  1. Well, please have a seat and let's pray together.

  2. Father God, thank you for this day.

  3. Thank you that we can be together.

  4. Thank you that you accept our praise and our worship in and through your son, Jesus.

  5. And so, Lord, we ask that you would send your spirit now to teach us by your words.

  6. Father, glorify yourself in this time and warm our hearts.

  7. Kindle them with affection for you.

  8. We pray this in Jesus' name and for his sake.

  9. Amen.

  10. Can I extend my welcome to you to add to phrases.

  11. You joined us in week three of our journey with Jesus around Galilee.

  12. These chapters at the beginning of Luke's gospel.

  13. So far, week one, we saw John the Baptist as the great preparer.

  14. Kind of Jesus' entourage, getting everything ready for him to appear.

  15. And then last week, we saw Jesus' messianic credentials.

  16. Jesus being fully God and fully man and one who obeyed God and resisted temptation.

  17. Today, we see Jesus launching his messianic manifesto.

  18. Jesus launching his messianic manifesto.

  19. Now, a manifesto, if you don't know, is the beliefs and aims and policies and promises

  20. of an organization or an individual taking up office.

  21. It is about what they will do, what will happen when they do,

  22. and what they'll do for you if you vote for them to do what they're going to do.

  23. So I thought we'd have a little game this morning.

  24. If you've got your sermon outline, that'll be helpful.

  25. That's where you're going to write your answers.

  26. The game is imaginatively called, Whose Manifesto Is It Anyway?

  27. And you're going to write down your answers, and we'll see who got what.

  28. Right, I'm going to read five manifesto promises,

  29. and I want you to try and tell me whose manifesto it is.

  30. Here's number one.

  31. Eyes down, look in.

  32. Five manifesto promises.

  33. Heavily tax goods imported from China and Mexico.

  34. Repeal every aspect of Obamacare.

  35. Bomb and take oil from ISIS.

  36. Ban all Muslims from entering the country.

  37. Build a wall to the south and make Mexico pay for it.

  38. Whose manifesto is it anyway?

  39. The Trump, the Donalds.

  40. Question two.

  41. Eyes down, look in.

  42. Whose manifesto is it anyway?

  43. The repeal of the terms of the Treaty of Versailles.

  44. Only a member of the true German race can be a citizen.

  45. Excess land for the colonization and sustenance of our people to be given and taken.

  46. The abolition of all mercenary forces and the formation of a national army.

  47. The formation of a strong central power in the Reich.

  48. Whose manifesto is it anyway?

  49. It's not Hillary's.

  50. It is, of course, the National Socialist Party in 1933.

  51. Question three and then we're done.

  52. See if anyone can get 100%.

  53. We will report the Welsh Dragon to the Monopolies Commission.

  54. We will make Swansea Airport the hub for the Welsh space program.

  55. We will set up huge factories in the valleys of South Wales producing noodles and fortune cookies.

  56. And then flood the Chinese markets with them to take revenge for what they did to us steal.

  57. We will give the letter K a sound of its own.

  58. Anyone over five years old who can hold a crayon will be eligible to vote.

  59. Whose manifesto is it anyway?

  60. The Monster Raving Loony Party.

  61. Their 2014 manifesto for the Welsh Assembly.

  62. In our passage in Luke this morning we see Jesus launch his Messianic manifesto.

  63. And we'll see it is radically different from all those that are listed.

  64. Thank goodness.

  65. So please turn with me to Luke chapter 4 and verse 14.

    Luke 4 chapter mention

  66. Luke writes this.

  67. Jesus returned to Galilee and the power of the Spirit and news about him spread throughout the whole countryside.

  68. He was teaching in their synagogues and everyone praised him.

  69. He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up.

  70. And on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom.

  71. He stood up to read and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him.

  72. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written.

  73. The Spirit of the Lord is on me.

  74. Because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor,

  75. he has sent me to proclaim freedom from the prisoners

  76. and recovery of sight for the blind to set the oppressed free,

  77. to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord's favour.

  78. Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down.

  79. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him.

  80. He began by saying to them,

  81. Today, this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.

  82. All spoke well of him and they wondered at his gracious words that came from his lips.

  83. Isn't this Joseph's son?

  84. They asked.

  85. Jesus said to them,

  86. Surely you will quote this proverb to me,

  87. Physician, heal yourself.

  88. And you will tell me,

  89. Do here in your hometown what we have heard you did in Capernaum.

  90. Truly I tell you, he continued,

  91. No prophet is accepted in his hometown.

  92. I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah's time

  93. when the sky was shut for three and a half years

  94. and there was a severe famine throughout the land.

  95. Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them,

  96. but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.

  97. And there were many in Israel with leprosy in the time of Elisha the prophet.

  98. Yet not one of them was cleansed,

  99. only Naaman the Syrian.

  100. All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard him.

  101. They got up, drove him out of the town,

  102. and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built

  103. in order to throw him off the cliff.

  104. But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.

  105. Between the tempting at the beginning of chapter 4

  106. and this episode here in Nazareth,

  107. there is perhaps a whole year that has gone by.

  108. In this time, we learn from John that Jesus did his first miracle,

  109. the water into wine at the wedding in Cana.

  110. He's called some of his disciples,

  111. and he's been based roughly around the town of Capernaum.

  112. If the temptation in the wilderness was Jesus declaring everything

  113. that he hasn't come to do,

  114. he hasn't come to perform tricks,

  115. he hasn't come to gain authority without the cross,

  116. he hasn't come to defy God.

  117. If the temptation was everything Jesus hasn't come to do,

  118. then what we're looking at today is everything that he has come to do.

  119. His teaching was well received in Capernaum.

  120. 4.15, everybody spoke well of him,

  121. and the news was rippling out all around Galilee.

  122. Now, 4.16, Jesus rolls into his hometown,

  123. the local celebrity coming back to his neighborhood,

  124. and he goes to the synagogue on the Sabbath.

  125. This is Jesus' first public recorded sermon,

  126. and he is going to use the occasion to launch his manifesto.

  127. Now, synagogue worship followed a standard form.

  128. There would be two sets of prayers at the start,

  129. a reading from the Torah next,

  130. then a reading from the prophets,

  131. and following those four elements,

  132. somebody would stand up and give a sermon.

  133. They would explain what has been read.

  134. Now, we're not quite sure why Jesus is chosen

  135. to read from the prophets and give the sermon.

  136. We don't know if the Nazareth rabbi is at his holiday home down near Judea.

  137. We don't know if it's just because the famous preacher has come to town

  138. and they thought, well, he's better than the guy we usually have.

  139. Let's give him a shot.

  140. But what definitely happens is that Jesus opens the enormous scroll of Isaiah,

  141. and there isn't chapters and verses,

  142. but he finds his way to Isaiah chapter 61, verse 1.

    Isaiah 61:1

  143. And he reads,

  144. The Spirit of the Lord is on me,

  145. because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.

  146. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners

  147. and recovery of sight for the blind,

  148. to set the oppressed free,

  149. to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord's favor.

  150. These words are written 700 years before Jesus stands up.

  151. Isaiah pens them in some of the darkest days of Israel's history.

  152. And those words kind of are left hanging.

  153. Left hanging for seven centuries.

  154. And after Jesus hands back the scroll to the attendant

  155. to go back in the cabinet where all the scriptures are housed,

  156. he assumes the preaching position of the day,

  157. which was to sit down.

  158. Now I've torn my calf muscle,

  159. so I kind of wish that we were in the first century in Near East.

  160. You'd also all be standing.

  161. Having done that,

  162. Jesus preaches perhaps the shortest sermon ever.

  163. Eight words.

  164. Today,

  165. this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.

  166. The anointed one that Isaiah foreshadowed

  167. now assumes the role that he's been given from eternity past

  168. and said,

  169. these words,

  170. they're my words,

  171. and I'm telling them to you today for real.

  172. Jesus says,

  173. I am this anointed one.

  174. I am this spirit-empowered,

  175. anointed preacher,

  176. and I come bringing the ultimate good news,

  177. release,

  178. healing,

  179. and freedom.

  180. The one who's ushering in the acceptable year of the Lord's favor.

  181. Now when we read a manifesto,

  182. the first thing we automatically do

  183. is to work out what's in it for me.

  184. So we read of tax break for families,

  185. and immediately families think,

  186. oh,

  187. vote for them.

  188. We read of help for retired people.

  189. And anybody that's more seasoned goes,

  190. they seem like a good choice for me.

  191. Tuition fees spark interest from the students,

  192. but most particularly their parents.

  193. So I wonder what these people,

  194. when they heard this,

  195. thought about Jesus' manifesto.

  196. I'm sure if you were there as a blind person,

  197. you'd have gone,

  198. oh.

  199. If you were a prisoner,

  200. you probably wouldn't have been at the synagogue on the Sabbath,

  201. because you would have been in prison.

  202. People have interpreted this passage in merely economic terms,

  203. that Jesus brings actual good news for actually poor people.

  204. People have done it in purely political terms,

  205. that oppressed people suffering under the heel of occupying Rome,

  206. would have the hope of being freed.

  207. In actual physical terms,

  208. the blind people would receive sight,

  209. which would be unfortunate,

  210. because the Paralympics would be over.

  211. However,

  212. this is clearly referenced to humanity's spiritual condition.

  213. We are spiritually poor,

  214. because of our sinful rebellion against God.

  215. We are spiritually captive,

  216. enslaved by sin and Satan and death and fear.

  217. We are spiritually blind.

  218. We cannot see God as he is,

  219. or respond to him as we should.

  220. We are oppressed by being fallen people in a fallen world.

  221. This is what Jesus is saying.

  222. And his message is appealing to all of us,

  223. because all of us find ourselves in this position.

  224. Notice as well that all these conditions are hopeless.

  225. If you're blind,

  226. you can't make yourself see,

  227. doesn't matter how many carrots you eat.

  228. If you're in prison,

  229. you can't go for a nice walk out in the garden,

  230. because you're in prison.

  231. All these conditions are hopeless.

  232. All of these require somebody else stepping into our situation

  233. to bring healing hope,

  234. freedom,

  235. and acceptance.

  236. And into this spiritual hopelessness,

  237. into our spiritual hopelessness,

  238. Jesus says,

  239. I'm here.

  240. I am here.

  241. And I'm here to help,

  242. and to get you out of your hopelessness.

  243. See though,

  244. if you know Isaiah 61 well,

  245. that the quotation is cut short.

  246. Jesus doesn't keep on reading to the end of the verse,

  247. because it finishes,

  248. to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor,

  249. and the day of vengeance of our God.

  250. That Isaiah said,

  251. with the coming of Messiah,

  252. there will be two things.

  253. There will be favor proclaimed,

  254. but also vengeance brought.

  255. And this is where Jesus is so appealing,

  256. because he comes the first time

  257. to make us acceptable to God,

  258. but he will come again

  259. to rain down God's wrath

  260. on account of our sin.

  261. He gives us a chance,

  262. a space for grace,

  263. to respond to this good news,

  264. to say yes to this manifesto,

  265. because a day will come when it's too late.

  266. I was on a plane yesterday

  267. to a wedding in Northern Ireland,

  268. and the plane back was delayed.

  269. And we got on the plane,

  270. and we were on the runway for a long time,

  271. and the captain comes on and says,

  272. sorry for the delay,

  273. we had a technical failure,

  274. we think we fixed it.

  275. I'll tell you,

  276. everybody's listening to the safety briefing,

  277. everybody.

  278. Everybody.

  279. Jesus here is saying,

  280. we all have a technical failure,

  281. our sin.

  282. Will you listen to me

  283. as the only hope

  284. and the only help

  285. to get you through it?

  286. The passage is explicit today.

  287. Today this is fulfilled in your hearing.

  288. Now is the time to respond.

  289. Will you respond?

  290. Because the time will come

  291. when the vengeance will be here

  292. and the grace will be over.

  293. Failure to respond

  294. will mean that time will decide for you.

  295. Yesterday my plane was supposed to leave at 8.

  296. If I wasn't sure

  297. whether I was going to get back on that plane

  298. because Northern Ireland was so brilliant,

  299. if I was weighing up that decision

  300. once the plane's left,

  301. the decision's made for me.

  302. Failure to decide

  303. means that time will decide for you,

  304. and Jesus says,

  305. today is the opportunity to respond.

  306. Now is the opportunity to respond.

  307. So from manifesto launched,

  308. we move to candidate questioned.

  309. Initially,

  310. Jesus seems to be favorably received.

  311. All spoke well of him.

  312. They wondered at his gracious words.

  313. Then they start to look

  314. at his background.

  315. They start to want evidence

  316. to back up his claim.

  317. And see what they say.

  318. Isn't this Joseph's son,

  319. verse 22?

  320. Didn't he used to kick around

  321. in the playground with our children?

  322. Isn't he just so normal?

  323. Wasn't he the guy

  324. who fitted those shelves in our house

  325. or fixed the coffee table?

  326. Is he not having ideas

  327. above his station?

  328. You're saying today

  329. this has been fulfilled,

  330. but you look remarkably normal to us.

  331. So Jesus responds with a proverb,

  332. Physician, heal yourself,

  333. verse 23.

  334. It's not particularly familiar to us,

  335. but it basically says,

  336. prove it.

  337. Show us.

  338. You claim to be this person,

  339. show us.

  340. Do something.

  341. Show us your messianic credentials

  342. to back up your messianic manifesto.

  343. Do what you did in Capernaum.

  344. Perhaps a little healing.

  345. Perhaps an exorcism.

  346. We could go and find someone

  347. who was toment it.

  348. Do you know what?

  349. Perhaps some water into wine.

  350. We're all a little bit thirsty.

  351. That would be great.

  352. Go on,

  353. turn this water into wine

  354. and we can toast your Messiahship.

  355. Come on, Jesus.

  356. Do it,

  357. do it,

  358. do it.

  359. However,

  360. Jesus wouldn't perform

  361. for the devil when he said,

  362. and he won't perform

  363. for the baying crowd in Nazareth.

  364. People say,

  365. I want evidence.

  366. But their evidence,

  367. ask,

  368. is only to cover,

  369. it's a smokescreen

  370. for their hard-heartedness.

  371. They have absolutely everything

  372. they need to respond

  373. to Jesus' manifesto.

  374. They've heard the rumors

  375. of Capernaum.

  376. He stood up

  377. and amazed them

  378. with his words.

  379. He's spoken with authority.

  380. They have everything

  381. they need to come

  382. to the right decision.

  383. And so many of us

  384. will put off

  385. making a decision

  386. on account of evidence

  387. when really

  388. we don't want to

  389. bow the knee to Jesus

  390. and get on board

  391. with his manifesto.

  392. I wonder if that's you

  393. this morning

  394. putting off making a decision

  395. when you have

  396. all the evidence you need.

  397. Then Jesus defines

  398. his constituency.

  399. Jesus goes on the offensive.

  400. Verse 24.

  401. No prophet is accepted

  402. in his hometown.

  403. The history of Israel

  404. is one where prophets

  405. don't do very well.

  406. It's not a popular career choice.

  407. Jeremiah is a prophet

  408. and nobody listened to him.

  409. Jesus is saying,

  410. you're just like them.

  411. I'm here declaring

  412. God's word as God's king,

  413. but you have no time for me.

  414. You're just like

  415. your ancestors.

  416. They didn't believe

  417. God's word then

  418. and they won't listen

  419. to God's word made flesh now.

  420. Their unreceptive attitude

  421. to Jesus

  422. is not due to lack of evidence,

  423. it's due to their

  424. hard-heartedness.

  425. They will not

  426. humble themselves.

  427. They don't think

  428. that they're poor

  429. and blind

  430. and captive.

  431. And therefore

  432. they don't realize

  433. their absolute need

  434. of Jesus Christ.

  435. Jesus goes on

  436. to explain

  437. that their rejection

  438. of him

  439. will lead

  440. and overflow

  441. to grace for others.

  442. And so he talks

  443. about the two great

  444. prophets of old,

  445. Elijah and Elisha,

  446. the poster boys

  447. of the Israelite

  448. prophet

  449. history.

  450. And he talks

  451. about Elijah

  452. during the time

  453. of Ahab

  454. when there's three

  455. and a half years

  456. without rain

  457. and everybody's struggling.

  458. Widows struggling

  459. the most.

  460. And yet it's not

  461. to the Israelite widows

  462. that Elijah has sent

  463. but to the widow

  464. of Zarephath

  465. who receives blessing.

  466. Similarly,

  467. Elisha,

  468. in his time

  469. there's leprosy

  470. everywhere.

  471. And yet it's not

  472. an Israelite leper

  473. who's cleansed,

  474. it's a Syrian

  475. general.

  476. Jesus says to them,

  477. don't think

  478. that my kingdom

  479. is just confined

  480. to the borders

  481. of Israel.

  482. My kingdom

  483. is for the whole world.

  484. Good news

  485. will go to the poor

  486. on this continent

  487. and every continent.

  488. Captives

  489. will be released

  490. here but also

  491. everywhere in my name.

  492. The year of

  493. acceptability

  494. to the Lord

  495. is an offer

  496. to you

  497. but it's an offer

  498. to them

  499. as well.

  500. This good news

  501. will go global.

  502. People will be restored

  503. because of me

  504. and responding

  505. to me.

  506. If you shut

  507. the door

  508. in my face

  509. it will result

  510. in your eternal loss

  511. but there'll be

  512. many others

  513. in many other places

  514. that will open

  515. the door to me.

  516. This offer

  517. is open to anyone.

  518. This good news

  519. is not a pep talk

  520. for a nation state

  521. but it is good news

  522. to the entire world.

  523. Jesus is the Messiah

  524. he's been installed

  525. by God

  526. he will rule

  527. and reign forever

  528. and the biggest decision

  529. we will ever make

  530. in any of our lives

  531. is to respond to him

  532. and join his team

  533. or suffer the vengeance

  534. of the Lord

  535. in the end.

  536. Now

  537. is the time

  538. to vote

  539. says Jesus.

  540. He says it to them

  541. in Nazareth

  542. and he says it to us

  543. this morning

  544. it's decision time.

  545. It is time

  546. to decide

  547. whether you're

  548. poor

  549. who needs good news

  550. whether you're

  551. a prisoner

  552. who needs it free

  553. whether you're

  554. blind requiring sight

  555. oppressed

  556. needing freedom

  557. and alienated

  558. from God

  559. and need to be restored.

  560. And Jesus says

  561. if that's you

  562. respond to me.

  563. And so the final thing

  564. we see is votes

  565. are submitted.

  566. Well it's not gone great

  567. you have to say

  568. verse 28

  569. because a manifesto

  570. launch turns into

  571. an assassination

  572. attempt.

  573. They

  574. the crowd

  575. the congregation

  576. turn into a mob

  577. and the mob

  578. frog marks

  579. Jesus to the

  580. brow of a hill

  581. the hometown

  582. crowd turn

  583. hostile

  584. the ones who

  585. were amazed

  586. at his words

  587. in verse 22

  588. are furious

  589. and ready to

  590. throw him off

  591. the cliff

  592. in verse 29.

  593. It's amazing.

  594. Just like that.

  595. When Jesus

  596. starts to uncover

  597. what they're really

  598. like and their

  599. need of him

  600. people turn

  601. in utter fury.

  602. We see it today.

  603. Have you ever

  604. seen anything

  605. provoke such

  606. hostility

  607. than the Lord

  608. Jesus?

  609. People just

  610. go crazy

  611. irrationably

  612. crazy

  613. because if

  614. Jesus is

  615. who he

  616. says he

  617. is

  618. then we

  619. cannot

  620. escape

  621. our

  622. absolute

  623. need

  624. of him.

  625. But Jesus

  626. is in total

  627. control.

  628. See how it

  629. ends.

  630. But he

  631. walked right

  632. through the

  633. crowd

  634. and went

  635. on his

  636. way.

  637. Just as

  638. Moses parted

  639. the sea

  640. so Jesus

  641. parts the

  642. crowd

  643. and he

  644. walks

  645. through

  646. unscathed.

  647. And I

  648. think the

  649. scariest bit

  650. is the last

  651. four words

  652. he went

  653. on his

  654. way.

  655. The

  656. sadness is

  657. Jesus will

  658. do two

  659. more years

  660. of public

  661. ministry in

  662. this region

  663. and as far

  664. as we know

  665. he never

  666. returned to

  667. Nazareth.

  668. Their

  669. rejection of

  670. him led

  671. to his

  672. rejection of

  673. them and

  674. he never

  675. went back.

  676. You know

  677. we all may

  678. think that we

  679. can put off

  680. making a

  681. decision for

  682. as long as

  683. we like.

  684. The truth

  685. is today

  686. you've got an

  687. opportunity to

  688. respond.

  689. Tomorrow

  690. nobody knows.

  691. The Puritans

  692. like to say

  693. that the

  694. sun that

  695. melts the

  696. wax also

  697. hardens the

  698. clay.

  699. That as we

  700. hear the

  701. good news

  702. of Jesus

  703. it will

  704. either melt

  705. our hearts

  706. humble us

  707. under grace

  708. and get us

  709. to proclaim

  710. him our

  711. king or

  712. it will

  713. harden our

  714. hearts and

  715. will become

  716. ever more

  717. impenetrable to

  718. his grace.

  719. Jesus launches

  720. his manifesto

  721. which is good

  722. news to

  723. hopeless humanity.

  724. It's good

  725. news to me

  726. it's good

  727. news to you.

  728. Jesus is

  729. questioned but

  730. reveals the

  731. hard-hearted

  732. pride of the

  733. Nazareth people.

  734. Jesus defines

  735. his constituency

  736. and says this is

  737. good news for

  738. anyone and

  739. everyone.

  740. Jesus is

  741. rejected in

  742. Nazareth as

  743. people vote

  744. with their

  745. feet and

  746. try to throw

  747. him off a

  748. cliff.

  749. What about

  750. you?

  751. Will you

  752. respond today?

  753. Will you

  754. subscribe to

  755. Jesus'

  756. manifesto,

  757. receive his

  758. good news,

  759. acknowledge him

  760. as God's

  761. promised king,

  762. come to lead

  763. you out of

  764. hopelessness and

  765. to give you

  766. eternal life?

  767. Will you

  768. respond to

  769. this Jesus?

  770. But what if

  771. you know

  772. Jesus as

  773. your king?

  774. Well don't

  775. be obstinate,

  776. don't just

  777. sit around,

  778. get on the

  779. canvassing trail

  780. because this

  781. good news is

  782. for anyone

  783. and everyone

  784. and Jesus

  785. invites you

  786. to be on

  787. his campaign

  788. team to

  789. make him

  790. known on

  791. campus,

  792. at work,

  793. amongst

  794. your friends

  795. and your

  796. family?

  797. Will you

  798. be on the

  799. campaign trail

  800. with Jesus?

  801. To do this

  802. you need to

  803. do three

  804. things and

  805. they all

  806. begin with

  807. P.

  808. You need

  809. prayer,

  810. you need

  811. people and

  812. you need

  813. a plan.

  814. You need

  815. to pray

  816. for opportunity.

  817. You need

  818. people to

  819. pray for in

  820. order that

  821. you might

  822. take that

  823. opportunity and

  824. you need a

  825. plan.

  826. How can I

  827. make this

  828. good news

  829. so attractive

  830. and accessible

  831. to these

  832. people?

  833. How can I

  834. have confidence

  835. in the

  836. gospel and

  837. share it

  838. with clarity?

  839. Pray,

  840. pray for

  841. people,

  842. pray for

  843. opportunity,

  844. pray for

  845. boldness,

  846. pray for

  847. clarity,

  848. which was

  849. incredibly

  850. unclear.

  851. People,

  852. invest in

  853. people,

  854. spend time

  855. with people,

  856. get to know

  857. people,

  858. have

  859. conversations

  860. with people

  861. and have

  862. a plan.

  863. what

  864. windows of

  865. opportunity

  866. do I

  867. have to

  868. present this

  869. manifesto

  870. in a

  871. clear and

  872. compelling

  873. way?

  874. So,

  875. final round

  876. of whose

  877. manifesto

  878. is it

  879. anyway?

  880. Five

  881. manifesto

  882. promises,

  883. good news

  884. to the

  885. poor,

  886. freedom

  887. for

  888. captives,

  889. sight for

  890. the blind,

  891. emancipation

  892. for the

  893. oppressed,

  894. welcomed

  895. by God

  896. now and

  897. forever.

  898. whose

  899. manifesto

  900. promises

  901. are those

  902. that Jesus

  903. Christ to

  904. us and

  905. to you.

  906. Question is,

  907. how will

  908. you vote?

  909. Let me

  910. pray.

  911. Father God,

  912. we thank

  913. you for

  914. Jesus.

  915. We thank

  916. you for

  917. who he

  918. is.

  919. We thank

  920. you for

  921. his perfect

  922. life.

  923. Father,

  924. we thank

  925. you that

  926. he obeyed

  927. you and

  928. did everything

  929. that you

  930. called him

  931. to do.

  932. And that

  933. now this

  934. Jesus has

  935. become our

  936. hope,

  937. our rescue,

  938. our freedom.

  939. He is

  940. good news,

  941. he is our

  942. life.

  943. He is the

  944. only one in

  945. all the world

  946. who can help

  947. us out of

  948. the death

  949. and sin

  950. that we

  951. naturally live

  952. in.

  953. So,

  954. Lord,

  955. may we be

  956. on board

  957. with him.

  958. May we be

  959. on team,

  960. Jesus.

  961. And may

  962. we love

  963. him and

  964. serve him

  965. and share

  966. him through

  967. all of our

  968. lives,

  969. for all of

  970. our lives,

  971. until we

  972. see him.

  973. Father,

  974. we thank

  975. you so

  976. much for

  977. your grace

  978. and your

  979. goodness to

  980. us in

  981. sending your

  982. son,

  983. Jesus.

  984. So,

  985. Lord,

  986. help us to

  987. respond to

  988. him appropriately.

  989. We pray

  990. this in his

  991. name and

  992. for his

  993. glory.

  994. Amen.
