Welcome to NECF Sermons. Each message here is
-
designed to uplift and strengthen you in your
-
walk with God. Don't miss out. Stay with us until
-
the end for a rewarding experience. Let's dive
-
right in. Look at verse 21. Genesis chapter 2
-
verse 21. The Lord God caused a deep sleep to
-
fall on Adam. And he slept. He took one of his
-
ribs, closed up the flesh in its place. Then
-
the rib which the Lord God had taken from man,
-
he made into a woman, brought her to the man.
-
Excuse me. So we think now this is starting,
-
right? Yes, starting. And we've been discussing
-
in this series. issues about or around women's
-
liberty. We are on a matter which we have stayed
-
for a long time trying to discuss what is God's
-
plan for the woman, what is God's original intention
-
in creating the woman. Did he create the woman
-
just to give birth for the man? I mean, which
-
means that her purpose is defined only by the
-
man or he has an independent, a really independent,
-
she has a complementary or a partnership kind
-
of thing with the man to achieve the plan of
-
God. It's her purpose defined by her gender.
-
It's her purpose defined by whether she can give
-
birth to children or not, or whether she can
-
even give birth to male children or not. For
-
some of us who are coming from, So villages that
-
are troubling us is a value defined by a given
-
body mass or physique. This has been our discussion
-
and last Sunday we discussed the matter and looked
-
at how Moses communicated. And we said that the
-
key to understanding the Bible is... really to
-
pay attention to the author and to the audience
-
because it's very important, what we generally
-
call the context. So we have been considering
-
scripture, particularly we dwell in Genesis chapter
Genesis 2 chapter mention
-
2 for some time now. And we're still there because
-
there's a lot we need to clarify here because
-
first, the woman is seen as what we call the
-
helper of man. And we noted that that word helper,
-
and then we quotient that. As we read, we have
-
to be very careful to know in the context whether
-
the Bible should be taking that in the context.
-
Was the author speaking literally? Was he using
-
figurative expression? Or was he using... which
-
type of item to describe whatever he's describing.
-
So there's no actually like a formula one plus
-
one equals to two. Because I know these days
-
we love to have formula which we can apply everywhere.
-
You know, even those days, once they taught us
-
quadratic equation, we made a formula which is
-
not almighty and we call it almighty formula.
-
And it's not almighty. And we knew that quadratic
-
equation, there are some quadratic equation that
-
you can't solve using. actually the formula.
-
I knew that then you have to, sorry, all of us
-
have done mathematics, so at least general mathematics.
-
I knew that there are four ways which we were
-
taught, you understand, to solve quadratic equations
-
from using the graph, using the formula, by factorization
-
and so on. Again, we found out that we cannot
-
use almighty formula in scripture. So we have
-
to learn to pay attention to context. That's
-
what we have been describing. So that when we
-
see a word, like in the case of helper, we don't
-
just pick it like that as if we are... Even dictionary,
-
when you are reading dictionary, dictionary does
-
not just give you one word. It gives you several
-
words and you have to look. and be careful to
-
know which one are you looking for. So the same
-
thing here, we need to pay attention to what
-
we are talking about. And we saw that the word
-
helper, no, no, no, no, that is not talking about
-
the woman because that word helper is ezer. And
-
nowhere has the word ezer been used for a woman.
-
And the context in which it appears, it couldn't
-
have been the woman because man, the woman cannot.
-
rescue man from trouble. In fact, the trouble
-
that she was to be rescued from, I mean the trouble
-
that they are entering, which she herself was
-
the one who through her came, she also needed
-
help. So the helper is also for her, which needed
-
to get her out of the trouble that plunge humanity.
-
And so we noted and we continued our discussion,
-
now to reach a point whereby he talks about the
-
rib. That's where I read to us. And we saw that.
-
We asked a very personal question. Was Moses
-
referring to the biological or the physical rib
-
we know, or in anatomy that we know, the rib
-
which we have? 12 PS, as we said, was he talking
-
about that to build the woman? What was the discussion
-
actually there? You know, even though most of
-
the times we use these scriptures actually in
-
the issue of marriage generally, and we have
-
not come to realize that even marriage itself
-
was actually a parable, was actually... a pointer
-
to something that the teaching of marriage ought
-
to be done in such a way that it points to Christ
-
because it's not meant to be when the word a
-
man coming together and to join most times we
-
use it in marriage well we can use it but if
-
we have the understanding that God desire us
-
and I'm going to talk about that later on so
-
The point is that we then asked actually, was
-
Moses talking about the physical rip? And then
-
we began to see, okay, let's go to Moses because
-
he's not only in Genesis that he taught. So he
-
had the teaching material in the same Genesis,
-
Exodus, in the same Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy.
-
And we tried to look at that same word, how he
-
used it. And throughout where we read, we read
-
throughout Exodus. In Exodus, that's where he
-
used that so well to teach with that word. And
-
we later find out that that word, rip, is always
-
where it appears in Moses' teaching material.
-
It's in reference to the building of a tabernacle.
-
Is that where we stop? Yes. So we saw that it
-
was in reference to the building of a tabernacle.
-
And the tabernacle, we said again, it wasn't
-
a strange thing. I mean, because when you see
-
Moses emphasizing something over and over, you
-
need to be, wait a minute, why did he emphasize
-
that so well? He has used that word in several
-
places and in reference to only a particular
-
thing, you understand, and which is a tabernacle.
-
So we're trying to ask again, why was it that?
-
Then we saw that, ah, tabernacle was not a strange
-
thing. to the children of Israel. We now saw
-
that it wasn't that Moses just imagined and said,
-
okay, let me build Tabernacle for you. No, they
-
are aware. They are acquainted with the Tabernacle
-
because of their experience in Egypt. And so
-
we saw that Tabernacle actually, because of Egypt
-
experience, they knew. And we read a couple of
-
scriptures. And I want us to note all those scriptures
-
in which we noted, showing that Egypt was actually
-
a place of idolatry. Egypt was a place that is
-
full of all kinds of gods. And I want to read
-
one more scripture today to show that also that
-
these people, they learned so much of this idolatry.
-
And even when they were out of Egypt, they were
-
still in the wilderness. Still that thing never
-
let them. Come with me to Exodus chapter 32.
Exodus 32 chapter mention
-
Exodus chapter 32. So I'm just going to add this
Exodus 32 chapter mention
-
scripture. to the ones I've already talked about,
-
like Exodus chapter 12, verse 12 to 13, and we
-
read also Joshua chapter 24, verse 14, and Ezekiel
-
25 to 18. So I'm going to add Exodus 32, verse
-
1 to 6. Exodus 32, verse 1 to 6. I want us to
-
go there. all of us. Okay, so I will read from
-
just verse 1. It says that now when the people
-
saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain,
-
the people gathered together to Aaron and said
-
to him, come, make us God that shall be before
-
us. Where do you think the land is? Make us what?
-
God. They were coming from somewhere, you understand?
-
Look at what they continue to say. He said, As
-
for this Moses, the man who brought us up out
-
of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has
-
become of him. And Aaron said to them, Break
-
off the golden earring. Don't wish to have a
-
leader like that. Don't wish to have a leader
-
like that, who anything goes. Aaron told them,
-
he said to them, Break off the gold earrings
-
which are in the ears of your wives, your sons,
-
and your daughters, and bring them to me. So
-
all the people broke off the golden earrings
-
which were in their ears and brought them to
-
Aaron. And he received the gold from their hands.
-
He fashioned it. with an engraving tool and made
-
a molded calf. Then they said, This is your God,
-
O Israel, that brought you out of the land of
-
Egypt. Verse 5. So when Aaron saw it, he built
-
an altar before it. Did you see what is happening?
-
You see, the issue of idol worship was not a
-
strange thing to them. He built an altar. They
-
knew what they were doing. So not just only that,
-
they made an idol, a molded calf. Aaron also
-
built an altar. And Aaron made a proclamation
-
and said, Tomorrow is a feast to the Lord. Then
-
he arose early on the next day, offered a burnt
-
offering, and brought peace offering. And the
-
people sat down. Now, eat, drink, and arose to
-
play. This also text was made reference in the
-
New Testament. I believe we treated it in the
-
book we read last three months. Amen. So this
-
is very important. And I want us to pay attention
-
to it. So you could see that these people are
-
coming from somewhere with... He already had
-
the information on how to build the altar, how
-
to do this was not a strange thing. The worship
-
of idols was not a strange thing. So Moses' audience
-
were familiar or is familiar with the tabernacle
-
or the temple. You can call it the temple from
-
Egypt. There is a scripture again I need to add.
-
I think that would be good. Jeremiah chapter
Jeremiah 43 chapter mention
-
43. Please look at Jeremiah 43. Jeremiah 43,
-
look at verse 12. I will candle a fire in the
-
houses of the gods of where? The gods of Egypt.
-
I want you to know the word, the houses of the
-
gods of Egypt. And he shall burn them and carry
-
them away captive and he shall array himself
-
with the land of Egypt as a shepherd puts on
-
his garment and he shall go out. from there in
-
peace. He shall also break the sacred pillar
-
of Beth Shemesh that are in the land of Egypt.
-
This word Beth Shemesh, if you look at some other
-
version, talks about the house of the sun. That
-
is sun, that you know. S -U -N. Beth Shemesh.
-
So, and the house of the gods of the Egyptians,
-
he shall burn with fire. The house. of the gods
-
of the Egyptians. So these people are conversing
-
with this. They are conversing with house. I
-
told you that word house also in Hebrew can also
-
mean temple. It's temple also. Temple, house.
-
Temple is the same thing or tabernacle. It's
-
the same thing. It's the word bayit. B -A -Y
-
-I -T. It also means, so you can see the house
-
of the gods of the Egyptians or the houses of
-
the gods, sorry, or the tabernacle of the gods
-
or the temple of the gods. They still mean the
-
same thing. So this is very key and clear that
-
we understand that when Moses was communicating
-
to them, he knew they understood what he was
-
trying to say. This is why we said sometimes
-
you have to sit where the audience sat to be
-
able to hear what they heard. Because the audience
-
also plays no matter how you communicate will
-
be based according to the audience. And so I
-
don't want you to forget the message actually
-
we have been reading in Genesis chapter 1 and
Genesis 1 chapter mention
-
Genesis chapter 2. The message there is one of
Genesis 2 chapter mention
-
God building his house. It's one God building
-
his own house. And this house is not a place
-
like we see for idols. It's a tabernacle. It's
-
a house. In fact, he has repeated it over and
-
over. It's not a house made with hands. Isaiah
-
66 tells us, even in the book of Acts, you understand,
-
Paul was teaching and he brought that also to
-
the people, I think to the people of Arkans,
-
understand, that he doesn't live in a house made
-
with hands. So right, the message about God's
-
building a house starts from Genesis, talking
-
about how he will build a family. You can call
-
that again a family. a house, a family. So that's
-
the message of Genesis. We have seen that from
-
Genesis. We keep teaching it, you understand,
-
until we get that. That's what Moses was communicating.
-
But then I want to point you to something else
-
before I come, so that you know that when Moses
-
was talking about Tabernacle, he was using what
-
they knew, but he was communicating something
-
ahead. Something ahead, you understand? Something
-
ahead. Now, maybe probably we should refresh
-
our mind with what the intention of God is. Probably,
-
let me go to Hebrews. Come with me to Hebrews
-
first before I now look at other scriptures that
-
we have looked at before. Hebrews chapter 8.
Hebrews 8 chapter mention
-
Look at Hebrews chapter 8 verse... Look at verse
Hebrews 8 chapter mention
-
3. Hebrews chapter 8 verse... Three, he said,
Hebrews 8 chapter mention
-
for every high priest is appointed to offer both
-
gifts and sacrifice. Therefore, it is necessary
-
that this one also having something to offer.
-
He said, for if he were on earth, he would not
-
be a priest, since there are priests also, or
-
there are priests who after the gift according
-
to the law. There are priests according to the
-
law. You understand? According to the law. Are
-
we together? Remember, once you say law, he's
-
talking about what Moses gave. What Moses instituted.
-
You understand? Or gave them. You understand?
-
Which came about as a result of unbelief. You
-
understand? In the gospel. So, he said, who shall
-
have a copy? Because you cannot have priests.
-
without having where they worship, you understand?
-
And that is the temple, the tabernacle. And that
-
setting was actually depicting where they are
-
coming from. So they have a quite understanding
-
of what Moses was talking about. So when Moses
-
was to communicate to them, he uses what they
-
are familiar with, but then talking about what
-
is to come. He said, who serve the copy and a
-
shadow of the heavenly things as Moses was divinely
-
instructed. when he was about to make the tabernacle.
-
Now, can you look at how the New Testament put
-
it? He said, when he was about to make the tabernacle.
-
Now, he's showing that it wasn't God who asked
-
him directly to make the tabernacle. But when
-
he was about to make it in the psalm, God told
-
him, you have to do it according to pattern.
-
Because that pattern he's talking about, he's
-
talking about what he saw ahead, what Christ
-
will come to do. He said, you are now about to
-
do something. I want you to do it according to
-
pattern. You understand? He said, he was divinely
-
instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle.
-
That was when he was instructed. The instruction
-
was not to make the tabernacle. But when he was
-
about to make the tabernacle, he was instructed.
-
You understand? That's what he said. See that
-
you make all things according to the pattern
-
shown you. on the mountain. So he built the tabernacle
-
with something in mind. And as you continue to
-
read, verse 6 says, but now he has obtained a
-
more excellent ministry in the sand, inasmuch
-
as he is also a mediator of a better covenant,
-
which was established on better promises. We
-
have discussed this text. a better covenant,
-
a better promises. This is talking about not,
-
it's not comparatively. We have discussed this.
-
Pastor Fred also have taught in this time. He's
-
not talking about comparing the two, which one
-
is. No, no, no. He's talking about just the same
-
way we are taught also when the Bible says this
-
is true bread. He's not talking about that there
-
is a fake one. He's trying to say that one, which
-
is the bread they ate, you understand, was a
-
pointer, was a hypodigma. was an example of what
-
is to come. It was pointing to something. That's
-
what is communicated. So we saw that when Moses
-
was doing, so these people, as Moses was doing
-
that, he was pointing them to a tabernacle. He
-
was pointing them to a priesthood, you understand,
-
which is heavenly. He's pointing them to a tabernacle,
-
which is heavenly, you understand. He was pointing
-
them to the building of God. which will happen.
-
And I want you to see what Jesus talked to Peter.
-
Look at what Jesus told Peter in Matthew chapter
Matthew 13 chapter mention
-
13. Sorry, Matthew 16. Look at what Jesus told
-
Peter in verse 18. Matthew 16, verse 18. He said,
-
And I say to you that you are Peter, and on this
-
rock... I will build, I will build my church
-
and the gate of Hades shall not prevail against
-
it. And the gate of Hades shall not prevail against
-
it. That building is a church. That tabernacle
-
is a church. That's the dwelling place of God.
-
That's the dwelling place of God. In fact, Peter
-
understood clearly what Jesus was talking about
-
because he said he's going to build a house.
-
He was there when they were being communicated,
-
when they were being taught as recorded by John.
-
He said, in my father's house are many mansions.
-
You understand? So he was in John 14. So he was
-
there when they were communicating. So when he
-
was talking about here again, I will build my
-
church. You understood what he was talking about.
-
That was why when Peter wrote in 1 Peter 2, he
-
clearly, that was what he was saying. You understand?
-
He knew what God was saying. I mean, what Jesus
-
spoke to him in the sand, and he knew that death
-
would not actually stop, would not oppose, would
-
not stop, would not prevail upon what Jesus was
-
about to build by his death and resurrection.
-
Look at 1 Peter 2, verse 4. Look at 1 Peter 2,
-
verse 4. He said, coming to him as to, well,
-
coming to him is... Coming to him a living or
-
life, you understand. Anyway, that word in, what
-
do you call it? In Italics, you understand, it
-
was inserted by the translators. So, let's just
-
begin it. Coming to him as to a living stone,
-
you understand, rejected indeed by men, but chosen
-
by God and precious. Verse 5. You also, as living
-
or lively stones, have been built up a spiritual
-
house, a holy priesthood. Do you see that? A
-
spiritual house. Moses was building a physical
-
one pointing to a spiritual house. Do you understand?
-
A spiritual house, a holy priesthood. Do you
-
see that? They were a physical priesthood who
-
are unbelievers, who never believed, you understand?
-
You know, normally, when we normally speak, we
-
used to exempt... We used to exempt those, the
-
Levites, as if they are the ones who believe
-
God. They are unbelievers, all of them, you understand?
-
All of them are unbelievers. So, they refused
-
to believe too. So, while they were... doing
-
that, they were pointing to a spiritual priesthood.
-
You understand? Spiritual priesthood. Not some
-
certain, unfortunately, some churches have made,
-
I keep perpetuating the old system. I see there
-
are some spiritual people on top of a pulpit.
-
No. Our brother was praying and helping us before
-
we start this teaching. He said the goal is for
-
us, all of us, to be taught to mature. that we
-
also would teach others to do what was done to
-
us. That's the order of God. So the priesthood
-
is everyone, everyone in the South, holy priesthood,
-
to offer up spiritual sacrifice acceptable to
-
God through Jesus Christ. So what makes your
-
service, your sacrifice acceptable? It's not
-
whether you go and wash your hands and bath,
-
you know, those days before they offer it, you
-
have to go and cleanse themselves. They normally
-
call it consecrate themselves. No. What makes
-
us, our service acceptable is what Christ has
-
done. You understand? Your merit does not give
-
you qualification. It doesn't make God accept
-
your service. We offer spiritual sacrifices through
-
Jesus Christ. Are we together? He said, Therefore,
-
it is also contained in the Scripture, Behold,
-
I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, a leg precious,
-
and he who believes on him will by no means be
-
put to shame. Therefore, you who believe is precious,
-
but to those who are disobedient, the stone which
-
the builder rejects has become the chief cornerstone.
-
and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.
-
They stumbled, being disobedient to the word
-
to which they also were appointed. Verse 9. But
-
you, my chosen generation, a royal priesthood,
-
a holy nation, his own special people, that you
-
may proclaim the praises of him who called you
-
out of darkness into his. The same thing Paul
-
wrote as well. Paul wrote in Ephesians chapter
Ephesians 2 chapter mention
-
2, Ephesians chapter 2 verse 9, Ephesians chapter
-
2 verse 19. Did I say 9? Sorry. He said, now,
-
therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners,
-
but fellow citizens with the saints and members
-
of the household of God. We are members of the
-
household. We are a fulfillment of what Moses
-
wrote about. The communication of Moses was a
-
fulfillment. A household of God. Not male, not
-
female, all of us. You understand? There is no,
-
we have one identity. You understand? Here he
-
didn't mention male or female. No, he said all
-
of us are members of the household of God. Having
-
been healed. How? By the death and resurrection
-
of Christ. Because he told Moses, you understand,
-
on this rock. I mean, sorry, he taught Peter
-
on this rock. I will build my church and the
-
gate of Hades. Death will not prevail against
-
it. I will resurrect and that will be the means
-
by which the church, by which the building of
-
God, that spiritual building will be built. He
-
said, having been built on the foundation of
-
the apostles and the prophet. What is that foundation?
-
It is Jesus Christ because he is the founder
-
of the church. He founded it upon his resurrection.
-
He said the foundation of the apostles and the
-
prophets, that is Jesus Christ. He's not saying
-
different, you know, some people now come to
-
say, you understand, we are the apostles and
-
the prophets. We are the foundation of the church.
-
No, that's not what this place is saying. He's
-
not saying the apostles and the prophets are
-
the foundation of the church. He said, no, they
-
are actually, we have been built on the foundation.
-
What is that foundation? That foundation is Christ.
-
That is the foundation that the apostles used.
-
Do you understand what I'm trying to say? Because
-
it's Christ they have taught. It's Christ they
-
have taught. It's Christ they have taught. It's
-
Christ they have taught. You understand? So they
-
could not be the very people that actually they
-
are talking about themselves. And so Jesus Christ
-
himself, the chief, not being, but the chief
-
cornerstone in whom the whole building, did you
-
see that? in whom the whole building be fitted
-
together grow into a holy temple. That word again.
-
So temple, house, household means the same thing.
-
Or tabernacle means the same thing. Are we together?
-
He said a temple, a temple in the Lord in whom
-
you also have been built or build. together for
-
a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. Amen.
-
So, and each time these people are about to deviate
-
from their identity, you will hear Paul talk
-
in 1 Corinthians 6, 19, don't you know, or do
-
you not know that your bodies are the temple
-
of the Holy Spirit? Because each time he would
-
tell them, don't you know? in the sand. Don't
-
you know? Don't you know? Don't you know? Are
-
we together? So we saw that in that Hebrews,
-
that that is what Moses was talking about. He
-
was pointing to whatever he did was a copy. Whatever
-
he did was a shadow. Whatever he did was actually
-
pointing to something ahead that I want us to
-
take note. Therefore, it is evident, it is very,
-
very evident that Moses built the tabernacle
-
or the temple, you can say, to teach his audience
-
God's plan for the new tabernacle. Are we together?
-
Moses built, you understand, remember, these
-
people, I want you to get that very clearly.
-
Moses built, you know, we normally, we have clarified
-
that, that Moses did not give them the law to
-
substitute grace. Are we together? Because he
-
preached to them, they refused. So he said, okay,
-
let me give them another means. You understand?
-
Like today we normally say, you know, there are
-
many means, you understand, to serve the Lord.
-
It's not only one means. So don't always insist
-
on your own. You know, just to make you slack,
-
you understand? Don't always insist on your own
-
way. There are many means. If God wanted to make
-
us all one, he would have made us. No, it doesn't
-
work that way, you understand? He doesn't force
-
us into those things. So it is evident that Moses
-
built the tabernacle. in the south of the temple
-
to teach his audience God's plan for the new
-
tabernacle, God's plan for the new house, the
-
new humanity, the new creation, where he will
-
inhabit and he will dwell in the sun. He will
-
inhabit and he will dwell. So when Moses said,
-
2. Go back to Genesis chapter 2, verse 21. So
-
when Moses said in verse 21, And the Lord God
-
caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept
-
in the sand. And he took one of his three, that
-
word, and he took one of his three. So it's evident
-
that Moses was not just talking about just basically
-
biology. Are we together? He was not referring
-
to Adam's physical rib. Or he was not referring
-
to Adam's biological body. Moses was not teaching
-
using biology there. Did you hear how I put it?
-
I didn't say Moses was not teaching biology.
-
I said Moses was not using biology or anatomy.
-
Please. It's very important you get it. how I
-
put it in the sand. So he was not using, because
-
it looks as if he was using actually biology
-
or anatomy. No, he was not using that. He was
-
not using biology or anatomy to teach. Because
-
we discover that that word rip is not a biologic
-
term, even though it appears that way there.
-
Are we together? From Moses' teaching note, if
-
you look at the entire place where that word
-
rip appears, which we said that rip, is the word
-
sight. We look at Moses' teaching notes where
-
we go through all where he taught using that
-
word in the book of Exodus and also in Genesis
-
where we saw in the sand, Moses did not use that
-
term as a human anatomy term. But one thing we
-
saw, it was an architectural term. Please, I
-
want you to know that. It was an architectural
-
term. that he utilizes in the sun to refer to
-
a part of a building, meaning a part of a hole
-
in the sun. It's a building, a tabernacle, or
-
a portion in the tabernacle, like an ark, to
-
describe a part of a hole. Again, a part of a
-
hole. So, rip is not a biological term. Rip there
-
is not actually a... a term in anatomy, in human
-
anatomy, that word rib is an architectural term.
-
An architectural term that talks about or refers
-
to a part of a building. In this case, a part
-
of or a site. Now, what side of the tabernacle?
-
Now, there's a question then we will have to
-
ask. Understand? If that is the case, or since
-
that is the case, that the rip is a site or a
-
part of a tabernacle. Now the question is, what
-
tabernacle was Moses talking about? If actually
-
we said that place or rip there is a site of
-
a tabernacle, then what tabernacle was Moses
-
referring to? When he said the sight of a man
-
or the rip, one of the rip of a man in the sand.
-
What is he talking about? Which side of a tabernacle
-
is he talking about? So we need to clarify that.
-
Now, go back to that scripture also, because
-
we need to do some work now to clarify what Moses
-
was referring to. Now, what is that? Look at
-
it. Let's, we can follow. reading from the response
-
of Adam when the woman, yes, was brought to him.
-
Look at what Adam said. It can give us a lead
-
to where we are going, to how to answer which
-
type of tabernacle Moses was referring to. So,
-
look at verse 23. It said, and Adam said, understand,
-
this is now born of my bones and flesh of my
-
flesh. She shall be called woman because she
-
was taken out of man. She shall be called woman
-
because she was taken out of man. She was taken
-
out of man. I want you to know the word the bones
-
of my bones. and the flesh of my flesh. Now,
-
before we answer that, we have to clarify because,
-
you know, those words that were there, we need
-
to explain a number of them that normally bring
-
confusion. One of them before I'm coming to this,
-
we will answer this. But I want you to note the
-
bones of my bones and the flesh of my flesh.
-
What does that mean? We're going to answer that.
-
But let's look at that. He said, verse 21, he
-
said, and the Lord God caused a deep sleep, fall
-
on Adam, and he slept and he took. So he looked
-
as God performed an operation. And we said that
-
the description here is not biology. All those
-
descriptions are a description, like rip we have
-
mentioned is an architectural term. So how did
-
Moses be using these terms here? What is this
-
deep sleep? That's the question now. If the deep
-
sleep is not literal, because we saw now, rip
-
is not literal. You understand? It means sight.
-
Again, then what is deep sleep? Then deep sleep
-
could actually not be also literal. You understand?
-
What is then deep sleep? You understand? Now,
-
deep sleep is a single word I want you to note
-
in Hebrew. Deep sleep is a... single word in
-
Hebrew. It means hedema. It means T -A -R -D
-
-E -M -E. T -A -R -D -E -M -E. Which means trans.
-
It means trans. Of course, there are many places
-
where in the Bible that talks about It uses it
-
literally, actually. But we're looking at the
-
teaching notes of Moses, you understand? So it
-
actually means trance, you understand? And so
-
what exactly are we saying now, you understand?
-
So that means, let's look at some scripture,
-
you understand? That same word was used in Genesis
-
15. Look at Genesis 15, verse 12. Genesis...
-
Just go up a little bit because we're trying
-
to study the teaching notes of Moses. Genesis
-
15 verse 12. And when the sun was going down,
-
a deep sleep fell upon Abraham and behold, horror
-
and great darkness fell upon him. Now, if you
-
just read this verse alone, you would think actually
-
that Abraham just slept. No. But when you start
-
from verse 1, you understand what the Bible is
-
talking about. Look at verse 1 of Genesis 15.
-
After these things, the word of the Lord came
-
to Abraham in a what? Oh, talk to me. In a vision
-
saying. Did you see that? In a vision. So that
-
reading continually, when you continue to read
-
in the context up to 12, and all the discourse
-
on the event that was happening, it was in the
-
dream. You understand? You remember dream when
-
I'm saying dream? That means it's in a vision.
-
So that means this word is in reference to vision,
-
deep sleep, trance, you understand? Vision. Are
-
we together? Therefore, deep sleep means vision.
-
So what actually happened to Adam was not a surgical
-
or a medical operation, you understand? No. It
-
was a vision that God took Adam to see something.
-
Then you will not be surprised. His response,
-
immediately you walk off from the vision. Did
-
you understand what I'm trying to say? So he
-
saw the vision of what God in the sand, what
-
God intends. So what God showed Adam was a vision
-
ahead, what he will do. Are we together? So when
-
God says, and the Lord God caused a deep sleep
-
to fall on Adam and he slept, he was talking
-
about a vision and he took one of his ribs. We
-
have already described that rib. That means what
-
Adam is seeing, that means now you can now understand
-
that he's not talking about literature. The rib
-
is not literature. So when he said he took one
-
of his ribs, that means he was talking about
-
a building. So in the vision, that was what Adam
-
was seeing. You understand? And close up with
-
the flesh in this place. Now, it is not God performing,
-
as I said, a surgical procedure on Adam. No.
-
You understand? Like Abraham, Adam was just being
-
shown a vision. Was being shown a vision. Now,
-
the question again we want to ask, what vision?
-
What vision was God showing him? You understand?
-
Now look at Adam's response in verse 23. In verse
-
23 of that Genesis. And this is what he said.
-
I said, this is now the bone of my bones and
-
the flesh of my flesh. So this Adam's response
-
in verse 23 tells us what vision Adam saw. And
-
I want you to note the word, this is the bones
-
of my bones and the flesh of my flesh. The word
-
they are bones is... Follow me gradually because
-
we're so close. The word bones there is a Hebrew
-
word which means ascent. Which means is E -S
-
-E -M. Ascent. E -S -E -M in Hebrew. Also of
-
my bones is also the same thing ascent. So bones
-
means ascent. Of my bones means ascend. So if
-
we say the bones of my bones, I will say ascend,
-
ascend. So if you are going to say that in Hebrew,
-
it will be ascend, ascend in a sign. And that
-
word ascend means self, same. Please follow me
-
gradually. That word ascend means self. It means
-
also or same, same. That is the same in a sign,
-
the same. Moses used the same word. And I want
-
you to see where Moses used the same word of
-
that ascent. That is the bones of my bones. Oh,
-
bones. You understand? Because that was what
-
Adam saw. And he now responds. He is the bones
-
of my bones. It means ascent, ascent. That means
-
what he is saying is that he is the same, the
-
same. You understand? Same, the same. What is...
-
Adam saying, Genesis chapter 7. Genesis 7 verse
Genesis 7 chapter mention Genesis 7:13
-
13. Look at Genesis 7 verse 13. On the very same
-
day, Noah and Noah's sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth,
-
and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons,
-
with them entered the ark. On the very same.
-
Did you see that word? That word same there.
-
On the very same. That word same. Means a sin.
-
Genesis 17. Genesis 17. It means that very sin.
-
Look at Genesis 17 verse 23. So Abraham took
-
Ishmael, his son, all who were born in his house
-
and all who were bought with his money, every
-
male among the men of Abraham's house. and circumcised
-
the flesh of their foreskin that very same day.
-
That word same there is also a sin as God has
-
said to him, as God has said to him. So that
-
word is same there. So in other words, when Abraham
-
said, this is my bones, or this now, or this
-
is now bone of my bone, he was saying same, same.
-
We are the same. Do you understand what I'm saying?
-
So he was saying that this woman, we are the
-
same. We are the same. We are the same. The bones
-
of my bones. You know, we have used this as a
-
marriage statement. Do you understand? This is
-
not a marriage statement. It's a response to
-
a vision. Adam saw. He said, this, we are the
-
same. Men don't want to hear that one. So this
-
was not a marriage statement. Well, you know,
-
sometimes, as I said, we can use the term in
-
marriage if we understand and speak correctly
-
about what it means. You understand? Because
-
if you talk about, even in marriage, you can
-
print John 3, verse 16. You understand? So, but
-
if you say those things, so you must have to
-
preach it correctly. You understand? You must
-
have to preach it. Look at Genesis 29. Look at
-
Genesis 29. Genesis 29 verse 14. Genesis 29 verse
-
14. And Laban said to him, Surely you are my
-
what? Oh, speak to me. Surely you are my what?
-
My bones and my flesh. And he stayed with him
-
for a month. Were they married? Oh, talk to me.
-
Were they married? So how come he would say,
-
he was my bones and my flesh? So that's, you
-
see, the word bones is talking about a different
-
thing. What he's trying to say that we are of
-
the same family. We are the same. We come from
-
the same, the same kindred. Are we together?
-
So that's what, so when Adam said, the bones
-
of my bones and the flesh of my flesh. He was
-
referring that the woman is of the same family
-
in the son. And when he was saying that he was
-
talking about the new humanity in the son, when
-
he was saying that he was talking about the family
-
of God, which he will establish, we are both
-
of us. That was what Peter was speaking about.
-
That was what Paul was saying about that we are
-
members of the same household. of the household
-
of God. That was what he was talking about. Look
-
at Judges. Judges. I'm looking for where to stop.
-
Judges. Glory to Jesus. Judges chapter 9, verse
-
1. Judges chapter 9, verse 1. Then Abimelech,
-
the son of Jeroboam, went to shake him. to his
-
mothers, please I want you to know those words,
-
to his what? Mothers, brothers, and spoke with
-
them and with all the family of the house of
-
his mother's father, saying, please speak in
-
the hearing of all the men of Shechem, all the
-
men of Shechem, which is, Better for you that
-
all 70 of the sons of Jeroboam reign over you
-
or that one reign over you. Remember that I am
-
your what? Your own flesh and bone. Is he talking
-
about marriage here? No, he was talking about
-
marriage. He was talking about we are of the
-
same. We are of the same family, the same stock.
-
The same nation. You understand? We are of the
-
same nation. We are of the same nation. 2 Samuel
2 Samuel 5 chapter mention
-
chapter 5. 2 Samuel chapter 5. 2 Samuel chapter
2 Samuel 5 chapter mention 2 Samuel 5:1
-
5 verse 1. 2 Samuel chapter 5 verse 1. Then all
-
the tribe of Israel came to David. Did you see
-
that? The entire nation. So that means a member
-
of a household, a member of the same nation,
-
a member of the same... We call bone and flesh.
-
Are we together? Are we together? Amen. Can you
-
move to 2 Samuel 19? 2 Samuel 19. Look at verse
-
9. 2 Samuel 19, verse 9. Now all the people were
-
in a dispute throughout all the tribe of Israel,
-
saying, The king... Verse 11. And Abiathar the
-
priest, saying, Speak to the elders of Judah,
-
saying, Why are you the last to bring the king
-
back to his house, since the words of all Israel
-
have come to the king to his very house? Verse
-
12. You are my brethren. I want you to know that.
-
You are my brethren. You are my what? Oh, talk
-
to me. Oh, talk to me. You are my brethren. You
-
are my bone and my flesh. That means same family.
-
Same. Understand. Why then are you the last to
-
bring back the king? Verse 13. And so to Amasa,
-
are you not my bone and my flesh? God do so to
-
me and more also. If you are not commander of
-
the army before me continually in place of Joab.
-
Did you see that? Okay, let me read the last,
-
probably last scripture because we have to close
-
it. Hallelujah. 1 Chronicles chapter 11. 1 Chronicles
1 Chronicles 11 chapter mention 1 Chronicles 11 chapter mention
-
chapter 11. 1 Chronicles 11. Are you following
-
the teaching? Okay. It says, Then all Israel
-
came together to David at Hebron, saying, Indeed,
-
we are your what? Your bone and your flesh. Now,
-
did you see that? That means it's evident that
-
bone of my bone means the same stock, the same
-
kindred, the same family, the same nation. identity,
-
and the same. Are we together? The same. So that
-
was the vision. Remember, deep means vision.
-
And so in the vision, God showed to Adam that
-
this woman will be of the same family. You will
-
not be different from her in the son. While we
-
have differences physically, because the woman
-
gives birth, you understand, and there are some
-
physical features, but that is not in the household
-
of God. In the new nation, God is building. It's
-
not different. We are not different. We have
-
one Lord, one identity, the same spirit, you
-
understand. We are the same. That was what the
-
Lord showed to Adam. And Adam saw that and he
-
exclaimed, This now is the bone of my bone and
-
the flesh of my flesh. So that was not a marriage
-
thing. It wasn't a marriage thing. Are we together?
-
It was not a marriage statement. It was an affirmation
-
that this woman is of the same stock with me.
-
We are the same. Let me show you that. I think
-
that is a good way to conclude. Because if we
-
don't conclude in the New Testament, I mean,
-
it will look somehow. Amen. So let's go to New
-
Testament. Ephesians. I think that's the best
-
way to conclude. Ephesians chapter 5. Ephesians
Ephesians 5 chapter mention Ephesians 5:30
-
chapter 5, verse 30. Good to me, verse 30. So
-
let me read from verse 29. I think it's good.
-
It says, For no one ever hated his own flesh.
-
Did you hear that? You know, sometimes when we
-
read that verse, you used to think that he's
-
talking about this one. Remember when he talked
-
to the man to love? He said, For no one ever
-
hated his own flesh, but nourished and cherished
-
it, just as the Lord does the church, that is,
-
the Lord does to his own also. Are we together?
-
For we are members of his word. Of his what?
-
Are we together? Oh, talk to me. Members of his
-
body. Of his what? Oh, are you there with me?
-
Of his flesh. And what? That's what he's saying.
-
Hebrews 2, 11 talks to us that he is not ashamed
-
to call us brethren. We are of the same. We are
-
members of his body. That was what Adam saw what
-
God is to do in Christ. That will become members
-
of his body. That's why he said the bones of
-
my bones, the flesh of my flesh. Are we together?
-
So Jesus Christ now said, for we are members
-
of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
-
Look at that one. He said, for this reason, a
-
man shall leave his father and mother. and be
-
joined to his wife, and the two shall become
-
one flesh. One flesh. Verse 32. This is a great
-
mystery, but I speak concerning who? The Christ
-
and the church. The Christ and the church. So
-
one flesh is when he was spoken about. was actually
-
pointing to what Christ will do to bring us into
-
himself, to be in the house of God, in the tabernacle
-
of God. We are the same. We are not different.
-
In the sad, we are members of his body, his flesh
-
and his bones. So bones of my bones refers to
-
God's plan for humanity. God, which actually
-
we are in the fulfillment. So you cannot be in
-
church and see a woman lower. That means something
-
is wrong with your teaching. We are the same.
-
We have the same stock. We are the same family.
-
We are members of the same family. We have the
-
same identity, you understand? No one is higher
-
in value, in significance, in purpose. So it's
-
an aberration to say... Because a woman is a
-
woman, so she cannot leave the church. Or a woman
-
is a woman, so she cannot be able to sing. Or
-
she must keep quiet in the church. Or she cannot
-
lead. Or she cannot do certain things. I mean,
-
you don't really understand the plan of God.
-
The plan of God is that all of us together, we
-
are the house of the Lord. Are we together? We
-
are the house of the Lord. Amen. So we will stop
-
here and continue with our discussion later on
-
to see how God will help us. But I want you to
-
note, because we are discussing issues around
-
woman's liberty. Now the question is, what is
-
God's original plan for the woman? The same plan
-
he has for the man. What is God's original plan
-
for the woman? The same plan he has for the man.
-
Simple and short. Remember, we are answering
-
the question now. You understand? It took us
-
a long while to answer that question. It's a
-
little bit quiet. But now we are answering, what
-
is God's plan, original plan for the woman? Is
-
the same plan that he has for the man, that together
-
they become a tabernacle for him? Hallelujah.
-
Amen. We appreciate you being here today. We
