  1. All right. I got worried there.

  2. I thought everybody was getting tired of Jonah, so they didn't

  3. come for Sunday school. Go ahead and turn in your Bibles

  4. to Jonah chapter 3, Jonah chapter 3, and we'll start in.

Jonah 3 chapter mention Jonah 3 chapter mention

  5. Verse 5. We're towards the end.

  6. This is lesson 10 of 13 SO. After today we got.

  7. Three more weeks. A Jonah.

  8. And then we'll be done with Jonah.

  9. But I want to. Look at the.

  10. Process of justification. Is what we see here in chapter 3

  11. verse. 5. Start in verse five.

  12. So the people of Nineveh. Believed.

  13. God and proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth from the.

  14. Greatest of them? Even to the least of them.

  15. For the word. Came under the king of Nineveh,

  16. and he arose from the throne, and he laid his robe from him,

  17. and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

  18. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through

  19. Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let

  20. neither man nor beast heard, nor flock taste anything.

  21. Let them not feed nor drink water.

  22. Now that's a. Fast.

  23. No, now you can't even have water.

  24. Talk about a fast right there, but let.

  25. Man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto

  26. God. Yeah, let them turn everyone

  27. from his evil way and from the violence that is in it in their

  28. hands who can. Tell if God.

  29. Will turn and repent and turn away from his fierce anger that

  30. we perish not and God. Saw their works that they.

  31. Turned from their evil. Way.

  32. And God repented of the. Evil that he had said that he

  33. would do. Unto them and he did it not.

  34. God is always. Looking for a repentant Sinner?

  35. He's always looking. Oh, there's a fan.

  36. I was like, I put my hand down. Here, and I'll say it was cold.

  37. Hold on, that's going to screw me.

  38. That feels weird. All right, sorry.

  39. I put my hand down. It got cold for a second.

  40. Anyways, God is. Always looking for a repentant

  41. Sinner. He's always looking like.

  42. We've talked about the the prodigal.

  43. Son and the Father. He's always.

  44. Looking for his son and daughter to return.

  45. He's also looking for the Sinner that's lost to come home.

  46. God made everyone. God made the lost and the saved.

  47. So just because they're saved. And coming home.

  48. Doesn't make that relationship any more important than a Sinner

  49. coming home. God is looking.

  50. For his. Children to come home, Micah,

  51. 718, says. Who is?

  52. A God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passes

  53. by the transgression of the remnant.

  54. Of his heritage he. Retaineth not his anger.

  55. Forever because he delighteth. In Mercy.

  56. God. Delights in mercy.

  57. But repentance is more than just kneeling down and saying I'm

  58. sorry for everything I did. The repentance is more than just

  59. a one time prayer. Please.

  60. Forgive me Lord of blanket everything, I'm not going to

  61. change, but please forgive me of those sins.

  62. And Pastor said it many times. When we do the Lord's Supper of

  63. of taking. The Lord's Supper unworthily,

  64. and he talks. About.

  65. How Judas was there? At the table.

  66. Even says is it I? And and kisses him and does

  67. everything and sounds like he's just one of the other disciples.

  68. But we know. In his heart, he's.

  69. Just going about to go out. And to portray Jesus.

  70. There's a difference between lip service and a heart service.

  71. There's a change in your life and that's what repentance is.

  72. It's a change. It's not a.

  73. Oops, I got. Caught sorry, forgive me and I'm

  74. just. Going to keep going and doing

  75. what I've been doing. It's a.

  76. Change of direction you. Know that what you did.

  77. Is wrong and it is sin, and you ask for forgiveness, not just so

  78. that you can get that sin cleansed.

  79. But that you. Change your direction.

  80. You're not walking in the same. Direction.

  81. Proverbs 2813 says. He that covereth his.

  82. Sins shall not. Prosper, but.

  83. Whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

  84. So I want to look at this. Justification.

  85. What? What did Nineveh?

  86. Do that, God said after God has said.

  87. In chapter 1, arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and

  88. cry up against it, for their wickedness is come up before me,

  89. so much so that I'm going to destroy it in 40.

  90. Days to, then at. The end of chapter 3 and God saw

  91. their. Works that they had.

  92. Turned from their evil way and God repented.

  93. Of the evil that he had said he would do unto.

  94. Them. What change that made God?

  95. Go. I forgive you.

  96. And I'm going to change what I'm going to do for you.

  97. It's this. Justification that not just.

  98. The loss has the. Ability to do.

  99. I think a lot of Christians. Need to learn from?

  100. It this example of what Nineveh? Did to get.

  101. Right with God. Let's pray and we'll get into

  102. the lesson. Heavenly Father, I thank you for

  103. this morning. God, I thank you for this week

  104. that you've given us the the protection that you.

  105. Gave us the the opportunities to talk about you.

  106. I pray that you help us to. Listen.

  107. To our classes. This morning and listen to your

  108. word and what you have for each and every one of us.

  109. God, I pray that through your word, we.

  110. See what Nineveh did to get a hold of your attention.

  111. To get a hold. Of your heart to understand that

  112. there's a judgment coming because of our sin and that even

  113. though. We're saved.

  114. There's still a punishment, and it may not be hell, but it it's

  115. punishment here and I. Pray that we learn.

  116. From Nineveh, from this. Example that you've.

  117. Given us of an entire city being able to turn from their wicked.

  118. Way and be. Able to get forgiveness for

  119. their sins. I pray that we we take it as an

  120. example. Of how we should deal with our.

  121. Sin and how? We should deal with.

  122. Getting right with you, I pray. That you be glorified.

  123. Through it all, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

  124. Job said it asked this. Question in job 9, how should a

  125. man be? Just with God later.

  126. On in chapter 20. Five, he says.

  127. How? Then can man be?

  128. Justified with God. Or how can he be clean that is

  129. born of a woman, behold even to the moon, and it shineth not?

  130. Yeah, the. Stars are not pure in his sight.

  131. How much less, man? That is a worm.

  132. And the Son of Man, which is a. Worm.

  133. You see, our only hope of ever finding forgiveness from.

  134. God is through Christ. Romans. 51 says therefore.

  135. Being justified by faith. We have peace with.

  136. God through our Lord Jesus Christ, so the.

  137. First thing we see there in. Chapter 3, verse 5 is so the

  138. people. Of Nineveh believed God.

  139. Notice they didn't say they believed Jonah what he was

  140. telling. Them was true, they went to the

  141. source of the problem. They went to the.

  142. Source of their solution. And it was God.

  143. Faith is the first. Thing that starts in an

  144. unbeliever. Faith is the first.

  145. Thing that gets somebody to realize my sin and I I have a

  146. sin problem. I have a sin nature and yes,

  147. it's with my. Fellow brother, but it's.

  148. Ultimately with God, that's. Who I I.

  149. Have my account. Recorded against is God.

  150. Not to those around us, not to. Our family, our friends and

  151. stuff that we. Sin against and and those that

  152. we don't even know. But it's to God.

  153. Ultimately and they. Go.

  154. Straight to the problem. They go straight to the.

  155. Solution. So the people of Nineveh.

  156. Believed God it takes. Faith.

  157. And unlike religion, faith is putting our trust in God, not in

  158. in. What we think or what we know?

  159. Of because everybody has. Faith.

  160. When you sat down in the chair. You had faith it would hold you

  161. up. Some of us might question it

  162. first. Before we did it, but we didn't

  163. check the bolts. We didn't check all the.

  164. Screws to make Brian. Sure, he.

  165. Got it all together before everybody showed up.

  166. We just. Plopped down and sat.

  167. In it assuming that. It's all.

  168. Good you had. Faith, even those that are

  169. unsaved. Have.

  170. Faith. They have faith.

  171. When they get in their car that they're going to turn the key

  172. and it's just going to start. They don't go around.

  173. And check the spark plugs. Some people do some they don't

  174. go check the oil, they don't go check the exhaust, they don't do

  175. all those things before they get in the car and start it.

  176. They just get in the car and start it and then when it

  177. doesn't they go whoa. What?

  178. Happened. They have faith in things.

  179. The difference is there's an obligation of faith.

  180. It's not an option in this word. There's there's no option of

  181. having faith or not having. Faith if you want to have.

  182. A home in heaven. If you want to be saved, there's

  183. no option. It's not one of many options.

  184. It's not one of many. Choices to have.

  185. Peace with God. Define.

  186. Forgiveness. Faith is.

  187. Is a requirement Romans? Three says therefore.

  188. We conclude that a man is. Justified by faith without the

  189. deeds of the. Law, the Apostle Paul.

  190. I guess probably I would say that.

  191. Attempted and accomplished more for God than anybody else in

  192. history. His resume is.

  193. Filled with things that we could.

  194. Never even come close to but he says it this way in Philippians

  195. 39 and be found in him not having mine own righteousness.

  196. Which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of.

  197. Christ, the righteousness. Which is of God by faith as.

  198. Christians, we understand. That.

  199. Salvation is through faith alone.

  200. But yet, if we believe that for faith, for our salvation, why is

  201. it so hard to live by faith? We take it for.

  202. Granted that I need. Faith to get saved.

  203. But after I get. Saved.

  204. I don't need faith. Anymore I can just live my life

  205. the way I want to live, Luke 18-8 says.

  206. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man cometh, shall he find faith

  207. on the earth? That's at the end time.

  208. That's when he comes. Back.

  209. Shall he find faith? On the Earth.

  210. What's your life? Today, if it's not with faith,

  211. what's your salvation? If it's not with.

  212. Faith, What's your separation without?

  213. Faith, What's you're? Trying to live holy.

  214. Without faith, what's your doing any good?

  215. Thing if it's not. With faith.

  216. You have an. Obligation to have faith.

  217. But there's a specific object of that faith.

  218. Many people, like we said, have faith they have faith in.

  219. Themselves, they have faith in their job.

  220. They have faith in their bank. Account they have faith.

  221. In their government or their other people around them.

  222. But the people of Nineveh realize.

  223. Where they had to put their faith, it was they had to

  224. believe God. We as.

  225. Christians have to remind. Ourselves every.

  226. Single day that you. Cannot live this.

  227. Christian life without faith. You can't.

  228. Start every day just. Trying.

  229. To get through it. You have to have a.

  230. Reliance on God we. I read this.

  231. Verse earlier in the in in the. Series and stuff.

  232. But John chapter 15, verse 5, the ending of that verse.

    John 15:5

  233. Says for without. Me you can do.

  234. Nothing not you can do. Most of the things.

  235. Or you can do. The.

  236. Easy stuff, God says. For without.

  237. Me you can do. Nothing.

  238. We have to have. Our object of faith.

  239. In him. To be able to do.

  240. Anything in this world, and that's what we see here in

  241. Nineveh. Is what they did.

  242. They put their. Faith in God.

  243. So. The people of Nineveh.

  244. Believed God. The next thing we.

  245. See is they? Fasted look.

  246. There in the rest. Of that verse.

  247. And proclaimed a fast and put on.

  248. Sackcloth. From the greatest of them even

  249. to the. Least of them.

  250. And they? Skip a little.

  251. And he? Caused it to be.

  252. Proclaimed and published talking about the king through Nineveh.

  253. By the. Decree of the king and his

  254. nobles saying, Let there neither man nor.

  255. Beast heard nor flock. Taste anything, let them not

  256. feed or drink water. You see, when when we understand

  257. that our state as an unsaved person is hell and and.

  258. Without God there. Is no way to get out of that

  259. ultimate end. That that's the.

  260. Only way of salvation is with faith but fasting.

  261. Here it it's interesting. That.

  262. This is a this. Is Nineveh.

  263. This is a Pagan city, a a great city, but a total.

  264. Pagan city and the first thing they.

  265. Do when they realize? Who?

  266. God is and who? They are as they.

  267. Fast the King. Says let's fast.

  268. The one that is in. Charge of the greatest.

  269. City around the one that has the.

  270. Word to say off with his head. Kill Jonah.

  271. Get rid of this. Get out of here.

  272. He's the one that says let me. Take off my robe, let me

  273. humiliate myself by putting sackcloth in and sit in ash.

  274. It started at the. King and he understood the

  275. importance of who God was and. Ultimately who he was.

  276. A fast. Is a contrition that changes

  277. everything. Think of this King Ahab.

  278. What do we know? King Ahab is?

  279. Is he? Is he known for being the best

  280. uncle, best father, a great king, a happy following God?

  281. No, we know him as the Wicked King.

  282. But first Kings 2127 says it this way, and it came to pass

  283. when Ahab. Heard these those words.

  284. That he rent his clothes and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and

  285. fasted and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.

  286. Even King Ahab knew the only way to get.

  287. A hold of God. Is to put myself underneath him,

  288. humiliated Psalms 5117, says the.

  289. Sacrifices of God are. Are a broken spirit a broken and

  290. contrite? Heart.

  291. Oh God, thou. Wilt not despise if you want to

  292. get. Right with God.

  293. As a child of God, you. Have.

  294. To do what? The word of God.

  295. Says and not think, oh, I'm I'm, I'm a I'm a son of God.

  296. I'm just going to come. Boldly.

  297. Into the throne of grace and ask for.

  298. Forgiveness. No.

  299. The Bible. Says you kneel before there's

  300. humiliation and understanding. I am a Sinner.

  301. I might be a. Child.

  302. Of God, but I'm still a Sinner and I still have to come before

  303. His throne as a Sinner in humiliation in in repenting of

  304. my heart and wanting to do what I need.

  305. To do to realize. And to change the state that I'm

  306. in, the other thing, that's amazing.

  307. Is the universal commitment we see here in in Nineveh.

  308. It wasn't just the king that decided I'm going to take off my

  309. robe. And get right with God.

  310. It was a universal commitment, not just the king who fasted and

  311. prayed, and not just the animals, every single person

  312. from from the king down to the sheep.

  313. Fasted. While God can hear and answer

  314. your. Prayer.

  315. It's a big difference when it's a whole group of people.

  316. Why is it important that we have prayer?

  317. Meeting on Wednesday night. Why is it important for you to

  318. come here? Couldn't you just stay in your

  319. car and. Pray yes.

  320. God will hear you. As a child of God, God.

  321. Hears you, but there's. Something about having.

  322. A group of people. Praying.

  323. Think of it this way. What?

  324. What do we think of of? Pentecost when?

  325. When 3000. Were saved, go there.

  326. Actually. Now I'm going off the cuff.

  327. See. That'd be an.

  328. Axe. No it wouldn't.

  329. Yes, Axe. 2 is when it happens and we see that 3000 get.

  330. Saved, but look at. Verse in chapter 1 No I I should

  331. have wrote it down. Verse 8, No 14.

  332. These all. Continued with 1 accord in

  333. prayer and supplication with the women and Mary the mother of

  334. Jesus, and with his brethren. It was a group effort.

  335. Notice that it it. Wasn't just that.

  336. Peter got up and. Preached and all of a sudden.

  337. Thousands got saved. There was a.

  338. Group effort A. A.

  339. Commitment for the group of them to.

  340. Get right with God. And to.

  341. Do what? God.

  342. Wanted to happen. In his and because.

  343. Of that commitment because. Of.

  344. Universal commitment. It results.

  345. In unbelievable changes. You think of.

  346. The Story of. Spurgeon and people coming and

  347. visiting and asking. How do you do this?

  348. How is there so? Many people, how are you having

  349. so much fruit? And he took them down.

  350. Was it? Spurgeon took him down to a

  351. basement. And there was a multitude of

  352. people. Down in the basement, praying,

  353. that's how you get a hold of God.

  354. That's how you see. And God.

  355. Sees that there's a. Difference being changed in you.

  356. What? What when you when you were a?

  357. Kid and and mom or dad? Caught you doing something and

  358. you said I'm sorry I got caught. I'm I'm sorry about.

  359. Doing whatever it is. If you go back and do it again,

  360. was there. Really much in that.

  361. Sorry, was there really much in in your you're asking

  362. forgiveness? Yes, you're asking.

  363. Forgiveness and. And you might have been sad

  364. about. What you did, you know it was.

  365. Wrong and and you wanted to change.

  366. But you just went back into it versus?

  367. And I'd never done this and I. Can't say that I've ever had a

  368. kid do. It and I've never heard of a kid

  369. doing it getting. Caught.

  370. Doing something and then. Because not because they're

  371. getting punished for doing this. Telling their parent I'm not

  372. having dinner tonight if one of my.

  373. Kids said. I'm sorry, Dad.

  374. You know, I lied about that. Because of that, I'm not going

  375. to eat dinner. Time out.

  376. It's. Going to get my attention.

  377. Hold on, you actually. Want to not do?

  378. Something that is your. Necessity, not just.

  379. You don't get to go out and play.

  380. Bummer. I guess all right.

  381. No feeding yourself. Drinking water.

  382. That's why I said. When when the king commands this

  383. feet fast. Feast fast.

  384. It's not just. Don't eat anything.

  385. Don't eat anything or. Water at.

  386. All don't drink anything, don't eat anything.

  387. He never. Actually says how?

  388. Long either, by the way. He never decrees and says let's

  389. do it for the day and see what. Happens.

  390. All he says is. We're going to he commands the

  391. fast and verse 9 who can. Tell if God will.

  392. Turn and repent, I think the king of.

  393. Nineveh Fully. Had in his mind, we're going to

  394. do. This until. 40 days are done

  395. because that's when God's judgment is going to fall and.

  396. Until I hear otherwise. I'm going to fast and every

  397. single one of us is going to do the exact same thing.

  398. That's how important the king understood getting.

  399. Right with God was. That I'm going to withheld any

  400. kind of food, any kind of drink, anything that can literally keep

  401. me alive. Because.

  402. This is more important and it's. Sad that a.

  403. King, that was wicked so much. So that God wanted.

  404. To destroy everything because of him.

  405. And yet Christians. Won't even not eat.

  406. Something because of something that they did.

  407. Won't take. Sin seriously in their life.

  408. And understand how much. It hurts God for what you do,

  409. and yet we just bow our heads, say forgive.

  410. Me and then move on like. That's enough I've I've.

  411. Done it all right, Wash my hands like Pilot in the bowl and then

  412. I'm clean. And goes right back to doing

  413. what we do. Sin meant something.

  414. The king of Nineveh understood. This judgment was because of

  415. them. Because of what they've.

  416. Been doing and. Because of that, he took it

  417. serious, so much so that for 40 days.

  418. I'm not going to eat anything. I'm not going to drink anything,

  419. you know. Most people will die if they

  420. ever. Tried to not eat anything, Not

  421. so much. For 40 days, but.

  422. Drinking. Water for 40 days you'll.

  423. Shrivel up and die the king. Said I'd rather die.

  424. Getting right with God. Than just having the pleasure

  425. and surviving. He knew and understood.

  426. What it meant to get a hold. Of God.

  427. The third thing we see there in verse?

  428. 8. But let man and beast.

  429. Be covered with sackcloth. And cry mightily.

  430. Unto God, Yeah, let. Them turn everyone from his evil

  431. way and from the violence that is in their hands, forsaking

  432. their sin. Biblical repentance, yes,

  433. involves agreeing with. God.

  434. That this is sin. This whatever.

  435. It is is sin according to God, but there's a difference between

  436. just accepting that and forsaking it.

  437. The Bible. Says in Proverbs 13.

  438. Reminds us that forsaking along with confession is necessary for

  439. that mercy. Ephesians 420.

  440. Two that you put. Off concerning the former

  441. conversation of the old man. Which is corrupt according.

  442. To the deceitful lusts, Isaiah 55, seven says.

  443. Let the wicked forsake his way. And the unrighteous man his

  444. thoughts, and let them return unto the Lord, and he will have

  445. mercy upon him, and to. Our God for.

  446. He will abundantly pardon. It says there in verse.

  447. Eight. Yeah, let them turn everyone

  448. from his evil way and from the violence that is in their hand.

  449. There had to be. A forsaking of what was

  450. happening, not just the. Oops.

  451. We got caught, we're going to get destroyed in 30-40.

  452. Days Let's let's not do that for 40.

  453. Days and see what. Happens.

  454. We'll go back. To it after.

  455. That and just see how long it works.

  456. It was a forsaking. It was a going this direction,

  457. turning and going the. Opposite.

  458. Direction. That's what repentance and

  459. dealing with getting repentance is doing when you ask for

  460. forgiveness for God. It's not oops, I'm going this

  461. way. Sorry.

  462. Forgive me for sinning. And going this way and just keep

  463. going this way. And so many Christians.

  464. Do that, we ask. For.

  465. Forgiveness, we hear a. Message at church or on the

  466. radio. And it breaks our heart and God.

  467. Shows us our error. And we say sorry, and we ask

  468. for. Forgiveness.

  469. And we ask for. Repentance for what we've.

  470. Done. And then we get up and do it

  471. again. There has to be.

  472. A forsaking of that sin repentance involves a change of

  473. direction. People in Jonah, in Jonah's day

  474. and here in Nineveh were were challenged to not just

  475. understand what they've. Been doing is evil.

  476. And wrong. Notice the king.

  477. Himself says. Turn everyone from his.

  478. Evil way. The king didn't think.

  479. It was. It's just the way we do things.

  480. He understood that it was evil. But we have to.

  481. Change. We can't go the same direction

  482. to have forgiveness. Repentance also in involves a

  483. changing of our. Deeds there at the end, he says.

  484. And from the violence that is in their hands.

  485. They they were. It wasn't just that they.

  486. Had. Evil continually in their

  487. hearts, talking about like when Noah was around.

  488. It was that their deeds. Were evil.

  489. Everyone wants to change their direction from hell to heaven.

  490. You you ask anybody? Do you want to go to hell where

  491. it's? Burning and whipping and

  492. gnashing of teeth and and fire that never goes out, no.

  493. Who wants to go there? Then they want to escape God's

  494. judgment. And you want to have.

  495. God's blessing, but not. Everybody is.

  496. Willing to change? Their lifestyle.

  497. What happens when you get? Saved.

  498. Behold all. Things are become the same.

  499. Become new. There's a.

  500. Change there's not. You don't stay the same.

  501. The old man is not still in control, or shouldn't be.

  502. When you get saved, there is a new.

  503. Creature, but the sad. Thing is, people want God's

  504. blessing while hanging on to. The the world.

  505. So much and and just like last. Week with Pastor's message.

  506. They want to straddle this fence and walk this fine line of.

  507. Well, I'm I'm still saved. But I'm as close.

  508. As I can get to the world. I don't.

  509. Know about you, but we like yesterday we were.

  510. Walking, firing and knocking. On doors and the kids always

  511. like to walk on the. On the curb because they can't

  512. walk in the road and I don't want them walking so they.

  513. They walk that curb. What ultimately happens when you

  514. walk a curb? Do you always stay?

  515. On top of the curb. No, you fall you.

  516. Put 1 foot one way. 3 foot, 1 foot, the other way you will

  517. always go one. Direction.

  518. And sadly, Christians never really.

  519. Go the right. Direction.

  520. If they're already. Walking the fence.

  521. They're already bent towards that way if if you.

  522. Want to? Argue and say no.

  523. I'm, I'm I I'll. Fall the right way.

  524. Then why are you? Ever even close to the edge?

  525. Just like I heard a story of a. Company that wanted to.

  526. Hire a A. Driver for some, really.

  527. I don't know if he was. Famous or rich or important

  528. person and and the. Test was.

  529. Here's the edge of the Cliff. I want these three.

  530. Drivers I want. You to go and see how close you

  531. can get to that edge. And stop without.

  532. Going over trying to test the the driver's capability.

  533. First one goes. And he gets close, but he's not

  534. quite to the end. The second one goes and his

  535. tires are. Literally almost off the.

  536. Edge. The third one starts.

  537. The car and puts it in park. And says I'm done and he.

  538. Gets the job why? Because he's the one that knows

  539. that's the edge, that's the Cliff.

  540. I'm not going near it. Why would I want to go over the

  541. edge? See how close I can get to it?

  542. But Christians, we. Play that game every single.

  543. Day all our life. We play the.

  544. Game of How close can I get to the edge?

  545. Why? Why do we do that?

  546. Nineveh. A wicked city so.

  547. Much so that God. Wants to destroy.

  548. It goes this is evil. This is wicked.

  549. We're not even getting. Close to the edge.

  550. We're turning and. Forsaking everything that we've

  551. done. And turning and trying.

  552. To go towards God, by the way. I don't know if God's going to.

  553. Spare us who? Can know it, he says.

  554. I don't know. If God's going to spare us or he

  555. still is going to. Destroy this place in. 40 days

  556. but but. Before those 40 days, each of

  557. us. Are going to be clean.

  558. Each of us are going to be repentance.

  559. Each of us are. Going to have our relationship

  560. right with God. Whether or not we survive it or

  561. not, we're going to do what's right.

  562. True repentance. Like I said.

  563. Before in 2nd Corinthians 517 talks about old things are.

  564. Passed away. Behold all.

  565. Things are become new. Not some things, all things and

  566. if you want to. That's the word of.

  567. God that says that. That that's not some.

  568. Some preacher that wants it. To be true.

  569. That's not somebody that says. Well, if you think.

  570. Good thoughts you'll have. Good things.

  571. The Bible says that. When you get saved.

  572. All things are become new. What are you doing to keep it

  573. though when you get? Saved I I truly.

  574. Believe all. Things become new.

  575. But as you progress, and as we get back into the world, and as

  576. we sin. We don't.

  577. Try. We don't keep.

  578. Those all things. New We can't determine or demand

  579. God to do anything. The last.

  580. Last thing I want to look here is the forgiveness there in

  581. verse 9. Who can tell it if?

  582. Will, if God will. Turn and repent and turn away

  583. from his fierce anger that we perish not and God saw.

  584. Their works that they. Turn from their evil way, and

  585. God repented. Of the evil that he had said.

  586. He would do unto them, and He did it not, Acts 822 says.

  587. Repent therefore, for their. For thy wickedness, and pray

  588. God, if. Perhaps the?

  589. Thought of Thine heart may be forgiven thee first, John 19, if

  590. we confess our sins. He is faithful.

  591. And just to forgive. Us, our sins, and to cleanse us

  592. from all unrighteousness, the attention of forgiveness.

  593. Has to be on God. God's the only one that gives

  594. the forgiveness there in verse 10 and Jonah saw their.

  595. Works. No and.

  596. God saw their works. John 20 Jeremiah 1710 says.

  597. I, the Lord, search the heart. God's.

  598. Attention is drawn to people who are repentant.

  599. There the attention has. To be of God.

  600. But the atonement? Has to be of.

  601. God, Psalms 103. 17 says it this way, but but the mercy.

  602. Of the. Lord is from everlasting to

  603. everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto

  604. children, unto children's children.

  605. Joel 213 says it this way, sums it up.

  606. What happened to these people in Nineveh?

  607. And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto

  608. the. Lord your God, for he is

  609. gracious. And merciful, slow to anger, and

  610. of great kindness, and repenteth him.

  611. Of the evil. We ought to be thankful that

  612. God's mercies as. Lamentation says they are.

  613. New every morning. That option is there.

  614. Every single day, that option to be able to come before the

  615. throne of grace. Is there?

  616. As a child. Of God.

  617. Don't be afraid. To go to God, king of Nineveh

  618. could have just said, well, guess we're guess we're going to

  619. be dead in 40 days. But he took a chance.

  620. He had faith in something he didn't.

  621. Even know will this work I. Don't know you want us to fast

  622. and not drink water. And sit in.

  623. Ashes and have sack off and and do the.

  624. Same with our our. Animals and you don't even know

  625. if it's going to. Work.

  626. Nope, I don't, but I want to be right with God.

  627. Hebrews. 725 says ends it this way.

  628. He ever liveth. To make intercession for us, for

  629. them, God's waiting for. You to get right with God, but

  630. God. Wants you to get.

  631. Right with him, his way. Not our way.

  632. Saying words doesn't mean that the heart's changed.

  633. That's why. Saying a prayer of.

  634. Of getting getting saved. And repeat after me one 2-3 and

  635. now you're going to heaven. It's not.

  636. Words. It's a heart.

  637. It's a change inside of you, and that's what God's looking for.

  638. In the lost, yes, but in his own children, how changed?

  639. Are you when you come before God?

  640. How? Much different, are you?

  641. When you get up. After asking for forgiveness

  642. than when you knelt down. Because there should be a

  643. change, there should be a change in the way that you.

  644. See whatever the sin. Was because you what brought you

  645. to? Your knees was.

  646. Knowing it was sin, but when you get up it should be abhorrent to

  647. you of that sin. That sin should make you.

  648. Weep because of what it did to Christ.

  649. So much so. That I'm not going to ever do it

  650. again. By God's power, by God's grace,

  651. I'll never. Do this again.

  652. That's the way. A repentant Sinner.

  653. Gets right with God. Not.

  654. Sorry I got caught. Sorry, it's.

  655. Against your words. Sorry I got.

  656. Did this but it. Doesn't matter if it happens

  657. again because I'm. Human we sin.

  658. Oh well. That's how so much.

  659. Christianity is today. Oh, we'll ask for.

  660. Forgiveness, but don't ask. Us to change.

  661. I'll ask that I know what I did was wrong, but I'm going.

  662. To do it again tomorrow, God's looking for a repentant.

  663. Heart to come to him. God's looking for a son that

  664. wants to change and not. Do it again.

  665. Yes, you are human. Yes, you are.

  666. Still. Enveloped with the old.

  667. Man, but with. God's.

  668. Power you can change. That you get God's.

  669. Power. You can overcome that.

  670. That's how Nineveh. Got a hold of God the wicked?

  671. Great city. Got a hold?

  672. Of God, how much more can the. Child of God, do it.

  673. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, I thank you for

  674. today. I thank you for having your word

  675. and the examples that you give us in it to change our lives to

  676. be more like You. Lord, to realize the.

  677. Seriousness of sin and what it does.

  678. To grieve your heart, I pray that we.

  679. We learn to abhorrent that we learn to as your.

  680. Word says that you. Hate sin.

  681. I pray that we. Learn to hate sin.

  682. That we don't get comfortable with it, that we don't just.

  683. Go a long life and ask for forgiveness when we need it and

  684. just keep the same. Way God, I pray.

  685. That you change. Us that we'd not.

  686. Be the same as we were today. That we're new.

  687. That we're new. Creatures.

  688. All things are new. I pray that you help us with

  689. that. Pray that you be glorified.

  690. Through the next sermon. I pray that you be lifted.

  691. Up and ever pleased with everything that goes on here

  692. today. In Jesus name I pray.

  693. Amen.
