ourselves a second

  10. question. Why did I become a Christian?

  11. Because at the age of 18, I found myself in a tent mission.

  12. I had been invited by a man at work.

  13. At this point in my life I was addicted to booze.

  14. I have to tell you, to my shame I was a boozer, a cursor, a

  15. fighter and a womaniser. My philosophy as a young man was

  16. wine and women and so on. And from the age of 11 and 12,

  17. you'd have found me hanging about Kelly's nightclub.

  18. I was there on Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night,

  19. Sunday. Thought it was great, thought

  20. this was life. But you know, at that time I had

  21. no thought of God. I had No Fear of God.

  22. I had no love for God. I had no idea God, who's God.

  23. You live, you work, you die, and that's the end.

  24. But this particular Sunday night, Friday night, sorry, I

  25. was invited to this 10th mission and I was invaded because I'd

  26. asked a man at work, under the influence of alcohol, that if

  27. the church had the answer, I wanted to go see.

  28. My mother died when I was a boy. I was taken from Elbana St here

  29. in Belfast, having come from Mackrefelt at the age of 1.

  30. I was taken to Bushmills and then down into drum and Droid

  31. say Coleraine and reared with a, a, an old aunt.

  32. She was a godly lady, sent me along to church and Sunday

  33. school. But I, I hadn't really interest.

  34. The only thing that I liked about church and the times that

  35. I went as a boy was at Christmas time.

  36. They sang once in Royal David City and I thought well 'cause

  37. I'm called David, that's great, what does that mean?

  38. But I, I didn't know what it mean, but it sounded good

  39. alright. But I I looked upon all of them

  40. being there as a bunch of hypocrites.

  41. I thought these people are play acting at church.

  42. But I said to this man, if the church has the answer, I would

  43. like to go. And I remember him putting his

  44. arm around me. He was called Andy Alexander,

  45. pray for Andy's not that well. And this is what he said.

  46. He said, I'm sorry David, the church hasn't the answer, but

  47. Christ has. That was double Dutch to me.

  48. What did that mean? So anyway, he coaxed me to go

  49. along with him to this particular Friday night, to this

  50. tent mission. It was in Limavady, 14 miles out

  51. of Coleraine. The preacher was the Reverend

  52. Sam Workman, and I remember his text.

  53. Remember what he said as if it was yesterday.

  54. Here was his text. John, 10 and 10, I am come that

  55. you might have life, you might have it more abundantly, he

  56. said. Young man, you're in this

  57. meeting tonight, you're looking for life.

  58. You're trying to find it in the dance floor, You're trying to

  59. find it through booze and consumption of alcohol.

  60. You're trying to find it in sexual fulfilment outside of

  61. marriage. You're trying to find it in the

  62. ways of the world. And deep down inside you're not

  63. happy. And you lie in your bed at night

  64. and you wonder what's life all about.

  65. This is a rat race. And when it comes Thursday and

  66. you pay your cheque over the publican's counter and he gives

  67. you the money by by Sunday evening, you're broke and you're

  68. catching money and cigarettes for the rest of the week till

  69. you get paid again. He says now if that's you

  70. tonight, I want you to come with me.

  71. Come now, I want to introduce you to the giver of life.

  72. Well, you see that very moment I had no idea what been under

  73. conviction of sin was, but I come under conviction of sin.

  74. And I heard John 3 and 16, the most wonderfulest love story,

  75. for God so loved the world they gave His only begotten Son, that

  76. whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have

  77. everlasting life. I went out of that meeting.

  78. I was to go to Kelly's. That was the agreement with

  79. Andy. He took me home.

  80. I was under conviction to the Sunday.

  81. And during those hours, you see, I knew I was a big Sinner.

  82. Nobody had to tell me the things that I've done.

  83. If I started to tell you from the age of 11 to the age of 18,

  84. the things that I would done, you would shake your head, you

  85. would tut, tut. You would say no, that could not

  86. be right. I wouldn't want to shame the

  87. devil. Tonight I was in the pit of sin

  88. and the devil was dragging me down and my sin into hell.

  89. And I could feel that if I'd have died, I knew I would have

  90. gone to hell. What way did I get saved?

  91. Not Sunday night. Cut a Long story short, I met a

  92. man walking the streets of Coleraine, and he gave me a

  93. little tract, 10:00 at night, and I took it home.

  94. This time I'm living in a Roman Catholic lodging house, far away

  95. from my aunt, living in rebellion and sin, doing what I

  96. wanted to do. And this little tract, when I

  97. opened it up at God and man and union and communion.

  98. Genesis chapter 1. Genesis 2 And then it had God

    Genesis 1 chapter mention

  99. and man separated with the word sin in the middle.

  100. I understood the little draw. And then it had God and man

  101. still separated, but man trying to reach out to God through his

  102. good works, through his prayers, through his church, his

  103. religiosity, man attempting to reach God.

  104. And every one of those little logs that come out from man's

  105. side fell short. Why did they fall short?

  106. Because man isn't evil to reach out to God by himself, because

  107. for by grace or receive through faith, and not, not of yourself,

  108. not of works, lest any man should boast.

  109. And when I turned the Backpage, it had man and God still

  110. separated with a chasm in the middle, but this time there was

  111. a Red Cross in the middle, as if it was a bridge from God's side

  112. to man's side. And inside was the words Jesus

  113. saith, I am the way, the truth to life.

  114. No man comes unto the Father but by me.

  115. And it's as if somebody had put the light on in David's head.

  116. You know, sometimes they say you saw the light.

  117. Well, I didn't see a literal light, but in my head I

  118. understood the way to God was through Christ.

  119. And I knelt during that night at the sight of my bed.

  120. I didn't know how to pray. I asked the Lord Jesus to

  121. forgive my sin, asked the Lord Jesus to come into my life, ask

  122. the Lord Jesus to be my Lord and Saviour.

  123. I wonder if you have ever asked Jesus Christ to be your Lord and

  124. Saviour? Have you ever knelt in

  125. conviction and cried out, Lord save me, I perish.

  126. Well see that's what happened to me.

  127. One day before me, 18th birthday, I come under

  128. conviction and on that Sunday, from Friday to Sunday, over that

  129. weekend, on the Sunday night, I come to Christ.

  130. Let me tell you what happened very quickly, Brother Noel.

  131. I preached here a few nights ago.

  132. If any man be in Christ, he's a new creature.

  133. Old things have passed away and all things have become new and

  134. all things are of God. The next morning I had no desire

  135. for the Park Dr. I had no desire for the booze.

  136. It's as if somebody had washed out my mouth with soap.

  137. It was clean. I wasn't cursing anymore.

  138. I wasn't late for work. I stood up on the joiners

  139. workbench and I told everybody in the workshop there was 20 men

  140. there, Loyalist community bands members, members of the Orange

  141. Institution and other organisations.

  142. When I told them I could see if they laughed, said we'll have

  143. you back in the pub, Patsy will be looking for you.

  144. That was Patsy McIntyre. Do you know something?

  145. That's over 40 years ago, Well over 40 years, 42 or three.

  146. I'm not a good counter, but I just want to tell you tonight,

  147. during that time I failed the Lord in many instances and

  148. they've sinned against them. And yet the wonderful message is

  149. this. The blood of Jesus Christ, his

  150. Son cleanses off from all sin. And even if you're here tonight

  151. and you feel a failure, you can go to the Lord.

  152. You can kneel at the cross and tell the Lord your sin and ask

  153. them to forgive you and watch his promise.

  154. Thy sins and iniquities. I will remember no more.

  155. Here's when I became a Christian.

  156. Here's why I come under conviction of my sin.

  157. Here's the way I simply knelt at the cross and trusted Christ.

  158. And here's what happened. I was put into Christ, born of

  159. the Spirit, made a new creature, given a love for God in the

  160. things of God that I never had, never dreamed I'd be a preacher,

  161. never dreamed in a day. And yet God called me.

  162. And God has kept me here as the minister of this congregation

  163. for 26 years. God bless you.

  164. Thanks for listening, Brother Kong.

  165. Thank our brethren for singing to us there tonight.

  166. Can we turn please, in our Bibles?

  167. We want to turn to Job chapter 25, the 25th chapter of the book

    Job 25 chapter mention

  168. of Job. There's just 6 verses.

  169. It's one of the shorter chapters in Job, so we'll read it all.

  170. Job chapter 25. If you can find the book of

    Job 25 chapter mention

  171. Psalms in your Bible there in the Old Testament, then you'll

  172. just walk back one book to the book of Job.

  173. I'm going to read from the verse one and it's down to the verse 6

  174. which is the whole of the chapter Joe chapter 25 verse one

  175. then answered Bildad the shoe height and said dominion and

  176. fear are with him. He maketh peace in his high

  177. places. Is there any number of his

  178. armies? And upon whom doth not his light

  179. arise? How then can man be justified

  180. with God? Or how can he be clean, That is

  181. born of a woman. Behold even to the moon, and it

  182. chineth not. Yeah, the stars are not pure in

  183. his sight. How much less man that is a

  184. worm, and the Son of man which is a worm.

  185. Amen. May God bless the public reading

  186. of His own word just for a moment.

  187. Will seek his face in prayer. Our follower under God, we thank

  188. Thee for the meeting thus far. We believe, Lord, that you have

  189. been honoured and all that has been said and done and sung in

  190. this gathering in one way or another.

  191. The centre theme of the meeting, of course, is our Lord Jesus on

  192. the hymn Shall the gathering of the people be.

  193. I need Thy power to preach Thy word.

  194. I am very conscious, Lord tonight that the arm of flesh

  195. will surely fail, and we dare not trust our own.

  196. There's nothing Lord, in this preacher that could carry the

  197. meeting, even the bringing off the Word.

  198. But there is the power of God that is promised in the

  199. Scriptures. Our Saviour heir, he went back

  200. to glory. The last great promise that He

  201. gave is that she shall receive power after this.

  202. The Holy Ghost is come upon you, and you shall be witnesses on to

  203. me. May I be a witness for Christ

  204. even in this gathering tonight, that your word, Lord, have a

  205. free course and be glorified. It would be a tremendous thing,

  206. Lord, if at the end of the gathering, souls were saved,

  207. backsliders restored, that God's people sent on their way,

  208. rejoicing built up in their most holy faith.

  209. Hear an answer prayer, glorify thyself in Jesus name, Amen.

  210. Amen. And the last part there of the

  211. verse four that we want to give our attention to, there's two

  212. questions asked. We would be awhile tonight if we

  213. were to answer both of them and deal with them.

  214. So we've decided just to look at the end of verse 4 and it gives

  215. his ample room and ample scope for the preaching of the gospel.

  216. The question is asked, how can he be clean that is born of a

  217. woman. The speaker in our text is a

  218. fellow called Bildad. The shoe height in verse one

  219. there and he was one of Job's friends and comforters.

  220. There were three all together, and they came to see Job, who

  221. was lying in his bed in great affliction.

  222. Job was greatly afflicted in his body.

  223. He was in great pain. He was in agony because he was

  224. not only afflicted in his body, and that was bad enough, but he

  225. was afflicted because of an ongoing onslaught of the devil.

  226. You read of that in the opening chapters.

  227. The devil picked on him and Job, it may be said, need needed a

  228. lot of prayer and he needed a lot of support and he needed a

  229. lot of comfort. But Bodad here and his two

  230. companions give rise to that somewhat cynical question that

  231. you tend to hear regularly with friends like these, who needs

  232. enemies? And even not free, as Job's

  233. comforters has been engrafted in the everyday speech.

  234. People use it. They don't even know where it

  235. comes from. It's in our common language now.

  236. It refers to one who brings no comfort to you, but adds to your

  237. reflection when maybe words of comfort would really be better.

  238. Now maybe you're wondering why so much attention is given to

  239. these, the words of these men. There's chapter after chapter.

  240. Job is a big book and these men contribute so much.

  241. Well, why is it then if they're not that good at their work?

  242. There's so much attention given to what they say.

  243. And herein lies the rub. Their theology, their doctrine,

  244. their teaching was fine, that's why.

  245. But it was their pastoral application that let them down

  246. big time. The Bible says it are words that

  247. are fitly spoken, right words to the right person at the right

  248. time. It's those words that are

  249. likened on the apples of gold in pictures of silver.

  250. Now at the beginning of their visit to him again, you read it

  251. in the early part. These men, as of perhaps they

  252. could only do in the East, where of course the whole scene is

  253. set. They came and they saw Job and

  254. they sat for a whole week in silence.

  255. You and I could hardly sit still for 10 minutes.

  256. These fellows sat still for a whole week.

  257. They just looked on, they wept, they mourned, and nobody spoke.

  258. And that husband commented. Then it all went sour because

  259. they opened their mouth and well, we would say that they

  260. added to his affliction. You know, truth is indeed a very

  261. precious commodity, but it should never be used to Bosch

  262. someone over the head. Sometimes there is a time to

  263. speak. If your words are good words,

  264. then, and our times there is a time to be silent.

  265. We can divorce these words having acknowledged their

  266. immediate context because the words themselves, when we take

  267. away all the little bad bits round them, Bildad and his

  268. friends, these words carry great weight and I believe that from

  269. them tonight we will be able to preach the gospel of Christ.

  270. We have three main thoughts and we'll try and move quickly

  271. through them. First of all, number one, we

  272. have the question analysed, the question analysed.

  273. The question itself, of course you will have picked up, is a

  274. rhetorical question. It has been asked not so much to

  275. get an answer, but to make a point, a grammatical point, and

  276. when within a limited scope it is seen.

  277. No man who is born of a woman can be clean.

  278. That's what the Bible says about us, born of a woman.

  279. No man born of a woman can be clean.

  280. And this is teaching us what is a great truth, and a great truth

  281. that is not often mentioned, is often denied, is not often

  282. mentioned, seldom preached on. And that's the doctrine of what

  283. is known as original sin. Original sin.

  284. And we need to learn the truth because it explains to us why

  285. the gospel is so necessary. The gospel isn't just a

  286. preference here, something that we can hang on to and attach on

  287. the life in general. If you think you need it, no,

  288. you need it, you need it. The Bible says the gospel is for

  289. sinners, unclean sinners. It is summarised in the words of

  290. the apostle who said this is a faithful saying worthy of all

  291. acceptation. Christ Jesus come into the world

  292. to save sinners and there's a great danger.

  293. The great danger is says that we could argue ourselves out of

  294. being saved. We could take the wrong box, we

  295. could make the wrong claim and make the wrong denial.

  296. Anybody who says being confronted that they are sinners

  297. and they start to defend themselves are putting

  298. themselves in great danger. The worst thing you want to do

  299. is to argue yourself out of God's salvation.

  300. Here in our tax man's state is led bare.

  301. God has stripped everything away and he states a very

  302. disconcerting truth. He's telling us here, as the

  303. Bible does elsewhere, that we are all born sinners with a

  304. sinful nature. The little child is born we you,

  305. and we are. It's lovely and it's beautiful

  306. and all. We say nice things, old little

  307. Angel and so on. All that like that there.

  308. But that's fine sentimentally. But when you drill down a little

  309. bit with the word of God in your hand, you realise that we are

  310. looking at a little Sinner, one born with a sinful nature.

  311. And soon that sinful nature is going to manifest itself.

  312. There's going to be that stomping of a little foot

  313. somewhere. There's going to be that little

  314. defiant no, no to the requests or the demands of apparent King

  315. David put it in the words in his great penitential Psalm in Psalm

  316. 51. Listen to these words.

  317. Behold, when the Bible says, behold, it's a little called to

  318. stop and to look. Look at this.

  319. That's what he's saying. Behold, he said, I was shaping

  320. in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

  321. Now, that's nothing to do with being born out of wedlock out of

  322. anything like that. No, he's saying, I was born with

  323. a sinful nature. I have been born into a wicked

  324. race, the human race that has rebelled against its creator.

  325. I have been born on the wrong side of the tracks.

  326. Psalm 58. David again says the wicked.

  327. Note the word. The wicked are estranged from

  328. the womb. They go astray as soon as they

  329. be born. Speaking lies in our words.

  330. The seeds of wickedness are already there and they will soon

  331. develop and manifest themselves in full bloom when they have the

  332. opportunity to do so. Now sin may be portrayed under

  333. many descriptions. I think we at the opening part

  334. of, I remember back of the mission of certainly the first

  335. week we looked at that all the different ways sin is portrayed,

  336. most notably rebellion. But here in our text it is on

  337. cleanness. Who can be clean?

  338. That is born of a woman and that's telling us today that sin

  339. pollutes. There's a lot of talk about

  340. pollution, isn't there? You go on the news in the

  341. morning, the BBC Breakfast, it seems about every 3rd day

  342. they're talking about Thames Water and you're seeing the

  343. sewer pipe going out into the Thames.

  344. The pollution, the fish kills. We know what pollution is.

  345. It's in the air, it's in the sea.

  346. Well, morally, morally, we've all got polluted hearts.

  347. It is universal. Listen to Isaiah chapter 64,

    Isaiah 64:6

  348. verse 6. We are all, and that's an all,

  349. embracing all, every one of us. We are all as an unclean thing,

  350. the language of our text and all our righteousnesses, our filthy

  351. rags. And we do all fear as a leaf,

  352. and our iniquities like the wind have carried us a day, carried

  353. us away. You remember the words of Isaiah

  354. way back in chapter 6, as he stood in the very presence of

  355. God. He says he saw the Lord sitting

  356. on his throne high and lifted up.

  357. He saw the angels, the angels cover their faces, and the

  358. angels cried out three times to God.

  359. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God of hosts.

  360. What was Isaiah's response to that?

  361. Isaiah pading to you was a good man.

  362. He was God's man. He was a redeemed man.

  363. He was a saved man. Isaiah, confronted with the

  364. holiness of God, said woe is me, for I am undone.

  365. I am a man of what? Unclean lips?

  366. You see, uncleanness invades the whole body of man.

  367. The apostle Paul and our great man of God had to cry out when

  368. he saw himself up against the Lord, as it were, O wretched man

  369. that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death.

  370. Again he said in me, that is in my flesh left to myself,

  371. dwelleth no good thing. Later on, Joe Joe will confess

  372. in the presence of the Lord. I abhor myself, he said.

  373. I repent in dust and Isis. Can I say that such uncleanness

  374. was still under our first point? Such uncleanness is contagious

  375. and it is dangerous. It leads to disease.

  376. The disease leads to death. It may be communicated to ours.

  377. We are the touch, not the unclean thing.

  378. It can be communicated the others.

  379. The book of Proverbs, a very practical book, tells us that we

  380. should shun certain people or particularly their influences,

  381. those who are guilty of various vases with the angry man that

  382. says thou shalt not go, why is that?

  383. Because you're going to get angry.

  384. He's going to wind you up and those seeds of repellent in your

  385. heart will rise up and that uncleanness of sin will manifest

  386. yourself. If he's angry and gone off on a

  387. rage, let him go. Just be thankful that you're not

  388. going with him. It talks about the harlot woman,

  389. the strange woman as she has described in the Bible.

  390. And it's not because we are better than they.

  391. We're not going to be the hypocrite tonight.

  392. We're not going to be the Pharisee tonight.

  393. But because our own wicked hearts left to themselves are

  394. tender, dry. You get the last time that you

  395. ever had the problem a few weeks ago.

  396. Get all those fires in the mornings with the fires near us

  397. there in Tyrone. The ground was tender, dry and

  398. all it took was one match, one cigarette butt, 1 little light,

  399. 1 little broken bottle with the the sun shining through it and

  400. soon there was the big flame of fire.

  401. We recognise the corruption of our own hearts, and if such sins

  402. are repulsive to us, then how much more are they repulsive to

  403. God? God in the highest is the

  404. highest authority. They've got the the old verse

  405. there or the little question that is asked in the verse 4.

  406. It really does set up our question here.

  407. How then can man be justified with God?

  408. He is the Master before whom we will either stand or fall.

  409. We will stand one day at His judgement seat, and we will be

  410. summons to appear and to give an account on such uncleanness

  411. tonight. Such uncleanness.

  412. If we're dying, this uncleanness, it will keep us out

  413. of heaven. We love to sing about heaven,

  414. don't we may like to think about the glory land and we, we, we

  415. think it's a wonderful, wonderful place where the Bible

  416. tells us that it is. It's the it's the height of joy

  417. and pleasure to be in the presence of the Lord forever.

  418. But listen to what it says. Nothing, nothing that defileth

  419. shall enter into heaven. That's why it's so wonderful.

  420. All that is unclean and defiled is kept out in heaven itself.

  421. You have the redeemed of the Lord there, and they are

  422. portrayed in being in white robes, the righteousness of the

  423. Saints. The Bible says in Revelation 22

  424. concerning the uncleanness, it keeps a man out of heaven.

  425. It will be pronounced on a great multitude, perhaps at the last,

  426. some even Goward in our meeting tonight.

  427. That him that is unjust beyond just still the final doom.

  428. Let him that is filthy unclean. Let him be filthy still.

  429. These are the worst words that anybody could hear.

  430. But not only do we have the question analyse, moving on here

  431. quickly and #2 we have the question answered, the question

  432. answered. In other words, we are treating

  433. it as a question that is not rhetorical.

  434. Originally it was a rhetorical, it was asked for a fact.

  435. But we're going to take it as a question that needs to be

  436. answered. The rhetorical has served its

  437. purpose in the first point. And since we are all unclean by

  438. sin, both original and actual, and therefore, in such a state

  439. barred from heaven, no hope in ourselves of getting in, because

  440. there can be no fellowship between righteousness.

  441. And on righteousness, you say, Is that it?

  442. Have I come here tonight to hear a message of certain doom and

  443. perdition? The old question was asked in

  444. the Gospels. Who then can be saved?

  445. But this isn't all what the Bible says.

  446. Bible says man cannot cleanse himself.

  447. The stain is too deep. Jeremiah said these words in the

  448. early part of his book when he's saying his complaint among to

  449. the people. He says if you wash yourself

  450. with knighter, knighter was a very strong soap, an industrial

  451. level soap. If you wash yourself with

  452. knighter and you take to thee much soap yet thine iniquity,

  453. thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord God.

  454. The ladies will know what it is like when you're doing the

  455. washing. You've got a stain and our

  456. fellas come of a wee bit of a stain in my shirt.

  457. Is there anything you can do about it?

  458. And outcomes the carbolic soap and outcomes all the the wonder

  459. portions that you spent money for to go through the wash, but

  460. the stain's still there, isn't it?

  461. It's not right in the back down here.

  462. It's sitting there somewhere where you you, you're going to

  463. see it. And if man cannot remove and

  464. cleanse his own sin, he certainly cannot cleanse and

  465. remove the sins of an hour. There's no human cure for this.

  466. Tonight. There's no church can cleanse

  467. you. Tonight.

  468. You go through all the rituals of your church, no matter visit

  469. Roman or Reformed or whatever, the church cannot deliver you.

  470. It cannot wash away your sin. But what we can do and what

  471. we're doing tonight is that we can preach unknower.

  472. What is impossible with men is possible with God.

  473. And we are introduced in this book of Job.

  474. Job was, the Bible says, a perfect and an upright man.

  475. He was not sinless, but he was a saved man.

  476. He feared God that's the beginning of wisdom, the fear of

  477. God he astute that means he rejected evil and how was this

  478. how's this man born on clean of a woman?

  479. How can he be an upright and a perfect man fearing God because

  480. he spoke about a Redeemer Job 19 verse 25.

    Job 19:25

  481. I know he said, he's in the depths of despair here.

  482. When he speaks his words. He's down in the dumps a

  483. thousandfold, and yet he's still a man of faith.

  484. And he cries out, and he says, I know that my Redeemer liveth not

  485. a wonderful thing. He had a saviour, had a

  486. Redeemer. Here's a man surrounded by

  487. heathen with her false deities, who demanded so much, delivered

  488. nothing, never mind so little, unable to save anybody.

  489. But Job's God was alive, the one true and living God, and God was

  490. his Redeemer. And Job's God, who is our God,

  491. who we're preaching tonight, is wowing.

  492. Although he is the offended one. He's wowing to be gracious and

  493. merciful to the guilty. There we deserve nothing but to

  494. be castaway in wrath. The world one time so plunged

  495. itself in the uncleanness. Job chapter or Genesis chapter

    Genesis 6 chapter mention

  496. 6, when the whole earth was full of violence in the days of Noah,

  497. days that will return again before the Lord comes back and

  498. listen to what it says. It repented the Lord that he had

  499. made man on earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

  500. And the wicked cannot complain if God was to cast them into the

  501. deepest hell, because the whole world tonight, the whole world

  502. stands guilty before God and every mouth is stopped.

  503. There's no legal arguments, there's no excuses, there's no

  504. smart lawyers, there's no bluffing.

  505. The Supreme Judge who knows all things and will do that which is

  506. right. Has God made a way back to

  507. himself from the dark paths of sin?

  508. Can God cleanse the souls of men?

  509. Can he present them to Himself, as the Bible says, without spot,

  510. without wrinkle, or any such things?

  511. That's why I'm here tonight. That's why this church is here

  512. tonight, because we answer yes, he can.

  513. And we point to a fountain. We did it in our opening hymn.

  514. We say there is a fountain filled with blood drawn from

  515. Emmanuel's veins. Sinners floods beneath that

  516. flood lose all their guilty stains.

  517. And that's the cross. That's the cross of Calvary, a

  518. great fountain, Zechariah 13 and one opened up for all sin and

  519. all uncleanness. And that's what God did when he

  520. sent his Son to Calvary's cross. And what happened at the cross?

  521. Christ died. Christ died for the ungodly, for

  522. the unclean, scarcely for a righteous man, says Paul.

  523. For a clean man would one die. Yet he says it may be perhaps

  524. peradventure, some thinking that a good man would be worth dying

  525. for. Some would even dare to die.

  526. But God commanded his love toward us, in that while we were

  527. yet sinners on clean sinners, Christ died for us.

  528. What happened at the cross? God put His Son on the cross,

  529. and God made him Christ, who knew no sin to be made sin for

  530. us, to be accounted as a Sinner for us, that we might be made or

  531. accounted righteousness in him. He was numbered with the

  532. transgressors, He was numbered with the unclean, and all that

  533. righteous and all that holy wrath of our God fell upon him.

  534. He was our substitute. Christ died, for on account of

  535. our sins He gave Himself for us. You see, without the shedding of

  536. blood there is no remission, but the blood was shed.

  537. He felt the lash of the whip in Pilot's judgement hall.

  538. He knew what it was to have His hands pierced.

  539. I hear the dole blow of a hammer swung low there kneeling, my

  540. Lord, to the tree, and then it says someone took a spear and

  541. rammed it into his side, and forthwith came out.

  542. What water, water and blood, blood to satisfy the divine law,

  543. water to cleanse the goatly soul.

  544. All we preach tonight, we're not ashamed to preach tonight about

  545. the blood of Jesus Christ godson cleansing us from walls in the

  546. word there cleanseth and it's a mood that it's inner the tents

  547. that it's in in the original language is that it keeps on

  548. cleansing us from all sin captured in the words of the

  549. handwriter. The blood that washed my sins

  550. away still cleanseth every hour you remember the words of the

  551. Saviour to Peter. He that is washed is cleansed

  552. every whip all the Gower clean holy clean.

  553. This is the question analysed. And then thirdly and lastly, it

  554. falls to me tonight very quickly.

  555. We have the question applied and that's where we say, well,

  556. that's very interesting. How does it apply to me?

  557. We make it personal. I hope tonight if you're

  558. unsaved, you're asking this question.

  559. How can I unclean, unsaved, unfit for the purity of God's

  560. heaven? As it stands, the gates will be

  561. locked against me and I will be told that a part is cursed,

  562. because cursed is the man who can keep, not the whole of the

  563. law of God. How can I be clean?

  564. I need to be cleaned again into heaven.

  565. Well, God has opened up this great fountain for us.

  566. The blood has been shed. That blood as we were singing

  567. will never, will never lose its power.

  568. The gospel that has centred on the blood of the Lamb, Jesus

  569. said it will be preached in the world until the end of the age,

  570. and that's when all the purposes of God will be worked out

  571. concerning salvation. That's why we can stand and

  572. preach this so confidently tonight.

  573. Find these boys, Peter and John and all starting off 2000 years

  574. ago the blood had only been shed and you'd maybe say well after

  575. 2000 years has it lost any of its ancient power?

  576. No, it's still the same. It's still the gospel of Christ

  577. which is the power of God unto salvation.

  578. Do everyone not believeth? How do you get this cleansing?

  579. Well the verse it says that blood cleanseth us from all sin

  580. leads to 2 verses down first, John 1:00 and 9:00.

  581. If we confess our sins, That's what I'm saying.

  582. Take the sinner's place. If we confess our sins, not to a

  583. man in a wee box, not to a man sitting round the table the way

  584. they do it now, but if we confess our sins to our great

  585. high priest in heaven, the only priest the Sinner needs, If we

  586. confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins

  587. and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

  588. And what you need to do, and this might be hard, you need to

  589. forsake any other concoction that you might have.

  590. You cannot keep your options open.

  591. It must be Christ and it must be Christ alone.

  592. Any our man made scheme is what the Bible calls unbelief of the

  593. truth. It's a sin, even the entertain.

  594. And to hold on to such a thought, it's a thought that

  595. needs to be repented of because the retainant is to become

  596. worth. I know, I say let it go.

  597. It's useless, it's worthless, it's dangerous.

  598. In Acts chapter 28 and verse 3, we read about the Apostle Paul.

    Acts 28 chapter mention

  599. He survived the great shipwreck. He went on to an island and

  600. everybody of course come in off the sea.

  601. They were wet, they were soaked through, they were cold.

  602. They got a bit of a fire going, as you would, and after a piece

  603. of wood there came out of the wood a deadly vapour and it

  604. fastened itself on the Paul's hand.

  605. You know what the Bible says he did.

  606. He immediately shook it off. And that's what you need to do.

  607. That's what you need to do with any deadly thought that you

  608. might still be entertaining, that there's another way of

  609. cleansing. I say tonight, shake it off,

  610. break off thy sins, repent of it, and lay hold or not finished

  611. work of Christ. The price has been paid, the

  612. work has been done, the invite goes out.

  613. Faith lays hold on eternal life. Will you come tonight?

  614. Wash them, be clean. You know, this is the last night

  615. of a gospel mission. It's always a solemn time

  616. because sometimes there's folks and Welsh, we're glad to see

  617. them and it's wonderful. The only common the gospel

  618. missions. And we don't have them every

  619. hour a week either. And it might well be, and I

  620. don't know, but it could well be.

  621. Maybe you're hearing the gospel for the last time.

  622. There's a great fountain opened up drawn from Emmanuel veins

  623. which you need to come. It's them that come why

  624. shouldn't be cleaned and if you come he gave the great promise

  625. Noel preach medley on Friday night That great thanks to him

  626. that cometh to me. I will in no wise cast out his

  627. blood can make the file as clean his blood avails for me whose

  628. have listened well tonight time is moving on.

  629. If you want to speak with me afterwards we're going to have

  630. this little bit of supper and I'm willing to chat you but you

  631. know just sitting in your seat tonight just sitting in your

  632. seat say Lord, I'm unclean. I've listened to this man who

  633. has preached your word I'm unclean.

  634. Wash me, cleanse me in the blood that flowed on Calvary.
