Welcome to NECF. We're thrilled you're here.
-
Make sure to stay with us till the end, where
-
we'll share some great resources to deepen your
-
faith. Now, let's dive into this week's sermon.
-
It's a beautiful morning, and I'm so excited
-
once again to be in this place. Yesterday was
-
a great moment for us, and I believe once again
-
God will continue in what he has been doing in
-
our midst. You know, we go gradually. The way
-
God exposes us to his truth is step by step.
-
Amen. Step by step, gradually. You know, Isaiah
-
28. Verse 10. Isaiah 28. Verse 10 says, he tells
-
us everything. Yes, give me the NLT. Give me
-
the NLT. I love the way the NLT put it. So he
-
tells us everything over and over. One line at
-
a time. One line at a time. A little here and
-
a little there. See, this is how. You know, truth
-
is unveiled gradually, little by little, here
-
and there. And then before we know it, we see
-
the insight that comes from God's word. So what
-
I want you to do is that you should be encouraged
-
to follow every single thing that is done in
-
this place. All right? Just know that this meeting
-
is arranged specifically for you. This meeting
-
is for you, and it's not for anybody. Just have
-
this kind of mindset that this meeting is for
-
you. Even if there's nobody here and I'm the
-
only one here, I'm going to enjoy what God is
-
doing. God is taking this moment to invest into
-
my life because he has a plan for my life. So
-
from what we will be doing and everything that
-
every other speaker will be coming to lead us,
-
it is a build -up on every aspect of what God...
-
We want us to see in this season. So please be
-
very conscious. And see how it links. See how
-
it links. See how it's connected. Because step
-
by step. Little by little. We see the build up
-
of what God is doing for us. And there is an
-
admonition. Paul gave to Timothy. In 2 Timothy
2 Timothy 3 chapter mention
-
chapter 3. From verse 10. 2 Timothy chapter 3.
2 Timothy 3 chapter mention
-
From verse 10. He says but you. You have carefully
-
followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose,
-
faith, long -suffering, love, perseverance, persecutions,
-
afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch,
-
at Iconium, at Lystra. What persecutions I endured,
-
and out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yes.
-
and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus
-
will suffer persecution. But evil men and impostors
-
will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being
-
deceived. This is what is happening. But then
-
for you, that is for us individually here, it
-
says, but you must continue in the things which
-
you have learned. and being assured of knowing
-
from whom you have learned them. How we are learning
-
in this place will be productive. We'll see the
-
fruitfulness in your life is when you continue,
-
that is when you practice what you learn in this
-
place. So whatever thing that will be coming
-
to us and coming for us, let our mindset be that
-
we are looking at how we can apply, where we
-
can obey. But continue, you must continue in
-
things which you have learned and been assured
-
of knowing from whom you have learned them. And
-
that from childhood, you have known the holy
-
scriptures. From childhood, from when you were
-
born again, you've been exposed to God's word,
-
which are able to make you wise for salvation
-
through faith, which is in Christ Jesus. All
-
scripture. That is all scripture is given by
-
inspiration of God. And it is profitable, meaning
-
that it is advantageous, meaning that it is useful.
-
It is important for doctrine. Doctrine here means
-
teaching. It is important. The scripture is a
-
material by which we receive instruction for
-
life. So the scripture. is advantage, is profitable,
-
is advantageous for doctrine, for reproof, for
-
correction, for instruction in righteousness.
-
And this is a goal that the man of God may be
-
complete, thoroughly equipped by, equipped for
-
every good work. So the goal is for our equipping.
-
that we will be made ready for every good work.
-
So the intention is that God will help us to
-
be equipped for the work that he has for us.
-
And moving down to chapter 4, he continued by
-
saying, I charge you therefore before God and
-
the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living
-
and the dead at his appearance. At his kingdom.
-
Preach the word. Be ready in season and out of
-
season. Convince, rebuke, exhort. With all longsuffering
-
and teaching. Verse 3. For time will come when
-
they will not endure sound doctrine. People will
-
not be willing to sit for a long time. Enduring
-
has to do with making yourself to be under the
-
authority of the word of God. Time is coming
-
that many will not endure, many will not give
-
themselves up to the instruction that comes from
-
God's word. For the time will come when they
-
will not endure sound doctrine, but according
-
to their own desires, because they have itching
-
ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers,
-
and they will turn their ears away from truth
-
and be torn aside to fables. But you, Be watchful
-
in all things. Endure afflictions. Do the work
-
of an evangelist and fulfill your ministry. Hallelujah.
-
So what I want to encourage us is to endure every
-
single thing. It's not easy. Training is not
-
an easy task. Discipline is not easy. It's not
-
easy for the body. But when we look at the goal
-
that it will achieve in our lives, it will motivate
-
us to do what? To make ourselves readily available
-
under the instruction of God's word so that we
-
will be built up. So my desire is that our hearts
-
will be here, our mind will be here, and our
-
attention will be fixed on seeing what God will
-
say. Hallelujah. That we will be fixed, fixated
-
on seeing. Our desire is to see. what God will
-
say, and then what we will do from what God will
-
say. Hallelujah. Now let's get to our scripture,
-
our key scripture for this conference that we've
-
been looking at since yesterday. Manifesting
-
the kingdom of God. Matthew chapter 16. Matthew
Matthew 16 chapter mention Matthew 16 chapter mention
-
chapter 16. From what's starting. When Jesus
-
came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, he
-
asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that
-
I, the Son of Man, am? So they said some say
-
John the Baptist, some Elijah, others Jeremiah,
-
or one of the prophets. He said to them, But
-
who do you say that I am? Simon Peter answered
-
and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the
-
living God. Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed
-
are you, Simon Barjona, for flesh and blood has
-
not revealed this to you, but my Father who is
-
where? Who is in heaven. And I say to you that
-
you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build
-
my church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail
-
against it. And I will give you the keys of the
-
kingdom of heaven. And whatever you bind on earth
-
will be bound in heaven. And whatever you lose
-
on earth will be loosed in heaven. Hallelujah.
-
And we're able to go through, you know, the preliminary
-
verses. We look at the context. And then we say
-
that, you know, the disciples were sent out by
-
Jesus Christ to go out and preach the gospel.
-
And then when they came back, Jesus was asking
-
them of their reports. Of course, they came back
-
very joyful, you know, seeing what God has worked
-
by their hands. They went to preach concerning
-
the kingdom. They went to proclaim the kingdom.
-
And then signs and wonders were done by them.
-
Because Jesus Christ has authorized them, has
-
given them power, has given them authority. They
-
cast out devils, they heal, they perform wonderful
-
miracles, accompanying, you know, the preaching
-
of the kingdom, preaching of the message of the
-
kingdom. And we saw from the text we read yesterday
-
that, you know, there were different accounts.
-
People have different perception. People have
-
different, you know. about who Jesus is. And
-
we established that the idea about who Jesus
-
Christ is is founded on ignorance, is founded
-
on unbelief. And we say that for us to be effective
-
in the work of ministry, it is important that
-
our theology about Jesus Christ be accurate because
-
Jesus Christ shifted from what they heard from
-
the people, from the crowd, to what they themselves.
-
Say about the Messiah. About the son of man.
-
About Jesus Christ. Which shows to us the importance
-
of. Understanding. The importance of understanding.
-
Who God is. The importance of understanding.
-
What the message is. And we say that the message
-
is a person. The message is Jesus Christ. And
-
it is important for us. To comprehend. To understand.
-
To know who Jesus is. To have a revelation. We
-
say revelation of Christ. is crucial, is important,
-
is vital to doing the work of ministry. And our
-
preparation is knowing God, having a revelation
-
of who Jesus is so that we can be able to preach
-
him accurately. And we see, you know, the instance
-
where Peter made a proclamation. you know, about
-
who Jesus is. And we establish also that Peter's
-
revelation of Jesus Christ was founded on the
-
writings of the prophets, which means that he
-
believed on the prophetic writings of, you know,
-
the scriptures concerning who Jesus is. And this
-
is what we define as revelation. From this revelation,
-
you know, He professed or he confessed who Jesus
-
is. So we're going to continue from verse 18.
-
From verse 18 of this text. Let me read verse
-
17, then I will go down to verse 18. Jesus answered
-
and said to him, Blessed are you, Simon Barjona,
-
for flesh and blood, which means that this understanding
-
is not coming from human point of view. Flesh
-
and blood has not revealed this to you, but my
-
Father who is in heaven. So what God does to
-
us is that he opens us to his word. That is what
-
God does to us, give us revelation. And the revelation
-
which God will give us is in the word of God,
-
is in the scriptures. And I also say to you that
-
you are Peter. And on this rock, I will build
-
my church. And the gates of Hades shall not prevail
-
against it. On this rock, verse 18. And I also
-
say to you that you are Peter. And on this rock,
-
I will build my church. And the gates of Hades
-
shall not prevail against it. If you are an intelligent
-
reader of the text. I think a question should
-
rise in your heart. What is this rock? Because,
-
you know, Jesus Christ was not talking about,
-
was not teaching about the types of rocks. Right?
-
The conversation in this text is not geology
-
or geography or construction. In a way, they
-
are building a house, so Jesus is explaining
-
construction, engineering, or whatever. Where
-
will Jesus, or what will Jesus mean by the rock?
-
The rock. What did Jesus mean when he said this
-
rock? Was he pointing at a rock? Was he pointing
-
at a rock? When he said this rock, was there
-
a rock there that Jesus pointed at? What is this
-
rock? So it is important. Jesus is not speaking
-
out of point. Amen. He's not just, you know,
-
he's talking, he's on a conversation and then
-
lo and behold, he switches to another entirely
-
not. This consistency in what Jesus is saying
-
and it's left for us to investigate, to understand
-
what is this rock that Jesus is explaining? What
-
is the implication of the rock that Jesus? He's
-
explaining. And that is what I trust God will
-
help us to see and to establish as we go through
-
what we'll be doing today. Hallelujah. So, what
-
is this rock? What is the church that Jesus is
-
referring to? What is the church which Jesus
-
is referring to in this particular verse? Now,
-
the Roman Catholic Church, you know what the
-
Roman Catholic Church is? The global Roman Catholic
-
Church holds the assertion that the Apostle Peter
-
is the rock. Not only them, but some, of course,
-
some scholars also, you know, hold the assertion
-
that the Apostle Peter is a rock upon which the
-
church is built. Because if you look at the verse,
-
it seems that that's what he's saying. And I
-
also say to you that you are Peter. And on this
-
rock, I will build my church and the gates of
-
Hades shall not prevail against it. Of course,
-
we know that there's no scripture that is of
-
private interpretation. If we must interpret
-
this text as Jesus is referring to Peter as the
-
rock, then we should be able to find collaborative
-
scriptures that will help us in establishing
-
this particular idea. So, they also hold that
-
the church that Jesus Christ is referring to
-
here is the Roman Catholic Church and that Apostle
-
Peter is the rock upon which the church is built.
-
Therefore, he is the first pope. He is the pope
-
of the church. Now, how true is this assertion?
-
Because our basic knowledge of scriptures will
-
help us to understand that Peter had a wife,
-
right? He was married. He had a family. And then
-
the Pope of today does not marry. So when we
-
try to, I mean, it becomes difficult to establish
-
this fact. But let's go deeper and we'll see.
-
Now it is important to note that the background.
-
we've said this time and time and time immemorial,
-
that the background of everything that Jesus
-
would do, the background of everything that Jesus
-
did while he was on earth, the background, the
-
context of everything Jesus taught while he was
-
on earth is from the writings of Moses, from
-
the Psalms, and from the prophets. That is to
-
say that there's nothing that Jesus Christ do
-
that is from the blues. Including the words he
-
speak. Including the actions he took. Including
-
what he accomplished. It's from what? It's from
-
the writings of Moses. And what are the writings
-
of Moses? The first five books of the Bible.
-
And then the Psalms and the prophets. Luke chapter
-
24 verse 44. Luke 24 verse 44. Then he said to
-
them, these are the words which I spoke to you
-
while I was still with you. The words Jesus spoke
-
to them. And what are the words Jesus was speaking
-
to them? That all things must be fulfilled which
-
were written in the law of Moses and the prophets
-
and the Psalms concerning me. So Jesus Christ
-
spoke to them or he taught them The generality
-
of all that Jesus taught them was from the writings
-
of Moses, was from what the prophets have prophesied
-
about, and from what the Psalms have written
-
concerning Jesus. Matthew 5, verse 17, we see
-
where Jesus Christ will say that he has not come
-
to destroy the law. Do not think that I have
-
come to destroy the law. All the prophets, that
-
is, Jesus Christ did not come to condemn or to
-
do away with what the laws, the laws of Moses,
-
what Moses have written, what the prophets have
-
said. I did not come to destroy, but to do what?
-
But to accomplish them, to fulfill them. Because
-
these were promises, these were prophecies. So
-
my coming... Is to bring toward to accomplishment.
-
What all the prophets have said. Verse 18. For
-
as surely I say to you. Till heaven and earth
-
pass away. One dot. Or one little. Or one little.
-
Will by no means pass. From the law. Till all
-
is what. Till all is fulfilled. So Jesus Christ
-
was to fulfill what has been said or what has
-
been written. So if Jesus preaches a message
-
apart from that of the prophets, he wouldn't
-
be the Christ. If Jesus Christ would teach anything
-
that is outside the scriptures, if Jesus Christ
-
would say any word that is outside the scriptures,
-
then he would not be the Messiah. Because the
-
writings in the Old Testament were actually...
-
The words of Jesus. The prophets were able to
-
see by divine inspiration what Jesus will do.
-
So specifically, the prophets and Moses were
-
writing the words of Jesus Christ. They were
-
writing what Jesus will come to do. So therefore,
-
whatever Jesus will say, the vocabulary and the
-
choice of words, that Jesus will use in his ministry,
-
the language, the verbiage by which Jesus will
-
use in his teachings will definitely be from
-
where? From what the prophets have said. From
-
what Moses have written. From what we will see
-
in the Holy Scripture. His words must be from
-
what we call the Old Testament Scripture. From
-
Genesis to Malachi. So the rock and the church
-
that Jesus Christ will be speaking, because remember
-
I said that Jesus Christ asked a question. He
-
said, who do men say I am? And we agree or we
-
saw that the question that Jesus Christ was asking
-
was not out of what? Was not out of identity
-
crisis, right? He was not trying to know from
-
them, but the goal of his question is to what?
-
Is to teach. Hallelujah. The goal of his question
-
is what? Is for teaching. It's to explain a truth.
-
It's to bring light to a reality, to a truth.
-
So the rock and the church that Jesus will speak
-
about, the rock and the church that Jesus Christ
-
will teach about, will speak about, or will speak
-
of must be those spoken or that which was spoken
-
of by the prophets. All right? That which was
-
spoken of by the prophets, that which was spoken
-
of, was written by Moses, was taught by Moses
-
and in the Psalms. Jesus only came to do what?
-
To fulfill and not to establish something new.
-
So if we see Jesus Christ making reference to
-
something, it must be something that has already
-
been what? Been prophesied or has been said by
-
the prophets. So, most of what Jesus said in
-
the four gospels, you know, will be fulfilled
-
in his resurrection. I want you to note this
-
very, very well. Because Jesus says, upon this
-
rock, I will build, which means that upon this
-
rock, he has not built yet, right? It's a promise.
-
So, while Jesus was on earth, before dying, Most
-
of the things he taught were promises. They were
-
not fulfilled before his death, his burial, and
-
his resurrection. So, most of what Jesus would
-
say in the four gospels was not fulfilled there
-
when he was saying them. Which means that much
-
of Jesus' sermon in the four gospels will be
-
promises to be fulfilled when? When will these
-
promises be fulfilled? In his resurrection, right?
-
In his resurrection. So that is a very important
-
truth we should note. So, for example, now the
-
Sermon on the Mount. Let's go to the Sermon on
-
the Mount and see the teachings he did before
-
he died and rose again. Matthew chapter 5 from
Matthew 5 chapter mention
-
verse 1. And seeing the multitude. He went up
-
on a mountain, and when he was seated, his disciples
-
came to him. And then he opened his mouth and
-
taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in
-
spirit, for theirs is a kingdom of heaven. How
-
will the kingdom of heaven be established? In
-
his resurrection. All right? So what Jesus Christ
-
will be teaching here will actually be what will
-
be established at his resurrection. He will say,
-
What is the source of comfort of the believer?
-
Who comforts the believer? The Holy Spirit. So
-
by this time, has the Holy Spirit been given?
-
It has not been given. Why? Because he has not
-
yet died. He has not died. He has not been raised
-
from the dead yet. He has not been taken up to
-
glory yet. Because we saw that the condition
-
for the outpouring of the Spirit of God is that
-
Jesus will be taken away, that Jesus will be
-
gone to heaven. So it is important to note that.
-
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit
-
the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst
-
for righteousness. For they shall be filled.
-
Blessed are the merciful. For they shall obtain
-
mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart. For they
-
shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers. For
-
they shall be called the sons of God. How will
-
men be called the sons of God? Men will be called
-
the sons of God. The Bible will say that as many
-
as did receive him, right? He gave them the ability.
-
As many as did believe. Receiving him means believing
-
in what he has, he will do, believing in what
-
he has done. That is how they will become the
-
sons of God. From the viewpoint of his resurrection.
-
Alright? So blessed are those who are persecuted
-
for righteousness' sake. For theirs is the kingdom
-
of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and
-
persecute you and say all kinds of evil against
-
you, falsely for my sake. Rejoice and exceedingly
-
glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for
-
they persecuted the prophets who were before
-
you. So all these things, the ability, right,
-
to become all. That has been taught in these
-
scriptures. If you go on and on. We see Jesus
-
Christ teaching several things. You know. We
-
see where Jesus Christ is talking about. Love
-
for your enemies. Like in verse 43. It says you
-
have heard that it was said. You shall love your
-
neighbor. And hate your enemy. That is what the
-
law says. But I say to you. Love your enemies.
-
Bless those who curse you. Do good to those who
-
hate you. And pray for those who spitefully use
-
you and persecute you. That you may be the sons
-
of your father in heaven. For he makes his son
-
to rise on the evil and on the good. And send
-
rain on the just and on the unjust. It takes
-
only a man that has been filled by the spirit.
-
That can what? That can express this kind of
-
life. I believe so much that those who were listening
-
to him did not have the ability to what? To live
-
out these things that Jesus was saying. Amen?
-
Imagine someone that is not born again and I
-
tell him to love his enemies. How is he going
-
to do it? How is he going to do it? So, most
-
of Jesus' teachings and what he taught were what?
-
Were what will be fulfilled or what will be accomplished
-
at his word, at his resurrection. So, Matthew
-
16, verse 18 will also be similar, right? It
-
will be what will be accomplished when? At his
-
resurrection. All his miracles, not only teachings,
-
but even the miracles, the sermons, and the parables
-
are about his death, his burial, and his resurrection.
-
It's about the kingdom. Hallelujah. The parables
-
are not just for fun. It's not comedy. They are
-
to teach about what he will do at his death,
-
his burial, and his resurrection. They are to
-
proclaim, to help in bringing about the knowledge
-
of what he will do. You know, in his death, his
-
burial, and his resurrection. Let's look at one
-
of his miracles. Let's look at one of his miracles.
-
The first miracle he did. Which was the first
-
miracle recorded by Jesus? Turn your water into
-
chapter 2. From verse 1 to 10. We'll read from
-
verse 1 to 10. On the third day, there was a
-
wedding in Cana of Galilee. And the mother of
-
Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and his disciples
-
were invited to the wedding. And when they ran
-
out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to him,
-
they have no wine. Okay? She came to Jesus and
-
said, see. Their wine has finished. There's a
-
debate. Some say it's alcohol. Some say it's
-
not alcohol. But let's just know that there's
-
something called wine. All right? And when you
-
drink wine, what will happen to you? If you drink
-
it in excess, what will happen to you? Eh? You'll
-
be drunk, right? So, wine. Whatever way you want
-
to explain it is wine. And if you drink plenty
-
of it, you'll be drunk. Hallelujah. So Jesus
-
turned water into wine. That's the context here.
-
Look how Jesus replied to her. She came to Jesus
-
and said, Your wine has finished. And Jesus said
-
to her, Woman, what does your concern have to
-
do with me? My hour has not yet come. My hour
-
has not yet come. His mother said to the servants,
-
whatever he says to you, do it. Now they set
-
their six water pots of stone according to the
-
manner of purification of the Jews containing
-
20 or 30 gallons apiece. Jesus said to them,
-
fill the water pots with water and they fill
-
them up to the brim. And he said to them, draw
-
some out now. Draw some out now and take it to
-
the master of the feast. That is the chairman
-
of the wedding. And they took it. When the master
-
of the feast had tested the water that was made
-
wine and did not know where it came from, but
-
the servants who had drawn the water knew, the
-
master of the feast called the bridegroom. And
-
he said to him, every man at the beginning set
-
out the good wine. And when the guests have well
-
drunk, then the inferior, you know, the wine
-
Jesus was a quality wine, you know, original
-
wine, not diluted. He was surprised. At every
-
wedding, people bring out the best so that people
-
will drink. And when they drink, they are drunk.
-
Then we can now see, you know, when you are drunk,
-
you will not know, you know. When you're hungry,
-
no matter how bad the food is, the food is always
-
sweet in your mouth when you're hungry. Understand?
-
But when you keep eating, you keep eating, no
-
matter how sweet it is, when you are full, you
-
know, we call it diminishing utility, right?
-
The more you take of a substance, the value or
-
the satisfaction you get from it drops. So the
-
master said of the wedding says, every man at
-
the beginning set out the good wine. And when
-
the guests have well drunk, then the inferior,
-
you have kept the good wine until now. I think
-
he was shouting there. Because it's an exclamation
-
mark. Right? This beginning of signs Jesus did
-
in Cana of Galilee and manifested his word, his
-
glory, and his disciples' word, they believed
-
him. Now. Why wine? Upon all the miracles that
-
Jesus will set out his ministry. Why alcohol?
-
Amen? Why wine? And we say that everything that
-
Jesus will teach, will do, okay, will say, must
-
have his root from where? From scripture. Hallelujah.
-
So why wine? We will see from the story that
-
fiscal wine, we will see from the story that
-
the fiscal wine finished at the party, right?
-
When Jesus was approached, he said in verse 4,
-
give me verse 4. He says, my hour is not yet
-
come. My hour has not yet come. Give me verse
-
4 again. He said, my hour has not yet come. What
-
does Jesus mean by my hour has not yet come?
-
Which means that he's talking about time, right?
-
This is not my time. This will mean that at his
-
hour, there shall be wine. Okay? He said, my
-
hour has not come, which means that at his hour,
-
what will happen? There will be wine. There will
-
be wine. So what does his hour mean? Or when
-
is his hour? If you are writing, you can put,
-
when is his hour? Let's investigate and see his
-
hour. What does his hour mean? What kind of wine
-
will we have at his hour? The original wine.
-
Amen? Remember, when he brought out the wine,
-
it was what? It was a high quality wine. It says,
-
my hour has not yet come. What is that hour?
-
And what kind of wine will we have at his hour?
-
Now, my hour will refer to a particular time,
-
a specific time. My hour will refer to a specific
-
time. Let's look at it in scriptures. John chapter
-
21. Jesus said to her, this is Jesus' interaction
-
with, you know, the Samaritan woman, right? Jesus
-
said to her, Woman, believe me. The hour, you
-
see the hour. My hour. The hour is coming. When
-
you will need on this mountain in Jerusalem worship
-
the father. Do you have an idea of when this
-
will happen? Huh? When? Help me. When? At his
-
resurrection, right? That's a hint. Verse 22.
-
You will worship what you do not know. We know
-
what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.
-
23. But the hour, the hour, the hour is coming.
-
And now is when the true worshipers will worship
-
the Father in spirit and truth. In spirit, which
-
is truth. So the hour is the hour where worship
-
will be what? By the spirit. For the father is
-
seeking such to worship him. Verse 24. God is
-
spirit. And those who worship him must worship
-
him in spirit. Which is truth. Which is true
-
worship. Jump to chapter 12. That same John.
-
Chapter 12 verse 23. John 12 verse 23. John chapter
-
12 verse 23. But Jesus answered them saying.
-
The hour has come. All right. Previously, we
-
established that the hour is when? It's after
-
his resurrection, right? Now, the specific time
-
where we see as the hour is after his resurrection.
-
Here, but Jesus answered them saying, the hour
-
has come that the son of man should be glorified.
-
Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain
-
of wheat, he explains. How the son of man will
-
be glorified. I say to you, unless a grain of
-
wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains
-
all alone. But if it dies, it produces much grain.
-
So it produces much grain. Verse 26, 25, 25,
-
25. He who loves his life will lose it. And he
-
who hates his life in this world will keep it
-
for eternal life. If anyone serves me, let him
-
follow me. And there where I am, there my servant
-
will be also. If anyone serves me, him my father
-
will honor. Now, go back to the previous verses.
-
It talks about unless a ground of wheat is what?
-
Dies. And he's making reference to what? To himself.
-
He's making reference to his death. If you plant
-
a seed on the ground, right? What happens to
-
the seed? A corn. It dies. then it comes back
-
to life. It germinates. And when it grows, it
-
has different, much more, it multiplies. That
-
is to say that at his death, right, at his death
-
and his resurrection, there will be many. There
-
will be many. There will be us. There will be
-
many. The grain of wheat falls into the ground
-
and dies. It remains alone. Unless it is dead,
-
as of that moment, it remains alone. He's the
-
only begotten. But once he dies and then he rise
-
again from the dead, we all became sons of God.
-
We share in that sonship with him. Hallelujah.
-
So that hour is referring to what? It's referring
-
to the time of his resurrection. Amen? His resurrection.
-
Now, chapter 17, John chapter 17, verse 1 also,
-
we'll see also. Referring to the hour. John chapter
-
17 verse 1. Jesus spoke this word, lifted up
-
his eyes to heaven and said, Father, the hour
-
has come. Glorify your son that your son may
-
also glorify you. Hallelujah. So the hour, from
-
the text we've read, we can derive that the hour
-
refers to Jesus' resurrection. The specific time,
-
okay, that Jesus Christ, He's referring to is
-
what? His resurrection. So the miracle of turning
-
water into wine is symbolic of what will happen
-
in Jesus' resurrection. Okay? The symbolism of
-
what the miracle of turning water into wine is
-
a teaching on what Jesus will do at his resurrection.
-
Mary, was speaking of what? What was she speaking
-
of? She was speaking of a physical wine. Right?
-
While Jesus' focus is on something spiritual,
-
is on spiritual wine. Because the hour of Jesus
-
Christ will be at his resurrection. And what
-
will happen at his resurrection is a spiritual
-
activity. So we'll see that his wine will be
-
what? Will be at his hour. Jesus will give God's
-
wine in his hour, in his time, at his time, at
-
his hour. Now this new wine will be in the father's
-
kingdom. The kingdom is at his resurrection.
-
This one will be at his father's resurrection.
-
His father's kingdom, rather. Matthew 26, 29,
-
we see where he said this clearly. This wine
-
will be what? Will be in his father's kingdom.
-
Matthew 26, 29. But I say to you. Now the context
-
is that he was at a table with the disciples.
-
But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit
-
of the vine. That is wine. From now until the
-
day. When I drink it new with you in my father's
-
kingdom. What is this wine? He also referred
-
to the wine as his blood. Now, what we're trying
-
to do right now is we're trying to find definitions,
-
terminologies that Jesus used in his teaching.
-
And the goal is to help us to explain that rock.
-
Don't be confused. All right? So here, what is
-
Jesus' wine? What is the wine? He also called
-
the wine his blood. Go back to verse 26 of that
-
same Matthew 26, from verse 26. And as they were
-
eating, Jesus took the bread and blessed and
-
broke it and gave it to the disciples and said,
-
take, eat, this is my body. So what did he call
-
the bread? He called the bread his body. All
-
right? If I were you, I would also cycle somewhere
-
the bread. Because it is something. It symbolizes
-
something. So, 27. Then he took the cup and gave
-
thanks and gave it to them, saying, drink from
-
it, all of you. Drink from it, all of you. For
-
this is my blood. This is my blood of the new
-
covenant, which is shed for many for the remissions
-
of sins. So what is he talking about here? His
-
resurrection, right? What will happen in the
-
resurrection? But I say to you, I will not drink
-
of this fruit of the vine from now until that
-
day when I drink it now, new rather, with you.
-
In my father's kingdom. So he also referred to
-
the wine as his blood. So it is important to
-
take note of how Jesus uses vocabularies and
-
terminologies. Okay? It is important to see.
-
Now let's study more about his usage of words.
-
26. Jesus answered them and said, Most assuredly,
-
I say to you, you seek me not because you sowed
-
the signs, but you ate of the loaves and were
-
filled. Remember we saw bread when he was with
-
his disciples, right? Now we're going to explain
-
what is his bread. Because do not label. Take
-
me back to verse 26. Jesus answered them and
-
said, most assuredly I say to you, you seek me
-
not because you saw the signs, but because you
-
ate of loaves and were filled. They ate what?
-
They ate physical bread and they were filled.
-
Verse 27. Do not labor for the food which perishes,
-
but for the food which endures to everlasting
-
life. Which the son of man will give you because
-
God, the father, has set his seed on him. Now
-
in this verse 27, we can see that there are two
-
types of food. Okay? First, there is a food which
-
perishes. And what is that food? The physical
-
food that you eat. And then the perishing of
-
that is that you go and throw it in the sewage.
-
Right? And it has perished. But Jesus now introduces
-
another food that yields, that he says, but for
-
the food which endures to everlasting life, which
-
the Son of Man will give you. So Jesus will give
-
a certain food, which when you eat, will lead
-
to eternal life. Amen? It will lead to eternal
-
life. So the background story here in this John
John 6 chapter mention
-
chapter 6. It's from verse 1. When Jesus had
-
performed the miracle of the feeding of the 5
-
,000, and then he began teaching about the kingdom.
-
Now, in verse 27, we see him contrasting two
-
kinds of food. Fiscal food and what? And spiritual
-
food. Amen? Fiscal food and what? And spiritual
-
food. Now, let's go to, let's continue our reading.
-
Verse 28. Then they said to him, what shall we
-
do that we may walk the works of God? As if they
-
are, you know, really out for the work of God.
-
What shall we do to walk the works of God? Now
-
look at what the work of God is. What is the
-
work of God? This is the work of God. Jesus said
-
to them, that you what? That you believe in him
-
whom he sent. Therefore they said to him, what
-
sign? Will you perform then that we may see it
-
and believe you? What work will you do? These
-
guys, they want food. They make reference to
-
their father. Who is their father? Their ancestors
-
under Moses. They said, our fathers ate the manna
-
in the desert as it is written. They knew from
-
scriptures, right? He gave them bread from heaven
-
to eat. Then Jesus said to them, most assuredly,
-
I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread
-
from heaven. All right? The bread you eat is
-
a physical bread. Moses did not give you the
-
bread from heaven, but my father gives the true
-
bread from heaven. The true bread from heaven,
-
true bread means, what does it mean? The word
-
true. The real bread, right? The one that is
-
permanent. We're not saying that the bread they
-
ate is a false bread, no. True here means one
-
that lasts forever and is from heaven. For a
-
bread of God, let's look at the definition of
-
a God's bread now. What is the definition of
-
their own bread? It's flour. Mixed with dough
-
baked in the oven. That is their own bread, right?
-
That is the definition of their bread. What is
-
God's definition of bread? For the bread of God
-
is what? Is a person. Amen? So when you see bread,
-
in God's language, the bread is a person. For
-
the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven
-
and gives life to the world. It means that what
-
Moses did was a picture or was speaking about
-
what Jesus will do. Jesus is the bread that gives
-
life. But started, yeah, 34. Then he said to
-
him, then they said to him, Lord, give us this
-
bread always. Give us this bread when? Always.
-
And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life.
-
I am the bread of life. He who comes to me shall
-
never hunger. Because it's a true bread. It's
-
an eternal bread. Once you eat this bread, you
-
will never be hungry again. Alright? And he who
-
believes in me shall never thirst. But I say
-
to you, that you have seen me and yet do not
-
believe. So what does it mean to eat? It means
-
to believe. Yet you've seen this bread, but you've
-
refused to eat of this bread. God's definition
-
for eating is believing, right? We've done this
-
several times in church here. But I said to you
-
that you have seen me and yet do not believe.
-
All that the Father gives me, Will come to me.
-
And the one who comes to me. I will by no means
-
cast out. For I have come down from heaven. Not
-
to do my own will. But the will of him. Who sent
-
me. This is the will of the father. Who sent
-
me. That of all that he has given me. I should
-
lose nothing. But should raise it up. At the
-
last day. And this is the will of him who sent
-
me. That everyone who sees the son will do what?
-
And believes in him may have everlasting life.
-
And I will raise him up at the last day. Now,
-
what Jesus is doing here is telling them what
-
Moses did. Amen? He's teaching them Moses here.
-
What Moses did by giving them the physical bread.
-
The miracle Moses demonstrated of. Of feeding
-
the nation of Israel with the loves of bread.
-
Jesus replicated that by feeding 5 ,000. Moses
-
fed the children of Israel in the wilderness.
-
For how long? For 40 years. Jesus replicated
-
that miracle by feeding the 5 ,000. Verse 41.
-
And the Jews then complained about him because,
-
you know, the bread they were looking for is
-
not really Jesus. They want bread. They want
-
to eat food. The Jews then complained about him
-
because he said, I am the bread which came down
-
from heaven. And they said, is not this Jesus
-
the son of Joseph whose father and mother we
-
know? But you people ate 5 ,000, you people ate
-
that bread after, you didn't complain. Now when
-
he's telling you that he's a bread of life that
-
comes down from heaven, even with a sign he did,
-
he didn't believe. Whose father and mother we
-
know. How is it then that he says, I came, I
-
have come down from heaven. Jesus therefore answered
-
and said to them, do not murmur among yourselves.
-
No one can come to me unless the father. Who
-
sent me draws him. And I will raise him up at
-
the last day. It is written in the prophets.
-
Look at Jesus. Continuation of his teaching.
-
It is written in the prophets. And they shall
-
be taught by God. Therefore. Therefore. Everyone
-
who has heard and learned from the father. Comes
-
to me. Not that anyone. Has seen the father.
-
Except he. who is from God, he has seen the Father.
-
Most assuredly, I say to you, that is verily,
-
he who believes in me has everlasting life. He
-
who believes in me has everlasting life. 48.
-
I am, what? The bread of life. He keep hammering,
-
I am the bread of life. I am the bread of life.
-
Verse 49. Your fathers ate manna in the wilderness.
-
Now he's bringing home the teaching to them.
-
Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness
-
and what happened to them? They died. Which means
-
that that bread is not a true bread. Which means
-
that that bread, if you eat it, you will not
-
live forever. You will not live everlasting life.
-
You will not have everlasting life. If you eat
-
the physical bread, you yourself will even perish.
-
This is the bread which comes down from heaven,
-
that one may eat of it and not die. So there's
-
a contrasting between the bread that Jesus was
-
speaking about and the bread that the men were
-
expecting. Similarly with the wine that we saw
-
earlier on at Cana. Okay? I am the living bread
-
which comes down from heaven. If anyone eats
-
of this bread, he will live when? Forever. And
-
the bread that I shall give is what? What is
-
the bread? The bread is my flesh. This bread
-
is my flesh which I shall give for the life of
-
the world. The bread is my flesh which I shall
-
give for the life of the world. Then the Jews
-
therefore quarreled among themselves saying,
-
how can this man give us his flesh to eat? How
-
can this man give us his flesh to eat? Then Jesus
-
said to them, most assuredly I say to you, unless
-
you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink
-
his blood, you have what? You have no life in
-
you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood,
-
Has eternal life. And I will raise him up at
-
the last day. So is Jesus referring to physical
-
flesh? Is Jesus referring to physical blood?
-
For my flesh is food indeed. And my blood is
-
what? Is drink indeed. So I want you to make
-
some parallel assumptions here right now. The
-
wine is what? Is a blood. Alright? The flesh
-
is also the what? Is the bread. Do we agree?
-
Can we see the parallel of this in his teachings?
-
So do we know the wine of God? Is the blood,
-
right? Do we know the bread of God? It is flesh.
-
Alright? So, let's continue. He who eats my flesh
-
and drinks my blood abides in me. Amen? You eat
-
the flesh, you drink the blood, you abide in
-
him, and I in him. How does a man come in union
-
with God? How does a man come in union with God?
-
How does God enter a man? By faith. By what?
-
The Spirit. All are there. As the living Father
-
sent me, and I live because of the Father, so
-
he who feeds on me will live because of me. Last
-
verse. This is the bread which comes down from
-
heaven, not as your fathers ate the manna and
-
are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.
-
He who eats this bread will live forever. So
-
in verses 32, 33, we will see the bread Moses
-
gave their fathers and also the bread God gives.
-
Contrast of two different breads. Two kinds of
-
bread. The true bread means it is real and permanent.
-
It gives eternal life for one who eats it will
-
never hunger again. And what is their bread?
-
Their bread is what is egg make. It's flour.
-
And it is a shadow. It is a shadow. It is a symbol.
-
It is pointing toward the God's bread, the true
-
bread, the body of Jesus Christ. So we accept
-
the divination of Jesus, right? So when we see
-
bread, we know what it means. It's a vocabulary
-
in the kingdom. We know what it means. Hallelujah.
-
So when you say bread, when we say bread in this
-
house, we know what bread is. What is bread?
-
Bread is the body of Jesus Christ. We know what
-
blood is, blood of Jesus Christ. Blood of Jesus
-
Christ is what we drink in the kingdom so that
-
we can have life. Amen? But if you tell an unbeliever
-
outside there that you eat flesh and you drink
-
blood, how will they understand what you are
-
saying? It becomes what? It becomes a mystery.
-
But this mystery can be explained. By what? By
-
explanation, by teaching. As we are knowing now,
-
that when we say blood, flesh and blood in the
-
context of Jesus Christ, we are referring to
-
his body. And that is what we eat. So that we
-
can have him in us. Hallelujah. So we accept
-
the definition of Jesus as the kingdom vocabulary.
-
Our bread is the body of Jesus. We have eaten.
-
And what does it mean to eat? We have believed.
-
the body, and have drunk his blood. And then
-
from verse 60 to 65, that's John 60, 65, chapter
-
6, verse 60 to 65, we see they refuse to believe.
-
Give me verse 60, from verse 60. It says, therefore
-
many of his disciples, when they had this said,
-
this is a hard saying, who can understand it?
-
When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples
-
complained about this, he said to them, does
-
this offend you? Do you get offended by this
-
thing? What then if I should see, what if you
-
should see the son of man ascending where he
-
was before? And then he made it clear. This is
-
what I'm meaning. What gives life? It is the
-
spirit who gives life. You eat bread, you have
-
life. So what he's explaining to disciples here,
-
he's telling them that the bread is what? Is
-
spirit. Alright? The bread, the blood, the wine,
-
is his spirit. Do we understand? Do you understand?
-
Jamila, what is the bread? His spirit. What is
-
the wine? His spirit. What is the blood? His
-
spirit. Alright? So, these symbols is referring
-
to what? His spirit. It is the spirit who gives
-
life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that
-
I speak to you are spirit and they are life.
-
But there are some of you who do not believe.
-
For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were,
-
who did not believe, and who would betray him.
-
And he said, therefore I have said to you that
-
no one can come to me unless it has been granted
-
to him by my Father. And of course, it's through
-
faith. Hallelujah. So we can see that the flesh
-
of Jesus Christ, the blood of Jesus Christ, refers
-
to what? To his spirit, to his spirit. So our
-
definition of the flesh is a spirit. Our definition
-
of the bread is a spirit. Jesus also used water
-
in teaching about the spirit. Symbolism, right?
-
Jesus also used water in teaching about the spirit.
-
John chapter 3 from verse 1, we'll see. Let's
John 3 chapter mention
-
verse 1. There was a man of the Pharisees named
-
Nicodemus. This man came to Jesus by night and
-
said to him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher.
-
Come from God, for no one can do these signs
-
that you do unless God Is with him. Unless God
-
is with him. Jesus answered and said to him.
-
Most assuredly I say to you. Unless one is born
-
again. He cannot see. The kingdom of heaven.
-
So to be in the kingdom of heaven. You must be
-
born again. So Nicodemus. Now there is a contrast
-
here. Okay. Jesus Christ was explaining. Birth.
-
Alright? Jesus Christ was explaining birth, the
-
new birth. And then what Nicodemus was able to
-
see was a physical birth. Now, let's continue.
-
Nicodemus said to him, how can a man be born
-
when he is old? Can he enter a second time into
-
his mother's womb and be born? Jesus answered,
-
most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born
-
of what? Of water. And the spirit, now we've
-
explained in church here that the water, that
-
idea is best explained as what? Which is, right?
-
Born of water, which is the spirit. He cannot
-
enter the kingdom of God. That which is born
-
of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of
-
the spirit, spirit. Do not marvel that I say
-
to you, you must be born again. The wind blows
-
where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it,
-
but cannot tell where it comes from and where
-
it goes. So it's everyone who is born of the
-
Spirit. Nicodemus answered and said to him, How
-
can these things be? Jesus answered and said
-
to him, Are you the teacher of Israel and not
-
know these things? Because these things have
-
been explained in the writings of the prophets.
-
These things have been explained by the writings
-
of Moses. How can you not understand these things
-
and you are a teacher of Israel? Most assuredly
-
I say to you, we speak what we know and testify
-
what we have seen. And you do not receive our
-
witness. It's referring to the unbelief of the
-
people. If I have told you earthly things and
-
you do not believe, how will you believe if I
-
tell you heavenly things? No one has ascended
-
to heaven, but he who came down from heaven,
-
that is the son of man who is in heaven. Now,
-
he went back to the books of Moses, Numbers 29.
-
To bring home the point, he says, and as Moses
-
lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even
-
so must the son of man be lifted up. That is,
-
as Moses taught the children of Israel. All right?
-
Lifting up the serpent is Moses' teaching about
-
Jesus. As Moses lifted up the serpent in the
-
wilderness, the men will look up, the men will
-
see and believe that whoever believes in him
-
should not perish, but have eternal life. And
-
then, for God so loved the world that he gave
-
his only begotten son. It was not direct. Whoever
-
believes in him should not perish, but have what?
-
Have everlasting life. For God did not send his
-
son into the world to condemn the world, but
-
that the world through him might be saved. And
-
of course, this prophecy about water being the
-
spirit, we see it in Ezekiel 36, verse 25 to
-
27. That is where Jesus Christ Was. Teaching
-
from. Water as the spirit. Where is that you
-
must be born. You must be what. So let's look
-
at John. John chapter 7 verse 37. Where he explicitly.
-
John 7 verse 37. On the last day. That great
-
day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out saying,
-
if anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.
-
If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and do
-
what? And drink. He who believes in me, as the
-
scripture has said, out of his heart will flow.
-
Rivers of living water. Verse 39. But this. Look
-
at it. The rivers of living water. But this he
-
speaks of what? He spoke concerning the spirit.
-
Whom those believing in him will receive. For
-
the Holy Spirit was not yet given. Because Jesus
-
was not yet what? Glorified. So what is the water?
-
The spirit. All right? Go back to verse 38. He
-
says, verse 37. If anyone tasks, let him come
-
to me and drink. 38, yes. He who believes in
-
me as the scripture has said. Jesus said, as
-
the scripture has said. Okay, what does it mean
-
by as the scripture has said? Is there any verse
-
in the Bible that said this specific thing that
-
Jesus said? As the scripture have said, out of
-
his heart will flow the rivers of living water.
-
Now, if you go through the Old Testament, right,
-
you will not see anywhere in scripture exactly
-
as portrayed at the heart of his heart. Some
-
people, oftentimes, they say it's Zechariah 14
-
verse 8. Let's look at Zechariah chapter 14 verse
-
8. This is not this text. That's not a reference.
-
Zechariah 14 verse 8. Zechariah 14 verse 8. Media,
-
help me. They don't have Zechariah in their Bible.
-
Okay? Zechariah 14 verse 8. Alright, they are
-
here. And in that day, It shall be that living
-
water shall flow from Jerusalem, half of them
-
towards the eastern sea and half of them towards
-
the western sea, in both summer and winter, and
-
in all winter it shall occur. And the Lord shall
-
be king over the earth. In that day it shall
-
be the Lord is one, and his name is one. Now,
-
this is not exactly the same quotation. But then,
-
when Jesus Christ said that, As the scripture
-
says, what he's meaning here, right? Listen to
-
me carefully. What he's meaning here is that
-
the entire scripture is a context of what Jesus
-
say here. Are we together? The entire scripture
-
that is from Malachi, from Genesis to Malachi,
-
is the context of what Jesus Christ is speaking
-
here. So we can conclude based on this evidence
-
that what? That the teachings, this is what we
-
are trying to hit. This is where we're headed
-
to. That the teachings and the miracles of Jesus
-
Christ are concerning what he will do when? When
-
will he do them? In his resurrection. Alright?
-
These are the things that will be accomplished
-
at his resurrection. The vocabulary or the use
-
of words Jesus employed in teaching about the
-
kingdom, in explaining the things concerning
-
the kingdom, are different from that of which
-
we see in the world. Meaning that what? That
-
what Jesus Christ will say is bread. Okay? Will
-
be different from what the world will say is
-
bread. What Jesus Christ will say is water. When
-
you see water, what Jesus Christ will mean will
-
be different from what the world will say is
-
water. Are we together? So in this kingdom, we
-
have a vocabulary. We have terminologies that
-
we must understand. It's very important. It's
-
crucial to understanding scriptures. It's important
-
in understanding scriptures. Hallelujah. Are
-
we together? So, in the same light, the rock
-
and the church, right? When Jesus Christ said
-
the rock and when he said the church, it must
-
be the same. Rock and church that has been spoken
-
of by Moses. That have been taught by the writings
-
of Moses. The Psalms and the prophets. Because
-
we have seen the background of all that Jesus
-
did and taught. Where from what? Where from the
-
Old Testament text. The church will be the church
-
when? In his resurrection. So. What is expected
-
of us, therefore, is that we can accept, that
-
we should accept Jesus' use of terminologies.
-
What he says is what it is. God's definition
-
must be our definition. We believe what he says
-
it is so that we can understand his word and
-
walk in his word. Now, what is the rock? What
-
is the rock? Matthew 16, verse 18. Matthew 16,
-
verse 18. And I also say to you that you are
-
Peter. And on this rock, I will build my church,
-
and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against
-
it. So how are we going to explain this rock?
-
Someone should help us. How are we going to explain
-
this rock now? We've done, this is a biblical
-
interpretation, right, Pastor Victor? Okay, so
-
how are we going to explain this rock now? Someone
-
should chorus it for us. How are we going to
-
explain this rock? Hmm? From the scripture? From
-
Matthew? Because Matthew is scripture too. From
-
where? From the Old Testament. What is Old Testament?
-
Hmm? Sisters, do you agree with him? If we want
-
to understand what that rock is, where should
-
we go to? Speak louder, we can hear. Writings
-
of Moses, right? Because Jesus Christ will not
-
bring in something from somewhere. Are we together?
-
Because he came to fulfill, to accomplish what
-
was already written. So if you want to see what
-
the rock is, then we have to go back to where?
-
Let's go back. to the writings of Moses in order
-
for us to understand what that rock is. So let's
-
see what Moses wrote concerning the rock. What
-
Moses wrote concerning the rock. Exodus chapter
Exodus 33 chapter mention
-
33. Exodus 33. Amen. Move to verse 12, from verse
-
12. Then the Lord said to Moses, no, then Moses
-
said to the Lord, see, you say to me, bring up
-
these people, bring up these people, but you
-
have not let me know whom you will send with
-
me. Yet you have said, I know you by name, and
-
you have also found grace in my sight. Now, therefore,
-
I pray, if I have found favor in your sight,
-
show me your way, that I may know you, that I
-
may find grace in your sight, and consider that
-
this nation is your people. And he said, my presence
-
will go with you and I will give you rest. Then
-
he said to him, if your presence does not go
-
with us, do not bring us up from here. For how
-
then will it be known that your people and I
-
have found grace in your sight, except you go
-
with us? So we shall be separate, your people
-
and I, from all the people who are upon the face
-
of the earth. So the Lord said to Moses, I will
-
also do this thing that you have spoken. For
-
you have found grace in my sight. And I know
-
you by name. And he said, please, please, please
-
show me your glory. Then he said, I will make
-
all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim
-
the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious
-
to whom I will be gracious, and I will have mercy
-
on whom I will have compassion. That's what compassion
-
is, mercy. But he said, you cannot see my face,
-
for no man shall see me and live. And the Lord
-
said, here is a place by me. And you shall stand
-
on the rock. Do we see a rock here? Amen? Do
-
we see the rock? And you shall what? And you
-
shall stand on what? On the rock. So the terminology
-
of Jesus Christ is not what? It's not new. Okay?
-
In fact. Even when Jesus Christ was talking about
-
a house, that he will hear my word and what?
-
Matthew 7, right? It's likened unto a man who
-
do what? Who build his house on what? On a rock.
-
Okay? That is way because he will not bring out
-
something from nowhere. And the Lord said, here
-
is a place by me. and you shall stand on the
-
rock. So it shall be while my glory passes by,
-
that I will put you in the cleft of the rock,
-
and will cover you with my hand while I pass
-
by. Then I will take away my hand, and you shall
-
see my back, but my face shall not be seen. Hallelujah.
-
So, verse 18. Verse 18. Moses asks for something.
-
Say, please, show me your glory. Show me your
-
glory. Amen? And the question is, what is glory?
-
What is the glory that Moses wants to see? You
-
know, when we were younger, we've been, oh, ignorance
-
of consumers. We used to pray this prayer, you
-
know. God, show us your glory. And what we define
-
as glory was we want to see power. You know?
-
Moses was asking for power from God. Moses was
-
asking for a new dimension. He was asking for
-
a new dimension of operation. And that is how
-
oftentimes we've interpreted this passage. Moses
-
requested to see the glory of God. Now, I want
-
us to pause a little bit and look at who Moses
-
is. Right? Moses has experienced the power of
-
God. Do we agree? That Moses have seen the miraculous.
-
Do we agree? In fact, in the entire scriptures,
-
right? Nobody. Nobody. has worked in the dimension
-
of power that Moses has worked in. If it's miraculous,
-
nobody has performed the miracles that Moses
-
did. Even Jesus Christ, when he was in earth,
-
did not do the miracles Moses did. Do you know
-
why? Okay, let's take one miracle and analyze.
-
Jesus fed the 5 ,000, right? Moses fed the entire
-
nation of Israel for 40 years. With bread. Jesus
-
asked for lots of bread and do the miracle. Moses
-
commanded the bread to appear for 40 years. Only
-
men and women above, right? Okay, only men. That's
-
the census, right? 20 years and above were counted,
-
right? In the time of Moses. So over 600 ,000
-
people. Without women and children. For how many
-
years? For 40 years. Okay. Imagine the magnitude
-
of miracle that Moses performed. When they were
-
tasked for water, Moses made water come out of
-
rock, rock, stone. Water came out of it. Is this
-
not power? Peter walked on water, right? Moses
-
separated the sea. People walk on dry ground.
-
Peter even doubted. Amen? Moses is a dangerous
-
man. He asked the water to separate. Part in
-
one end. Let them march until the entire nation
-
of Israel pass through the Red Sea. Then he turned
-
and said, we are closed back. This is power.
-
This is miracle. This is dimension. Let's even
-
go to Egypt and let's begin to count the things
-
that he did in Egypt. What was the first thing
-
he did in Egypt? Let's count it randomly. Please
-
tell me. What are the plagues? Give us one. Water
-
in the entire country. He turned it into blood.
-
What else again? Frogs were everywhere, full
-
everywhere. What again? Flies and locusts. What
-
again? Darkness. Imagine you cause the entire
-
nation to be dark. No sunlight. He controlled
-
nature. Tell me who in the Bible performed this
-
kind of miracle apart from Moses? What is again?
-
Just imagine. That one is the pig. He performed
-
snake. Came out from his staff. He turned into
-
snake. All right. What else? I want us to, this
-
is important in understanding what Moses was
-
asking for. If you cannot catch this revelation,
-
then it will be difficult. When we begin to interpret
-
what that glory is, it's going to be difficult.
-
He saw the burning bush. In fact, when he encountered
-
God first, God gave him an appetizer. Say Moses,
-
throw your stuff on the ground, right? It didn't
-
turn to snake. Say pick it up, pick it up. This
-
is stage one. Stage one is burning bush. Fire
-
was burning, right? And it was not burning. Imagine,
-
you see fire catching something and then it's
-
not burning. Moses, let me just turn and see.
-
Okay? And then leprosy. His hand became leprous.
-
This one came too close. So if it's power and
-
the miraculous, even the birth and the survival
-
of Moses is a miracle. When they were killing
-
people, killing children, How did Moses survive
-
that age? Was it ordinary? His survival, he grew
-
up in the very place where the order to kill
-
children was made. So Moses is a definition of
-
what? of the experience of power, of the miraculous,
-
and even his death was a miracle. Even his death
-
is a miracle. He died, nobody could know where
-
his body is. Some contemporary writers, when
-
they write about Moses, they see him as a mystery.
-
No wonder when you begin to write the things
-
you wrote in Genesis, Exodus, sometimes you begin
-
to wonder what kind of understanding did this
-
man have? Where did he get this wisdom of writing
-
the things he wrote? He was not there. He was
-
not even born. Some of the things he saw, he
-
wrote. The entire Bible, let me tell you, the
-
entire scripture. is founded on what Moses wrote.
-
The writings of Moses is the Bible. If you take
-
away the writings of Moses, there is no Bible,
-
there is no Christianity. So this is a man that
-
I've tested. That's tested. He has experienced
-
God mightily. You know. We've not even talked
-
about the tabernacle. Where Moses will climb
-
up to the mountain and then cloud will cover.
-
All the mysterious things that happen. In the
-
wilderness, when some people gang up against
-
him, the ground open and swallow them up. See,
-
sometimes I wonder. With the kind of, with the
-
things you see in this man's life, you're not
-
scared of Miriam and Cody. We're not scared of
-
even saying bad things about him. Somebody that
-
when he comes down, the Bible says that he covers
-
his face, right? Hallelujah. But Moses requested,
-
say Lord. Show me what? Show me thy glory. Show
-
me thy glory. What is this glory? What is this
-
glory? There was something that he was looking
-
for to see. I just want you to just begin to
-
pray. I feel that you just start praying on your
-
seat. Just speak to God. Open your mouth and
-
speak to God. Speak to God. Speak to God. What
-
is your desire? What do you desire? What do you
-
desire? We look forward to having you with us
-
next time. God bless.
