  1. Excellent. Well, folks, Galatians chapter 3, as we get back into this series this morning,

    Galatians 3 chapter mention

  2. having had a little break last week. It's great to think about last week, wasn't it? Jesus saying that

  3. he is the way, the truth, and the life, and that reminder to be a church that's driven by that zeal

  4. to reach lost people with the good news of Jesus. But we're back in this morning at Galatians chapter

    Galatians 3 chapter mention

  5. 3. So come with me to verse 15. And maybe to get us started, I wonder if you've ever heard the joke

  6. about Michael O'Leary, the owner of Ryanair. He walks into a pub in Dublin one evening and he asks

  7. for a drink. And the barman nods, goes to the till and says, that'll be 65 pence, please.

  8. Wow, that's cheap, says Michael O'Leary. Ah, says the barman, but that's just the price for the drink.

  9. You'll be wanting a glass as well. And back to the till he goes. Ryanair is the masters of the

  10. hidden terms and conditions, the changing terms and conditions. What is it we'd say today? Someone

  11. has moved the goalposts. You know that phrase? Have you ever used it? The terms have changed.

  12. What's going on? Where can we stand? What's true in life? Friends, here's the wonderful thing that

  13. we can be strengthened by from this passage today. And it's that the God of the Bible is a God of

  14. wonderful consistency. There's no shadow of change due to him. And if you're in our world, if you're

  15. living your life in this world today and you're thinking, I don't know what's going on. I see so

  16. much change. I don't know who to trust. And this passage is for you, my friend, because it tells you

  17. about who the God of the Bible is. And at the heart of this, it tells us that he's the God who is

  18. wonderfully trustworthy. And if you're after a story in your life just now, one that's maybe bigger than

  19. what you can see, then it doesn't get much older than this. Someone that's been tried and tested and

  20. not found wanting, but found to be wonderfully delivering. He's the God of wonderful consistency.

  21. He's not like the football manager who switches formation at halftime because who knew Harry

  22. Maguire couldn't play in a back three. Or the politician who gets wind of shifting public opinion

  23. and so rose back on manifesto pledges. Or like the tradesperson who rings you up saying,

  24. listen, perhaps I underestimated how long this is going to take and how much this is going to cost.

  25. You know, I just love those phone calls. No, human beings are like that. Our world is like that.

  26. But this passage here is telling us, if you take one thing from this, let it be this, that this

  27. God isn't like that. He never goes back on his word. And in his wisdom, he really has planned

  28. the end from the beginning. And that kind of God we can totally trust with our uncertain times

  29. and our uncertain lives. And we're going to find exactly where specifically we can entrust them

  30. today in this passage. Here's the thing though. Paul knows there's a rumor that's doing the rounds in

  31. Galatia. All about how we're made right with God. Essentially, the rumor is that God has ditched plan A

  32. and he's now moved to plan B. The word standing at the center of plan A comes up eight times in these

  33. verses. And it's always worth when you're reading the passage looking for words that are repeated

  34. because it more often than not gives you an idea into the center of the passage. Did you pick up the

  35. word? It's the word promise. That's the word that's at the center of plan A. The phrase at the middle of

  36. plan B, however, is keeping the law. And Paul's arguing in this passage that God's never had a plan B.

  37. You can't even really call it plan A. It's just always been the plan. A plan that centers on a promise

  38. that God made that cannot be, verse 15 and 17, a plan that cannot be set aside.

  39. And so as we enter the game at verse 16, see the connection to what we thought about last time

  40. about the promises God made to Abraham back in Genesis 12.

  41. promises of a place, promises of a people, promises of blessing that through him and his line would come

  42. to the nations of the world. And key to the argument in this passage is the timeline.

  43. those promises were made 430 years before the law was even a thing.

  44. But see who Paul says these promises that God made were specifically made to. Do you see it?

  45. Do you see it in the passage? And that word, according to Paul, isn't plural.

  46. That word is singular. Now we're building up a case here that we're going to hopefully,

  47. magnificently come back to at the end. So these details are all really important, okay?

  48. It's singular. Do you see him say it? So God made these promises, not so much to a people,

  49. but to a person who would come down Abraham's family line. You with me? Right? What does he say?

  50. That person is Jesus. Didn't quite get the arc or the PowerPoint.

  51. So Jesus, even though he comes way later in the Bible story, is no late addition.

  52. He's in the father's mind, even as he speaks these promises to Abraham.

  53. Now Jesus is the one who deserves the blessings of God.

  54. Jesus is the one who will inherit the promises of God.

  55. So these promises in Genesis 12 are made to Jesus.

  56. Park that thought for where we're going to finish in about 15 minutes time, okay?

  57. Promises made to Jesus.

  58. So Paul anticipates a question at verse 19.

  59. If it's always been about that promise,

  60. then what on earth was the point in God giving the law to his people?

  61. Do you see the question?

  62. Great question.

  63. And the law there is almost like it's an umbrella term for the Ten Commandments

  64. and all the periphery laws and the sacrificial system that God had given to his people.

  65. And Paul simply anticipating the question, what on earth was the point in all of that?

  66. Because up until this point in the letter, you could be forgiven for thinking that Paul is anti-law.

  67. Like he's encouraging people now to ditch it.

  68. But Paul's attitude to the law in this letter is a lot more nuanced than that.

  69. Paul knows, and remember his background, we thought about it a few weeks ago,

  70. his background having been raised in the school of Judaism.

  71. Paul knows that the law that God gave Israel after he saved them from Egypt

  72. and called them out to be his special possession is a glorious thing.

  73. It is a revelation of just how good and how different

  74. and how just and how holy and how perfect and how loving this God is.

  75. And if you want to know what it looks like to keep the law,

  76. just look at Jesus who kept it perfectly and who kept it joyously.

  77. In fact, you read Psalm 119.

  78. It's a psalm that's all about the beauty of the law.

  79. Paul's not against the law.

  80. How could he be?

  81. But he is against people thinking they can use it

  82. as a means by which they try and get right with God.

  83. So what was the point then?

  84. Paul's going to give us three things in this passage.

  85. Now, if you're a note taker, I've tried to break this up into three Es.

  86. And if you're thinking about the Bible and how it fits together

  87. and how you can understand particularly the Old Testament

  88. and light of the new and Jesus coming,

  89. friends, this is a great thing to get into today

  90. if you want to understand the Bible story.

  91. Are you with me?

  92. Here's the three things.

  93. If you're taking notes, three Es.

  94. First purpose was to expose people.

  95. Verse 19, do you see in the passage here,

  96. the law was given because of what?

  97. Transgressions.

  98. Do you see it?

  99. That word there, it just means overstepping the line,

  100. overstepping the mark, crossing the line.

  101. What we would say as parents, if you're like me,

  102. you've gone too far this time, right?

  103. What was thin ice is now cracked.

  104. So the law was given so that God's people would know

  105. what is right and what is wrong in God's eyes.

  106. I guess it's a bit like the scene in The Lion King

  107. when Mephasa says to Simba,

  108. that shadowy place, don't go there, right?

  109. Elfin graveyard, don't go there.

  110. Why?

  111. Why?

  112. Because it's for your good that you don't go there.

  113. It's for your good that you don't go there.

  114. And I think that's why so much of it is in negative form.

  115. Again, it's because of the hardness of the human heart.

  116. We need to be told what is not good for us to do, right?

  117. Like God's saying to his people,

  118. it's not good for you or your neighbor

  119. or your community for you to do that.

  120. But you know what?

  121. It is good for you and your soul

  122. and your community and your neighbor

  123. if you'd go this way.

  124. And so the law, if you like, it does two things.

  125. It curbs sin, stops them doing things

  126. that God knows is harmful.

  127. But here's the other thing.

  128. Think back to Mephasa.

  129. What does Simba now know?

  130. He knows where not to go.

  131. Mephasa has named it.

  132. He's named it.

  133. And that's what the law does.

  134. It names sin.

  135. Names it.

  136. So it's not like anger and murder and stealing and envy

  137. weren't a thing before the law.

  138. No, those things, if you like,

  139. now God has written down on paper

  140. so that you see it.

  141. God's named it.

  142. So you see that you've crossed the line

  143. and you see it in a new way

  144. and you see it for the evil, for what it is.

  145. And by naming it, verse 21,

  146. you see that no one gets righteous

  147. by trying to earnestly and perfectly keep it.

  148. You can't do it.

  149. The law, it exposes.

  150. Exposes us.

  151. Exposes you.

  152. And because that's true,

  153. secondly, verse 23,

  154. it enslaves you.

  155. Enslaves you.

  156. That's the image that the custody language there

  157. is meant to conjure up in our minds.

  158. Twice Paul says it, doesn't he?

  159. Verse 22, first of all.

  160. And verse 23,

  161. the law had you locked up.

  162. It found you guilty.

  163. It found you facing life in the cell.

  164. Enslaved you.

  165. So God's people were meant to look at the law,

  166. understand that they couldn't keep the law perfectly,

  167. and conclude that I am up the creek without a paddle.

  168. It enslaves you.

  169. And thirdly, verse 25,

  170. it educates you.

  171. So Paul uses, and we'll riff on this for a little bit, right?

  172. He uses that word, do you see it in the text?

  173. Guardian.

  174. In the Greek, it's pedagogos, that's it there,

  175. but it is someone who is in authority over you,

  176. and whose job it is,

  177. because of that authority over you,

  178. to teach you.

  179. And a big function of the law

  180. was to teach you about and get you ready for

  181. Jesus.

  182. And here's how this plays out

  183. in your quiet times,

  184. in your Bible reading,

  185. in our Bible reading every day.

  186. You're reading Exodus, for example.

  187. That whole rescuing people from slavery stuff,

  188. what's the point?

  189. Paul would say,

  190. in its own unique way,

  191. it was to teach you things

  192. about the person and the work

  193. of Jesus,

  194. ultimately.

  195. You're reading Leviticus,

  196. what's the point of the day

  197. of atonement,

  198. all this stuff about

  199. me needing to offer a sacrifice,

  200. and blood needing to be shed

  201. for my trespasses.

  202. What's the point?

  203. Paul would say,

  204. in its own unique way,

  205. it was to teach you something

  206. about your heart,

  207. and about the person

  208. and work of Jesus.

  209. And this is what you get,

  210. particularly in the first five

  211. books of the Bible,

  212. history.

  213. You get types,

  214. you get pictures,

  215. you get,

  216. as you move on in the story,

  217. you get prophecies.

  218. The law

  219. is prepping you

  220. for Jesus.

  221. And all of that

  222. made me think about

  223. my old biology teacher

  224. at school.

  225. His name was

  226. Dr. Williams.

  227. Right?

  228. I sat in his class

  229. for about four years

  230. trying to learn biology.

  231. I remember,

  232. I don't tell him this,

  233. I remember one phrase

  234. from all that time

  235. that he taught me.

  236. Do you know what it is?

  237. You'll never guess.

  238. Three words.

  239. Larger surface area.

  240. Everyone know

  241. what I'm talking about?

  242. Yeah?

  243. No?

  244. Right.

  245. Larger surface area.

  246. It's all I can hear

  247. in my mind.

  248. Right?

  249. So every time,

  250. here's how this plays out,

  251. every time we get

  252. some new flowers

  253. in our house,

  254. I get the stems,

  255. and the first thing I do

  256. is I cut them

  257. at a right angle.

  258. Anyone else do that?

  259. Why?

  260. Larger surface area.

  261. Yeah?

  262. No.

  263. Okay.

  264. Larger surface area.

  265. I learned this stuff

  266. from him.

  267. He was kind of prepping me

  268. for what life

  269. would be like

  270. in the real world

  271. when I graduated.

  272. Okay?

  273. But here's the thing

  274. about Dr. Williams.

  275. He's taught me stuff,

  276. but he didn't take

  277. any snash.

  278. Didn't take any nonsense.

  279. He was no stranger

  280. to the dishing out

  281. of detentions.

  282. He taught me stuff.

  283. I was under his authority.

  284. And in the same way,

  285. the law,

  286. says Paul,

  287. the law

  288. was your teacher.

  289. It was your guardian

  290. teaching you

  291. and disciplining you.

  292. But you know what would be

  293. the weirdest thing,

  294. going back to Dr. Williams

  295. for a minute,

  296. the weirdest thing,

  297. is if he phoned me tonight

  298. and he said,

  299. are you remembering

  300. your homework

  301. for Monday morning?

  302. I tell him

  303. to get on his bike.

  304. Because the moment

  305. I walked out that door

  306. of his class

  307. at the end of sixth year,

  308. our relationship

  309. totally changed.

  310. And that's what Paul

  311. is saying

  312. has happened

  313. with the arrival

  314. of Jesus

  315. in terms of

  316. your relationship

  317. to the law.

  318. the law

  319. has served

  320. its exposing

  321. and enslaving

  322. and educating

  323. purpose.

  324. It has

  325. done

  326. its job.

  327. It's done

  328. its role

  329. because

  330. now

  331. Christ,

  332. the one

  333. who

  334. the law

  335. was getting

  336. you ready

  337. for,

  338. the promise

  339. inheritor

  340. has

  341. arrived.

  342. So do you see

  343. in the context

  344. of Galatians,

  345. Paul is saying

  346. it doesn't make

  347. any sense

  348. for you

  349. to go back

  350. to the law,

  351. to think

  352. and that's

  353. how you get

  354. right with

  355. God.

  356. If you do

  357. that,

  358. do you see

  359. how you're

  360. just self-admitting

  361. yourself to

  362. prison?

  363. Now

  364. Christ has

  365. come,

  366. Paul says,

  367. verse 29,

  368. by faith

  369. you are

  370. now

  371. Abraham's

  372. seed.

  373. Whoa,

  374. whoa,

  375. whoa,

  376. whoa,

  377. whoa,

  378. whoa,

  379. whoa,

  380. whoa,

  381. wait a

  382. minute.

  383. Time out.

  384. I thought

  385. Jesus was

  386. Abraham's

  387. seed.

  388. You've

  389. just told us

  390. that,

  391. Paul.

  392. I thought

  393. Jesus alone,

  394. singular,

  395. you made a

  396. big thing

  397. about that.

  398. I thought

  399. Jesus alone,

  400. singular,

  401. inherited the

  402. promise.

  403. Correct.

  404. Well,

  405. how does

  406. that work?

  407. And friends,

  408. this is where

  409. it gets

  410. really good.

  411. Paul would

  412. say,

  413. it works

  414. because of

  415. your,

  416. verse 29,

  417. faith,

  418. because of

  419. your faith,

  420. and notice

  421. this,

  422. you belong

  423. to him.

  424. Do you see

  425. it?

  426. Got to see

  427. it.

  428. You belong

  429. to him.

  430. now,

  431. imagine

  432. one with

  433. me that

  434. one day

  435. a team

  436. of scientists

  437. discover a

  438. new tallest

  439. mountain in

  440. the world.

  441. It's twice

  442. the size of

  443. Everest.

  444. It is more

  445. dangerous than

  446. Kilimanjaro.

  447. In fact,

  448. so treacherous is

  449. it that no

  450. one has

  451. ever or

  452. will ever

  453. have any

  454. hope of

  455. getting to

  456. the top.

  457. Except

  458. one day

  459. a woman

  460. does.

  461. No team,

  462. no Sherpa,

  463. no nothing.

  464. She overcomes

  465. all the odds.

  466. She reaches

  467. the summit.

  468. She plants

  469. her victor's

  470. pole at

  471. the peak.

  472. And let's

  473. assume they

  474. get mobile

  475. coverage at

  476. the top of

  477. the mountain.

  478. She takes

  479. a selfie of

  480. herself,

  481. posts it on

  482. Instagram with

  483. the caption,

  484. we did it.

  485. We did it.

  486. Sorry,

  487. we?

  488. Well,

  489. it turns out

  490. this woman is

  491. carrying a

  492. child.

  493. We did it.

  494. Now,

  495. question for

  496. you,

  497. how did

  498. the child

  499. come to

  500. share in

  501. her victory?

  502. Not by

  503. doing anything

  504. other than

  505. being one

  506. with the

  507. woman.

  508. Now,

  509. friends,

  510. Jesus,

  511. through his

  512. life and

  513. his death

  514. and his

  515. glorious

  516. resurrection,

  517. is the

  518. great

  519. victor.

  520. Unrivaled,

  521. unmatched,

  522. unrepeatable,

  523. no one

  524. can topple

  525. him from

  526. his throne.

  527. To him

  528. alone belong

  529. the blessings

  530. of God.

  531. To him

  532. alone belong

  533. the promises

  534. of God.

  535. And we

  536. sang that

  537. song earlier,

  538. Christ is

  539. victor.

  540. Jesus is

  541. the victor.

  542. But my

  543. friends at

  544. Nidri would

  545. call that a

  546. kingdom

  547. banger.

  548. Okay,

  549. looking forward

  550. to learning

  551. it.

  552. Christ is

  553. victor.

  554. And I

  555. love singing

  556. songs about

  557. the victory

  558. of Jesus.

  559. But here's

  560. the question,

  561. what on

  562. earth does

  563. that have

  564. to do

  565. with me?

  566. Friends,

  567. if your

  568. faith is

  569. in Jesus,

  570. the answer

  571. to that

  572. question is

  573. everything.

  574. Everything.

  575. His

  576. victory.

  577. victory.

  578. Because we

  579. are one

  580. with him.

  581. The promises

  582. he's inherited.

  583. The future

  584. that he has

  585. won.

  586. The victory

  587. over sin

  588. and death

  589. that's his.

  590. How do we

  591. share it?

  592. We belong

  593. to him.

  594. That's it.

  595. That's it.

  596. We belong

  597. to him.

  598. And if

  599. you're feeling

  600. today like,

  601. what on

  602. earth am I

  603. doing with

  604. my life?

  605. Is there

  606. any future?

  607. Is it

  608. worth keeping

  609. on going?

  610. Life is

  611. so hard.

  612. Friends,

  613. this one's

  614. for you.

  615. You

  616. belong

  617. to him.

  618. Can I

  619. just give you

  620. two quick

  621. things that

  622. that means

  623. to try and

  624. whet your

  625. appetite for

  626. next week?

  627. You've got to

  628. come back

  629. next week

  630. and Ian

  631. will take

  632. us through

  633. the first

  634. little bit

  635. of chapter

  636. four,

  637. which is

  638. golden.

  639. Two quick

  640. things that

  641. that means.

  642. Firstly,

  643. it means,

  644. friends,

  645. that there's

  646. a new

  647. me.

  648. Because I

  649. belong to

  650. him.

  651. In Christ,

  652. you are

  653. someone who

  654. has been,

  655. verse 27,

  656. clothed with

  657. Christ.

  658. You see the

  659. language?

  660. Put off the

  661. old,

  662. you've put

  663. on the

  664. new.

  665. You are

  666. a child

  667. of God.

  668. That is

  669. who you

  670. are.

  671. It's not

  672. speculation.

  673. It's

  674. declaration.

  675. You have

  676. new

  677. privileges.

  678. You have

  679. a new

  680. future.

  681. And you

  682. have a

  683. new

  684. calling on

  685. your life.

  686. Kevin

  687. de Young

  688. in his

  689. great little

  690. book called

  691. The Hole

  692. in Our

  693. Holiness

  694. says this

  695. rather cheekily

  696. and I love

  697. it.

  698. He says,

  699. God does

  700. want you to

  701. be true to

  702. yourself.

  703. But the

  704. you that he's

  705. talking about

  706. is the

  707. you that you

  708. are by

  709. grace and

  710. not by

  711. nature.

  712. Yeah?

  713. The

  714. you,

  715. the new

  716. you,

  717. the you

  718. that you

  719. are by

  720. grace.

  721. He wants

  722. you to

  723. be true

  724. to yourself.

  725. No,

  726. they owed

  727. you.

  728. Do you

  729. see what

  730. he's

  731. saying?

  732. God

  733. has saved

  734. us for

  735. radical

  736. holiness

  737. that baffles

  738. the world.

  739. And I

  740. take it if

  741. growing as a

  742. Christian is

  743. being transformed

  744. more into

  745. Jesus'

  746. image,

  747. if it was

  748. a joy for

  749. Jesus to

  750. obey the

  751. law,

  752. friends,

  753. it's going

  754. to look like

  755. that in

  756. our lives

  757. as well.

  758. We're going

  759. to think

  760. about that

  761. in a few

  762. weeks'

  763. time.

  764. Not saved

  765. by the

  766. law,

  767. but as

  768. we follow

  769. Christ,

  770. I take it

  771. this will

  772. be all

  773. over our

  774. lives.

  775. Number two,

  776. it means that

  777. there's a new

  778. we.

  779. And this is

  780. bigger here.

  781. Because you

  782. belong to

  783. him,

  784. you belong

  785. to each

  786. other.

  787. God's

  788. holy

  789. blessings of God in the same way? Do you see how God has created a radical equality among you?

  790. Remember we saw a few weeks ago how Peter, he withdrew himself from the Gentiles because of

  791. the sneers of these Jewish teachers that had come up from Jerusalem, who said to Peter,

  792. you're eating with who? You're eating with them? I wonder if the Gentiles in Galatia might just

  793. have been feeling like second-class citizens in God's kingdom. Like if God's people were all to

  794. board a flight, they would be shown right to economy while the Jews would go left to business.

  795. Why? Well, because they've got the history, they've got the law, got all the stuff, got all the stories.

  796. Remember Jewish men in this day would pray each morning thanking God that he hadn't made them a

  797. Gentile, a slave, or a female. Categories that would have meant an awful lot in terms of the social

  798. hierarchy of the Roman Empire as well. Paul says, see when it comes to being children of God? Not so.

  799. And that's why verse 28, friends, is so, so explosive. And it is the proverbial cat in among

  800. the pigeons. And remember in the context, it's all about being God's children, probably more accurately

  801. God's sons. Again, that's not the gender stuff there is specific and important because it's all

  802. about inheritance. We'll see that more next week. But here's what Paul writes, there's neither Jew nor

  803. Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

  804. All one in Christ Jesus. Now, understand that the distinctions haven't disappeared.

  805. But the barriers have been demolished. And the relationship between you all has totally changed.

  806. Imagine a community like that living in the Roman Empire.

  807. A CEO working in Mayfair in London, hanging out with a single mom living

  808. in the east end of Glasgow. They're one. Why are they one? Well, they're one in Christ Jesus.

  809. See how radical that is, what he's saying.

  810. Oh, friends, you are all one in Christ Jesus. Listen, just as we close,

  811. our doorbell went at 6.43 on Monday evening.

  812. And I opened it and there was a lady standing there.

  813. And she said, it's Graham, isn't it? And I could see where the conversation was going.

  814. And I almost thought about saying no, but I thought, no, I'll go with this one.

  815. So I nodded. And she said, do you mind me asking who you are planning to vote for at next year's election?

  816. And at that point, I was so grateful for four little children who poked their heads around the door

  817. at that precise moment. And she read the room and got the vibe that now maybe wasn't the time

  818. for a long, deep and meaningful conversation.

  819. But here's the thing. See, as I closed the door and said my goodbyes to her,

  820. I wondered why that question made me so uneasy.

  821. And I think the answer that I came away with is that we're all aware just how divisive a question that is currently.

  822. And if you like it, that is just a difference of opinion.

  823. But you look at our world, friends, and it is full of so much inequality.

  824. Economic inequality, social inequality, ethnic inequality.

  825. And we don't have any answers for it.

  826. And this week of all weeks has helped us realize the evil that exists in human hearts

  827. and the divisions that there are amongst the peoples of our country.

  828. And so do you see how glorious a picture that is?

  829. In a world that is so divided and hotly so, do you see how precious and beautiful

  830. and stunning the unity and diversity, the radical equality that God has brought about through his son?

  831. In his multinational, multi-generational, multi-lingual people of faith,

  832. that somehow, somehow, through the cross of Jesus, he has made them one.

  833. And it's all because God doesn't have a plan B.

  834. This is the plan.

  835. And this is what Jesus is doing.

  836. He is building his church.

  837. And so maybe, listen, maybe put it at this point.

  838. As we move towards communion,

  839. since we pass it around to each other, friends,

  840. take a moment just to look the other person in the eye.

  841. Right?

  842. Just think to yourself,

  843. brother and sister in Christ.

  844. Let me pray.

  845. And so, Father, we're just so thankful this morning for Jesus.

  846. Jesus, who is our life.

  847. Father, we thank you for the forgiveness and the newness of life that we have in him.

  848. That nothing in our hands that we bring simply to the cross we cling.

  849. Naked run to you for dress, helpless run to you for grace.

  850. Thank you that Jesus is an all-sufficient saviour.

  851. So, Father, I just pray, Lord, that you would remind us this morning of the glorious unity that we have.

  852. What we were thinking about a few weeks ago,

  853. this snow globe, this little microcosm of this global reality across the church,

  854. that in Christ Jesus, you are all children of God through faith.

  855. So, Father, be with us as we move to a time of communion now.

  856. In Jesus' name we pray.

  857. Amen.

  858. Amen.
