  1. And it's just so encouraging. I'm so thankful for the live

  2. stream when I'm in college because every Sunday afternoon,

  3. I'll try the best I can to always tune into the service and

  4. watch it after it's over. And I remember one time, I think

  5. it was in September, maybe late August, they had, we had 10

  6. baptisms. Is that what it was?

  7. And that's amazing. Obviously we know baptism

  8. doesn't save you, but I believe it is a symbol and a picture of

  9. what God is doing here in your lives.

  10. And and y'all have been such an encouragement to me over my time

  11. here. I'm just thankful for the summer

  12. that I got to spend here and just being back.

  13. It's really special to me. So I'm praying for y'all and I'm

  14. just ready for the future and thankful to see what God's been

  15. doing through you all. So let's get right in the

  16. message tonight. Turn your Bibles to the book of

  17. Luke. Luke chapter #8 is where we're

  18. going to be tonight. Familiar story.

  19. I believe many of you will at some point in your Bible reading

  20. or in time in church either heard a message preached on this

  21. or just read it yourself. But we're going to pick up in

  22. Luke chapter 8 and verse #41 Luke 841.

    Luke 8 chapter mention

  23. And it says, And behold, there came a man named Gyrus, and he

  24. was a ruler of the synagogue, And he fell down at Jesus's

  25. feet, and besought him that he would come into his house, for

  26. he had one only daughter above 12 years of age, and she lay a

  27. dying. But as he went, the people

  28. thronged him. Let's skip down to verse #49

  29. Luke 849. It says, While he yet spake,

  30. there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house,

  31. saying, saying, To him, Thy daughter is dead, trouble not

  32. the Master. But when Jesus heard it, he

  33. answered him, saying, Fear not, believe only, and she shall be

  34. made whole. And when he came into the house,

  35. he suffered no man to go in, and save Peter and James, and John,

  36. and the Father, and the mother of the maiden, And all wept and

  37. bewailed her. But he said, Weep not, she is

  38. not dead, but sleepeth. And when they laughed him to

  39. scorn, knowing that she was dead, and he put them all out,

  40. and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid arise.

  41. And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway, and he

  42. commanded to give her meat. And her parents were astonished,

  43. but he charged them that they should tell no man what was

  44. done. I want you to notice with me a

  45. small phrase in verse #50 but I believe a very important phrase

  46. and very important words of Jesus and verse #50 Jesus says

  47. fear not, believe only. Let's pray.

  48. Dear my Father, I think we're for this church.

  49. Dear God, I think we're for this place that we can come and

  50. worship you. I think we're for the people to

  51. make up this body. Or I pray that you would just be

  52. with each and every person that's here tonight, pray with

  53. you and meet their needs, be with each situation.

  54. I pray with you would speak to hearts, speak through me.

  55. Father, do it only you can. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

  56. So the phrase that we're looking at in verse #50 it says fear

  57. not, believe only. And no doubt in our world today,

  58. in our society, there's a lot of fear.

  59. It, it just seems to be this culture going around a fear from

  60. every single direction. Everywhere you look, people are

  61. scared out of their minds. And you saw a lot of that,

  62. especially in some Christian circles, right back in September

  63. when Charlie Kirk was assassinated, you saw a lot of

  64. fear. A lot of fear.

  65. Talk was going around. A lot of people were saying, oh,

  66. well, they're coming after us now.

  67. I don't know if I feel safe to go to church anymore.

  68. I don't know if I feel safe to go out and door knock.

  69. I don't know this or I don't know that there's a lot of fear

  70. brewing around. But I want you to know that we

  71. as Christians, we have no reason to fear because we have the

  72. promises of God that He can say fear, not believe only.

  73. And that's exactly what we need to do.

  74. And I believe a lot of times it's fear that keeps us as

  75. Christians from not witnessing to the people that we should.

  76. I remember one time when I was in high school, I was one of the

  77. older teenagers in the youth group, and we were on teen

  78. visitation on Wednesday afternoon.

  79. And I was with a younger teenager because they paired the

  80. older up with the younger. I was with one of the younger

  81. teens and we were walking down the sidewalk one day in the

  82. neighborhood where we were visiting.

  83. And there was this, I'm not going to lie, he was a scary

  84. looking guy. And he was walking down the

  85. street. I don't know if he was homeless

  86. or lived in the area, but from the look of this guy, he did not

  87. own any of the houses in the area that we were living.

  88. So he had tattoos up and down his arms.

  89. I mean, long, scraggly beard. He had those like, I don't know

  90. what they're called, the earrings that give you the big

  91. holes in your earlobe, whatever they're called.

  92. Yeah, and he had those and the team, the little team beside me,

  93. he didn't know any better. He just, you know, a kid, he

  94. goes we should give a track to that guy.

  95. And you know, I in the five second period of him saying that

  96. and us passing the guy, I had a decision to make.

  97. I was thinking in my head, I was like, I really don't want to

  98. talk to this person. I was like, I don't know if he's

  99. going to take my wallet, which still doesn't have any money in

  100. it. So I don't know why.

  101. I don't know why I was scared of that.

  102. But I was like, I don't know what this guy's going to do to

  103. us. We stand there and talk to him.

  104. But this, it convicted me when the kid said you need to give a

  105. track to that guy. So I did.

  106. And when we were talking to that guy, he he didn't, he didn't

  107. cuss us out. He didn't try to fight us.

  108. He didn't try to argue with us. He took the track.

  109. He said, thank you very much. I've been looking for a church.

  110. And I was thinking to myself, if I had to let fear control me in

  111. that moment, if I had to let my fear take a hold of my mind and

  112. my actions, I would have never given that guy a track.

  113. Now, I don't know what he did with it.

  114. I don't know if he took it and read it or if he just took it

  115. and shoved it in his backpack, never saw it again.

  116. Who knows? He could have read it and

  117. trusted Christ as Savior. We'll never know until we get to

  118. heaven. But that's the thing.

  119. We as Christians cannot let fear control what we do.

  120. We cannot let fear control our minds, control our actions, and

  121. control what we do and why we do it.

  122. That we cannot have a spirit of fear.

  123. And you know the funny part is all that these people had to do

  124. for their daughter to be made whole is fear not and believe

  125. only. And I wonder if the same is true

  126. of our world today. I wonder if the same is true of

  127. our country today is if God's people would hear the call of

  128. Jesus to fear not and believe only.

  129. I wonder if our nation could be made whole.

  130. I wonder if our churches could be made whole if people would

  131. get it out of their minds that we need to be quiet people, we

  132. need to be scared people and just hideaway in a corner

  133. somewhere. No, God's people need to be

  134. bold. And God's people need to go out

  135. with the good news of the gospel and get as many people in church

  136. and as many people saved as we possibly can while we're here in

  137. this planet because we are commanded by God.

  138. So fear not and believe only. So why should the believer be

  139. able to set aside their fear and trust Christ?

  140. You say, Justin, you said a lot that Christians need to be these

  141. bold people that don't need to have any fear at all.

  142. But why? Well #1 let's get right into our

  143. points. Christ has always been the

  144. solution to the problem. He was the answer to Gyrus's

  145. problem here. Gyrus had a problem and he knew

  146. just where to go. He went to Jesus.

  147. Gyrus probably said, my daughter is dying.

  148. I don't know, she could be dead right now.

  149. I don't know. Jesus, can you come and just

  150. take a look at her, please? And obviously I'm paraphrasing,

  151. but Jesus said, yes, I'm going to come and I'm going to take a

  152. look at your daughter. But Gyrus knew where to go for

  153. his problems. And I wonder, is the same true

  154. for us? Do you know where to go in your

  155. many, many times we know where we should go in our problems,

  156. but do we go there in our problems, in our tough times, We

  157. need to run to the feet of Jesus.

  158. And I remember this may be a little bit of a silly example,

  159. but in elementary school, my best friend was sitting right

  160. beside me. And I remember we had a test

  161. that day. I didn't study too well, but I

  162. knew we had a test. And so I was in there.

  163. I was a little nervous. I really, I mean, it was

  164. science, so I really didn't care at the time.

  165. But I was in there and I was sitting around and ready for the

  166. test. And my friend walks in and I

  167. mean, he's, you could tell he was stressed out and he was

  168. nervous. And I look at him like, you OK.

  169. And he says, I forgot about the test today.

  170. If I'm telling you, I've never seen this kid pray more

  171. fervently in his life. He was sitting beside me in his

  172. desk. I look over as the teacher's

  173. passing out the desk and he has his hands folded like this and

  174. he's sitting in his desk. But you know what I was thinking

  175. when I was preparing this message and that illustration

  176. popped up in my mind. I was thinking he know where to

  177. go in his problems. He had that, although it may

  178. have been a silly example, a silly reason.

  179. He knew exactly where to run to and his time of need.

  180. He knew exactly where to go to and his time of difficulty.

  181. And the same should be true of us.

  182. We know where to go. We have the answers in this book

  183. and in Jesus Christ. But do we go there?

  184. Jesus has always been the solution to our problems.

  185. We as humans had and still have a big problem now, don't we?

  186. It's called sin. But aren't you thankful that

  187. Christ was the answer to that problem for us?

  188. He came and sent His Son, died on a cross three days later.

  189. Rose again was beaten for you, was mocked for you, was

  190. ridiculed for you and for me, and then he rose again, defeated

  191. death, hell and the grave, and took care of our sin problem and

  192. all we have to do is accept Him into our hearts and trust Him

  193. that He'll take us to heaven one day.

  194. Christ has defeated and was the solution to our sin problem,

  195. which is inevitably our biggest problem and our world's problems

  196. today. Many people in the Bible all

  197. throughout Scripture, Jesus is proven to be the solution and

  198. you don't have to look far to find this point proven.

  199. Look at Luke chapter 8 verse #43 Luke 843 same chapter.

    Luke 8 chapter mention

  200. This is actually Jesus is on his way to Gyruss's house and this

  201. happens to him and says and a woman having an issue of blood

  202. 12 years which has spent all of her living upon physicians.

  203. Aren't you thankful that our hope is not in the doctor.

  204. I will say that neither could be healed of any came behind him

  205. and touched the border of His garment and immediately her

  206. issue of blood was stenched. This this lady who had an issue

  207. of blood for 12 years, she was dealing with this problem with

  208. blood for 12 years and as soon as she went to Jesus and touched

  209. His garment, her issue of blood was stopped, as though that word

  210. stenched means it was completely stopped.

  211. It was gone. Why?

  212. She knew where to go with her problems.

  213. She had faith enough in Jesus Christ and belief enough in

  214. Jesus to go to her with her problems.

  215. Look at Luke 8 verse #22 Luke 822.

  216. A lot of examples of belief in Christ in this chapter.

  217. Luke 822 says, Now it came to pass on a certain day that he

  218. went into a ship with his disciples, and he said unto

  219. them, Let us go over onto the other side of the lake, and they

  220. launched forth. But as they sailed, he fell

  221. asleep and there came down a storm of wind on the lake, and

  222. they were filled with water and were in jeopardy.

  223. And they came to him and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we

  224. perish. Then he arose and rebuked the

  225. wind and the raging of the water, and they see, and they

  226. ceased and there was a calm. Now the disciples when they were

  227. on the boat with Jesus, and the storms blowing, the winds

  228. blowing, and Jesus is sleeping, where did they go in their time

  229. of need? They didn't look all around the

  230. boat and say, oh we can handle this, we can do this, we can

  231. make it out of this storm by ourselves.

  232. They went straight to Jesus because they knew He would be

  233. their only hope in their time of need.

  234. He was their only solution to the problem.

  235. Jesus Christ has always been the solution to the problem.

  236. Go back to Luke 7, Luke 7. I didn't have to look very far

  237. to find these illustrations and I believe that's for a reason,

  238. is because I believe Jesus is trying to make a very specific

  239. point in this part of the book of Luke that if we will just

  240. believe Him, that's when our problems will have a solution.

  241. That's when our problems will be taken care of.

  242. Luke 7, verse 11. Luke 7, verse 11, it says, And

    Luke 7:11 Luke 7:11

  243. it came to pass that day after they went into a city called

  244. Nain, and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.

  245. Now when He came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there

  246. was a certain there was a dead man carried out, the only son of

  247. his mother, and she was a widow, and much people of the city was

  248. with her. And when the Lord saw her, He

  249. had, He had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

  250. And He came and touched the beer.

  251. And they that bare him stood still.

  252. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, arise this man.

  253. He had faith enough to go to Jesus with his problems.

  254. If we as Christians today could get it into our minds that Jesus

  255. is the answer, then and only then will we see victory over

  256. our problems. I think of many other examples

  257. in the Bible. The man that was lowered into

  258. the house when he was sick, when he had problems, the his poor

  259. friends that lowered him into that house, his four friends had

  260. faith enough to go to Jesus with his problem and so that he could

  261. be made whole, and he was. But we have to have faith enough

  262. and belief enough in Jesus Christ.

  263. Get all the fear out of our minds and believe only in Jesus

  264. Christ that He is the solution to our problems.

  265. Don't go to the world to solve your issues.

  266. Our hope is not in some therapist.

  267. Our hope is not in the doctor. Our hope is not in the

  268. physicians or the psychiatrist of this world.

  269. Our hope is in Jesus Christ and He is and forever will be the

  270. only solution to our problems. So #2 we, why should we be able

  271. to cast fear out of our lives? Why should we be able to set

  272. fear aside? We can believe God because he

  273. has always been faithful. I don't think there's a person

  274. in here that could raise their hand and say Jesus has never

  275. been faithful to me. Jesus has not been faithful to

  276. me in my time of need, when I've been going through a tough time,

  277. when I've been in trouble, when I've had problems in my life,

  278. whatever it may be, Jesus has not been faithful.

  279. I don't think there's anybody in here that could say that.

  280. Why? Because Jesus has always been

  281. faithful from day one. When I think about people in the

  282. Bible who Jesus was faithful to, Joseph immediately pops into my

  283. mind. Let's take a look at the story

  284. of Joseph in Genesis chapter 37. Turn over to Genesis chapter 37.

Genesis 37 chapter mention Genesis 37 chapter mention

  285. We'll look at the story of Joseph.

  286. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers.

  287. And then you know the story. So let's start reading in verse

  288. #23 of Genesis 37. And it came to pass, when Joseph

  289. was come unto his brother, and that they stripped Joseph of his

  290. coat, his coat of many colors that was on him.

  291. And they took him and cast him into a pit.

  292. And the pit was empty. There was no water in it.

  293. And they sat down to eat bread. And they lifted up their eyes

  294. and looked. And behold, a company of

  295. Ishmaelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing

  296. spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.

  297. Turn over to chapter #50 of Genesis.

  298. Genesis chapter #50 This is 50 verse 18 closing verses of the

  299. chapter or the book of Genesis. And it says, And his brethren

  300. also went and fell down before his face.

  301. This is Joseph's brethren falling down before Joseph.

  302. And they said, Behold, we be thy servants.

  303. And Joseph said unto them, Fear not, for I am in the place of

  304. God, but As for you, ye thought evil against me, but God meant

  305. it unto good to bring to pass as it is this day, to save much

  306. people alive. I can imagine when Joseph was

  307. thrown into the pit by his brothers, when he was taken and

  308. sold into slavery by his own kin, I can imagine what was

  309. going through his head. He was probably doubting God.

  310. He was probably questioning God. I don't know what was going

  311. through his mind. I can imagine the questions I

  312. would be asking of God. Why are you letting this happen

  313. to me? God, what are you doing?

  314. But you know what? Only God can take a situation

  315. that bad and turn it out into so much good like you did for

  316. Joseph. He turned Joseph's situation

  317. better than it could have ever turned out if if man would have

  318. gotten a hold of it should. God was faithful in Joseph's

  319. life and he will be faithful in your life as well.

  320. You may think your situation is too far gone or your situation

  321. is hopeless, but God is always the solution to our problems and

  322. He will always be faithful. Now you may not always get the

  323. results you were hoping for, but you know what, God is still

  324. faithful. You may be thinking to yourself,

  325. well why did God give me this answer to my problems?

  326. Why? You may be praying for a prayer

  327. request for many times and you may be thinking to yourself, I

  328. don't know why this came into my life.

  329. I don't know why God gave me this answer to my problem, but

  330. God is always faithful and He always takes our problems and

  331. turns them into good. If you will simply set your fear

  332. aside and keep believing in Christ, you will find that He is

  333. always faithful. And you know, there's a lot that

  334. college has taught me over my four years at Crown, but I

  335. believe one of the main things that God's really taught me

  336. since high school is that He is always faithful.

  337. I remember when I first got to Crown, and I believe I've told

  338. this story before, but I didn't know a soul.

  339. I didn't even know why I was there, to be totally honest with

  340. you. I was sitting in my dorm and I

  341. was thinking to myself, I don't know anybody.

  342. I'm not friends with anybody. I'm sitting here all alone.

  343. I don't know where to turn to. And I was sitting there and I

  344. was praying and all of a sudden, as soon as I prayed for a

  345. friend, my friend who I've been best friends with for four

  346. years, walked right around the corner and we started talking

  347. and we were best friends. And you know what?

  348. That was God saying to me, I'm going to take care of you.

  349. I'm going to be faithful to you. And he has been ever since.

  350. So #2 we can believe God because he has always been faithful #3

  351. Do not let unbelief have the victory over you.

  352. If God tells us to fear not and believe only, then we better not

  353. as Christians let unbelief get the victory over us.

  354. And no doubt, many times when a big, like when a team is playing

  355. another sports team, many times before that game, both coaches

  356. will tell their teams, Believe in yourself.

  357. You better believe that you can go out there and win this game.

  358. Why? Because they know if their team

  359. has any doubt at all in their mind that they can win this

  360. game, they know if their team has any unbelief in themselves

  361. at all, then they're at a huge disadvantage.

  362. I am a huge Virginia basketball fan.

  363. And some of you know that and some of you don't.

  364. Some of you don't care about basketball, and that's OK.

  365. But in 2018, the Virginia Cavaliers were by far the best

  366. team in college basketball. They were by far the number one

  367. seed undisputed, and they were playing the number 16 seed in

  368. the March Madness tournament, the 16 seed being the lowest

  369. seed you can possibly play. So we had the best team in the

  370. nation against one of the worst teams in the nation.

  371. But if you watch the game, you know the story.

  372. The team was UMBC and they go into the game and they were

  373. confident. You could tell right off the bat

  374. that they knew what they were doing.

  375. They executed well. They were confident.

  376. And you can see their confidence over time just building as

  377. throughout the game, they started getting up on Virginia.

  378. They started getting up by 10:15.

  379. Before you knew it, they were up by 20 on the best team in the

  380. nation. Why?

  381. Because as their confidence grew, as they started seeing

  382. victory, as they started seeing the results they wanted, their

  383. confidence got greater and greater and greater.

  384. And the same is true of our spiritual life.

  385. If we will simply just put our faith in the Lord, if we will

  386. simply believe God and take Him in His Word, then over time we

  387. will start seeing victory. We will start seeing victories

  388. won here, victories won there. And over time, our faith will

  389. start to grow. Our confidence in God and our

  390. faith in Christ will begin to grow.

  391. Just as that team that had no business beating Virginia was

  392. able to beat Virginia, we and our confidence that God will be

  393. able to grow over time as well. Do not let unnecessary,

  394. unnecessary fear and unbelief be a burden to you.

  395. Don't ever let unnecessary fear and belief be a burden to you.

  396. Turn over to Hebrews chapter 12, Hebrews 12, the very familiar

    Hebrews 12 chapter mention

  397. verse. It says, Wherefore, seeing we

  398. also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let

  399. us lay aside every weight in the sin which does so easily beset

  400. us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

  401. Unbelief and fear in the life of a believer will be such an

  402. unnecessary burden. Now you have to bear with me on

  403. this, because I'm not the strongest guy.

  404. I have here with me weights and I want one to represent fear and

  405. I want the other to represent unbelief.

  406. And as a Christian, if you walk through your life with unbelief

  407. and fear and you're holding them in your hands, you're keeping

  408. those weight on your back, you'll be able to walk for a

  409. little while, But what's going to start to happen?

  410. You're going to start to get tired.

  411. You're going to start to get weighed down.

  412. Your hands are going to start to get tired.

  413. If you hold on to that unnecessary unbelief and fear,

  414. you may say, I don't know how I can pay my taxes this year.

  415. I don't know how God's going to take care of this or how God's

  416. going to take care of that. But you know what?

  417. If we will just set aside unbelief and we will set aside

  418. our fear and just put them at the foot of the cross and at the

  419. feet of Jesus, what happens? I can walk around so much

  420. easier. I can walk around, not always

  421. stress free, but I can walk around pretty confident in God

  422. that He's going to take care of those burdens because He has in

  423. the past. Everything gets twice so much

  424. more easy. If we would just take our

  425. burdens. We'll take our unbelief and

  426. we'll take our fear and we'll cast them at the foot of the

  427. cross and allow Jesus to take those burdens and He will.

  428. And He's done it time and time again.

  429. So as I said before, unbelief is a total and unnecessary burden

  430. that you just need to put at the foot of Jesus.

  431. You cannot keep all of those worries and burdens in your life

  432. and expect to live the victorious Christian life.

  433. You cannot do it. And many times it makes me laugh

  434. sometimes we as Christians will trust Jesus Christ with our

  435. soul, will trust Jesus Christ to take us to heaven and forgive us

  436. for our sins and take us to spend an eternity with Him.

  437. We'll trust Him with our eternity, but we won't trust Him

  438. with our finances. We won't trust Him with that

  439. person that we're going to date. We won't trust Him with sickness

  440. that may have come into our life or some bad situation.

  441. We won't trust Him. You know why?

  442. Because Satan wants nothing more than to put that fear and to put

  443. that unbelief in the heart of a believer.

  444. If you're going to trust Jesus Christ with your soul, it should

  445. be so much easier to trust Him with the small problems of life.

  446. So let's move on to our 4th and final point.

  447. Tonight. Let's review the points that

  448. we've gone through so far. Christ has always been the

  449. solution to the problem. We can believe God because He's

  450. always been faithful. We cannot let unbelief have the

  451. victory over us. And our 4th and final point, we

  452. can believe God because of the promises and His holy word.

  453. Turn in your Bibles to Isaiah chapter 43, Isaiah 43.

    Isaiah 43 chapter mention

  454. I love these verses. I've been reading them for as

  455. long as I can remember, and I go to these verses whenever I'm

  456. have something big coming up in my life, or if I have problems

  457. that I'm trying to get through. And I hope you can do the same.

  458. Isaiah 43. Let's start reading in verse #1.

  459. But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he

  460. that hath formed thee, O Israel, fear not, for I have redeemed

  461. thee. I have called thee by thy name.

  462. Thou art mine. When thou pass this through the

  463. waters, I will be with thee, and through the rivers they shall

  464. not overflow thee. When thou walkest through the

  465. fire, thou shall not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle

  466. upon thee. Now, I don't know about you, but

  467. those verses, they just encourage me.

  468. They strengthen me. They lift me up.

  469. Whatever I'm about to go into or whatever problem I'm about to

  470. face, I always like to go to these verses because it's just a

  471. reminder that no matter how low I may get in life, no matter how

  472. bad my problems may be in this world, they're only going to be

  473. temporary. Number one, you notice it says

  474. when thou passes through the fire, we're always going through

  475. our problems, aren't we were never just sitting in the fire.

  476. We're never just sitting in the fire.

  477. Jesus Christ is always going through the problems with us

  478. just when we're passing through the fire.

  479. But these verses are such an encouragement, so many more that

  480. we can find in the Bible and I just want to read a couple that

  481. I have written down here. Deuteronomy 31 eight, you don't

  482. have to turn there. You can just listen.

  483. Deuteronomy 31 eight it says, And the Lord He, it is the

  484. death, go before thee, He will be with thee.

  485. He will not fail thee, neither forsake thee.

  486. Fear not, neither be dismayed. Joshua 119 Have I not commanded

  487. thee? Be strong, and of a good

  488. courage? Be not afraid, neither be thou

  489. dismayed. For the Lord thy God is with

  490. thee whithersoever thou goest. And then Matthew 2820, The Great

  491. Commission, the command given to all believers ever since the day

  492. that Christ descended into heaven, and until He comes back

  493. and gets us, this is our command.

  494. It says, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever

  495. I've commanded you. And he doesn't just stop there.

  496. And he says, and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of

  497. the world. Amen.

  498. In these verses that I just read, you'll find a common theme

  499. in Deuteronomy 31. Eight It says, fear not, neither

  500. be dismayed. Joshua 19 It says, Be strong and

  501. of a good courage, be not afraid, neither be thou

  502. dismayed. And in Matthew 2820, Jesus, the

  503. Lord of all creations, says, Lo, I am with you always, even unto

  504. the end of the world. Amen.

  505. Whenever we as Christians go out into the world, whenever we go

  506. to make a difference for Christ, to help a fellow believer in

  507. their tough times, whatever we may be doing, Jesus says, I am

  508. with you always, even unto the end of the world.

  509. And that is the greatest promise that any of us could ever

  510. receive outside of heaven, I believe, is the fact that Jesus

  511. Christ is with us, that He's helping us.

  512. He's passing through the fire with me and He's going to help

  513. us take care of our problems, whatever it may be.

  514. Jesus Christ gives us promises in his Word that He is always

  515. going to be there with us in the tough times.

  516. We can set fear aside, we can set unbelief aside, and we can

  517. trust Jesus Christ and that's the greatest promise outside of

  518. salvation. I believe that we're given and

  519. all we have to do is trust him. All Gyrus had to do for his

  520. daughter to be healed was trust Jesus.

  521. Jesus Christ said fear not, believe only, and your daughter

  522. will be made whole. And I think if we as Christians

  523. could get that through our heads, that if we'll fear not

  524. and believe only, maybe our world could be made whole.

  525. Maybe our churches could be made whole.

  526. Maybe so and so who may be sick in the hospital could be made

  527. whole. It will just set aside our fear

  528. and our unbelief. And I want to close tonight by

  529. reading you the lyrics to a hymn.

  530. I was at college when I was working on this message, just

  531. last week actually. And I worked on the message.

  532. I finished it up for the most part outside of review before I

  533. came here. And I went to church on

  534. Wednesday night and I heard this song, How Firm a foundation.

  535. And I wrote down the lyrics to the song on my way to church

  536. tonight because I figured they would be a help because I know

  537. they spoke to me and I think they go along with the message

  538. tonight. And it goes along with our theme

  539. of why can we set aside fear and unbelief?

  540. Because Jesus Christ is our firm foundation.

  541. So some of the I didn't write down every verse.

  542. I only wrote down a couple. But it says in every condition,

  543. in sickness and health and poverty's veil or abounding in

  544. wealth at home and abroad, on the land or the sea, the Lord,

  545. the Almighty, your strength there shall be.

  546. And then another verse of the song says, fear not, I am with

  547. you, O be not dismayed, for I am your God and will still give you

  548. aid. I'll strengthen you, help you

  549. and cause you to stand upheld by my righteous omnipotent hand.

  550. And when the songs, when that song was sung, I was a Temple

  551. Baptist Church in Powell, TN where Crown College is, and the

  552. song was sung and I was thinking to myself as I was singing it.

  553. You know, that goes right along with what I was just studying

  554. about. Be not afraid, be neither, be

  555. that dismayed. And I was saying to myself,

  556. well, why can I set aside the fear and the unbelief?

  557. Because Jesus Christ is the firmest foundation that we could

  558. ever have. And so if I could just leave you

  559. with one thing tonight, it would just be set aside, the fear and

  560. the unbelief. And as the words of Jesus say,

  561. fear not, believe only. Let's pray, dear.

  562. Only Father, I think we're for this time that we've been given

  563. in your house tonight. I think we're for this church

  564. Father and all that it means to me thing were for the people

  565. here. I pray we're now that you would

  566. just be with each and every person that's here tonight.

  567. I pray with you. Help us to set aside the fear in

  568. our life. Help us or to set aside all of

  569. our unbelief and help us or to believe only in you because we

  570. know you can take care of every problem that's ever have that's

  571. ever been and that ever will be and I pray with you.

  572. Just give us great rest of the night.

  573. Help us or to set aside the fear and unbelief in our lives in

  574. Jesus and I pray. Amen.
