  1. Have you heard the phrase, you can tell an awful lot about a person by the way they choose to enter a room?

  2. ! Heard that? Yeah, some of us? You can tell a lot about a person by the way they choose to enter a room.

  3. We live in a world where entrances matter. Just have a think about that. Entrances matter.

  4. I've done enough weddings in my time in this building to know that when it comes to a bride,

  5. walking up the aisle, she's not winging that. She's thought about every single step and the timing of that.

  6. I'm pointing because we've done so many here. The timing of that step. She's thought about who's going to go where in the procession.

  7. She's thought about the music that she's going to come into. An awful lot of thought has gone into how she enters.

  8. And it's not just brides who care about entrances, if you think about it.

  9. Singers care about entrances. Comedians care about entrances. Political leaders care about entrances.

  10. Many an hour spent in my youth watching WWF. I know that wrestlers care about entrances.

  11. You can tell a lot about a person by the way they choose to enter the room. You with me?

  12. Yeah? You with me? We're in the room. Great.

  13. The events of this passage, what we're going to take in this morning, we're going to take in an entrance.

  14. Okay? Take in an entrance. Now, the events of this passage, Christians call it, Craig alluded to it earlier,

  15. we call it Palm Sunday. So this is the first day of the last week of Jesus' life.

  16. So we need to know about Palm Sunday. Now, come with me to the text. Do you see verse 28? Look at it there.

  17. Let me show you the movement that's in this chapter.

  18. As we think about entrances, and entrances matter. Here's verse 28. Do you see how Jesus is heading for Jerusalem?

  19. And I guess that's kind of like the last episode in a box set, right?

  20. You think about everything's been building towards a finale.

  21. That's kind of what's been going on in Luke's gospel to this point.

  22. Everything's been building towards this last scene that's going to happen in Jerusalem.

  23. And Jesus started making that journey to Jerusalem in Luke's gospel back at chapter 9, verse 51.

  24. Luke tells us that Jesus set his face like flint to go there.

  25. And what does that tell you? It tells you that there's a purpose to what Jesus is doing.

  26. But as we hit Luke chapter 19, or sorry, way back in chapter 9, sorry.

    Luke 19 chapter mention

  27. He was in Galilee in the north when he said that he was setting his face like flint to go to Jerusalem.

  28. Now, that is some 70 to 90 miles between him and Jerusalem, and he's doing the thing on foot.

  29. So that's some distance.

  30. We call it the distance between Edinburgh and Dundee, okay?

  31. It's a big, big distance.

  32. But see at verse 29, in our chapter this morning, chapter 19, he's approaching Bethpage and Bethany.

  33. Now, those villages are about two miles from Jerusalem.

  34. That's Brunsfield to the east end of Princess Street, roughly speaking.

  35. So you get the idea, okay?

  36. Jesus, in terms of this journey to Jerusalem, him and his disciples are on the home street.

  37. They're almost there.

  38. You see it?

  39. We keep on going.

  40. Verse 37 of chapter 19, Jesus is on the road that goes down to, do you see the geographical detail, to the Mount of Olives?

  41. So he's nudging closer.

  42. And then verse 45, which is just the one after where we're going to end this morning, he's at the temple courts.

  43. But which tells you by the end of verse 44, he's made his way to Jerusalem.

  44. So do you see the movement?

  45. Here's what I want to suggest, maybe the big thesis of this sermon this morning.

  46. You can tell a lot about a person by the way they choose to enter a room.

  47. You can tell an awful lot about Jesus by the way he chooses to enter Jerusalem.

  48. He enters Jerusalem not with pomp and grandeur.

  49. This is not some kind of Aladdin street parade.

  50. It's kind of how I would have done it.

  51. Jesus turns up in Jerusalem riding on a donkey with tears in his eyes, with the despised and the downcast singing his praise.

  52. And that's really surprising.

  53. You know, in our world where we're so often skeptical about people's motives, right?

  54. Every time I turn on my phone and it says, would you like to share this data with certain people?

  55. Oh, yeah, that's fine.

  56. We'll just do that.

  57. And now I realize, oh, no, wait a minute here.

  58. People are kind of profiting over my data, knowing what I'm doing.

  59. Become really skeptical about the world, right?

  60. This is what we live in.

  61. We're skeptical about people's motives.

  62. I want you to come and see what's driving Jesus.

  63. What's motivating him?

  64. What's his heart in this?

  65. See, if you don't know Jesus, this is the perfect chance to let him intrigue you.

  66. Josie said that, didn't she?

  67. She said, I'm all in.

  68. I love that phrase.

  69. I'm all in.

  70. Come and let Jesus intrigue you.

  71. Why is he behaving like this?

  72. Come and see his heart if you don't know him.

  73. And see if you do.

  74. Come and be gloriously reminded about who your king is.

  75. I always love the words of, is it Mr. Tumnus in Narnia talking to Lucy?

  76. About Narnia.

  77. What does he say?

  78. The further up and further in you go, the bigger everything gets.

  79. And may that be true of Jesus this Easter.

  80. Yeah?

  81. Always more of his excellencies to know.

  82. Maybe you've heard this a hundred times in your life.

  83. I don't know.

  84. Friends, here's what's true.

  85. Always more of his beauty to know.

  86. Three things to see in this scene.

  87. Here's number one.

  88. Firstly, that the ultimate plan is playing out.

  89. Now, two reasons I think this is strange.

  90. See if you agree with me.

  91. Two reasons I think this is strange.

  92. Firstly, Jesus.

  93. Why not just finish like you started on foot?

  94. Yeah?

  95. Why not just finish like you started on foot?

  96. You come all that way on foot.

  97. This was before Uber.

  98. This was before ScotRail.

  99. This was before anything else.

  100. He's made it on foot.

  101. And this last little section he chooses to do something different.

  102. Why is he doing that?

  103. Second reason it's strange.

  104. See if you're going to choose to ride in on something.

  105. Honestly, could you not have picked a better animal?

  106. You thinking that?

  107. Growing up, do you know a donkey was the nickname you give someone who wasn't very good at football?

  108. If you remember this, if you have a certain vintage, donkey was the card that you didn't want to be holding when you were playing that card game of pairs.

  109. Remember that?

  110. Who's the lovable yet not the sharpest tool in the box character who we laugh at in Shrek?

  111. Donkey.

  112. Yeah?

  113. So did Jesus not get the memo here?

  114. Because kings don't tend to ride into places on donkeys, right?

  115. You're picking a stallion.

  116. You're picking an elephant.

  117. Not the loot that you're going for if you pick a donkey.

  118. But as is so often the case in the Bible, what is completely bizarre on a human level is utterly profound on a heavenly level.

  119. And the invitation here is to see how deep and profound this is.

  120. Now notice a few things here before we get to the donkey, okay?

  121. Notice how in control Jesus is here.

  122. Do you see verse 30?

  123. You got it there?

  124. How he tells his disciples to go ahead to the next village.

  125. Do you see this?

  126. And get the colt.

  127. And then do you see how at verse 32 it plays out exactly how he said it would?

  128. He's in total control.

  129. That's what Luke is trying to convey to us here.

  130. Total control.

  131. Now knowing that is going to be really important for how the next week unfolds.

  132. In all its ugliest moments.

  133. In all its bizarre moments.

  134. In all its unjust moments.

  135. To know that Jesus is a king whose authority extends to even the smallest of details is really going to matter.

  136. Can I just say as we head to the cross?

  137. The cross of Calvary.

  138. The cross of Jesus is the pulpit from which the most powerful sermon ever on the sovereignty of God is preached.

  139. And Jesus' control is so poignantly complemented by Jesus' choice.

  140. Because before we think that the donkey was the only animal in the village.

  141. And Jesus is thinking to himself like some kind of disappointed Aldi shopper looking at the fruit and veg aisle at 9.50 on a weekday thinking I'll just have to make it work.

  142. Jesus knows his Bible.

  143. Right?

  144. And in particular he knows the prophecy that Craig read at the start of Zechariah chapter 9.

    Zechariah 9 chapter mention

  145. This is what God had said generations before to his people.

  146. Rejoice greatly daughter Zion.

  147. Shout daughter Jerusalem.

  148. See your king comes to you.

  149. Righteous and victorious.

  150. Lowly and riding on a donkey.

  151. And so here is Jesus if you like going out his way to put on this prophecy like a morph suit.

  152. So that we will see anyone who picks up Luke's gospel will see and join the dots.

  153. But did you catch the heart of the one who's on the donkey?

  154. That word there that captures his character, his heart.

  155. What's the word?

  156. It's lowly.

  157. Lowly.

  158. Or gentle.

  159. Yeah, it's a word that gets a bad rep in our day.

  160. We can often think that gentle is just another word for soft.

  161. But let me tell you that meekness is not weakness.

  162. Yeah, true gentleness, true lowliness is deciding to use your strength and your power and your abilities for the benefit of others.

  163. That's true gentleness.

  164. Gentleness.

  165. And it's always true, isn't it?

  166. If you're a parent in the room, that's what we need to be to our children.

  167. That's how we are gentle to our children.

  168. We use our strength to serve them.

  169. Yeah?

  170. Friends, you know, we're trying to think about this gentleness thing this week.

  171. You know, if I were to go toe to toe with Anthony Joshua, just riff with me for a bit, okay?

  172. And ask him to be gentle with me.

  173. That would not be a comment on his ability.

  174. Right?

  175. What it would be is me asking him to restrain his power in order to do me good.

  176. Right?

  177. That's what true gentleness is.

  178. And that is the heart of the king who comes riding on the donkey.

  179. Lowly, gentle, meek.

  180. But make no mistake, meekness is not weakness.

  181. Make no mistake that Jesus has got all the power in the world at his disposal.

  182. And yet see that his heart is entirely captured with the people that he's come to serve and save.

  183. That's who's in his sights.

  184. That's how he is going to choose to use his power.

  185. He is going to go to the cross to carry our burdens and our sins to save us.

  186. Now contrast that use of power with everything that you're seeing on the world stage right now.

  187. Truly, this is a donkey that no one has ever ridden before.

  188. You see that detail in the text?

  189. Again, not insignificant.

  190. Truly, this is a donkey that no one has ridden before.

  191. Subtext.

  192. There's never been or ever will be a king like this.

  193. Who will do what he's going to do.

  194. And will serve in the way that he's going to serve.

  195. Will use his power in the way that he's going to use his power.

  196. Do you see that the ultimate plan is playing out?

  197. And Luke wants you to not just go narrow.

  198. He wants you to widen your gaze as a reader and think about this plan.

  199. Which is bizarre on a human level yet profound on a heavenly level.

  200. The ultimate plan is playing out.

  201. Friends, second, the ultimate song is needing sung.

  202. Again, come with me.

  203. Verse 35.

  204. Do you see how as Jesus heads to Jerusalem on the donkey,

  205. the people start spreading their cloaks on the road?

  206. Again, do you see that?

  207. You can think of that.

  208. I guess something like they're rolling out the red carpet in their own distinct way.

  209. That's what's going on here.

  210. And they start hailing Jesus as king.

  211. And hear the volume.

  212. Just turned up here.

  213. Right?

  214. Filling the air with the words of Psalm 118.

  215. Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord.

  216. What they're saying here is Jesus, you're God's guy.

  217. You're God's guy.

  218. And the thing to see is that Jesus is accepting their praise.

  219. They've come for the miracles.

  220. You get that at the end.

  221. So maybe there's a sense in which they've still got things to learn and see and understand about Jesus.

  222. But boy, do they get his identity right.

  223. You're God's guy.

  224. Jesus is accepting the praise.

  225. But you see how some people are ticked off.

  226. You see that verse 39?

  227. Because along this road, I imagine they're just in between the other people who are singing.

  228. Along this road, mixed in, are the Pharisees who effectively say,

  229. Jesus, tell them to turn it off.

  230. That's what they say, isn't it?

  231. Turn it.

  232. Not just turn it down.

  233. Tell them to turn it off.

  234. And check out Jesus' response.

  235. Oh, I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.

  236. Now, friends, there is so much going on here.

  237. Geology, do you see, exists for doxology, if I could put it like that.

  238. But can I show you something that's going on here that I've never seen before?

  239. What else are the disciples shouting?

  240. Do you see it?

  241. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest.

  242. Now, if you remember at Christmastime, right?

  243. And you get this earlier in Luke's gospel.

  244. If you remember at Christmastime, this is almost word for word.

  245. And Luke 2, what you get the angels declaring about Jesus at his birth.

  246. They're declaring it.

  247. But now who's singing that same song in chapter 19?

  248. Now, we don't know who these disciples are, right?

  249. God and his sovereignty hasn't given us that detail.

  250. Imagine Luke, if he thought it was massively important,

  251. would have told us we don't have it.

  252. But here's where you use a little bit of imagination.

  253. Because just a chapter earlier, chapter 18, verse 43.

  254. Flick there.

  255. Who encounters Jesus just outside Jericho?

  256. This blind man.

  257. Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.

  258. Do you see how Luke goes out his way to say he started praising Jesus?

  259. And what did he do?

  260. He followed him.

  261. So could it be that this blind man is there with his sight back,

  262. just singing his praises?

  263. Could it also be that Zacchaeus, if you keep going into chapter 19,

  264. could it be that Zacchaeus is there too?

  265. Yeah?

  266. Jericho's most wanted.

  267. Face on a dartboard kind of guy.

  268. Right?

  269. What's...

  270. What was it called?

  271. Was it Enchanted with the kids yesterday?

  272. Flynn Rider walks into that bar and everybody goes quiet.

  273. It's quite a kind of thing Zacchaeus would do when he walks into a bar.

  274. Walks into the pub and everything goes quiet.

  275. Right?

  276. He's not the guy that you want your daughter to be bringing home saying,

  277. I've met somebody.

  278. He's called Zacchaeus, is he?

  279. Right?

  280. He has his life transformed by Jesus.

  281. He says at the end of that bit,

  282. the son of man has come to save and seek the lost.

  283. So do you see who could be in this gang of disciples singing Jesus' praise?

  284. Right?

  285. This is Rogues Gallery meets Motley Crue

  286. with a few rugged fishermen thrown in for good measure.

  287. They're lining the streets.

  288. This group of disciples could well have been,

  289. think about it,

  290. the worst choir ever.

  291. The worst choir ever.

  292. This is the episode of Songs of Praise that would have been cut

  293. because no one would want to watch this.

  294. This could have been the worst choir ever.

  295. And yet here is the wonderful thing to see.

  296. When Jesus grips a heart,

  297. he gives us a new song.

  298. The question is not,

  299. can you hit a note?

  300. The question is,

  301. have you got a song to sing?

  302. And do you see how this Motley Crue,

  303. who probably couldn't hit a note,

  304. they start singing

  305. and their praise is in wonderful unison with heavens.

  306. Do you see it?

  307. It rises to form a wonderful sound.

  308. Earth's song matches heaven's song

  309. as this king and the donkey makes his way towards Jerusalem.

  310. Is that not a wonderful thing to think about

  311. what it is to sing as a Christian?

  312. We are, friends,

  313. saved people are a singing people.

  314. It's one of the distinctives of the church, isn't it?

  315. We sing.

  316. When we sing,

  317. it's not about can we hit a note.

  318. It's about our praise is rising and joining with heavens.

  319. Take on the king who is worthy of praise.

  320. Do you see it?

  321. Let that encourage you this morning.

  322. Saved people love to sing.

  323. It always makes me think of that famous line

  324. from American author Anne Dillard

  325. in her book,

  326. Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, right?

  327. She said,

  328. I had been my whole life a bell

  329. and I never knew it until that moment

  330. what it was to be lifted up and rung.

  331. The blind man, Zacchaeus,

  332. maybe it's your song this morning.

  333. I never knew what it was to be a bell

  334. until I was lifted up and rung.

  335. And Jesus gives us a song to sing.

  336. Do you see how this is a wonderful foretaste

  337. of what will be wonderfully true

  338. on that day when he returns?

  339. All heaven,

  340. all earth,

  341. rising to sing

  342. and to fill

  343. all of creation

  344. with his praise.

  345. Some of you remember that old hymn,

  346. praise my soul,

  347. the king of heaven,

  348. to his feet,

  349. thy tribute bring,

  350. ransomed,

  351. healed,

  352. restored,

  353. forgiven,

  354. who like me,

  355. his praise should sing.

  356. Praise him,

  357. praise him,

  358. praise him,

  359. praise him,

  360. praise the everlasting king.

  361. Friends,

  362. do you see how there's an ultimate song

  363. needing sung?

  364. And then thirdly,

  365. the ultimate peace is being offered.

  366. Because you can't help,

  367. can you,

  368. notice the massive contrast here

  369. between all the noise,

  370. all the excitement,

  371. all the expectation,

  372. all the praise giving way to

  373. Jesus crying.

  374. Have you ever wondered

  375. what makes Jesus cry?

  376. Here it is.

  377. Two things to see here.

  378. See who these tears are for.

  379. As not for the first time

  380. in Luke's gospel,

  381. Jesus' heart visibly breaks

  382. as he looks out

  383. and he perceives

  384. the city of Jerusalem.

  385. Because in Luke 19,

  386. he sees this city

  387. not as it currently is,

  388. but he sees it

  389. as it soon will be.

  390. Because what Jesus describes here

  391. would happen in AD 70

  392. when the Romans

  393. marched into town.

  394. So within 40 years,

  395. call it,

  396. of this moment,

  397. within a generation,

  398. all of this,

  399. all of these things

  400. will take place.

  401. And in the Bible story,

  402. that's happened before.

  403. Jesus is not the first

  404. weeping prophet in the Bible.

  405. He is the ultimate one.

  406. And yet there's another

  407. weeping prophet in the Bible

  408. called Jeremiah.

  409. Right?

  410. Who spoke to his generation

  411. of people in Jerusalem,

  412. pleading with them

  413. to see that they,

  414. because they wouldn't listen,

  415. because they were scorning

  416. the word of God,

  417. and because their detestable deeds

  418. were making a mockery

  419. of the holy God

  420. who they were called

  421. to know and represent,

  422. God was going to use

  423. this pagan nation

  424. called Babylon

  425. to come in,

  426. roll in,

  427. and judge their wickedness.

  428. Jeremiah weeps

  429. over his generation.

  430. And he says,

  431. would you see that judgment

  432. is coming?

  433. And it came.

  434. And here is Jesus weeping

  435. because he can see

  436. that history is about

  437. to repeat itself.

  438. And so here's the irony

  439. in Luke 19,

  440. the city of peace,

  441. Jerusalem,

  442. the city of peace,

  443. has no peace.

  444. Because they will not

  445. come to their king

  446. and receive the peace

  447. that only he can give.

  448. And the thing is,

  449. friends,

  450. he doesn't stop there.

  451. I wouldn't be doing

  452. my job right

  453. if I didn't tell you

  454. that there is coming a day

  455. when this Jesus

  456. will return.

  457. Not with tears

  458. in his eyes,

  459. but he will return

  460. in power

  461. and every knee

  462. will bow before him.

  463. And if you refuse

  464. him,

  465. there is a day

  466. like this

  467. that's coming

  468. in the end

  469. when you will have

  470. to face the judgment

  471. of God.

  472. Make no mistake

  473. that today

  474. there are still tears

  475. in his eyes

  476. as he weeps over

  477. our city,

  478. the cities of the world,

  479. as he weeps over

  480. the people

  481. who will not

  482. come to him

  483. and receive peace.

  484. Know that Jesus

  485. still has tears

  486. in his eyes

  487. for you.

  488. And then see

  489. where these tears

  490. will take him.

  491. You know,

  492. we're very aware,

  493. aren't we,

  494. at the minute

  495. that if there's

  496. one word

  497. that would not

  498. capture our world

  499. right now,

  500. it is peace.

  501. Yeah,

  502. on a global scale,

  503. on a personal scale.

  504. Maybe you resonate

  505. with this

  506. from Boris Becker,

  507. that famous

  508. tennis player

  509. who was at the top

  510. of the tennis world.

  511. He said this,

  512. I was rich,

  513. I had all the material

  514. possessions I needed.

  515. It's the old song

  516. of movie stars

  517. and pop stars

  518. who commit suicide.

  519. They have everything

  520. and yet they are

  521. so unhappy.

  522. I had no

  523. inner peace.

  524. And the thing

  525. in our world

  526. today, friends,

  527. is that we go

  528. looking for peace

  529. in all the wrong

  530. places.

  531. And Jesus

  532. is here

  533. offering us,

  534. if you don't

  535. know him today,

  536. the peace

  537. that you so

  538. desperately

  539. need.

  540. Because these

  541. tears,

  542. where will they

  543. take him?

  544. They will take him

  545. all the way

  546. to the cross.

  547. Do you see

  548. in this passage

  549. how Jesus'

  550. heart was

  551. on us

  552. well before

  553. our hearts

  554. were on him?

  555. Yeah?

  556. His heart

  557. was on us

  558. here.

  559. The tears

  560. will take him

  561. to the cross.

  562. What happens

  563. there?

  564. He goes there

  565. to take responsibility

  566. for my shame,

  567. to make amends

  568. for my failings,

  569. to pay the price

  570. for my rebellion,

  571. to be the ransom

  572. for my rescue,

  573. to rescue me

  574. from eternal

  575. judgment.

  576. he goes there

  577. to tear

  578. into the curtain

  579. at the temple

  580. that kept

  581. sinful man

  582. from the presence

  583. of a holy God.

  584. And he tears

  585. it into

  586. and he beckons

  587. me

  588. to,

  589. by faith

  590. in him,

  591. be reconciled

  592. to my creator,

  593. my God,

  594. and have life

  595. with him.

  596. That's the peace

  597. that Jesus

  598. is talking about

  599. here.

  600. And that's

  601. the peace

  602. that we all

  603. so desperately

  604. need.

  605. As you can tell

  606. an awful lot

  607. about a person

  608. from how they

  609. enter a room,

  610. can I suggest

  611. you can tell

  612. an awful lot

  613. about Jesus

  614. by the way

  615. he chooses

  616. to enter Jerusalem.

  617. So you see

  618. the wonder

  619. of this passage?

  620. You know,

  621. just as we close

  622. life stage

  623. that I'm at,

  624. I would describe

  625. as daddy taxi

  626. and Friday

  627. night,

  628. I'm

  629. taking the

  630. girls to

  631. Musselboro

  632. and

  633. with their

  634. friends,

  635. we drive

  636. to Cameron

  637. Tove,

  638. I'm just

  639. giving you

  640. the route,

  641. we start

  642. heading the

  643. wrong to

  644. Peffermill

  645. and all of a

  646. sudden the

  647. kids in the

  648. back start

  649. shouting,

  650. open the

  651. windows,

  652. open the

  653. windows,

  654. open the

  655. windows.

  656. I said,

  657. why do you

  658. want to open

  659. the windows?

  660. It's freezing

  661. outside.

  662. Open the

  663. windows,

  664. open the

  665. windows.

  666. So just

  667. go with it.

  668. Open the

  669. windows and

  670. they sat

  671. there and

  672. went,

  673. ah,

  674. and then

  675. her line

  676. was,

  677. best smell

  678. ever.

  679. And if

  680. you know

  681. that route,

  682. you'll know

  683. that after

  684. Peffermill,

  685. you hit

  686. what?

  687. The

  688. biscuit

  689. factory.

  690. And I've

  691. got this

  692. sermon in my

  693. head and I'm

  694. thinking,

  695. is that not

  696. what this

  697. passage should

  698. be to us?

  699. Seeing all

  700. the reverence,

  701. friends,

  702. that this

  703. week coming

  704. should rightly

  705. have as we

  706. remember Jesus'

  707. unjust trial,

  708. as we remember

  709. his unfailing

  710. commitment,

  711. as we remember

  712. his unjust

  713. condemnation,

  714. as we remember

  715. the nails that

  716. pierced his

  717. hands,

  718. as we

  719. remember the

  720. two thieves

  721. that were on

  722. there,

  723. as we

  724. remember his

  725. tomb,

  726. as we

  727. remember on

  728. the third

  729. day he

  730. rises again

  731. verifiably,

  732. as we

  733. remember it

  734. all,

  735. what we've

  736. got to

  737. remember is

  738. that we

  739. are not

  740. doing some

  741. kind of

  742. historical

  743. reenactment,

  744. like some

  745. kind of

  746. episode of

  747. horrible

  748. histories.

  749. As we

  750. take in

  751. this moment,

  752. as we

  753. lead up to

  754. Easter and

  755. get involved

  756. in those

  757. Easter devotions

  758. because they're

  759. absolutely

  760. brilliant.

  761. As we

  762. take in

  763. the gospel,

  764. friends,

  765. best smell

  766. ever.

  767. Get it

  768. in your

  769. lungs.

  770. This king

  771. comes riding

  772. into Jerusalem

  773. with tears

  774. in his eyes,

  775. mounted on a

  776. donkey,

  777. with the

  778. detested and

  779. the deplorable

  780. singing his

  781. praise.

  782. There ain't no

  783. king like this.

  784. What I pray

  785. and then we

  786. will finish

  787. with song.

  788. Father,

  789. thank you so

  790. much that

  791. we've had a

  792. wonderful

  793. glimpse of

  794. Jesus today.

  795. Thank you

  796. that you tell

  797. us that your

  798. ways are so

  799. far above

  800. our ways.

  801. This is not

  802. how we would

  803. have thought

  804. it would have

  805. played out.

  806. But thank you

  807. as we just

  808. have spent

  809. half an hour

  810. or so just

  811. gazing and

  812. breathing in

  813. the beauty of

  814. what Jesus is

  815. doing here.

  816. As we've

  817. gazed upon

  818. his heart,

  819. Lord,

  820. I pray that

  821. your spirit

  822. would take

  823. that,

  824. that message

  825. of peace

  826. that he

  827. went to the

  828. cross to

  829. achieve for

  830. us.

  831. Lord,

  832. may that

  833. come home

  834. with a

  835. fresh wonder

  836. this Easter.

  837. Father,

  838. we thank you

  839. for your love

  840. for us.

  841. Thank you so

  842. much,

  843. Lord,

  844. that your

  845. heart was

  846. on us way

  847. before our

  848. heart was

  849. ever renewed.

  850. Thank you

  851. that you are

  852. this kind of

  853. God.

  854. And we pray

  855. all of these

  856. things in

  857. Jesus'

  858. precious name.

  859. Amen.
