  1. If you would take the Word of God with me and turn to Matthew chapter 13.

    Matthew 13 chapter mention

  2. ! While you're turning there, we've been in this series called Stories of the Kingdom,

  3. going through some of the parables of Jesus.

  4. I figured in a Baptist church, it's probably not a bad idea to talk about what Jesus talked

  5. about when He was on this earth, right?

  6. We can spend our time looking at a lot of different things,

  7. but it's not a bad idea to talk about what Jesus Himself talked about when He was on this earth.

  8. So, we're going through this series looking at these parables or illustrative stories.

  9. These stories that would make a point, they had a moral, so to speak,

  10. and they were all about the kingdom of God.

  11. God was revealing to us what the kingdom of God is.

  12. So, we're going to look at Matthew chapter 13.

    Matthew 13 chapter mention

  13. And we're going to look down toward the end of the chapter, verses 44 through 46.

  14. Matthew chapter 13.

    Matthew 13 chapter mention

  15. And our title this morning is, our theme is Treasures and Pearls.

  16. Treasures and Pearls.

  17. So, that's what we're talking about.

  18. That's what we're diving into with our Stories of the Kingdom series today.

  19. Would you mind standing with me?

  20. I know we've stood up and down a little bit during this service,

  21. but would you mind standing with me in honor of reading God's Word one final time this morning,

  22. if you're able to.

  23. Matthew 13, beginning in verse 44.

  24. The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field.

  25. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned

  26. to get enough money to buy the field.

  27. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls.

  28. When he discovered a pearl of great value,

  29. he sold everything he owned and bought it.

  30. Let's pray together.

  31. God, I pray that you would give us understanding of what you were teaching us

  32. so many years ago when you first gave this parable.

  33. I pray that we would understand what kingdom value is all about.

  34. Give us wisdom and enlightenment from your scriptures by your spirit.

  35. It's in Jesus' name we pray.

  36. Amen.

  37. You may be seated.

  38. Thank you for standing.

  39. Let's dive in.

  40. Number one, we're going to look at the poor man.

  41. We see two different people here,

  42. two different characters or players in this story.

  43. We see a poor man and a rich man.

  44. We're going to look at the poor man first.

  45. Now, they're not exactly called poor man and rich man,

  46. but it's intimated, it's understood by the story what they're talking about.

  47. So we can learn what kind of person this is,

  48. what kind of individual this is.

  49. So let's look at the poor man.

  50. And first, it says,

  51. treasure was hidden in a ground.

  52. Do you know why that would happen?

  53. Oftentimes, when people would have to leave their home for whatever reason,

  54. maybe they're going on a long journey,

  55. maybe there's war in the area,

  56. maybe they were arrested,

  57. maybe they were in debt and thrown into debtor's prison,

  58. whatever it was,

  59. they would take their valuables, their treasure,

  60. and usually that they would keep hidden in their home,

  61. remember, no banks like we have them today back then.

  62. So instead, if they were going to leave their home,

  63. then they would bury them in the ground,

  64. hopefully deep enough that nobody would find them,

  65. and then later, when they anticipated their return,

  66. coming back to their home,

  67. they would dig it up and have their treasure.

  68. Oftentimes, they never came back,

  69. and the treasure would just be buried there.

  70. Sometimes the land would change hands.

  71. Sometimes a wealthy man might buy up a field,

  72. and he would employ workers to work the field.

  73. And what happens?

  74. One of those workers, one of those day laborers,

  75. one of those poor people,

  76. kind of at the bottom of the economic scale,

  77. is out there, manual labor,

  78. digging in the field, working for somebody else,

  79. and he finds a treasure.

  80. Now, the rule was, apparently,

  81. that if you dug the treasure out

  82. and lifted it out,

  83. then you would have to take that treasure

  84. to whoever owned the field.

  85. If it was you,

  86. then you get the treasure.

  87. But if it was owned by somebody else,

  88. that treasure would, by right, belong to them.

  89. So, you notice what happens.

  90. The man does not lift it out of the ground.

  91. He finds it,

  92. and he hid it again.

  93. He covered it back up

  94. because he's smart, right?

  95. So, the law would require

  96. that if he took it out,

  97. then he would have to turn it over

  98. to whoever owned the land.

  99. But instead, he left it in the ground,

  100. and he made a plan.

  101. And his plan was,

  102. I've got to get enough money together

  103. to buy this field.

  104. So, what did he do?

  105. He went all in.

  106. He sold everything he had.

  107. He went around and probably borrowed money

  108. from family or friends.

  109. He did everything he could,

  110. maybe took on a side job.

  111. We don't know how long it took him

  112. to buy this field,

  113. but that became his one goal.

  114. Why?

  115. Because he could work

  116. for year after year

  117. at his wages

  118. and never, ever reach

  119. the value of this treasure

  120. that he had found.

  121. So...

  122. Okay.

  123. Maybe we should stop and pray right now

  124. for whatever's going on there.

  125. So, he's all in on this treasure.

  126. He knows this is the most amount of money,

  127. this is the greatest thing of value

  128. that he's ever going to find in his life.

  129. So, he's got a plan.

  130. So, what happened?

  131. He came,

  132. and he sold everything

  133. he had

  134. to get enough money

  135. to buy the field.

  136. So, then he goes to the rich man,

  137. he goes to the owner of the field,

  138. his employer,

  139. and says,

  140. listen,

  141. I've put all my money together.

  142. I've been spending time

  143. working this field.

  144. I want to buy this field from you.

  145. And I can't imagine

  146. that he gave him

  147. a bargain rate on it.

  148. Maybe he felt bad for him.

  149. I don't know.

  150. We're filling in the blanks

  151. on some of this.

  152. It doesn't get us

  153. into the weeds on this.

  154. But,

  155. the point is,

  156. he valued so greatly

  157. that he abandoned

  158. everything else

  159. and went all in

  160. on this treasure.

  161. Why?

  162. Because he found something

  163. of so much greater value

  164. than anything else

  165. in his life.

  166. And he knew that.

  167. Said,

  168. this is a sure thing.

  169. Stock market might go up,

  170. stock market might go down,

  171. but this treasure

  172. has inherent value.

  173. And if I can own this field,

  174. then this treasure

  175. will belong to me.

  176. Would you go to Romans

    Romans 10 chapter mention

  177. chapter 10 and verse 20?

  178. Romans chapter 10 and verse 20.

    Romans 10 chapter mention

  179. This poor man

  180. found something

  181. of such great value,

  182. he happily gave up

  183. everything he had

  184. to pay the price

  185. of the field.

  186. He made no excuses,

  187. but went all in

  188. on the treasure he found.

  189. You ever been around somebody

  190. who just seemed like

  191. they were always stuck

  192. in the same rut

  193. because every time

  194. they had an opportunity

  195. to get out of that situation

  196. and improve things,

  197. they always had

  198. all kinds of excuses

  199. for why they couldn't do it.

  200. Why they couldn't really

  201. change their circumstances.

  202. Why they couldn't really

  203. improve their financial situation

  204. or whatever it might be.

  205. There was always

  206. all kinds of excuses.

  207. Well,

  208. life just hadn't been

  209. kind to me.

  210. Well,

  211. that's just not

  212. my lot in life.

  213. I'm always going to be poor.

  214. I'm always going to be

  215. in bad health,

  216. whatever it is.

  217. Let's look at

  218. Romans chapter 10

    Romans 10 chapter mention

  219. and verse 20.

  220. Later Isaiah,

  221. the prophet Isaiah

  222. spoke boldly for God.

  223. And there's a quote

  224. back to the book of Isaiah.

  225. It says,

  226. I was found by people

  227. who were not looking for me.

  228. I showed myself

  229. to those

  230. who were not

  231. asking for me.

  232. Let's go to Matthew chapter 10

    Matthew 10 chapter mention

  233. and verse 20.

  234. Do you understand

  235. this guy did not go out

  236. thinking he was going

  237. to find a treasure?

  238. But he found

  239. a great treasure.

  240. He did not go out

  241. that day

  242. thinking that he would

  243. absolutely turn

  244. his life around

  245. and yet he stumbled

  246. upon something

  247. that had the power

  248. to do just that.

  249. And he saw

  250. the value in it.

  251. He recognized

  252. the value in it.

  253. We're setting the stage here.

  254. We're going to get

  255. to the main point

  256. in just a minute.

  257. So stick with me.

  258. Understand the value.

  259. Matthew chapter 10

    Matthew 10 chapter mention

  260. and verse 39.

  261. If you cling to your life,

  262. you will what?

  263. Lose it.

  264. But if you give up

  265. your life for me,

  266. you will what?

  267. Find it.

  268. There's the key.

  269. That's what the poor man

  270. understood.

  271. He could cling

  272. to his way of life,

  273. but what would that get him?

  274. He would just keep losing.

  275. He could cling

  276. to everything he knew.

  277. He could cling

  278. to what was comfortable.

  279. He could cling

  280. to not maybe

  281. what was easy

  282. because he probably

  283. had a hard life,

  284. but maybe it felt safer

  285. than the unknown.

  286. Maybe it was less scary

  287. than venturing out

  288. with newfound riches.

  289. But instead,

  290. he said,

  291. no.

  292. I have found something

  293. of such greater value,

  294. I'll never find

  295. anything better

  296. than this.

  297. You hear that?

  298. I'll never find

  299. anything better

  300. than this.

  301. Now,

  302. do you see

  303. where we're going

  304. with this?

  305. When you find

  306. Jesus,

  307. you'll never find

  308. anything better

  309. than this.

  310. when you find hope,

  311. when you find life,

  312. when you find joy,

  313. when you find peace,

  314. when you find contentment,

  315. when you find compassion,

  316. when you find kindness,

  317. when you find all

  318. that is wrapped up

  319. in the person of Jesus,

  320. you'll never find

  321. anything better than that.

  322. And Jesus is calling you

  323. to give up your life

  324. for him.

  325. because in doing so,

  326. he will give you

  327. so much better

  328. than you could ever

  329. find on your own.

  330. You can cling

  331. to the scraps

  332. that you have.

  333. Last Sunday,

  334. we talked about

  335. the marriage feast

  336. and the king

  337. extended out

  338. the invitation

  339. to all of those

  340. in the streets,

  341. not his usual guest list,

  342. but he said,

  343. anybody,

  344. come eat at my table,

  345. come feast with me,

  346. because I know you're not

  347. eating like this at home.

  348. I eat like this every day.

  349. I'm the king,

  350. but I'm welcoming you

  351. into my table now.

  352. I want to share

  353. my wealth with you.

  354. And I'm telling you, folks,

  355. you can pursue everything

  356. that everybody around you

  357. is pursuing,

  358. but it's not

  359. the king's table.

  360. It's not the treasure

  361. that he is offering

  362. for you to find.

  363. If you find Jesus,

  364. you've found everything.

  365. So, that's principle

  366. number one.

  367. The poor man,

  368. he gave up everything

  369. in his life

  370. for the treasure

  371. because he knew

  372. it was of greater value

  373. than anything else.

  374. He didn't cling

  375. to his life.

  376. But you know what happens?

  377. Sometimes we want

  378. to cling to it.

  379. Sometimes there are habits,

  380. there are distractions,

  381. there are passions,

  382. there are interests,

  383. that we have in our lives

  384. that do not mesh

  385. with Jesus.

  386. We might try to force them

  387. to work.

  388. We might try to play

  389. both sides.

  390. Oh yeah, I've got Jesus

  391. on Sundays

  392. and I've got everything else

  393. that I'm interested in

  394. the rest of the week.

  395. That's clinging to your life.

  396. It's not giving it up

  397. for the treasure.

  398. So you're abandoning

  399. this treasure

  400. of greater value

  401. than any of that

  402. could ever be

  403. and you're clinging

  404. to something

  405. that will ultimately

  406. cause you

  407. to lose your life,

  408. to waste your life.

  409. And graduates in the room,

  410. I don't want to see you do that.

  411. Don't cling

  412. to what will never

  413. get you

  414. where God wants you to go.

  415. Hold things loosely.

  416. Hold cars loosely.

  417. Hold even jobs.

  418. Dedicate yourself.

  419. Do whatever your hand

  420. finds to do.

  421. Do it with all your strength,

  422. all your might.

  423. Do it to the glory of God.

  424. But don't hold on

  425. to the things of this earth

  426. so tightly.

  427. Hold them loosely

  428. because those things

  429. come and go

  430. but God's words

  431. remain forever.

  432. The things that God gives you,

  433. that will never fade away.

  434. that is a treasure

  435. that will last eternity.

  436. The problem is

  437. it will cost you something.

  438. It will cause you

  439. to give something up.

  440. Folks,

  441. we love to see people

  442. get baptized.

  443. We saw pictures

  444. even in the graduate

  445. photo,

  446. whatever you call those,

  447. slideshows,

  448. there you go,

  449. of people getting baptized,

  450. graduates getting baptized.

  451. What a powerful testimony

  452. of life change.

  453. But can I promise you,

  454. and some of those

  455. graduates know that.

  456. Some of it was

  457. in their testimonies

  458. that when you choose

  459. to follow Jesus,

  460. he's going to ask you

  461. to give something up.

  462. And it might not be

  463. immediately what you think.

  464. It will cost you something.

  465. Actually,

  466. it will cost you

  467. everything.

  468. If you're truly

  469. going to follow Jesus,

  470. you're going to have

  471. to give up everything.

  472. He might give some

  473. of it back to you.

  474. Or he'll give you

  475. something better.

  476. You don't understand

  477. that at first.

  478. I don't understand

  479. that at first.

  480. And I get scared

  481. when I lose something

  482. for the sake of Jesus.

  483. And I get nervous.

  484. Man,

  485. my bank account

  486. doesn't look

  487. how it used to look.

  488. My retirement,

  489. what am I going to do now?

  490. Those relationships

  491. that are causing me

  492. heartbreak right now,

  493. the emptiness sometimes.

  494. and then I find,

  495. boy,

  496. God fills that emptiness

  497. better than anything

  498. ever it has before.

  499. These new relationships

  500. that I have

  501. with my church family,

  502. with the people

  503. in my life

  504. that I know

  505. follow Jesus

  506. and I'm strengthening myself

  507. and now I'm pouring out

  508. to others

  509. with new relationships

  510. who need to find Jesus

  511. and God's using me

  512. in a way to do that.

  513. And all of a sudden,

  514. your life becomes

  515. so much more fulfilling

  516. than it ever was.

  517. but you'll never taste that

  518. if you hold on

  519. to everything

  520. you have now.

  521. You know the story

  522. of the little kid

  523. who reached his hand

  524. in the cookie jar

  525. and he grabbed

  526. as many cookies

  527. as he possibly could

  528. and he couldn't get

  529. his hand back out

  530. because he was holding on

  531. to all of the cookies

  532. and it's like,

  533. look man,

  534. let go, right?

  535. Let go

  536. and you can enjoy

  537. this treasure

  538. you found

  539. but if you hold on

  540. to what you think

  541. you want

  542. you'll never experience

  543. what God wants for you

  544. and it's so much better.

  545. It's so much purer.

  546. It's so much more fulfilling.

  547. So that's the rich man.

  548. Now,

  549. let's go to Matthew chapter 19.

    Matthew 19 chapter mention

  550. Matthew chapter 19,

    Matthew 19 chapter mention

  551. few verses there

  552. beginning in verse 16.

  553. While you're turning,

  554. I want to remind you

  555. that those who were

  556. looking for God,

  557. I'm sorry,

  558. those who were never

  559. looking for God,

  560. God was looking for them.

  561. Isn't it a blessing

  562. to know

  563. that when I wasn't

  564. seeking Jesus,

  565. Jesus sought me out.

  566. Jesus came to find me.

  567. That's what we read

  568. in Romans chapter 10.

    Romans 10 chapter mention

  569. Some of us stumble

  570. into the kingdom of God.

  571. Isn't that interesting?

  572. Some of us, man,

  573. we seek it out.

  574. Some of us were raised

  575. seeking God.

  576. Some of us weren't.

  577. Some of us stumbled

  578. backwards

  579. into the kingdom of God.

  580. God stopped wicked Saul

  581. in his tracks

  582. and turned him

  583. into his servant Paul

  584. in the New Testament

  585. on the Damascus road.

  586. He was working against God

  587. and God arrested him,

  588. stopped him dead

  589. in his tracks

  590. on his way

  591. to do more harm

  592. to God's people

  593. and then he turned him

  594. into one of his

  595. most powerful servants

  596. we ever have record of.

  597. Now look at Matthew

    Matthew 19:16

  598. chapter 19,

  599. verse 16.

  600. Someone came to Jesus

  601. with this question.

  602. Teacher,

  603. what good deed

  604. must I do

  605. to have eternal life?

  606. Let me ask you

  607. as that.

  608. Church,

  609. this morning,

  610. what good deed

  611. must I do

  612. to have eternal life?

  613. Nothing.

  614. Nothing.

  615. There's no good deed

  616. that I can do.

  617. Why?

  618. Because nothing I can do

  619. can give me eternal life.

  620. God holds the keys to that.

  621. He has to give that to me.

  622. I have to humble myself

  623. and place my faith in him

  624. and then he gives me

  625. eternal life.

  626. So,

  627. he's off from the beginning

  628. but Jesus is going to teach him

  629. something.

  630. Verse 17,

  631. why ask me

  632. about what is good?

  633. Jesus replied,

  634. there's only one

  635. who is good

  636. but to answer your question,

  637. if you want to receive

  638. eternal life,

  639. keep the commandments.

  640. That's the law.

  641. That's the Old Testament law.

  642. The Ten Commandments

  643. is the big one.

  644. There are many other commandments

  645. given throughout

  646. the Old Testament.

  647. Verse 18,

  648. which ones,

  649. the man asked.

  650. Jesus replied,

  651. you must not murder,

  652. you must not commit adultery,

  653. you must not steal,

  654. you must not testify falsely,

  655. honor your father

  656. and your mother,

  657. love your neighbor

  658. as yourself.

  659. He just gave him

  660. the highlights,

  661. right?

  662. And the man says,

  663. I've obeyed all these commandments,

  664. the young man replied.

  665. What else must I do?

  666. Jesus said,

  667. if you want to be perfect,

  668. go and sell

  669. all your possessions

  670. and give the money

  671. to the poor

  672. and then you'll have

  673. treasure in heaven

  674. and then come

  675. and follow me.

  676. You know,

  677. an interesting thing.

  678. I think Jesus

  679. is referencing here

  680. the great commandment

  681. that he gave.

  682. He said,

  683. there's a new commandment

  684. that I give you

  685. to love one another

  686. as I have loved you

  687. and on this one commandment,

  688. all those Old Testament

  689. commandments

  690. now hang off of this one.

  691. So if you're not

  692. obeying this commandment,

  693. it's like you've

  694. disobeyed all of them.

  695. So I think he's

  696. communicating that

  697. to this guy.

  698. He says,

  699. you think you followed

  700. all these commandments

  701. and the truth is,

  702. I'm sure that guy

  703. had not even obeyed

  704. all those perfectly.

  705. I'm sure he tried to.

  706. He's probably a moral

  707. upstanding guy.

  708. Probably a kid

  709. who mostly stayed

  710. out of trouble, right?

  711. But nobody's perfect

  712. and there's no way

  713. he was either.

  714. But Jesus says,

  715. if you want to be perfect,

  716. love like I love.

  717. Go and give up

  718. everything on this earth.

  719. Give it all away

  720. and follow me.

  721. And what happened?

  722. The young man said,

  723. yes sir, master,

  724. I will follow you

  725. to the end of my days.

  726. No, he didn't.

  727. Because we know

  728. his heart

  729. was not perfect.

  730. His heart

  731. was selfish.

  732. The young man

  733. heard this

  734. and he went away sad

  735. because he had

  736. many possessions.

  737. What are you

  738. holding on to

  739. that God wants you

  740. to exchange

  741. for his treasure?

  742. You've all met Jesus.

  743. You've all had

  744. the encounter.

  745. Doesn't mean

  746. you're saved.

  747. Doesn't mean

  748. you placed your faith

  749. in him.

  750. But you've all heard

  751. about Jesus Christ.

  752. You've found

  753. the treasure.

  754. Now will you

  755. give it all up

  756. for him?

  757. Will you give it all up

  758. for that treasure?

  759. Young people,

  760. going off to college,

  761. you are going to be

  762. tested.

  763. Your faith will be tested

  764. in so many ways.

  765. What will you

  766. hold on to

  767. that will keep you

  768. from the treasure

  769. of Jesus?

  770. Speaking of that,

  771. let's go back

  772. to Matthew 13

  773. where we started.

  774. Matthew 13.

  775. We looked at the poor man,

  776. now we're looking

  777. at the rich man.

  778. The rich young ruler

  779. that we just read about

  780. that Jesus talked to,

  781. he would not pay the cost.

  782. The cost was everything

  783. and he cared too much

  784. for his possessions.

  785. He cared too much

  786. for his truck,

  787. for his boat,

  788. for his 401k,

  789. for his vacations,

  790. for his sports leagues,

  791. for living vicariously

  792. through his kids,

  793. whatever it was,

  794. okay,

  795. whatever it was

  796. that was keeping him

  797. from pursuing Jesus

  798. because he was scared

  799. of what he might lose

  800. and that's what happens to us.

  801. We get scared

  802. of what we might lose.

  803. Well see,

  804. I know what God wants for me

  805. but this is what is important to me

  806. and I'm afraid

  807. he won't meet that need.

  808. I'm afraid

  809. he won't fulfill that

  810. and we never get to experience

  811. how good,

  812. how fulfilling

  813. he wants this life

  814. to be for us.

  815. So,

  816. verse 45.

  817. Matthew 13.

  818. Let's look at it again.

  819. Again,

  820. the kingdom of heaven

  821. is like a merchant

  822. on the lookout

  823. for choice pearls.

  824. Totally different situation here.

  825. When he discovered

  826. a pearl of great value,

  827. he sold everything he owned

  828. and bought it.

  829. You see,

  830. wealthy merchants

  831. would travel around the world

  832. seeking out precious materials,

  833. jewels,

  834. stones,

  835. money,

  836. gold,

  837. whatever,

  838. precious herbs

  839. at the time

  840. and they would sell them

  841. for a profit.

  842. So,

  843. they would go to the source,

  844. try to find them,

  845. get them at a bargain rate

  846. and then turn around

  847. and sell them

  848. at their highest margin.

  849. pearls

  850. was a great one.

  851. The ladies of the Roman court

  852. would wear pearl necklaces.

  853. It was like

  854. the diamonds of the day,

  855. basically.

  856. And so,

  857. this man came

  858. and found

  859. a great pearl,

  860. the greatest pearl.

  861. In Jesus' story here,

  862. his illustration

  863. that he's telling everyone,

  864. this guy found the pearl

  865. to beat all pearls,

  866. the mother pearl,

  867. mother of pearl,

  868. sorry,

  869. I got off track.

  870. But you understand,

  871. he found the greatest thing.

  872. So,

  873. this was a guy

  874. who was not poor.

  875. This was a guy

  876. who did not work

  877. for someone else.

  878. He was his own boss.

  879. He probably employed others

  880. and he is a treasure hunter,

  881. a treasure seeker,

  882. entrepreneurial.

  883. He'd go out

  884. and he would make

  885. the biggest margin he could.

  886. and what happened?

  887. He found the pearl.

  888. He found the big heist.

  889. He found the big treasure.

  890. He hit the mother load

  891. and he knew it.

  892. And he said,

  893. everything I've found

  894. before this

  895. doesn't measure up

  896. to what I just found.

  897. Do you see the similarity here?

  898. You see the principle

  899. that Jesus is trying

  900. to get across?

  901. Everything that I have had

  902. up until this point

  903. when I found this treasure,

  904. it doesn't match in value.

  905. This is the greatest thing.

  906. Now,

  907. most of us would agree

  908. in this room,

  909. Jesus is better

  910. than all of us.

  911. Jesus is greater.

  912. Jesus is higher.

  913. Many of us would say,

  914. yes,

  915. my faith is the most important

  916. thing in my life,

  917. but our actions,

  918. our way of life,

  919. what we're willing

  920. to walk away from

  921. says that is a lie.

  922. It says we don't

  923. really believe that.

  924. But this rich man did.

  925. He saw something

  926. that was truly

  927. the greatest value.

  928. But sometimes,

  929. we got too much going on.

  930. We've got too much

  931. of a life

  932. that we have built up

  933. for ourselves

  934. and we're not willing

  935. to let God

  936. move us away from it.

  937. We're not willing

  938. to let God

  939. change our direction

  940. until you've been

  941. radically changed

  942. by God.

  943. God,

  944. you haven't really

  945. experienced Jesus.

  946. He will radically

  947. change you.

  948. It might be quick.

  949. It might be over time.

  950. But He will

  951. change you.

  952. And if you haven't

  953. truly been

  954. changed by Jesus,

  955. then maybe you haven't

  956. yet encountered Him.

  957. Maybe you've heard

  958. about Him.

  959. Maybe you're Jesus

  960. adjacent.

  961. Right?

  962. Maybe you've attended

  963. church every once

  964. in a while.

  965. Maybe you're faithful

  966. in church.

  967. Maybe you could answer

  968. Bible trivia.

  969. Maybe you grew up

  970. in Sunday school.

  971. But you haven't really

  972. been changed

  973. by Jesus.

  974. Because when you

  975. really encounter Him,

  976. He'll change

  977. your direction.

  978. He'll make you

  979. give something up.

  980. And you'll be glad to.

  981. You'll be happy to.

  982. Because you realize

  983. how much more valuable

  984. it is.

  985. Philippians chapter 3.

    Philippians 3 chapter mention

  986. Paul said,

  987. listen,

  988. I had a lot going on.

  989. This Paul guy

  990. that was Saul,

  991. and we talked about

  992. him a minute ago,

  993. God changed him

  994. on the road to Damascus.

  995. He's literally

  996. persecuting Christians,

  997. working for the government,

  998. got a high paying salary.

  999. He says,

  1000. look,

  1001. I could have had

  1002. confidence in my own

  1003. effort if anyone could.

  1004. If others have reason

  1005. for confidence

  1006. in their efforts,

  1007. I could have had

  1008. even more.

  1009. Now,

  1010. this may not

1011. match up with your resume,

  1012. but back then

1013. this was a great resume.

  1014. Okay?

  1015. I was circumcised

1016. when I was eight days old.

1017. That was like a big thing

  1018. back then,

  1019. because only the Jews

  1020. did it.

  1021. I am a pure-blooded

  1022. citizen of Israel.

  1023. I'm a member

1024. of the tribe of Benjamin,

  1025. a real Hebrew

1026. if there ever was one.

  1027. I was a member

  1028. of the Pharisees.

1029. Those were the top dogs,

  1030. right?

  1031. Top dogs,

1032. not only on the religious scale,

  1033. but also in society.

  1034. I was a member

  1035. of the Pharisees

  1036. who demand

  1037. the strictest obedience

  1038. to the Jewish law.

  1039. I was so zealous,

  1040. I harshly persecuted

  1041. the church,

  1042. Jesus' followers.

  1043. They were not

  1044. the predominant religion

  1045. of the day.

  1046. And as for righteousness,

  1047. I obeyed the law

  1048. without fault.

  1049. It's kind of like

  1050. that other guy

  1051. that Jesus talked to,

  1052. right?

  1053. I obeyed the law.

  1054. I didn't mess up.

  1055. But he knew

  1056. he wasn't perfect

  1057. because his heart

  1058. was wrong.

  1059. That's the problem.

  1060. You can go day

  1061. after day

  1062. without violating

  1063. any Ten Commandments

1064. and you are still sinning

  1065. because your heart

  1066. is not after God.

  1067. Paul knew that.

  1068. He said,

  1069. I once thought

  1070. these things

  1071. were valuable.

  1072. Y'all,

  1073. would you read that

  1074. with me again?

1075. I put it in bold.

  1076. I once thought

  1077. these things

  1078. were valuable.

  1079. Think through

  1080. your life.

  1081. Your resume

  1082. is going to look

  1083. a little different

  1084. than Paul's.

  1085. The things that you

  1086. value and treasure

  1087. are going to look

  1088. a little different

  1089. than Paul's.

  1090. But would you think

  1091. with me right now

  1092. in your mind,

  1093. I once thought

  1094. these things

  1095. were valuable.

  1096. Maybe it was yesterday.

1097. Maybe it was this morning.

  1098. But God,

  1099. show me

  1100. where real value is.

  1101. Paul had that encounter

  1102. with Jesus

  1103. and it changed him.

  1104. He said,

  1105. now I consider

  1106. these things

  1107. worthless.

  1108. Does that mean

  1109. you got to go

  1110. sell all your possessions?

  1111. I don't know

1112. what God has for you.

  1113. Not necessarily.

1114. As long as you realize

  1115. how worthless they are.

1116. The TV in my bedroom

  1117. went out

1118. and I had to get

  1119. a new TV

  1120. and it was bigger.

  1121. Worst day ever.

  1122. Sorry, babe.

  1123. The TV went out.

  1124. Obviously,

1125. we're not going to get

1126. one of the same size.

  1127. Come on now.

  1128. And that thing's awesome.

  1129. In reality,

1130. I moved the living room

  1131. one into the bedroom.

  1132. So that's bigger

1133. and now I got a bigger one

  1134. in the living room.

  1135. It's great.

  1136. But look,

  1137. that TV is worthless.

  1138. Now,

  1139. my credit card

  1140. would not say

  1141. it's worthless

  1142. because there was

1143. a worth ascribed to it

1144. that I had to pay.

  1145. Got it on sale

  1146. anyway.

  1147. But in reality,

  1148. that TV is worthless.

  1149. All the TVs

  1150. could go out tomorrow

1151. and I would be okay.

1152. My family would be okay.

1153. We'd have to break out

  1154. some books,

  1155. you know,

  1156. some board games,

  1157. whatever.

  1158. We'll figure it out.

  1159. Break out the Bible.

  1160. But what is

  1161. of value to you

  1162. and what is worthless?

  1163. The things

  1164. that this world

  1165. teaches us

  1166. are of great value.

  1167. We've got to come

  1168. to the place

  1169. where we say

  1170. they're not.

  1171. They're worthless.

1172. You know what has value?

  1173. Following Jesus

  1174. with your life.

  1175. The fellowship

  1176. and community

  1177. you get

1178. in the body of Christ.

  1179. the hope

  1180. and joy

  1181. and peace

  1182. and all the comfort

  1183. that God gives you.

  1184. That has value.

  1185. That's what matters.

1186. That's what your children need.

  1187. That's what these graduates

1188. need to take with them

  1189. into their life.

  1190. That has value.

  1191. So Paul said,

  1192. I now consider

  1193. these things worthless.

  1194. Why?

  1195. Because of what Christ

  1196. has done.

1197. That's where real value is.

  1198. Everything else

  1199. is worthless

  1200. when compared

  1201. with the infinite value

  1202. of knowing

  1203. Christ Jesus

  1204. my Lord.

  1205. There is nothing else

  1206. on this earth

  1207. that has infinite value.

1208. You can get all the platinum

  1209. and diamonds

  1210. and pearls

  1211. and anything

  1212. on this earth

  1213. that the world

  1214. ascribes great value to

  1215. and it will never

  1216. have infinite value.

  1217. There will always

  1218. be an end

  1219. to its value.

  1220. Not so

  1221. with Jesus Christ.

  1222. So

  1223. that's why he said

  1224. for his sake

  1225. for Jesus' sake

  1226. I have discarded

  1227. everything else

  1228. counting it all

  1229. as garbage

  1230. so that I could

  1231. gain Christ

  1232. and become

  1233. one with him.

  1234. Do you understand?

  1235. He was still

  1236. a Hebrew.

  1237. He still had

  1238. his medals

  1239. on the wall.

  1240. When you walk away

  1241. from what's holding

  1242. you back

  1243. what you used

  1244. to consider

  1245. the most valuable

  1246. it doesn't necessarily

  1247. mean it's all

  1248. going to go away

  1249. immediately.

  1250. But your perspective

  1251. on it

  1252. shifts.

  1253. Now

  1254. if I lose

  1255. my truck

  1256. if I lose

  1257. the great house

  1258. if I lose

  1259. the big retirement

  1260. whatever it is

  1261. it's not going

  1262. to kill me anymore.

  1263. it's not

  1264. going to drive

  1265. me to depression.

  1266. Now

  1267. it's not

  1268. going to

  1269. affect

  1270. my spirit

  1271. because my

  1272. spirit

  1273. rests in

  1274. Christ.

  1275. I no longer

  1276. count on my

  1277. righteousness

  1278. through obeying

  1279. the law

  1280. now

  1281. rather

  1282. I become

  1283. righteous

  1284. through faith

  1285. in Christ.

  1286. That's why

  1287. it's so valuable.

  1288. It's saving

  1289. your soul.

  1290. It's giving

  1291. you a future.

  1292. It's giving

  1293. you a home

  1294. in heaven.

  1295. It's giving

  1296. you something

  1297. that can't

  1298. be taken

  1299. away from

  1300. you.

  1301. Do you

  1302. understand

  1303. that everything

  1304. in this

  1305. world that

  1306. you can

  1307. pursue

  1308. can be

  1309. taken away

  1310. from you?

  1311. He said

  1312. not family.

  1313. Oh yes.

  1314. How many

  1315. of you have

  1316. lost a

  1317. loved one?

  1318. They can

  1319. be taken.

  1320. Everything

  1321. in this

  1322. world

  1323. can be

  1324. taken from

  1325. you.

  1326. But your

  1327. faith in

  1328. Christ

  1329. the righteousness

  1330. that he

  1331. places on

  1332. you can

  1333. never be

  1334. taken away.

  1335. So I'm

  1336. trying to

  1337. get all

  1338. of us

  1339. myself

  1340. included

  1341. and everyone

  1342. in this

  1343. room to

  1344. realize where

  1345. the real

  1346. value is

  1347. in something

  1348. that cannot

  1349. be taken

  1350. away.

  1351. So

  1352. that's

  1353. God's

  1354. way of

  1355. making us

  1356. right with

  1357. himself.

  1358. It depends

  1359. on our

  1360. faith.

  1361. Would you

  1362. go with me

  1363. to 1 Timothy

  1364. and we'll

  1365. be done.

  1366. chapter 6

  1367. verse 17

  1368. through 19.

  1369. Paul hit

  1370. the top

  1371. of his

  1372. career.

  1373. He had

  1374. it all

  1375. but he

  1376. found it

  1377. was

  1378. worthless

  1379. once he

  1380. met

  1381. Jesus.

  1382. Have you

  1383. really met

  1384. Jesus?

  1385. Then you'll

  1386. see how

  1387. worthless

  1388. everything else

  1389. is.

  1390. Maybe you've

  1391. just heard

  1392. about him.

  1393. if you've

  1394. really met

  1395. Jesus

  1396. then why

  1397. do your

  1398. plans

  1399. have so

  1400. little to

  1401. do with

  1402. him?

  1403. Graduates

  1404. make sure

  1405. your plans

  1406. have much

  1407. to do

  1408. with Jesus

  1409. in your

  1410. life.

  1411. As you

  1412. go off to

  1413. A&M

  1414. and Tech

  1415. and all

  1416. those other

  1417. schools that

  1418. aren't UT

  1419. Austin

  1420. are

  1421. going to

  1422. do

  1423. with

  1424. him.

  1425. Anyway.

  1426. As you

  1427. go off to

  1428. your college

  1429. God leads

  1430. you into

  1431. a great

  1432. career

  1433. and Lord

  1434. willing gives

  1435. you a

  1436. family

  1437. and whatever

  1438. his plans

  1439. are for

  1440. you.

  1441. He says

  1442. I know

  1443. the plans

  1444. I have

  1445. for you.

  1446. He's going

  1447. to reveal

  1448. them to

  1449. you in

  1450. time.

  1451. Make

  1452. sure

  1453. your plans

  1454. match up

  1455. with him.

  1456. Make

  1457. sure your

  1458. plans

  1459. involve

  1460. !

  1461. Him

  1462. because

  1463. I promise

  1464. you

  1465. ask

  1466. your

  1467. parents

  1468. ask

  1469. your

  1470. grandparents

  1471. ask

  1472. your

  1473. church

  1474. family

  1475. it's

  1476. so

  1477. easy

  1478. for

  1479. your

  1480. plans

  1481. to

  1482. start

  1483. to

  1484. not

  1485. involve

  1486. Jesus

  1487. at

  1488. all.

  1489. It's not

  1490. that you

  1491. willingly

  1492. turned your

  1493. back on

  1494. him.

  1495. No.

  1496. Life

  1497. just kind

  1498. of

  1499. drifted

  1500. you

  1501. apart.

  1502. It'll

  1503. do

  1504. that

  1505. if

  1506. we

  1507. don't

  1508. intentionally

  1509. keep

  1510. our

  1511. eyes

  1512. fixed

  1513. on

  1514. Jesus.

  1515. So

  1516. 1 Timothy

    1 Timothy 6 chapter mention

  1517. chapter

  1518. 6

  1519. and

  1520. verse

  1521. 17

  1522. I was

  1523. talking

  1524. to

  1525. y'all

  1526. and

  1527. forgot

  1528. to

  1529. turn

  1530. there

  1531. myself

  1532. so

  1533. give

  1534. me

  1535. one

  1536. second.

  1537. 1 Timothy

    1 Timothy 6:17

  1538. 6

  1539. verse

  1540. 17

  1541. Teach

  1542. those

  1543. who

  1544. are

  1545. rich

  1546. in

  1547. this

  1548. world

  1549. not

  1550. to

  1551. be

  1552. proud

  1553. and

  1554. not

  1555. to

  1556. trust

  1557. in

  1558. their

  1559. money

  1560. which

  1561. is

  1562. so

  1563. unreliable.

  1564. Their

  1565. trust

  1566. should

  1567. be

  1568. in

  1569. God

  1570. who

  1571. richly

  1572. gives

  1573. us

  1574. all

  1575. we

  1576. need

  1577. for

  1578. our

  1579. enjoyment.

  1580. Tell

  1581. them

  1582. to

  1583. use

  1584. their

  1585. money

  1586. to

  1587. do

  1588. good.

  1589. And

  1590. if

  1591. God's

  1592. blessed

  1593. you

  1594. with

  1595. riches

  1596. and

  1597. finances

  1598. use

  1599. it

  1600. for

  1601. right?

  1602. There's

  1603. nothing

  1604. wrong

  1605. with

  1606. that

  1607. as

  1608. long

  1609. as

  1610. you

  1611. realize

  1612. how

  1613. meaningless

  1614. and

  1615. of

  1616. little

  1617. value

  1618. it

  1619. is.

  1620. And

  1621. as

  1622. long

  1623. as

  1624. it

  1625. doesn't

  1626. keep

  1627. you

  1628. from

  1629. doing

  1630. good

  1631. and

  1632. bringing

  1633. God

  1634. back

  1635. into

  1636. your

  1637. plans.

  1638. They

  1639. should

  1640. be

  1641. rich

  1642. in

  1643. good

  1644. works

  1645. generous

  1646. to

  1647. those

  1648. in

  1649. need

  1650. always

  1651. being

  1652. ready

  1653. to

  1654. share

  1655. with

  1656. others

  1657. by

  1658. doing

  1659. this

  1660. what

  1661. are

  1662. they

  1663. doing

  1664. by

  1665. doing

  1666. !

  1667. They're

  1668. storing

  1669. up

  1670. their

  1671. treasure

  1672. If

  1673. you're

  1674. not

  1675. looking

  1676. at

  1677. it

  1678. real

  1679. quick

  1680. here

  1681. we

  1682. go

  1683. If

  1684. you

  1685. do

  1686. this

  1687. center

  1688. your

  1689. riches

  1690. your

  1691. positions

  1692. everything

  1693. you have

  1694. on

  1695. Jesus

  1696. what

  1697. will

  1698. happen

  1699. by

  1700. doing

  1701. this

  1702. you

  1703. will

  1704. be

  1705. storing

  1706. up

  1707. your

  1708. treasure

  1709. as

  1710. a

  1711. good

  1712. foundation

  1713. for

  1714. the

  1715. future

  1716. you

  1717. know

  1718. what

  1719. you

  1720. need

  1721. at

  1722. this

  1723. stage

  1724. in

  1725. your

  1726. life

  1727. a

  1728. good

  1729. foundation

  1730. for

  1731. the

  1732. future

  1733. so

  1734. here's

  1735. how

  1736. to

  1737. have

  1738. it

  1739. so

  1740. that

  1741. then

  1742. you

  1743. can

  1744. experience

  1745. true

  1746. life

  1747. y'all

  1748. I

  1749. don't

  1750. want

  1751. you

  1752. to

  1753. have

  1754. a

  1755. life

  1756. that

  1757. this

  1758. world

  1759. will

  1760. carve

  1761. out

  1762. for

  1763. you

  1764. this

  1765. world

  1766. will

  1767. set

  1768. you

  1769. on

  1770. a

  1771. track

  1772. it

  1773. can't

  1774. help

  1775. itself

  1776. it

  1777. will

  1778. do

  1779. it

  1780. social

  1781. media

  1782. pressures

  1783. job

  1784. needs

  1785. bills

  1786. to

  1787. pay

  1788. everything

  1789. will

  1790. start

  1791. to set

  1792. you

  1793. on

  1794. a

  1795. course

  1796. and

  1797. start

  1798. to

  1799. define

  1800. the

  1801. life

  1802. that

  1803. you

  1804. live

  1805. I

  1806. don't

  1807. want

  1808. that

  1809. life

  1810. for

  1811. you

  1812. I

  1813. want

  1814. true

  1815. life

  1816. for

  1817. you

  1818. and

  1819. I

  1820. think

  1821. just

  1822. about

  1823. everyone

  1824. who has

  1825. experienced

  1826. both

  1827. in this

  1828. room

  1829. would

  1830. want

  1831. the

  1832. same

  1833. we

  1834. want

  1835. true

  1836. life

  1837. for

  1838. you

  1839. so

  1840. true

  1841. life

  1842. is only

  1843. found

  1844. where

  1845. Jesus

  1846. is

  1847. true

  1848. life

  1849. is only

  1850. found

  1851. where

  1852. Jesus

  1853. is

  1854. so

  1855. go

  1856. with

  1857. Jesus

  1858. follow

  1859. him

  1860. follow

  1861. him

  1862. where

  1863. he's

  1864. leading

  1865. you

  1866. ignore

  1867. the

  1868. distractions

  1869. sell

  1870. it

  1871. trade

  1872. it

  1873. in

  1874. whatever

  1875. it

  1876. is

  1877. and

  1878. stop

  1879. pursuing

  1880. the

  1881. less

  1882. valuable

  1883. treasures

  1884. that will

  1885. never

  1886. satisfy

  1887. your

  1888. soul

  1889. that

  1890. relationship

  1891. that's

  1892. holding

  1893. you

  1894. down

  1895. sell

  1896. it

  1897. that

  1898. habit

  1899. that

  1900. is

  1901. toxic

  1902. for

  1903. you

  1904. and

  1905. you

  1906. know

  1907. it

  1908. is

  1909. sell

  1910. it

  1911. get

  1912. rid

  1913. of

  1914. it

  1915. dump

  1916. it

  1917. that

  1918. house

  1919. that

  1920. job

  1921. the

  1922. truck

  1923. the

  1924. boat

  1925. the

  1926. retirement

  1927. athletic

  1928. achievements

  1929. all of

  1930. that can

  1931. have

  1932. its

  1933. place

  1934. but

  1935. none

  1936. of

  1937. it

  1938. is

  1939. the

  1940. treasure

  1941. that

  1942. vacation

  1943. your

  1944. family

  1945. your

  1946. status

  1947. your

  1948. reputation

  1949. man

  1950. status

  1951. and

  1952. reputation

  1953. sometimes

  1954. that is

  1955. the

  1956. thing

  1957. we

  1958. hold

  1959. on

  1960. to

  1961. the

  1962. dearest

  1963. you

  1964. know

  1965. what

  1966. Jesus

  1967. did

  1968. he

  1969. came

  1970. and

  1971. made

  1972. himself

  1973. of

  1974. great

  1975. reputation

  1976. here

  1977. on

  1978. earth

  1979. he

  1980. exalted

  1981. himself

  1982. in

  1983. society

  1984. he

  1985. was

  1986. the

  1987. best

  1988. of

  1989. the

  1990. best

  1991. he

  1992. was

  1993. the

  1994. elite

  1995. he

  1996. was

  1997. the

  1998. one

  1999. that

  2000. right

  2001. I

  2002. got

  2003. it

  2004. wrong

  2005. he

  2006. did

  2007. the

  2008. exact

  2009. opposite

  2010. he

  2011. humbled

  2012. !

  2013. God

  2014. highly

  2015. exalted

  2016. him

  2017. God

  2018. gave

  2019. him

  2020. all

  2021. the

  2022. status

  2023. but

  2024. we

  2025. get

  2026. so

  2027. concerned

  2028. about

  2029. our

  2030. reputation

  2031. on

  2032. this

  2033. earth

  2034. and

  2035. I'm

  2036. not

  2037. talking

  2038. about

  2039. going

  2040. out

  2041. and

  2042. having

  2043. a good

  2044. reputation

  2045. as

  2046. somebody

  2047. who's

  2048. honest

  2049. and

  2050. all

  2051. that

  2052. I'm

  2053. not

  2054. talking

  2055. about

  2056. letting

  2057. sin

  2058. ruin

  2059. your

  2060. reputation

  2061. that's

  2062. a

  2063. whole

  2064. different

  2065. thing

  2066. but

  2067. sometimes

  2068. we

  2069. will

  2070. fight

  2071. tooth

  2072. and

  2073. nail

  2074. for

  2075. our

  2076. reputation

  2077. and

  2078. we

  2079. will

  2080. never

  2081. do

  2082. !

  2083. what

  2084. God

  2085. from

  2086. the

  2087. treasure

  2088. that

  2089. is

  2090. Jesus

  2091. so

  2092. all

  2093. those

  2094. things

  2095. can be

  2096. taken

  2097. from

  2098. you

  2099. all

  2100. those

  2101. things

  2102. can

  2103. be

  2104. lost

  2105. so

  2106. go

  2107. all

  2108. in

  2109. how

  2110. many

  2111. are

  2112. all

  2113. in

  2114. for

  2115. the

  2116. bear

  2117. cats

  2118. anybody

  2119. I

  2120. figured

  2121. we'd

  2122. have

  2123. more

  2124. hands

  2125. than

  2126. that

  2127. how

  2128. many

  2129. are

  2130. all

  2131. in

  2132. for

  2133. the

  2134. bear

  2135. cat

  2136. there

  2137. we

  2138. go

  2139. all

  2140. right

  2141. there's

  2142. other

  2143. schools

  2144. represented

  2145. in

  2146. here

  2147. and

  2148. I

  2149. don't

  2150. !

  2151. mean

  2152. I

  2153. apologize

  2154. !

  2155. But

  2156. we

  2157. are

  2158. in

  2159. Henrietta

  2160. go

  2161. all

  2162. in

  2163. on

  2164. the

  2165. one

  2166. thing

  2167. that

  2168. can

  2169. never

  2170. be

  2171. taken

  2172. from

  2173. you

  2174. so

  2175. here's

  2176. our

  2177. takeaway

  2178. today

  2179. what

  2180. are

  2181. you

  2182. holding

  2183. on

  2184. to

  2185. what's

  2186. keeping

  2187. you

  2188. from

  2189. the

  2190. treasure

  2191. that

  2192. is

  2193. Jesus

  2194. what's

  2195. keeping

  2196. you

  2197. from

  2198. the

  2199. treasure

  2200. that

  2201. is

  2202. Jesus

  2203. I'm

  2204. asking

  2205. that

  2206. to

  2207. our

  2208. graduates

  2209. I'm

  2210. asking

  2211. that

  2212. to

  2213. every

  2214. adult

  2215. every

  2216. child

  2217. in

  2218. this

  2219. room

  2220. what

  2221. is

  2222. keeping

  2223. you

  2224. what's

  2225. holding

  2226. you

  2227. back

  2228. you

  2229. probably

  2230. know

  2231. what

  2232. it

  2233. is

  2234. you

  2235. may

  2236. not

  2237. you

  2238. may

  2239. need

  2240. to

  2241. go

  2242. to

  2243. the

  2244. Lord

  2245. in

  2246. prayer

  2247. and

  2248. tell

  2249. me

  2250. what's

  2251. holding

  2252. me

  2253. back

  2254. from

  2255. experiencing

  2256. that

  2257. full

  2258. rich

  2259. treasure

  2260. !

  2261. Jesus

  2262. would

  2263. you

  2264. bow

  2265. your

  2266. heads

  2267. with

  2268. me

  2269. what's

  2270. keeping

  2271. !

  2272. you

  2273. from

  2274. the

  2275. treasure

  2276. that

  2277. is

  2278. Jesus

  2279. Jared's

  2280. gonna

  2281. come

  2282. and

  2283. play

  2284. a

  2285. song

  2286. for

  2287. us

  2288. we're

  2289. a

  2290. little

  2291. bit

  2292. later

  2293. today

  2294. and

  2295. I'm

  2296. grateful

  2297. for

  2298. your

  2299. patience

  2300. we

  2301. didn't

  2302. want to

  2303. short

  2304. change

  2305. our

  2306. graduates

  2307. at

  2308. all

  2309. and

  2310. we

  2311. definitely

  2312. didn't

  2313. want to

  2314. short

  2315. change

  2316. the

  2317. preaching

  2318. of

  2319. the

  2320. word

  2321. of

  2322. God

  2323. as

  2324. well

  2325. but

  2326. listen

  2327. whether

  2328. you've

  2329. stumbled

  2330. into

  2331. the

  2332. kingdom

  2333. like

  2334. the

  2335. first

  2336. guy

  2337. you

  2338. weren't

  2339. setting

  2340. out

  2341. to

  2342. find

  2343. riches

  2344. but

  2345. God

  2346. when

  2347. you

  2348. weren't

  2349. seeking

  2350. him

  2351. God

  2352. was

  2353. seeking

  2354. you

  2355. and

  2356. he

  2357. found

  2358. you

  2359. and

  2360. you

  2361. found

  2362. him

  2363. and

  2364. you

  2365. realized

  2366. he's

  2367. the

  2368. most

  2369. valuable

  2370. thing

  2371. or

  2372. maybe

  2373. you've

  2374. been

  2375. seeking

  2376. it

  2377. out

  2378. for

  2379. many

  2380. years

  2381. maybe

  2382. you've

  2383. been

  2384. a

  2385. seeker

  2386. maybe

  2387. you've

  2388. been

  2389. trying

  2390. to

  2391. find

  2392. answers

  2393. you've

  2394. been

  2395. looking

  2396. I

  2397. can

  2398. promise

  2399. you

  2400. that

  2401. the

  2402. pearl

  2403. of

  2404. great

  2405. price

  2406. the

  2407. better

  2408. treasure

  2409. than

  2410. anything

  2411. else

  2412. you could

  2413. ever

  2414. find

  2415. is

  2416. Jesus

  2417. Christ

  2418. and

  2419. that

  2420. same

  2421. treasure

  2422. is

  2423. available

  2424. to

  2425. you

  2426. both

  2427. the

  2428. seeker

  2429. or

  2430. the

  2431. stumbler

  2432. either

  2433. one

  2434. that

  2435. same

  2436. treasure

  2437. is

  2438. available

  2439. to

  2440. you

  2441. both

  2442. it's

  2443. free

  2444. of

  2445. charge

  2446. God

  2447. will

  2448. never

  2449. charge

  2450. a

  2451. dime

  2452. for

  2453. the

  2454. treasure

  2455. he

  2456. gives

  2457. you

  2458. but

  2459. if

  2460. you

  2461. want

  2462. to

  2463. experience

  2464. it

  2465. it's

  2466. going

  2467. to

  2468. cost

  2469. you

  2470. it's

  2471. free

  2472. but

  2473. it'll

  2474. cost

  2475. you

  2476. otherwise

  2477. you'll

  2478. never

  2479. taste

  2480. it

  2481. you'll

  2482. never

  2483. experience

  2484. it

  2485. if

  2486. you're

  2487. holding

  2488. on

  2489. to

  2490. the

  2491. cares

  2492. of

  2493. this

  2494. life

  2495. so

  2496. let

  2497. me

  2498. ask

  2499. you

  2500. this

  2501. question

  2502. how

  2503. many

  2504. of

  2505. you

  2506. would

  2507. say

  2508. today

  2509. is

  2510. the

  2511. day

  2512. that

  2513. I

  2514. need

  2515. to

  2516. meet

  2517. Jesus

  2518. I

  2519. need

  2520. to

  2521. experience

  2522. him

  2523. and put

  2524. my

  2525. faith

  2526. in

  2527. him

  2528. for

  2529. salvation

  2530. for

  2531. the

  2532. first

  2533. time

  2534. today

  2535. so

  2536. I

  2537. believe

  2538. Jesus

  2539. died

  2540. on

  2541. the

  2542. cross

  2543. I

  2544. want

  2545. him

  2546. to

  2547. forgive

  2548. me

  2549. of

  2550. my

  2551. sins

  2552. I

  2553. believe

  2554. he

  2555. rose

  2556. from

  2557. the

  2558. dead

  2559. I

  2560. believe

  2561. he

  2562. is

  2563. God

  2564. and

  2565. I'm

  2566. placing

  2567. my

  2568. faith

  2569. in

  2570. Jesus

  2571. if

  2572. that's

  2573. you

  2574. right

  2575. now

  2576. and

  2577. God

  2578. has

  2579. been

  2580. working

  2581. on

  2582. your

  2583. heart

  2584. during

  2585. this

  2586. service

  2587. would

  2588. you

  2589. just

  2590. slip

  2591. your

  2592. hand

  2593. up

  2594. and

  2595. wave

  2596. at

  2597. me

  2598. real

  2599. quick

  2600. and

  2601. I'll

  2602. see

  2603. you

  2604. thank

  2605. you

  2606. thank

  2607. you

  2608. thank

  2609. you

  2610. thank

  2611. you

  2612. thank

  2613. you

  2614. God

  2615. for

  2616. those

  2617. who

  2618. raised

  2619. their

  2620. hand

  2621. right

  2622. now

  2623. I'm

  2624. going

  2625. to

  2626. do

  2627. this

  2628. with

  2629. our

  2630. heads

  2631. bowed

  2632. we

  2633. have

  2634. a lot

  2635. going

  2636. on

  2637. after

  2638. the

  2639. service

  2640. the

  2641. graduates

  2642. are

  2643. set

  2644. up

  2645. in

  2646. the

  2647. fellowship

  2648. hall

  2649. we're

  2650. going

  2651. to

  2652. go

  2653. around

  2654. we're

  2655. going

  2656. to

  2657. see

  2658. their

  2659. tables

  2660. congratulate

  2661. them

  2662. pray

  2663. for

  2664. them

  2665. talk

  2666. to

  2667. them

  2668. but

  2669. before

  2670. we

  2671. dismiss

  2672. from

  2673. this

  2674. room

  2675. I'm

  2676. going

  2677. to

  2678. give

  2679. you

  2680. this

  2681. opportunity

  2682. if

  2683. you

  2684. raised

  2685. your

  2686. hand

  2687. a

  2688. moment

  2689. ago

  2690. every

  2691. head

  2692. bowed

  2693. would

  2694. you

  2695. just

  2696. look

  2697. at

  2698. me

  2699. just

  2700. you

  2701. few

  2702. who

  2703. raised

  2704. your

  2705. hand

  2706. would

  2707. you

  2708. look

  2709. up

  2710. here

  2711. if

  2712. you

  2713. place

  2714. your

  2715. faith

  2716. in

  2717. Jesus

  2718. today

  2719. then

  2720. that

  2721. makes

  2722. you

  2723. his

  2724. child

  2725. that

  2726. makes

  2727. you

  2728. his

  2729. follower

  2730. so

  2731. if

  2732. you

  2733. understand

  2734. that

  2735. you

  2736. are

  2737. a

  2738. sinner

  2739. and

  2740. you

  2741. fully

  2742. admit

  2743. that

  2744. and

  2745. you

  2746. know

  2747. that

  2748. Jesus

  2749. died

  2750. for

  2751. your

  2752. sins

  2753. on

  2754. the

  2755. cross

  2756. and

  2757. then

  2758. God

  2759. raised

  2760. him

  2761. from

  2762. the

  2763. dead

  2764. and

  2765. he

  2766. is

  2767. willing

  2768. to

  2769. forgive

  2770. you

  2771. wipe

  2772. your

  2773. slate

  2774. clean

  2775. make

  2776. you

  2777. his

  2778. child

  2779. and

  2780. walk

  2781. with

  2782. !

  2783. the

  2784. prayer

  2785. and

  2786. in

  2787. your

  2788. heart

  2789. would

  2790. you

  2791. pray

  2792. it

  2793. with

  2794. me

  2795. nothing

  2796. magical

  2797. about

  2798. these

  2799. words

  2800. it's

  2801. your

  2802. faith

  2803. in

  2804. Jesus

  2805. that

  2806. will

  2807. save

  2808. you

  2809. let's

  2810. bow

  2811. together

  2812. those

  2813. of you

  2814. who

  2815. raised

  2816. your

  2817. hand

  2818. if

  2819. you

  2820. have

  2821. the

  2822. desire

  2823. to

  2824. place

  2825. your

  2826. faith

  2827. in

  2828. Jesus

  2829. now

  2830. would

  2831. you

  2832. say

  2833. this

  2834. God

  2835. I

  2836. know

  2837. I'm

  2838. a

  2839. sinner

  2840. I

  2841. know

  2842. your

  2843. son

  2855. him

  2856. from

  2862. all

  2863. my

  2864. faith

  2865. in

  2866. Jesus

  2867. to

  2868. forgive

  2869. my

  2872. make

  2873. me

  2874. your

  2876. thank

  2877. you

  2878. for

  2902. in

  2903. just

  2904. a

  2908. to

  2909. ask

  2911. to

  2912. come

  2913. down

  2914. front

  2915. I

  2916. want

  2917. to

  2918. talk

  2922. meet

  2923. !

  2925. you

  2926. real

  2927. quick

  2928. 30

  2932. want

  2933. to

  2934. celebrate

  2935. with

  2936. you

  2937. but

  2945. in

  2946. this

  2949. God's

  2950. working

  2951. on

  2952. something

  2954. from

  2955. the

  2956. preaching

  2957. of

  2958. his

  2965. tugged

  2966. at

  2967. your

  2975. valuing

  2976. other

  2977. things

  2978. more

  2979. than

  2980. I

  2981. value

  2982. Jesus

  2983. and

  2984. I

  2985. got

  2986. to

  2987. turn

  2988. that

  2989. around

  2990. I

  2991. want

  2992. to

  2993. taste

  2994. that

  2996. treasure

  2997. that

  2998. Jesus

  2999. is

  3001. stand

  3002. together

  3004. sing

  3005. this

  3006. song

  3007. that

  3008. Jared's

  3009. going

  3010. to

  3011. lead

  3012. us

  3013. in

  3014. just

  3015. one

  3016. verse

  3017. and

  3018. we'll

  3019. dismiss

  3020. and

  3021. go out

  3022. and be

  3023. with
