Lord, we thank you for today, Holy Spirit. We ask
-
that you come and you root into us what you
-
would have rooted into us. Oh God, Lord, I pray
-
right now that my lips speak your words, nothing more,
-
nothing less. So God Lord, I pray right now that
-
you soften our hearts to hear you, to meditate on you,
-
to know you, to be one with you in unity
-
and grace and holiness. O God, I thank you Lord
-
that you are here with us, Holy Spirit. I pray
-
right now that you open your word to us in
-
a new way. Lord. I pray our eyes be ready
-
to see you, our ears ready to hear you. Of God,
-
and we give you honor and we give you glory
-
in Jesus's mighty name. Amen. Amen, Amen. My sermon title
-
today is igniting the season you're in. This is a
-
two part I'm gonna speak about the season of the
-
church and then the second part of talk about how
-
you fit into this season and igniting yourself in the season.
-
Ecclesiastes three to one says, to everything there is a season,
-
a time for every purpose under Heaven. I believe that
-
there have been moves of God throughout time that have
-
changed the way people think about God. We've had movements.
-
He does things for the generation that he comes for.
-
Does that make sense? The way he speaks to us
-
and in a generation may be different than he speaks
-
to us in the last generation. Does that make sense.
-
That's what I'm saying. When I was when I was younger,
-
I got a call on my life and I loved
-
Benny hen like I loved Benny hen Bro. I would
-
watch him. My aunt would have him on TBN, like
-
on repeat, I think, and I would just watch him
-
and watch him and watch him. And I was like,
-
deep inside of me, I thought, that's the call of
-
my life. I'm gonna get up there. I'm gonna lay
-
hands on people and They're gonna fall out under the
-
power of God. That was my vision for my life.
-
I felt it, felt it inside of me. Right. I'm
-
not saying that can't happen, but I'm saying that's not
-
happening right now. But I'm still in the call and
-
the will of God. Amen. I remember when I first
-
became a Christian and my friend Nina, she's known me
-
for twenty years and she can attest to this over
-
twenty years, and I would get into the presence of
-
the Lord, and gold dust would come over my whole body,
-
oil would come from my head. But that's not happening today.
-
That was for a time and a season that I
-
needed it for. But I'm still walking in the calling
-
of God today. Amen, I want to share what I
-
believe the season of the church Big Sea Churches in
-
twenty nineteen. I had a vision here in January of
-
twenty nineteen. COVID hadn't hit yet. They were just kind
-
of talking about it, right, And I came into the
-
sanctuary and I've seen a hole in the church over
-
there on that side, and I've seen all the Christians
-
falling into this hole, and I've seen this big tree
-
and the tree just goes boo down into the middle
-
of it. My first instinct was, well, maybe that wasn't
-
from God. So I recreated that vision. I recreated that
-
vision that the whole was covered up and a big
-
tree came out of it and everybody was flourishing. March
-
that same year COVID hits, and I thought, Wow, the
-
Lord told me this was going to happen, but I
-
didn't want to believe it. Sometimes the Lord gives us
-
things that we don't understand. Until later. I learned in
-
that moment that I need to be very keen to
-
what he's telling me and what he's saying. So fast
-
forward to twenty twenty. I asked the Lord, what are
-
you doing with the church? God? And all of a sudden,
-
I see this dragon coming out of the ground, and
-
I see all these church people throwing a rug on it,
-
and I hear the Lord say there's coming a time
-
when the church can no longer hide the dragon. So
-
for five years I've been meditating on this word. What
-
does this mean? I asked people. They would try to
-
help me, but it didn't click. You know what I'm
-
saying like your nowhere knows the Holy Spirit will tell you, no,
-
this is it. Fast forward to twenty twenty five. Charlie
-
Kirk gets assassinated. We're in the car and I said
-
to my husband. I looked at him and I said,
-
I feel like, for some reason that this is the
-
vision that the Lord has been telling me. All of
-
a sudden, I got this click, this is it, this
-
is the dragon. So a couple of weeks later, me
-
and my husband are going to school. I don't know
-
if you guys know, but we attend school and our professor.
-
He's on there and he said, Jonathan Kahn, just release something.
-
And he said, I think this is so interesting what
-
you said, pastor about Charlie Kirk. Just now. He said
-
he was assassinated inn orum. The word orum means dragon.
-
I thought, I have to look this up because this
-
is true. My husband's yelling at me. It's your vision.
-
It's your vision, Angela, it's your vision. So I go
-
and I'm like any good Christian, I'm not gonna believe
-
nobody for nothing. I suggest you do the same. That's
-
for free. So I go and I look it up
-
in the House of Name city of Orm on the
-
House of Names dot com. The name is derived from
-
Ormer serpent. So then I look up Google the surname
-
Ormy and its variants. Orm is the most prominent English
-
name believed to come from the Old Norse Ormer, meaning
-
serpent or dragon. The name's journey into English usage can
-
be traced back to the Viking Age and the Dane Law,
-
the area England heavily settled by Norse invaders. The Norse
-
origin theory a personal name. The name Ormer was used
-
as a personal name in Old Norse. This tradition was
-
common among Vikings, who often took names from powerful animals,
-
like the serpent. Orm Revelations twelve seventeen says, so the
-
dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went off
-
to wage war on the rest of her children. Those
-
who keep and obey the commandments of God and have
-
the testimony of Jesus? Who are we? Who are we?
-
We are those children? We are those that bear the
-
testimony of Jesus after us. We're standing in a time
-
where we can no longer cover the dragon. We're standing
-
in a time where the Lord is saying, hey, wake up, church.
-
We're standing in a time where he says, I have
-
something for you. You have not been abandoned. So what
-
is this season? I believe we have allowed the world
-
to tell us what Christians are supposed to look like.
-
They have told us what meekness looks like. They've told
-
us what humility looks like. Do you know people will
-
call this church, cussing us out if we don't give
-
them money. This isn't what the church has been given
-
the name entitled to entitlement. We are not their entitlement.
-
We are freedom, We are righteousness, We are a holiness
-
We've allowed them to define what love is. We've allowed
-
them to define who God is. Me and my husband.
-
Me and my husband, we do marriage counseling. I love it.
-
I think I brought tissue I did praise the Lord
-
in my pocket. We love it. I don't know why.
-
I never thought that I would like marriage counseling, you know,
-
especially from what I came from, you know, But I
-
love it. One of the things that me and my
-
husband are very, very very good at, like very I
-
don't I must say, I don't know another couple who
-
can communicate as well as we do. So he was
-
in prison for five years, for those that don't know,
-
and our relationship was not built on physical touch. Our
-
relationship was built on communication. So most people they get
-
into a relationship, they're hugging and they're kissing, and that's
-
where their relationships built from. My physical touch with my
-
husband was actually him sitting across a table from me,
-
and I got to hold his hand praise the Lord,
-
and that was exciting to us. Even when he got
-
out of prison, it was weird to hug him because
-
it was not the natural right. So we're really good
-
at communication. So we figured out that We're really good
-
at marriage counseling because we know communication. And one of
-
the things that we say to all of our married
-
couples is you need to learn how to say what
-
did you mean by that? Because sometimes couples get into
-
a relationship and the husband says she's just rude and
-
she says, no, I'm not. They had two different definitions
-
of rude. He's believing that she's rude because she says this,
-
and she says, well, that's not rude. When I say that,
-
two different definitions of the same word, right, does that
-
make sense? Maybe I should do a little seminar on
-
communication one day. We have to think about the Bible
-
like this. The Bible is one sided. It's not two sided.
-
There's only one side to the Bible, and that's God's side.
-
The only definition to the Bible is God's definition. He
-
allows us to come into to unity with him. But ultimately,
-
what he says is what the definition is. If he
-
says what love is, that's literally the truth about love
-
Ephesians four twenty three through twenty four. And be renewed
-
in the spirit of your mind, and that you put
-
on the new man, which was created according to God.
-
In true righteousness and holiness. Do not think like yourself.
-
Do not put definitions on things that do not belong
-
to you. Just like those married couples. When he's saying
-
she's rude and she's saying she's not. She's the one speaking.
-
Her definition of that actually matters. She can change the
-
way she talks, but her definition is what matters. What
-
do you mean by that? Were you trying to be rude? No?
-
I was not trying to be rude. What I meant
-
was x Y right. I believe that we are in
-
a season of reformation. The way the Lord talks to
-
me is that I get a feeling inside of me,
-
and I have to translate it into words. Right, So
-
I get this feeling and I'm like, I don't I don't.
-
I don't know what this means. Like, okay, I don't
-
know what I don't understand. And we turn on the
-
on the phone one day, my husband had something on
-
and a guy starts talking and he gives us definition
-
for reformation, and I said, oh my gosh, that's it.
-
This is the season of reformation. It emphasized scripture as
-
primary teaching. Reformation restores God's people back to his original design.
-
When religion, tradition, or corruption has twisted things. We are
-
in the seasoned Church of Reformation. It's time to get
-
God's definition. Amen. Romans twelve two says, and do not
-
be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the
-
renewing of your mind, that you may prove that is
-
that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. We've
-
had many reformers over the years. Our first one is
-
Jesus Christ himself last name is not Christ. He is
-
an ultimate reformer. He confronted religious hypocrisies, tore down men,
-
made traditions, and restored people to the Father's heart. We
-
are watching The Chosen, watching the Chosen, and it's the
-
new season, right, and and I thought it was the
-
coolest thing because I had never thought about this. But
-
they're going to the Temple to they're going to the
-
Temple to sacrifice, and this is when Jesus comes to
-
toss the tables, right, And it was It was weird
-
to me because the disciples are just like, oh, yeah,
-
you can buy this over there, and you can do
-
this and you can do that, like it was normal,
-
Like this was what they were supposed to be doing.
-
It was normal. To them. You guys, it was normal.
-
We've been acting like this is normal. But Jesus is
-
coming in and tossing temple tables and saying this is
-
not the normal. This is not what we're supposed to
-
be doing. Matthew eleven thirty says, for my yoke is
-
easy and my burden is light. The Pharisees were putting
-
laws on people that were not what God had attended.
-
And the Sadducees they didn't even believe in anything miracle, signs, wonders, resurrection.
-
They did not believe in resurrection. So when Jesus came
-
on the scene, this this verse here, I know we
-
always use that, you know, like, okay, I can carry,
-
I can carry whatever the Lord's given me. But you
-
know what he's actually doing. He's reforming the church. This
-
is a verse of reformation. This is him saying, what
-
I have for you, my theology, who I am and
-
who the God, who God of Heaven is, is different
-
than the than the things that they've been putting on you.
-
He's our first reformer. Martin Luther. Can I get a
-
picture of Martin Luther? Isn't he handsome? Wow? Maiden? Yes,
-
Frank made in God's image. He sparked the Protestant Reformation
-
by calling out church corruption and teaching that salvationists by
-
faith alone, through grace alone, and Christ alone. The Catholic
-
Church we're selling prayers to people to get their loved
-
ones out of purgatory. And he said, that's not how
-
we get to Christ. This isn't right. Your guys are
-
being corrupt. So he put his ninety five thesis on
-
the door of the church. We still feel that today
-
a reformer. William Seymour, can you put that picture of
-
nineteen hundreds? Can you put up William Seymour? Please? There
-
we go. He's the leader of the Suzu Street Revival
-
in nineteen oh six, which birth the modern panicle. He
-
restored the baptism of the Holy Spirit, gifts of the Spirit,
-
and racial unity to the church. When it had left
-
the church. He came and he said, ah ah ah,
-
this is what God meant by this, this is what
-
we need. He sparked global spirit filled revival that still
-
impacts millions today. I'm running out of time, so I'm
-
running fast. There's a lot of stories I'd like to
-
tell you about all these people, but I'm just gonna
-
go okay. Mariah Woodworth's utter. She was known as the
-
Grandmother of Pentecost and my favorite woman of old time.
-
She held powerful healing and evangelistic meetings in the late
-
eighteen hundreds to nineteen hundreds. People often fell under the
-
power of the Holy Spirit. Her focus brought the supernatural
-
power of God into everyday church life, breaking through religious formalities.
-
She paved the way for the pentecost and Charismatic movements.
-
This woman had six children who died, and she still
-
ran hard for the Lord. She still didn't change her mind.
-
She couldn't even read. In her book, it says that
-
she couldn't read, and she told the Lord, I can't
-
do your will because I can't even read. And he
-
put the Bible on the wall for her and she
-
could then read, still running after the Lord. Amy Simple McPherson.
-
She was an evangelist and founder of the Four Square Church.
-
This woman eighteen ninety to nineteen forty four. She also
-
called Mariah Woodworth Utter. Her a spiritual mother. She brought
-
drama into the churches, not bad drama, as my husband said.
-
She did illustrated sermons. She was one of the first
-
women to be on radio speaking about Jesus. She had
-
large crusades. She broke barriers for women in ministry, embraced
-
modern tools for evangelism, and preached Jesus as savior, healer,
-
baptizer in the Holy Spirit, and coming King. She was
-
one of the most influential female evangelists of the twentieth century.
-
I remember Catherine Cooman saying, she said, the only reason
-
why the Lord sent me was because a man wouldn't
-
do it. Are you ready, Church? It's time for reformation.
-
There's a revival coming, believe, and the revival is the
-
Communion revival. What does that mean to me? What do
-
I think the Lord is saying in that? He's saying
-
that there's a unity coming to the Church like never
-
seen before, where we will walk beside Him and in
-
him and through him, we will have a mind of Christ.
-
The Lord wants us more closer to him than anything
-
in the whole world. That's why he died on the cross.
-
He gave us that blood so his bride could be
-
with him. And the craziest thing is he wants to
-
partner with us. There's nothing he will do on earth
-
without the partnership of his bride. He loves us that much.
-
It's unbelievable to me. The King of Kings and the
-
Lord of Lords wants to be so close to me
-
that he wants to be in me through around me.
-
It's time to listen to him. It's time to listen
-
to his definition, his definitions of what the Word is saying.
-
If this is the season God has called his church too,
-
then the next question is how do you personally step
-
into it? Because New Horizon Church cannot walk in the
-
season if the people aren't ignited to carry it. We
-
are just one church of many of the big sea.
-
He has called you for this reason and this purpose today.
-
And I know it's a cliche or we've turned it
-
into a cliche, but it's not really, because it's still
-
the word of God. But you were born for such
-
a time as this verb sixteen nine says. A man's
-
heart plans his ways, but the Lord directs his steps.
-
I want to run through a quick story, real quick.
-
Don't even put the verses up. But there's Obadiah. Elijah
-
goes to Obadiah and Ahab's the worst king in the
-
whole world. It says in the Bible he was the
-
worst king ever. So Elijah goes to Obadiah, and Obadiah says,
-
it's okay, Elijah. I hid all the prophets in a cave,
-
so Elijah has to defeat Jezebel an Ahab on his own.
-
The prophets were hidden out in a cave. How much
-
faster would Jezebel and a have been overturned if those
-
prophets were doing what they were called to do in
-
that hour? Yes, they were still called prophets, but they
-
were not moving Intoday. It's your turn. You're up to bat.
-
I know everybody's calling is different. I had a ministry
-
meeting with a couple and they said, do you even
-
want this ministry? And part of New Horizon our mission
-
is glorifying God and restoring people. I said, does this
-
ministry fit under glorifying God and restoring people? That person
-
said yes. I said, then we want it. Are you
-
walking under the mission of the Lord today? Then we
-
want it. He wants your yes today, not from the few,
-
not from the past, but today. What is your call today?
-
How are you walking today? What are you doing today?
-
What is it that He wants from you today? Because
-
you were born for such a time as this. Stop
-
looking at your future calling, Stop looking at your past calling,
-
and start walking today, because this is where he wants you.
-
This is where he's guiding you, this is where he's
-
keeping you. This is where he's going to flourish you
-
and Jesus this mighty name. Amen, hallelujah Matthew sixteen two
-
through three. He answered and said to them, when it
-
is evening, you say it will be fair weather, for
-
the sky is red, keep going, and in the morning
-
it will be foul weather today, for the sky is
-
red and threatening. Hypocrites. You know how to discern the
-
face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs
-
of the times, the signs of today. Stop looking this
-
way and stop looking that way. Let's start looking at
-
what he's got us doing today. What is this? The
-
season of reformation, the season of communion, revival, the season
-
that the dragon will now no longer be covered up,
-
The season where we will discern what the Lord is saying.
-
The season when we will get into him and we
-
will walk out our callings. Amen, don't define your calling
-
by your preferences. Your calling is not about what you
-
think it should look like. It's about what it looks
-
like to the Lord, let his vision lead, not your
-
assumptions or expectations. My assumption would be that I was
-
up here like Benny Hen and you all be going
-
boo woo. That's my assumption, that's my determination, that's my idea. Instead,
-
the Lord has me up here yelling at you, not
-
really this teasing. I love you all very much. You're
-
my favorite. Does what I'm doing right now fit the
-
season God has placed the church in. If the answer
-
is no, you're not walking and you're calling. If the
-
answer is yes, and then stop looking backwards, stop looking ahead,
-
and keep walking. Fulness today is how you reach where
-
God is taking you tomorrow. Ask the Lord his real thoughts,
-
his definition of your calling. Ask him, am I actually
-
walking and doing what you asked me to do. We
-
had a prophetic word over us, and I think I've
-
said this before, but if you've heard this before, I'm sorry,
-
but it's a great analogy. We had a me and
-
my husband had a prophetic word over us that we
-
would be leaders of leaders. In my imagination, I thought
-
I would be standing on a stage and there'd be
-
all these leaders in front of us, and we would
-
be leading the charge. It didn't look anything like it
-
does today, and I am so blessed that it doesn't,
-
because the Lord knew exactly where I was supposed to be,
-
when I was supposed to be here. He made me
-
for such a time as this. No matter you're calling.
-
If you are born in the time, in this time,
-
you were called to be a reformer, it may look
-
different for all of us, just like it looked different
-
for each reformer I mentioned. But you are called. The
-
Lord knit you the color of skin, even the color
-
of skin you are. I am white, blonde, blue eyed
-
for a reason. The way you dress, the way you talk,
-
so you can reach those that I can't reach. We
-
are reaching people that nobody else can can reach in
-
this hour, in this minute. Amen. Martin Luther was a
-
reformer for his time. William Seymour was a reformer for
-
his time. Amy Simple McPherson was a reformer for her time.
-
Mariah Woodworth utter reformer for her time, Kenneth Santiago reformer
-
for his time, Karen Connolly reformer for her time, Amaya
-
Cook reformer for her time, Tony Batress reformer for his time,
-
Morgan Dupey reformer for her time, Terry Wright reformer for
-
his time, Chelsea Weflin reformer for her time. Michael Davis
-
is a reformer for his time, and you are a
-
reformer for your time. It's time to mobilize church, get
-
up and start moving. It's time to get out of
-
the caves. It's time to get to work. Stop looking
-
behind and stop looking to the future. It's time to
-
see the perspective of the Lord. Know the season you're in,
-
and define it as the Lord defines it. Amen, Lord,
-
we thank you for today. We thank you that you
-
have called us. We thank you, Oh God, Holy Spirit.
-
We pray that you lead and you guide us every day.
-
Make our hearts soft to you, give us strength and understanding.
-
Let us see things from your perspective. Let us see
-
how you see us. Lord. I pray for those who
-
are struggling right now. Lord, lead and guide. Lord. I
-
pray for wisdom, Pray for your love, your teaching, your lord,
-
your hope. Oh God, we thank you for this, our Lord.
-
We thank you God that we were standing right where
-
we're supposed to be and the season that you have
-
called the church to Lord, and we were all born
-
for such a time as this, and Jesus Mighty name, Amen,
