  1. This morning I would like to look at Luke chapter 10, a passage from Luke chapter 10.

Luke 10 chapter mention Luke 10 chapter mention

  2. ! We'll also look at Luke 9 a little bit, but Christ at the crossroads. How do we set our priorities?

  3. ! Today as Americans, most of us feel like we have limitless possibilities. With a click

  4. or two, we and our families can fill our lives and schedules with fantastic experiences. With

  5. a click or two, we have access to education and information on topics and events we never

  6. knew existed and we can't wait to find somebody to share it with, right? Until our eyes glaze

  7. over. With a click or two, we can fill our houses, our garages, our closets, our pantries

  8. with delightful things from around the globe. What an incredible time to be alive. But we

  9. cannot do it all. We cannot learn it all. And even though you may have a plastic card, we

  10. cannot buy it all. So how do we decide? How do we discern what is good, better, best? What

  11. will make our priority list? After coffee, what is the rest of your top 10 on your priority list

  12. for this week? As a teen, I had the privilege of God bringing a youth pastor into my life who

  13. helped me take significant steps of growth as a follower of Jesus. A tool I was introduced

  14. to was a priority list. The priorities and their order have changed over the years. Obviously,

  15. God and Jesus topped the list. First thing in the morning, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, reading the

  16. word, meditating on it, praying. But then missionaries would come. And they would come to speak and stress,

  17. you really need to get up at five in the morning to spend an hour or more. And oh, as a young person,

  18. the guilt, the feelings of failure that would flood my mind. Lord, I love you. I want to grow in you.

  19. I wanted to make it my aim to please you. But I struggle to prove it. By spending 60 to 90 minutes

  20. every morning, Lord, there must be a better approach. And Jesus shows us that. And I believe

  21. in this passage. Come to the end of chapter 10. In Luke chapter 10, he shows us this in his interaction

    Luke 10 chapter mention

  22. with Martha and Mary. Now, as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village, and a woman named

  23. Martha welcomed him into her house. She had a sister called Mary who sat at Jesus' feet and listened

  24. to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said,

  25. Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.

  26. But the Lord answered her, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things.

  27. But one thing is necessary, and Mary has chosen the good portion which will not be taken from her.

  28. Before you harass all the Marthas in your life, yes, in this passage, Martha seems to earn a bad name.

  29. But Martha has a glorious reputation in Scripture. Before we dive into this, let's just glance at the

  30. context. In Luke chapter 9, Jesus sends the 12 out two by two to proclaim the kingdom of God.

    Luke 9 chapter mention

  31. As simply, take nothing with you, just go simply and proclaim the kingdom of God. He feeds

  32. 5,000 men, women, and children. 5,000 with just loaves and fishes. He foretells his approaching death,

  33. that death is coming. God allows, God the Father allows him to reveal his glory to Peter, James,

  34. and John. And then he announces his approaching death again. Then he gives the priority of humility,

  35. that the least of you will be the greatest. And the priority of counting the cost to proclaiming

  36. the good news of Jesus Christ. Then he has 72 willing to go. In chapter 10, verses 1 and 2,

  37. after this, the Lord appointed 72 others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two into every town and place

  38. where he was about himself about to go. And he said to them, the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.

  39. Therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.

  40. If you were here in the first hour, you saw on those graphics, the harvest is plentiful, and the laborers are few.

  41. Pastor S., who is the host pastor of our main teaching site, has an alarm set on his phone for

  42. 10.02 every day. And at 10.02, the alarm goes off to remind him to pray Luke 10.2.

  43. Lord, please raise up laborers to go into the harvest. I don't know if that would impact your

  44. service time, but if you want to set an alarm right now for 10.02, just to remind you to pray that God,

  45. please raise up laborers. And may that be me. Pastor S. spent a week this spring in an isolated

  46. community of 80,000 practicing this, going in simply, not knowing anybody, and seeking people

  47. that might respond to the gospel. He did it also in a community of 160,000 of no-known believers,

  48. and seeking to proclaim the good news, and saw four come to faith. The message of the gospel

  49. that he gives to the disciples here is very simple. Heal the sick in it, and say to them,

  50. the kingdom of God has come near you. Jesus sends the 72 out into towns, two by two, living simply,

  51. and announcing that God is initiating his rule on earth, beginning in the hearts of men and women,

  52. and also announcing that he can bring healing, and he can bring wholeness to our broken lives.

  53. In these contexts, a life that is transformed by coming to faith in Jesus Christ becomes visibly

  54. different. And it is so exciting to see the healing that has begun in their lives as they submit to

  55. Jesus Christ. But we must receive this. As John would later record, believe in Jesus, trust him,

  56. receive him, trust him that Jesus is who God says he is, that Jesus accomplished what God said he did

  57. by raising him from the dead. And at that moment, you are made alive, you are born of God, you are a

  58. child of God. Jesus tells them as he's sending them out, the one who hears you, hears me. The one who

  59. rejects you, rejects me. And the one who rejects me, rejects him who sent me. The 72 returned with joy

  60. saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name. When you are involved in sharing the

  61. good news, it's not about you. If they reject you, don't take it personally. They're rejecting him.

  62. They're rejecting the good news of the living God and what he has done through Jesus Christ. But you

  63. want to encourage them to receive it. Because at that moment, nevertheless, do not rejoice in this,

  64. that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

  65. Hmm. The moment you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, that he died in your place for your sins,

  66. and that you believe and trust that God raised him from the dead to say that is sufficient.

  67. At that moment, your names are written in heaven. And Luke would later record, there is joy before the

  68. angels of heaven of God over one sinner who repents. You could make heaven shout today. You could make the

  69. angels of heaven shout today by simply coming to trusting faith in Jesus Christ.

  70. Do you take joy in that? Priority, rejoice in whose you are rather than what you can do for him.

  71. Rejoice in whose you are rather than what you can do for him. Could you imagine the disciples,

  72. especially the 12, they'd already been arguing over who had been least or who had been greatest,

  73. and now they come back. Could you imagine them comparing stories? Well, wow, you should have seen this.

  74. You should have seen, well, I just said this. Wow, this happened. And they were trying to maybe even

  75. outdo each other of whose story was bigger. And Jesus said, okay, enough. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in

  76. this, that the Spirit is subject to you. Take your joy that your names are written in heaven, in the Lamb's book

  77. of the living forever.

  78. Lord willing, Lord willing, they will graduate from our program. And in teams, they will move into these

  79. communities and begin house churches. Jesus continues in verse 23.

  80. Then turning to his disciples, he said privately, blessed are the eyes that see what you see.

  81. For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see and did not see it, and to hear what you

  82. hear and did not hear it. Jesus gives them the priority. Rejoice in the blessings of seeing and hearing God's

  83. promised rescue through the Messiah, his son. We get to see and hear what Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Isaiah,

  84. they just hoped to see it. They didn't see it. We get to see it. And some of us have 15, 20 copies of it

  85. in our house in all different languages. We have apps on our phone. We can access it anytime.

  86. But do we? And when we access it, do we take it in as informational, academic information? Or do we take

  87. it in as life-giving word from heaven above that we are blessed of God to see and to hear his active

  88. rescue through Jesus? Jesus continues on with a story. And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test,

  89. saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And he said, Jesus said, what is written in the

  90. law? How do you read it? The lawyer answered, you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,

  91. with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.

  92. Religious people around the world cry out the same question. What shall I do to inherit eternal life?

  93. What shall I do to be right with God? Just please tell me what to do, and I will try to do it.

  94. But Jesus has this man say those priorities. Love God completely,

  95. and love your neighbors as yourself. Jesus first illustrates the priority of loving your neighbor

  96. as yourself. A Jewish man was beat and left for dead. The priest and the temple worker,

  97. they had other priorities, schedule, religious purity, safety. Whatever it was, they just kept walking.

  98. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where this man was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.

  99. He went to him and bound up his wounds, and pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal,

  100. and brought him to an end, and took care of him. And the next day, he took out two denarii,

  101. and gave them to the innkeeper, and said, take care of him, and whatever more you need or spend,

  102. I will repay you when I come back. A Samaritan set aside his other priorities to show love, compassion,

  103. mercy to a Jew who likely would not have done the same for him. To love your neighbor as himself.

  104. Who is your neighbor? Who is your co-worker? Your friend? Your contact? Your schoolmate? Your acquaintance?

  105. That needs a touch of Jesus' love? My daughter had modeled this so well for us. She uses horses to help

  106. young ladies begin to talk and to heal. She looks for those that others would shun.

  107. But on the field, we see it through Pastor Z. Pastor Z and his family had to move out of their

  108. apartments three times in 18 months, whenever the landlords found out that he was a pastor.

  109. Last fall, God gave them a place of their own, and their priority is to use their home to be able

  110. to serve believers, but also to extend Jesus' love to their neighbors who currently despise them.

  111. Every time he leaves the building, someone yells from the window, infidel! And that's where he lives,

  112. but he seeks to gently, kindly love them. In January, we were able to re-begin teaching in his city,

  113. and this is where Pastor Andrew will join me, Lord willing, in September. And what a group. The young

  114. couples have left the comforts of city life in a second world population to serve a desperate region.

  115. They are daily setting the priority of loving women and children that others would despise and have

  116. neglected. If we're going to use a priority list, we see that God might want to have us reorder it.

  117. Love God completely.

  118. Rejoice in whose you are more than what you can do for him. Rejoice in seeing and hearing God's rescue

  119. through his son. Humility. Genuine humility.

  120. Love your neighbor from the heart. Count the cost. It can get expensive to your reputation,

  121. to you personally, to proclaim the good news. Count the cost and trust him. And then proclaim

  122. the good news. You have somewhat limitless opportunities. Are these on your priority list?

  123. Do they make it? But since missionaries are good at making you feel guilty,

  124. I want to introduce you to a tool that has helped me more than lists.

  125. During our internship, I was introduced to a more helpful approach.

  126. Think of priorities and responsibilities of life as a circle.

  127. With seeking God and his rule, his kingdom, his righteousness as the center. That God desires to

  128. have expanding influence on every area of our lives.

  129. God wants us to come to him to sit at his feet, to sit at the feet of Jesus for wisdom and insights

  130. for every area of our life. This is so much more than 15 minutes, 60 minutes in the morning.

  131. This is every moment throughout your day. God, what would you have me to do?

  132. God, in this moment, I want to react in this way. How would you please rule over and guard and guide my reactions?

  133. But in this opportunity to invest our time and resources and our interest in so many different things,

  134. a book that is extremely helpful in evaluating what we hold as the essential center

  135. is Tim Keller's book, Counterfeit Gods.

  136. He writes,

  137. The human heart

  138. is an idol factory.

  139. What is an idol?

  140. It's anything more important to you

  141. than God.

  142. Anything that absorbs your heart

  143. and your imagination

  144. more than God.

  145. Anything you seek

  146. to give you what only God

  147. can give.

  148. Idols are not usually bad things.

  149. But good things

  150. turned into

  151. ultimate things.

  152. Things that constitute our most fundamental significance

  153. and security.

  154. And so they function

  155. as gods

  156. in our lives.

  157. An idol

  158. has such a controlling position

  159. in your heart

  160. that you can spend

  161. most of your passions

  162. and energy,

  163. your emotional and financial resources

  164. on it

  165. without

  166. even a second thought.

  167. It can be a family.

  168. It can be family

  169. and children

  170. or career

  171. and making money

  172. or achievement

  173. and critical acclaim.

  174. Maybe even saving face

  175. and your social standing.

  176. It can be a romantic relationship.

  177. It can be peer approval.

  178. It can be competence

  179. and skill.

  180. Maybe secure

  181. and comfortable

  182. circumstances.

  183. It can be your beauty

  184. for some of you.

  185. Maybe for some of you

  186. it's your brains.

  187. Maybe it's a great political cause

  188. or a social cause.

  189. Your morality

  190. or your virtue

  191. and even for some of us

  192. success in Christian ministry

  193. can begin to have

  194. an idol effect

  195. in our hearts

  196. and minds.

  197. It's whatever you

  198. look at

  199. and think

  200. if I had that

  201. then

  202. I feel my life

  203. has meaning.

  204. Then

  205. I'll know

  206. I have value.

  207. Then

  208. I'll feel

  209. significant

  210. significant

  211. and secure.

  212. What brings

  213. your life

  214. meaning?

  215. What makes you

  216. feel

  217. significant?

  218. Makes you feel

  219. secure?

  220. What is at the center

  221. of your circle?

  222. Or

  223. what segments

  224. of your circle

  225. are out of balance?

  226. What segments

  227. of your circle

  228. are out of touch

  229. to God?

  230. Hey

  231. that's okay

  232. you get my Sunday morning.

  233. Okay

  234. I'll give you a little bit more

  235. but

  236. you can't have that.

  237. What segments

  238. of your life

  239. do you say

  240. God

  241. don't touch

  242. that one?

  243. Matthew 6

  244. therefore

  245. do not be anxious

  246. saying

  247. what shall we eat?

  248. What shall we drink?

  249. Or

  250. what shall we wear?

  251. For the Gentiles

  252. seek after all these things

  253. and your heavenly

  254. Father

  255. he knows

  256. that you need

  257. them all

  258. but seek first

  259. the kingdom of God

  260. and his

  261. righteousness

  262. and all these

  263. things

  264. will be added

  265. to you.

  266. This verse

  267. is in the middle

  268. of Jesus'

  269. longest recorded

  270. sermon

  271. the Sermon on the Mount

  272. sometimes referred to

  273. as the Constitution

  274. of God's kingdom.

  275. If we are going

  276. to be good

  277. citizens

  278. of his kingdom

  279. we must allow

  280. him to rule

  281. from the center

  282. of our lives.

  283. What does

  284. he value?

  285. What is most

  286. important to him?

  287. How can

  288. I please

  289. him?

  290. Let's come back

  291. to our passage

  292. at the end

  293. of Luke 10.

  294. Now as

  295. Jesus and his

  296. disciples

  297. went on their

  298. way

  299. Jesus entered

  300. a village

  301. and a woman

  302. named Martha

  303. welcomed him

  304. into her house.

  305. So before we

  306. go on

  307. Martha is

  308. commendable

  309. okay?

  310. She

  311. invited them

  312. into her

  313. home.

  314. Middle

  315. Eastern

  316. hospitality

  317. is such

  318. that when

  319. you welcome

  320. Jesus and

  321. his 12

  322. smelly friends

  323. into her

  324. home

  325. she was

  326. then

  327. going to

  328. provide them

  329. the comforts

  330. to be able

  331. to cleanse

  332. themselves

  333. to be

  334. comfortable

  335. but also

  336. to do

  337. whatever

  338. they needed

  339. to be fed

  340. to be cared

  341. for.

  342. Even today

  343. if you were

  344. invited into

  345. somebody's

  346. home

  347. and they

  348. said

  349. would you

  350. like to

  351. come in

  352. for tea?

  353. it's not

  354. just a cup

  355. they fill

  356. the table

  357. and then

  358. they continue

  359. and here

  360. in America

  361. when we

  362. set an

  363. appointment

  364. for coffee

  365. 45 minutes

  366. an hour

  367. yeah

  368. I'm busy

  369. I gotta go

  370. I mean

  371. that's just

  372. about as long

  373. as we can

  374. tolerate people

  375. right?

  376. Not so

  377. not so much

  378. in the Middle

  379. Eastern world

  380. when they

  381. invite you

  382. for a cup

  383. of coffee

  384. it's gonna

  385. be a day

  386. it's gonna

  387. be an

  388. experience

  389. and so

  390. here Martha

  391. she didn't

  392. invite them

  393. in for an

  394. hour

  395. she invited

  396. them into

  397. her home

  398. until

  399. they needed

  400. to go

  401. so Martha

  402. is

  403. should be

  404. commended

  405. she would

  406. have fed

  407. them

  408. sought to

  409. feed them

  410. the best

  411. that she

  412. had

  413. but she

  414. had a sister

  415. called Mary

  416. who sat

  417. at the

  418. Lord's feet

  419. and listened

  420. to his

  421. teaching

  422. Mary

  423. sat

  424. at the

  425. Lord's

  426. feet

  427. listening

  428. in Luke

    Luke 8 chapter mention

  429. chapter 8

  430. we are

  431. introduced

  432. Luke does

  433. a great

  434. job in

  435. the Gospels

  436. but also

  437. through the

  438. book of Acts

  439. of seeing

  440. how Christ

  441. and his

  442. people

  443. elevated

  444. the standing

  445. of women

  446. in Luke

  447. 8

  448. women

  449. were following

  450. Jesus

  451. they were

  452. participating

  453. they were

  454. learning

  455. they were

  456. sharing

  457. resources

  458. so here

  459. also

  460. Mary

  461. countercultural

  462. women

  463. did not

  464. sit at the

  465. feet of

  466. a rabbi

  467. they didn't

  468. even sit

  469. anywhere near

  470. the rabbi

  471. they waited

  472. until the

  473. man in their

  474. life told

  475. them what

  476. to believe

  477. and to

  478. think

  479. Mary

  480. sat at

  481. his feet

  482. in a

  483. personal

  484. intimate

  485. way

  486. sitting at

  487. his feet

  488. learning

  489. seeking to

  490. take all

  491. that she

  492. could

  493. to take

  494. in

  495. and to

  496. listen

  497. from him

  498. but

  499. Martha

  500. was

  501. distracted

  502. with

  503. much

  504. serving

  505. she went

  506. up to

  507. him

  508. and said

  509. Lord

  510. do you

  511. not

  512. care

  513. that my

  514. sister

  515. has left

  516. me

  517. to serve

  518. alone

  519. tell her

  520. then

  521. to help

  522. me

  523. is

  524. serving a

  525. bad

  526. thing

  527. no

  528. serving

  529. is

  530. commanded

  531. it's

  532. commended

  533. we

  534. must

  535. serve

  536. but

  537. here

  538. Martha

  539. has

  540. misordered

  541. priorities

  542. with

  543. misordered

  544. priorities

  545. we become

  546. distracted

  547. with

  548. much

  549. serving

  550. we

  551. become

  552. busy

  553. busy

  554. busy

  555. but

  556. we

  557. haven't

  558. spent

  559. time

  560. sitting

  561. and

  562. learning

  563. at

  564. Jesus

  565. feet

  566. with

  567. misordered

  568. priorities

  569. we

  570. begin

  571. to

  572. question

  573. the

  574. character

  575. of

  576. God

  577. do

  578. you

  579. not

  580. care

  581. I'm

  582. serving

  583. in

  584. Iwana

  585. all

  586. alone

  587. do

  588. you

  589. not

  590. care

  591. and

  592. when

  593. we

  594. begin

  595. to

  596. question

  597. the

  598. character

  599. of

  600. God

  601. it

  602. affects

  603. our

  604. relationship

  605. with

  606. God

  607. with

  608. misordered

  609. priorities

  610. we

  611. begin

  612. telling

  613. Jesus

  614. how

  615. he

  616. should

  617. meet

  618. our

  619. priorities

  620. tell

  621. her

  622. then

  623. to

  624. help

  625. me

  626. could

  627. you

  628. imagine

  629. what

  630. the

  631. disciples

  632. must

  633. have

  634. been

  635. thinking

  636. Martha

  637. chill

  638. I

  639. mean

  640. just

  641. a few

  642. days

  643. ago

  644. he

  645. took

  646. bread

  647. and

  648. fish

  649. and fed

  650. 5000

  651. plus

  652. don't

  653. you

  654. think

  655. he

  656. could

  657. take

  658. care

  659. of

  660. us

  661. can

  662. you

  663. imagine

  664. Peter

  665. James

  666. and

  667. John

  668. they

  669. had

  670. seen

  671. the

  672. revealed

  673. glory

  674. of

  675. Jesus

  676. you

  677. think

  678. they

  679. might

  680. have

  681. been

  682. just

  683. shaking

  684. a

  685. little

  686. bit

  687. Martha

  688. do

  689. you

  690. know

  691. who

  692. you're

  693. talking

  694. to

  695. how

  696. often

  697. we

  698. forget

  699. who

  700. we're

  701. talking

  702. to

  703. when

  704. we

  705. have

  706. misordered

  707. priorities

  708. telling

  709. him

  710. our

  711. plan

  712. and

  713. expecting

  714. him

  715. to

  716. carry

  717. it

  718. out

  719. but

  720. the

  721. Lord

  722. answered

  723. her

  724. Martha

  725. Martha

  726. you

  727. were

  728. anxious

  729. and

  730. troubled

  731. about

  732. many

  733. things

  734. with

  735. misordered

  736. priorities

  737. we

  738. can

  739. easily

  740. become

  741. anxious

  742. we

  743. can

  744. be

  745. troubled

  746. about

  747. many

  748. things

  749. and

  750. I

  751. wonder

  752. if

  753. Jesus

  754. was

  755. thinking

  756. Martha

  757. Martha

  758. in

  759. just

  760. a few

  761. weeks

  762. you're

  763. going

  764. to have

  765. something

  766. to

  767. really

  768. be

  769. anxious

  770. and

  771. troubled

  772. about

  773. your

  774. brother

  775. Lazarus

  776. is

  777. going

  778. to

  779. get

  780. sick

  781. and

  782. die

  783. when

  784. we

  785. have

  786. misordered

  787. priorities

  788. little

  789. things

  790. become

  791. ultimate

  792. things

  793. and

  794. we

  795. deny

  796. ourselves

  797. from

  798. the

  799. resources

  800. that

  801. God

  802. wants

  803. to

  804. invest

  805. in

  806. our

  807. lives

  808. in

  809. a

  810. daily

  811. personal

  812. way

  813. but

  814. one

  815. thing

  816. is

  817. necessary

  818. one

  819. thing

  820. is

  821. crucial

  822. and

  823. Mary

  824. has

  825. chosen

  826. the

  827. good

  828. portion

  829. which

  830. will

  831. not

  832. be

  833. taken

  834. from

  835. her

  836. yes

  837. we

  838. should

  839. set

  840. time

  841. to

  842. regularly

  843. sit

  844. at

  845. Jesus

  846. feet

  847. in

  848. his

  849. word

  850. reflecting

  851. on

  852. it

  853. and

  854. many

  855. followers

  856. of

  857. Jesus

  858. have

  859. found

  860. mornings

  861. helpful

  862. to

  863. be able

  864. to have

  865. something

  866. to meditate

  867. on

  868. all day

  869. but

  870. we

  871. should

  872. have

  873. a

  874. continuous

  875. posture

  876. of

  877. humility

  878. we

  879. should

  880. desire

  881. his

  882. presence

  883. his

  884. word

  885. to

  886. rule

  887. every

  888. moment

  889. every

  890. facet

  891. of

  892. our

  893. life

  894. Mary

  895. was

  896. a

  897. living

  898. illustration

  899. of

  900. David's

  901. cry

  902. one

  903. thing

  904. I

  905. have

  906. I

  907. asked

  908. of

  909. the

  910. Lord

  911. that

  912. I

  913. will

  914. seek

  915. after

  916. that

  917. I

  918. may

  919. dwell

  920. in

  921. the

  922. house

  923. of

  924. the

  925. Lord

  926. all

  927. the

  928. days

  929. of

  930. my

  931. life

  932. to

  933. gaze

  934. upon

  935. the

  936. beauty

  937. of

  938. the

  939. Lord

  940. to

  941. inquire

  942. in

  943. his

  944. temple

  945. is

  946. that

  947. the

  948. one

  949. thing

  950. that

  951. is

  952. on

  953. your

  954. mind

  955. is

  956. that

  957. the

  958. one

  959. thing

  960. that

  961. you

  962. wake

  963. up

  964. and

  965. about

  966. Lord

  967. I

  968. want

  969. to

  970. see

  971. you

  972. I

  973. want

  974. to

  975. know

  976. that

  977. you're

  978. here

  979. I

  980. want

  981. to

  982. be

  983. working

  984. at

  985. your

  986. work

  987. I

  988. want

  989. to

  990. dwell

  991. with

  992. you

  993. Lord

  994. please

  995. show

  996. me

  997. what

  998. you

  999. would

  1000. have

  1001. for

  1002. me

  1003. today

  1004. or

  1005. Isaiah's

  1006. proclamation

  1007. all these

  1008. things

  1009. my hand

  1010. has

  1011. made

  1012. so all

  1013. these

  1014. things

  1015. came

  1016. to be

  1017. declares

  1018. the

  1019. Lord

  1020. but

  1021. this

  1022. is

  1023. the

  1024. one

  1025. to

  1026. whom

  1027. I

  1028. will

  1029. look

  1030. who

  1031. is

  1032. humble

  1033. and

  1034. contrite

  1035. in

  1036. spirit

  1037. and

  1038. trembles

  1039. at

  1040. my

  1041. word

  1042. Mary

  1043. was

  1044. God's

  1045. priority

  1046. type

  1047. of

  1048. person

  1049. she

  1050. was

  1051. humble

  1052. she

  1053. was

  1054. contrite

  1055. she

  1056. wanted

  1057. to

  1058. know

  1059. more

  1060. do

  1061. you

  1062. have

  1063. that

  1064. thirst

  1065. that

  1066. longing

  1067. to

  1068. not

  1069. just

  1070. know

  1071. about

  1072. his

  1073. word

  1074. but

  1075. to

  1076. know

  1077. him

  1078. in

  1079. and

  1080. through

  1081. his

  1082. word

  1083. and

  1084. to

  1085. be

  1086. motivated

  1087. out

  1088. of a

  1089. proper

  1090. reverence

  1091. and

  1092. fear

  1093. for

  1094. him

  1095. Mary

  1096. may

  1097. have

  1098. even

  1099. heard

  1100. Jesus

  1101. say

  1102. just

  1103. a few

  1104. weeks

  1105. earlier

  1106. come to

  1107. me

  1108. all who

  1109. labor

  1110. and are

  1111. heavy laden

  1112. and I

  1113. will give

  1114. you rest

  1115. take

  1116. my

  1117. yoke

  1118. upon

  1119. you

  1120. and

  1121. learn

  1122. from

  1123. me

  1124. for

  1125. I

  1126. am

  1127. gentle

  1128. and

  1129. lowly

  1130. in

  1131. heart

  1132. and

  1133. you

  1134. will

  1135. find

  1136. rest

  1137. for

  1138. your

  1139. souls

  1140. for

  1141. my

  1142. yoke

  1143. is

  1144. easy

  1145. and

  1146. my

  1147. burden

  1148. !

  1149. is

  1150. light!

  1151. As a

  1152. young

  1153. person

  1154. we

  1155. sometimes

  1156. we're

  1157. cautious

  1158. about

  1159. trusting

  1160. God

  1161. because

  1162. he

  1163. might

  1164. send

  1165. us

  1166. to

  1167. Africa

  1168. if

  1169. I

  1170. trust

  1171. God

  1172. and

  1173. commit

  1174. to

  1175. following

  1176. his

  1177. will

  1178. and

  1179. his

  1180. kingdom

  1181. what

  1182. might

  1183. he

  1184. do?

  1185. Yeah

  1186. what

  1187. might

  1188. he

  1189. do?

  1190. His

  1191. yoke

  1192. is

  1193. easy

  1194. his

  1195. burden

  1196. is

  1197. light

  1198. are

  1199. you

  1200. Martha

  1201. this

  1202. morning?

  1203. Are

  1204. you

  1205. anxious?

  1206. Are

  1207. you

  1208. troubled?

  1209. Are

  1210. you

  1211. distracted

  1212. even

  1213. with

  1214. good

  1215. things

  1216. with

  1217. much

  1218. serving?

  1219. Come

  1220. regularly

  1221. to the

  1222. feet

  1223. of

  1224. Jesus

  1225. lay

  1226. your

  1227. burdens

  1228. at

  1229. his

  1230. feet

  1231. and

  1232. take

  1233. up

  1234. what

  1235. he

  1236. values

  1237. learn

  1238. from

  1239. him

  1240. find

  1241. rest

  1242. for

  1243. your

  1244. weary

  1245. soul

  1246. and

  1247. allow

  1248. him

  1249. to

  1250. impact

  1251. every

  1252. facet

  1253. every

  1254. moment

  1255. every

  1256. decision

  1257. of

  1258. your

  1259. life

  1260. obviously

  1261. touched

  1262. the wrong

  1263. slide

  1264. there

  1265. you

  1266. go

  1267. so

  1268. it's

  1269. recorded

  1270. in

  1271. acts

  1272. of

  1273. the

  1274. disciples

  1275. and

  1276. there

  1277. is

  1278. salvation

  1279. in

  1280. no

  1281. other

  1282. there

  1283. is

  1284. no

  1285. other

  1286. name

  1287. under

  1288. heaven

  1289. given

  1290. among

  1291. men

  1292. by

  1293. which

  1294. we

  1295. must

  1296. be

  1297. saved

  1298. now

  1299. when

  1300. they

  1301. saw

  1302. the

  1303. boldness

  1304. of

  1305. Peter

  1306. and

  1307. John

  1308. and

  1309. perceived

  1310. that

  1311. they

  1312. were

  1313. uneducated

  1314. common

  1315. men

  1316. they

  1317. were

  1318. astonished

  1319. and

  1320. they

  1321. recognized

  1322. that

  1323. they

  1324. had

  1325. been

  1326. with

  1327. Jesus

  1328. only

  1329. by

  1330. receiving

  1331. Jesus

  1332. trusting

  1333. his

  1334. perfect

  1335. sacrifice

  1336. can

  1337. we

  1338. be

  1339. saved

  1340. and

  1341. made

  1342. right

  1343. with

  1344. God

  1345. and

  1346. to

  1347. be

  1348. able

  1349. to

  1350. come

  1351. alongside

  1352. these

  1353. believers

  1354. in

  1355. cultures

  1356. where

  1357. when

  1358. you

  1359. are

  1360. right

  1361. with

  1362. God

  1363. and

  1364. you

  1365. know

  1366. it

  1367. and

  1368. the

  1369. joy

  1370. explodes

  1371. through

  1372. all

  1373. of

  1374. your

  1375. life

  1376. it's

  1377. visibly

  1378. different

  1379. do

  1380. the

  1381. lost

  1382. around

  1383. you

  1384. know

  1385. can

  1386. they

  1387. tell

  1388. that

  1389. you

  1390. have

  1391. been

  1392. with

  1393. Jesus

  1394. can

  1395. they

  1396. have

  1397. tell

  1398. you

  1399. have

  1400. been

  1401. sitting

  1402. at

  1403. his

  1404. feet

  1405. can

  1406. they

  1407. tell

  1408. that

  1409. you

  1410. were

  1411. filled

  1412. with

  1413. joy

  1414. to

  1415. have

  1416. him

  1417. ruling

  1418. at

  1419. the

  1420. center

  1421. of

  1422. your

  1423. life

  1424. do

  1425. you

  1426. rejoice

  1427. that

  1428. you

  1429. are

  1430. a

  1431. child

  1432. of

  1433. God

  1434. right

  1435. with

  1436. God

  1437. and

  1438. that

  1439. you

  1440. have

  1441. access

  1442. to

  1443. see

  1444. his

  1445. purposes

  1446. and

  1447. plans

  1448. recorded

  1449. throughout

  1450. history

  1451. and

  1452. even

  1453. into

  1454. the

  1455. future

  1456. in

  1457. 2021

  1458. I

  1459. was

  1460. in

  1461. Kyiv

  1462. and

  1463. the

  1464. Ukrainian

  1465. pastor

  1466. he

  1467. scheduled

  1468. an

  1469. Uber

  1470. for us

  1471. it was

  1472. going to

  1473. be an

  1474. hour and

  1475. a half

  1476. ride

  1477. through

  1478. stop

  1479. and

  1480. go

  1481. traffic

  1482. and

  1483. we

  1484. hopped

  1485. in

  1486. the

  1487. Uber

  1488. and

  1489. there

  1490. was

  1491. a

  1492. young

  1493. Iranian

  1494. Persian

  1495. driver

  1496. and

  1497. we

  1498. were

  1499. the

  1500. pastor

  1501. and

  1502. I

  1503. were

  1504. speaking

  1505. English

  1506. to

  1507. each

  1508. other

  1509. he

  1510. was

  1511. the

  1512. pastor

  1513. was

  1514. speaking

  1515. Russian

  1516. to

  1517. the

  1518. Iranian

  1519. driver

  1520. and

  1521. eventually

  1522. the

  1523. driver

  1524. said

  1525. you

  1526. know

  1527. can

  1528. I

  1529. speak

  1530. English

  1531. with

  1532. you

  1533. because

  1534. I'm

  1535. better

  1536. at

  1537. English

  1538. than

  1539. Russian

  1540. sure

  1541. and

  1542. I

  1543. was

  1544. seated

  1545. here

  1546. and

  1547. I

  1548. could

  1549. see

  1550. in

  1551. the

  1552. rearview

  1553. mirror

  1554. I

  1555. could

  1556. see

  1557. his

  1558. eyes

  1559. and

  1560. his

  1561. eyes

  1562. were

  1563. just

  1564. exploding

  1565. joy

  1566. I

  1567. was

  1568. like

  1569. do

  1570. you

  1571. know

  1572. Jesus

  1573. and

  1574. in

  1575. stop

  1576. and

  1577. go

  1578. traffic

  1579. he

  1580. reaches

  1581. over

  1582. into

  1583. the

  1584. glove

  1585. box

  1586. and

  1587. he

  1588. pulls

  1589. out

  1590. a

  1591. New

  1592. Testament

  1593. and

  1594. he

  1595. says

  1596. oh

  1597. yes

  1598. and

  1599. I

  1600. hand

  1601. these

  1602. out

  1603. every

  1604. chance

  1605. I

  1606. get

  1607. in

  1608. a

  1609. Farsi

  1610. Persian

  1611. New

  1612. Testament

  1613. so

  1614. much

  1615. so

  1616. that

  1617. now

  1618. the

  1619. Iranian

  1620. embassy

  1621. has

  1622. blacklisted

  1623. me

  1624. and

  1625. if

  1626. I

  1627. ever

  1628. go

  1629. back

  1630. to

  1631. Iran

  1632. I

  1633. will

  1634. be

  1635. arrested

  1636. but

  1637. he

  1638. had

  1639. just

  1640. such

  1641. extreme

  1642. joy

  1643. and

  1644. I

  1645. said

  1646. you

  1647. know

  1648. I

  1649. was

  1650. here

  1651. in

  1652. 2003

  1653. and

  1654. one

  1655. of

  1656. our

  1657. students

  1658. one

  1659. of

  1660. Byron's

  1661. students

  1662. was

  1663. Persian

  1664. and

  1665. he

  1666. hoped

  1667. to

  1668. begin

  1669. Persian

  1670. churches

  1671. here

  1672. in

  1673. Kiev

  1674. I

  1675. don't

  1676. know

  1677. if

  1678. you

  1679. know

  1680. him

  1681. his

  1682. name

  1683. is

  1684. Ali

  1685. Ali

  1686. he's

  1687. my

  1688. spiritual

  1689. father

  1690. 20

  1691. years

  1692. later

  1693. and

  1694. the

  1695. joy

  1696. of

  1697. of

  1698. Ali

  1699. had

  1700. spread

  1701. to

  1702. Hamed

  1703. and

  1704. now

  1705. joy

  1706. Hamed

  1707. has

  1708. the

  1709. joy

  1710. he's

  1711. now

  1712. in

  1713. Germany

  1714. with

  1715. his

  1716. wife

  1717. and

  1718. not

  1719. sure

  1720. Germany

  1721. wants

  1722. to

  1723. send

  1724. him

  1725. back

  1726. to

  1727. Iran

  1728. but

  1729. his

  1730. life

  1731. has

  1732. been

  1733. marked

  1734. by

  1735. the

  1736. joy

  1737. of

  1738. knowing

  1739. that

  1740. he

  1741. is

  1742. a

  1743. child

  1744. of

  1745. God

  1746. and

  1747. that

  1748. he

  1749. spends

  1750. time

  1751. at

  1752. his

  1753. feet

  1754. in

  1755. his

  1756. word

  1757. learning

  1758. from

  1759. him

  1760. so

  1761. much

  1762. so

  1763. he's

  1764. willing

  1765. !

  1766. to

  1767. risk

  1768. his

  1769. life

  1770. to

  1771. distribute

  1772. the

  1773. good

  1774. news

  1775. He's

  1776. counted

  1777. the

  1778. cost

  1779. to

  1780. hand

  1781. out

  1782. the

  1783. good

  1784. news

  1785. wherever

  1786. whenever

  1787. if you

  1788. don't know

  1789. Jesus

  1790. there are

  1791. many here

  1792. that would

  1793. love to

  1794. take the

  1795. time

  1796. to explain

  1797. to you

  1798. clearly

  1799. how you

  1800. could know

  1801. for certain

  1802. that your

  1803. sins are

  1804. forgiven

  1805. and you

  1806. could be

  1807. right with

  1808. God

  1809. through

  1810. simple

  1811. trusting

  1812. faith

  1813. that he

  1814. died

  1815. in your

  1816. place

  1817. and that

  1818. God

  1819. raised

  1820. him

  1821. from

  1822. the

  1823. dead

  1824. come

  1825. talk

  1826. to

  1827. me

  1828. pastor

  1829. Andrew

  1830. pastor

  1831. David

  1832. many

  1833. others

  1834. that you

  1835. could

  1836. know

  1837. for certain

  1838. the joy

  1839. and you

  1840. could make

  1841. angels sing

  1842. and rejoice

  1843. in heaven

  1844. but you

  1845. could also

  1846. know

  1847. the joy

  1848. of sitting

  1849. innocently

  1850. at his

  1851. feet

  1852. that he

  1853. wants to

  1854. be the

  1855. Lord

  1856. of every

  1857. moment

  1858. of your

  1859. life

  1860. and with

  1861. him

  1862. he

  1863. could

  1864. make

  1865. our

  1866. moments

  1867. meaningful

  1868. and

  1869. eternal

  1870. and eternally

  1871. glorious

  1872. to him

  1873. dearly

  1874. father

  1875. I thank

  1876. you so

  1877. much

  1878. for this

  1879. church

  1880. family

  1881. thank you

  1882. for their

  1883. commitment

  1884. to you

  1885. and to

  1886. each

  1887. other

  1888. thank you

  1889. for their

  1890. commitment

  1891. to spreading

  1892. the good

  1893. news

  1894. in Columbus

  1895. and around

  1896. the world

  1897. Lord

  1898. please

  1899. bless

  1900. them

  1901. Lord

  1902. help

  1903. each

  1904. of us

  1905. sit

  1906. quietly

  1907. at your

  1908. feet

  1909. that you

  1910. may speak

  1911. into our

  1912. lives

  1913. in all

  1914. the

  1915. busyness

  1916. and all

  1917. the things

  1918. that call

  1919. for our

  1920. attention

  1921. our

  1922. affections

  1923. may you

  1924. firmly

  1925. have the

  1926. throne

  1927. of our

  1928. heart

  1929. may we

  1930. allow you

  1931. access

  1932. to every

  1933. moment

  1934. to every

  1935. facet

  1936. in Jesus

  1937. name we

  1938. pray

  1939. amen
