  1. Thank you brother George, it's a good message in song this

  2. morning. It's good to be here.

  3. I'm thankful for pastor allowing me and he asked me to if I would

  4. preach on this Sunday. I'm thankful for the

  5. opportunity. It's always a blessing to stand

  6. behind this sacred desk and preach the word of God.

  7. I believe the word of God is strong and powerful.

  8. I believe it's sharper than any 2 edged sword and I believe it's

  9. something that brings conviction to our lives.

  10. So I thank the pastor for that. I also want to say this, I was

  11. doing real good this week. I was doing real good until

  12. Friday came along and they had lift.

  13. That's when all the ladies get together and they, I think they

  14. discussed the book, don't they? OK, it's not just, it's not

  15. gossip, but somehow gossip enters into it.

  16. And for some reason I was doing real good.

  17. My wife did not know I was going to be preaching today.

  18. I was keeping it a secret and some woman amongst the ladies

  19. that were there mentioned. Well, we need to pray for

  20. Brother Richie, my wife. What for?

  21. What's wrong with him? Well, he's going to be preaching

  22. on Sunday. Really.

  23. She didn't know. I tried to keep these things

  24. secret. I was doing real good.

  25. I was writing my own message. I had one of the astute brethren

  26. here this morning asked me, Doc, if my wife had wrote my message

  27. for me. How did he know that?

  28. Is that some gossip that goes through the church that Sue

  29. writes Jim's messages? What?

  30. No. If you like the message this

  31. morning, I did it. If you don't like it, I'm going

  32. to have a cold dinner today. If anybody wants to know that.

  33. If you have your Bibles this morning, praise God.

  34. You have the Bible, you have the word of God.

  35. Turn over to Exodus chapter 3. A few weeks back, Pastor opened

    Exodus 3 chapter mention

  36. up to this verse description. I thought, oh, oh, he's going to

  37. preach something that I was going to preach.

  38. No, he went off in a different direction.

  39. We're just going to have this as our jumping off place this

  40. morning in the Word of God. Exodus chapter 3 verse one will

    Exodus 3 chapter mention

  41. be verses one through 6. Let's do this first, please.

  42. Let's, let's bow for prayer. I need God's hand.

  43. Father, you be glorified today. Lord, it's not about me.

  44. Take Me Out of the way. Remove me from the equation, but

  45. ask your Lord as an instrument in the hands of the mighty God.

  46. Use the words that you've given me, but use the words that are

  47. from your word to bring conviction and working hearts

  48. today. For I pray all this and ask this

  49. in the wonderful name of our Savior.

  50. Amen. Next is chapter 3 verse reading

    Isaiah 3 chapter mention

  51. and verse one if you would with me please.

  52. Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the

  53. priest dominion. He's talking about a flock of

  54. sheep here folks. OK, a flock of sheep and he led

  55. the flock to the backside of the desert and came to the mountain

  56. of God, even the Horeb. Now he came to the mountain.

  57. Understand that I used to think when I read this at first he

  58. went to the mountain. He went up to the mountain.

  59. Have you ever been ever seen Mount Horeb?

  60. It's it's just a big old bunch of rocks up there's there's

  61. nothing for the sheep. There actually be no way hardly

  62. for the sheep to get up there, more of a place that a mountain

  63. goat would abide. And the Angel of the Lord

  64. appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a Bush,

  65. and he looked to behold the Bush burned with fire, and the Bush

  66. was not consumed. Now you looked at this Bush.

  67. It probably wasn't an unknown thing or a weird thing to see a

  68. Bush burn. This Bush would be a cassia type

  69. plant, a Thistle much similar to what we have in the in the

  70. plains states. Tumbleweeds, something dry and

  71. probably sometime along the line, maybe from a spark from

  72. the campfire or something else that Bush would catch on fire

  73. and he would see it burning Within a matter of of seconds,

  74. if not within a minute, that Bush would be totally consumed

  75. and it'd just be blackened and then the ashes would fall to the

  76. ground. But he looked and he saw that

  77. the Bush was not consumed. It continued to burn.

  78. That got up his in his inquisitive nuts and he wonder

  79. what was going on there. And Moses said I will now turn

  80. aside and see this great site and why the Bush excuse me, this

  81. thing fell off my pocket. Why this Bush is not burnt.

  82. And when the one the Lord saw that he turned aside to see God

  83. called him out of the midst of the Bush.

  84. Now I can see him beginning up and walking towards that Bush

  85. and he's going, what's going on with this?

  86. This thing should have been consumed.

  87. And as it got a little bit closer, the Bush talks to him.

  88. Now it doesn't say here, but I imagine he was kind of like,

  89. whoa, what? Haven't you ever had a Bush talk

  90. to you, let alone one on fire? And it was God's voice called

  91. him out of the midst of the Bush and said, Moses, Moses.

  92. And he said, here I am, I'm right here, Lord, I'm right

  93. here, here I am. What, what?

  94. What do you need? What do you go on to say?

  95. He said. And he said, Draw not nigh, hit

  96. her, put off thy shoes from thy feet for the place where in thou

  97. standest get. This church today is holy

  98. ground. This is the first mention of

  99. holy in the Bible all the way here in the exec.

  100. Excuse me, Exodus chapter 3. We find here the word holy.

    Exodus 3 chapter mention

  101. And God's saying this because the ground was holy, not because

  102. Moses was anybody special. You realize Moses almost 40

  103. years now, he's been the backside of the desert.

  104. He's been, he's run away from Pharaoh.

  105. Why? Because he murdered an Egyptian.

  106. The Bible tells us over in Hebrews that that Moses made a

  107. determination in his life to follow after God by faith, to

  108. follow after God, rather than to to have the pleasures of sin for

  109. a season. I believe Moses living in the

  110. House of Pharaoh, probably knew what some of those pleasures

  111. were. So there might have been some of

  112. that in his life. So he was not, he was not the

  113. reason that the ground was holy. The ground radiated that day

  114. with the holiness of Almighty God.

  115. We serve a mighty God today. I want to say this, my

  116. philosophy in preaching is basically twofold.

  117. First of all, that God receives all the glory and praise.

  118. And secondly, that I leave with those the listeners here this

  119. morning, either a little seed that will bring somebody to

  120. salvation in the knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Lord and

  121. Savior, show them about their sin and their need in life.

  122. Or bring you as a Christian a nugget of something that you can

  123. take with you to carry on in your life in your Christian

  124. walk. So we find here holy.

  125. First, mention it was holy there because why?

  126. Because God was present in the model of prayer, the Lord's

  127. Prayer, many people call it the model of prayer.

  128. We find out the Lord said this to the disciples.

  129. When you pray, pray like this, Our Father in heaven, which our

  130. Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

  131. If you look that up in the dictionary, the first

  132. explanation for the word hallowed is holy.

  133. Holy be thy name. The name of God is to be holy.

  134. It's to be lifted up. It's to be honored and

  135. glorified. God is declared holy throughout

  136. all eternity. If you want to turn over there,

  137. I'm going to go through these scriptures today.

  138. Turn as you can. But in Isaiah chapter 6 verse 3,

    Isaiah 6:3

  139. Isaiah got to see a glimpse of heaven.

  140. He got to see some Seraphin, which are are heavenly creatures

  141. there. And he found out what does he

  142. say about them? And one cried to another and

  143. said holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.

  144. What is what is he holy, Holy, holy.

  145. Now, they weren't saying grace, Grace.

  146. Grace. Isn't grace wonderful?

  147. For by grace are you safe through faith?

  148. Not of that's not of our works. Did they could they say mercy,

  149. mercy, mercy? They didn't say mercy, mercy,

  150. mercy. I'm glad Brother Johnny, that

  151. that we have the mercy of God that we don't get what we

  152. deserve. But they didn't do that.

  153. They're crying out holy, holy, holy.

  154. Now let's go forward almost 800 years.

  155. The Book of Revelation chapter 4 verse 8.

    Revelation 4:8

  156. This is now John. Revelation chapter 4 verse 8, it

    Revelation 4:8

  157. says there John speaking saw the four beasts.

  158. I believe these are the same creatures, heavenly creatures

  159. and they were all. They are also saying holy, holy,

  160. holy Lord God Almighty, which was and is and is to come.

  161. And the Bible tells us there that they say this day and night

  162. 24/7 folks. Now, I know there's no time in

  163. heaven, but they're saying it all the time, giving God the

  164. glory. Holy, holy, holy.

  165. I believe our God is a holy God. Amen.

  166. If I could ask this, I don't know.

  167. I should have thought about it before.

  168. Oh, maybe there's some here. OK, I don't care if it's used or

  169. not. Oh, it was used if you take your

  170. Bibles. Now turn over to Isaiah chapter

    Isaiah 40 chapter mention

  171. 40. Isaiah chapter 40.

    Isaiah 40 chapter mention

  172. Isaiah chapter 40, verse 25, if you would please.

    Isaiah 40:25

  173. This is God speaking. To whom then will you liken me?

  174. You know what man does? He likens all these different

  175. things to God. He'll begin to worship images

  176. and idols and they can't speak, they can't hear, they can't

  177. think, they can't, they can't answer your prayers.

  178. You'll see all religions all across the world that have

  179. certain idols. They bow down through, they burn

  180. incense to them. They do all that.

  181. They can't do anything for them. They can't save them.

  182. They're not God. God says here, come on now, you

  183. have to answer this question, To whom will ye liken me, or shall

  184. I be equal? Is there anyone anything equal

  185. to God? He's asking the question.

  186. Let's go see what he says. He's asked.

  187. He's asking, saith the Holy 1. You see what that says there,

  188. folks? Look at that in your Bibles.

  189. I hope your Bible has this like mine.

  190. Holy One, Capital H Capital, O Holy One.

  191. What does that mean? That means that's his name.

  192. That means that is His name. He is the Holy 1.

  193. He is God, the Holy One. It tells us.

  194. You think? Well, is that the only place

  195. that occurs? Let me read you.

  196. I look this up in Job. Job says exactly like we're

  197. seeing it here. Capital H, Capital, O Holy One.

  198. It's found in Job, chapter 1. Excuse me?

    Job 1 chapter mention

  199. Found in Job one time. It's found in David's Psalms

  200. five times, Jeremiah twice, Hosea twice, Habakkuk 2 times,

  201. in the New Testament, five times in that Isaiah, the book we're

  202. in right now, 30 times. It's recorded.

  203. Holy One. Did y'all Add all those up?

  204. I didn't, But that's a lot of times.

  205. And I think when God says something just a couple times,

  206. we ought to pay attention, let alone all that many times.

  207. We need to get into our minds and our hearts and our lives

  208. that He is the Holy One. He is above all knows all is

  209. all. So many times we want to bring

  210. him down to to some, some idol, some image, some little thing

  211. that we do, whether you're, you know, whether you're counting

  212. beads or all that other kind of stuff, that that's he's the only

  213. holy one. Our God, our great creator is

  214. the holy one. For just a moment, I want to

  215. just focus this morning on the Holy Spirit.

  216. And I know that sometimes in a Baptist Church, we begin to talk

  217. about the Holy Spirit. You're going to think that we're

  218. going to start, you know, dancing up here or people going

  219. to roll around or speak in tongues or do some crazy stuff

  220. like that. So sometimes we're afraid to to

  221. broach that subject because we don't want people to think

  222. different of us. But folks, we need to tap into

  223. the power of the Holy Spirit of God.

  224. We need to tap in to the holiness of God.

  225. If God is the holy one, and interestingly, he calls His

  226. Spirit the Holy Spirit. So we need to talk about that

  227. for a few minutes this morning and I'm going to bring us into

  228. this conclusion in just a little bit, and I think we'll have some

  229. things here that might help you in your walk with God.

  230. First of all, Holy Spirit is real.

  231. He's not just an attribute of God.

  232. He's not just an emanation of God.

  233. He is God, Amen. He is real.

  234. He is part of the divine Godhead.

  235. We find that over in first John 57.

  236. For there are three that bear record in heaven.

  237. And what are those? The Father, the Word, and the

  238. Holy Ghost. And these three are, I wonder if

  239. we called, I wonder if we'd be all right and not do any harm to

  240. the Scripture if we would say these three are 1.

  241. I believe they are the Holy One. So He's a divine being.

  242. Do you realize that the Spirit of God was there in creation?

  243. The very second verse of our Bible says that it says this.

  244. It says that that the earth was without form and void.

  245. Darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God

  246. moved upon the face of the waters.

  247. He was there, Amen. I believe He was there.

  248. When the Bible says that God says let us make man in our

  249. plural image, body, soul and spirit.

  250. He were responsible for giving us the word of God.

  251. You love your Bible. I love my Bible.

  252. I'm glad I have I hold in my hand here folks.

  253. I hold in my hand the preserved word of God in the King James

  254. Version for English speaking people.

  255. Second Peter chapter one verse 21 if you're taking notes it

  256. says there for prophecy came not an old time by the will of men,

  257. but holy men see first of all, they had to be set apart not

  258. holy like God, but they were set apart for God of God spake as

  259. they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

  260. He moved them he laid upon their hearts and you see this in

  261. various places in the Bible. One of the message sometimes I

  262. preach is is out of Samuel and there we find that that that

  263. David says that he was given this this of the pattern for the

  264. temple. David wasn't an architect.

  265. I believe that God inspired him. I believe the Holy Spirit moved

  266. on him and he began to draw out exactly what God gave him.

  267. I know, I know Noah was given some idea how to build the ark,

  268. but I believe he, he was never an ark builder.

  269. He was an architect for Arks. I don't think they had them back

  270. then. And he started to do that

  271. because God laid it upon him. God gives us the scriptures

  272. according to what he wants us to have and what he wants us to

  273. know. And the Holy Ghost is the

  274. important element in that. He was at the baptism of Jesus

  275. in the river Jordan and it tells us there.

  276. Luke 322 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shaped

  277. like a what church like a dove upon him, and a voice came from

  278. heaven. And what did it say?

  279. It said, which said, Thou art my beloved son in thee.

  280. I am well pleased the Spirit of God was there that day, the Holy

  281. Spirit, He was directly responsible for our Savior's

  282. birth, Amen. That virgin birth.

  283. How many believe that Amen. I believe in the virgin birth.

  284. He's directly responsible for our Savior's virgin birth in

  285. Matthew 118. Now the birth of Jesus Christ

  286. was on this wiser. This is how it came to pass or

  287. how it happened says this when as his mother Mary was espoused

  288. to Joseph before they came together before they had

  289. relations. She was found with child of the

  290. Holy Ghost. You know we wouldn't have a

  291. savior born today came the likeness of sinful flesh.

  292. We wouldn't have an Incarnate Savior if it hadn't been for

  293. that right there the Holy Ghost. She had that child within her of

  294. the Holy Ghost and here's here's one of the important parts the

  295. Holy Spirit is needed in our new birth.

  296. Amen. We find Nicodemus came to Jesus

  297. by night. He was he was afraid to see him

  298. during the day because he was of the the Pharisees and high up in

  299. the class of Pharisees and he didn't want anybody to see him

  300. speaking to Jesus. So we found him by night and

  301. begin to talk to him because you know, we've all talked about

  302. you. We know that you're a master and

  303. we know that you know a lot of things about the Bible.

  304. Jesus could have discussed some things with him about that, but

  305. he got right to the point and he said he must be born again.

  306. Of course Nicodemus said, wait a minute, I'm a full size man.

  307. I can't enter back into my mother's womb to be born again.

  308. What are you talking about? He was looking at it literally,

  309. but Jesus meant it spiritually and it tells us there in John

    John 3 chapter mention

  310. chapter 3 and verse 5. Jesus answered verily, verily I

  311. say unto you, except a man be born of water.

  312. That's that's the fleshly birth women's water breaks and a

  313. baby's born and and of the capital S spirit.

  314. He cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.

  315. You know, unless you've been born again and the Holy Spirit

  316. of God has come and dwelt within you.

  317. You can't get into heaven only through Jesus Christ must be be

  318. saved. There's only one name given

  319. among men whereby we must be saved.

  320. So the Holy Ghost was important as far as in the new birth is

  321. concerned. You can't be born again without

  322. the Spirit of God. You're not going to get into

  323. heaven without the Spirit of God.

  324. Then if we've been, the next thing is, as we've been calling

  325. upon him this week, is he's a comforter of the church.

  326. The Holy Spirit is a Comforter of the Church in John 1426, but

  327. the Comforter. Which is the Holy Ghost, whom

  328. the Father will send in my name, shall teach you all things and

  329. bring all things to your remembrance, Whatsoever I have

  330. said unto you. It goes on to tell us there that

  331. we don't have, we don't have a peace like the world has, but

  332. the Comforter gives us that peace.

  333. Even when you go through a loss, even when there's tragedy in

  334. your lives, even when things happen that we don't care for,

  335. we don't like the comforters there to give us comfort, to be

  336. with us, to see us through those things.

  337. So he's a, he's a comforter to the church.

  338. He's a comforter individual people today.

  339. And I pray, I pray today that he's a comforter to the pastor

  340. and, and his, his, all their family, they're all hurting.

  341. That's something that you don't expect to happen.

  342. We have a son named Andrew. And so to us, that's just kind

  343. of like, oh, we can understand that.

  344. We can understand how we would feel in that situation.

  345. So the Holy Spirit, the comforts to the church next, he's a he

  346. aids believers in prayer in Jude chapter one, verse 20, it says,

  347. but ye beloved, building up yourselves in the most holy

  348. faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.

  349. We also find over in Romans chapter 8 that the Holy Spirit

    Romans 8 chapter mention

  350. makes intercession for us with what?

  351. With groanings that can't be uttered.

  352. Have you ever been there in your life?

  353. I imagine. But when something like that

  354. happens and somebody, all of a sudden, somebody instantly is,

  355. is gone from you or something happens tragically in your life

  356. or there's just a terrible accident when you fall to your

  357. knees and you're praying and you're asking God for things

  358. that you don't even know what to say.

  359. You're sobbing and praying and and weeping.

  360. But the Holy Spirit knows he makes that intercession.

  361. It talks with the Father say here's what they need, here's

  362. what they need. He aids us in our prayers.

  363. He's there for us. He makes intercessions for us.

  364. Even with groanings that we can utter, we find that He also

  365. witnesses through us. He witnesses through us.

  366. We all know, Acts chapter 1 and verse 8, that they would receive

    Acts 1 chapter mention

  367. power after what? After the Holy Ghost came upon

  368. them, they were to wait there for the Holy Ghost.

  369. It says up in the previous verse.

  370. And then you'll receive the power, and then that power will

  371. allow you to be witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and

  372. the uttermost parts of the world.

  373. I know a lot of people are going out and they knock on doors and

  374. they do it all in this. But here you just do this and do

  375. this and do this in the Spirit of God is not even there.

  376. And many times I'll get somebody, as pastor said,

  377. they'll get somebody to repeat a prayer.

  378. Well, say after me, do you realize the room could be half

  379. filled with communists today and I could pull out the American

  380. flag and say, let's all stand and pledge allegiance to the

  381. American flag. And so they don't want to show

  382. their colors and they'll get up and put their heart.

  383. They don't mean it. How many people have prayed the

  384. prayer of salvation? They've done that because

  385. someone LED it them through that and they walked away and it

  386. meant nothing. Their life was never changed

  387. because first of all, there's no conviction first.

  388. Secondly, there's no repentance and there was no faith.

  389. You might as well buy a vacuum cleaner from somebody.

  390. I mean, do you just as much good as doing that.

  391. So we need the Spirit of God when it comes time for

  392. witnessing that we allow the Spirit of God to take what seeds

  393. we live or leave and we he puts those seeds in that heart and

  394. let the word of God nurture those seeds and build those

  395. seeds and bring the conviction that they need.

  396. It's the Holy Spirit of God that does that.

  397. Next one. He indwells the believer.

  398. He indwells the believer. First Corinthians 69 says what?

  399. I always like that. What do you ever do that when

  400. you see your kids doing something, what are you doing?

  401. What did you do? Sometimes we have husbands Hear

  402. that. What?

  403. I'm probably going to hear that later.

  404. What he says, what he says this He says what?

  405. Know ye not? Don't you know this, that your

  406. body is the temple? That temple is like a

  407. Tabernacle. It's like a dwelling place.

  408. This body, the body, physical body you have right there today

  409. is a temple. Holy Ghost, do you realize

  410. you've got part of God living inside you?

  411. Bible tells me that I don't see it.

  412. I don't see it, but I see it. You know why I see it, Brother

  413. Paul? I see it because you're here.

  414. You said the Lord. You love the Lord.

  415. I see it in his eyes. I see it in his heart.

  416. Colossians chapter 1 tells verse 28, Christ in you, Christ in

    Colossians 1 chapter mention

  417. you, the hope of glory. Years ago for Evangelist Paul

  418. Lambert, I did a an illustration.

  419. It was probably about this high, a young man standing there with

  420. his Bible suit coat on and stuff.

  421. And here he is. And you'd look at him and say,

  422. OK, well that's the guy, some guy that goes to church.

  423. But it's very interesting. You would turn off the lights

  424. and I'd use a black light. And right there, instead of

  425. seeing him, you would see Christ standing there in him, Christ in

  426. you, hope of glory. You want hope of glory, you want

  427. hope of heaven. You want hope of being in heaven

  428. for all eternity. Christ in you, unless he's in

  429. you. One day the Bible tells us it

  430. meant men, men, women, all will stand before God, stand before

  431. the Lord Jesus. And they'll say, wait a minute,

  432. hold on, just give me a word. Can I say a word?

  433. I did all this for you. Hey, I was in church.

  434. I mean, I was good enough to cast out some demons and I fed

  435. the poor and I did this, and I did this and I did this.

  436. And Jesus will look at them and he'll say, I never knew you.

  437. Wow. Why?

  438. Because he never indwelt them. You see, it's a bond, folks.

  439. It's a bond of intimacy. When the Lord Jesus Christ comes

  440. into your life and you know beyond a shadow of doubt you're

  441. saved and on your way to heaven, you can't take that away.

  442. Oh, I felt like times I wasn't saved.

  443. That was my fault. That surely wasn't his.

  444. But you can never take it away. So that Holy Ghost dwells within

  445. us, which is in you, which you have of God.

  446. You are not your own. But we think we're our own,

  447. don't we? So God dwells within this

  448. temple. You know, our body is the temple

  449. of the Holy Spirit. I thought about this I've for

  450. many years now. I realized He dwells within me.

  451. I want to take care of this as long as I can, the best I can.

  452. So live as long as I can for His glory, that He might be able to

  453. use me as an instrument. If I don't take care of myself

  454. and I get something and I die early or whatever, then he, he

  455. can't use me anymore because I'm with Him.

  456. So as long as I can to be used of the Lord.

  457. Next He intercedes for them, directs them in duty first.

  458. John 220 But you have an unction from the Holy One.

  459. There's that word again, folks, in the New Testament.

  460. You have an unction from the Holy One, and you know all

  461. things. That unction means that

  462. earnestness, A fervor, and where's that come from?

  463. It comes from the Holy Ghost of God.

  464. It comes from Him in your life, the Holy One working in you.

  465. All these things give us glory and put and help us focus on the

  466. Spirit of God and what He does in our lives.

  467. On October 28th. I know it's going back a long

  468. time ago, but there's, you know, I don't know where the row of

  469. old guys went, but you know. October 28th, 1969 at Avenue A

  470. Bible Baptist Church in Hutchinson, KS Doctor Paul

  471. Lambert was preaching that day. He was a pastor of that church.

  472. And I can't tell you what the message was.

  473. I can't. As I get older, I can't remember

  474. anything anyway. But I know that day I was

  475. standing there at the time of invitation, and I was one of

  476. those people. I grabbed hold of Pew in front

  477. right here. They were pews without cushions.

  478. I don't even know if the place had air conditioning back in the

  479. day. Man, you know that, Brother

  480. George, you know horses and buggies.

  481. Sorry, brother. And I was holding on that Pew.

  482. It was invitation time. It was prayer time.

  483. The pastor was praying. And I knew that, you know, hey,

  484. I'll bow in prayer. So I bowed my head and I'm

  485. looking down, holding on that Pew.

  486. I'm not letting go of this Pew. I'm not stepping out of this.

  487. They don't know. No, I'm not doing this.

  488. I'm not doing my own flesh was fighting, but I bowed my head

  489. right there and I remember he was saying, you know, in his

  490. prayer have Jesus Christ and died for every one of us gave us

  491. life that we might have salvation.

  492. We might not go to a place called hell.

  493. Hell's real folks. I'm holding that Pew.

  494. My head's bowed. My eyes are closed.

  495. I'm not looking around and I don't know whether it was Paul

  496. Lambert or the Holy Spirit of God that said I heard it

  497. verbally. Isn't that right, Mr. Ritchie?

  498. If it was Brother Lambert, I'm glad he said that because that

  499. was the Spirit of God directing him to talk to me.

  500. And one minute I'm not let go of that Pew.

  501. I'm staying right here. The next minute, weeping, I

  502. stepped out, went forward, and at the altar I accepted Christ.

  503. Amen. Amen.

  504. My sins were gone, all the guilt was gone.

  505. I had my name written in the Lamb's book of life that day in

  506. the blood of Jesus, because his blood was shed.

  507. For me. Being saved changed my life.

  508. If you claim to be saved and your life's not changed, oh, I

  509. think about that. But being saved changed my life.

  510. Before I got saved, I used God's name in vain.

  511. I asked God to damn this or this person or this or or maybe

  512. something happened. I smashed my my thumb with a

  513. hammer and I said Jesus Christ. But I didn't say it in a

  514. religious fashion. I said it in a vain, empty

  515. fashion. I said it in a way of, of, of

  516. uselessness and cursing. But I got to the point I no

  517. longer used God's name to damn anything.

  518. I no longer use God's name to say something bad about somebody

  519. else. And I no longer use Jesus Christ

  520. as a, as a cuss word because I was surprised or alerted or

  521. something happened. I believe most of us here have

  522. been saved for any time. If probably gotten to the point

  523. that maybe, you know, you haven't got everything cleared

  524. up, but at least you, you realize that man God saved me.

  525. He's a holy God. I'm not going to use his name in

  526. vain. But hold on a minute.

  527. There's one person we're not thinking about this morning.

  528. That's God the Father. And we don't use Jesus.

  529. We got one more Holy Spirit. God says, first of all, He's the

  530. Holy One. And that would be all three of

  531. them together. I believe all three in one.

  532. Of course, these three are one. Well, I don't use God's name in

  533. vain. I don't use the God the Father's

  534. name. I don't I don't say Jesus Christ

  535. in vain. But what about the Holy Ghost?

  536. Holy Spirit of God, we find in our day and age that we take

  537. holy and we add any type of vile, dirty, reprobate thing

  538. behind that. Be very careful when you're

  539. listening to certain radio programs and radio shows and

  540. they'll come on there. Oh holy, that's my God.

  541. Is he not as much God as God the Father, God the Son?

  542. Then how dare we drag his name through the dirt?

  543. I'm just going to say these things.

  544. It's in an Oxford dictionary. I looked at the word holy.

  545. Now, first of all, it does. It refers to God.

  546. God is holy. What's that mean?

  547. He's without sin. He's perfect, He's wonderful.

  548. That's our holy God. But it goes on.

  549. There's a second definition. This definition is a informal

  550. use, informally used, an explanation, explanations of

  551. surprise, alarm or dismay. That's when somebody you know,

  552. they, they, what are you talking about?

  553. Oh, holy. And they call out something What

  554. what they used in the dictionary was they said holy macaroni.

  555. Well, folks, macaroni ain't holy.

  556. Why do we attach God's name to that?

  557. I mean, I'm, I imagine Moses up in heaven and he's listening.

  558. He knows what's going on. And all of a sudden someone down

  559. here says, Holy Moses, He's going, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,

  560. whoa. Hey, don't, please don't do

  561. that. Don't, don't, don't use my name.

  562. Don't get me in any trouble. I don't want you doing that.

  563. Because first of all, he wasn't only God is holy, but our world

  564. today has gone beyond that. And they put all these four

  565. letter words behind holy. And sometimes we as Christians

  566. hold on, We as Christians. Why?

  567. Because I've heard it. I've heard it.

  568. We'll put holy and then something else after it.

  569. A few weeks ago, not our pastor, but a few weeks ago I heard it

  570. right behind this pulpit. I can't tell you what was said

  571. afterward, but that term was used.

  572. I'm going do do you see with me, folks?

  573. Did the Bible not say that the, the Seraphim and these beasts

  574. are going to be going holy, holy, holy?

  575. Does the Bible not say probably 50 times that He is the holy

  576. one? Capital H, Capital O, And it's

  577. the Holy Spirit, Capital H, capital S that lives and dwells

  578. within us. So how dare we take his name

  579. holy and run it through the mud? And I think it's sad because

  580. we've given into given into the world around us because that's

  581. what they do. I remember as a child, how many

  582. of them watched the old Batman? Who was in the old Batman?

  583. What was his name? Adam West and Batman.

  584. And his buddy was Robin, not Robin Hood, but just Robin.

  585. And how many times would Robin use the terminologies?

  586. And we we pick up from that as little kids and then we carry it

  587. into adulthood. You know, he might say holy

  588. Batman or holy this or holy that.

  589. So it began to be used as a term that downplayed God.

  590. Just because the world makes it informal doesn't mean it is

  591. Amen. His word is very important and

  592. this is not to accuse anybody of anything but boy, if that's

  593. something you in your life maybe just never noticed before and

  594. never never put that together. God says in Exodus chapter 20

    Exodus 20:7

  595. verse 7, this one of the 10 commandments, Thou shalt not

  596. take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

  597. You shall not lose. You should not use it in a

  598. useless, empty, vain manner. It should not be an informal

  599. manner. Do you remember those that

  600. copied out the word of God as those scribes would copy out the

  601. word of God after they wrote God's name, they'd step away.

  602. They get a new pen, They get a new change of clothes.

  603. Why? Because it wasn't informal, it

  604. was holy above all things because it goes on to say in

  605. that verse, you get this folks, the Lord will not hold him

  606. guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

  607. You say, well, I I didn't realize that.

  608. OK, if you didn't realize what you were doing was causing that

  609. would then just get it taken care of.

  610. Ask God to forgive you for that and just realize that man, I

  611. can't. I'm not going to say that

  612. anymore. Make that commitment today.

  613. I'm not going to use His name in vain for His whole name.

  614. I hope today, based upon what we've seen in the Scriptures,

  615. the evidence we've seen in the Bible, God's holy word.

  616. Do you hold that in front of you today?

  617. I don't know about you, but my Bible says it's a holy Bible

  618. from a holy God that gives us the Holy Spirit.

  619. I guess if I leave anything with you today, please, I've seen so

  620. much of this hurt, so much of this.

  621. Matter of fact, it's been a number of years ago, I preached

  622. this message in down in North Carolina and the pastor's wife

  623. just came up to me after that says, man, wow, I've been doing

  624. that. I've been doing that.

  625. If you're standing with me today, please stand with me if

  626. we get to the invitation time. Miss Hannah's going to come and

  627. she's going to play #2 in your song books.

  628. Holy, holy, holy. Let's bow our, let's bow our

  629. heads, close our eyes for just a moment.

  630. Lord Jesus, we come before you right now.

  631. Lord, if there's a person here today that does not know that

  632. they're born again, a person here today that does not know

  633. that the Spirit of God dwelleth within them, does not not have

  634. that in their life, and they don't know where they're going

  635. to spend eternity, Oh, Lord, that they might come forward

  636. today. We'll take the Bible, the word

  637. of God, the Holy Bible, and show them where they can be saved.

  638. They can know for sure that their name is written in the

  639. Lamb's book of life. That would be glorious.

  640. That'd be great. But Lord, maybe is there some

  641. today that just would come to the altar?

  642. They would just say, you know, wow, maybe that's not an issue

  643. in your life and maybe somebody else you can help them with

  644. that. I mean, honestly, Lord, you know

  645. this, if we watch something, we see something on television,

  646. they, they say holy this or holy that, we turn it off because

  647. there's no different than using your other names in vain.

  648. And that that's just, it's disgraceful to my God.

  649. So Lord, please today, help us to make a commitment to always

  650. lift you up. Help us to see that no matter

  651. what takes place, you are the capital H, Holy capital O1, the

  652. Holy One. And Lord, may we give you the

  653. honor and praise for all this today, Said Your bow and eyes

  654. are closed as she begins to play.

  655. If you have a need today, the altar is open.
