  1. Amen. Thanks so much, Gary, for teaching us that song.

  2. As he mentioned, we're hoping it really dovetails well with this series that we started last week in this letter of Galatians.

  3. So if you've got a Bible, then let me invite you to turn there now.

  4. If you don't have a Bible, you can grab on on the pews or you can scan there, scroll there on your phone.

  5. And we're in at Galatians chapter 1, verses 11 to 24 this morning.

    Galatians 1:11–24

  6. Here's why this passage should make us sit up and take notice.

  7. This here is quite possibly the most remarkable transformation in the life of a human being that there has ever been.

  8. Here's the headline that sent shockwaves through the religious world of the first century.

  9. Here's the jaw-dropping news that was doing the rounds in Jerusalem.

  10. Here is your extra, extra read all about it moment.

  11. That's all about the stunning U-turn that nobody saw coming.

  12. And you'll see this headline in the words that are in the speech marks at verse 12.

  13. Do you see it there?

  14. Here's the headline.

  15. This is Paul's story right here of how pre-Jesus, he was a bigot, he was a fanatic,

  16. who was both wholehearted in his devotion to Judaism and in his persecution of the church of Jesus Christ.

  17. And this is about how Jesus changed his life and sent him in a completely new direction.

  18. But this is about how Jesus changed his life and sent him in a completely new direction.

  19. But this is no autobiography here.

  20. Here's what he's aiming at.

  21. You're taking notes, here's the note, okay?

  22. The big reason why he's writing this is really so that we know that we can trust his gospel.

  23. He wants us to know, he wants the Galatians to know that we can trust his gospel.

  24. If you were here last week, you'll remember the reason Paul is writing to these Christians

  25. who are in this region of Galatia.

  26. Try to put it in red there, okay, so you can see it.

  27. He's writing because certain people have infiltrated the churches there and their intent on undermining Paul and his gospel.

  28. If you remember last week, we thought about Paul's gospel is the one, the message that's totally centered on a totally sufficient Jesus.

  29. Say that again.

  30. It's totally centered on a totally sufficient Jesus.

  31. Someone becomes a Christian, we thought about this last week, by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus alone.

  32. The big headline from last week's sermon was that Jesus plus nothing equals everything.

  33. Jesus plus nothing equals everything.

  34. And these Paul's teachers are seeking to undermine Paul's message.

  35. Now, come with me to the text if we want to just get a run up from last week.

  36. See the third word that he uses there at verse 1.

  37. Paul, an apostle.

  38. And we thought last week about how in using that word, he's telling us that he's someone who's received his message from Jesus.

  39. He's not received it secondhand.

  40. He's not received it hearsay.

  41. He's received it from Jesus himself.

  42. We thought last week that your source really matters.

  43. Remember this?

  44. In our world of AI, in our world of deep fakes, in our world of fact checking, where you can find anything online.

  45. Reliability is absolutely everything.

  46. To be an apostle, Paul writes that word.

  47. Here's what he's saying.

  48. I got my message straight from the horse's mouth.

  49. But these false teachers are saying to the Galatians, are you sure that you can trust him?

  50. Are you sure that you can trust it?

  51. Is it not just another conspiracy theory?

  52. Life is full of conspiracy theorists.

  53. Again, you look hard enough online, you will find anything out there.

  54. History is full of conspiracy theories.

  55. Is this a classic example of what Mark Twain said?

  56. That a lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth has even put its boots on.

  57. And of course, the irony of that is that many believe that Mark Twain wasn't the one that actually said it,

  58. which I think makes the point wonderfully.

  59. But a lie gets out there.

  60. A lie causes havoc.

  61. And is Paul's message just another example of that?

  62. The guy's just a few degrees off.

  63. Just missed the mark.

  64. Just by a few inches.

  65. So what Paul is doing here, his intention is to defend his gospel.

  66. And that's why he's telling his story.

  67. He's defending his gospel.

  68. See him right at verse 11.

  69. I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached,

  70. this is the one that they heard, is not of human origin.

  71. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it.

  72. Rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.

  73. So everything he's about to say is to prove that thesis.

  74. So we're going to see him point to two big reasons.

  75. Why?

  76. Why?

  77. Friends, why they?

  78. Why us?

  79. Why we can trust this message?

  80. What we're going to do is see these two things that he says,

  81. and then we're really going to think about two quickfire things that we can take from this.

  82. Are you up for it?

  83. Here's the first thing that he says.

  84. While you can trust his gospel.

  85. Number one, he says, trust the transformation.

  86. I think Paul's big point is this.

  87. What else explains the total transformation of his life

  88. other than the truth of his gospel?

  89. Now see him speak so honestly and vulnerably,

  90. and with great humility from verse 13.

  91. Look at it in the text.

  92. I find this so incredibly refreshing and instructive.

  93. Somebody that's up for telling you about all the mistakes they made in life?

  94. About how they got it wrong?

  95. I was on holiday a few months ago,

  96. reading Michael Parkinson's autobiography,

  97. rock and roll in my life, okay?

  98. Reading this guy's autobiography.

  99. The old BBC chat show host.

  100. And his son writes the foreword.

  101. About his dad.

  102. And he says this.

  103. In the foreword.

  104. This got me.

  105. He said, of course,

  106. every autobiography is written through the unreliable filter

  107. of personal remembrance and self-justification.

  108. Friends, how many autobiographies that you see in Waterstones and Blackwells

  109. that people release,

  110. the subtitle of those autobiographies is effectively,

  111. here's why I did what I did.

  112. And here's why I was right in doing what I did.

  113. If you're thinking of a former Scottish First Minister

  114. who's just released a book,

  115. you said that, not me, okay?

  116. Sorry, not sorry.

  117. But it's true, isn't it, friends?

  118. If we were writing a story about our lives,

  119. it would be a self-justification one.

  120. Paul is completely the opposite.

  121. What comes naturally to us is to play the defence.

  122. What comes naturally to Paul is to tell you

  123. every single way that he got it wrong in life

  124. and how Jesus has totally given him life and transformed it.

  125. And it's just incredibly refreshing.

  126. Whoever you are here today,

  127. whatever you think about the God of the Bible,

  128. what do you make of that?

  129. Now, come with me.

  130. See this in the text.

  131. He's telling us about his old way of life.

  132. See it there.

  133. What was his chief ambition from verse 13?

  134. See his choice of verb there.

  135. Again, attention to detail in the text, really important.

  136. What did he want to do to the church?

  137. He didn't want to debate the Christians.

  138. He did not want to oppose the Christians.

  139. What's the word in the text?

  140. He wanted to destroy the church.

  141. Because in his mind, in his former way of life,

  142. these Christians were making a mockery of everything

  143. that he and his people stood for.

  144. He was like one of those Daleks in Doctor Who.

  145. Exterminate, exterminate.

  146. In fact, the first time you meet him in the Bible

  147. is at the end of Acts 7.

  148. And he's holding the coat of an angry mob

  149. and he's egging people on

  150. in the stoning to death of the first Christian martyr,

  151. a man named Stephen.

  152. So he wants to destroy the church.

  153. It's not just going on up there.

  154. He's active in it, you see?

  155. But a parallel track in Paul's life,

  156. running alongside that desire to destroy the church,

  157. do you see it as well,

  158. was a desire to excel in Judaism.

  159. What does he tell us?

  160. That he tells us he was advancing

  161. beyond many of his peers.

  162. He tells us that he was extremely zealous

  163. for the traditions of his fathers.

  164. And can I just pause for a minute

  165. and say it's really worth noting that word zeal.

  166. We're much more likely to talk about,

  167. I think, being passionate today.

  168. But zeal is a word that the Bible uses

  169. and encourages us to be as Christians.

  170. People who are zealous.

  171. It's becoming a big prayer of mine.

  172. Lord, I realize I get excited about all the wrong things.

  173. Would you make me zealous for your name

  174. and your glory and your gospel

  175. and seeing my life in the contours of that?

  176. Here's the thing though.

  177. Friends, we can be zealous about all the wrong things.

  178. Political causes, career, grades,

  179. even church traditions.

  180. And so maybe here's a word in season

  181. for us who are here today,

  182. who are starting new seasons.

  183. Whether we're going to university,

  184. whether we're just coming back to university,

  185. whether we're going on to a new job,

  186. whether we're hitting a new season post-retirement,

  187. after work, whatever it is.

  188. Friends, life will present you with all sorts of things

  189. that are worth being passionate about.

  190. It will say, here's all sorts of things

  191. that you can spend your life pursuing.

  192. But this tells you that you can be zealous

  193. about all the wrong things.

  194. Be known as someone who's zealous first

  195. for the gospel.

  196. Wouldn't that be a wonderful life ambition?

  197. Another way to frame the question

  198. is that what are you known for?

  199. I've learned that with kids, my kids.

  200. I can teach them all sorts of things,

  201. but do you know what they'll learn really from me?

  202. They'll learn the thing that I'm excited about in life.

  203. Are you known as someone who is first and foremost

  204. zealous for the gospel?

  205. Paul says, I was zealous,

  206. but I was zealous in the wrong direction.

  207. It's almost like he's one of those wind-up toys

  208. that was really zealous this way,

  209. and God's just turned him and said,

  210. I don't want you to be unzealous, as it were.

  211. I just want you to be zealous about the gospel.

  212. Here's the thing.

  213. If the careers teacher at school had asked Paul

  214. what he wanted to be when he grows up,

  215. there's no debate what Paul would have said.

  216. He wants to be a Pharisee,

  217. and he wants to be the best.

  218. He's not just the next big thing.

  219. He's not just the poster boy of Judaism.

  220. He is on the fast-track program to massive things.

  221. Paul wants to plant his flag on the world.

  222. Recognition, honor, status.

  223. That was the future that Paul had for himself,

  224. and yet see that while Paul had one plan for his life,

  225. God had another one.

  226. See him begin to talk about his new way of life.

  227. Verse 15.

  228. See Paul talk about his calling.

  229. Paul encounters the risen Jesus

  230. on the way to Damascus in Acts 9,

  231. where he was going fully intent on causing carnage,

  232. and in that moment, everything changed

  233. when he meets the risen Jesus.

  234. This is where he's got his gospel from.

  235. God had this plan in place for Paul.

  236. Do you see it in the text from verse 15?

  237. God did this plan in place for Paul before he was even born.

  238. Now, I've done that with all of my kids.

  239. We've given them names.

  240. You know them from when they were in their mother's womb.

  241. You have plans for them.

  242. You have ambitions.

  243. You have prayers,

  244. things that you'd long for them to be true when they grow up.

  245. But do you know what?

  246. You've got no control over it.

  247. How different then this God

  248. who has known Paul

  249. and who has called him,

  250. who set apart him for this work

  251. before he was even in his mother's womb.

  252. How about that for a thought?

  253. Sure story too,

  254. if you're a Christian here today,

  255. we're not Paul.

  256. We are not apostles.

  257. But we have Paul's God.

  258. God thought of you and I

  259. way before you and I were thinking of him.

  260. You know,

  261. in our individualistic world,

  262. it can be easy to think

  263. that becoming a Christian

  264. is about taking Jesus into our lives.

  265. Like an app that we download onto our phone.

  266. But the truth that this tells us

  267. is that by grace,

  268. Jesus has taken us into his.

  269. And Paul here is using the language of Jeremiah before him.

  270. Notice the way verse 16 is worded.

  271. God revealed his son.

  272. And we'd almost expect him to say,

  273. to me?

  274. Yeah?

  275. But he says,

  276. God revealed his son in me.

  277. He's telling us just how deeply impacted

  278. and gripped by this message

  279. he has been inwardly.

  280. And again,

  281. let me just say,

  282. friends,

  283. I recognize that there are many of us here today

  284. who are thinking through this Christian faith.

  285. And thank you so much for coming.

  286. We love that you're here.

  287. You're in the best place to do that.

  288. To come to church,

  289. to think about these things.

  290. But can I just say that

  291. sitting in church or saying words

  292. may well be a great place to start.

  293. Singing hymns,

  294. singing truths.

  295. But that isn't the thing

  296. that makes you a Christian.

  297. In the same way that sitting in a garage

  298. doesn't make you a car.

  299. Friends, we've got to put our faith in this Jesus.

  300. But Paul is saying that

  301. that gripping has led him

  302. to see his life

  303. in completely different ways.

  304. This thing has gripped him inwardly.

  305. The question you've got to ask yourselves

  306. is Jesus,

  307. who he says he is?

  308. Has this message gripped you inwardly?

  309. Inwardly.

  310. Paul begins talking about

  311. his new commission in life.

  312. Do you see it?

  313. Jesus has given him

  314. a completely new purpose.

  315. That is to take the gospel message

  316. to the Gentiles.

  317. And that word just means

  318. the non-Jewish people of the world.

  319. Here's the thing, friends.

  320. We might be in tiny,

  321. tiny little font

  322. in that word Gentiles here.

  323. But look hard enough

  324. and you'll see yourself.

  325. We're in this verse.

  326. God's plan

  327. to bless the nations

  328. of the world.

  329. We're here.

  330. But here's the thing,

  331. riddle me this.

  332. With all Paul's credentials,

  333. his training,

  334. his background,

  335. his CV,

  336. would it make

  337. more sense,

  338. do you not think,

  339. to send him as the missionary?

  340. Not to the Gentiles,

  341. but to the Jews.

  342. You ever thought about that?

  343. Is he like,

  344. poor football manager

  345. won't say any names,

  346. who's playing someone

  347. out of position.

  348. Is that this God?

  349. Would Paul not be

  350. the perfect horse

  351. for the Jewish course?

  352. Here's what I think.

  353. It's just a thought.

  354. Haven't thought about this

  355. for a long time, friends.

  356. I think,

  357. and Kate,

  358. it was so helpful

  359. reminding me of this

  360. on Wednesday,

  361. I think this is just

  362. how God works.

  363. His wisdom

  364. baffles human wisdom.

  365. His logic

  366. is so far above

  367. our logic.

  368. He does things.

  369. He uses

  370. the unexpected.

  371. He uses the person

  372. who's,

  373. in a sense,

  374. got not a lot

  375. to offer

  376. to leave us

  377. in no doubt

  378. that God is God

  379. and all glory

  380. goes to him.

  381. And so,

  382. don't doubt

  383. this morning

  384. that God has plans

  385. and purposes

  386. for where he's put you.

  387. If you're thinking,

  388. what on earth

  389. am I doing here?

  390. Friends,

  391. his logic

  392. is so much

  393. greater than

  394. our logic.

  395. So,

  396. number one reason

  397. why you should

  398. trust my gospel,

  399. says Paul,

  400. is trust the transformation.

  401. And really quickly,

  402. here's the second thing

  403. Paul says,

  404. just really simply

  405. trust the timeline.

  406. See the end

  407. of verse 17.

  408. After meeting Jesus,

  409. Paul tells us

  410. that he soon

  411. went into Arabia.

  412. Now,

  413. what was he doing

  414. there?

  415. All sorts of

  416. theories

  417. as to what

  418. Paul was doing,

  419. but I think

  420. what seems likely

  421. is that he just

  422. retreats,

  423. which means

  424. that he goes away

  425. for a time of

  426. solitude

  427. and reflection.

  428. Paul,

  429. Jesus has just

  430. turned Paul's world

  431. completely upside down,

  432. inside out,

  433. back to front.

  434. He's got to get away

  435. just to think

  436. about everything

  437. that's gone on.

  438. And yet,

  439. after three years,

  440. verse 18,

  441. he goes up

  442. to Jerusalem,

  443. where he spends

  444. 15 days

  445. with Peter.

  446. Now,

  447. I would have loved

  448. to have been a fly

  449. on the wall

  450. in that conversation.

  451. Clearly,

  452. they're not talking

  453. about the weather

  454. when they get together,

  455. but here's the point

  456. of all of this.

  457. If the accusation

  458. against Paul

  459. was that he

  460. nicked his gospel

  461. from others,

  462. but a four

  463. attempting to

  464. plagiarize it

  465. and pass it off

  466. as his own,

  467. 15 days.

  468. 15 days.

  469. Why is that significant?

  470. Well,

  471. they say it takes

  472. 20,000

  473. to 25,000

  474. hours

  475. to truly

  476. master a subject.

  477. Have you heard

  478. of that one?

  479. 20,000

  480. to 25,000

  481. hours

  482. to truly

  483. master a subject.

  484. Even to write

  485. a dissertation,

  486. it takes you students,

  487. what,

  488. 18 months

  489. to do that?

  490. No way

  491. was 15 days

  492. long enough

  493. for Peter

  494. to give Paul

  495. a crash course

  496. in the gospel

  497. and the whole

  498. framework of doctrinal

  499. thinking that goes

  500. around it.

  501. Can he do that

  502. in 15 days?

  503. And yet,

  504. 15 days

  505. is long enough

  506. for both Peter

  507. and Paul

  508. to realize

  509. that they were

  510. preaching

  511. the same gospel.

  512. gospel.

  513. Not in a great

  514. minds think

  515. alike

  516. kind of way,

  517. not in a

  518. what a lovely

  519. coincidence

  520. kind of way.

  521. No,

  522. this is

  523. same source

  524. equals

  525. same gospel.

  526. And this

  527. takes me

  528. to root two

  529. really quick

  530. fire bits

  531. of application

  532. for us.

  533. Here's number

  534. one.

  535. Friends,

  536. number one,

  537. don't doubt

  538. the reliability

  539. of the gospel.

  540. As we have it

  541. in the Bible,

  542. don't doubt

  543. the reliability

  544. of the gospel.

  545. I love,

  546. and you'll notice

  547. I've gone at pains

  548. to point out

  549. all the little

  550. details there.

  551. I love all the

  552. details that we

  553. get here.

  554. 15 days,

  555. Arabia,

  556. Peter,

  557. so we get

  558. the timeline,

  559. we get the places,

  560. we get the people.

  561. Do you know

  562. I love that?

  563. That the Bible

  564. isn't full of people

  565. speaking in riddles

  566. wrapped in myths

  567. presented in enigmas.

  568. It is real places,

  569. real people,

  570. real history.

  571. I love how

  572. earthy

  573. a book

  574. the Bible

  575. is.

  576. What are these

  577. false teachers

  578. trying to do

  579. here with Paul?

  580. They're trying to

  581. drive a wedge

  582. between what

  583. he is saying

  584. and what God

  585. is saying.

  586. To relegate

  587. him from

  588. primary source

  589. to secondary

  590. source.

  591. From

  592. authoritative

  593. teaching

  594. to opinion

  595. peace.

  596. Friends,

  597. what we can

  598. take from this

  599. today,

  600. all these little

  601. details,

  602. is really

  603. simply this.

  604. The gospel

  605. that has

  606. come to us

  607. via Paul

  608. all those

  609. years ago

  610. is legit.

  611. And I think

  612. that's the

  613. primary purpose

  614. of him doing

  615. this.

  616. You can

  617. trust my

  618. gospel.

  619. And here's

  620. number two.

  621. Friends,

  622. don't underestimate

  623. the power

  624. of your

  625. story.

  626. If you're a

  627. Christian here

  628. this morning,

  629. then you have

  630. a wonderful

  631. story to

  632. tell.

  633. It might

  634. not be

  635. dramatic,

  636. but make

  637. no mistake

  638. that every

  639. single

  640. conversion

  641. is a

  642. miracle.

  643. For do

  644. you not

  645. love the

  646. subtle yet

  647. profound

  648. way that

  649. Paul has

  650. crafted

  651. verse 24?

  652. When we

  653. think about

  654. the story

  655. that we're

  656. telling,

  657. he says,

  658. not that

  659. people praised

  660. Paul because

  661. of God.

  662. Paul's not

  663. interested in

  664. man's praise.

  665. What's he

  666. writing?

  667. People praised

  668. God because

  669. of me.

  670. That matter,

  671. order,

  672. really matters.

  673. People praised

  674. God because

  675. of me.

  676. Is that not

  677. freeing to

  678. know when we

  679. share our

  680. story that it

  681. really isn't

  682. about us?

  683. Because when

  684. it's all about

  685. Jesus,

  686. friends,

  687. the pressure's

  688. off.

  689. We can

  690. talk about

  691. our mistakes

  692. when we

  693. recognise that

  694. it's all

  695. about Jesus.

  696. We can

  697. know the

  698. freedom of

  699. talking about

  700. struggles when

  701. we know that

  702. it's all about

  703. Jesus.

  704. Because Jesus

  705. is all

  706. sufficient.

  707. Friends,

  708. you've got a

  709. story to

  710. tell.

  711. A story that's

  712. all about

  713. him.

  714. How many of

  715. us became

  716. Christians through

  717. the personal

  718. story of a

  719. friend?

  720. I'd imagine

  721. it's probably

  722. about 90%

  723. of us,

  724. right?

  725. Couple that

  726. with the

  727. fact that

  728. according to

  729. the recent

  730. stats in

  731. the quiet

  732. revival paper

  733. that's just

  734. been produced,

  735. that 34%,

  736. that's over

  737. one in three

  738. non-church-going

  739. 18 to 24

  740. year olds,

  741. albeit in

  742. England and

  743. Wales,

  744. say that they

  745. would attend

  746. church if

  747. invited by a

  748. friend.

  749. See the

  750. combination of

  751. the two of

  752. those things.

  753. Can I suggest

  754. that there's

  755. never been a

  756. better time

  757. for us to

  758. tell our

  759. story?

  760. Friends,

  761. don't underestimate

  762. what God can

  763. do through the

  764. simple stories

  765. that show that

  766. you and I

  767. are wholly

  768. and joyfully,

  769. totally dependent

  770. on Jesus.

  771. Really simple

  772. lives that leave

  773. people asking,

  774. how on earth

  775. do you explain

  776. that?

  777. I'll just tell you

  778. something that

  779. happened to me

  780. recently and this

  781. passage made

  782. me think of

  783. it.

  784. Just as we

  785. close, you

  786. know, Alex

  787. and I had

  788. dinner with my

  789. friend Class

  790. and his wife

  791. Beth a few

  792. weeks back.

  793. They used to

  794. be part of

  795. this church

  796. family about

  797. 10, over

  798. 10 years ago

  799. and they moved

  800. out to

  801. Wallyford and

  802. are now part

  803. of Wallyford

  804. Community Church.

  805. When I first

  806. met Class

  807. in this church,

  808. he wasn't a

  809. Christian.

  810. Respectful, I

  811. think, but

  812. sceptical.

  813. Had a lot of

  814. questions.

  815. And all of

  816. our chat used

  817. to be about

  818. career, houses

  819. and stakes.

  820. Loved his

  821. stake.

  822. I love my

  823. stake.

  824. We always

  825. used to talk

  826. about stakes.

  827. He becomes

  828. a Christian.

  829. Long story

  830. short, when I

  831. saw him a

  832. few weeks

  833. ago, his

  834. plate is

  835. full, right?

  836. We, full of

  837. career, pressures

  838. at work, full of

  839. kids and all the

  840. things that are

  841. going on there.

  842. all the things

  843. that we could

  844. have talked

  845. about.

  846. All he wanted

  847. to talk about

  848. was the

  849. gospel.

  850. And his

  851. desire to

  852. witness at

  853. work.

  854. And his

  855. concern for a

  856. friend.

  857. And his

  858. desire to be a

  859. good and godly

  860. dad who loved

  861. his kids and

  862. brought them up

  863. in the faith.

  864. And his

  865. church family,

  866. about how God

  867. is at work

  868. there and how

  869. God is providing

  870. miraculously for

  871. them.

  872. And all the

  873. people that

  874. are coming

  875. in from the

  876. outside, the

  877. impact they

  878. want to make

  879. on the

  880. community.

  881. And see at a

  882. time when I

  883. was feeling a

  884. bit flat, wow,

  885. that was just

  886. what I needed.

  887. And here's what

  888. I thought as I

  889. looked at him and

  890. as I listened to

  891. him.

  892. And I thought

  893. about the class

  894. that I first

  895. knew ten years

  896. ago.

  897. Only the

  898. gospel, as

  899. through it Jesus

  900. grips the

  901. lives of people

  902. deep down

  903. inwardly through

  904. the Spirit.

  905. Only God

  906. could do that.

  907. What else

  908. explains it?

  909. The gospel that

  910. came to Paul and

  911. transformed Paul and

  912. has preached to the

  913. Gentiles, went to

  914. the nations, has

  915. come to us.

  916. How else do you

  917. explain it?

  918. I'll tell you how

  919. you explain it.

  920. This gospel is

  921. legit.

  922. Father, we

  923. simply pray this

  924. morning, as your

  925. word continues to

  926. work in our

  927. lives, we pray

  928. Lord that what we

  929. see not, you

  930. would show us.

  931. Father, what we

  932. have not, you

  933. would give us.

  934. And what we are

  935. not, you would

  936. make us.

  937. Father, thank you

  938. for your love

  939. for us.

  940. And we thank you

  941. that we can trust

  942. this gospel that

  943. has come to us.

  944. Father, we thank you

  945. that you are the

  946. God who is in the

  947. business through the

  948. gospel, through the

  949. Lord Jesus, through

  950. your spirit of giving

  951. life.

  952. And so Lord, I pray

  953. that you would just

  954. be with us as we

  955. finish our time

  956. together.

  957. Lord, that these

  958. truths really would

  959. grip us inwardly.

  960. And so Father, we

  961. thank you for your

  962. grace to us and we

  963. pray all of these

  964. things in Jesus'

  965. name.

  966. Amen.
