  1. All right, turn your Bibles tonight at First Peter chapter

    1 Peter 3 chapter mention

  2. 3, First, Peter chapter 3, if you will.

  3. We're going to read this verse here in just a second.

  4. I'm going to split this up this lesson I'm going to split into

  5. two just because it's a little bit lengthy and it's we can

  6. definitely get too out of it as far as the amount of things that

  7. we need to talk about in this lesson.

  8. So next week, next week brother Josh and actually the next two

  9. wins. Tonights will be gone.

  10. So brother Josh is going to cover and and do a couple

  11. lessons on Wednesday night. Brother Brian's going to preach

  12. on Sunday mornings and and Sunday nights.

  13. Jason brothers, my brother-in-law is going to come

  14. up here and preach on the second Sunday night that were gone.

  15. So a good lineup for you while we're gone.

  16. And then we'll, so you'll have to remember what we talked about

  17. tonight because we're going to we're going to pick up but we're

  18. coming back in on Tuesday morning I think at 10:00 on

  19. February the 28th. So March the first is that

  20. following Wednesday so you might want to Here.

  21. There's no telling what you're going to get on that Wednesday

  22. night. But anyway, we talked last week

  23. kind of the, you know, the context, really, the brief

  24. history of the biblical fundamental movement, the

  25. biblical fundamentalist movement.

  26. And so what I want to look at tonight is a little is a little

  27. bit more of these specific truths that are under attack.

  28. In fact, let's look at our text there and I've got a lot of

  29. verses for you tonight. So as many of these as you can

  30. turn to got a lot of them up there on the screen as well.

  31. So that way. Hey, if you can't turn to all of

  32. them, there's not tons. But again, turn to it.

  33. At least you can write it down to maybe go back and look at it

  34. later. But First Peter chapter 3, and

    1 Peter 3 chapter mention

  35. verse number 15 says this, but sanctify, the Lord God in your

  36. hearts and be ready. Always to give an answer to

  37. every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in

  38. you with meekness and fear. Now we stopped we stopped a lot

  39. of time to be ready. Always to give an answer to

  40. every man. And I think that I mean, it's it

  41. fits within that context, I don't think there's anything

  42. wrong with was saying that but basically, what this Is is we

  43. have that there is an outside world, there's an unsaved world

  44. that's looking at us and if we can't articulate what we

  45. believe, if we can't articulate, what this hope is that we have

  46. then we're missing out on a huge part of what Christianity is

  47. sanctify, the Lord God in your hearts and be ready.

  48. Always to give an answer to every man that asketh asketh

  49. you. A reason of the hope that is in

  50. you with meekness and fear. So what's the message of the

  51. biblical fundamentals? What truth what what truth is

  52. worth contending for? If we're talking about

  53. contending for the faith, what are we talking about when we're

  54. talking about that? And why is it so important that

  55. we guard, ourselves and guard, our church from liberalism and

  56. rationalism and all the other isms that are out there that are

  57. threatening, the way of God's word in the Gospel of Jesus

  58. Christ? Let me, let me revisit our

  59. example or illustration from last week about the best ball,

  60. right? The basketball game, and, and

  61. the fundamentals of basketball. Are dribbling and shooting and,

  62. you know, defense and offense and a lot of different other

  63. things. And obviously, when you go back

  64. to those fundamentals, it doesn't make you a radical, it

  65. just makes you getting. It.

  66. Just means that you are a student of the game and that

  67. you're serious about making sure you're playing the game the

  68. right way. But if we go back and look at

  69. that illustration and maybe think for a minute that instead

  70. of dribbling a basketball, we decided we're going to kick the

  71. basketball instead, instead of having the who Oop at 10 feet,

  72. we're going to lower it and put it at ground level instead of

  73. having it the same width as a as the cylinder that you see on the

  74. basketball hoop, we're going to make it quite a bit bigger, and

  75. then we'll actually make the floor a little bit wider, as

  76. well, a little bit longer at a few more players.

  77. Well, you don't have basketball anymore.

  78. If soccer, right? It may resemble a few of those

  79. things because you still have the, you know, of court and you

  80. still have a basketball and you still have a thick, but you

  81. don't have basketball anymore. You have a soccer game.

  82. It's going on. And you know, there might be

  83. some slight similarities. But in actuality we've literally

  84. changed the sport by changing just a few of the simple

  85. fundamentals. And so the same thing is true

  86. when it comes to these truths that are Central to the

  87. Christian faith, so much so that when you alter them or when you

  88. vary from them or when you reinterpret them, you no longer

  89. have sure Christianity and that's exactly what we're seeing

  90. happening, really across the entire Spectrum but even And and

  91. what's probably most alarming is that you're seeing it happened,

  92. within so-called independent, fundamental Baptist Churches.

  93. There are changing the fundamentals of the faith and

  94. still trying to call themselves. Independent, fundamental Baptist

  95. at the same time, you can't have both.

  96. You may have a variation that slightly resembles Christianity,

  97. but if you've lost the central principles, then you've lost the

  98. faith. The difference is that we're not

  99. simply playing a game, right? The stakes are so much higher

  100. than we're not, we're not doing this for We're doing this for

  101. eternity. This is about truth.

  102. The Eternal Destiny of The Souls of men and women are at stake

  103. and when we if we get this wrong or if we change the fundamentals

  104. and we change what Christianity is then, there's there's a

  105. serious Eternal consequence truth is not negotiable.

  106. It's not abstract right? Truth does not change with

  107. political pressure. Does it change with secular

  108. whims? It doesn't change with cultural

  109. decline. God's truth is eternal.

  110. It's on changing. Its absolute and I mentioned

  111. this before you don't find your truth right.

  112. There is no. Well this is you know you just

  113. you just live Your Truth seeing that all over the place now.

  114. No there's Not Your Truth. There is truth and there's your

  115. opinion that's it and a lot of what people are promoting as

  116. their truth is just their opinion about the truth.

  117. And they've changed they've changed both and so on a

  118. personal level Level. This truth is very powerful and

  119. when I say personal talking about me, I'm talking about us

  120. individually. This, this truth has the power

  121. to transform your life from Darkness to light, from the

  122. power of Satan unto God. This truth will enable you to be

  123. born into gods, family, become a new creature, in Christ

  124. experience, The unsearchable Riches of God's grace, and now,

  125. and for all of eternity, Just mere words, cannot describe the

  126. importance of the divine power of these truths.

  127. The fundamentals of the faith. So what are they?

  128. Some of these are going to overlap a little bit with what

  129. we've talked about when it comes to being a Baptist.

  130. But for the most part, we're talking about what it means to

  131. be a fundamental Baptist. So almost assuming that all the

  132. things that we've already talked about, when it comes to, that

  133. whole acrostic that we've gone through.

  134. On the Baptist, distinctives are already set in place these

  135. things. Then are things that we'd find

  136. inside. So tonight, I want to give you

  137. the second or at least start the second of what we are doing in

  138. this little mini series on the offshoot of be of what it means

  139. to be a Baptist, the meaning of biblical fundamentalism.

  140. And that's what we talked about last week, but what I want to

  141. give you tonight and then in a couple weeks when we get back

  142. together on, this is the message of biblical fundamentalism or

  143. the message of the biblical fundamentalist.

  144. So number one. And I think I probably should

  145. have asked you what do you They are but then we'd be all over

  146. the all over the place and yes we're going to get to that next

  147. week and yes, that's one of them and whatever else.

  148. But the first one, if you had, if you had to guess, you'd

  149. probably all get this one right. And that is the inspiration and

  150. the authority of the scriptures, right?

  151. And we talked about that biblical Authority, that's the

  152. number one thing that makes us Baptist.

  153. We're not going off of any other Creed's or any other books or

  154. any other anything. The Bible is our final

  155. Authority. So turn over to Second Timothy

    2 Timothy 3 chapter mention

  156. Chapter 3, fundamental Christians believe that the

  157. Bible is inspired. And when I say inspired it,

  158. literally is god-breathed. Now, obviously, you know, some

  159. of the ways that we can tell who wrote the books of the Bible is

  160. that will, sometimes they say, I wrote this book and or I

  161. dictated this book and this guy wrote it, wrote it out or you

  162. know they refer to themselves is I in there and you can tell

  163. exactly who it is and then of course you see they all have

  164. different personalities and everything else.

  165. So how did God write the Bible? If If these men were actually,

  166. the ones that did it. Well the Bible says the holy men

  167. of God spake, as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

  168. So God, used their personalities.

  169. God used their writing styles. God used their lingo if you will

  170. but God gave them exactly what to write and that's what it

  171. means. When we say that the Bible is

  172. inspired and it's the only it is it only is the word of God.

  173. We believe that the Bible is to be received to be believed and

  174. to be followed Early, as the very word of God, for a Biblical

  175. fundamentalist, the word of God is the final Authority.

  176. And that's what God's that's what the Bible says about about

  177. his truth. And second Timothy chapter 3,

    2 Timothy 3 chapter mention

  178. verse number 16, all scripture is given by inspiration of God.

  179. God breathed, that's where that word.

  180. Inspiration means all scripture is given by inspiration of God,

  181. and is profitable for Doctrine for reproof for correction for

  182. instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be

  183. perfect throughly, furnished. Unto all good works.

  184. Now, Hebrews turn over to Hebrews chapter 4, Because

    Hebrews 4 chapter mention

  185. Hebrews tells us that the the word of God is more than just a

  186. book. It's not just a collection of

  187. great ideas, or great teaching, or moral codes or, you know,

  188. great Proverbs, or just a book of Psalms, you know, it is all

  189. of those things, but it's a living book.

  190. I remember hearing a story of Charles Spurgeon, one time he

  191. set the book down and he said it's alive, its alive, and he

  192. was actually almost like it was a snake or something like that.

  193. But it is. It's a, it's a Alive.

  194. It's explosively. Powerful has the ability to

  195. transform our lives and that is the reason why you can read the

  196. Bible through every single year for, you know, for your entire

  197. life and you're still going to get something new out of it.

  198. Every time you read it because it's a living book and it's God

  199. that is speaking through his word every single time you read

  200. it. It's not like you know well

  201. Jackson was Jackson easy the back I don't know how old he was

  202. probably first or Right. But he got a hold of a book or

  203. we give him a book on Pistol Pete.

  204. And I think it was like 400. And how many pages 475 Pages,

  205. something like that. And first grade second grade he

  206. read through this entire book and and then he picked it up and

  207. read it back through again. And then he picked it up and

  208. read it back to her again. And I mean, the pages are all

  209. twisted and curled and finally I said, get a different book.

  210. You can't read that one again. He's read the thing.

  211. Like four times about Pistol Pete.

  212. It's an interesting book but you know, Pete Maravich, a great

  213. testimony of being saved. Saved.

  214. And he wrote about that and that's that's kind of what the

  215. whole book was about Christ. Transformed his life.

  216. But you know it's one thing to read a book about the same

  217. person over and over and over again.

  218. It's another thing to read a living book about the same

  219. person over and over and over again.

  220. You're only going to get the same information given back to

  221. you every time you read a book about Pistol Pete.

  222. But when you read the Bible, it's a living book in the Bible

  223. says in Hebrews chapter 4 and verse number 12, by the way,

    Hebrews 4 chapter mention

  224. this ought to be what we're going for every single time we

  225. read. Bible for the word of God.

  226. Hebrews 4:12 is quick and powerful and sharper than any

    Hebrews 4:12

  227. two-edged sword piercing, even to the dividing asunder of Soul

  228. and Spirit and of the joints and Marrow and is a discerner of the

  229. thoughts and intents of the heart.

  230. Well, that's why it's a living book.

  231. He knows what we're thinking when we're reading it, he knows

  232. what the intent of our heart is when we're reading it.

  233. So he can take all of those things and apply it.

  234. Hey, when you read the Bible through when you were 15 years

  235. old, that's a whole lot different than when you ring the

  236. bell. Go through at 35, right?

  237. Your circumstances have changed. Your life is changed.

  238. A lot of things are different and because it's a living book,

  239. it can still be applied in that way.

  240. Turn over to Proverbs Chapter 30.

    Proverbs 30 chapter mention

  241. Because, in addition to this, the word of God is pure, it's

  242. perfect, it's without error. God has preserved his word for

  243. us today. I don't think there are there

  244. there are no errors in the word of God.

  245. Well, you know, they would have been better if they had said

  246. this or of hit if it had been written.

  247. Sway, right. Everything that we that critics,

  248. who claim to be errors, in the word of God or contradictions in

  249. the word of God, they're just apparent contradictions are

  250. there are there are no contradictions in the world.

  251. What it says, it says this, number in this passage, and it's

  252. talking about the exact same thing and has a different

  253. number. It's just an apparent

  254. contradiction every one of those contradictions.

  255. So so so called can be explained.

  256. But it Proverbs chapter 13, Verse number 5 says this, every

    Proverbs 13 chapter mention

  257. word of God is pure, he is a shield unto them that put their

  258. trust in him. Well there's got to be at least

  259. one other. Think about how big the Bible

  260. is, how many chapters in books and words there are in the

  261. Bible. Hey he is a shield unto them,

  262. that put their trust in him. We just have to trust that.

  263. When God says, his word is pure, his word is perfect.

  264. His word is complete. That he knows what he's talking

  265. about. It takes trust, it takes Faith

  266. because I don't know, I don't know, Hebrew and Greek.

  267. And all of these, you know, Aramaic.

  268. Like some of the books of the Bible were written in.

  269. I don't know. All of that.

  270. I don't, I don't, I can't translate the Bible from Hebrew

  271. and Greek, I just have to take my faith that God's given us his

  272. pure unadulterated perfect word. So these passages all teach very

  273. clearly that the the fact that God's word is Supernatural, it's

  274. literally given from God, to man, and it has the power to

  275. transform Our Lives. The second thing that is a

  276. fundamental of the faith is the Virgin birth.

  277. Turn over to Isaiah chapter 7. Got a couple verses here that I

    Isaiah 7 chapter mention

  278. want to look at. If you're if you get there

  279. quickly, then you can turn over to Luke chapter one as well, but

  280. the biblical fundamentalist believes that Jesus Christ was

  281. born of a virgin and this is not just, oh, that's cruel.

  282. You know? That's, that's pretty

  283. interesting. He was born of a virgin.

  284. It's absolutely necessary for Jesus Christ to be born of a

  285. virgin and we'll talk about why in just a second.

  286. But let's look at a couple verses here that make it very

  287. plain, that that's what the Bible is talking about.

  288. Or that that this is a fundamental of the faith.

  289. Isaiah 7 verse 14. Therefore the Lord himself shall

    Isaiah 7:14

  290. give you a sign. Behold, a virgin shall conceive

  291. and bear a son and shall call his name Immanuel.

  292. That's a miracle, right? A virgin cannot conceive.

  293. Luke chapter 1, Luke chapter 1 and verse number 26.

Luke 1 chapter mention Luke 1 chapter mention

  294. And this is the story of Gabriel coming to marry.

  295. And telling her that she is going to give birth to Jesus

  296. Christ. But in Luke 1:26, And the sixth

    Luke 1:26

  297. month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of

  298. Galilee named Nazareth to a virgin, espoused to a man, whose

  299. name was Joseph of the House of David.

  300. And the virgin's name was Mary. Now this is really interesting.

  301. I don't want to get into too much because I'm going to plan

  302. on doing this when we get back from our trip but obviously been

  303. doing a lot of study on Israel. Do you know that that the city

  304. of Nazareth was only a population of about 400 people?

  305. Very, very tiny. I mean, you think about 400

  306. people have that many people that live, you know, within you

  307. know, quarter of a mile of this place and as Earth was very,

  308. very small. And so and that's why even to

  309. think of said, can any good thing come out of Nazareth?

  310. I think that's one of the reasons why it was just such a

  311. tiny backward, a little place, you know, but one of the, one of

  312. the many reasons and we're going to, we're going to do a series

  313. on this, at some point, maybe this year, if not, then maybe

  314. beginning of next. But one of the many reasons that

  315. that our church and And me, personally, use the King James

  316. version of the Bible. Is it carefully protects the

  317. great fundamental doctrines of the word of God?

  318. Like the Virgin birth. You start changing words, words

  319. mean things and things that are different.

  320. Cannot be the same. We start changing words.

  321. You start changing doctrines. And this is a perfect example of

  322. that. In several of these modern

  323. translations Mary is referred to as a young woman.

  324. Rather than a virgin, and there's a great difference

  325. between a young woman and a virgin, right?

  326. If Jesus is born of a young woman, that's not Supernatural.

  327. People are born of young women all the time.

  328. Being born of a virgin is something that's super natural

  329. and has only happened once and that's what Jesus Christ.

  330. So the Virgin birth of Christ is foundational to the Christian

  331. faith. You take rationalism and

  332. liberalism and what they do is they take away the supernatural

  333. incarnation of God. God God becoming man.

  334. That's what the Incarnation is by just reducing married to this

  335. young woman and Jesus to the Natural offspring of another

  336. man, right. That thinking reduces Jesus from

  337. a perfect Eternal only begotten, son of The Only Living God into

  338. just some mere mortal man who simply happen to have a keen

  339. understanding and and maybe a good teaching style, right?

  340. That it changes everything because of Jesus was born.

  341. Born through the lineage of a sinful man.

  342. The Bible says wherefore as by one man sin entered into the

  343. world and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men for

  344. that. All have sinned.

  345. Then Jesus is in that same line and he is a sinful man just like

  346. we are If Jesus was not virgin born, then he did, he's no

  347. different than us and he doesn't have the ability and the power

  348. to take away our sins either. So the Christian life is not a

  349. philosophy, it's a faith. It's not the product of a good

  350. teacher who lived a couple thousand years ago and happened

  351. to suffer this. This tragic death at the hands

  352. of the Roman authorities as this is something so much bigger than

  353. that, because the Christian Life is a vibrant relationship with a

  354. living resurrected savior. Who was born Not of man, it was

  355. born of God, he was 100% God In the Flesh.

  356. Jesus didn't have the sinful bloodline of an Earthly father

  357. flowing through his veins. If he had, he would not have

  358. been able to forgive our sins. He was he was born of God.

  359. His bloodline was pure, his bloodline was wholly.

  360. His bloodline was perfect without that Scarlet thread of

  361. Truth. The entire tapestry of the

  362. Gospel of the word of God falls apart This virgin birth is

  363. absolutely a fundamental of our faith Turner.

  364. The First Peter chapter 1, because number three, another

    1 Peter 1 chapter mention

  365. fundamental of our faith. Is the blood atonement?

  366. And by that, I mean that fundamental Christians believe

  367. the blood of Jesus Christ is the complete and full atonement for

  368. the sins of every man. Jesus Christ had to shed his

  369. blood, he had to shed his blood on the cross.

  370. He couldn't have been killed by hanging.

  371. He couldn't have been killed by, you know, strangling or

  372. something like that. He had to hit blood had to be

  373. shed first. Peter 1:18 makes it very clear.

    1 Peter 1:18

  374. For as much as you know, that you were not redeemed with

  375. corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversation

  376. received by tradition from your father's, but with the precious

  377. blood of Christ as of a lamb, without blemish, and without

  378. spot. And we start looking at at these

  379. verses that we find in the New Testament that describe that

  380. boy, it gives a whole new picture to what we find in the

  381. Old Testament of all the sacrifices, and all of those

  382. things that were done, they were just a picture of what was

  383. coming in the New Testament without the shedding.

  384. Eating of blood. The Bible says, there is no

  385. remission. So if Jesus was just, you know,

  386. hanged by the neck until you know until dead, then his blood

  387. he would not have shed blood and there would be no remission for

  388. those sins. So, a lot of pseudo, Christian

  389. religions, teach a sort of partial atonement.

  390. In other words, they claim to believe that Jesus blood paid

  391. for our sins, but then they add Works to that atonement.

  392. A Jesus had to die on the cross. Yes, he had to die on the cross,

  393. but then we also have Fill in the blank.

  394. I mean, they had all kinds of other things to it, you know, we

  395. also have to confess our sins every week, we also have to, you

  396. know, do communion. We also have to make a

  397. pilgrimage to the holy land or, you know, any number of things

  398. that they say that has to be done in order to to have sins

  399. forgiven as though, Jesus, Paid, partially for our sins and we

  400. have to make up the rest of that payment by doing things on our

  401. own. Well, that that's not, that's

  402. not atonement, that's not the remission of sins and that

  403. cheapens the death 'The cheapens the blood of Jesus Christ.

  404. I heard a pastor tell his story that he was witnessing to a man.

  405. And he shared this, this principle of the full atonement.

  406. Jesus Christ died on the cross and shed his blood and his blood

  407. pays for our sins. And he said to this pastor, he

  408. said, I've always thought of my relationship with Christ as a

  409. 50/50 relationship. He did his part of the Cross,

  410. but I still have to do my part to earn that payment for my sin.

  411. He said, if I'm understanding you correctly, you're saying

  412. that it's 100% Christ and 0% me. And the best.

  413. Is that, absolutely? That's what it is.

  414. It doesn't have anything to do with me.

  415. I can't work my way to heaven. I can't earn my way to heaven.

  416. There's nothing that I can do. Let alone must do to earn my

  417. salvation. Jesus didn't make a partial

  418. payment on the cross. He made a full payment for our

  419. sins, and that's why he cried it is finished.

  420. What is he talking about when he said it is finished, that

  421. atonement, that sacrifice that full payment for our sins, turn

  422. over to Romans chapter 3? Three.

    Romans 3 chapter mention

  423. That's why the Bible teaches. That Jesus is the propitiation

  424. for our sins. You know what that word

  425. propitiation means. It means a full payment.

  426. He was the full payment for our sins.

  427. Romans chapter 3 and verse 25 says this.

    Romans 3 chapter mention

  428. Whom God, hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in

  429. his blood, to declare his righteousness.

  430. For the remission of sins that are past through the forbearance

  431. of God now, turn on the first John F to that.

  432. I want you to see there. In first John first, John,

    John 2 chapter mention

  433. chapter 2 1st, John chapter 2. Jesus Christ had to die on the

    John 2 chapter mention

  434. cross. His blood had to be shed in

  435. order to pay for our sins had. We not sinned.

  436. Jesus Christ, never would have had to die.

  437. Obviously, you knew that Adam was going to say.

  438. He knew that that that sin was going to be passed from one

  439. person to the next, and he knew that Jesus was going to have to

  440. die. Just in his foreknowledge.

  441. He knew that but had we never said, he never would have had to

  442. die. There was nothing that he would

  443. have had to die for right first, John chapter 2 and verse number

    John 2 chapter mention

  444. 2 and he is the propitiation Ian for our sins, the full payment

  445. for our sins, and not for ours, only, but also for the sins of

  446. the whole world. Go, a couple of chapters later

  447. in chapter 4, first John first, John chapter 4 and verse number

    John 4 chapter mention

  448. 10. Herein is love not that, we

  449. loved God, but that he loved us. And sent his son to be the

  450. propitiation for our sins. Jesus Christ.

  451. Had to die on the cross to pay for our sins had we not sin, he

  452. never would have had to die. There is nothing that we can do

  453. to earn it, there's nothing that that, we must do to earn it.

  454. It's 100% Jesus and 0% me. Now in addition to that, there

  455. are some groups that teach that the blood of Jesus Christ was

  456. not Significant to our Redemption.

  457. Turnover Hebrews chapter 9, I kind of alluded to this already

    Hebrews 9 chapter mention

  458. but they D emphasize the blood. They say that that it was his

  459. death alone that paid for our sins.

  460. The problem with that is that the Bible?

  461. Very clearly tells us in Hebrews chapter 9 and verse 22.

    Hebrews 9 chapter mention

  462. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood.

  463. And without shedding of blood is no remission.

  464. How do you get around that? How do you how do you say that?

  465. Well, he didn't have to shed blood, he just had to die on the

  466. cross or he just had to die without the shedding of blood.

  467. There is no remission turn over to Acts chapter 20.

    Acts 20 chapter mention

  468. God has said throughout the Bible that death by the shedding

  469. of blood is the payment for sin and it's for that reason that

  470. Jesus became the ultimate perfect sinless sacrifice for

  471. all sins for all time. When he died and he shed his

  472. perfect blood on the cross. His blood became the full

  473. payment for our sins once and for all.

  474. So I will need to be saved. Once don't need to be saved over

  475. and over and over and over again.

  476. Jesus died once for the full payment of our sins for the

  477. Appreciation of our sins is what the Bible says in Acts chapter

    Acts 20 chapter mention

  478. 20, verse number 28, take heed, therefore unto yourselves and to

  479. all the flock over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you

  480. overseers to feed the Church of God, which he hath purchased

  481. with his own death. No, it doesn't say that does it

  482. but you have purchased, with his own blood, his blood being shed

  483. was necessary. Romans chapter 5, Romans chapter

Romans 5 chapter mention Romans 5 chapter mention

  484. 5, and verse number 9. It's a lot more scriptures about

  485. the importance of the blood of Jesus Christ.

  486. I think I meant to give them to you as a list because I'm not

  487. going to take the time to read it, but I do want to, I do want

  488. to read Romans chapter 5, and verse number 9.

    Romans 5 chapter mention

  489. But he says this much more than being now justified by his blood

  490. we shall be saved from wrath through him.

  491. There's a lot more scriptures that talk about the importance

  492. of the blood of Jesus Christ. Given to you quickly if you're

  493. writing these down but he fission is chapter 1 and verse

    Isaiah 1 chapter mention

  494. number 7, Colossians chapter, 1 and verse number 14, Ephesians

    Ephesians 1:7

  495. 1:7, Colossians 1 14, Hebrews, 9:12 through 14, verse John 17,

  496. Revelation, 1:5 Revelation 7:14. 12:11.

    Revelation 7:14

  497. He was 1224, lots of other verses are.

  498. If you want that list I'll give him to you later.

  499. But I mean there's a lot of verses that talk about the blood

  500. of Jesus Christ and the fact that he shed that blood for the

  501. remission of our sins biblical fundamentalist do not believe in

  502. Salvation by works. We don't believe in Salvation by

  503. baptism. We don't believe in Salvation by

  504. religious practice. We don't believe in partial

  505. atonement. We stand on the word of God that

  506. Jesus blood is the only and the full payment.

  507. For the sins of mankind. Number four, we got a good

  508. handful of verses here, most of them in the Book of John so if

  509. you want to turn over to John chapter 20 and you can stay

    John 20 chapter mention

  510. there. If you do, if you can't turn

  511. very quickly but number four is the deity of Jesus Christ.

  512. When I say the deity of Jesus Christ, what do I mean by that

  513. somebody, somebody want to tell me.

  514. Miss Barbara. Yeah everybody.

  515. Jesus Is God right? The deity of Jesus Christ.

  516. Now if Jesus was not God that he couldn't do what he did and

  517. shedding his blood and pain for mankind and all this stuff.

  518. There's been plenty of people who have died as a martyr in

  519. their faith, right? I mean, you look at almost any

  520. cult you can think of, or I mean, Joseph Smith died as a

  521. martyr for his faith, right? There's a lot of people who have

  522. died as a martyr. Artur, well, Jesus did the exact

  523. same thing. He died as a martyr for his

  524. faith. If that's how you see him,

  525. right? He's not just the same as just,

  526. some Martyrs who died for the cause he was God, and that's

  527. where we talk about the deity of Jesus Christ.

  528. Some people believe that he was a good teacher.

  529. He was a man with, with Keen Insight, he was this profound

  530. philosopher. Some people especially the Jews

  531. in a lot of cases would look at him.

  532. Actually, it's very interesting. And I say this as Religious

  533. zealot, but you know, the Jews. Don't even recognize Jesus at

  534. all. He's not it to them.

  535. He wasn't just this good teacher, or this philosopher or

  536. anything like that, he's nothing to them.

  537. They don't even they. It's very, very interesting.

  538. They don't even know who Jesus is at all.

  539. But the reason that this doesn't make sense, is that Jesus

  540. claimed to be God In the Flesh, right?

  541. That's one of the reasons why the Jews crucified him in the

  542. first place, he was claiming to be God.

  543. So he can't be this good man. This great philosopher.

  544. That's good teacher, but not be God at the same time, right?

  545. Because that's what he claimed to be.

  546. He claimed to be God. If he was not God, that he was

  547. the biggest fraud that's ever lived in history.

  548. Not some good man, not some good teacher, not some great

  549. philosopher, and all these other things, he was, he was too wise.

  550. He was true and pure to be a lunatic, right?

  551. He wasn't crazy. But most of his followers died

  552. for what he taught and for what they experienced as he as he led

  553. them personally, right? And that's the other thing you

  554. think about too. And I don't want to get

  555. sidetracked with this but you know the whole idea that they

  556. said well the disciples came and stole his body.

  557. You can maybe get away with that hopes for a while.

  558. But you know what happened? Was every single one of the

  559. disciples they were all tortured and martyred for what they

  560. believed about Jesus. I mean, you know, if you're

  561. trying to carry out a hoax, you're going to go, you'll go

  562. far with it, but you're not going to go to the point where

  563. you're willing to die for a hoax, right?

  564. They saw too much and they knew too much personally about Jesus

  565. for them to believe that it was just some hope.

  566. Folks that they were trying to pull off or something like that,

  567. but biblical fundamentalist, take this day in.

  568. Once again, with the Bible on this issue, we believe that

  569. Jesus Christ was and is literally God, we believe that

  570. Jesus was God in a body. God, In the Flesh.

  571. Come down to earth to seek and to save that, which was lost you

  572. and me, here's some biblical reasons why we believe in the

  573. deity of Jesus Christ. Number one, Thomas referred to

  574. Jesus Christ as God. Now I know.

  575. You know, anybody can say anything but I think this is an

  576. interesting thing. And interesting point here in

  577. John chapter 20 and verse, 28, Thomas answered, and said to

    John 20 chapter mention

  578. him, my Lord and my God, that was after he had done.

  579. What stuck his fingers in the nail hole.

  580. Stuck, his stuck, his hand in the in the spear hole if you

  581. will. And he said, wow, this really

  582. you really are. This really is my Lord and my

  583. god well Thomas is one thing but it's completely different.

  584. When the heavenly father refers to Jesus Christ, as God we see

  585. in Hebrews, 1:8 course we have in the gospels as well.

  586. You know, this is my beloved Son in whom I'm well pleased hear.

  587. Ye him. That was at the baptism of

  588. Jesus, right? We have all of those passages

  589. that we could look at. But I think this one in Hebrews

  590. is pretty interesting but unto the son, he saith thy.

  591. This is God obviously talking unto the son he saith thy Throne

  592. o God. Is forever and ever.

  593. A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom.

  594. God is calling the sun god. That's about as clear as it can

  595. get that. God, the Father himself is

  596. referring to Jesus Christ as God.

  597. Don't have a first. Timothy 3:16.

    1 Timothy 3:16

  598. Keep your finger there and John, because we're coming back to it.

  599. But first Timothy 3:16 the scripture refers to Jesus as

    1 Timothy 3:16

  600. God, and I'm just pulling one verse out here.

  601. There's lots of verses that talk about these things.

  602. We could that we could, we could point to, but for the sake of

  603. time, I'm just going to a couple of them here without

  604. controversy. First, Timothy 3:16 great is the

  605. mystery of godliness God was manifest.

  606. Fest in the flesh. God was manifest In the Flesh.

  607. Justified in the spirit seen of angels preached unto the

  608. Gentiles believed on, in the world received up into Glory.

  609. Well, who's it talking about? Jesus Christ, right?

  610. But the Bible, very plainly calls him.

  611. God, John 1:1 is another one. In the beginning was the word.

    John 1:1

  612. The word was with God and the Word was God.

  613. Who's the word, Jesus? Right.

  614. By the way, the Mormon bible says the word was a god changes.

  615. The meeting that simple, tiny little single letter, A changes,

  616. the entire meaning of not just that verse, but the entire

  617. Bible, with one single letter, tell me that it's not important.

  618. When you start changing things in the word of God, and changing

  619. versions, and everything else, in the beginning was the word

  620. and the Word was with God. And the Word was God.

  621. The scripture says he was God. Now here's another thing.

  622. Then is Christ himself claimed to be God, turn over to back to

  623. John chapter 10. I've got several references here

    John 10 chapter mention

  624. at John, that we're going to try to cover quickly here.

  625. John 10, verse number 30. I and my father are one.

  626. Wow. No wonder they, they crucified

  627. him, right? They didn't.

  628. They didn't believe that. They didn't believe that he was

  629. the Messiah, but that is, that's some powerful powerful words.

  630. I and my father are one. I mean, could you imagine if I

  631. came in here and said, yeah, I mean God or equal.

  632. You know, I've been that that that's, that's blasphemy, that's

  633. why they said, That because they didn't believe that Jesus was

  634. the Messiah and believe that he was God and all those other

  635. things, but Jesus Christ himself said I and my father are one.

  636. John chapter 5 verse number 17, John 5:17, but Jesus answered

John 5 chapter mention John 5:17

  637. them. My father, worketh hitherto and

  638. I work. Therefore, the Jews sought the

  639. more to kill him because he not only had broken the Sabbath, but

  640. said also that God was his father making himself equal with

  641. God. Well, John chapter 12 verse

    John 12 chapter mention

  642. number 45 is another one. John chapter 12 and verse number

    John 12 chapter mention

  643. 45, and he that seeketh me see, if him that sent me well who

  644. sent him God the father right for God.

  645. So loved the world that he gave his only begotten son.

  646. So God, the Father sent Jesus Christ to this earth.

  647. And Jesus is saying, if you seen me, you've seen God He's called

  648. himself God. John chapter 14.

    John 14 chapter mention

  649. We'll just look at one more for the sake of time.

  650. John chapter 14 and verse number 9.

    John 14 chapter mention

  651. Jesus, saith unto him. Have I been so long with you and

  652. yet hast thou not known me, Philip he.

  653. That hath seen me. Hath?

  654. Seen the father and how sayest thou, then Shew us the father.

  655. Believe you sell, not that I am in the father and the father in

  656. me, the words that I speak unto you.

  657. I speak not of myself, but the father that dwelleth in me, he

  658. doeth The Works. Believe me, that I am in the

  659. father and the father in me or else believe me for the very

  660. Works sake. You saying you've seen you, if

  661. you've seen me and you've watched me Worked and you've

  662. seen God and you've watched him work.

  663. He's doing those Works through me.

  664. I am God. That's that's huge.

  665. But a single Doctrine. This single Doctrine really is a

  666. key litmus test for the false religions.

  667. Who do they say? Jesus is.

  668. Most of them, at the very least, downplay, the deity of Jesus

  669. Christ. Some of them out, not say that

  670. he's not God at all. Christians who believe the Bible

  671. literally have always stood for the doctrine that Jesus Christ

  672. is God. Let me cover one more tonight.

  673. It's pretty quick turn over to Acts chapter one more than

  674. anything. I just want to read a few

  675. passages and then we'll be done. Number five is the bodily.

  676. Resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe in the bodily.

  677. Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Acts chapter 1 and verse number

    Acts 1 chapter mention

  678. 2 until the day in which he was taken up after that.

  679. He through the Holy Ghost hath, given Commandments unto the

  680. apostles whom he had chosen to mall.

  681. So he showed himself alive after his Passion, by many infallible

  682. proofs being seen of them forty days.

  683. And speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of

  684. God, the proofs of the resurrection of Jesus Christ are

  685. many. He was on this Earth for 40 days

  686. after he resurrected after he rose from the dead but he was

  687. literally seen by over 500 people for 40 days after he

  688. resurrected, right? He personally 8 and spoke with

  689. the disciples in the Roman authorities of the Jewish

  690. leaders. Worked hard to cover up his

  691. resurrection. But the verse that we just read

  692. actually states that he showed himself Alive by many

  693. infallible, proofs showed himself to Great, crowds of

  694. people, Jesus Christ showed himself alive.

  695. After his death, went to look at two more passages.

  696. The Bible is very clear that Jesus literally Rose from the

  697. Not just that his Spirit was seen around not his ghost.

  698. He literally rose from the dead. Matthew chapter 28, Matthew

Matthew 28 chapter mention Matthew 28 chapter mention

  699. chapter 28 and Luke chapter 24 and then we'll be done.

    Luke 24 chapter mention

  700. Matthew chapter 28 verse number 9, and as they went to tell his

    Matthew 28 chapter mention

  701. disciples behold. Jesus met them saying all hail

  702. and they came and held him by the feet and worshiped him then

  703. said Jesus unto them. Be not Afraid.

  704. Go tell my brother and that they go into Galilee and there shall

  705. they see me verse 11 now? When they were going behold,

  706. some of the watch came into the City and show it unto the chief

  707. priests. All the things that were done

  708. and when they were assembled with the elders and had taken

  709. counsel, they gave a large money under the soldiers saying, say

  710. ye his disciples came by by night and stole him away while

  711. we slept. And if this come to the

  712. governor's ears, we will persuade him and secure you.

  713. So they took the money and did as they were taught.

  714. And this saying is commonly reported into the Jew among the

  715. Jews unto this day, right? They bought the soldiers off.

  716. Now, this is this is really interesting to me because if a

  717. soldier was found sleeping on the job, the pennant, the

  718. penalty for sleeping on the job was death.

  719. If they knew that the disciples had come and taken the body.

  720. If they knew that this whole thing was a hoax, why would they

  721. have told the soldiers? Hey, we know you were sleeping

  722. on the job. We know that that you are worthy

  723. of death, but instead of putting you to death, we're going to

  724. give you money here, take this money and just say that they

  725. came and took him in the middle of the night.

  726. Alright, Luke chapter 24. To the world.

    Luke 24 chapter mention

  727. This is a ridiculous. Thought a man literally rising

  728. from the dead, right? Liberal Scholars constantly are

  729. trying to rationalize away. The resurrection by saying that

  730. Jesus wasn't really dead or by accepting the lie that the

  731. disciples stole his body. There's what's known as the

  732. Swoon Theory. The Spoon Theory is that for

  733. those three days, Jesus was not actually dead.

  734. He was just kind of in a coma so he didn't rise from the dead.

  735. He came out of the grave but he wasn't actually dead, right?

  736. But the facts are Are undeniable that stone was rolled away.

  737. The Roman government was greatly disturbed by this occurrence,

  738. the followers of Jesus Christ, after that were willing to die

  739. for that which they were eyewitnesses to.

  740. Well, Luke chapter 24 verse number one, now upon the first

    Luke 24 chapter mention

  741. day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the

  742. Sepulchre bringing the spices, which they had prepared, and

  743. certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled

  744. away from the Sepulchre and they entered in and found.

  745. Not the body of the Lord Jesus. By the way, the way they All

  746. these Stones was sealed not in an entrance, it was sealed over

  747. the entire doorway. There's no way that you could

  748. have gotten to that seal from the inside.

  749. Unless you were strong enough to knock that whole Stone over.

  750. Well it wasn't knocked over. It was rolled back right?

  751. Verse verse, number 4, verse number 3 and they entered in and

  752. found out the body of the Lord Jesus and it came to pass as

  753. they were much perplexed. Thereabout behold, two men stood

  754. by them in shining garments and as they were afraid and bow down

  755. their faces to the Earth, With they said unto them.

  756. Why seek ye the living among the dead?

  757. He's not here. He's risen.

  758. Remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee

  759. saying the son of man must be delivered into the hands of

  760. sinful, men, and be crucified and the third day rise again.

  761. And they remembered his words see that the followers of Jesus

  762. Christ, knew that they had seen the literal resurrected body of

  763. Jesus Christ. And that's why they were willing

  764. to go all the way to the death. For this message, the first

  765. century world was turned completely upside down by this,

  766. this event, this historic event, Jesus Christ, rising from the

  767. dead and more importantly. This event really is the

  768. Cornerstone of the Christian faith because a bible-believing

  769. Christian who is fundamental in his Doctrine will always contain

  770. for the bodily. Resurrection of Jesus Christ,

  771. you can go find the graves of Buddha and Joseph Smith and all

  772. of these other guys who claim to be leaders of what's now

  773. worldwide. Religions You can see their

  774. graves. Jesus is grave even though they

  775. don't know exactly where it is, although they think they know

  776. now has nothing in it and there's a reason why because he

  777. didn't see didn't stay in there for long.

  778. He only borrowed it for a couple days and then he came up out of

  779. that grave and that was the end of it.

  780. That was, that was the beginning of the, the message of the

  781. gospel. And that's something that that's

  782. so special. That we have that.

  783. No other religion in the world has Jesus Christ.

  784. Rose from the dead and the bodily.

  785. Resurrection. Of Jesus Christ is one of those

  786. fundamentals of the faith will talk about a few more when we

  787. get back together next time. But I encourage you to be here

  788. next week, brother. Josh, I've heard preaches a lot

  789. better. When there's more people here,

  790. so the type of message you get depends on how many people are

  791. in the auditorium next week. So come on in and be a part of

  792. that pray for us while we're gone as well.

  793. Just for safety. You never know what could

  794. happen, especially over there. The I'm sure you've heard about

  795. the The. Earthquake that happened and

  796. it's not all that far from where we are going to be the land of

  797. Israel and all this stuff is kind of on the southwestern

  798. corner of the Mediterranean Sea. And where this earthquake

  799. happened is really in the, in the, in the northwest corner of

  800. the Mediterranean Sea, right up in that area.

  801. So, it's in turkey and Syria kind of where they, where they

  802. meet. It's it's, you know, I mean,

  803. it's a decent little hike from where we're going to be but not

  804. all that far. So Anything Could Happen,

  805. obviously that area is a hotbed too.

  806. Right now with all the the tension between the Muslims and

  807. the Jews and all that stuff. So I know people go there all

  808. the time and you know, they come out of there just fine but just

  809. just pray for us while we're gone.

  810. And I'm looking forward to seeing what we're going to see

  811. over there. And then being able to show you

  812. I think it's going to open up the Bible in a whole new way and

  813. betting on how everything goes maybe within I don't know 3

  814. years or so we'll try to put it together a trip and get

  815. everybody over there. Who wants to go?

  816. But we'll see what happens. Lord willing, let's pray.

  817. And then we'll be done for tonight.

  818. Father, we love you again. We thank you for your word.

  819. I thank you for the fundamentals of the faith.

  820. I pray that no matter what culture says, no matter what

  821. society says, no matter what other churches are doing to help

  822. us to stand for the truth of the word of God that we wouldn't

  823. waiver we wouldn't bend and that we'd be found faithful.

  824. When you come back I'll pray that you just give us a good

  825. week, the rest of the week and thank you for all you do in

  826. Jesus name. Amen.

  827. Father, we love you again. We thank you for your word.

  828. I thank you for the fundamentals of the faith.

  829. I pray that no matter what culture says, no matter what

  830. society says, no matter what other churches are doing to help

  831. us to stand for the truth of the word of God that we wouldn't

  832. waiver we wouldn't bend and that we'd be found faithful.

  833. When you come back I'll pray that you just give us a good

  834. week, the rest of the week and thank you for all you do in

  835. Jesus name. Amen.
