  3. walk with God. Don't miss out. Stay with us until

  4. the end for a rewarding experience. Let's dive

  5. right in. So today we're going to be looking

  6. at the word together. disciples or being a disciple.

  7. So Matthew chapter 28 Matthew chapter 28 verse

Matthew 28 chapter mention Matthew 28:18

  8. 18 verse 18 to 20 It says, And Jesus came and

  9. spoke to them, saying, All authority has been

  10. given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore,

  11. and make disciples of all nations. baptizing

  12. them in the name of the Father, the Son, and

  13. the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all

  14. the things that I have commanded you, and lo,

  15. I am with you, even to the end of the age. Praise

  16. the Lord. Even to the end of the age. So Jesus

  17. spoke to his disciples to go and make disciples,

  18. to go and teach. to go and share concerning him

  19. baptizing people in the name of the Lord right

  20. and there are many people who even in our time

  21. or a generation that are believers or have received

  22. the word of God or yet are acting in a way that

  23. suggests to us that they are not actually believers

  24. They have received the word. It could be as a

  25. result of coming from a local church back at

  26. home. But their life currently is not showing

  27. that these people are children of God, that they

  28. have a relationship with the Lord. And sometimes

  29. you wonder why that is. Why is it that people

  30. who have believed, people who know God, yet...

  31. They show you that, or they live a life that

  32. shows that they probably do not know God or they

  33. have a lack of understanding of what has happened

  34. to them. So, and part of the reason why that

  35. is, why there is those type of abnormality is

  36. because of the place of lack of teaching. They

  37. are not properly taught concerning the things

  38. that have happened to them. Praise the Lord.

  39. They have belief, but then there is no place

  40. where there is teaching, where there is tutoring,

  41. where people come to learn about the life that

  42. they have currently, or the life that they live,

  43. or the life that they have in Christ currently.

  44. So lack of teaching is a contributing factor

  45. to these things, why people live in a certain

  46. way that suggests to us that they are not children

  47. of God, but they are children of God. They have

  48. believed God. They are saved, but their life

  49. does not show it or they don't know what to do.

  50. So Jesus tells his disciples to go. He has given

  51. them authority. They should go, therefore, make

  52. disciples of all nations. So everyone who has

  53. believed in the gospel, everyone who has believed

  54. the gospel, everyone who has come to the knowledge

  55. of God, everyone who has believed that which

  56. Christ has done for them. who has the life of

  57. Christ, should start being discipled or should

  58. start learning or should start getting taught,

  59. consigning the life that they have now. That

  60. is the thing or that is the response that a believer

  61. or somebody who is just coming to Christ should

  62. know. That is also a lifestyle that a person

  63. who is in Christ should continue to have, a place

  64. where they are constantly learning, a place where

  65. they are constantly being taught. A place where

  66. they are constantly being rich and they defy.

  67. Praise the Lord. So everybody who has believed

  68. in Christ needs to start learning. Praise the

  69. Lord. We see from verse 19, he tells them they

  70. should go and make disciples of one nation, baptizing

  71. them in the name, baptizing in the name of the

  72. Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And then

  73. he says you teach them to observe. So teaching

  74. them, giving them instructions to observe. Right?

  75. So when he says to teach them, It is an instruction

  76. to teach. It is an instruction to teach. So to

  77. teach means to instruct. To teach means to instruct.

  78. To instruct them. It means to instruct a student.

  79. It implies to instruct a student. To make somebody

  80. to learn. Praise the Lord. To make someone to

  81. learn. To make someone to learn. A student does

  82. not necessarily know why they need some knowledge,

  83. why these teachings are coming to them. But at

  84. the end of the teaching or at the end of the

  85. semester, they will come to the knowledge why

  86. this is important. Praise the Lord. So it's important

  87. for the teacher to continue to teach, to continue

  88. to give instructions, to continue to show them

  89. the way or teach them. Praise the Lord. So they

  90. don't know or understand it, but they need learning.

  91. They need to start learning. So that they don't

  92. have. They don't come to that. Place where. They

  93. have something. But yet they don't understand

  94. it. Praise the Lord. So we also see in. So like

  95. I said. The word teach means to instruct. To

  96. make someone to learn. To make somebody come

  97. to understand it. So we also have in Matthew.

    Matthew 9 chapter mention

  98. Chapter 9. Verse 14. Where we also see. a word

  99. again that tells us about disciples. Matthew

    Matthew 9:14

  100. chapter 9 verse 14. Matthew chapter 9 verse 14,

    Matthew 9:14

  101. it says, then the disciples of John came to him

  102. saying, why do we and the Pharisee fast? Then

  103. the disciples of John came to him saying, why

  104. do we and the Pharisee fast often? But your disciples

  105. do not fast. Praise the Lord. Why do we? So the

  106. word disciple here as well refers to somebody

  107. that learns from another school. These people

  108. that were disciples of John, they were people

  109. who were learning from John. They were people

  110. who had been instructed by John. Praise the Lord.

  111. They were people who had been instructed by John.

  112. So the disciple there means that someone who

  113. learns from another. These people are the learner

  114. of John. They're the ones learning from John.

  115. Praise the Lord. They are learning from John.

  116. So John there refers to, John has a people that

  117. they are being referred to him as disciples.

  118. These are people that are learning from him.

  119. These are the people that John is informing them.

  120. Praise the Lord. The knowledge they have, the

  121. understanding they have are things that they

  122. got from John. Praise the Lord. So that's why

  123. they came to Jesus and they say, we have a practice.

  124. Why is it that your disciples do not have this

  125. practice that we have? Praise the Lord. Because

  126. the healer has instructed them, has told them

  127. that they need to fast. So they have gotten information

  128. from John that they have heeded to. Praise the

  129. Lord. So there are people who are learning from

  130. John. So we also see Where also a learner is,

  131. or to learn is being referenced in Matthew chapter

    Matthew 11 chapter mention

  132. 11. Matthew chapter 11, verse 29, where Jesus

    Matthew 11:29

  133. says that you should take my yoke and learn from

  134. me. Matthew chapter 11, verse 29. He says, take

    Matthew 11:29

  135. my yoke and learn from me, for I'm gentle and

  136. lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your

  137. soul. For my yoke is easy and my burden... He's

  138. light, praise the Lord. So he says to them, they

  139. should take upon, they should take my yoke, they

  140. should take his yoke upon him and learn from

  141. him. So the word learn there means, is the word

  142. to increase one's information, right? It is the

  143. word matona, which means to increase, to increase

  144. one information or to hear or to be informed

  145. by somebody, right? To learn by the... Use by

  146. use and by practice. Praise the Lord. To learn

  147. by use or by practice. So it means a learner,

  148. to learn or to be a learner. Praise the Lord.

  149. So we see that these people that are called disciples

  150. are people that learn from another person. So

  151. we see that they learn from John. We see also

  152. that they have taken instruction from him. So

  153. John has influence on these people. John has

  154. people who are informed by him. So these are

  155. the disciples of John, people who receive information

  156. from him, who are informed by John, praise the

  157. Lord. So there are people that receive information

  158. from John. So the question that we have is, how

  159. are you informed or who informs you? Who gives

  160. you the information of your living? Praise the

  161. Lord. Who gives you the information of your living?

  162. What informs your life? What makes you do the

  163. things that you do? Something made John's disciples

  164. to be fasting. Something made them to go on and

  165. fast. But the disciples of Jesus were not fasting.

  166. And so they asked Jesus, why do we fast often

  167. and your disciples don't? So who gives you the

  168. information or who has informed your life? And

  169. that has affected the way that you live. Who

  170. has informed the principles of your life? Who

  171. has given you these principles? And then Matthew

    Matthew 10 chapter mention

  172. chapter 10, we see also Jesus' disciples. Jesus

  173. called his 12 to him and gave them authority

  174. to drive out. In pure spirit, there's a new international

  175. version. Matthew 10, verse 1. It says, when he

    Matthew 10:1

  176. has called his 12 disciples to him, he gave them

  177. power over unclean spirits to cast them out and

  178. to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of

  179. diseases. Praise the Lord. So Jesus has his own

  180. disciples. So Jesus called the 12, right? So

  181. these are Jesus' disciples. They are men who

  182. have been learning from him. So these are men

  183. who have been learning from Jesus. These are

  184. men who have been instructed by him, who he has

  185. gained influence over. So he tells them to go

  186. and do some things. Praise the Lord. So he instructs

  187. them in the way they should go. So they were

  188. not just people who were just learning from him

  189. or receiving instruction from him. But also there

  190. were people who were also learning how he interpreted

  191. or how he discussed the scriptures. Praise the

  192. Lord. There were people also who learned the

  193. pattern of how to interpret the scriptures, how

  194. to properly read the scriptures, how to give

  195. an explanation that is more greater than that

  196. which the Pharisees are able to get. So there

  197. were many things they were learning from him.

  198. Giving them instructions on the things to do.

  199. But they also observed him. They saw the things

  200. that he did. And he has influence over their

  201. lives. Such that they are able to learn how he

  202. explained the scriptures. So we see how Jesus

  203. shows. So we see Jesus explaining the scriptures

  204. as well. In Matthew chapter 7, verse 12. Matthew

    Matthew 7:12 Matthew 7:12

  205. chapter 7, verse 12. Verse 12 says that, therefore,

  206. whatever you want men to do to you, do also to

  207. them, for this is the law and the prophet. So

  208. he tells them that whatever you want men to do

  209. to you, do also to them, for this is the law

  210. and the prophet. So when he says this is the

  211. law and the prophet, what he's saying is that,

  212. he's saying that this is the... He's referring

  213. to the Old Testament of the Bible. He's referring

  214. to the Old Testament of the Bible. And then in

  215. verse 28, sorry, 28 to 29 now, it says, so that

  216. is, Jesus was teaching, so there was people who

  217. were observing what he was doing. And so verse

  218. 28 now said, so it was when Jesus has ended his

  219. saying that his people were astonished at his

  220. teaching, for he taught them as one having authority.

  221. not as described. Praise the Lord. He taught

  222. them as one, having authority, not as described.

  223. Some other versions will put this teaching as

  224. doctrine, which we know he's talking about the

  225. same thing. So the word here, teaching or doctrines,

  226. implies an explanation. So he explained the scriptures

  227. to them properly. They were astonished by his

  228. explanation. Praise the Lord. They were astonished

  229. by his explanation. So when he says the people

  230. were astonished, he was referring to the people

  231. who were astonished by his explanation of the

  232. Old Testament scriptures. Praise the Lord. The

  233. people were astonished concerning his explanation

  234. of the Old Testament scriptures. So it therefore

  235. means that Jesus has a mode of explanation of

  236. the Old Testament. And the disciples also were

  237. influenced by this. Praise the Lord. So he has

  238. a way in which he explains the Old Testament.

  239. He didn't explain it as a scribe. He didn't explain

  240. it as somebody who was without knowledge, but

  241. he explained it in a way that was more powerful

  242. than the way the scribes or the Pharisees would

  243. explain it. Praise the Lord. Jesus taught the

  244. scriptures, giving examples on how the scriptures

  245. should be properly explained. So the disciples

  246. were there, and they saw these things, and this

  247. has an influence in their life concerning how

  248. the scriptures should be explained. So his disciples

  249. were with him also, or they stayed in this particular

  250. pattern of explanation. They stay in this particular

  251. pattern of learning. So the mode of interpreting

  252. the scriptures or the mode of explanation of

  253. the scriptures, the disciples were acquainted

  254. with it because they were with Jesus. They were

  255. together with him and they learned from him.

  256. And they got all this experience from him. Praise

  257. the Lord. So when he says the law and the prophet,

  258. he's referring... to the Old Testament of the

  259. Bible. And then Luke, we also see in Luke chapter

    Luke 24 chapter mention

  260. 24, Luke chapter 24, verse 25. Luke chapter 24,

    Luke 24:25 Luke 24:25

  261. verse 25. So he said to them, and he said to

  262. them, all foolish ones shall have had to believe

  263. all that the prophet has spoken, all that the

  264. prophet has spoken. Praise the Lord. And then

  265. from verse 44 now to 45. So Luke 24, 25, verse

  266. 26. And then verse 44 to 45 now. He says, These

  267. are the words which I speak to you while I was

  268. still with you, that all these things will be

  269. fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses,

  270. and in the prophet, and in the Psalms, and in

  271. the Psalms consigning me. And he opened the understanding

  272. that they might comprehend. So we also see another

  273. pattern here that he shows. He says to them,

  274. beginning from Moses, in verse 27, beginning

  275. from Moses and all the prophet, he expounded

  276. to them the things. He responded to them in all

  277. the scriptures, the things concerning himself.

  278. So his mode of explaining the scriptures is that

  279. he goes from the beginning. So when he says beginning,

  280. beginning from Moses, he's talking about the

  281. beginning of the writing. He's talking about

  282. the first book that was written by Moses. He's

  283. talking about the first set of books that were

  284. written in the Old Testament, which were written

  285. by Moses. So he expounded to them the things

  286. consigning himself. Like I said, the disciples

  287. were there to learn some of these things that

  288. he is giving or he is expounding to them. So

  289. in verse 44, then he said to them, these are

  290. the words which I speak to you while I'm still

  291. with you, that all things must be fulfilled,

  292. which are written in the law of Moses and the

  293. prophet and the Psalms consigning me. Then you

  294. open the understanding that they may comprehend

  295. me. So he also is telling them that it's not

  296. just beginning from Moses. He also goes to the

  297. prophets. He also goes to the Psalms. He also

  298. goes to the things. He's also telling them the

  299. things which were written or which were... He

  300. also was telling them the things that were written

  301. concerning him which were found in the Psalms

  302. and the prophets concerning him. Praise the Lord.

  303. And the disciples, like I said, were... In tune,

  304. or they were learning this pattern from him.

  305. They learned this mode of explanation. Not like

  306. the scribes and the Pharisees. They learned what

  307. it means to properly interpret the scriptures.

  308. And then we also see this word, disciples, in

  309. Acts of the Apostles. So if we open to Acts of

  310. the Apostles, Acts chapter 6, Acts chapter 6,

Acts 6 chapter mention Acts 6 chapter mention

  311. Acts chapter 6, verse 1. It says, Now in those

    Acts 6:1

  312. days, when the numbers of the disciples were

  313. multiplied, there was a complaint against the

  314. Hebrew by the Hittites because the widows were

  315. neglected in the daily distribution. He said

  316. the number of the disciples were multiplied.

  317. And then we also see the same thing in Acts chapter

    Acts 11 chapter mention

  318. 11. Acts chapter 11 verse 26. Acts chapter 11

    Acts 11:26 Acts 11:26

  319. verse 26. Then when he found him, he brought

  320. him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year

  321. they assembled in the church and taught a great

  322. many people. And the disciples were called Christians

  323. in Antioch. The first called Christians in Antioch.

  324. Acts chapter 14 verse 22. Acts chapter 14 verse

    Acts 14:22 Acts 14:22

  325. 22. Strengthening the souls of the disciples,

  326. exalting them. to continue in faith and saying,

  327. we must through many tribulations enter the kingdom

  328. of God. And then Acts chapter 2, verse 41 and

    Acts 2:41

  329. 42. Verse 41 says, And those who gladly received

  330. his word were baptized, and that day about 3

  331. ,000 souls were added to them. And they continue

  332. steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and in

  333. fellowship and in the breaking of bread and in

  334. prayers. They continue steadfastly in the apostles'

  335. doctrine and in the breaking of bread and in

  336. prayers. Praise the Lord. So the word continue

  337. here implies that they stayed in the apostles'

  338. doctrine. They stayed in something that has been

  339. said or done. The apostles' doctrine is what

  340. has been said. or what has been done, right?

  341. So it's something that is there. That is, the

  342. apostles taught from the scriptures, right? So

  343. they continued in the pattern of the apostles,

  344. that the apostles taught the scriptures, taught

  345. from the scriptures in a manner that Jesus has

  346. done to them, right? And instructed them to do

  347. so. So the apostles have learned from Jesus,

  348. right? And they are teaching these people and

  349. these people are continuing in the same pattern.

  350. of teaching the scriptures in a manner that Jesus

  351. has taught to them, even as he has instructed

  352. them to. So back to Matthew chapter 28, where

    Matthew 28 chapter mention

  353. he gives them the instructions to preach the

  354. word. So we also know that, you also should know

  355. that the disciples were the people that Jesus

  356. was speaking to here. So they are people that

  357. they already have taught. They were people that...

  358. He had taught, right? There were people that

  359. have learned from him. There are people that

  360. have received a pattern from him on how they

  361. should teach or how they should give instruction

  362. or how they should go, right? There are people

  363. that were already taught by him. They have received

  364. this instruction. They have understood how Jesus

  365. taught. They have understood Jesus' mode of teaching

  366. or explaining the scriptures. They have also

  367. understood Jesus' way of living. Praise the Lord.

  368. So there are people that have learned from him.

  369. There are people that have received from him.

  370. There are people that are well -equipped because

  371. he was with them for that long. Praise the Lord.

  372. So these were the audience, or these are the

  373. people that he was speaking to. When he tells

  374. them that they should go and teach, he tells

  375. them to go and teach all the nation. Praise the

  376. Lord. So they were to teach, they were to make

  377. disciples of all the nation. Praise the Lord.

  378. And making disciples is an important fact. That

  379. was what we saw from the book of Acts. It's an

  380. important theme of the church. There were people

  381. who were making disciples. They were going out

  382. there to make disciples. Praise the Lord. So

  383. these people have been influenced by God, by

  384. Jesus. These disciples have been influenced by

  385. him. So they can go out and make disciples. Praise

  386. the Lord. They know how to interpret the scriptures.

  387. They know how to, from the beginning. From the

  388. book of Moses or from the beginning. And in the

  389. prophet, explain the things concerning Christ.

  390. So they have this pattern already. They have

  391. this understanding already. And they also have

  392. a lifestyle. They have also seen the way Jesus

  393. has lived his life. And they also are living

  394. in a certain way. There are people who have been

  395. informed by God. Praise the Lord. They themselves

  396. have received information. So the pattern of

  397. their lives is... like those who have been informed

  398. by God. So Jesus is the influence of their life.

  399. Praise the Lord. He has influenced how they understand

  400. the scriptures. He has influenced how they study

  401. the scriptures. He has influenced how they interpret

  402. the scriptures or how they explain the scriptures.

  403. He has influenced their life that they no longer

  404. are fishermen or they are no longer people who

  405. were doing so many other things before. But now

  406. their concentration now is to teach the world,

  407. to make disciples of one nation. Praise the Lord.

  408. To make disciples of one nation. So people who

  409. have believed, like I said from the beginning,

  410. people who have believed should start learning.

  411. Praise the Lord. People who have believed should

  412. start learning. And what it is that they should

  413. start learning? They should start learning the

  414. way... They should start learning the way of

  415. the scriptures. They should start learning how

  416. to understand the scriptures. They should start

  417. learning their new realities in Christ. Praise

  418. the Lord. So that just like the way Jesus had

  419. influence on his disciples, just like the way

  420. he had influence upon them, they also will be

  421. influenced by him. Praise the Lord. So that they

  422. also will be influenced by him. So that their

  423. lifestyle will no longer be in contradiction

  424. to the things that they have believed. So that

  425. they are able to also from beginning from Moses

  426. and all the prophets, they will also know the

  427. things, they will also understand the things

  428. consigned into Christ. Praise the Lord. They

  429. will also know the things consigned into Christ.

  430. They will understand their new reality in Christ.

  431. They will know that their lifestyle is ought

  432. to be in a particular way because they have stayed

  433. in the place of learning. So without this place

  434. where people are disciples or stay being disciples

  435. through the world and through the men of God

  436. that are around, they are not able to live the

  437. life they are supposed to live. They are not

  438. able to properly understand the things of God.

  439. Praise the Lord. They are not able to know their

  440. new realities or the reality that they live in

  441. right now. And they will continue to live. in

  442. contradiction of the things that they have been

  443. saved from. Praise the Lord. So everybody that

  444. has belief needs to start learning the scriptures

  445. and their new realities and also be informed

  446. by God or be informed by Christ. Praise the Lord.

  447. So we see our new realities, right? The newness

  448. of life or the reality that a believer has. Romans

Romans 6 chapter mention Romans 6:4–7

  450. verse 4 to 7 he says that therefore we are buried

  451. with him through baptism into death that just

  452. as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory

  453. of the father even so we also shall walk in unity

  454. of life if we have been united together in the

  455. likeness of his death certainly we are also We

  456. shall also be in the likeness of his resurrection,

  457. knowing this, that our old man was crucified

  458. with him, that the body of sin might be done

  459. away with, that we should no longer be slaves

  460. to sin. For he who died is free from sin. Praise

  461. the Lord. So we also see, like I said, that the

  462. disciples have been informed by God, right? They

  463. have been informed by Christ in their path. of

  464. living in the way that they have lived their

  465. life so we also as as people need to also continue

  466. to get to continue to be acquainted with the

  467. life that we have right and part of the new life

  468. that we or part of the new things that we have

  469. is our realities in christ that we are new creation

  470. that we are people who have been free from the

  471. power of sin and the power of death we have been

  472. free from we have been we have been people who

  473. are set to live In the newness of life. Or to

  474. walk in the newness of life. Praise the Lord.

  476. chapter 2. Verse 20. If I have been crucified

  477. with Christ. It is no longer I who live. But

  478. Christ who lives in me. And the life I live now.

  479. In the flesh. I live by faith in the son of God.

  480. Who loved me. And gave himself for me. He said,

  481. I've been crucified with Christ. It is no longer

  482. I who live, but Christ lives in me. And the life

  483. which I live now, I live in him. Sorry, the life

  484. that I live, I no longer live. Sorry, I've been

  485. crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who

  486. live, but Christ lives in me. And the life which

  487. I live now in the flesh, I live by the faith

  488. in the Son of God who loved me and died for me.

  489. Praise the Lord. I live in the life that Christ

  490. has in me. He's been saying that you are in Christ,

  491. right? I live in what he has done for me. I live

  492. in the reality of that which God has done for

  493. me. I live in a way or in a person that shows

  494. what Christ has done for me. And then chapter

  495. 3, chapter 3 from verse 27 to 29. He said, for

  496. as many as were baptized unto Christ have put

  497. on Christ. Therefore, there is neither Jews nor

  498. Greek. There is neither slave nor free. There

  499. is neither male or female. For you are all one

  500. in Christ Jesus. Praise the Lord. You are all

  501. one in Christ Jesus. It means that we have put

  502. on a new man. We have put on Christ. The reality

  503. that we have now is that we have put on Christ.

  504. Praise the Lord. It's a depiction of being in

  505. sync together with him. It's a depiction of being

  506. together with him, to be in Christ, to be closer

  507. in oneness with him. Praise the Lord. Some illustration

  508. we say to be to be. Clothed together with him.

  509. Right. To be one with him. So that is the reality

  510. of the man that is in Christ. Romans. That is

  511. the reality of a man that is in Christ. So in

  512. doing all of these things, in knowing our realities,

  513. in understanding our realities. Then we are informed

  514. by him. We are informed by him. And we continue

  515. to stay informed by him. Romans chapter 12. Romans

Romans 12 chapter mention Romans 12 chapter mention

  516. chapter 12. Romans chapter 12. Romans chapter

Romans 12 chapter mention Romans 12 chapter mention

  517. 12. your body a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable

  518. to God, which is your reasonable service. He

  519. said, do not be conformed to this world, but

  520. be transformed by the renewal of your mind that

  521. you may prove what is that good and acceptable

  522. and perfect will of God. So he tells us that

  523. we should present It tells us that you should

  524. present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy

  525. and acceptable unto God. So the presentation

  526. of our bodies, right, holy and acceptable to

  527. God is only impossible because we are in Christ.

  528. Praise the Lord. It's only impossible because

  529. we are in Christ. There's a man in Christ that

  530. can present his body a living sacrifice. Praise

  531. the Lord. It's being in Christ that gives us

  532. the ability or the enablement to present ourselves.

  533. So it is only impossible because we're in Christ

  534. that we're able to present our members to him

  535. a living sacrifice. It is only because of the

  536. realities of what Christ has done. that we're

  537. able to present our members a living sacrifice

  538. to him. Praise the Lord. And he tells us that

  539. do not be conformed. So even the enablement not

  540. to be conformed is also as a result of the realities

  541. that we have in Christ. The strength or the ability

  542. to not be conformed is only impossible because

  543. of what we have in Christ or the reality that

  544. we have in Christ. Praise the Lord. That we are

  545. together with him and that we are in Christ is

  546. the only advantage or the ability that is given

  547. to us to be able to give us the strength not

  548. to be conformed. Praise the Lord. So the devil

  549. knows that there is nothing he can do about our

  550. salvation. There is nothing that he can do about

  551. what has happened to us. But one of the things

  552. he will do is not to want to us, he wants to

  553. influence us. So he tells us not to be conformed.

  554. So he knows that he would like us to think of

  555. something else. He would want us to be conformed

  556. to a particular image. He would want us not to

  557. live that life that God intends for us. He would

  558. want to inflect that place where he wants us

  559. to live a life that is not what God intends for

  560. us to live. Praise the Lord. He knows there is

  561. nothing he can do about our salvation. He wants

  562. us to conform to something else. He wants us

  563. to conform to something else. Praise the Lord.

  564. So to conform, that is, it means that one's mind

  565. or character, it changes to another, right? Or

  566. to fashion oneself according to something else

  567. or according to something or to a particular

  568. thing. Praise the Lord. To fashion oneself according

  569. to something else, according to a particular

  570. pattern, according to that which is not in accordance

  571. to the reality of the person. Praise the Lord.

  572. To be conformed is for one's mind or character

  573. to go a different pattern, to be fashioned to

  574. be different than that which you ought to be.

  575. Praise the Lord. To that which you ought to be.

  576. So he wants believers to want something else

  577. or to want something more, if you like. He's

  578. saying, okay, maybe this thing that you have

  579. is not sufficient enough. Maybe you should do

  580. something else. Praise the Lord. You should conform

  581. to something else. You should conform to something

  582. else. Or you need more things. You need more

  583. things to your salvation. You need something

  584. else to your salvation. You need to explore some

  585. other ways. Those are some of the suggestions

  586. that he will give to us. Praise the Lord. He

  587. wants you to believe that you need something

  588. else than that which Christ has given you, that

  589. you need something more. But our reality in Christ

  590. is enough. That which we have in Christ is enough.

  591. There's nothing more that you're looking for.

  592. Praise the Lord. Somebody once said that you

  593. know people that that god has given some people

  594. good families and maybe good husband or wife

  595. but they will decide that they want something

  596. they want to do something more right and at the

  597. end of the day they are going to lose that which

  598. they already have that was good or they're going

  599. to lose that which was valuable to them praise

  600. the lord so he wants to suggest to us that we

  601. need something more We need something more. So

  602. the writer of Romans tells us that we should

  603. not be conformed to these things, right? The

  604. reason why he tells, he said, do not be conformed,

  605. right? You do not be conformed because he knows

  606. that we are people who can be influenced. Praise

  607. the Lord. We are people who can be influenced.

  608. We are people who can be informed. We are people

  609. who can be, who can learn something, right? We

  610. are people that can learn. We can be conformed

  611. to something. But he wants God to influence us.

  612. That is why he says that you should be transformed

  613. by the renewal of your mind. So he wants the

  614. influence of God upon our lives, upon our daily

  615. lives. That's why he says that you should be

  616. transformed by the renewal of your mind. I was

  617. sharing with somebody and said that if you see

  618. somebody who is struggling, let's say a good

  619. example is that they have like the temptations

  620. and they are struggling with either a sexual

  621. scene or addiction online pornography and stuff

  622. it doesn't say on their face right it doesn't

  623. it doesn't say you don't you don't dictate it

  624. by looking at them praise the lord but it is

  625. something that they are going through except

  626. they open their mouth or you see it that's when

  627. you will know that something is going on here

  628. Praise the Lord. And the strength that we have

  629. is not by either the physical strength that you

  630. have, but by the information that you have gathered

  631. or what you are conformed to or what you have

  632. allowed to influence your life. What you have

  633. allowed to take hold of your life or to inform

  634. you or to give you the information that you need.

  635. Praise the Lord. To give you the information

  636. that you need. He tells us that we should renew.

  637. our mind, that we may prove that which is good

  638. and perfect, that we may prove that which is

  639. good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

  640. He won the influence of God upon our lives to

  641. stay in the reality of what we have, to stay

  642. in the reality of what God has given us, what

  643. we have in Christ. And then Psalm 1 tells us,

  644. Someone tells us that it's a blessed man who

  645. walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor

  646. stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat

  647. of discomfort. He said, but his delight is in

  648. the law of the Lord, and he meditates day and

  649. night. He said, he shall be like a tree planted

  650. by rivers of water that brings forth its fruit

  651. in season, whose leaves shall not wither. Whatever

  652. he does shall prosper. He said, but the ungodly

  653. are not so. They are like shafts that the wind

  654. blows away. Therefore, the ungodly shall not

  655. stand in judgment, nor sinners in the congregation

  656. of the righteous. But the Lord knows the ways

  657. of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly

  658. shall perish. Praise the Lord. It tells us that

  659. blessed is that man, right, who does not walk

  660. in the counsel of the ungodly, who is not influenced

  661. by evil, who is not influenced by... evil things.

  662. But he said, but his delight is in the law of

  663. the Lord. That is, to a man who has decided that

  664. his life, his joy and his delight is to do the

  665. things of God. To walk in the reality that he

  666. has in God. He says, to delight in the law of

  667. the Lord and to meditate on it day and night.

  668. So in doing so, he says, he is like a tree planted

  669. by He's like a tree planted by rivers of water.

  670. Because of the influence of the world, because

  671. of the influence of the delights that he has

  672. in the world, because of the influence of thinking

  673. about the things of God, there is growth, there

  674. is nourishment, there is fruitfulness in the

  675. life of such an individual because he has allowed

  676. the influence. He has allowed himself to find

  677. the light in the law of the Lord, to meditate

  678. on it day and night, right? He says it's like

  679. three planted by rivers of water. Because of

  680. that which he has chosen to do, right, there's

  681. prosperity around him. There's growth, right?

  682. Because of that which he's taking in, which he

  683. allows himself to take in, something comes out,

  684. and that is fruitfulness. That is fruitfulness.

  685. That is that there is fruit that is seen. He

  686. shall not wither. Praise the Lord. When the storms

  687. of life or when challenges come, he's able to

  688. stand. He's able to find encouragement because

  689. he has allowed the Lord to be his refuge. He's

  690. allowed the Lord to be his dwelling place, his

  691. sacred place, or his place where he finds delight.

  692. Praise the Lord. So he tells us not to be transformed

  693. by the renewal of our mind, to be influenced

  694. by God, to allow our minds to be transformed

  695. and be renewed by God. Praise the Lord. So the

  696. same way that Jesus has influence, the same way

  697. as he had influence in his disciples, in the

  698. things, in the way that they have lived their

  699. life. In the way that we are able to understand

  700. the scriptures. In the same way that he wants

  701. us to be able to learn. To be able to continue

  702. to grow. To be able to continue to learn from

  703. him. Paul will tell us to imitate him even as

  704. he imitates Christ. Telling us to imitate Christ

  705. in essence. So to live our lives like him. Praise

  706. the Lord. So, like I said, the reason why we

  707. have the abnormality of someone being a believer

  708. and yet they are not able to, they are not living

  709. as such is because there is a place where learning

  710. was not effective or learning was not initiated

  711. or continual learning was not... was not going

  712. on. Praise the Lord. So as a result of learning,

  713. we're able to be influenced by him and continue

  714. to be influenced by him. Praise the Lord. Amen.
