  1. Morning. Today's reading can be found on page 70. It's Exodus 13 starting at verse 17. It's at the bottom of the page of the church bibles.

  2. When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not leave them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter.

  3. For God said, if they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.

  4. So God led the people around by the desert road towards the Red Sea.

  5. The Israelites went up out of Egypt ready for battle.

  6. Moses took the bones of Joseph with him because Joseph had made the Israelites swear an oath.

  7. He had said, God will surely come to our aid and then you must carry my bones up with you from this place.

  8. After leaving Sokkoth, they camped at Epham on the edge of the desert.

  9. By day, the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light so that they could travel by day or night.

  10. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.

  11. Then the Lord said to Moses, tell the Israelites to turn back and camp near Pi-Haroth between Migzol and the sea.

  12. They are to camp by the sea directly opposite Balzaphon.

  13. Pharaoh will think, the Israelites are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.

  14. And I will harden Pharaoh's heart and he will pursue them.

  15. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.

  16. So the Israelites did this.

  17. When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said,

  18. What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services.

  19. So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him.

  20. He took 600 of the best chariots along with all the other chariots of Egypt with officers over all of them.

  21. The Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites who are marching out boldly.

  22. The Egyptians, all Pharaoh's horses and chariots, horsemen and troops, pursued the Israelites and overtook them as they camped by the sea near Pi-Haroth opposite Balzaphon.

  23. As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up and there were the Egyptians marching after them.

  24. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord.

  25. They said to Moses,

  26. Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die?

  27. What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?

  28. Didn't we say to you in Egypt, leave us alone, let us serve the Egyptians?

  29. It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert.

  30. Moses answered the people,

  31. Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.

  32. The Egyptians you see today, you will never see again.

  33. The Lord will fight for you. You need only to be still.

  34. Then the Lord said to Moses,

  35. Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.

  36. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so the Israelites can go to the sea on dry ground.

  37. I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them.

  38. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen.

  39. The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.

  40. Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel's army, withdrew and went behind them.

  41. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel.

  42. Throughout the night, the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other.

  43. So neither went near the other all night long.

  44. Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea.

  45. And all that night, the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land.

  46. The waters were divided and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.

  47. The Egyptians pursued them and all various horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea.

  48. During the last watch of the night, the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion.

  49. He jammed the wheels of their chariots, so they had difficulty driving.

  50. And the Egyptians said, Let's get away from the Israelites.

  51. The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.

  52. Then the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea,

  53. so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.

  54. Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak, the sea went back to its place.

  55. The Egyptians were fleeing towards it, and the Lord swept them into the sea.

  56. The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen.

  57. The entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea, not one of them, survived.

  58. But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on the left.

  59. That day the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore.

  60. And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians,

  61. the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.

  62. This is the word of the Lord.

  63. Thank you so much for that reading.

  64. We are going to come to God as we look through this passage, this famous passage of God's salvation.

  65. Let's come to God now in prayer.

  66. The Bible says, James says,

  67. You have not because you ask not.

  68. We don't want that to be true of us this morning.

  69. God could do incredible things and does do incredible things through his word.

  70. And we don't want to have not because we ask not.

  71. So let's ask together now.

  72. Let's ask that God would do incredible things through his word.

  73. Let's pray.

  74. Heavenly Father, we ask that you would open our eyes, that we might see wondrous things from your word.

  75. We ask, Lord, that you would give us of your spirit so that we might see you and rejoice in you and delight in you.

  76. We ask that you would do something beyond what our expectations are, beyond what we could imagine.

  77. Lord, that you would speak to us, that your word would meet us where we are and that it would change us.

  78. We ask, Lord, that your word this morning would help us on our way to heaven.

  79. We ask that your word would turn someone, some people here today who isn't living for you,

  80. who isn't trusting in your son, Jesus Christ, that your word today would be the means of their salvation.

  81. We ask, Lord, that you would glorify yourself.

  82. And we ask this in Jesus' name.

  83. Amen.

  84. Amen.

  85. Our world, you don't need me to say this to you.

  86. Our world loves a hero story, right?

  87. We love hero stories.

  88. We love stories of someone who comes to save and to rescue.

  89. It's one reason why politics is always really interesting, why people are always engaged in politicians.

  90. It's because we're always looking for the next politician who's going to come and save and rescue and get us out of our mess.

  91. It's why we like films that are about people who come and save and rescue in one way or the other.

  92. Whether you're talking about like superheroes or war films or whatever kind of films.

  93. We love stories about saving, people who come and save.

  94. And I think it's because we all know that our world needs saving.

  95. Our world is in a mess and we need saving.

  96. And yet the tragedy is that though we know the problem, that we need saving,

  97. we end up looking for salvation in all the wrong places where the one place we need salvation,

  98. the one person we need to look to is Yahweh.

  99. Yahweh, the God of Israel.

  100. He is the one we need to come to for salvation.

  101. And we see that in this passage that was read.

  102. This passage is the splitting of the Red Sea.

  103. If you've been at church for any amount of time, you know this story.

  104. You know this.

  105. You probably remember looking at it in Sunday school for those of you who grew up in church.

  106. And yet it's really important to remember as we start to look at this,

  107. what the purpose of this is.

  108. What's the purpose of the Red Sea?

  109. Why are we told this?

  110. We are told this because this passage, as the whole book of Exodus,

  111. and in fact the whole Bible, it exists to show us who God is.

  112. It exists to reveal who Yahweh is.

  113. Look at me first here at verse 4 of chapter 14.

  114. And then we'll look at verse 18 of chapter 14.

  115. So verse 4.

  116. This is God speaking.

  117. It says,

  118. By the way, whenever we see Lord in capital letters,

  119. capital L, capital O, capital R, capital D,

  120. that's a substitution for God's personal name, Yahweh.

  121. So why is this happening?

  122. So that the Egyptians would know who God is.

  123. Look at me at verse 18, similar thing, or chapter 14.

  124. The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.

  125. And so God does this so that we would know what he is like.

  126. And that's a beautiful thing because you and I were all made to know God.

  127. We were made to know God.

  128. And the thing that God wants to reveal to us here in this passage is that he is the God who saves.

  129. And so what we're going to do is we're going to see three different ways that God reveals himself,

  130. that Yahweh reveals himself as saviour.

  131. And my hope is that as we look at that in this passage,

  132. that God would open your eyes, that you would see what God is like,

  133. and that you would rejoice in him.

  134. And so the first way that Yahweh reveals himself as saviour is that he shows that he saves,

  135. and the way in which he saves is that he saves by himself.

  136. God saves, Yahweh saves, and he saves by himself.

  137. In other words, he saves alone.

  138. Look with me at verse 13 of chapter 14.

  139. It says this,

  140. Moses answered the people,

  141. Do not be afraid.

  142. Stand firm, and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.

  143. The Egyptians you see today, you will never see again.

  144. The Lord will fight for you.

  145. You need only to be still.

  146. All right, here's some questions for us.

  147. Who split the Red Sea?

  148. Not a trick question.

  149. Who split the Red Sea?

  150. God, God split the Red Sea.

  151. Did Israel help in the splitting of the Red Sea?

  152. No, no, no, no.

  153. Not at all, right?

  154. Yahweh, he split the Red Sea.

  155. He split the Red Sea.

  156. Israel, what's Israel's job?

  157. According to verse 14,

  158. Israel's job, what they need to do,

  159. they need to do something, right?

  160. Verse 14,

  161. but it says you need only to be what?

  162. Still.

  163. God splits the Red Sea.

  164. Israel's job is just be still.

  165. Right?

  166. Just be still.

  167. Watch Yahweh do this,

  168. because Yahweh's going to save,

  169. and he's going to do it by himself.

  170. In other words,

  171. when God saves,

  172. this great act of salvation,

  173. remember, this is the act of salvation

  174. that Yahweh would always be known.

  175. For the rest of the Bible,

  176. God is going to be known as the God

  177. who rescued Israel from Egypt

  178. by splitting the Red Sea.

  179. This is God's revelation of himself as Savior,

  180. and he saves by himself.

  181. In other words,

  182. Yahweh doesn't hold back one part of the sea

  183. and ask the Israelites to hold back

  184. the other part of the sea.

  185. Okay, here's another question for you.

  186. How many Egyptians did the Israelites kill here?

  187. How many Egyptians?

  188. None.

  189. None.

  190. Yet, by the end of this passage,

  191. the Bible says,

  192. the entire army of the Egyptians are dead.

  193. It's a complete, utter defeat.

  194. And yet, Israel's role in this is nothing.

  195. It's to be still.

  196. Yahweh is Savior,

  197. but here's the key thing I want you to see.

  198. He is soul Savior.

  199. He is Savior by himself.

  200. And this is really important for us to know

  201. because salvation belongs to Yahweh alone,

  202. and therefore,

  203. the glory for the salvation

  204. belongs to Yahweh alone.

  205. Alone.

  206. It's summarized in verse 30 of chapter 14.

  207. Verse 30 of chapter 14 says this.

  208. That day,

  209. the Lord saved Israel

  210. from the hands of the Egyptians,

  211. and Israel saw the Egyptians

  212. lying dead on the shore.

  213. The Lord did it.

  214. Now, the reason why,

  215. West Kilburn,

  216. this is really important for us to know,

  217. is that what's happening here

  218. is pointing us ultimately

  219. to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  220. The great salvation

  221. that the Bible is pointing us forward to

  222. is not our salvation from Egyptians

  223. or from some foreign army

  224. is salvation from Satan

  225. and sin and death.

  226. We have a need to be saved from our sin.

  227. We have a need to be saved from Satan.

  228. We have a need to be saved from death.

  229. And just as what happens here,

  230. our role is to be still.

  231. God does this salvation by himself.

  232. It's Yahweh's work.

  233. When it comes to the great salvation

  234. that you and I need,

  235. the great salvation that many of us here

  236. have received,

  237. Yahweh did it,

  238. and he did it by himself.

  239. You don't contribute anything to that.

  240. He doesn't do most of the work

  241. and you do a bit of the work.

  242. Your job is just to look to Yahweh

  243. for him to do it by himself.

  244. In other words,

  245. if you're here today and you're saved,

  246. you're here this morning

  247. and you're heading towards heaven,

  248. here's one thing you ought to know.

  249. God did that and he did it by himself.

  250. You weren't a co-worker with God.

  251. You didn't collaborate with God.

  252. You watched and God did it.

  253. You weren't looking for God

  254. and God sent Jesus.

  255. You weren't looking for God

  256. and Jesus left heaven and came to earth.

  257. He did that.

  258. He came and he lived the perfect life.

  259. Not you.

  260. He did.

  261. He then went on the cross

  262. and he died for your sins.

  263. Not you.

  264. He did.

  265. Then God raised him

  266. from the dead on the third day.

  267. Not you.

  268. Not me.

  269. We didn't contribute anything to that.

  270. God did that.

  271. And then God brought him up

  272. to sit on his right hand.

  273. God did that all.

  274. And in doing that all,

  275. God worked your salvation.

  276. In other words,

  277. when God saved us,

  278. he did not leave any part for you to do.

  279. He defeated sin and death

  280. and Satan by himself.

  281. And then,

  282. having done all of that,

  283. one day he opened your eyes

  284. so that you could see that.

  285. He did it.

  286. He did it.

  287. He did it.

  288. And guess what that means?

  289. You ought to praise him.

  290. All the praise for your salvation

  291. belongs to him

  292. because he did it

  293. and he did it by himself.

  294. And for those of us here

  295. who are not trusting in Jesus,

  296. here's the point.

  297. Here's what this point ought to tell you.

  298. Don't try and save yourself.

  299. Some of you are here this morning

  300. maybe because you're trying

  301. to make your way to God.

  302. You want to,

  303. let me sort out my relationship with God.

  304. You think,

  305. let me do this Christian thing.

  306. Let me sort it out.

  307. Here's the point.

  308. You're just like these Israelites.

  309. You cannot save yourself.

  310. You're here today.

  311. You don't have a relationship with God.

  312. You cannot make a relationship

  313. with God happen.

  314. You can't work your way to God.

  315. You're not going to fix

  316. your relationship with God

  317. by stop doing

  318. some of the bad things you do

  319. and maybe start coming to church.

  320. That's not the gospel.

  321. That's not what Christians believe.

  322. That's not what Christians teach.

  323. No, what we teach

  324. is the same God

  325. who did it all for Israel

  326. thousands of years ago.

  327. It's the same God

  328. who has done it all for sinners

  329. and he's done it

  330. through Jesus Christ.

  331. And all you need to do

  332. this morning

  333. if you want a relationship

  334. with God

  335. is just look to him.

  336. You just look to him.

  337. You look to him

  338. because he has done it all.

  339. You know,

  340. this is the danger

  341. of all those false teachings

  342. and Roman Catholicism

  343. which tell you

  344. that in some way

  345. you have a role

  346. to play in your salvation.

  347. That in some way

  348. yes, Jesus has done this

  349. but you have to do this.

  350. But the truth of it

  351. is that God has done it all.

  352. And the reason why

  353. that's important

  354. is that when we believe

  355. that we have some part to play

  356. we rob Yahweh

  357. of his glory.

  358. We steal the credit

  359. from him.

  360. When in reality

  361. Yahweh does it all

  362. and he tells us

  363. be still.

  364. You know,

  365. only a God like Yahweh

  366. could tell people

  367. be still.

  368. The world out here

  369. is telling you

  370. you can change your life

  371. if only you start doing this

  372. and you start doing this

  373. and it heaps burdens upon you

  374. and it tells you

  375. salvation belongs

  376. in your hands

  377. and you need to do this

  378. and you need to do that

  379. but the God of the universe

  380. tells you

  381. be still.

  382. You don't have to work

  383. your way to God.

  384. You don't have to do anything.

  385. God has done everything

  386. in his son Jesus Christ

  387. and therefore

  388. just receive him.

  389. Look to him.

  390. Ask him to save you.

  391. Your job is to be saved.

  392. His job is to do the saving.

  393. Even this morning

  394. that's why even this morning

  395. you can be saved

  396. is because Yahweh

  397. does the work of salvation

  398. and he does that

  399. by himself.

  400. That's the first thing

  401. I want us to see

  402. is that Yahweh

  403. reveals himself

  404. as soul saviour.

  405. But the second thing

  406. I want you to see

  407. is that Yahweh saves

  408. and he saves

  409. the way in which he saves

  410. is that he saves

  411. by making a way

  412. where there is no way.

  413. Yahweh saves

  414. by making a way

  415. where there is no way.

  416. That's how Yahweh saves.

  417. And what that means

  418. the first part of that

  419. is to understand this

  420. is that Yahweh

  421. has a habit

  422. of bringing his people

  423. into situations

  424. where there is

  425. no way through.

  426. Yahweh has a way

  427. or he has a way

  428. of bringing his people

  429. to impossible situations.

  430. So Israel

  431. ends up

  432. in a situation

  433. where they are trapped

  434. between

  435. the sea

  436. dead end

  437. and the most powerful

  438. army in the world.

  439. They're trapped.

  440. I'm not sure

  441. if you thought about that.

  442. There are very few feelings

  443. as terrifying

  444. as the feeling

  445. of being trapped.

  446. Okay, imagine

  447. you know

  448. God forbid

  449. I'm not praying this

  450. for anyone

  451. but imagine

  452. you're walking down

  453. the streets of London

  454. let's make it scarier

  455. not North London

  456. South London

  457. and it's late at night

  458. walking around

  459. just late at night

  460. doing your own thing

  461. and all of a sudden

  462. there's a whole gang

  463. of men that

  464. you see

  465. come around the corner

  466. and they start chasing you

  467. and they make it clear

  468. and as they're chasing you

  469. it's clear

  470. because of what they're saying

  471. that they're not trying

  472. to steal from you

  473. they're actually trying

  474. to kill you

  475. they're trying to take your life.

  476. You're there in London

  477. and there's a bunch of guys

  478. they're running after you

  479. they've got weapons

  480. and they're running after you

  481. what do you do?

  482. You run

  483. right?

  484. You run

  485. so you're running

  486. you're running

  487. down the streets of London

  488. it's late

  489. it's deserted

  490. you're running

  491. you run down this street

  492. you run down that street

  493. but they're chasing you

  494. they're chasing you

  495. they're chasing you

  496. and you're panicked

  497. and you're running

  498. and you're running

  499. and you're running

  500. and you run down

  501. you take a turn

  502. and you run down

  503. and as you're running

  504. to your home

  505. what you realise is

  506. you run down

  507. and what you see

  508. is there's a wall

  509. and you look

  510. and you look

  511. and you look

  512. and what you realise

  513. It's the wall

  514. It's just a complete wall

  515. You run down a dead end

  516. It's a complete dead end

  517. So you see the dead end

  518. And you turn back and you look

  519. And as you turn back and you look

  520. You see this gang of people

  521. Come into that dead end

  522. And they're coming

  523. And they're approaching you

  524. And the gap between you and them

  525. Is getting smaller and smaller

  526. You're trapped up against the wall

  527. And there's a group of guys

  528. That are trying to kill you

  529. Who are approaching to you

  530. How do you feel in that moment?

  531. You're being squeezed

  532. You're up against the wall

  533. But there's this army

  534. There's this group

  535. There's this gang of people

  536. Who are trying to kill you

  537. Well that feeling

  538. That oppressive feeling

  539. Of being trapped

  540. That panic

  541. That's what's happening to Israel

  542. They're trapped

  543. They're up against the Red Sea

  544. There's no way through there

  545. And the Egyptian army is coming

  546. And the gap between them and Egypt

  547. Is getting closer and closer and closer

  548. And they're trapped

  549. This is horrible

  550. This is like

  551. The stuff of nightmares

  552. Except

  553. Hear the crazy thing about it

  554. They're trapped

  555. But it's Yahweh

  556. That's put them in this situation

  557. It's Yahweh

  558. That's put them in this situation

  559. Look at me at verse 18

  560. Of chapter 13

  561. It says

  562. So God

  563. God led the people

  564. Around by the desert road

  565. Towards

  566. Towards

  567. The Red Sea

  568. The Israelites

  569. End up in a dead end

  570. They're running

  571. They're running

  572. They're running

  573. They're fleeing

  574. From this great enemy

  575. And they're in a dead end

  576. And they're trapped

  577. But guess what

  578. It's God

  579. Who was their navigator

  580. They've ended up

  581. In this situation

  582. Where they're trapped

  583. But they're not trapped

  584. By mistake

  585. It's Yahweh

  586. That's brought them there

  587. You know

  588. In chapter 14

  589. The Israelites

  590. Complain against Moses

  591. They think

  592. It must be Moses

  593. Who has done this

  594. Moses must have

  595. Made a mistake

  596. How are we in this situation

  597. That we're in

  598. But the Bible tells us

  599. It's not Moses

  600. That's made a mistake

  601. It's God that's put them

  602. In this situation

  603. Where they're trapped

  604. Between the Red Sea

  605. And the Egyptian army

  606. And why am I stressing that

  607. I'm stressing that

  608. Because

  609. Some of us here

  610. This morning

  611. No doubt

  612. Are in impossible situations

  613. You're in an impossible situation

  614. Maybe at work

  615. Or

  616. You're in an impossible situation

  617. With your family

  618. And it feels like

  619. There's no way out

  620. And this feeling

  621. Of being trapped

  622. And

  623. I don't know what to do

  624. And it doesn't seem

  625. Like there's any way out

  626. And

  627. That feeling

  628. That terror

  629. You're experiencing

  630. That right now

  631. And the danger is

  632. That you think

  633. You're in this situation

  634. Because

  635. Of a mistake you made

  636. You took the wrong turn

  637. Or you think

  638. Ultimately

  639. You're in this situation

  640. Because you were unfaithful

  641. Or you think

  642. Ultimately

  643. You're in this situation

  644. Because of the sin

  645. Of someone else

  646. But here's the thing

  647. You are in the situation

  648. You're in

  649. That impossible situation

  650. If you're here

  651. You're a Christian

  652. The reason why you're here

  653. The most fundamental reason

  654. Why you're in that situation

  655. Is because

  656. God who is sovereign

  657. Has put you in that situation

  658. He's the one

  659. Who's led you

  660. Into this place

  661. Where there's no escape

  662. He's the one

  663. That's put you

  664. In this difficult situation

  665. It's Yahweh

  666. That puts Israel

  667. Into a situation

  668. Where they're between

  669. A sea

  670. And the greatest army

  671. In the world

  672. And yet

  673. Church

  674. Here's the thing

  675. Even as Yahweh

  676. In his sovereignty

  677. Brings us

  678. Into impossible situations

  679. He does it

  680. In such a way

  681. That he's still

  682. Mindful of our frame

  683. And he's mindful

  684. Of how we are

  685. He does it

  686. Because of his

  687. Great compassion

  688. Even though he brings

  689. His people

  690. Into impossible situations

  691. He doesn't do so

  692. Carelessly

  693. Look at me

  694. At the very first verse

  695. We read

  696. Verse 17

  697. Of chapter 13

  698. It says

  699. When Pharaoh

  700. Let the people go

  701. God did not lead them

  702. On the road

  703. Through the Philistine country

  704. Though that was shorter

  705. For God said

  706. If they face war

  707. They might change

  708. Their minds

  709. And return to Egypt

  710. So God led the people

  711. Around by the desert road

  712. Towards the Red Sea

  713. I think this is incredible

  714. I think this is amazing

  715. Some of you here

  716. You're here this morning

  717. You're in a difficult situation

  718. You feel like

  719. You're in an impossible situation

  720. And you know enough

  721. You've been following God enough

  722. To know that God is sovereign

  723. You know that God

  724. Is the one who's brought you

  725. To this situation

  726. You get that God is sovereign

  727. But in your heart

  728. You feel like

  729. God has been careless

  730. About you

  731. You feel like

  732. God has not been

  733. Mindful of you

  734. You feel like

  735. If God really knew me

  736. He would never have put me

  737. In this kind of situation

  738. He would never have brought me

  739. To this impossible situation

  740. But this passage tells us

  741. That Yahweh knows

  742. What would break you

  743. He knows what would cause you

  744. To give up

  745. He knows you

  746. And so he has brought you

  747. To this specific impossible situation

  748. Not another impossible situation

  749. This is incredible

  750. Look

  751. If you did a survey of Israel

  752. As they're trapped

  753. Between the Red Sea

  754. And the Egyptians are coming

  755. And you ask them

  756. Do you think

  757. God has been mindful of you

  758. In bringing you

  759. To this situation

  760. I'm going to say

  761. That they would say

  762. No

  763. Absolutely not

  764. Surely God wasn't

  765. Thinking about us

  766. When he brought us

  767. To this kind of situation

  768. But the Bible tells us

  769. God in his grace

  770. He tells us

  771. That God was mindful

  772. Of the Egyptians

  773. The reason why

  774. He didn't take them

  775. To the road

  776. Towards the Philistines

  777. Is that he knows

  778. That if they saw

  779. The Philistines

  780. That would cause them

  781. To give up

  782. So he didn't bring them

  783. To that impossible situation

  784. He brought them

  785. To another impossible situation

  786. In other words

  787. The one who is sovereign

  788. Over your life

  789. The one who is guiding your life

  790. He's not just sovereign

  791. He's careful

  792. And he's compassionate

  793. Here's the mystery

  794. Of this passage

  795. Yahweh's care for us

  796. He's compassion for us

  797. It doesn't keep him

  798. From bringing us

  799. To impossible situations

  800. And yet

  801. His bringing us

  802. To impossible situations

  803. Does not mean

  804. That he doesn't care for us

  805. In other words

  806. As impossible

  807. And as difficult

  808. As your situation

  809. Might seem today

  810. Know this

  811. Yahweh has been

  812. Intentional about it

  813. He's not been

  814. Careless about it

  815. He knows you

  816. He knows you

  817. This is amazing

  818. You know

  819. You know the God

  820. Who split the sea in half

  821. We're going to see that

  822. In a second

  823. You know he could have

  824. Destroyed the Philistine army

  825. Right

  826. Maybe more easily

  827. Than he

  828. And yet

  829. The reason why

  830. He did this way

  831. Because he was

  832. Mindful of them

  833. Yes

  834. It's an impossible

  835. Situation

  836. Yes

  837. It feels like

  838. You ought to despair

  839. Yes

  840. It feels like

  841. God doesn't care

  842. About you

  843. But no

  844. That's not true

  845. Yahweh's not

  846. Careless about you

  847. Yahweh's never been

  848. Careless about you

  849. He's mindful of you

  850. And so he's mindful

  851. Of you

  852. Even as he brings you

  853. To an impossible

  854. Situation

  855. And yet

  856. None of that

  857. Still answers

  858. The fundamental question

  859. Why

  860. Why does Yahweh

  861. Bring Israel

  862. To a situation

  863. Where they're trapped

  864. To a situation

  865. Where they're going

  866. To feel such

  867. Despair

  868. Well to demonstrate

  869. That Yahweh

  870. Is the God

  871. Who makes a way

  872. Where there is no way

  873. West Kilburn

  874. There was no way

  875. There was no way

  876. The Egyptians

  877. Were on one side

  878. And the sea

  879. Was on the other side

  880. There was no way out

  881. No way out

  882. But then

  883. Yahweh does

  884. One of the most

  885. Incredible things

  886. In all the scripture

  887. Yahweh makes

  888. A highway

  889. In the middle

  890. Of the sea

  891. There's no way out

  892. There's no way out

  893. There's no way

  894. How they're going

  895. To make it through

  896. But Yahweh

  897. Has a way

  898. Of making a way

  899. Where there is no way

  900. So he splits the sea

  901. He splits a sea

  902. In half

  903. So that the Israelites

  904. Walk through

  905. On dry ground

  906. That's incredible

  907. I don't care

  908. How long you've

  909. Known this story

  910. I don't know

  911. How many

  912. It doesn't really

  913. Matter to me

  914. How many times

  915. You've heard this before

  916. This is incredible

  917. God made

  918. Them walk through

  919. On dry ground

  920. In the middle

  921. Of the sea

  922. There was no way

  923. And then all of a sudden

  924. There was a way

  925. Because God made a way

  926. Right

  927. God did this

  928. So that he could show

  929. That he's the God

  930. Of the impossible

  931. And it's such a blessing

  932. When God does it

  933. This way

  934. Because when

  935. God does this

  936. When he brings us

  937. To impossible situations

  938. And then makes a way

  939. When there seems

  940. To be no way

  941. The amazing thing

  942. About it is that

  943. When God does this

  944. The very impossibility

  945. Of the situation

  946. Becomes

  947. God's people's testimony

  948. The very impossibility

  949. Of the situation

  950. Becomes the joy

  951. The very despair

  952. Of the situation

  953. Becomes the glory

  954. Of the situation

  955. In other words

  956. Why is the Red Sea

  957. Such an amazing story

  958. Why is it such

  959. An incredible joy

  960. Why is it

  961. The kind of

  962. Key event

  963. In the history of Israel

  964. It's because

  965. It was so impossible

  966. It's because

  967. There was no way out

  968. Such that

  969. The very despair

  970. Of the Red Sea

  971. Becomes the joy

  972. Of the Red Sea

  973. The very despair

  974. What will we do

  975. Becomes the point

  976. That's the moment

  977. That Israel

  978. Will look back on

  979. And sing about

  980. And rejoice in

  981. Is the fact that

  982. God made the way

  983. Where there is no way

  984. And church

  985. That's not just true

  986. About God here

  987. That's true

  988. Throughout the scriptures

  989. That's why when

  990. Yahweh comes in flesh

  991. Jesus Christ

  992. The Bible says

  993. There was a friend

  994. Of Jesus

  995. His name is Lazarus

  996. The Bible tells us

  997. That Lazarus was sick

  998. And he was very sick

  999. And they come

  1000. And tell Jesus

  1001. Lazarus

  1002. Your friend is sick

1003. And so what do you

  1004. Imagine that Jesus

  1005. Will do

  1006. You would imagine

  1007. Of course

  1008. That as soon as

  1009. Jesus hears this

  1010. He's going to rush

  1011. And he's going to

  1012. Go to Lazarus

1013. To go and heal him

  1014. Before he dies

  1015. But incredibly

  1016. That's not what happens

  1017. That's not what

  1018. Jesus does

  1019. The Bible says

  1020. That Jesus hears

  1021. That Lazarus is sick

  1022. And Jesus stays

  1023. Where he is

  1024. Jesus doesn't go

  1025. In fact

  1026. Jesus delays so much

  1027. That by the time

  1028. That Jesus gets there

1029. Lazarus is not only dead

  1030. He's been dead

  1031. For four days

  1032. Now you might think

1033. Like Israel would have thought

  1034. That maybe

  1035. This happened

  1036. Because Jesus

  1037. Didn't really care

  1038. About Lazarus

  1039. But John 11 says

  1040. They tell Jesus

  1041. Lazarus is sick

  1042. And John 11 says

  1043. Jesus loved Lazarus

  1044. Therefore

1045. He stayed where he was

  1046. In other words

  1047. This

  1048. Jesus delayed

  1049. But not because

  1050. He didn't love Lazarus

  1051. It's actually because

  1052. He loved Lazarus

  1053. Jesus ensured

  1054. That he didn't

  1055. Get them in time

  1056. To save Lazarus

  1057. Jesus ensured

  1058. He waited

  1059. So that Lazarus

1060. Would not only be dead

1061. But he would be dead

  1062. For four days

  1063. And when his sisters

  1064. See Lazarus

  1065. When they see Jesus

  1066. When Jesus shows up

  1067. On the scene

  1068. His sisters tell Jesus

1069. Lord if you had been here

  1070. My brother would not

  1071. Have died

  1072. They think

  1073. Jesus had done

1074. His best to get there

1075. And he just got held up

1076. But that's not true church

1077. Jesus could have got there

  1078. Jesus waited

  1079. Until the situation

  1080. Was impossible

  1081. Was beyond impossible

  1082. Impossible

1083. Why did Jesus do that

  1084. Jesus did that

1085. So that the very impossibility

  1086. Of the situation

  1087. Might become the joy

  1088. Jesus did that

  1089. To show that

  1090. He's the God

  1091. Who makes a way

1092. That there is no way

1093. And so when Jesus shows up

  1094. And Lazarus is dead

  1095. And has been dead

  1096. For four days

1097. And yet the Bible says

  1098. Jesus called out Lazarus

  1099. And Lazarus

  1100. Who was dead

  1101. Somehow heard the word

  1102. Of Jesus Christ

  1103. And Lazarus

  1104. Who had been dead

  1105. For four days

  1106. He came out

1107. And all of a sudden

  1108. The very impossibility

  1109. Of the situation

  1110. Was the joy

  1111. Of the situation

  1112. In other words

  1113. Jesus loved Lazarus

  1114. So much so

  1115. That Jesus wanted

  1116. To give Lazarus

  1117. A better testimony

  1118. You know

  1119. Lots of people

  1120. Had the testimony

  1121. That Jesus healed them

  1122. Lots of people

  1123. Had that testimony

1124. Jesus wanted to give Lazarus

  1125. A better testimony

  1126. Not that Lazarus

  1127. Was sick

  1128. No

  1129. Lazarus went around

  1130. Telling people

  1131. I was dead

1132. And I had been dead

  1133. Four days

  1134. And then I heard

  1135. The voice of Jesus

  1136. And somehow

  1137. I came up

  1138. From the grave

  1139. And the very impossibility

  1140. Of the situation

  1141. The very despair

  1142. That Jesus isn't here

1143. And my brother is dead

1144. And it's now been four days

  1145. That very impossibility

  1146. That became Lazarus'

  1147. Favourite part

  1148. Of the testimony

  1149. I wasn't planning

  1150. To share this initially

  1151. But I'll share this

  1152. Because you know

  1153. You guys feel like

  1154. Your family

  1155. My

  1156. My mum

  1157. A few years ago

  1158. She was diagnosed

  1159. With pancreatic cancer

  1160. And if you're familiar

  1161. With that

  1162. You will know

  1163. It's one of the

  1164. Deadliest cancers

  1165. You can get

1166. And it came out of the blue

  1167. And we were praying

  1168. And we were praying

1169. And there was a time

1170. There was a clinical nurse

1171. They were meant to have

  1172. Referred her

  1173. For chemo

  1174. And long story short

1175. They hadn't done their job

1176. And so I called them up

  1177. To be like

  1178. What's going on

  1179. You haven't referred her

  1180. And the response

  1181. Of the clinical nurse

  1182. Was

  1183. Well you know what

  1184. She's not likely

  1185. To make it anyways

  1186. And I remember

  1187. I remember where I was

1188. When I had that phone call

1189. And throughout that whole journey

1190. That was the low point

1191. That was the lowest point

1192. And it was so bad

  1193. Obviously I couldn't even

  1194. Tell my mum

  1195. I didn't even tell my mum

  1196. About this

1197. And by calling my brother

  1198. I was like

  1199. Can you imagine

  1200. The nurse that's meant

1201. To be caring for her

  1202. Is telling me

  1203. She's not even likely

  1204. To make it anyways

  1205. And yet church

  1206. In God's kindness

  1207. We prayed

  1208. And in God's kindness

  1209. In his mercy

  1210. God healed her

  1211. She's cancer free

  1212. She's been cancer free

1213. And here's the point of it

  1214. There's a lot of parts

  1215. In that story

  1216. There's a lot of things

1217. As I think of it

1218. And I thank God for it

  1219. There's loads of parts

  1220. Of that testimony

  1221. That I think about

1222. But if you want to tell

  1223. If you ask me

  1224. What's your favourite part

  1225. Of that testimony

  1226. Let me tell you

  1227. My favourite part

  1228. Is the moment

  1229. When that guy said

  1230. She's not likely

  1231. To make it

  1232. That moment

  1233. That was the moment

  1234. Of the greatest despair

  1235. Is now the moment

  1236. Of my greatest joy

  1237. Because that moment

  1238. Was the moment

  1239. Where it seemed

  1240. So impossible

1241. And yet that's the moment

  1242. That I rejoice in

  1243. Because God did

  1244. The impossible

  1245. God has a way

  1246. Of bringing these people

  1247. To impossible situations

  1248. Such that

  1249. When he does it

  1250. The very impossibility

  1251. Of it

  1252. Becomes their joy

  1253. And how are we

1254. To respond to a God

1255. Who does this kind of thing

  1256. We're to trust him

  1257. Look at me

  1258. At the last verse

  1259. Of Apathe

  1260. Verse 31

  1261. Of chapter 14

  1262. It says

  1263. When the Israelites

  1264. Saw the mighty hand

  1265. Of the Lord

  1266. Displayed against

  1267. The Egyptians

  1268. The people

  1269. Fared the Lord

  1270. And put their trust

  1271. In him

  1272. And in Moses

  1273. His servant

  1274. Verse Kilburn

1275. You ought to trust God

  1276. I don't know you guys

  1277. Well enough to know

  1278. What particular situation

  1279. You're going through

  1280. But here's the thing

1281. You ought to trust God

  1282. Because even before

1283. God split the Red Sea

  1284. God was with Israel

  1285. He was with them

1286. Even before he split them

  1287. Even now

  1288. In the midst of

  1289. Whatever difficulty

  1290. You may experience

  1291. God is with you

  1292. And the God

  1293. Who is with you

  1294. He's able to make a way

  1295. Where there seems

  1296. To be no way

  1297. Even now

1298. You ought to trust him

1299. Even stuck in the impossible

1300. You ought to trust him

  1301. And I don't presume

1302. To know what God will do

  1303. I'm not saying

  1304. If you pray

1305. Then God will do this

  1306. Or if you pray

  1307. Then God will do

  1308. I don't know

  1309. But here's the thing

  1310. I do know

1311. The God who can split

  1312. A sea in half

  1313. That's a God

  1314. Worth trusting

  1315. That's a God

  1316. You ought to pray

  1317. With confidence

  1318. You ought to never

  1319. Give up praying

  1320. And asking that God

  1321. Would help you

1322. In the midst of your situation

1323. You ought not to give up

  1324. Into despair

  1325. You ought to never

  1326. Stop praying

  1327. If this God

  1328. Is a God

1329. Who does this kind of thing

  1330. There is no reason

  1331. To doubt a God

  1332. Who makes a highway

1333. In the middle of a sea

  1334. Believe in Yahweh

1335. And believe in his servant

  1336. And his servant

  1337. Not ultimately Moses

  1338. Jesus Christ

  1339. Yahweh saves

1340. And he saves in such a way

1341. That he makes a way

1342. Where there is no way

  1343. Lastly

  1344. Here's the last thing

1345. I want us to see

  1346. Yahweh saves

  1347. And he saves

  1348. By doing a work

  1349. Of new creation

1350. This is the last thing

1351. I want us to see

  1352. But

  1353. I'm not saying

1354. It's going to be easier

1355. I want us to put

  1356. Our thinking caps on

  1357. We're going to have

  1358. We're going to go

  1359. All over the place

  1360. But stick with me

  1361. Let's think

  1362. In order to understand

  1363. What's happening here

  1364. In the Red Sea

  1365. You have to understand

1366. That in the ancient world

1367. The sea is a picture

  1368. Of chaos

  1369. It was unknown

  1370. It was unruly

  1371. It was a picture

  1372. Of death

  1373. And a picture

  1374. Of chaos

  1375. And you see that

1376. In the very first page

  1377. Of our Bibles

  1378. Genesis chapter 1

    Genesis 1 chapter mention

  1379. You see that

  1380. That the sea

  1381. Is a picture

  1382. The waters

  1383. Are a picture

  1384. Of chaos

  1385. You see that

  1386. So Genesis 1

    Genesis 1:1

  1387. Verse 1

  1388. It says

1389. I'll read it for us

  1390. In the beginning

  1391. God created the heavens

  1392. And the earth

  1393. Now the earth

  1394. Was formless

  1395. And empty

  1396. Darkness was over

  1397. The surface

  1398. Of the deep

  1399. And the spirit

  1400. Of God

  1401. Was hovering

  1402. Over the waters

  1403. So God makes creation

  1404. But creation

  1405. Is in chaos

  1406. Right

  1407. The bible says

  1408. It's formless

  1409. And empty

  1410. It's without form

  1411. It's void

  1412. It's unordered

  1413. And there's two signs

  1414. Of the chaos

  1415. And the unorderedness

  1416. Of it

  1417. Two signs

  1418. One is darkness

  1419. The second is

  1420. Water

  1421. There's just water

  1422. All over the place

  1423. And there's darkness

  1424. All over the place

  1425. And so when

  1426. Yahweh's going to

  1427. Make this world

  1428. He brings order

  1429. Firstly by

1430. Saying let there be light

1431. To do with the problem

  1432. Of darkness

  1433. But then

  1434. By dividing the waters

1435. He's going to create water

  1436. Create order

  1437. By splitting waters

  1438. Dividing waters

  1439. And so

  1440. He brings light

1441. And then the next thing

  1442. He does

  1443. The very next thing

  1444. He does

1445. Is he sorts out the water

  1446. So Genesis 1

  1447. Still verse 6

  1448. God said

1449. Let there be a vault

  1450. Between the waters

  1451. To separate water

  1452. From water

1453. So God made the vault

  1454. And separated the water

  1455. Separated the water

  1456. Under the vault

1457. From the water above it

  1458. And it was so

1459. God called the vault sky

  1460. And there was evening

  1461. And there was morning

  1462. The second day

  1463. Verse 9

  1464. And God said

  1465. Let the water

  1466. Under the sky

1467. Be gathered to one place

1468. And let dry ground appear

  1469. And it was so

1470. God called the dry ground land

  1471. And the water

  1472. The gathered water

  1473. As he called seas

  1474. And God saw

  1475. That it was good

  1476. So day 1

1477. God deals with the problem

  1478. Of darkness

  1479. Day 2 and 3

1480. God deals with the problem

  1481. Of the waters

1482. Just being all over the place

  1483. By dividing waters

  1484. So the first thing

  1485. That God does

1486. Is he divides the waters

  1487. Above

  1488. From the waters below

  1489. So there's waters above

  1490. And there's waters below

  1491. And the middle bit

  1492. Is the sky

  1493. But God's not done

  1494. Dividing waters

1495. God is trying to create order

  1496. So the waters below

  1497. God then divides

  1498. Those waters

1499. So that there's dry ground

1500. So when God wants to

1501. Do a work of creation

  1502. God does it

  1503. By splitting waters

  1504. He exerts his sovereignty

  1505. Over chaos

  1506. By dividing the waters

1507. And that's how he brings about

  1508. The work of creation

1509. Okay that's also back story

1510. That's one reason by the way

1511. If you know the story

  1512. Human beings

  1513. They're created

  1514. Into this wonderful world

  1515. Of order

  1516. They sin

  1517. They reject God

  1518. We choose chaos

  1519. And so what happens

1520. The consequence of that sin

  1521. Is what?

  1522. The flood

1523. And what happens in the flood

  1524. The waters that God

  1525. Had divided

  1526. Become undivided

  1527. Those waters

1528. Become one big blob again

  1529. Because human beings

  1530. Were choosing disorder

  1531. Were choosing chaos

  1532. So the waters

  1533. Become undivided

  1534. And yet

1535. When God wants to then

  1536. Deal with the problem

  1537. Of the flood

  1538. What does God do?

  1539. Noah's kind of

  1540. Like a new Adam

1541. He does a work of new creation

1542. God splits the waters again

  1543. Now

1544. Why am I saying all of that?

1545. All of that's really important

  1546. Background information

1547. For what God is doing

  1548. In the Red Sea

1549. I think we're meant to understand this

1550. In the backdrop of that

1551. The sea is a picture of chaos

  1552. And death

  1553. And yet God

  1554. In saving his people

1555. He does a work of new creation

  1556. Chapter 14

  1557. Verse 21

1558. Moses stretched out his hand

  1559. Over the sea

  1560. And all that night

1561. The Lord drove the sea back

1562. With a strong east wind

1563. And turned it into dry land

  1564. The waters were divided

  1565. And the Israelites

  1566. Went through sea

  1567. On dry ground

1568. With a wall of water

  1569. On their right

1570. And a wall of water

  1571. On their left

1572. Yahweh in saving his people

1573. He does it in a way

1574. That's meant to remind you

  1575. Of creation

  1576. To show you that

  1577. He's doing a work

  1578. Of new creation

  1579. When the chaos

  1580. Threatens his people

  1581. Yahweh does a work

  1582. Of new creation

  1583. If you're here today

1584. And you're trusting in Jesus Christ

  1585. You've already experienced this

1586. You were dead in sin

  1587. The waters of death

  1588. Had you under

1589. And yet God did a work

  1590. Of new creation

  1591. On that Sunday

  1592. That first Sunday

1593. When God raised his son

  1594. From the dead

  1595. By dividing the grave

  1596. A glorious work

  1597. Of new creation

1598. That's why the Bible says

1599. If anyone is in Christ

1600. They are a new creation

  1601. Yahweh saves by doing

1602. A work of new creation

  1603. That's the glory

  1604. Of the gospel

  1605. And because of that

  1606. Work of new creation

  1607. We are heading forward

  1608. To the fulfillment

  1609. Of it all

1610. In the final new creation

  1611. A new heavens

  1612. And a new earth

1613. And it's going to be

  1614. Unlike all the hints

  1615. Of the new creation

  1616. That we see

  1617. Here in our Bible

  1618. Because in that

  1619. Final new heavens

1620. And the final new earth

  1621. The new creation

  1622. Is going to entirely

1623. Swallow up the old creation

1624. And it's going to happen

  1625. In such a way

  1626. That we will never

  1627. Have to fear

  1628. Things going bad again

  1629. Stick with me here

  1630. Church

1631. We are a new creation

  1632. But we're still living

  1633. In the midst

  1634. Of an old creation

  1635. We're a new creation

  1636. But this world

  1637. Is still marked

  1638. By chaos and death

  1639. But praise God

  1640. We are heading

  1641. Towards a new creation

  1642. And in that day

  1643. When Jesus brings

  1644. The new creation

  1645. There will be

  1646. No more threat

1647. What I mean to say

  1648. Is that in creation

  1649. In Genesis

  1650. The seas were

  1651. All over the place

  1652. God split the sea

  1653. He divided the sea

  1654. He created order

  1655. But the problem is

1656. The sea was still there

  1657. So there was always

1658. A threat that the seas

  1659. Though divided

  1660. Would become undivided again

1661. And chaos would come again

1662. And death would come again

  1663. And in fact

  1664. That's what happens

  1665. Genesis 6

  1666. Human beings sin

  1667. The waters become

  1668. Undivided

  1669. There's chaos

1670. And so what does God do?

  1671. God does a work

  1672. Of new creation

  1673. With Noah

1674. God splits the waters again

  1675. And that's wonderful

  1676. It's good news

  1677. But what's the problem?

1678. The sea is still there

1679. The waters are still there

1680. So there's still the threat

  1681. That the sea

  1682. Could be a threat

  1683. To God's people

1684. And that's what you see

  1685. Here in Exodus

1686. God has to split the sea again

  1687. To save his people

  1688. And then

  1689. Again

  1690. That's wonderful

1691. But the sea is still there

  1692. And that's why eventually

  1693. God's people

  1694. Israel

  1695. They'll sin

1696. And God will send them

  1697. Off into exile

1698. And God makes this promise

1699. That he's going to do

  1700. A new exodus

1701. And he's going to make

1702. A highway in the sea

  1703. That's what the book

  1704. Of Isaiah says

  1705. And that's a wonderful thing

  1706. God does that

  1707. He rescues Israel

  1708. From Babylon

  1709. But what's the problem?

1710. The sea is still there

  1711. So there's always a threat

  1712. That the sea

  1713. Could come back again

  1714. But all of that's

  1715. Pointing us forward

1716. To the final new creation

1717. And it's pointing us forward

  1718. To Revelation

    Revelation 21:1

  1719. Chapter 21

  1720. Verse 1

1721. And I'll read it for us

1722. All of this is really

  1723. Backed down for us

  1724. To just understand this

  1725. Revelation chapter 21

    Revelation 21:1

  1726. Verse 1

1727. Might be one of the

  1728. Oddest things

  1729. That the Bible says

  1730. About the new heavens

  1731. And the new earth

  1732. Verse 1

  1733. I saw a new heaven

  1734. And a new earth

  1735. For the first heaven

  1736. And the first earth

  1737. Had passed away

1738. And there was no longer

  1739. Any sea

1740. As long as the sea existed

  1741. No matter how great

1742. God's act of salvation was

1743. There was always the fear

1744. That things could go bad again

  1745. But the Bible says

1746. That when he brings about

1747. The final work of new creation

1748. There will be no more sea

  1749. And the reason why

  1750. That ought to cause

  1751. Your heart to rejoice

  1752. Is it means that

  1753. On that day

  1754. We won't ever look

  1755. Over our shoulder

  1756. On that day

  1757. We won't ever wonder

  1758. Whether things could

  1759. Go wrong again

  1760. Because on that day

  1761. Things will be good

1762. And they will be good

  1763. Forever

  1764. And all of that

  1765. Is summarized

  1766. In chapter 13

  1767. Of 14

  1768. Chapter 14

  1769. Verse 13

1770. This will be the last

  1771. Verse we look at

  1772. Chapter 14

  1773. Verse 13

  1774. It says this

  1775. Moses answered the people

  1776. Do not be afraid

  1777. Stand firm

  1778. And you will see

  1779. The deliverance

1780. The Lord will bring you today

  1781. The Egyptians

  1782. You see today

  1783. You will never

  1784. See again

  1785. Church

  1786. The Israelites

  1787. Had been in slavery

  1788. In Egypt

  1789. For 400 years

  1790. 400 years

1791. They had been in slavery

  1792. Their parents

  1793. Their great parents

1794. And so on and so forth

  1795. 400 years

1796. But there came this day

  1797. Of salvation

  1798. And what Moses

1799. Tells the people of Israel

  1800. Is

  1801. These Egyptians

  1802. Who had been

  1803. Their slave masters

  1804. They had lived

  1805. Every day

  1806. Under the oppression

  1807. Of the Egyptians

  1808. But Moses says

  1809. You see these Egyptians

1810. Get a good look at them

1811. Because this is the last time

  1812. You'll see them

1813. You'll never see them again

  1814. Church

  1815. We are heading towards

  1816. A new heavens

  1817. And a new earth

  1818. And on that

  1819. In that new heavens

  1820. And a new earth

  1821. God has told us

1822. There will be no more sea

  1823. And what that means

1824. Is that all the things

  1825. That plague us here

  1826. On this earth

1827. We will see them no more

  1828. On the day

  1829. When Jesus comes

  1830. Comes through the skies

  1831. And brings about

  1832. The new heavens

  1833. And the new earth

1834. What I'm trying to say

1835. Is that on that day

  1836. You will see sin

  1837. We'll see sin

1838. And we'll look at sin

  1839. For the last time

1840. We will never see it again

  1841. On that day

  1842. We will see disease

1843. And we'll look at disease

  1844. For the last time

  1845. Because you will never

  1846. See it again

  1847. On that day

  1848. When Jesus brings in

  1849. The new heavens

  1850. And the new earth

  1851. We'll look upon

  1852. Mental health issues

  1853. And however difficult

1854. And painful that might be

  1855. For some of us

1856. You better get a good look

1857. On it on that day

  1858. Because that day

1859. Will be the last day

  1860. You will see it

  1861. On that day

  1862. You look at sorrow

  1863. And tears

  1864. And pain

  1865. And sorrow

  1866. And all those things

  1867. And you better look

  1868. At those things well

  1869. Because that will be

1870. The last day you look on it

1871. Because from that day forward

  1872. We will enter into

  1873. A new heavens

  1874. And a new earth

  1875. And there will be

  1876. No more pain

  1877. And there will be

  1878. No more sorrow

  1879. And there will be

  1880. No more tears

1881. And there won't be disease

1882. And there won't be pain

  1883. Because God is making

  1884. All things new

  1885. And there will be

  1886. No more sea

1887. And so we will rejoice

  1888. With our God

1889. We will praise our God

1890. Never looking over our shoulders

  1891. Enjoying an eternity

  1892. With the God

  1893. Who rescued us

  1894. By his great might

  1895. Let's pray

  1896. Heavenly Father

  1897. We thank you

  1898. For your great salvation

  1899. You are the God

  1900. Who saves

  1901. You save

  1902. That we might

  1903. Glory in you

  1904. That we might

  1905. Behold you

  1906. Thank you

  1907. Thank you

  1908. That you are

  1909. God

  1910. Who split the sea

  1911. Thank you

  1912. That you are

  1913. The God

  1914. Who has promised

  1915. That there will be

  1916. No sea

  1917. Thank you

  1918. That you are

  1919. The God

  1920. Who tells us

  1921. To be silent

  1922. To be still

  1923. And that you

  1924. Have done it all

  1925. Lord

  1926. What can we

  1927. Render to a God

1928. Who has done it all

  1929. For us

  1930. We were lost

  1931. In sin

  1932. We were far

  1933. From you

  1934. And you

  1935. Though we were

  1936. Not looking for you

  1937. You came

  1938. Looking for us

  1939. And you did not

  1940. Do part of it

  1941. You did it all

  1942. What shall we render

  1943. For the God

  1944. Who did it all

  1945. What shall we render

  1946. To you

  1947. Who saved us

  1948. By your own might

  1949. By your own power

  1950. By your own strength

  1951. What shall we render

  1952. To you

  1953. To a God

  1954. Who impossible

  1955. Is nothing to you

  1956. What shall we render

  1957. To a God

  1958. Who has promised us

1959. That the day is coming

  1960. Where we will never

  1961. Have to look over

  1962. Our shoulders again

  1963. Lord

1964. How can we praise you

  1965. Sufficiently

  1966. We can't

  1967. And yet Lord

  1968. Help us

  1969. Help us

  1970. Fill our hearts

  1971. With praise

1972. That we might praise you

1973. With all that is within us

  1974. For your great salvation

1975. We ask this in Jesus name

  1976. Amen

  1977. Amen
