  1. I wonder if you've ever had one of those situations where you think, who does this person think he is?

  2. How dare they say that? How can he possibly get away with it?

  3. Well, as we come to our section in Luke's Gospel this morning, we might be tempted to think the same of Jesus.

  4. We might even think it's a bit confusing all that's going on.

  5. I know that I did when I first opened it.

  6. Well, as I prepared for this this morning, it was really helpful listening back to what Graham said last week.

  7. And he helpfully reminded us that in this part of Luke's Gospel, we're in Jesus' school of discipleship.

  8. We are following Jesus to the cross. That's our Gospel foundation for all that he says.

  9. And the big question is, what does it mean to follow this King?

  10. We saw in the story of the Good Samaritan that there's an external part to following Jesus.

  11. Last week with Mary, Martha and prayer is an internal part to following Jesus.

  12. And our passage this evening ties together why Jesus is able to make these claims, make these demands on our lives.

  13. So if you have a Bible, please come with me to Luke chapter 11.

    Luke 11 chapter mention

  14. If you've got one of the red pew Bibles, I believe it's page 1043.

  15. Let me read for us verses 14 to 28 of Luke chapter 11.

    Luke 11 chapter mention

  16. Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute.

  17. When the demon left, the man who had been mute, and the crowd were amazed.

  18. But some of them said, by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.

  19. Others tested him by asking for a sign from heaven.

  20. Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined.

  21. And a house divided against itself will fall.

  22. If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand?

  23. I say this because you claim that I drive out demons by Beelzebul.

  24. Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your followers drive them out?

  25. So then they will be your judges.

  26. But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

  27. When a strong man fully armed guards his own house, his possessions are safe.

  28. When someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up his plunder.

  29. Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

  30. When an impious spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and finds none.

  31. Then it says, I will return to the house I left.

  32. When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order.

  33. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there.

  34. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.

  35. As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out,

  36. Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.

  37. He replied, blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.

  38. I am a woeful writer.

  39. Everything I write, my wife Amy proofreads for me.

  40. Just last week, I was writing a new CV, an updated CV.

  41. And in the skills section, my wife Amy wrote,

  42. Craig has a specific skill to add on unnecessary words in sentences just to see if I would spot it.

  43. And that struck me as it came here that Luke could not be any different.

  44. There is no wasted ink, no wasted words here.

  45. Have a look at this amazing description Luke gives of this amazing miracle in verse 14.

  46. Luke couldn't be more succinct here on his description.

  47. But look at verses 15 to 16.

  48. Nothing is said of the reaction of this man.

  49. Instead, it's all the reaction of those who witnessed it.

  50. People are amazed, they marvel, but they don't like what they see.

  51. Some reject Jesus as being from Beelzebul, that is Satan.

  52. Others want more, just one more sign, one more sign from heaven.

  53. These people are skeptical of what they've seen.

  54. They don't doubt that miracles happened,

  55. but rather they are doubting how it was able to happen.

  56. Perhaps you're here this evening, this morning, sorry, or listening online,

  57. and you are skeptical also of Jesus.

  58. Let's see how Jesus answers these skeptics,

  59. and perhaps it may answer our questions also.

  60. We don't know what the sign is that people are looking for,

  61. yet Jesus has enough confidence of what we see in verse 14

  62. that it is enough to know who he is.

  63. As I mentioned, Luke doesn't go into much detail about what Jesus does,

  64. but there's two things we can know from it.

  65. First off, that Jesus has power of the physical realm.

  66. He has a physical man here with a physical issue

  67. and produces a physical solution.

  68. And secondly, in this verse,

  69. we see that Jesus has the power of the spiritual realm.

  70. The reason why this man is mute

  71. is because he was possessed by a demon,

  72. and Jesus casts out the demon,

  73. and the demon comes out.

  74. Jesus has power over the physical realm

  75. and his power over the spiritual realm.

  76. Jesus has power over the heavens,

  77. and Jesus has power over the earth.

  78. He is this God of Genesis 1-1.

  79. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

  80. Jesus is the cosmic king,

  81. and the cosmic king has come.

  82. But more than that,

  83. in verses 17-23,

  84. we see the cosmic king has conquered.

  85. Some were seeking a sign in verse 16,

  86. and I think verse 17 is wonderful.

  87. Jesus is knowing their thoughts.

  88. They want a sign, he's done a sign,

  89. he knows their thoughts,

  90. they get another sign for free.

  91. It's two for one,

  92. but it isn't enough for them.

  93. Look down at verse 17,

  94. how Jesus responds to this.

  95. Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined,

  96. and a house divided against itself will fall.

  97. It clearly shows Jesus' point, doesn't it?

  98. It simply makes no sense for Satan's kingdom

  99. to be casting out another.

  100. It's divided.

  101. It will not stand.

  102. It's a formula for failure.

  103. By logic alone, it is ruled out.

  104. Jesus did not cast out this demon

  105. by the power of Satan.

  106. And you can imagine the crowd there going,

  107. okay Jesus, we get you.

  108. But if it wasn't that then,

  109. how did this happen?

  110. Well, three things Jesus goes on to say

  111. to expand his point.

  112. Look at verses 18, 19, 20.

  113. See the if, if, if there

  114. at the start of the verses.

  115. Let's see how Jesus draws out his argument.

  116. Verse 18.

  117. If Satan is divided against himself,

  118. how can his kingdom stand?

  119. I say this because you claim

  120. that I drive out demons by Beelzebul.

  121. How can the devil have a kingdom

  122. working against itself?

  123. It won't stand.

  124. You can't say that it's a strong

  125. satanic force in the world

  126. and then say it's fighting against itself.

  127. That can't work.

  128. It doesn't make sense.

  129. So Jesus moves on in verse 19.

  130. Now, if I drive out demons by Beelzebul,

  131. so whom do your followers drive them out?

  132. So then they will be your judges.

  133. Who are these followers

  134. Jesus is talking about?

  135. Or in ESV you might have,

  136. who are these sons

  137. that Jesus is talking about?

  138. If you turn back to chapter 10,

  139. verse 17,

  140. I think we have our answer,

  141. which says,

  142. the 72,

  143. that is the 72

  144. that was sent out by Jesus,

  145. returned with joy and said,

  146. Lord, even the demons

  147. submit to us in your name.

  148. Jesus is saying,

  149. these disciples,

  150. these fellow heirs with Israel,

  151. if I cast up demons

  152. by the power of Satan,

  153. then so do they.

  154. And therefore the opposite,

  155. if they do it by another power,

  156. then so do I.

  157. To reject them also means

  158. they will be your judges.

  159. Do you see what Jesus is doing

  160. to their arguments?

  161. They make a claim

  162. and Jesus draws out the conclusions.

  163. If you say this,

  164. if this,

  165. but if that,

  166. leaving us with a final if

  167. in verse 20,

  168. but if I drive out demons

  169. by the finger of God,

  170. then the kingdom of God

  171. has come upon you.

  172. Jesus takes their argument

  173. and says,

  174. no, it can't be that

  175. because that means this.

  176. It can't be that

  177. because that means this.

  178. Therefore,

  179. it's got to mean this.

  180. And look at his explanation

  181. in 21 to 22

  182. of what's going on.

  183. When a strong man

  184. fully armed

  185. guards his own house,

  186. his possessions are safe.

  187. When someone stronger attacks

  188. and overpowers him,

  189. he takes away the armor

  190. in which the man trusted

  191. and divides up his plunder.

  192. Jesus didn't cast out

  193. the demon of verse 14

  194. by Satan,

  195. but by strength.

  196. Jesus pictures here

  197. a cosmic war

  198. between the power

  199. of the kingdom of the devil

  200. and the power

  201. of the kingdom of God.

  202. And it's a cosmic war,

  203. but it is no struggle.

  204. For in these verses here,

  205. in this example Jesus gives,

  206. he shows us that

  207. in Jesus the king,

  208. the kingdom of God

  209. has come in presence

  210. and in power

  211. to plunder.

  212. I mean,

  213. this scene in verse 21

  214. is formidable,

  215. isn't it?

  216. We've got this strong man.

  217. He's fully armed.

  218. He's in his own palace.

  219. He's on his home turf.

  220. He knows where

  221. every nook and cranny is.

  222. Then in comes

  223. the stronger man

  224. on the offense.

  225. And he attacks him

  226. and he overcomes him.

  227. He takes away his armor

  228. in which he trusted

  229. and he divides his spoil.

  230. Satan has a strong grip

  231. in verse 21,

  232. but in comes

  233. the stronger man,

  234. the one for whom

  235. the gates of hell

  236. could not prevail.

  237. And Jesus barges in

  238. and he overcomes

  239. for he is the cosmic king,

  240. the one with the ultimate power,

  241. the one with power

  242. over the physical realm

  243. and the spiritual realm.

  244. And with this victory

  245. come the spoils of war,

  246. distributed to those

  247. who fight with him.

  248. And what are these spoils

  249. Jesus has won for us?

  250. Well, I think it's everything

  251. that is wrapped up

  252. in salvation,

  253. forgiveness of sins,

  254. the coming of the spirit,

  255. his gifts,

  256. union with Christ,

  257. eternity with the king.

  258. Jesus' work means

  259. that Satan

  260. is no longer in control

  261. and that's the point

  262. of these miracles.

  263. They are audiovisual testimony

  264. that Satan

  265. has ultimately lost.

  266. That Christ

  267. is the one who reigns,

  268. that he is the one of power,

  269. that he is the king.

  270. The presence

  271. of the kingdom of God

  272. is seen not

  273. in good advice,

  274. but seen in power

  275. that overcomes evil.

  276. Now how is this

  277. power that overcomes

  278. evil seen today?

  279. What we see

  280. in verses 21 to 22

  281. is something

  282. that is literally true

  283. of those

  284. who are demon

  285. or are demon-possessed.

  286. But it's also

  287. an image

  288. of every person

  289. that has ever lived

  290. who has ever come

  291. to know

  292. the Lord Jesus Christ.

  293. In Paul's letter

  294. to the Ephesians

  295. at the beginning

  296. of chapter 2,

  297. he speaks about

  298. how everyone

  299. who is not with Jesus

  300. is under the rule

  301. of Satan,

  302. the prince of power

  303. of the air

  304. to use Paul's language

  305. in Ephesians.

  306. So if verse 21

  307. is true of everyone,

  308. how does Jesus

  309. break in

  310. and defeat Satan?

  311. I think it's Paul's letter

  312. to the Colossians

  313. really helps us here.

  314. From 1.13

  315. he says,

  316. For he that is Jesus

  317. has rescued us

  318. from the dominion

  319. of darkness

  320. and brought us

  321. into the kingdom

  322. of the Son

  323. he loves.

  324. And chapter 2

  325. verses 13 to 15

  326. he goes on to say,

  327. When you were dead

  328. in your sins

  329. and in the uncircumcision

  330. of your flesh

  331. God made you alive

  332. with Christ

  333. he forgave us

  334. all our sins

  335. having cancelled

  336. the charge

  337. of our legal indebtedness

  338. which stood against us

  339. and condemned us

  340. he has taken it away

  341. nailing it

  342. to the cross

  343. and having disarmed

  344. the powers

  345. and authorities

  346. he made a public

  347. spectacle of them

  348. triumphing over them

  349. by the cross.

  350. What Paul speaks of

  351. in Colossians 2

  352. is exactly what

  353. Jesus is doing

  354. in this journey

  355. on the way to Jerusalem.

  356. He is travelling

  357. to the cross

  358. to do these things

  359. for it's at the cross

  360. where Jesus stood

  361. toe to toe with Satan

  362. and won his great victory.

  363. It's at the cross

  364. where we see the power

  365. of the gospel.

  366. It's at the cross

  367. where we hear

  368. of this crucified Christ

  369. and the power

  370. of the Holy Spirit

  371. comes to those

  372. who believe in him.

  373. This is how we know

  374. the power of Jesus today.

  375. This is how we see

  376. the power of Jesus today.

  377. This is why Paul

  378. could say

  379. at the beginning of Romans

  380. in 1.16

  381. for I am not ashamed

  382. of the gospel

  383. because it is the power

  384. of God

  385. that brings salvation

  386. to all who believe

  387. first the Jew

  388. and then to the Gentile.

  389. The gospel

  390. is the power of God

  391. for salvation.

  392. The power of God

  393. where Jesus

  394. takes the house

  395. by force

  396. where he keeps it

  397. and he rules it

  398. and he reigns over

  399. what was rightly his.

  400. So that means

  401. when we tell people

  402. about Jesus

  403. as we do evangelism

  404. we are infiltrating

  405. enemy lines

  406. in one sense.

  407. As the Holy Spirit

  408. uses the gospel message

  409. we share

  410. to break down

  411. the rule and reign

  412. of Satan

  413. in that person's life

  414. and set in throne

  415. to Christ there

  416. as a rightful king

  417. over what

  418. is rightfully his.

  419. that means

  420. that small conversation

  421. you have with a friend

  422. about Jesus

  423. was anything

  424. but insignificant.

  425. That stumbling

  426. sharing of the gospel

  427. with a colleague

  428. with a neighbour

  429. was anything

  430. but weak.

  431. That means

  432. that church's plan

  433. for some people

  434. to commit

  435. middle class

  436. social suicide

  437. and move to a housing scheme

  438. is anything

  439. but foolish.

  440. For the gospel

  441. is the power

  442. of God

  443. for salvation

  444. and the gates

  445. of hell

  446. will not prevail

  447. over it

  448. for Jesus

  449. has attacked

  450. he has overcome

  451. and he has conquered

  452. Satan.

  453. Now don't want to leave

  454. here thinking

  455. that Satan

  456. is a complete weakling

  457. because that's not true

  458. just read the start

  459. of Job.

  460. Just remember

  461. verses 21 here

  462. he is the strong man

  463. but the Lord Jesus Christ

  464. is the one

  465. who is even

  466. stronger

  467. he is the cosmic king

  468. and that's why

  469. Jesus draws

  470. this line in the sand

  471. the bottom line

  472. of this cosmic result

  473. one on the cross

  474. where Jesus is heading

  475. in our passage

  476. look at verse 23

  477. whoever is not with me

  478. is against me

  479. and whoever does not

  480. gather with me

  481. scatters

  482. in a cosmic war

  483. there are no spectators

  484. as one commentator

  485. says in a cosmic war

  486. there is no Switzerland

  487. you are either

  488. for

  489. or against

  490. Jesus has shown us

  491. who he is

  492. and he says

  493. who do you say

  494. I am

  495. in response

  496. he leaves us

  497. no wiggle room

  498. no grey area

  499. and the point is clear

  500. do you stand

  501. with Jesus

  502. and help gather

  503. in those

  504. who also stand

  505. with him

  506. praying for his work

  507. making the most

  508. of the opportunities

  509. we have

  510. or do you go out

  511. and scatter

  512. and influence others

  513. not to come to him

  514. or to put more starkly

  515. are you with Jesus

  516. in the kingdom of light

  517. or of the devil

  518. in the kingdom

  519. of darkness

  520. there is no in between

  521. and Jesus calls us

  522. to make a decision

  523. the cosmic king

  524. has come

  525. the cosmic king

  526. has conquered

  527. and the cosmic king

  528. calls

  529. for a response

  530. Jesus draws this line

  531. at the end of verse 23

  532. and then in verse 24

  533. and 26

  534. it's as if he peels

  535. back the scene

  536. giving us

  537. some sort of insight

  538. into the spiritual realm

  539. going on behind

  540. possibly explaining

  541. what's happened

  542. since verse 14

  543. remember

  544. we don't know

  545. this man

  546. at the beginning

  547. has repented

  548. and believed in the Lord

  549. all we know

  550. is that he had a demon

  551. removed by him

  552. by the Lord Jesus Christ

  553. and in verse 24

  554. we see that the spirit

  555. goes wandering

  556. seeking rest

  557. and it finds none

  558. so it returns home

  559. that is

  560. the body

  561. from which

  562. it was removed

  563. as the spirit returns

  564. it finds a man

  565. in good order

  566. morally upright

  567. life has been tidied up

  568. but still open

  569. to demons

  570. there's nothing

  571. protecting it

  572. no stronger force

  573. nothing has replaced it

  574. no protection

  575. from God

  576. to the Holy Spirit

  577. dwelling in that man

  578. this is a picture

  579. of a man

  580. who had a demon

  581. removed by God

  582. sorted his life out

  583. began to live

  584. an upright life

  585. but ultimately

  586. was not

  587. saved

  588. he had not acted

  589. on God's goodness

  590. towards him

  591. he had not received

  592. the Holy Spirit

  593. the spoils

  594. that came from

  595. Jesus

  596. defeating the strong man

  597. and so he's left

  598. himself open

  599. to more demons

  600. and it's a tragic

  601. picture

  602. truly tragic picture

  603. and it's the most

  604. direct way

  605. of talking about

  606. the activity

  607. of demon possession

  608. but what can we learn

  609. from this

  610. we don't learn

  611. that everyone

  612. who's a Christian

  613. has the Holy Spirit

  614. dwelling within

  615. and everyone

  616. who isn't a Christian

  617. has a demon

  618. dwelling within them

  619. that's not true

  620. and that's neither

  621. the point

  622. of this text

  623. but I think

  624. we see a picture

  625. of someone

  626. who's trying

  627. to clean up

  628. their life

  629. trying to do better

  630. trying to live

  631. a moral life

  632. and perhaps

  633. may even have

  634. succeeded

  635. perhaps this person

  636. to many of us

  637. may look like

  638. a Christian

  639. but they aren't

  640. they may not

  641. be demon possessed

  642. but they aren't

  643. a spiritual vacuum

  644. either

  645. Christ is not

  646. dwelling in their

  647. hearts

  648. Satan still reigns

  649. over them

  650. they are not

  651. on the side

  652. of Jesus

  653. so that's how

  654. verses 27 to 28

  655. fit in with this

  656. as Jesus was

  657. saying these things

  658. a woman in the crowd

  659. called out

  660. blessed is a mother

  661. who gave you birth

  662. and nursed you

  663. and he replied

  664. blessed rather

  665. are those

  666. who hear the word

  667. of God

  668. and obey it

  669. this woman

  670. struck by what

  671. she's seen

  672. struck by what

  673. she's heard

  674. just blurts out

  675. this praise to Jesus

  676. the point of a blessing

  677. is not to eulogise Mary

  678. but instead Jesus

  679. and Jesus agrees

  680. with the blessing

  681. he says yes

  682. that's true

  683. but

  684. and he raises

  685. the bar up

  686. to a greater blessing

  687. he raises the bar

  688. up to a more

  689. specific

  690. particular blessing

  691. he says yes

  692. but

  693. blessed rather

  694. are those

  695. who hear the word

  696. of God

  697. and keep it

  698. this is what

  699. it looks like

  700. to be

  701. on the side

  702. of Jesus

  703. to hear his word

  704. and keep it

  705. let's take a step back

  706. let's see

  707. how this fits in

  708. with what we've seen

  709. in Jesus'

  710. school of discipleship

  711. so far

  712. remember we are

  713. following Jesus

  714. on his way

  715. to Jerusalem

  716. Jesus is off

  717. to bear the wrath

  718. of God

  719. for our sin

  720. off to transfer

  721. all those

  722. who will believe

  723. in him

  724. from the domain

  725. of darkness

  726. into his kingdom

  727. of light

  728. he is off

  729. to defeat

  730. the strong man

  731. and take his spoils

  732. this is our gospel

  733. indicative

  734. our gospel foundation

  735. for all that Jesus

  736. says in this passage

  737. in Luke's gospel

  738. and as he travels

  739. there to the cross

  740. to Jerusalem

  741. he is teaching

  742. what it looks like

  743. for us to follow him

  744. that is to hear

  745. his word

  746. and keep it

  747. and that's our

  748. gospel imperative

  749. our gospel

  750. actions built

  751. upon that

  752. gospel foundation

  753. think back

  754. to chapter 10

  755. where we see

  756. that teaching

  757. about the Samaritan

  758. and the Mary

  759. and Martha

  760. and prayer

  761. three examples

  762. of following Jesus

  763. on his way

  764. to Jerusalem

  765. in story

  766. of the Samaritan

  767. obeying God's word

  768. looked like

  769. care for others

  770. external

  771. with Mary

  772. and Martha

  773. looked like

  774. obeying God's words

  775. looked like

  776. attention

  777. to Jesus

  778. internal

  779. and on prayer

  780. dependence

  781. to God

  782. obeying God's word

  783. praying to him

  784. as father

  785. again

  786. internal

  787. as we heard

  788. last week

  789. and in our passage

  790. I think Jesus

  791. ties all this together

  792. obeying God's word

  793. looks like

  794. believing who

  795. Jesus is

  796. that he is

  797. the king of all

  798. the one who

  799. created the heavens

  800. and the earth

  801. so

  802. obey him

  803. to hear God's word

  804. and to not obey it

  805. is in the language

  806. of verses 21

  807. and 22

  808. like

  809. having Jesus

  810. the stronger man

  811. dwelling within us

  812. but at the same time

  813. hearing the whispers

  814. of Satan's strong man

  815. at the back door

  816. trying to sneak him in

  817. up the stairs

  818. into the spare room

  819. I think

  820. why would we do that?

  821. Why would we try

  822. to welcome Satan

  823. back in?

  824. the strong man

  825. Satan

  826. and the demons

  827. they're homicidal

  828. they're out to destroy you

  829. trying to stop you

  830. from hearing God's word

  831. trying to stop you

  832. from obeying God's words

  833. and they will not

  834. stop coming back

  835. so to try to

  836. welcome them in

  837. to let them in

  838. to some small area

  839. of our life

  840. to go against

  841. the word of the

  842. cosmic king

  843. is a guess

  844. spiritually suicidal

  845. and for each of us

  846. trying to sneak Satan

  847. in the back door

  848. will look different

  849. perhaps things

  850. come to mind

  851. right now for you

  852. as you're aware

  853. of the temptation

  854. you face

  855. to go against

  856. the word of Jesus

  857. and instead go after

  858. the words of Satan

  859. I wonder what has

  860. your authority

  861. in your life

  862. in the way you spend

  863. your time

  864. in the way you use

  865. the internet

  866. in your giving

  867. in your spending

  868. in your relationships

  869. who is the ultimate

  870. authority

  871. yet in the face

  872. of this great

  873. challenge

  874. we find great

  875. comfort

  876. for not one

  877. Christian

  878. will face that

  879. daily battle

  880. alone

  881. for dwelling

  882. within the believers

  883. is the cosmic

  884. king himself

  885. one of the most

  886. wonderful passages

  887. I think

  888. in John 14

  889. 23

  890. Jesus says

  891. anyone who loves

  892. me

  893. will obey

  894. my teaching

  895. and my father

  896. will love them

  897. and we will come

  898. to them

  899. and make

  900. our home

  901. in them

  902. the same Jesus

  903. who conquered

  904. the devil

  905. on the cross

  906. now dwells

  907. in all those

  908. who love him

  909. who keep his

  910. words

  911. which means

  912. that when we hear

  913. those whispers

  914. at the back door

  915. we are able to say

  916. no to the strong man

  917. because we have one

  918. dwelling within us

  919. who is far greater

  920. than he

  921. we have one

  922. dwelling within us

  923. who has transferred us

  924. from the domain

  925. of darkness

  926. into the kingdom

  927. of light

  928. we have the one

  929. dwelling within us

  930. who is the cosmic

  931. king

  932. who has come

  933. who has conquered

  934. and now today

  935. calls for a response

  936. let me pray

  937. our great God

  938. and Father

  939. rejoice that we

  940. can come to you

  941. in prayer

  942. not based on our

  943. sincerity

  944. but based upon

  945. our status

  946. in your son

  947. because of what

  948. he did

  949. on the cross

  950. Lord Jesus

  951. we thank you

  952. and we praise you

  953. for the cross

  954. for the life

  955. that we now

  956. have in you

  957. and yet

  958. at the same time

  959. we are

  960. conscious of our sin

  961. of our shortcomings

  962. forgive us

  963. of our sin

  964. we ask

  965. show us

  966. in our lives

  967. where we are not

  968. following you

  969. and so in light

  970. of all that you

  971. have done

  972. on the cross

  973. bring us

  974. into your kingdom

  975. to a seat

  976. at your table

  977. to sit at your

  978. right hand

  979. help us therefore

  980. to live in light

  981. of who we are

  982. in you

  983. and as we think

  984. over what we've

  985. looked at this morning

  986. as we go to

  987. wherever

  988. you have called

  989. us

  990. in this world

  991. as we go

  992. to seek

  993. to tell others

  994. about you

  995. the great

  996. cosmic king

  997. may you help us

  998. to speak

  999. your gospel

  1000. in confidence

  1001. knowing that

  1002. it is the gospel

  1003. that saves

  1004. not us

  1005. help us

  1006. not be ashamed

  1007. of this glorious

  1008. gospel

  1009. for it is the

  1010. power of God

  1011. for salvation

  1012. to all who believe

  1013. so Jesus

  1014. help us

  1015. to live

  1016. as you call

  1017. us to

  1018. to be a people

  1019. who are known

  1020. by people

  1021. who love you

  1022. because they hear

  1023. your words

  1024. and they obey it

  1025. we ask all these

  1026. things for your glory

  1027. Lord Jesus

  1028. and for our joy

  1029. in you

  1030. Amen

  1031. you

  1032. you

  1033. you

  1034. you

  1035. you

  1036. you

  1037. you

  1038. you

  1039. you

  1040. you
