  1. Board's done and what you've just seen has to take some time

  2. to probably to sink into your mind totally outside of the box

  3. and the opportunity to there are about 400 and something 1000

  4. people in the country, but we've literally can give the gospel to

  5. every family. This is this is what we're

  6. dealing with fulfilling the Great Commission.

  7. All right so we get into Psalm 63.

  8. What a what a passage of Scripture.

  9. It's, it's I hope that you are blessed by this.

  10. When I was saved at 11, I was given a book to read or

  11. purchased a book to read on the power of the Holy Spirit and the

  12. Lord. I didn't know what he was doing,

  13. but was leading me in a life of directing the spiritual life

  14. that we have, that God created breathed into us a second time

  15. at our new birth, the salvation of our soul.

  16. And that directing that into an emphasis of a personal

  17. relationship with Christ and not a list of things that we do just

  18. because we think we ought to do them and avoiding things that we

  19. think we ought to avoid. It comes down to a relationship

  20. with Christ. And I got serious about the

  21. things of the Lord a couple years later, real serious.

  22. And and within by the time I was 14, the Lord called me to

  23. preach. And I came across this Psalm as

  24. I was reading through Psalms real quick after that point and

  25. memorized it and it kept me where I needed to be all through

  26. high school and seeking after the Lord.

  27. So let's read, if you will, this, and then we'll get into

  28. really our presentation. And if you want to load that

  29. presentation, it's ready. It goes along at the same time

  30. simultaneously. Let's read this Psalm.

  31. O God, thou art my God, early will I seek thee.

  32. My soul thirsteth for thee. My flesh longeth for Thee in a

  33. dry and thirsty land, where no water is to see Thy power and

  34. Thy glory, so as I have seen Thee in the sanctuary.

  35. Because Thy loving kindness is better than life.

  36. My lips shall praise Thee. Thus will I bless Thee.

  37. While I live, I will lift up my hands in Thy name.

  38. My soul shall be satisfied as with Morrow and fatness in my

  39. mouth shall praise Thee with joyful lips, When I remember

  40. Thee upon my bed, and meditate on Thee in the night watches,

  41. because Thou hast been my help. Therefore in the shadow of Thy

  42. wings will I rejoice. My soul fall with heart after

  43. Thee. Thy right hand upholdeth me.

  44. But those that seek my soul to destroy it shall go into the

  45. lower parts of the earth. They shall fall by the sword.

  46. They shall be apportioned for foxes.

  47. But the King David says here, that's him speaking, he's

  48. talking about himself shall rejoice in God.

  49. Everyone that sweareth by his name shall glory, but the mouth

  50. of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

  51. Let's have word of prayer. Father, I pray that you please

  52. bless this time together and use this Lord not only to get across

  53. the needs of Chicago and but we want to glorify your name and

  54. what you've done and thank you and we'll praise you in Jesus

  55. name, Amen, Amen. This says, oh God, I recently

  56. heard a pastor say we need to return the OS to our prayers.

  57. We say a lot of things like God, I need this Lord right now and

  58. you better hurry because I'm in a hurry.

  59. I mean, we come to God and approach him in such a casual

  60. nature. And instead we need to put back

  61. these OS and say, get on our knees and say, oh God, I need

  62. this. Oh God, I have a need.

  63. I have a need. And the need is internal.

  64. It's an internal need. He says thou art my God, so he'd

  65. better be your God, and not just the God of your parents or the

  66. God that is abstract, but he is my God, my friend, the knowledge

  67. that I have a relationship with him.

  68. And he says early will I seek thee?

  69. We ought to seek. Him early in our lives to seek

  70. the Lord. He says to seek the Creator in

  71. the days of our youth, but to seek Him early in our

  72. experiences. If you get saved, it ought to

  73. turn your heart to seek a pursuit of God through the rest

  74. of your life and seek him early in your ministry, early in your

  75. family, to dedicate your children as God gives you

  76. children to bring them and seek God to say these are not my

  77. children but yours, and to seek the Lord in the morning, early

  78. in the day, so that the rest of the day belongs to Him.

  79. He says, early will I seek thee? My soul thirsteth for thee.

  80. So Christianity really should be summarized not not just in the

  81. theology of our doctrine, but it ought to be in the the

  82. experience of a Christian could be summarized in those words.

  83. I thirst for God. When our Christianity becomes

  84. something else like I seek to please man as the verse we

  85. talked about today, seeking to fit in with the church and what

  86. they require, seeking to follow some kind of leader, we have

  87. wavered from the fact that Christianity can be summarized

  88. just in those words. My soul thirsteth for thee.

  89. Do you thirst after God? Can you describe your prayer

  90. life as being thirsty for him? Is your Bible reading seeking

  91. for him in the pages of Scripture?

  92. Is your so many efforts done for duty or is it something you're

  93. doing because you're seeking after God and his will and, and,

  94. and proclaiming him to the others around you that they

  95. might know him as you do? My soul thirsteth for thee now.

  96. This is incredible. My flesh longeth for thee now.

  97. The New Testament begins a, a, a picture of our body, our flesh,

  98. referring to our carnal nature. And this is not that because our

  99. carnal nature is never going to be improved.

  100. God's answer to carnality and the carnal flesh is to kill it.

  101. He said crucified the flesh and so we're not on a flesh self

  102. improvement course, we're on a flesh killing course.

  103. OK, that we're supposed to die to self and to put on the new

  104. man Amen. But this is referring to our

  105. physical body in the Old Testament that our physical body

  106. think about this can long after God and think about this.

  107. This means that throughout the day, not only should I want God

  108. in my soul, but they were going through our day saying, you know

  109. what, I really wish I were back on my knees with the Lord Jesus.

  110. I wish that my and even my body desires to be in that place of

  111. fellowship with the Lord. What a difference this

  112. Christianity would be and how it would impact this world in such

  113. a greater way if our Christianity was from the source

  114. of our prayer closets emanating into the rest of our lives

  115. rather than just coming from maybe the preacher preaching.

  116. Thus you should do to please and be a good, good little

  117. Christian. It ought to come and flow from a

  118. heart that is totally on fire, or we need revival in a dry and

  119. thirsty land where no water is. We live in that kind of country

  120. and I'm going to tell you, I've lived in another country and

  121. believes and it needs the gospel.

  122. Back in the 60s and 50s and beyond the, the, the Moody Bible

  123. types had planted the gospel. And so there's gospel chapels

  124. all around Belize and, and they've even gone into the

  125. villages and not just the cities, but friend, it didn't

  126. last. Their ecclesiology not being

  127. right, they, they found the replacements for the pastors as

  128. they died off. When I moved there, some of the

  129. old pastors were still there and they were retiring or dying and

  130. they went off to other churches of charismatic style to find the

  131. replacements and and friend. Now the gospel is watered down

  132. with no eternal security in that country and it is time to really

  133. to seriously re evangelize the country for the Lord.

  134. But so is America. America has fallen from its

  135. Bible roots and it has gone its own way.

  136. And Christians, we need to re evangelize our entire country.

  137. Notice verse #2 and it's the title at the top of your hand

  138. out it says to see thy power and Thy glory.

  139. So as I have seen thee in the sanctuary, David had been down

  140. to the sanctuary, to the Tabernacle.

  141. It was his Son who built the temple, remember?

  142. And so he had a Tabernacle to go to.

  143. And there he had first hand witness the presence of God, His

  144. glory manifest. He had heard as was gifted to

  145. him the ability to to be inspired to write the scriptures

  146. that we have very an example, this very one we're reading.

  147. And so in a very unique way, he saw the power and the glory of

  148. God. If you write down in your notes,

  149. fill out the first word, it's the past.

  150. We have seen the reality of God, not just talking about him, but

  151. it's a it's something you know to be true.

  152. And I'm afraid of what's happened in Christianity is a

  153. strong disconnect between what we are saying and what the

  154. children are watching in the home and experiencing in their

  155. lives. Like promises that we put on

  156. plaques and hang on a wall like my God shall supply all your

  157. need according to his riches and glory by Christ Jesus.

  158. But yet Christians, when they really come to a crisis

  159. financially, often they are not running to God in prayer.

  160. They are running to their credit card to solve their problems.

  161. And there's a disconnect between kids who are raised in a

  162. Christian home who never know what it is to see the power of

  163. God demonstrated. And that disconnect has lost a

  164. generation, at least of our Christianity, and has set them

  165. to say, oh, there's those blowhard pastors who preach loud

  166. messages, but they're empty of the power of God.

  167. And the fact is that there is the power.

  168. I've seen it. I've watched God do some great

  169. things, and I'm here to tell you that it's very real.

  170. In spite of the problem of Christians living in that

  171. disconnected way, God is still God.

  172. In the House of God you can see the great power of God.

  173. Debbie and I started in our ministry there at Fair Haven

  174. Baptist Church and I was hired on staff in 1994, stayed on

  175. staff until 2012. And the Lord did some among the

  176. many things that we did there. And you wear a lot of hats as an

  177. assistant pastor. I was Debbie's dad's assistant

  178. pastor for 18 years. And but my favorite ministry was

  179. there in the bus ministry. And I put this on there so you

  180. can see that Once Upon a time I had hair and enough hair and I

  181. was skinny. But your pastor and and and

  182. brother Brian and their dad is here would remember the days

  183. when God did some wonderful things.

  184. And I'm going to tell you that going out and bringing people to

  185. church on these buses wasn't just here.

  186. Here's a piece of gum if you come to church, but it came from

  187. praying. Oh God do something.

  188. And after a while we started to see people rescued off the bus

  189. ministry and families coming in and getting saved and, and then

  190. a lot of times I'd have to do their wedding.

  191. I've done a lot of weddings and I was in charge of the senior

  192. ministry. So I did a lot of Wendy's and a

  193. lot of funerals over those years and, and, but saw God work on

  194. people's hearts. And you know your pastor with me

  195. a lot of times he started out young with me and going out

  196. there and, and, and knocking on doors and seeing prostitutes

  197. come to Jesus and clean their lives up, watching drug addicts

  198. get clean, watching and, and in the middle of it, seeing a lot

  199. of disappointment at the same time, but knowing what it is in

  200. the ministry to stay at it and watch God.

  201. So what I can tell you is that God wants people to be saved and

  202. he wants people's lives to change.

  203. And I've seen it and I've experienced it.

  204. And as he got older, and his brother.

  205. Was with us. There in in that city and my

  206. children started to replace them as my partners.

  207. And so my children were raised going into homes and, and seeing

  208. things like the way that sin destroys people's lives.

  209. And it was a constant appearance to them and what happens and

  210. speaking to them of the effects of sin.

  211. Hey, I saw the power of God do some things.

  212. And then God moved us to Belize, as pastor pointed out, and we

  213. started the church there and pastor talked this morning about

  214. starting this church and, and having a special event and all

  215. of those things and nobody came. And we got there on Wednesday

  216. and started the church on Sunday night.

  217. I mean they speak English. So, you know, I didn't have to

  218. go to language school. I already kind of know that

  219. language a little bit and. So I remember that night, I, I

  220. went out front and I was pacing out front of the property

  221. saying, Lord, I, I don't think I would come to hear me preach,

  222. but I, I really appreciate it if you send somebody and five

  223. people came. And so with our five and then we

  224. had 10 and three of them received the Lord as their

  225. Savior. And then the next Sunday morning

  226. when we had our first Sunday morning service, we actually had

  227. a mom and a dad and three kids come.

  228. And you know, I know that feeling, you know, like, man,

  229. this is great. It's a real family.

  230. Amen. And you know, I preach

  231. salvation. And that 13 year old came

  232. forward to be saved and I took him over with my Bible into the

  233. other room, sat down and started to show him how to get saved.

  234. And his dad, very shy man, came in and said, I think I belong in

  235. here too. And the both of them got.

  236. Saved that day. And you know what?

  237. They became faithful immediately.

  238. Sunday morning, Sunday night, midweek service and you know,

  239. God began to if you don't come, you can't have God work on your

  240. heart, you're missing out. And but because they were

  241. faithful. Six years later, he became the

  242. pastor of this church and only God can do that.

  243. A grand opening we had. We had 78 Belgians come.

  244. Twelve of them came forward. I think more came forward, but

  245. 12 got saved that day. And most the unique thing is

  246. most of these people are either still in that church.

  247. I know where they are or they've passed away.

  248. And you know, this is an amazing what God did.

  249. Again, I've seen God, I don't have anything in me that can

  250. start a church. Somebody has said, well pastor,

  251. you've started 2 very successful churches so you know what you're

  252. doing. Listen, the only thing I know

  253. how to do is say God, I don't know what I'm doing.

  254. I need your help and I need God to empower.

  255. But I've seen it. I've seen it and my children

  256. have seen it. And because they've seen it,

  257. they know that God is real. He's real to meet your needs.

  258. Every promise in the Bible he will fulfill if we meet his

  259. conditions. And there we began to do things

  260. like you do, baptize. We baptize there in the ocean,

  261. right out there. And for four years we baptized

  262. in the same place. So they put up a sign, said no

  263. swimming crocodiles, you know, and we never saw a crocodile

  264. there until after they put the sign there.

  265. And one time I was baptizing in a dolphin swim right by.

  266. At least we think it was a dolphin.

  267. Anyway, then this is the first vacation Bible school was after

  268. three months of the church, we reached 100, the church service

  269. after that. And then we taught them how to

  270. go. So winning door to door

  271. visitation. Very important thing.

  272. We bought buses. They're the short buses.

  273. They're they're very good. I use these in Pocatello too.

  274. I love those, those buses they because in the city you can drop

  275. by and drop off if you're all over full and then go back and

  276. get more, you know, you're not that far.

  277. And, and I bought that big bus at the beginning And then the

  278. guys I was training to drive kept bumping into other people's

  279. cars. And so I, I got tired of paying

  280. for the repairs and got those smaller buses and they did fine.

  281. So and nursing home service and our Bible institute there,

  282. they're very good students. Worked hard and you know, I, I,

  283. I taught at the Bible college there at fair.

  284. Haven and taught the same courses that I taught there.

  285. I taught them music is always. Part of a church.

  286. You have outstanding music. I do not know a church that I've

  287. been to and I've been into a lot of churches and.

  288. I'm talking in my, my ministry now, I've been in ministry for

  289. this is my 32nd year of ministry and I've been in probably 300

  290. churches across the country. And, and to be honest, I've

  291. never seen a Church of this size with music like you all have.

  292. You have been blessed and it's important part, you know, of our

  293. ministry. Music is part of that.

  294. And, and then the Blanco family, God worked on their hearts.

  295. I, I, I told the, I told some of the men, I said, the Lord's

  296. calling me back to start a church in the United States.

  297. And Pastor Blanco said, the Lord's been working on my heart.

  298. How do you know when you're called to preach?

  299. Now only God can work on people like this.

  300. He's not the personality. I mean, he's his, he has a

  301. college degree, but it's in agriculture.

  302. And, and, and so, you know, he, he said, pastor, how do you

  303. know? I said, well, I'll tell you how

  304. you know, the, what it feels like is you find out, you know,

  305. you have to preach or you can't still be right with God, which

  306. requires a prayer life. You know, you have to pray in a

  307. way that you're really getting a hold of God.

  308. And then you know, God wants you to do something and you know,

  309. you can't get away from it because he's pursuing you.

  310. And I've been there and he came back after fasting and prayer

  311. and said, I believe God's called me to preach.

  312. And I said, well, that doesn't mean you should pastor our

  313. church. Maybe you should start another

  314. one. I said, because it's going to be

  315. hard. And he has gone through some

  316. hard things. So he went and fasted and prayed

  317. again. And he came back and he said,

  318. you know, Pastor, I'm afraid of failure.

  319. He's just being honest. I mean, aren't we all afraid of

  320. failure? But he said this, He said I'm

  321. afraid of God more now that is an honest, transparent man.

  322. They're very unusual people. I've never had them once ask me

  323. for anything. I have to ask them what do they

  324. need? I'll call them and I'll say in

  325. conversation, how are you doing? Do you have everything you need?

  326. And they'll say, Pastor, you taught us that if we need

  327. something, we go to God in. Prayer.

  328. I have to go there to find out what they're missing.

  329. Last. Last February, I was sitting

  330. there in their kitchen and they're serving us a meal.

  331. And I look up and they on a little table, they got a

  332. refrigerator like what you have in your hotel room, about that

  333. little tiny size. And they're running a whole

  334. ministry. Off of it.

  335. And I said, where's your refrigerator?

  336. They said, pass through it, don't finish now.

  337. That means it can't be fixed anymore.

  338. They had to throw it away and we bought them another

  339. refrigerator. But the point I'm making is

  340. that. That they're very unusual people

  341. that would never, ever ask for anything.

  342. And I praise God for them. And God made him unanimously.

  343. They voted him and is their next pastor and now?

  344. He has been the pastor there longer than I was their pastor

  345. because we've passed that. Point and then the Lord.

  346. Called us out West to the mountains.

  347. And in a city, a little town, maybe 100,000 in the total

  348. outreach area, and it has these small mountains on both sides of

  349. it with a valley. The bottom of the valley is at

  350. 4500 feet above sea level. And you know the, it is, it is

  351. the home of the university there, right there on the right.

  352. You can see the football, the stadium there.

  353. And it is Idaho State University.

  354. All, all three of my kids graduated with a degree from

  355. there of some kind. And in 2018 we started the

  356. Mountain Valley Baptist Church and we did it in a city that's

  357. 75% Mormon. They even build a temple there.

  358. And but I'm going to tell you something.

  359. God will save Mormons. You know, it's a, it's a simple

  360. process, but it is a process. But God has to be involved.

  361. You have to have a prayer life to see a Mormon saved.

  362. God has to work on their hearts and God has done just that.

  363. We started with the grand opening in 2018 and we had 1100

  364. square feet. I don't know what.

  365. That would look like, but it was 50 people crammed in that little

  366. room and my son is teaching. That's Ezekiel teaching the

  367. Sunday school class. And it was so close to the

  368. morning service where they were that the Sunday school class had

  369. to be whispered. They had to whisper, kind of

  370. like your vacation Bible school was that one day.

  371. And then as quickly as I can tell you this story, I was out

  372. knocking on doors when the church was about 2 1/2 years

  373. old. And I was in an apartment

  374. complex, a rundown apartment, not, not well taken care of.

  375. And so the doors weren't really marked really well.

  376. And I accidentally knocked on the maintenance room, the boiler

  377. room, and the landlord was in there.

  378. And he opened the door and I said, oh, I'm sorry because I

  379. thought he was Mormon and going to kick me out of there.

  380. And so I said, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bother you.

  381. He said, no, I'm a Christian. I want to know what you're

  382. doing. And he said, I used to go to the

  383. Presbyterian Church before they quit preaching the gospel.

  384. And I, I know they're about to dissolve or do something like

  385. that. And he said my son-in-law who

  386. was with him, he said he's a real estate agent and you know,

  387. he, you too should get together and see if you can get that

  388. building for your church. Well, I got excited about that.

  389. I mean, the church planners, we, we look around at every

  390. building. I was telling pastor, you know,

  391. we, you get into this mindset in an area, you sit down in a

  392. coffee shop and you say, I wonder if this would make a good

  393. church building. That's just the mindset of a

  394. church planner. My dad planted a church.

  395. I know he was a policeman and then a preacher and he planted a

  396. church when I was 8. And he turned a gas station into

  397. our church building. And so, you know, I know that

  398. that gets into our head. So I left there really excited

  399. after exchanging information with Chris and went down to the

  400. building and I walked around this building and, you know, my

  401. head was like this, wow, wow. Like this got to be 18,000

  402. square feet and it's got to be worth millions.

  403. We had just. Started a building fund and we

  404. had gotten it up to the whopping sum of $4500 and the next year

  405. I'd already picked the theme was so built with the walls.

  406. We're going to preach through Nehemiah and I thought, well

  407. we'll save up a couple, maybe 25,000 and buy a piece of land

  408. and start paying on. It and start you know maybe 15

  409. years from now we'll build a building and.

  410. You know, so I walked around this building, looked at it, was

  411. intimidated, had a good laugh, and I drove away and forgot

  412. about it. A lot of faith in me, right?

  413. There's not. I am not.

  414. I am not a man. Of great faith.

  415. But I have a God of great faith and you can trust in him.

  416. About a month later, Chris called me and said it's on a

  417. pocket listing and we want you to come and see it.

  418. I said, man, I'd love to see it. It's a beautiful building.

  419. So Debbie and I went over there, we went on this tour.

  420. I was wrong. It's not 18,000.

  421. It was 22,000 square feet and and I know it's worth millions.

  422. We have to, we have to insure. It for four point. 3,000,000

  423. today and so I know it's expensive and I got through this

  424. whole thing and got down to the third row.

  425. I was sitting in the third row of the church auditorium and

  426. seat about 300 people and Debbie was in the back with a real

  427. estate agent and his wife. And I was just looking around

  428. and the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said you better pursue this.

  429. This is what I want. Now the Holy Spirit doesn't tell

  430. me everything to do like he didn't tell me what tie to.

  431. Wear, but there's times when your pastor is going to hear

  432. from God. And he's going to have a

  433. something to do that you're going to say that doesn't make

  434. sense, but God told him to do it.

  435. Our church was really on Sunday morning we'd have about 50

  436. people maybe in church. But Sunday night we'd have

  437. really 3035 people. And you know, I brought on

  438. Saturday, I told the church on the midweek service.

  439. And then Saturday we brought all 35 people.

  440. Over to the. Building and we're walking

  441. around the building and I could hear the men.

  442. I was walking behind the men, you know, I'm wondering what are

  443. they thinking? And I could hear them because

  444. they're saying, why do we need a building this big?

  445. How are we going to ever afford this?

  446. There's no way we're going to be able to do this.

  447. And. You know, I kind of agreed.

  448. With them in in, in truth, but God had spoken to my heart.

  449. We got all the way done with the tour and we got down to the

  450. auditorium and I really, my motive was I wanted to see what

  451. 35 voices sounded like in that 300 seat auditorium.

  452. And so we borrowed their piano and we found even in their

  453. liberal Psalm books they still had it as well with my soul.

  454. And we sang all four verses and at the end of those 4 verses all

  455. the ladies were crying and all the men were pretending not to

  456. and God had touched their hearts.

  457. The next night. I asked.

  458. For a vote. They the asking price was only a

  459. little bit over half a million, but when you only have $4500,

  460. that might as well be billions. And I told the church, I said

  461. I'm going to, I'm going to, I got a little plan if we could

  462. put together this much from within the church.

  463. And they did. They sacrificed, put together

  464. $35,000, only 35 people. And I said, I'll sell my house

  465. and move into the apartment that's in there.

  466. We'll give the house to the church and try to get 50,000

  467. from there. And I'll write, I'll write a

  468. note to my supporting churches, but I need the church to vote.

  469. And they voted unanimously to follow.

  470. And that night, so think about that, what God can do if people

  471. will just get a hold of the vision that as, as as we said

  472. tonight, if you get a hold of the vision that your pastor has

  473. and get behind it. I called the real estate agent

  474. the next morning and he accepted.

  475. They accepted the bid. I offered $150,000 down.

  476. I asked them to hold the mortgage for 10 years.

  477. I'd never heard of anybody doing that before, but they accepted

  478. that the price was half $1,000,000.

  479. And I asked them to come down. They came down like $5000.

  480. Yay. And And so I, you know, I, I, I

  481. decided. Well, I better.

  482. Write my supporting churches. So I had an e-mail.

  483. With just like. Four or five pictures I said,

  484. here's a building, an opportunity, been well cared for

  485. and I can get it, but I need some help.

  486. Maybe you'd pray and the Lord had laid on your heart to give

  487. us an extra love offering. And I wrote 5 emails that came

  488. out and told my wife, I just can't keep this up.

  489. I said I can't. This is these men all have their

  490. own buildings. They're all projects and my

  491. wife's always trying to encourage my melancholy spirit.

  492. And it's just then one of the pastors and he was from brother

  493. Bishop over here in Alexandria. He wrote me an e-mail back and

  494. said, brother, we have $10,000 to give your church.

  495. And I shouted really loud and went back in my little office,

  496. which was in my closet, and I wrote 50 more emails and for 12

  497. weeks, because it's 12 weeks later that we had the the

  498. deadline for buying, putting the paying for that $150,000.

  499. And for 12 weeks, I can only explain it as if God just opened

  500. the windows of heaven almost every day.

  501. I was texting all our people. You know, I'd start texting

  502. somebody called, they got $1000 for the building and I'd get all

  503. these texts back. And I was texting And then

  504. before I got done texting everybody, somebody else had

  505. call. They didn't tell me afterwards.

  506. I could all the way at the end they said, you know what group

  507. texting is? I had no idea.

  508. So I I could have gotten saved a lot of time, but with with one

  509. church after another church. Even think about this, even the

  510. Blancos found $1000 which is a huge sacrifice.

  511. And over the course of 12 weeks there were amazing things.

  512. I can summarize it by saying even people that I know didn't

  513. like me gave money. To the church.

  514. And at the end of that we had not just 150,000, we had

  515. $374,000 in cash and we put 250,000 on the building and

  516. moved into the building. I'll show you some pictures.

  517. We had the 3rd anniversary of the church as a building

  518. dedication. Had 194 people in church that

  519. day. And then then in October of that

  520. year we went full time. We told our supporting churches

  521. you were supporting us. And I'd I'd sent that letter

  522. out. We went independent.

  523. And in December I was opening up the church building 1 Sunday

  524. morning walking around the church and I forgot to open the

  525. mail from Friday and I found a letter and it opened it up and

  526. it was an anonymous check for a quarter $1,000,000 more to pay

  527. off all of the mortgage. We were able to fix the roof and

  528. and The thing is totally debt free.

  529. Let me show you some pictures of it what you're seeing.

  530. On the right is our library. The left is our Chapel room.

  531. That's where I teach the Bible institute and our main kitchen.

  532. There are 4 kitchens in the building.

  533. And on the left is the lunch room.

  534. We have vacation Bible school. This is the auditorium on the

  535. day we had 190. 4. And by the way, they had last

  536. Sunday a special day and had 203 new record in the church last

  537. Sunday had about 12 people walk the aisle to be saved and five

  538. of them seemed ready and got saved.

  539. And it's amazing what God has done the the pipe organ in that

  540. building is worth much more than we paid for the building 12150

  541. pipes. And it's a kind of organ that

  542. when you play it, it rattles the floor when you're playing it.

  543. It's amazing that the nicest building in that, probably that

  544. whole, that region, maybe the whole state belongs to a Bible

  545. preaching separated Baptist Church.

  546. I've seen God do some things. I rejoice in that.

  547. Notice our second point in verse #3 because thy loving kindness

  548. is better than life. You know what's better than

  549. life? Watching God in your life, I

  550. mean, you can say, well, what was your life made of?

  551. Well, I worked this job and I I have a good retirement, I have a

  552. nice house, I go on nice vacations, and all of that would

  553. gladly be traded for seeing the presence of God in your life.

  554. Point #2 is the word pleasure. Pleasure, it's better than life,

  555. houses and cars. And when you see him, there's

  556. nothing else that will ever match up to the glory of God.

  557. Working #3 and verse 4 is the word praise the result of this,

  558. thus the result of what I've seen and God's greatness that

  559. I've watched. Is that it is?

  560. Better than life. And my lips shall praise thee.

  561. Thus will I bless Thee. While I live, I will lift up my

  562. hands in thy name. It's something that can't be

  563. held in. It's the praise that ought to be

  564. due to Him for everything that he's done.

  565. But when you see God do miracles in your own life and in your own

  566. family, you get to see the presence of God.

  567. It's like when the Lord put it on my heart to give the house to

  568. the church. And I don't recommend that.

  569. The Holy Spirit told me so I'll obey him.

  570. And I brought my kids together and I said, I just want you to

  571. know that God's laid this on my heart.

  572. And you know, any hope of an inheritance just disappeared,

  573. you know, And my oldest son said.

  574. Dad, that's all right, because every time you do something like

  575. this, we get to see God. And I'd rather have that for my

  576. children, the faith born in their heart, not because there's

  577. a promise placed on a wall plaque, but they have lived and

  578. experienced that God wants to do something in your life.

  579. And I've seen it. #4 is the word plenty.

  580. Look what verse? Five says my soul shall be

  581. satisfied. And the world doesn't understand

  582. this. You see, the joy that they find

  583. in their earthly things is nothing compared to the joy when

  584. God does something in your life and you're in the will of God

  585. and you're working for Him and God is showing up.

  586. In other words, the joy that they things are calling joy

  587. don't compare to the real joy that is the sustaining through

  588. all of the battles and all of the trials.

  589. The joy of the Lord is our strength and when you see that

  590. He will satisfy you. It is a satisfaction that

  591. reaches down into the deepest part of your soul.

  592. It is the satisfaction that will raise you up in this world to

  593. have a vision of heaven in this life like nobody else that walks

  594. in this earth will ever know. Notice the pondering in verse #6

  595. When I remember thee upon my bed, what do you think about in

  596. your idle moments? And meditate on thee in the

  597. night watches. I'll tell you what you talk

  598. about the regeneration of that church in Idaho.

  599. That witnessed the power of God demonstrated all of the rest of

  600. their lives they will be talking about.

  601. Let me tell you how we got this building.

  602. I mean everybody comes into that building said wow, what a

  603. beautiful place. Look at the stained glass and

  604. the people that were there. They always say, let me tell you

  605. what God did. And that's what people in this

  606. world need. It is an amazing thing.

  607. The last point is the protection of God.

  608. Look at verse #7 Because thou has been my help.

  609. Therefore, in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice the

  610. protection that comes. Under the shadow of his wings.

  611. And I've had to run there in temptation and in trials and in

  612. danger and, and the things that have happened to us as a family

  613. and the things that we've gone through and whether it be the.

  614. You know, the hurricane that filled our house with four feet

  615. of water running through the bottom floor and our roof kind

  616. of every. It was like it was breathing.

  617. It kept getting sucked up and we're looking out the window and

  618. there goes our neighbors roof down.

  619. We don't know where it went. We never found it.

  620. And amazing what God's will can do, put you in those places

  621. where you say I have nowhere to go but the shadow of his wings.

  622. And I've been there and I can tell you that he'll.

  623. Protect you there, parents, Let your children go and serve the

  624. Lord. They are safest under the shadow

  625. of his wings, even if that means in some foreign land serving and

  626. preaching the gospel someplace to people that you don't know.

  627. And you say, I'd like to have my children right next to us and by

  628. us, and so would we. And but yet God can protect them

  629. and guide them and make their life fruitful.

  630. And at the end of it, you will glorify God and say, Oh glory to

  631. God, my children are serving the Lord.

  632. But in giving of their hearts, let God protect your family, the

  633. shadow of his wings, the protection that he wants.

  634. The greatest part is the people people like this is on a special

  635. picnic day. I took a shot just.

  636. Threw it up there, but look at the left hand side up there with

  637. the McLaughlin family and she was saved, married a Catholic

  638. and for 60 plus years she prayed that God would save him.

  639. She went to different churches and when we showed up, she saw

  640. that our church was the church she should be in.

  641. And she became one of its earlier members in the first few

  642. months of the church. And we began praying for her

  643. husband. He started attending church and

  644. listening to the sermons. And he's a, he's a, he's a very,

  645. he's not, he's, he's a studier. And he liked that the Bible was

  646. open, He said, all of his life as a Catholic.

  647. They never read the Bible. And it was really special as he

  648. got closer and closer to understanding salvation, what

  649. really brought it to a head was I had Pastor Blanco come from

  650. Belize and preach and he talked about how he got saved, you

  651. know, from from an altar boy to a preacher of the gospel is the

  652. type of sermon he preached. And and it was Terry's testimony

  653. of being an altar boy. And he came to me and he said,

  654. Pastor, can I come and see you tomorrow?

  655. He came in my. Office.

  656. And he bowed his head and prayed and asked Jesus to save him.

  657. After 60 years, after 60 years, you should have seen her cry

  658. through the next time we were all together at the Lord's Table

  659. and she just cried partaking with her saved.

  660. Husband, you see, these are the stories and by the way, this is

  661. this is certainly fruit to the account of this church for

  662. supporting this ministry for so long.

  663. Look at what God's called us to do after my son.

  664. We had trained him, you know, he graduated there from our Bible

  665. institute. There he is getting his degree

  666. and there we are ordaining him on my son's in the middle of

  667. that picture. And Debbie's dad is on his right

  668. and my dad is on his left. And I'm past my dad and all

  669. these preachers, a heritage of preachers.

  670. And we thank God for that. And my son ordained, you know,

  671. my father-in-law started a church and my dad started a

  672. church and I've started 2 churches.

  673. And my son, he, he said, well, I got to find a place to start a

  674. church. That's the family business, I

  675. guess. And but after the Lord was

  676. leading on my heart, I went to him.

  677. And even though he's young, I said, would you pray about being

  678. the next pastor? And he prayed and fasted.

  679. Doesn't that sound familiar? And he came back and he said,

  680. I'm really surprised, but I believe God wants me to be here

  681. long term. And Debbie's parents are there

  682. helping him. In February, they voted

  683. unanimously and then to take him as their pastor.

  684. And he is doing a great job. He used to work for Charlie

  685. Kirk. And this assassination is really

  686. allowed him to have an inroads in people's lives and people are

  687. getting saved. We had a good time last week,

  688. but he's been dealing with people, especially the days

  689. right afterwards. Every day.

  690. He said he had over 100 phone calls.

  691. God's been working and doing the work on him, on our other two

  692. children that are all there serving the Lord.

  693. It reminds me of this. I mean, you know, my son is the

  694. pastor, His younger brother is the song leader, an adult Sunday

  695. school teacher, and his brother-in-law, my son-in-law,

  696. is in the sound booth and he's running security and he keeps

  697. the financial books on the computer for them.

  698. And, you know, the Lord's worked and the church has grown.

  699. There are people in that church that I did not know.

  700. And it's only been since May. God has a plan.

  701. If we just follow God's plan here, we have this great city.

  702. I love this city, the concrete jungle, right?

  703. It is known as the city of DL Moody.

  704. Moody Bible Institute is there. They preach the gospel.

  705. You know, they're hardly, you could find the gospel there, but

  706. it's not proclaimed like it used to be.

  707. And it's sad. It's no longer the city of BL

  708. Moody. It was known for the city where

  709. Billy Sunday not only played baseball, but he got saved and

  710. we used to go and preach. At the Pacific.

  711. Guard mission right where he got saved and but now it's known for

  712. its crimes and violence, it's homicides, it's gang riots and

  713. looting and everything else. But there are.

  714. Millions of people there who need the gospel and we know what

  715. is not the answer, right? The answer is not woke.

  716. This. I mean, we have Lori Lightfoot

  717. on one side and they she was so bad they threw her out and

  718. decided to put another guy in and they got a guy, Brandon

  719. Johnson. Who's who's worse?

  720. More woke. Than she was, if that's

  721. possible. He's trying to outlaw Christian

  722. education and homeschooling in the city of Chicago.

  723. Why? Why not work on a lot of other?

  724. Problems that he has. It's not the answer, but what is

  725. the answer? The Bible is the answer.

  726. We have the gospel. It is amazing to me and I and I

  727. really believe in this, that families that can leave the city

  728. and say I want to raise my kids in a better environment.

  729. I say Amen. But at the same time, we ought

  730. to have we that are pastors. And have the answer in our

  731. hands. We ought to be running into

  732. those places where the fire is the hottest and where the the

  733. the gospel light is the darkest. And, and, and it ought to be our

  734. goal to plant churches and reach the people.

  735. With the gospel answer and this is what we desire to do it by

  736. the grace of God. We're going to go to Portage

  737. Park, which is halfway between O'Hare Airport and the Loop, the

  738. downtown area, and this is our just our target area.

  739. The whole, the whole outline there.

  740. I've had people ask that whole outline.

  741. Is the city of Chicago. It's just that a.

  742. Lot of big. Cities are all divided up into

  743. neighborhoods. Not cities, not not communities,

  744. not suburbs. The suburbs are beyond this, but

  745. inside. There are 77 neighborhoods in

  746. the city of Chicago. And this is just, we highlighted

  747. an area that is sort of a target spot or target area for us to

  748. go. And here's an aerial view from

  749. that area looking back at the Loop at the downtown buildings.

  750. And you'll notice the bottom there that those are called

  751. bungalows. It's this Chicago phenomena of,

  752. of of 10s of I don't know how many, there's probably several,

  753. 100,000 of these in the city. They call it a bungalow belt.

  754. It goes around this area of Chicago, even around the South

  755. Side. And they're, they're kind of

  756. skinny longer. Houses with a little gangway in

  757. between, usually paved like a sidewalk.

  758. You know the. About four feet you can open

  759. your window and wash your dishes and talk to your neighbor

  760. washing her dishes at the same time.

  761. And but it's a lot of doors to get to individual home, single

  762. family dwellings where there are literally millions, 3 millions

  763. of people that need the Lord Jesus Christ.

  764. Pastor Courtney Lewis, you know him well.

  765. He does a good job in the city of Chicago.

  766. He is down on the South side of the city from the where the

  767. downtown is. He is in Hyde Park.

  768. They'll be approximately 2 million people between His

  769. church and where we're going to start the church.

  770. And our timing is that we've already moved it up, planning to

  771. start the church on June 14th at this point.

  772. And the support is already coming in, in, in in a great and

  773. fast way. You look at this last point as

  774. we close in your conclusion in verse #8 my soul followeth heart

  775. after thee. Thy right hand upholdeth me.

  776. After everything the Lord's done for us, there's something that

  777. happens in the heart of a Christian that has seen this is

  778. they say Lord, there isn't anything else worth it.

  779. I want to see more. I want to see God do better

  780. things, greater things. I want to see more of the

  781. release of those that are trapped in sin after receiving

  782. Christ finding victory. And the life.

  783. Totally given over to God. I want to be that kind of

  784. person. I want God to do better things.

  785. I want, I want it to be known that I'm giving everything I

  786. have all the rest of my life to the Lord Jesus Christ.

  787. And is that your calling? Isn't it all of Our Calling?

  788. That your soul, not just something you do, but your heart

  789. that pursues God in a way that you could say my soul followeth

  790. hard? Or are you following your
