  1. So we're going to be looking at Psalm 13 tonight.

  2. So our pattern has been over recent months to go through a psalm as we share the Lord's Supper together,

  3. and we are up to Psalm 13.

  4. So I'm going to pray for us. Anderson's going to come and read.

  5. Seth's going to come and preach for us, and then we will sing again.

  6. So let me pray, and then, Anderson, you can come and read God's Word for us.

  7. Father, we thank you that these are your words to us.

  8. Thank you that you're a good God who loves to speak.

  9. Please, we pray now, help us as your Word is read and preached to us to listen carefully

  10. for the sake of your glory and to do us good, we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

  11. Amen.

  12. Psalm 13.

  13. How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?

  14. How long will you hide your face from me?

  15. How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart?

  16. How long will my enemy triumph over me?

  17. Look on me and answer, Lord my God.

  18. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death.

  19. And my enemy will say, I have overcome him.

  20. And my foes will rejoice when I fall.

  21. But I trust in your unfailing love.

  22. My heart rejoices in your salvation.

  23. I will sing the Lord's praise, for he has been good to me.

  24. Thanks, Anderson.

  25. As was just said, we will be in Psalm 13.

  26. So I encourage you to get your Bible out, get your phone out.

  27. So we'll refer back to the text multiple times.

  28. I want to start us off today thinking about Christ, obviously, right?

  29. So when Christ died on the cross, he said three words, right?

  30. It is finished.

  31. And these three words ring throughout eternity as a rally cry for Christians.

  32. These three words signify what Christianity is all about, right?

  33. Christ came, he died on the cross, but he did not stay dead.

  34. He was raised three days later, defeating death, saying the words, it is finished.

  35. And these words show how the story will end.

  36. See, when the great armies of heaven and hell gather at the end of days, it won't even be a contest.

  37. The Lord opens his mouth, and the armies of hell are defeated.

  38. And so the words, it is finished, give the Christian confidence that whatever may happen,

  39. they can trust in God, right?

  40. Now, some of you might be a little confused right now, saying,

  41. did he just get his notes out of order?

  42. It feels a little bit more like the end of the sermon instead of the beginning.

  43. But anyway, best Sunday night ever.

  44. Let's wrap this up, take the sofa, and go home.

  45. But before you pack, I want us to ask the question,

  46. if this is true, if the words, it is finished, show and give the Christian confidence to trust God,

  47. why does it always feel like we have victory?

  48. Why can't I even read the Bible sometimes without feeling distracted and getting distracted?

  49. How come I can't get some joy or victory over some of the seasonal depression that is happening right now in February?

  50. Why does it sometimes feel like we picked the wrong side?

  51. If you felt too scared to ask those questions before,

  52. I want you to take heart.

  53. You're not alone.

  54. But see, we get the benefit of somebody asking those questions.

  55. Multiple years ago, his name was King David.

  56. In the Old Testament, he had the nickname, a man after God's own heart.

  57. And yet, this man after God's own heart felt abandoned.

  58. And he felt left by God at times.

  59. But see, for our benefit, he wrote about it.

  60. And that's what we just read in Psalm 13, right?

  61. So when we're dealing with situations where we feel like we might be on the losing side,

  62. or we feel like we're that guy right there, we're on the edge of the cliff,

  63. and just a simple push will make us go tumbling down,

  64. I want us to remember the lip of Psalm 13.

  65. Lament, intercession, lamentation, intercession, and praise.

  66. See, David is going to model that when you're under stress,

  67. there's three things that you can do.

  68. He's going to model that in this Psalm of lament,

  69. remember that there is an intercessor,

  70. and praise the Lord.

  71. So that first section, verses 1 and 2, are lamentation,

  72. because as we read earlier, this is a Psalm of lament.

  73. Just look at the first verses.

  74. How long is repeated four times?

  75. David is feeling that God is uncaring, distant, callous, and thoughtless.

  76. He's lamenting.

  77. And he's using some bold language to do it, if I may say so.

  78. If you first read, you might get a little antsy, right?

  79. Like, if David was sitting here in the room today,

  80. you might take the seat just one seat away,

  81. so that when the lightning strikes, you know, it doesn't hit you.

  82. But see, David here in this Psalm is appealing to God.

  83. And that's really what the definition of a Psalm of lament is.

  84. It's an appeal.

  85. Its central aim is to appeal something to God.

  86. And David, well, he has a few appeals.

  87. He has a laundry list of things that have happened in his life,

  88. and we, unfortunately, can't get to all of them.

  89. But needless to say, David's been keeping receipts.

  90. And in these first two verses, he's saying to God,

  91. how long am I going to be separated?

  92. How long am I going to feel these feelings of separation from you, God?

  93. And as the pressure builds in our own lives,

  94. there are moments where we can get to where David is at here.

  95. We can ask, where are you, God?

  96. It's getting harder and harder to believe those words

  97. that you uttered on the cross of,

  98. it is finished.

  99. Where is this victory, God?

  100. And see, Psalm 13 starts here,

  101. in the same spot that any program that deals with addiction will start, right?

  102. What's the first step in any program that deals with addiction?

  103. You have to admit that you have a problem.

  104. That's where the Psalm starts.

  105. But there's a key difference.

  106. You have to, for a lament Psalm,

  107. to follow what David is saying here,

  108. we have to, yes, admit to the Lord,

  109. but we have to realize that the solution doesn't come from ourselves.

  110. And see, the Bible doesn't mince words here when it talks about it.

  111. It's when we hit a problem,

  112. yes, admitting that we have a problem is a priority,

  113. and it is a good thing to do.

  114. But it is only the start.

  115. We must continue this process and realize

  116. that I can't fix this problem.

  117. And there's no amount of clawing, scraping, or trying

  118. that is going to get us out of this pit of despair that we may feel.

  119. We need a hand reaching down into that pit.

  120. We need an intercessor to pull us out.

  121. So read on with me as we go to the next session of intercessor, verses 3 and 4.

  122. They say,

  123. David starts the psalm by lamenting,

  124. what we talked about in verses 1 and 2.

  125. And I would argue here that he keeps on lamenting, right?

  126. Look at his words.

  127. Look on me and answer.

  128. Don't let my foes rejoice.

  129. But if you look at the verse, there is a slight shift in his language.

  130. He's moving on from just a general lament, a general despair,

  131. to saying that he needs something.

  132. What does he need?

  133. He needs an intercessor.

  134. He needs deliverance.

  135. Look back at me with verse 3.

  136. David says,

  137. Give light to my eyes.

  138. He needs light to shine in so that he can see his way forward.

  139. Right now, he cannot see any way forward out of the pit,

  140. and he needs somebody to give him direction.

  141. The most obvious example of this that we can apply to our own lives, right?

  142. Close our eyes.

  143. If we all close our eyes right now, what do we see?

  144. Nothing, right?

  145. It's dark.

  146. You can open your eyes.

  147. But when you open your eyes,

  148. why do you see?

  149. It's not some philosophical question.

  150. It's simply because there is light hitting your eyes, right,

  151. so that you can see the way forward.

  152. It's because our eyes have light that we can see.

  153. That's what David is saying.

  154. I need light to go on, God,

  155. but I can't provide it.

  156. I don't see a way out.

  157. It has to be given to me.

  158. So we need somebody,

  159. even in our own lives,

  160. when we get into moments in the pit,

  161. we need somebody to intercede for us

  162. and give us light in darkness.

  163. David needed the same thing.

  164. He needed somebody to reach down into that pit

  165. and pull him out.

  166. And that's what Christ does for us, right?

  167. That's what we talked about at the very beginning of this sermon.

  168. Christ reaches down into the pit

  169. and pulls us out.

  170. But what about the times

  171. when you're like David

  172. and you're stuck in the pit

  173. and there is no hand reaching down?

  174. You would say,

  175. I'm a Christian.

  176. I've been praying to God.

  177. God, where is that hand?

  178. What do you do then?

  179. Why does it feel like I'm being punished, Lord?

  180. Why is my problem not better?

  181. Can I say something

  182. that might not be comforting

  183. to anybody in the room?

  184. I don't know.

  185. Genuinely, I don't know

  186. and we don't know

  187. why Jesus chooses to heal some

  188. and not others

  189. in his earthly ministry.

  190. We don't know why

  191. Paul, the Apostle Paul,

  192. was able to go to Rome

  193. but the Spirit wouldn't let him go to Asia.

  194. And we don't know why

  195. even in today

  196. why God will heal some

  197. of cancer

  198. and let others die.

  199. See Isaiah 55, 8

  200. it says,

  201. For my thoughts are not your thoughts.

  202. This is God talking.

  203. Neither are your ways my ways

  204. declares the Lord.

  205. So I don't know

  206. why God works in some ways

  207. and not others.

  208. However, what I do know

  209. is the process.

  210. And because I know this process

  211. I can trust the result.

  212. You might be saying,

  213. Seth, what do you mean?

  214. I can illustrate it like this.

  215. Have you ever heard of somebody

  216. tell you

  217. not to understand

  218. what's in a hot dog?

  219. You don't want to know

  220. the process

  221. of what it makes

  222. and what it takes

  223. to make a hot dog.

  224. Just eat it

  225. and trust the result.

  226. Right?

  227. That's not

  228. what God says.

  229. See God says,

  230. don't look at the man

  231. behind the curtain.

  232. That's not who he is.

  233. See he shows us

  234. the process

  235. and because of his

  236. loving nature

  237. we can trust the result.

  238. So let's think about

  239. this process.

  240. Why can I trust God

  241. when I am in the pit

  242. and it feels like

  243. there is no hand

  244. reaching down towards me.

  245. It goes back

  246. to what we talked about earlier.

  247. What happened on the cross

  248. 2,000 years ago.

  249. And see Jesus

  250. when he died on the cross

  251. he was resurrected

  252. and defeated death.

  253. We call that redemption.

  254. Because of his sacrifice

  255. if you are a Christian

  256. in the room

  257. you have been redeemed.

  258. Romans 5.1

  259. would say that.

  260. Therefore since we

  261. have been justified

  262. by faith

  263. we have peace with God

  264. through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  265. Notice the past tense there.

  266. Have been justified.

  267. See this is what happened

  268. when we became Christians.

  269. It's already been accomplished.

  270. Now if we look forward

  271. Colossians 3

  272. gives us a picture

  273. of what's going to happen

  274. when we move forward.

  275. Colossians 3 says

  276. when Christ

  277. who is your life

  278. appears

  279. then you will

  280. then you also will

  281. appear with him in glory.

  282. Future tense.

  283. Right?

  284. You will appear.

  285. But what happens now

  286. for the Christian?

  287. What is happening now?

  288. Hebrews 7.25

  289. says

  290. consequently

  291. he is able to save

  292. to the uttermost

  293. those who draw near to God

  294. through him

  295. since he always lives.

  296. He being their Christ.

  297. Christ always lives

  298. to make intercession for them.

  299. Always lives there

  300. is in the present tense.

  301. Christ always

  302. is interceding

  303. for us.

  304. Tyler

  305. Statton

  306. he's a

  307. pastor out in Oregon

  308. he says

  309. intercession

  310. is the present

  311. action

  312. of Jesus

  313. that pulls

  314. at this story

  315. from both ends.

  316. The salvation work

  317. accomplished

  318. in the past

  319. and the glory

  320. that awaits us

  321. in the future.

  322. Intercession

  323. stated as simply

  324. as possible

  325. brings forth

  326. the image

  327. of Jesus

  328. praying for us

  329. individually

  330. by name.

  331. and as he does

  332. he wedges us

  333. tightly

  334. between forgiveness

  335. and glory

  336. enabling a deep

  337. inner rest

  338. sheltered by security

  339. hope

  340. and delight.

  341. See God

  342. shows us

  343. the process

  344. of what is happening.

  345. He gives us

  346. a peek under the bonnet

  347. if you will.

  348. Redemption

  349. happens when we

  350. became a Christian.

  351. Glorification

  352. is what will happen

  353. when Christ

  354. comes back

  355. but intercession

  356. is what is happening

  357. now

  358. for the believer.

  359. And because of this

  360. knowledge

  361. of the process

  362. of what Jesus

  363. is doing

  364. as he's

  365. wedging us

  366. between

  367. glorification

  368. and redemption

  369. !

  370. And because of

  371. the knowledge

  372. of the nature

  373. of God

  374. that we have

  375. we can trust

  376. his word

  377. and his intercessory

  378. work

  379. no matter

  380. whatever pit

  381. we are in.

  382. So because

  383. he's opened up

  384. the bonnet

  385. and given

  386. us

  387. the process

  388. we may be

  389. going through

  390. some tough

  391. times and say

  392. Lord I really

  393. feel like I

  394. could use

  395. a hand here

  396. to pull me

  397. out of this

  398. pit

  399. but even

  400. if you

  401. don't

  402. I can respond

  403. like David

  404. does in the

  405. next section

  406. in praise.

  407. so if we

  408. look at that

  409. last section

  410. verses 5 and 6

  411. and talk about

  412. praise

  413. let's read 5 and 6

  414. again

  415. but I trust

  416. in your unfailing

  417. love

  418. my heart

  419. rejoices

  420. in your

  421. salvation

  422. I will sing

  423. the Lord's

  424. praise

  425. for he

  426. has been

  427. good to me

  428. if your

  429. neck is sore

  430. from the

  431. whiplash there

  432. of that verse

  433. you're not

  434. alone

  435. David

  436. was saying

  437. how long

  438. how long

  439. will you

  440. forget me

  441. forever

  442. God

  443. just a few

  444. verses

  445. earlier

  446. how does

  447. he go

  448. from that

  449. to singing

  450. the Lord's

  451. praises

  452. see

  453. David

  454. had

  455. a knowledge

  456. of God

  457. and he

  458. understood

  459. God's

  460. work

  461. but it

  462. wasn't

  463. just a

  464. head

  465. knowledge

  466. it

  467. moved

  468. to his

  469. heart

  470. see

  471. earlier

  472. I said

  473. Christians

  474. we have

  475. a knowledge

  476. that Christ

  477. conquered

  478. death

  479. and we

  480. said

  481. we

  482. believe

  483. this

  484. right

  485. but how

  486. do we

  487. move

  488. that

  489. knowledge

  490. from our

  491. heads

  492. to

  493. it's

  494. actually

  495. coming

  496. out

  497. of us

  498. when we're

  499. in the

  500. pit

  501. and we

  502. don't feel

  503. like there's

  504. a hand

  505. reaching down

  506. to save

  507. us

  508. see in modern

  509. English

  510. there's a

  511. difference

  512. between know

  513. and believe

  514. right

  515. what does

  516. know mean

  517. means you can

  518. recall something

  519. it's what we

  520. test for

  521. most

  522. teachers do

  523. right

  524. but what does

  525. believe mean

  526. believe means

  527. we can hold

  528. on to something

  529. you would hold

  530. to it

  531. but in Hebrew

  532. that's not

  533. the case

  534. the Hebrew

  535. word here

  536. is yada

  537. which means

  538. a relational

  539. knowing

  540. the example

  541. is how do I

  542. know my

  543. life loves

  544. me

  545. well I

  546. would say

  547. when I'm

  548. sick she

  549. takes care

  550. of me

  551. when

  552. I'm hungry

  553. she doesn't

  554. let me

  555. starve

  556. she does

  557. feed me

  558. I would

  559. say

  560. she

  561. puts away

  562. my shoes

  563. that I

  564. can't ever

  565. find the

  566. shoe rack

  567. for

  568. even though

  569. I leave

  570. them just

  571. wherever

  572. around

  573. she loves

  574. me that

  575. way

  576. and puts

  577. them

  578. away

  579. I

  580. would say

  581. she works

  582. a job

  583. right now

  584. that keeps

  585. us in

  586. this country

  587. see when

  588. you would

  589. ask how

  590. do you

  591. know your

  592. wife loves

  593. you

  594. I would

  595. show and

  596. I would

  597. tell you

  598. by the way

  599. she shows

  600. me

  601. I know

  602. she loves

  603. me because

  604. I have

  605. experienced

  606. her love

  607. and that's a

  608. true meaning

  609. of the Hebrew

  610. word here

  611. right

  612. in Genesis

  613. you go all

  614. the way

  615. back to

  616. the first

  617. book of

  618. the Bible

  619. when Adam

  620. and Eve

  621. are having

  622. children

  623. what does

  624. the Bible

  625. use

  626. as the

  627. word

  628. he says

  629. no

  630. right

  631. the Bible

  632. says no

  633. why does

  634. it use

  635. this term

  636. because

  637. knowledge

  638. in the

  639. Hebrew

  640. is relational

  641. it's

  642. intimate

  643. and spiritual

  644. knowledge for

  645. us needs

  646. to be the

  647. same

  648. it needs

  649. to be

  650. inhabited

  651. experienced

  652. and lived

  653. that's what

  654. the psalmist

  655. is saying

  656. in verses

  657. five and

  658. six

  659. David didn't

  660. just know

  661. of God

  662. he experienced

  663. him

  664. he was

  665. experiencing

  666. being held

  667. between grace

  668. and glorification

  669. look back

  670. at it

  671. verse five

  672. but I trust

  673. in your

  674. unfailing

  675. love

  676. my heart

  677. rejoices

  678. in your

  679. salvation

  680. I will sing

  681. the Lord's

  682. praise

  683. how David

  684. how can

  685. you sing

  686. the Lord's

  687. praises

  688. you are

  689. in the

  690. pit

  691. three verses

  692. earlier

  693. you said

  694. give me

  695. light

  696. or I

  697. will

  698. die

  699. because of

  700. the end

  701. of verse

  702. six

  703. for he

  704. has

  705. been

  706. good

  707. to me

  708. I know

  709. you didn't

  710. sign up

  711. for a grammar

  712. lesson here

  713. when you

  714. came

  715. but again

  716. look at

  717. the tense

  718. of that

  719. word

  720. has

  721. been

  722. David

  723. didn't

  724. just

  725. write

  726. this

  727. song

  728. he

  729. didn't

  730. just

  731. believe

  732. this

  733. song

  734. he

  735. knew

  736. it

  737. why

  738. because he

  739. had

  740. experienced

  741. it

  742. before

  743. the knowledge

  744. of God

  745. had moved

  746. from his

  747. head

  748. to his

  749. heart

  750. and that's

  751. what the

  752. passage

  753. calls us

  754. to do

  755. today

  756. don't

  757. just

  758. think

  759. of God

  760. as some

  761. person

  762. in the

  763. sky

  764. that you

  765. send your

  766. prayer request

  767. up to

  768. and hope

  769. you don't

  770. get denied

  771. almost like

  772. a mean

  773. boss

  774. right

  775. instead

  776. experience

  777. him

  778. and that

  779. leads us

  780. to the

  781. question

  782. the obvious

  783. question

  784. is how

  785. a great

  786. example

  787. of this

  788. is civil

  789. rights leader

  790. Martin Luther

  791. King

  792. Jr.

  793. see in

  794. March

  795. of 1965

  796. Martin

  797. Luther

  798. King

  799. Jr.

  800. stood

  801. on the

  802. Alabama

  803. courthouse

  804. where two

  805. years earlier

  806. the governor

  807. of Alabama

  808. George

  809. Wallace

  810. had uttered

  811. these

  812. words

  813. segregation

  814. now

  815. segregation

  816. tomorrow

  817. and segregation

  818. forever

  819. Luther was

  820. not on

  821. these steps

  822. by accident

  823. just two

  824. weeks

  825. prior

  826. in

  827. Selma

  828. Alabama

  829. some

  830. protesters

  831. had

  832. gathered

  833. together

  834. to protest

  835. segregation

  836. and the

  837. lack of

  838. voting rights

  839. for African

  840. Americans

  841. and as

  842. these

  843. protesters

  844. peacefully

  845. gathered

  846. to march

  847. the 50

  848. miles

  849. from Selma

  850. to the

  851. capital of

  852. Montgomery

  853. they

  854. didn't even

  855. make it

  856. out of

  857. town

  858. before they

  859. were

  860. stopped

  861. tear

  862. gassed

  863. beaten

  864. all by

  865. law

  866. enforcement

  867. over 50

  868. people were

  869. hospitalized

  870. on what has

  871. become known

  872. as Bloody

  873. Sunday

  874. by the

  875. people

  876. that were

  877. supposed to

  878. keep them

  879. safe

  880. so two

  881. weeks later

  882. when Martin

  883. Luther King

  884. Jr.

  885. is on

  886. the steps

  887. at the

  888. Montgomery

  889. courthouse

  890. the moment

  891. felt heavy

  892. the path

  893. ahead

  894. looked dim

  895. and the

  896. hope for

  897. change

  898. seemed

  899. small

  900. where

  901. did King

  902. go

  903. where

  904. could he

  905. go

  906. he went

  907. to Psalm

  908. 13

  909. listen to

  910. these words

  911. as they

  912. come from

  913. Dr.

  914. Martin

  915. Luther

  916. King

  917. Jr.

  918. I

  919. come to

  920. you this

  921. afternoon

  922. however

  923. difficult

  924. the

  925. moment

  926. however

  927. frustrating

  928. the

  929. hour

  930. it

  931. will

  932. not

  933. be

  934. long

  935. because

  936. truth

  937. crushed

  938. to

  939. earth

  940. will

  941. rise

  942. again

  943. listen to

  944. this

  945. familiar

  946. refrain

  947. how

  948. long

  949. not

  950. long

  951. because

  952. no

  953. lie

  954. can

  955. live

  956. forever

  957. how

  958. long

  959. not

  960. long

  961. because

  962. you

  963. shall

  964. reap

  965. what

  966. you

  967. sow

  968. how

  969. long

  970. not

  971. long

  972. truth

  973. forever

  974. on

  975. the

  976. scaffold

  977. wrong

  978. forever

  979. on

  980. the

  981. throne

  982. yet

  983. that

  984. scaffold

  985. sways

  986. the

  987. future

  988. and

  989. behind

  990. the

  991. dim

  992. unknown

  993. standeth

  994. God

  995. within

  996. the

  997. shadow

  998. keeping

  999. watch

  1000. above

  1001. his

  1002. own

  1003. how

  1004. long

  1005. not

  1006. long

  1007. because

  1008. the

  1009. arc

  1010. of

  1011. the

  1012. moral

  1013. universe

  1014. is

  1015. long

  1016. but

  1017. it

  1018. bends

  1019. towards

  1020. justice

  1021. how

  1022. can

  1023. Martin

  1024. Luther

  1025. King

  1026. Jr.

  1027. stand

  1028. before

  1029. people

  1030. the

  1031. very

  1032. people

  1033. that

  1034. witnessed

  1035. over

  1036. 50

  1037. people

  1038. beaten

  1039. and

  1040. hospitalized

  1041. and say

  1042. not

  1043. long

  1044. repeat

  1045. the

  1046. familiar

  1047. refrain

  1048. of

  1049. David

  1050. here

  1051. in

  1052. Psalm

  1053. 13

  1054. because

  1055. he

  1056. knew

  1057. God

  1058. he

  1059. knew

  1060. that

  1061. the

  1062. laments

  1063. of this

  1064. life

  1065. would

  1066. not

  1067. last

  1068. he

  1069. knew

  1070. that

  1071. God

  1072. was

  1073. interceding

  1074. on

  1075. his

  1076. behalf

  1077. he

  1078. knew

  1079. that

  1080. praise

  1081. would

  1082. be

  1083. drawn

  1084. from

  1085. his

  1086. lips

  1087. because

  1088. God

  1089. had

  1090. been

  1091. faithful

  1092. in

  1093. the

  1094. past

  1095. and

  1096. God

  1097. is

  1098. the

  1099. ultimate

  1100. provider

  1101. of

  1102. justice

  1103. and

  1104. you

  1105. may

  1106. be

  1107. saying

  1108. Seth

  1109. that's

  1110. great

  1111. I'm

  1112. not

  1113. Martin

  1114. Luther

  1115. King

  1116. Jr.

  1117. and

  1118. I'm

  1119. not

  1120. David

  1121. I

  1122. don't

  1123. think

  1124. I

  1125. can

  1126. make

  1127. it

  1128. out

  1129. of

  1130. the

  1131. pit

  1132. in

  1133. my

  1134. life

  1135. I

  1136. don't

  1137. think

  1138. I

  1139. can

  1140. stand

  1141. this

  1142. silence

  1143. from

  1144. God

  1145. anymore

  1146. I

  1147. don't

  1148. know

  1149. how

  1150. to

  1151. take

  1152. this

  1153. head

  1154. knowledge

  1155. that I

  1156. have

  1157. of

  1158. God

  1159. and to

  1160. make

  1161. it

  1162. into

  1163. heart

  1164. knowledge

  1165. and

  1166. again

  1167. as I

  1168. said

  1169. earlier

  1170. the deal

  1171. is

  1172. I

  1173. don't

  1174. know

  1175. exactly

  1176. how

  1177. to

  1178. do

  1179. it

  1180. for

  1181. you

  1182. either

  1183. there's

  1184. no

  1185. specific

  1186. amount

  1187. of

  1188. formulas

  1189. that

  1190. you

  1191. can

  1192. get

  1193. to

  1194. no

  1195. specific

  1196. amount

  1197. of

  1198. prayers

  1199. fasting

  1200. church

  1201. attendance

  1202. that

  1203. is going

  1204. to get

  1205. you

  1206. heard

  1207. by

  1208. God

  1209. in

  1210. terms

  1211. of

  1212. have

  1213. your

  1214. prayers

  1215. of

  1216. lament

  1217. be

  1218. heard

  1219. and

  1220. you

  1221. getting

  1222. taken

  1223. out

  1224. of

  1225. that

  1226. pit

  1227. but

  1228. I

  1229. can

  1230. say

  1231. when

  1232. I've

  1233. done

  1234. what

  1235. David

  1236. does

  1237. in

  1238. this

  1239. psalm

  1240. which

  1241. is

  1242. lament

  1243. remember

  1244. my

  1245. intercessor

  1246. and

  1247. praise

  1248. him

  1249. even

  1250. when

  1251. I

  1252. don't

  1253. feel

  1254. it

  1255. I

  1256. can

  1257. feel

  1258. the

  1259. knowledge

  1260. of

  1261. God

  1262. grow

  1263. inside

  1264. of

  1265. me

  1266. not

  1267. just

  1268. in

  1269. my

  1270. head

  1271. but

  1272. in

  1273. my

  1274. heart

  1275. so

  1276. if

  1277. you're

  1278. an

  1279. unbeliever

  1280. in

  1281. this

  1282. room

  1283. and

  1284. you

  1285. say

  1286. I

  1287. would

  1288. like

  1289. to

  1290. have

  1291. that

  1292. relationship

  1293. I

  1294. would

  1295. like

  1296. somebody

  1297. that

  1298. would

  1299. cover

  1300. me

  1301. have

  1302. a

  1303. strong

  1304. foundation

  1305. I

  1306. don't

  1307. have

  1308. that

  1309. somebody

  1310. that

  1311. wedges

  1312. me

  1313. in

  1314. safety

  1315. there

  1316. is

  1317. a

  1318. free

  1319. offer

  1320. of

  1321. grace

  1322. on

  1323. the

  1324. table

  1325. today

  1326. I

  1327. beg

  1328. of

  1329. you

  1330. please

  1331. take

  1332. it

  1333. come

  1334. talk

  1335. to

  1336. me

  1337. talk

  1338. to

  1339. Steve

  1340. Jen

  1341. is

  1342. in

  1343. the

  1344. back

  1345. as

  1346. well

  1347. we

  1348. love

  1349. to

  1350. talk

  1351. to

  1352. you

  1353. about

  1354. this

  1355. the

  1356. good

  1357. news

  1358. from

  1359. this

  1360. passage

  1361. it

  1362. doesn't

  1363. take

  1364. anyone

  1365. special

  1366. if

  1367. we

  1368. use

  1369. our

  1370. lips

  1371. to

  1372. lament

  1373. remember

  1374. our

  1375. intercessor

  1376. and

  1377. praise

  1378. God

  1379. then

  1380. we

  1381. can

  1382. say

  1383. like

  1384. Martin

  1385. Luther

  1386. King

  1387. Jr.

  1388. that

  1389. the

  1390. world

  1391. is

  1392. full

  1393. of

  1394. sadness

  1395. Yes

  1396. but

  1397. the

  1398. arc

  1399. of

  1400. the

  1401. moral

  1402. universe

  1403. bends

  1404. towards

  1405. justice

  1406. why

  1407. because

  1408. our

  1409. God

  1410. is in

  1411. the

  1412. shadows

  1413. let's

  1414. pray

  1415. father in

  1416. heaven

  1417. thank you

  1418. for

  1419. today

  1420. thank you

  1421. for

  1422. the

  1423. opportunity

  1424. to

  1425. come

  1426. and

  1427. just

  1428. open

  1429. your

  1430. word

  1431. father

  1432. you

  1433. are

  1434. indeed

  1435. our

  1436. ultimate

  1437. intercessor

  1438. God

  1439. your

  1440. son

  1441. died

  1442. on the

  1443. cross

  1444. and

  1445. uttered

  1446. those

  1447. three

  1448. words

  1449. it
