  1. Hello everyone. I've seen quite a few new faces today, or faces I haven't seen before.

  2. Just in case I'm from Peru, naturally I don't speak English as my native language, it's Spanish.

  3. And I have a son who is going to be two years old in a month, less than a month now.

  4. And I've been forcing him to be bilingual.

  5. And I'm pushing for him to speak Spanish and English at the same time.

  6. And that's causing a toll on me in so many ways, because I'm kind of speaking now Spanglish.

  7. So, throughout my sermon, you feel I'm saying something you don't understand, it's probably Spanglish.

  8. Just in case. But anyway, we are supposed to... that's my excuse anyway.

  9. But we are here to dig into this song.

  10. And what I want you to do now is to think there in your seat.

  11. When was the last time that you felt in danger?

  12. When was the last time that you felt that you, or someone you really care, was in danger, or were in danger?

  13. A time in your life when you just felt that your life was being threatened.

  14. And what I want you to do is just to remember, how was your attitude in that time?

  15. How was your reaction in that time?

  16. And how was your handling of that situation?

  17. Perhaps you were lucky enough not to have any dangerous situations in your life.

  18. You've never been in that situation where you really felt you were in danger.

  19. That's great.

  20. But personally for me, I had been in several situations where my life was in danger.

  21. And it was tough and difficult sometimes.

  22. I particularly remember one, this particular situation where we had been commissioned to go and reach and help the setting of the church.

  23. And in the middle of the Amazon, to one of those villages.

  24. And it was deep, deep inside the Amazon.

  25. And they wouldn't speak Spanish at all.

  26. They would speak the local dialect.

  27. So communication was kind of difficult with them.

  28. And they tend to be not really engaging with outsiders either.

  29. So we were just a random bunch of guys just coming there, showing up, trying to be in touch with them and set up a church.

  30. That's great, isn't it?

  31. It's a great thing.

  32. And so naturally, we had some people very good and very engaging and responding.

  33. But we also have, in a village of 120 people, some people who were really not happy with us.

  34. And they were always keeping us in check.

  35. Everything we do, no matter where we go, they were always like, we always knew there was this bunch of guys who were this, always keeping us in check.

  36. And I particularly remember this night, this particular night, middle of the night, just well past midnight probably.

  37. Can't remember what time exactly.

  38. Because generally, when you are in the Amazon, there's no power there.

  39. So after 6 p.m., you just go to sleep.

  40. And then you wake up before 5.

  41. So that's kind of the way it works.

  42. But just can you imagine, just in the middle of the Amazon, we get this nook on the door.

  43. And I just come up to the place where we stay in.

  44. And when I come up, I just find this, there were a bunch of villagers with machetes, arrows, and shotguns in their hands.

  45. Matt yelling at me and broke in Spanish and saying, you must sleep now.

  46. I was kind of like, remember, this is the middle of the night.

  47. This is the Amazon.

  48. It's not like you're just going to catch a bus, get a cool taxi, and things are going to be easy for you.

  49. And you go, these guys, we're actually drunk.

  50. So it's even worse.

  51. You don't really know what to do.

  52. So I was like, you know, I was trying to deal with it and say, you know what the situation?

  53. We're in the middle of the Amazon.

  54. We cannot leave now.

  55. It's midnight.

  56. I'll just give us a couple hours.

  57. Then we can just leave when the day clears and we can do that.

  58. After some just talking and talking, eventually they say, okay, first thing in the morning, you are 11.

  59. And they were just really serious.

  60. It's very scary.

  61. And so they left.

  62. I remember myself going back to my hammock.

  63. Just scared, as you can imagine.

  64. Grabbing a machete in one of my hands.

  65. And singing a song in a quiet voice based on that Psalm 27, but it's not there anymore.

  66. In the Spanish version of Psalm 27.

  67. And singing very quietly in my mind while I was there.

  68. I know.

  69. I still have a machete in my hands.

  70. I know.

  71. That doesn't say much of the point.

  72. Trust me.

  73. But to make a story short, it was difficult for me to sleep that night.

  74. But eventually, the next day, the Lord was great.

  75. He did a miracle in that place.

  76. And we were able to stay for another few months.

  77. And after that, we were able to, after a low, hard effort, we were able to set up a church.

  78. Now it's a vibrant church in that place.

  79. Just to make a story short.

  80. It was a great thing.

  81. But it was that night, particularly.

  82. I really felt scared.

  83. I really felt that these guys wanted to do something.

  84. They were just doing it.

  85. And I remember not even telling the bunch of guys sitting next to me.

  86. I was just the one holding on on myself and being so scared of it.

  87. But why am I telling you this?

  88. I'm telling you this because, as you can see, sometimes in life, waiting under difficult times is tough.

  89. Sometimes in life, waiting when we have difficult situations where our life is in danger, it's really tough.

  90. And we are not very good at it.

  91. Doesn't matter how many years of a Christian you are.

  92. Doesn't matter how much of the law you know.

  93. Doesn't matter how much of the Bible you know.

  94. Doesn't matter how tough you think you are.

  95. And one of the things we can see in this psalm is that, precisely, this is a guy, the one who wrote this psalm, which is David.

  96. Who is able to keep himself together in a difficult situation.

  97. And so, in so many ways, I just want us to see that and see just slightly carefully what it says.

  98. But, we are never encouraged to suppose that Christian life will be easy and smooth or free from pressure.

  99. Actually, it's something we learn from the psalms is that, in general, that, even in the toughness and the difficulties of times, the psalms, in general, what the psalms teaches us,

  100. is that we can pray and we can call upon God in any single situation in our lives.

  101. No matter what it is.

  102. And you're going to describe what can you learn from the whole psalms, the 150 psalms, is that, doesn't matter what your situation is,

  103. that you can count on God and you can pray on Him.

  104. You can name whatever situation you can see.

  105. Times of despair, when you are overwhelmed by danger, or sometimes you are anger, or sometimes you are starving, or sometimes you feel like something is not right with you.

  106. And even sometimes when you feel like you are sin, you have sinned.

  107. The psalms always teach us that we can always be in touch with God and come close to Him.

  108. Especially in those dangerous situations, as I described the one for myself, and as we're going to see the one from David.

  109. Something to say before we get into this psalm, about Psalm 27, a few things.

  110. Psalm 27, along with Psalm 26 and 28, are three psalms whose main topic talks about waiting in God, or waiting in the Lord with confidence.

  111. They are like triplet psalms, that are all part of the same idea altogether.

  112. That we can wait for the Lord's help, in hope and in confidence, under difficult circumstances.

  113. Words like the house of the Lord, temple and tabernacle, are frequently mentioned there.

  114. You'll see it throughout these three psalms particularly.

  115. Always been mentioned and mentioned.

  116. I'll tell you all the end why I think it's that.

  117. And particularly about this psalm, no one can read this well-known Psalm 27,

  118. without being struck by the contrast that exists between the first one to six verses,

  119. from the second part of the psalm, from 7 to 14.

  120. There is like a different contrast between both of them.

  121. And it is so marked that some commentators suggest that we have been,

  122. what we have here is probably two psalms who have been composed under different circumstances,

  123. that probably have been merged together.

  124. Again, this is what some commentators think.

  125. We don't have certainty to say that.

  126. But it's just the contrast between one to six, from 7 to 14,

  127. that make us believe that, make us think that.

  128. But overall, both sections, it has something in common,

  129. is that throughout a psalm, we can see the reality of David's faith.

  130. It is important, however, to realize that this is not a faith that is fair weather only.

  131. This is not a faith that only behaves when God is good.

  132. But rather, this is a faith, displaying in the psalms,

  133. that behaves in a way that doesn't matter what the situation is,

  134. that the psalmist, David, still trusts in God under all the circumstances,

  135. and under all the difficult pressures.

  136. This is the kind of faith that stuns the shocks and pressures of life,

  137. and comes out stronger from all these pressures.

  138. But, to be honest, we can never have or display this kind of faith,

  139. this kind of confidence as David had,

  140. if we try to trust in a God that we don't know.

  141. One of the things we see throughout the psalms,

  142. and throughout the psalms in general,

  143. that whoever the writer of that particular psalm you're reading is,

  144. he is speaking from a point of knowing who his maker is,

  145. for knowing who his God is.

  146. We cannot never develop a confidence in a God that we don't know.

  147. And perhaps that is something to keep in our hearts as we dig in into the world.

  148. If we want to know how we can face tough times in our lives,

  149. get to know your maker.

  150. Get to know your creator.

  151. Get to know who God is.

  152. Once you know who God is,

  153. you can actually develop

  154. the patience to deal with tough times.

  155. I think that's what we see.

  156. Again, I'm saying so many things in general about the psalms before we dig into it.

  157. And I really like the way the psalm finishes.

  158. In verses 13 and 14, I'll just read it to you.

  159. And he finishes in this way.

  160. After all the struggles from the chapter, he says,

  161. David definitely had to know his maker

  162. to be able to learn a psalm with those difficulties like this.

  163. And that's such a faithful, trustworthy way.

  164. Anyway, so I divided this psalm in three different things.

  165. So I'm going to be speaking from these three things today.

  166. The things that I think David did.

  167. And we can see in these things that we can actually do it ourselves.

  168. So there are three things I think he did.

  169. From verses 1 to 3,

  170. what David is doing is,

  171. David is remembering,

  172. or David remembers who God is.

  173. That is the first thing we see in this psalm,

  174. that he remembers who God is from verses 1 to 3.

  175. From verses 4 to 6,

  176. he not only remembers who God is,

  177. but he, David, delights in the beauty of God.

  178. So from 1 to 3, he remembers who God is.

  179. From 4 to 6,

  180. he decides to delight in the beauty of God.

  181. And in the last part, from 7 to 12,

  182. David not only remembers who God is,

  183. not only delights in the beauty of God,

  184. but also he resolves to walk in God's way.

  185. So those three things we're going to be seeing today.

  186. And you're saying,

  187. why are you not mentioning 13 and 14?

  188. I think 13 and 14 has a whole global effect on the psalm

  189. that I will tell you at the end.

  190. So, let's read for a moment 1 to 3.

  191. David remembers who God is.

  192. This is what he says,

  193. The Lord is my light and my salvation.

  194. Who shall I fear?

  195. The Lord is the stronghold of my life.

  196. Of whom shall I be afraid?

  197. When the wicked advance against me to dewar me,

  198. it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.

  199. Though an army beseech me,

  200. my heart will not fear.

  201. Though war break out against me,

  202. even then,

  203. I will be held confident.

  204. If we are to wait with confidence in God,

  205. we must remember who God is.

  206. And if we're going to remember who God is,

  207. it is so important that we see God rightly.

  208. We see God on whom He is,

  209. knowing the way we want Him to be.

  210. So many times when we try to see about God,

  211. we want to make God fit in our mind and our thinking

  212. in the way we want God to be.

  213. But it's something we see from David,

  214. it's he sees God rightly.

  215. David was being hunted down by enemies.

  216. They were seeking Him with violence to take His life,

  217. and they wanted Him dead.

  218. Imagine yourself in that situation.

  219. I can imagine myself,

  220. I can relate to that.

  221. Seeing all the things that were going on through His mind,

  222. probably all the same things that would have been going through your mind

  223. in a situation like that.

  224. But perhaps not in David.

  225. Because it seems to us that David knew who God was.

  226. Look what he calls him.

  227. God is my light.

  228. He says, God was His light.

  229. That light that shines in the darkness.

  230. Even in His darkness,

  231. God was shining His light upon him

  232. and guiding him for the way to go.

  233. God knew where to take him

  234. because God knows everything.

  235. He knows everything.

  236. He doesn't need to Google for things to know where He's going.

  237. God knows where to go and where to take us.

  238. And I think David starts with that.

  239. God is my light.

  240. Why is it important?

  241. Why is the light so important?

  242. I'll tell you why it's important.

  243. Just an example.

  244. When you walk on the Amazon and it's so dark,

  245. in the middle of the night,

  246. and your flashlight is not working,

  247. light is very important in that way.

  248. So I think David says,

  249. light is so important

  250. because even when I'm struggling in this situation

  251. and I don't know where to go,

  252. God is my light.

  253. And He can help me to see clearly.

  254. He trusts that God is His life.

  255. And He knows where to take Him.

  256. But God wasn't only His light.

  257. He was also His salvation.

  258. It didn't matter who was surrounded David.

  259. It didn't matter who his enemy was.

  260. David knew that God was His salvation

  261. and that whatever the enemy would be,

  262. they couldn't even touch Him.

  263. They couldn't even close to Him

  264. because he knew that God was His salvation.

  265. He also declared that God is His stronghold.

  266. He also declared that God is His stronghold.

  267. He's like fortress,

  268. as a different version would say.

  269. He wasn't alone.

  270. God was with Him.

  271. He was this impenetrable fortress

  272. that no matter what the people around Him would do,

  273. He would be able to keep Him safe.

  274. I think this psalm talks about confidence

  275. in a way that we can trust in God.

  276. We can trust that God will protect us.

  277. We can trust that whatever the situation may be,

  278. God will be there to help us.

  279. I know it's very easy to say it.

  280. I know I can stand here as a preacher and say,

  281. yeah, yeah, that's the easiest thing to say.

  282. But I tell you, God can do it.

  283. You could say, okay, we are not David.

  284. David's been hunted down by his enemies.

  285. We are not a king who is like running away.

  286. So what can we learn from this song personally?

  287. I want you to, for a moment,

  288. to go for the verses 5,

  289. this very instant.

  290. And we're going to read just the first part,

  291. where he says,

  292. For in the day of trouble,

  293. He will keep me safe in His dwelling.

  294. What do you think David is referring

  295. when he says this day of trouble?

  296. What do you think is the day of trouble for him?

  297. You would see in verses 2 and 3,

  298. we can say that perhaps the day of trouble would be

  299. evil men advancing against him,

  300. enemies attacking him,

  301. armies besieging him,

  302. wars breaking out against him.

  303. Perhaps that was his way,

  304. or his day of trouble.

  305. But I think it didn't end there.

  306. Look down at verse 10 as well,

  307. what he says.

  308. Though my father and mother forsake me,

  309. the Lord will receive me.

  310. His day of trouble was not only

  311. enemies besieging him,

  312. but also I think it was that

  313. friends and family

  314. deserted him.

  315. So basically, let's see what David is doing

  316. throughout the song.

  317. It's like he is expanding

  318. the concept of day of trouble,

  319. and apply it to any sort of suffering

  320. that we could ever experience.

  321. So,

  322. whatever the day of trouble,

  323. whatever your day of trouble could be,

  324. someone attacking you,

  325. or opposing you,

  326. causing you sadness,

  327. sickness,

  328. or whatever it be,

  329. we can all add to this song

  330. and say,

  331. even in those difficult times,

  332. God is still good,

  333. and God is still my fortress,

  334. and God is still my salvation,

  335. and God can still

  336. keep me safe in the day of trouble.

  337. I think it's a fascinating song.

  338. But,

  339. okay,

  340. you're saying this,

  341. but how do we,

  342. generally the question is,

  343. how do you really react

  344. in the day of trouble?

  345. One of the biggest temptations

  346. we may face

  347. when we are in these difficult

  348. days of troubles

  349. is to sing wrongly

  350. about God.

  351. Because why?

  352. Because we come to God

  353. in desperate need.

  354. Trusting,

  355. okay,

  356. you're saying to trust in God,

  357. we're going to trust in God,

  358. I'm going to pray to Him,

  359. I'm going to ask Him

  360. to keep me free,

  361. to set me free for this problem,

  362. I'm going to ask Him

  363. to do something for me,

  364. but then we go,

  365. we just go wait and see it.

  366. And when you see it,

  367. you realize God doesn't do anything.

  368. And what do you think?

  369. There's something wrong with this.

  370. He may be not trustworthy,

  371. because He's not doing

  372. what I want Him to do.

  373. And that's generally the danger

  374. in these difficult situations

  375. when it comes to trusting.

  376. Because it's easy to trust

  377. when we see God

  378. doing what we want.

  379. But what about when He doesn't?

  380. What about when you're praying

  381. for that cancer to go away?

  382. What about when you're praying

  383. for that family member

  384. to come to faith?

  385. What about when you're praying

  386. for your partner not to leave you?

  387. And he doesn't.

  388. even in those difficult times,

  389. David comes back to us and says,

  390. I know that He will keep me safe.

  391. Whatever safe may be.

  392. This is a wonderful song

  393. from David.

  394. Because it opens up

  395. the whole life.

  396. Nobody promises

  397. that a Christian life

  398. is going to be great.

  399. It's going to be fascinating.

  400. It's going to pop up

  401. once we want it.

  402. Actually, no.

  403. It's all the opposite.

  404. It gets even harder

  405. and harder and harder.

  406. Why?

  407. Because God has promised

  408. something better at the end.

  409. Something that is not accomplished

  410. in this life,

  411. but in the life to come.

  412. We can't get foreshadows of that.

  413. We can't get some wee pictures of it.

  414. But that's not it at the end.

  415. So you think sometimes

  416. that God is good

  417. because your bank account was great.

  418. God's not good because of that.

  419. If you think that God is good

  420. because your life is great

  421. and your family is doing well,

  422. your children has got a job

  423. and all that,

  424. yeah, God is not good

  425. because of that.

  426. God is good because He is good.

  427. Despite what you get

  428. or what you don't.

  429. And I think we can see

  430. through this psalm

  431. that it doesn't matter

  432. what the situation is,

  433. David still thinks

  434. and still believes

  435. and still proclaims

  436. that God is good.

  437. You see, brothers and sisters,

  438. that one of the things

  439. we can always keep in our minds

  440. is that

  441. our confidence

  442. starts not

  443. when we see

  444. our deliverance,

  445. but our confidence

  446. starts

  447. when we see

  448. our deliverer.

  449. Mighty,

  450. sovereign,

  451. powerful,

  452. ruling for His throne,

  453. lifted up high,

  454. doing what He wants

  455. when He wants

  456. in the way He wants

  457. it.

  458. Perhaps I'll say it again.

  459. Our confidence

  460. doesn't start

  461. when we see

  462. our deliverance.

  463. It starts

  464. when we see

  465. our deliverance

  466. rightly

  467. in power.

  468. and I think

  469. that's one of the

  470. good things

  471. that this psalm

  472. does for us.

  473. God is all those things

  474. from 1 to 3

  475. that David is saying.

  476. He is light,

  477. He is salvation,

  478. He is stronghold.

  479. But David

  480. doesn't say

  481. that the Lord

  482. is light.

  483. He doesn't say

  484. that the Lord

  485. is salvation,

  486. salvation is strange

  487. and far away

  488. from Him.

  489. Rather,

  490. he says

  491. that the Lord

  492. is His life.

  493. David says

  494. the Lord

  495. is my life,

  496. the Lord

  497. is my salvation.

  498. He implies

  499. a sense of belonging.

  500. What can we say

  501. about that?

  502. How do we

  503. consider God?

  504. Is God

  505. your life?

  506. We all know

  507. God is life.

  508. Is God

  509. your salvation?

  510. We all know

  511. God's salvation

  512. but is God

  513. you?

  514. Do you have

  515. this sense of belonging

  516. that David has?

  517. Is God

  518. your life?

  519. Is God

  520. your salvation?

  521. If the answer

  522. is yes,

  523. then

  524. who shall we fear?

  525. As David said.

  526. But who shall I fear?

  527. Am I going to be

  528. scared of this?

  529. David said,

  530. no,

  531. I won't.

  532. So what he chooses

  533. to do,

  534. David first?

  535. He chooses to

  536. remember who God

  537. is.

  538. Who God is?

  539. He is his light,

  540. he is his salvation,

  541. he is his stronghold,

  542. he is the deliverer,

  543. mighty,

  544. he is the God

  545. maker of the universe,

  546. he is God

  547. sovereign,

  548. doing what he wants,

  549. when he wants,

  550. in the time he wants it.

  551. Once David

  552. sees that,

  553. he can go on

  554. to the next bit,

  555. which is,

  556. not only he's seeing

  557. who God is,

  558. he's remembering

  559. who God is,

  560. but now he decides

  561. to delight

  562. in the beauty

  563. of God.

  564. Verses 4-6,

  565. this is what he says,

  566. one thing

  567. I ask from the Lord,

  568. this only

  569. do I seek,

  570. that I may dwell

  571. in the house

  572. of the Lord

  573. all the days

  574. of my life,

  575. to gaze on the beauty

  576. of the Lord,

  577. and to seek Him

  578. in His temple,

  579. for in His day,

  580. for in the day

  581. of trouble,

  582. He will keep me safe

  583. in His dwelling,

  584. He will hide me

  585. in the shelter

  586. of His second tent,

  587. and set me high

  588. upon the rock.

  589. Then my head

  590. will be exalted

  591. about my enemies

  592. who surround me.

  593. So,

  594. at His second tent,

  595. I will sacrifice

  596. with shouts of joy.

  597. Here we see David

  598. delighting

  599. on the beauty

  600. of God.

  601. To not lose heart,

  602. to not give in

  603. into temptation

  604. while we wait

  605. on God,

  606. we must delight

  607. ourselves

  608. in the beauty

  609. of God.

  610. But the question is,

  611. what is the beauty

  612. of God

  613. that He's talking

  614. about here?

  615. I think

  616. the beauty of God

  617. is the truth

  618. of God.

  619. He's a perfection

  620. of God

  621. in all His attributes,

  622. His wisdom,

  623. His power,

  624. His love,

  625. His justice,

  626. and so many

  627. more things

  628. that we can

  629. not name just now.

  630. But you're saying,

  631. like,

  632. what is the difference

  633. between

  634. remembering

  635. who God is

  636. and delighting

  637. in the beauty

  638. of God?

  639. What is the difference

  640. between 4 to 6

  641. compared to 1 to 3?

  642. Well,

  643. I think it's one thing

  644. to remember

  645. who God is.

  646. I think it's one thing

  647. to remember

  648. the truth about God

  649. and to be aware

  650. of who God is.

  651. But it's quite

  652. another different thing

  653. to delight

  654. in that beauty

  655. of who God is.

  656. The word beauty

  657. of verses 4

  658. means delightful

  659. or to be delightful

  660. means to bring

  661. pleasure,

  662. something that brings

  663. pleasure and satisfaction

  664. to our lives.

  665. So,

  666. to be a Christian,

  667. in other words,

  668. it's more than

  669. simply knowing

  670. thoughts about God.

  671. It's more than

  672. just knowing

  673. what the Bible says.

  674. But to be a Christian,

  675. it means

  676. to taste

  677. and see

  678. that God is good.

  679. And not only

  680. to see that God is good,

  681. but to choose

  682. to delight

  683. in His goodness,

  684. to delight

  685. in all the things

  686. that He is.

  687. So,

  688. it is possible

  689. to find pleasure

  690. in God.

  691. Pure,

  692. exhilarating

  693. pleasure

  694. and joy.

  695. When we do that,

  696. when a believer

  697. does that,

  698. he finds himself.

  699. He does not

  700. escape from reality,

  701. but actually

  702. He conquers it

  703. by discovering

  704. a deeper

  705. and greater reality

  706. in which

  707. and by which

  708. He is able

  709. to cope with life

  710. and all its pressures.

  711. He finds,

  712. in fact,

  713. something

  714. larger than life.

  715. And those effects

  716. do not wear off.

  717. Because what?

  718. Because He finds

  719. Himself

  720. that God

  721. is powerful

  722. and majestic.

  723. He chooses

  724. to delight

  725. in Him.

  726. But what is,

  727. if He chooses

  728. to delight

  729. in Him,

  730. what is

  731. delighting in Him

  732. has to do

  733. with confidence?

  734. Why is it

  735. important?

  736. Okay,

  737. yeah,

  738. you're saying,

  739. yeah,

  740. we have to delight

  741. in Him.

  742. Why?

  743. Why is it important

  744. to delight in Him?

  745. Well,

  746. let's check again

  747. verse 5.

  748. Well,

  749. verse 4 says that

  750. why does He want

  751. to delight in Him?

  752. He wants to gauge

  753. the beauty of God.

  754. And then verse 5 says,

  755. why?

  756. Because He says

  757. He wants to be safe

  758. in the day of trouble.

  759. He is delighting

  760. in the beauty of God

  761. even in the day of trouble.

  762. Even where situations

  763. arises

  764. and situations get tough,

  765. He chooses

  766. to delight in Him.

  767. And those times

  768. when we feel

  769. we don't belong,

  770. those times

  771. when we feel

  772. like the situation

  773. is out of control,

  774. those times

  775. when we feel

  776. like seriously bad,

  777. those times

  778. when we are like

  779. hopeless,

  780. David chose

  781. to delight in God

  782. and so we must.

  783. You will tell me,

  784. yeah,

  785. it's easy to say

  786. from a pulpit,

  787. put it into practice,

  788. let's see what you get.

  789. We just got to do it.

  790. David himself

  791. wasn't a perfect person

  792. at all.

  793. His life was always

  794. in trouble.

  795. He was always running away,

  796. being hunted down.

  797. Always doing

  798. good things,

  799. always doing bad things.

  800. But yet still,

  801. he knew

  802. who his maker was.

  803. And he still

  804. decided to delight in Him.

  805. And we see

  806. in verse 6

  807. where this

  808. word is

  809. all delight

  810. and taken.

  811. Verse 6 says that

  812. then my head

  813. would be exulting

  814. about the enemies

  815. who surround me

  816. at his secret tent.

  817. And I will sing.

  818. I will sacrifice

  819. with shout of joys

  820. and I will sing

  821. and make music

  822. to the Lord.

  823. He is able

  824. to walk around

  825. with his head

  826. held high,

  827. singing songs

  828. to the Lord.

  829. He has joy

  830. and this joy

  831. is rooted

  832. in the satisfying

  833. beauty

  834. of God

  835. that will never change.

  836. Before we move

  837. to the next one,

  838. one of the things

  839. I really like

  840. about this part

  841. is that

  842. in verse 4

  843. he asks

  844. one thing

  845. I ask

  846. from the Lord.

  847. The only one

  848. the only one

  849. I do seek

  850. is just one thing

  851. he is seeking

  852. one thing

  853. he is asking.

  854. He is not asking

  855. to be famous.

  856. He is not asking

  857. to be successful.

  858. He is not asking

  859. to be rich

  860. or blessed.

  861. But what he asks

  862. is to dwell

  863. in the house

  864. of the Lord

  865. to gain the beauty

  866. of the Lord.

  867. Because why?

  868. Because his joy

  869. was in God.

  870. And because his joy

  871. was in God

  872. his enemies

  873. couldn't touch him.

  874. Failure

  875. couldn't touch him.

  876. God

  877. kept and said

  878. it is important

  879. to keep in check

  880. what we do desire.

  881. In the case of David

  882. he was deciding

  883. to dwell with the Lord.

  884. I wonder

  885. what we really desire

  886. in our hearts.

  887. Generally

  888. what we desire

  889. in our hearts

  890. reveals

  891. where our confidence is.

  892. Have you ever

  893. heard a person

  894. saying like

  895. if I only get this

  896. I will

  897. finally be happy.

  898. Oh I only

  899. make millions.

  900. Ah finally

  901. I will just

  902. rest and enjoy this.

  903. Oh if I only

  904. get married

  905. I will

  906. do this.

  907. Have you ever

  908. heard that?

  909. I am just

  910. filling the blanks.

  911. But you know this

  912. have you ever

  913. heard this

  914. if I only

  915. so many times

  916. what we seek

  917. reveals

  918. where our confidence is.

  919. For David

  920. he is not

  921. seeking all these things.

  922. The only thing

  923. David is seeking

  924. in verse 4

  925. is like

  926. I want to

  927. dwell with the Lord.

  928. Why?

  929. Because I want

  930. to rejoice

  931. I want to delight

  932. myself into this beauty.

  933. And that's what I want.

  934. He wanted one thing

  935. to delight in the beauty

  936. of God

  937. and compared to

  938. the beauty of God

  939. everything else

  940. is like

  941. it's like

  942. rubbish for him.

  943. Just for a moment

  944. think about it.

  945. Think what your

  946. desires are.

  947. Are your desires

  948. rooted in

  949. satisfaction

  950. to be with God?

  951. Or are you just

  952. rooted in your own

  953. personal comfort?

  954. Do not take me wrong

  955. I'm not saying

  956. personal comfort

  957. is bad.

  958. But what I'm saying

  959. is like

  960. when we replace

  961. all personal comfort

  962. as the goal

  963. for satisfaction

  964. rather than

  965. me for satisfaction

  966. and rejoicing

  967. in God

  968. that becomes

  969. a problem.

  970. But David

  971. come back to David

  972. doesn't only

  973. resolve himself

  974. to remember

  975. who God is

  976. he doesn't only

  977. desire to

  978. delight in God

  979. he does also

  980. resolve

  981. verses 7 to 12

  982. to walk in God

  983. in God's way.

  984. So if we do

  985. want to

  986. wait with confidence

  987. and hope in God

  988. we should

  989. resolve to walk

  990. in God's way.

  991. David trusts

  992. that the Lord

  993. will be merciful

  994. for it.

  995. One of the

  996. repeated ideas

  997. of this section

  998. from 7 to 12

  999. is a constantly

  1000. mention of

  1001. he is deciding

  1002. to seek in God's

  1003. faith.

  1004. Basically

  1005. this is a

  1006. repeated idea

  1007. from verses 4

  1008. and verse 4

  1009. he mentioned

  1010. he wants

  1011. to seek the Lord

  1012. he wants to

  1013. dwell with the Lord

  1014. in verses 8

  1015. he says

  1016. I want to

  1017. seek you

  1018. Lord

  1019. I want to

  1020. seek your

  1021. presence

  1022. I want to

  1023. be in your

  1024. presence

  1025. so he trusts

  1026. that the

  1027. voice that

  1028. shouts and

  1029. sings in him

  1030. sings to him

  1031. and worships

  1032. in verse 6

  1033. can also be

  1034. confident that

  1035. the Lord

  1036. will hear him

  1037. when he

  1038. prays

  1039. in verse 7

  1040. praying is

  1041. one aspect

  1042. of seeking

  1043. the Lord

  1044. what David

  1045. is done

  1046. in verse 4

  1047. seeking him

  1048. in his temple

  1049. he is also

  1050. instructed to

  1051. do

  1052. in verse 8

  1053. okay we are

  1054. seeing all

  1055. of this

  1056. this is what

  1057. David is

  1058. doing

  1059. I know

  1060. you are

  1061. following my

  1062. life

  1063. thinking

  1064. I hope

  1065. you do

  1066. but we are

  1067. seeing all

  1068. the things

  1069. that David

  1070. is doing

  1071. we are

  1072. seeing all

  1073. this great

  1074. but yet

  1075. we see

  1076. from verses

  1077. to

  1078. 7

  1079. till

  1080. 12

  1081. actually

  1082. there seems

  1083. to be a

  1084. conflict

  1085. with David

  1086. in one

  1087. sense

  1088. he do

  1089. trust

  1090. in God

  1091. but in

  1092. another

  1093. sense

  1094. he is

  1095. like

  1096. Lord

  1097. please be

  1098. merciful to

  1099. me

  1100. hear me

  1101. oh

  1102. Lord

  1103. do not

  1104. hide your

  1105. face

  1106. from me

  1107. there is

  1108. this sense

  1109. of

  1110. fighting

  1111. and

  1112. wrestling

  1113. in his

  1114. mind

  1115. why

  1116. because

  1117. as I said

  1118. before

  1119. David was

  1120. still a

  1121. sinner

  1122. David was

  1123. a person

  1124. who was

  1125. a murderer

  1126. at some

  1127. point

  1128. an adulterer

  1129. a liar

  1130. so it's

  1131. so easy

  1132. to imagine

  1133. why David

  1134. would wrestle

  1135. in these

  1136. verses

  1137. with this

  1138. question

  1139. will God

  1140. really forsake

  1141. me

  1142. will God

  1143. have

  1144. hide

  1145. his

  1146. face

  1147. from

  1148. me

  1149. he

  1150. might

  1151. be

  1152. thinking

  1153. like

  1154. I

  1155. want

  1156. to

  1157. gaze

  1158. on

  1159. the

  1160. beauty

  1161. of

  1162. God

  1163. but

  1164. am I

  1165. a sinner

  1166. how

  1167. am I

  1168. going to

  1169. do

  1170. that

  1171. that's

  1172. why

  1173. in

  1174. verse 7

  1175. he says

  1176. please

  1177. Lord

  1178. I

  1179. plead

  1180. for

  1181. mercy

  1182. please

  1183. have

  1184. mercy

  1185. on

  1186. me

  1187. that

  1188. is

  1189. why

  1190. I

  1191. said

  1192. at

  1193. beginning

  1194. this

  1195. from

  1196. 1 to

  1197. 6

  1198. seems

  1199. to

  1200. be

  1201. something

  1202. going

  1203. on

  1204. and

  1205. from

  1206. 7

  1207. to

  1208. 14

  1209. there

  1210. seems

  1211. to

  1212. be

  1213. a

  1214. different

  1215. country

  1216. something

  1217. different

  1218. going

  1219. on

  1220. but

  1221. I

  1222. think

  1223. it's

  1224. all

  1225. just

  1226. matched

  1227. all

  1228. together

  1229. in

  1230. his

  1231. wrestling

  1232. he

  1233. remembers

  1234. what

  1235. God

  1236. has

  1237. asked

  1238. for

  1239. him

  1240. look

  1241. what

  1242. it

  1243. says

  1244. verse

  1245. 8

  1246. my

  1247. heart

  1248. says

  1249. you

  1250. seek

  1251. his

  1252. face

  1253. your

  1254. face

  1255. Lord

  1256. I

  1257. will

  1258. seek

  1259. a

  1260. better

  1261. translation

  1262. from

  1263. verse 8

  1264. would

  1265. say

  1266. to

  1267. my

  1268. heart

  1269. he

  1270. has

  1271. said

  1272. seek

  1273. my

  1274. face

  1275. and

  1276. what

  1277. I

  1278. think

  1279. David

  1280. is

  1281. remembering

  1282. here

  1283. he

  1284. is

  1285. remembering

  1286. that

  1287. at

  1288. some

  1289. point

  1290. at

  1291. one

  1292. point

  1293. God

  1294. asked

  1295. him

  1296. asked

  1297. his

  1298. people

  1299. not

  1300. him

  1301. particularly

  1302. his

  1303. forefathers

  1304. to

  1305. seek

  1306. his

  1307. face

  1308. in

  1309. Deuteronomy

    Deuteronomy 4 chapter mention

  1310. chapter

  1311. 4

  1312. and I

  1313. think

  1314. that

  1315. invitation

  1316. was

  1317. always

  1318. present

  1319. in

  1320. David's

  1321. mind

  1322. he

  1323. knew

  1324. that

  1325. what

  1326. God

  1327. really

  1328. wanted

  1329. from

  1330. his

  1331. people

  1332. was

  1333. to

  1334. seek

  1335. to

  1336. him

  1337. and I

  1338. think

  1339. that's

  1340. what

  1341. he

  1342. keeps

  1343. in

  1344. mind

  1345. in

  1346. this

  1347. situation

  1348. God

  1349. will

  1350. never

  1351. call

  1352. for

  1353. a

  1354. law

  1355. and

  1356. withhold

  1357. his

  1358. own

  1359. so

  1360. he

  1361. knows

  1362. if

  1363. God

  1364. always

  1365. wanted

  1366. to

  1367. be

  1368. seek

  1369. then

  1370. David

  1371. could

  1372. seek

  1373. for

  1374. every

  1375. person

  1376. and

  1377. this

  1378. is

  1379. what

  1380. produces

  1381. profound

  1382. confidence

  1383. to the

  1384. point

  1385. that

  1386. he

  1387. expresses

  1388. verse

  1389. 10

  1390. where

  1391. he

  1392. says

  1393. even

  1394. when

  1395. my

  1396. father

  1397. my

  1398. mother

  1399. would

  1400. forsake

  1401. me

  1402. I

  1403. know

  1404. he

  1405. will

  1406. not

  1407. forsake

  1408. me

  1409. why

  1410. because

  1411. God

  1412. was

  1413. asking

  1414. me

  1415. to

  1416. seek

  1417. him

  1418. before

  1419. and

  1420. why

  1421. because

  1422. I

  1423. know

  1424. he

  1425. will

  1426. be

  1427. there

  1428. for

  1429. me

  1430. I

  1431. think

  1432. what

  1433. he

  1434. I

  1435. think

  1436. he

  1437. picks

  1438. the

  1439. image

  1440. of

  1441. parenthood

  1442. here

  1443. not

  1444. thinking

  1445. his

  1446. parents

  1447. were

  1448. very

  1449. bad

  1450. or

  1451. mean

  1452. people

  1453. but

  1454. I

  1455. think

  1456. he

  1457. just

  1458. used

  1459. it

  1460. as

  1461. a

  1462. reference

  1463. to

  1464. say

  1465. that

  1466. if

  1467. the

  1468. most

  1469. improbable

  1470. thing

  1471. ever

  1472. happened

  1473. even

  1474. if

  1475. the

  1476. most

  1477. improbable

  1478. thing

  1479. ever

  1480. happened

  1481. like

  1482. my

  1483. parents

  1484. that

  1485. changed

  1486. my

  1487. nappies

  1488. or

  1489. changed

  1490. my

  1491. diapers

  1492. nappies

  1493. or

  1494. whatever

  1495. you

  1496. want

  1497. to

  1498. call

  1499. them

  1500. ever

  1501. forsake

  1502. me

  1503. even

  1504. the

  1505. most

  1506. improbable

  1507. happens

  1508. David

  1509. knew

  1510. God

  1511. will

  1512. not

  1513. God

  1514. will

  1515. be

  1516. there

  1517. for

  1518. me

  1519. this

  1520. psalm

  1521. is

  1522. all

  1523. about

  1524. confidence

  1525. whether

  1526. you

  1527. are

  1528. in

  1529. the

  1530. first

  1531. section

  1532. one

  1533. to

  1534. six

  1535. or

  1536. whether

  1537. you

  1538. are

  1539. in

  1540. the

  1541. second

  1542. section

  1543. seven

  1544. to

  1545. fourteen

  1546. there

  1547. is

  1548. a

  1549. confidence

  1550. in

  1551. God

  1552. David

  1553. had

  1554. confidence

  1555. do

  1556. he

  1557. and

  1558. one

  1559. of the

  1560. things

  1561. about

  1562. verse

  1563. 10

  1564. is

  1565. like

  1566. this

  1567. confidence

  1568. expressed

  1569. in

  1570. verse

  1571. 10

  1572. leads

  1573. him

  1574. in

  1575. verses

  1576. 11

  1577. to

  1578. obedience

  1579. teach

  1580. me

  1581. your

  1582. way

  1583. Lord

  1584. lead

  1585. me

  1586. to

  1587. straight

  1588. paths

  1589. because

  1590. of

  1591. my

  1592. oppressors

  1593. when we

  1594. have

  1595. seen

  1596. who

  1597. God

  1598. is

  1599. we

  1600. can

  1601. trust

  1602. him

  1603. when

  1604. we

  1605. trust

  1606. him

  1607. we

  1608. can

  1609. walk

  1610. in

  1611. his

  1612. ways

  1613. when

  1614. we

  1615. walk

  1616. in

  1617. his

  1618. ways

  1619. we

  1620. are

  1621. no

  1622. longer

  1623. afraid

  1624. of

  1625. where

  1626. he

  1627. would

  1628. take

  1629. us

  1630. and

  1631. we

  1632. are

  1633. no

  1634. longer

  1635. afraid

  1636. where

  1637. he

  1638. would

  1639. take

  1640. us

  1641. we

  1642. can

  1643. go

  1644. wherever

  1645. he

  1646. lead

  1647. us

  1648. we

  1649. just

  1650. decide

  1651. to

  1652. follow

  1653. him

  1654. perhaps

  1655. you

  1656. wonder

  1657. why

  1658. can

  1659. I

  1660. know

  1661. be

  1662. obedient

  1663. to

  1664. the

  1665. Lord

  1666. perhaps

  1667. you

  1668. don't

  1669. trust

  1670. him

  1671. properly

  1672. and

  1673. why

  1674. you

  1675. can

  1676. trust

  1677. him

  1678. properly

  1679. perhaps

  1680. you

  1681. don't

  1682. know

  1683. him

  1684. go

  1685. from

  1686. one

  1687. way

  1688. to

  1689. another

  1690. this

  1691. is

  1692. probably

  1693. the last

  1694. few

  1695. minutes

  1696. and

  1697. I'll

  1698. finish

  1699. and

  1700. all

  1701. the

  1702. issues

  1703. that

  1704. we

  1705. face

  1706. generally

  1707. and

  1708. the

  1709. troubles

  1710. is

  1711. that

  1712. rather

  1713. than

  1714. being

  1715. compelled

  1716. as I

  1717. said

  1718. to

  1719. amazing

  1720. the

  1721. beauty

  1722. of

  1723. God

  1724. and

  1725. to

  1726. be

  1727. fascinated

  1728. about

  1729. who

  1730. God

  1731. is

  1732. sometimes

  1733. in

  1734. this

  1735. day

  1736. of

  1737. troubles

  1738. we

  1739. do

  1740. self

  1741. focus

  1742. on

  1743. ourselves

  1744. and

  1745. we

  1746. do

  1747. think

  1748. oh

  1749. there's

  1750. something

  1751. in me

  1752. to

  1753. fix

  1754. it

  1755. we

  1756. always

  1757. want

  1758. to

  1759. fix

  1760. our

  1761. own

  1762. troubles

  1763. and

  1764. that's

  1765. something

  1766. common

  1767. always

  1768. happening

  1769. personally

  1770. than

  1771. me

  1772. like

  1773. you

  1774. remember

  1775. my

  1776. story

  1777. I

  1778. was

  1779. trusting

  1780. in

  1781. God

  1782. but

  1783. what

  1784. had

  1785. in

  1786. my

  1787. hand

  1788. beginning

  1789. of my

  1790. story

  1791. had a

  1792. machete

  1793. with me

  1794. right

  1795. so much

  1796. trusting

  1797. for me

  1798. I

  1799. was

  1800. trusting

  1801. that

  1802. the

  1803. Lord

  1804. will

  1805. keep

  1806. me

  1807. safe

  1808. but

  1809. in

  1810. one

  1811. of

  1812. my

  1813. hands

  1814. I

  1815. was

  1816. trying to

  1817. solve

  1818. the problem

  1819. on my

  1820. own

  1821. what

  1822. was

  1823. the way

  1824. to solve

  1825. the problem

  1826. on my

  1827. own

  1828. having

  1829. a

  1830. machete

  1831. next

  1832. to

  1833. me

  1834. and

  1835. in

  1836. so

  1837. many

  1838. ways

  1839. when it

  1840. comes

  1841. to

  1842. trusting

  1843. we

  1844. are

  1845. kind

  1846. of

  1847. like

  1848. that

  1849. in

  1850. one

  1851. way

  1852. we

  1853. do

  1854. want

  1855. to

  1856. wait

  1857. and

  1858. trust

  1859. in

  1860. God

  1861. but

  1862. in

  1863. the

  1864. other

  1865. way

  1866. this

  1867. is

  1868. a

  1869. better

  1870. way

  1871. to

  1872. solve

  1873. it

  1874. let's

  1875. do

  1876. it

  1877. that

  1878. way

  1879. and

  1880. it's

  1881. in

  1882. this

  1883. situation

  1884. when we

  1885. do

  1886. that

  1887. that

  1888. we

  1889. become

  1890. less

  1891. focused

  1892. on

  1893. God

  1894. and

  1895. more

  1896. focused

  1897. on

  1898. ourselves

  1899. and

  1900. we

  1901. lose

  1902. the

  1903. fourth

  1904. perspective

  1905. of the

  1906. situation

  1907. and God

  1908. become

  1909. so

  1910. small

  1911. for

  1912. us

  1913. and

  1914. the

  1915. situations

  1916. we

  1917. are

  1918. facing

  1919. because

  1920. even

  1921. bigger

  1922. so

  1923. what

  1924. has

  1925. David

  1926. done

  1927. in

  1928. order

  1929. to

  1930. wait

  1931. for

  1932. God

  1933. three

  1934. main

  1935. things

  1936. he

  1937. decided

  1938. to

  1939. remember

  1940. who

  1941. God

  1942. is

  1943. he

  1944. decided

  1945. to

  1946. delight

  1947. in

  1948. who

  1949. God

  1950. is

  1951. and

  1952. he

  1953. decided

  1954. to

  1955. follow

  1956. and

  1957. obey

  1958. God's

  1959. way

  1960. but

  1961. one

  1962. of

  1963. the

  1964. things

  1965. that

  1966. you

  1967. can

  1968. see

  1969. throughout

  1970. this

  1971. passage

  1972. as

  1973. well

  1974. is

  1975. that

  1976. there

  1977. is

  1978. a

  1979. constant

  1980. mention

  1981. of

  1982. the

  1983. word

  1984. temple

  1985. tabernacle

  1986. house

  1987. of

  1988. God

  1989. throughout

  1990. this

  1991. passage

  1992. it's

  1993. something

  1994. very

  1995. compelling

  1996. as I

  1997. said

  1998. chapter

  1999. 26

  2000. chapter

  2001. 27

  2002. so

  2003. how

  2004. can

  2005. God

  2006. how

  2007. can

  2008. David

  2009. have

  2010. the

  2011. confidence

  2012. that

  2013. God

  2014. will

  2015. rescue

  2016. him

  2017. it

  2018. seems

  2019. like

  2020. the

  2021. answer

  2022. for

  2023. him

  2024. straight

  2025. is

  2026. like

  2027. he

  2028. goes

  2029. to

  2030. the

  2031. temple

  2032. he

  2033. goes

  2034. to

  2035. the

  2036. temple

  2037. but

  2038. one

  2039. of

  2040. the

  2041. things

  2042. we

  2043. know

  2044. because

  2045. of

  2046. the

  2047. time

  2048. that

  2049. David

  2050. wasn't

  2051. the

  2052. one

  2053. who

  2054. built

  2055. the

  2056. temple

  2057. he

  2058. was

  2059. his

  2060. son

  2061. the

  2062. one

  2063. who

  2064. built

  2065. the

  2066. temple

  2067. and

  2068. one

  2069. of

  2070. the

  2071. things

  2072. that

  2073. David

  2074. is

  2075. saying

  2076. constantly

  2077. he

  2078. wants

  2079. to

  2080. be

  2081. at

  2082. the

  2083. temple

  2084. he

  2085. wants

  2086. to

  2087. go

  2088. and

  2089. gaze

  2090. in

  2091. the

  2092. temple

  2093. of

  2094. God

  2095. I

  2096. wonder

  2097. what

  2098. is

  2099. he

  2100. meaning

  2101. by

  2102. it

  2103. wouldn't

  2104. it

  2105. be

  2106. that

  2107. he

  2108. is

  2109. not

  2110. actually

  2111. meaning

  2112. a

  2113. physical

  2114. temple

  2115. but

  2116. he

  2117. is

  2118. meaning

  2119. the

  2120. place

  2121. where

  2122. God

  2123. dwells

  2124. which

  2125. at

  2126. the

  2127. time

  2128. could

  2129. be

  2130. the

  2131. tabernacle

  2132. which

  2133. was a

  2134. foreshadow

  2135. of

  2136. the

  2137. war

  2138. once

  2139. became

  2140. flesh

  2141. of

  2142. the

  2143. war

  2144. that

  2145. chapter

  2146. John

  2147. verse

  2148. 14

  2149. says

  2150. it

  2151. became

  2152. flesh

  2153. and

  2154. dwell

  2155. among

  2156. us

  2157. or

  2158. it's

  2159. better

  2160. translated

  2161. from

  2162. the

  2163. Greek

  2164. and

  2165. the

  2166. one

  2167. who

  2168. put

  2169. his

  2170. tabernacle

  2171. among

  2172. us

  2173. it

  2174. is

  2175. funny

  2176. when

  2177. David

  2178. is

  2179. talking

  2180. about

  2181. trust

  2182. he

  2183. says

  2184. I

  2185. want

  2186. to

  2187. go

  2188. to

  2189. the

  2190. temple

  2191. I

  2192. want

  2193. to

  2194. be

  2195. in

  2196. a

  2197. temple

  2198. I

  2199. want

  2200. to

  2201. dwell

  2202. in

  2203. the

  2204. temple

  2205. and

  2206. we

  2207. put

  2208. that

  2209. in

  2210. context

  2211. I

  2212. do

  2213. think

  2214. that

  2215. temple

  2216. for

  2217. ourselves

  2218. could be

  2219. Jesus

  2220. the real

  2221. temple

  2222. the real

  2223. dwelling place

  2224. where God

  2225. lives

  2226. the place

  2227. where mercy

  2228. and justice

  2229. leads

  2230. why is

  2231. David

  2232. always

  2233. confident

  2234. that God

  2235. will rescue

  2236. him

  2237. why is

  2238. David

  2239. always

  2240. confident

  2241. that God

  2242. will be

  2243. there for

  2244. him

  2245. because

  2246. he

  2247. was

  2248. hoping

  2249. for

  2250. his

  2251. Messiah

  2252. Jesus

  2253. why

  2254. can

  2255. we

  2256. have

  2257. confidence

  2258. that

  2259. God

  2260. will

  2261. be

  2262. there

  2263. for

  2264. us

  2265. because

  2266. that's

  2267. what

  2268. his

  2269. son

  2270. Jesus

  2271. Christ

  2272. has

  2273. said

  2274. to

  2275. us

  2276. he

  2277. is

  2278. Jesus

  2279. the

  2280. dwelling

  2281. place

  2282. from

  2283. God

  2284. on

  2285. earth

  2286. he

  2287. was

  2288. he

  2289. is

  2290. and

  2291. he

  2292. will

  2293. be

  2294. he

  2295. is

  2296. the

  2297. new

  2298. temple

  2299. that

  2300. wasn't

  2301. built

  2302. from

  2303. from

  2304. David

  2305. he

  2306. is

  2307. a

  2308. better

  2309. temple

  2310. he

  2311. is

  2312. the

  2313. only

  2314. temple

  2315. the

  2316. one

  2317. we

  2318. can

  2319. trust

  2320. so

  2321. how do

  2322. I

  2323. end

  2324. this

  2325. son

  2326. David

  2327. seeks

  2328. for

  2329. the

  2330. temple

  2331. the

  2332. dwelling

  2333. place

  2334. for

  2335. God

  2336. where

  2337. he

  2338. could

  2339. find

  2340. mercy

  2341. in

  2342. the

  2343. new

  2344. testament

  2345. that

  2346. is

  2347. Jesus

  2348. in

  2349. whom

  2350. we

  2351. can

  2352. gaze

  2353. on

  2354. the

  2355. beauty

  2356. of

  2357. God

  2358. David

  2359. knew

  2360. that

  2361. God

  2362. will

  2363. not

  2364. forsake

  2365. him

  2366. in

  2367. the

  2368. same

  2369. way

  2370. if

  2371. we

  2372. do

  2373. believe

  2374. Jesus

  2375. he

  2376. has

  2377. promised

  2378. that

  2379. he

  2380. will

  2381. never

  2382. forsake

  2383. us

  2384. can

  2385. we

  2386. face

  2387. difficult

  2388. times

  2389. can

  2390. we

  2391. face

  2392. time

  2393. troubles

  2394. can

  2395. we

  2396. go

  2397. for

  2398. difficult

  2399. times

  2400. in

  2401. our

  2402. lives

  2403. yes

  2404. we

  2405. can

  2406. why

  2407. because

  2408. we

  2409. got

  2410. Jesus

  2411. done

  2412. this

  2413. you
