  1. Hi there, welcome to NECF. We're excited to share

  2. today's message with you. Don't go anywhere,

  3. stay with us till the end for some valuable resources

  4. to enrich your faith. Here's today's sermon.

  5. All right, hallelujah. So we are welcome once

  6. again. Today we have been going through many

  7. teachings. Starting from our lead pastor to the

  8. associate pastor, Pastor Victor, was taking us

  9. through silent teaching. And I'm sure we have

  10. been blessed. I'm sure we have been blessed.

  11. I'm sure we are growing. And I'm sure that we

  12. desire more, right? We are not tired of receiving.

  13. We can't be tired of receiving. We are ready

  14. to receive more and more and more and more. Hallelujah.

  15. Because there's abundance in God's spirit. Hallelujah.

  16. There's abundance in God's spirit to give unto

  17. us, to give to his children. So this morning

  18. we would be starting, I think I would say the

  19. third direction for this conference. And the

  20. title is The Gift of the Spirit. Right? The Gift

  21. of the Spirit. The Gift of the Spirit. The gift

  22. of the spirits. And to start with, I'd like us

  23. to open to Ephesians 1. Start with Ephesians

  24. 1 this morning. Ephesians chapter 1. I'm using

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  25. my ESV Bible media team if you want to know,

  26. right? So I'm using my NKJVs. I didn't bring

  27. it today. So I'm going to use this. It's quite

  28. difficult when you're functioning with a particular

  29. Bible to easily switch like that. So I'm using

  30. my ears. Will you walk with me with that? Can

  31. we just pray the Holy Ghost as we are seated

  32. here? I just want us to pray the Holy Ghost.

  33. The prayer is that your mind is open to receive

  34. the word of God. My mind is open to receive the

  35. word of God. There is no distraction. There is

  36. no confusion within my spirits. Can you just

  37. pray? There is no destruction in my mind. I received

  38. the word of God that has saved me that I may

  39. be able to grow much more in Christ. My spirit

  40. is a lot. My spirit is a lot to receive the word

  41. of God. As the word comes into my ears, my spirit

  42. receives it with joy. My spirit receives it with

  43. joy. My spirit receives it with joy. I am strengthened.

  44. I am strengthened as I listen to the word of

  45. God. I am strengthened. No distractions. No distractions.

  46. Oh, thank you, Holy Spirit. Thank you, Holy Spirit.

  47. Thank you, Holy Spirit. Thank you, Jesus. In

  48. Jesus' name we pray. Amen. So for the next two

  49. days, we'll be going through this teaching, which

  50. is the gift of the spirits. Myself and Pastor

  51. Kirsten will take us through this. And it's going

  52. to be quite, it's going to be a great blessing

  53. because most of some of the things that have

  54. been taught by our lead pastor, Pastor Fred and

  55. Pastor Victor, some of them will pop up again.

  56. Right. And that shows us that the scripture,

  57. right, explains itself. Right. The scripture

  58. is not a disjoint material, but a book spiritually.

  59. How can I put it? Put together that the topics,

  60. right, the topics pertaining to the things of

  61. the spirit actually so connected. So we're going

  62. to see some of those things again and they will

  63. help us to to grow in knowledge of Christ. So

  64. let's start. I would like us to read this entire

  65. chapter, actually, because this is where we are

  66. starting from. The gift of the Spirit. We'll

  67. start from the understanding of what is spiritual.

  68. But we'll try to understand what is the Spirit.

  69. Right? We'll try to understand what is the Spirit.

  70. We'll start from spiritual. We'll try to understand

  71. what is the Spirit or who is the Spirit. Much

  72. better. And the promise of the Spirit. Then we

  73. will go into how the Spirit functions. Right?

  74. How the Spirit functions. So we start from spiritual.

  75. We try to understand what is the Spirit. Then

  76. we try to understand much more in detail the

  77. promise of the Spirit. Then how the Spirit functions,

  78. right? How the Spirit functions. So from there,

  79. that's when we'll go to 1 Corinthians 12, which

  80. is our main scripture that we are going to dwell

  81. on so much. But we need to lay this foundation.

  82. We need to lay this foundation so that we can

  83. be able to have a clarity of what is being taught.

  84. So we read from Ephesians chapter 1 from beginning

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

  85. to the end. We're going to read everything. I'm

  86. going to read myself. Paul, an apostle of Christ

  87. Jesus, by the will of God to the saints who are

  88. in Ephesus and are faithful in Christ Jesus.

  89. Grace to you and peace from God, our Father and

  90. the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and

  91. the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has

  92. blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing

  93. in the heavenly places. Of course, we know that's

  94. in the heavenlies. Even as he chose us in him

  95. before the foundation of the world, that we should

  96. be holy. and blameless before him in love. He

  97. predestined us for adoption to himself as sons,

  98. through Jesus, according to the purpose of his

  99. will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with

  100. which he has blessed us in the beloved. In him

  101. we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness

  102. of our trespasses, according to the riches of

  103. his grace. which he lavished upon us in all wisdom

  104. and insight, making known to us the mystery of

  105. his will, according to his purpose, which he

  106. set forth in Christ, as a plan for the fullness

  107. of time to unite all things in him, things in

  108. heaven and things on earth. In him we have obtained

  109. an inheritance, having been predestined according

  110. to the purpose of him, who works all things according

  111. to the counsel, So that we who are the first

  112. to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his

  113. glory. In him you also, when you heard the word

  114. of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed

  115. in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.

  116. Who is the guarantee of our inheritance until

  117. we acquire possession of it to the praise of

  118. his glory. For this reason, because I have heard

  119. of your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and your

  120. love towards all the saints, I do not cease to

  121. give thanks for remembering you in my prayers

  122. that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father

  123. of glory, may give you the spirit of wisdom and

  124. revelation in the knowledge of him. Having the

  125. eyes of your heart enlightened that you may know,

  126. that you may know what is the hope to which he

  127. has called you. What are the riches of his glorious

  128. inheritance in the saints? And what is the immeasurable

  129. greatness of his power towards us who believed?

  130. According to the walking of his great might,

  131. that he walked in Christ when he raised him from

  132. the dead and seated him at his right hand in

  133. the heavenly places. Far above all rule and authority

  134. and power and dominion and above every name that

  135. is named, not only in this age, but also. In

  136. the one to come. And he put all things. Under

  137. his feet. And gave him as head. Over all things

  138. to the church. Which is the body. The fullness

  139. of him. Who fits all in all. Hallelujah. Amen.

  140. So we are starting to pick from here. First.

  141. The number of things we need to start with. And

  142. is in verse 3. Verse 3. It says he blessed us,

  143. right? Blessed be the God of our father. Blessed

  144. be God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ who

  145. blessed us in Christ with every spiritual what?

  146. Blessings, right? Every spiritual blessing in

  147. the heavenlies, right? Every spiritual blessing

  148. in the heavenlies. So we see spiritual blessing

  149. there. Now, we see Paul writing a number of things

  150. that is the believer's spiritual blessing. Right?

  151. We see what that is. Of course, we know the summary

  152. of all that is salvation. But Paul had to bring

  153. it out that we might see clearly what is happening

  154. in salvation. Do we get it? So, Paul listed those

  155. things. Not that they are... distinct away from

  156. themselves, but this is what happened at salvation.

  157. So it's not like you receive forgiveness of sins,

  158. then after that you become sons. After that you

  159. become predestined. No, no, no. It's something

  160. that happened once at salvation. I'm going to

  161. show you the one that is left. If you go to verse

  162. 13, it said, When we heard the word of truth,

  163. the gospel of his salvation, believed in him,

  164. we are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,

  165. who is the guarantee of our inheritance until

  166. we acquire the possession of it to the praise

  167. of his glory. Verse 14 is what the believer is

  168. waiting for. Everything from beginning up until

  169. that time we have received. In fact, it sums

  170. this all up as the promised Spirit. Actually,

  171. he sums all that things all up and brings it

  172. up and said, it is the promised spirit. So let's

  173. see. He said, even as he chose us from foundation

  174. of the world that we should be holy and blameless,

  175. right? He predestined us for adoption, which

  176. is the same thing explained using the concept

  177. of adoption there, according to the purpose of

  178. his will, to the praise of his glory. Verse seven,

  179. in him we have redemption through his blood,

  180. the forgiveness of our sins, right? This is also

  181. adoption. This is also adoption. Bringing it

  182. out, using different things. Of course, these

  183. terminologies, adoption, being predestined, being

  184. chosen, the redemption through his blood, the

  185. forgiveness of our trespasses, all these things

  186. are found in salvation when a man believes. right?

  187. It's found in salvation when a man believes.

  188. So verse eight says, he lavished upon us in all

  189. wisdom and might, making known to us the misery

  190. of his will. So we know misery of his will means

  191. that something just like pastor told us, right?

  192. Something that is, uh, now it's not something

  193. that I said, but something that is revelation

  194. that needs to be explained, right? Something

  195. that needs to be, uh, opened up, right? And given

  196. insight. So this is what God has planned a full

  197. time, according to the purpose, which is set

  198. forth. in Christ. Verse 10 now says, as a plan

  199. for the fullness of time to unite all things

  200. in heaven and on earth. Now that's all, uniting

  201. all things in heaven and on earth will take us

  202. to Genesis 1, but we're going to come back to

  203. that, right? So the emphasis here is that we

  204. have seen up until verse 14, all that has taken

  205. place in the believer. So all of that, the summary

  206. of it is salvation. And the, peak of it took

  207. place through the promised Holy Spirit. And what

  208. we are waiting for is the redemption of the body.

  209. So this is spiritual blessings. Now, upon this

  210. foundation, okay, upon all that Christ has done

  211. and that which you have received, say we have

  212. received the promise as a guarantee of the redemption

  213. of the body, right? So we have received the promise

  214. as a guarantee for the redemption. Upon all of

  215. this, Paul now began to pray for them. Right?

  216. He began to pray. And we need to check what is

  217. the essence of Paul's prayer. Paul is not praying

  218. for forgiveness of sins for them. Paul is not

  219. praying that they will be predestined. Paul is

  220. not praying that a plan will come to pass. No,

  221. Paul wrote about their reality from verse 10.

  222. Three, up until 14. So he was not praying for

  223. forgiveness of sin for them. He was not praying

  224. about so that they may be able to come into salvation.

  225. He wasn't praying for that, right? But he was

  226. telling them about their reality. So what is

  227. Paul's prayer for these people, right? After

  228. listing their spiritual blessings. He says, verse

  229. 15, for this reason, because I have heard of

  230. your feet in the Lord Jesus Christ. and your

  231. love towards the saints. So they believed. I

  232. do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering

  233. you in my prayers. Now, this is it. That the

  234. God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,

  235. may give you the wisdom of the spirits. We've

  236. taught that in cell meetings, so you should understand

  237. this. The wisdom of the spirit and revelation

  238. in the knowledge of him. Right? So they will

  239. walk in the wisdom of the Spirit. They will walk

  240. in revelation, right? Of course, the wisdom of

  241. the Spirit is revelation. Right? I say it again.

  242. The wisdom of the Spirit is revelation in Christ.

  243. So, we walk in revelation in the knowledge of

  244. Him. Having the eyes of the heart enlightened,

  245. that they may what? Know. Know. That they may

  246. know what is the hope to which He has called

  247. them. So when you see the word hope to which

  248. he has called, it means that the believer is

  249. called for a service. After receiving spiritual

  250. blessings, the believer is called for a service.

  251. You are not just called to give the things of

  252. the spirit to you, to have the gift of the spirit,

  253. to have all of that and do nothing. But the believer

  254. is called for a service. So we must know, That

  255. we have been called to service. And the things

  256. that pertain to that service. We must know that

  257. we have been called to service. The hope of our

  258. calling. And the things that pertain to that

  259. service. The things that pertain to that service.

  260. So the first prayer here is that they may know.

  261. the riches of his glory, and what is the immeasurable

  262. greatness of his power towards us who believe

  263. according to the workings of his great might.

  264. So, we can say that a believer is called to service,

  265. right? A believer is called to service And the

  266. service is worked, right? Through the power of

  267. God. He said, according to the working of his

  268. great might. So he said, verse 19, he said, and

  269. what is the immeasurable greatness of his power

  270. towards us who has believed, right? Who believed

  271. according to the workings of his great might,

  272. which he worked in Christ and when he raised

  273. him from the dead. So it means that there's a

  274. power at work. Right? There's a power at work

  275. in the believer that helps the believer to function

  276. effectively. So God has not just called us to

  277. know the hope of our calling, but there's a power

  278. that is at work in the believer. Amen. So we

  279. need to know that which is at work. And that

  280. is why this gift of the Spirit is important for

  281. us to function. It is for us to what? To function.

  282. The gift of spirit is for us to function and

  283. we need to know. Now, Romans 1, let's see other

  284. things apart from Ephesians 1. Let's see other

  285. things, other areas where Paul uses the word,

  286. the word spiritual. Actually, the word spiritual,

  287. we can write down by now, probably should have

  288. been said in one of the teachings or we know

  289. it before, is pneumaticus. The word spiritual

  290. is pneumaticus. P -N -E -U, right? P -N -E -U

  291. -M -A -T -I -K -O -S, right? P -N -E -U -M -A

  292. -T -I -K -O -S. So pneumaticus. And the word

  293. blessing there, of course, is eulogia, right?

  294. So spiritual blessings. In this context, it's

  295. eulogia that blessing is. So we want to know,

  296. right? Things that pertain to spirituals. I'm

  297. going to break down pneumaticus in subsequent

  298. time when I'm going to teach. But right now,

  299. that is just enough. So Romans 1 .11. Let's see.

  300. So in the spirit, it means that the believer

  301. has abundance of blessings. And we have seen

  302. Paul writing to the Ephesians and saying... This

  303. is all. The believer has this. And when I said

  304. that is salvation, and he crowned it all by saying

  305. the promised Holy Spirit, right? So let's follow

  306. up. Let's follow gradually. Now, in Romans 1,

  307. 11, which Pastor Victor read this as well during

  308. his teaching, he said, for I long to see that

  309. I may impart to you some spiritual gifts to strengthen

  310. you. Right? To strengthen you. So, other things

  311. that we can see also, right, is spiritual gifts.

  312. When it comes to the spiritual, the believer

  313. has spiritual gifts. He has spiritual gifts.

  314. So, these are things pertaining to the believer.

  315. So, of course, we are talking about spiritual

  316. in the context of the believer. So, the believer

  317. has spiritual gifts. And therefore, Paul says

  318. that I might impact on you. Some spiritual gifts,

  319. right? Why? To function and serve. That when

  320. they know the hope of their calling, right? They

  321. will be able to function. So spiritual gifts

  322. is one of the things that we see that Paul uses

  323. the word spiritual to explain. Romans 7 verse

    Romans 7:14

  324. 14. Romans 7 verse 14. For we know that the law

    Romans 7:14

  325. is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under

  326. sin. The law is what? Spiritual, right? So it

  327. means that the writings of the prophets, okay?

  328. The writings of prophets, the writings of Moses,

  329. right? Has a spiritual impact. It has something

  330. to do with the spirit of God. That the writings

  331. of the prophet Moses has something to do with

  332. the spirit of God. So it's spiritual. That is

  333. why he said the law is not evil, but the law

  334. is spiritual. It means that the law can impact

  335. spiritually. Right? The law can impact spiritually.

  336. When the law is explained correctly, the law

  337. has a spiritual impact in the life of the hearer

  338. of the law. All right. Romans 15, 27, still in

  339. Romans, Romans 15, 27. So we see spiritual gifts.

  340. We see the law is spiritual. So for they were

  341. pleased to do, they were pleased to do it. And

  342. indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles

  343. have come to share in their spiritual blessings,

  344. they ought also to be of service to them in material

  345. blessings. So here, we see spiritual blessings,

  346. right? It means that the Gentiles, those who

  347. are, they've not known the Lord before, unbelievers,

  348. right? They have come to partake in the spiritual

  349. blessings, right? And they also ought to do what?

  350. To be of service. Of course, here talking about

  351. in material blessings, right? Of course, he uses

  352. material blessings there to serve. So it means

  353. that being part of a spiritual blessing brings

  354. us towards service again. Brings us to service

  355. again. So we can say Gentiles are partakers of

  356. the spiritual blessings and therefore whosoever

  357. partake must serve, must minister to others.

  358. Whosoever partake of spiritual blessings must

  359. minister to others. Whosoever partake of spiritual

  360. blessings must minister to others. 1 Corinthians

  361. 1 Corinthians 2 .15. Can you go to 15? That same

  362. 1 Corinthians 2 .15. It's that a spiritual person

  363. judges all things, but is himself to be judged

  364. by no one. So a spiritual person's discernment,

  365. a spiritual person's discernment can judge. Right?

  366. Can judge. These are things that are still spiritual.

  367. Right? We don't find them in Ephesians 1 or we

  368. find them in... explicitly written like this,

  369. but we see that a spiritual person can judge.

  370. Right? So we look forward to understanding the

  371. things of the Spirit very well that we might

  372. be able to discern, to judge, to decide, to perceive.

  373. So a spiritual person can judge. 1 Corinthians

    1 Corinthians 3:1

  374. 3 verse 1. 1 Corinthians 3 verse 1. Let's move

    1 Corinthians 3:1

  375. a little bit faster. It's the brothers. I could

  376. not address you as spiritual people, but as people

  377. of the flesh, as infants in Christ. So spiritual

  378. is also used as a means of communication, right?

  379. We can say a mode of communication. I do not

  380. address you as spiritual. It means that the people

  381. who are spiritual believers, there's a way of

  382. communicating to them. So Paul had to address

  383. them as babies, as those who, as if they don't

  384. know the things of the spirits. Right? As if

  385. they don't know the things. So, as a communication

  386. within the spirit, there's a way we communicate

  387. spiritual things. There's a way we communicate.

  388. There's also a mode of communication that's spiritual,

  389. communicating spiritual. 1 Corinthians 10, 3

  390. and 4. 1 Corinthians 10, 3 and 4. Let's look

  391. at 1 Corinthians 10, 3 and 4, if you can help

  392. me. Go from verse 1, please. For I do not want

  393. you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers

  394. were all under the cloud and all passed through

  395. the sea and were all baptized into Moses in the

  396. cloud and in the sea and all ate the same spiritual

  397. food and all drank the same spiritual drink for

  398. they drank from the spiritual rock that followed

  399. them and that rock was Christ. Nevertheless,

  400. with most of them, God was not pleased for they

  401. were overthrown in the wilderness. Now, this

  402. is a good one to add a layer on the teaching

  403. about baptism, right? I think it was Pastor Victor

  404. that was teaching about baptism. Oh, Pastor Fred.

  405. Okay, it was Pastor Fred that was teaching about

  406. it. And talking about snow water baptism, right?

  407. So let's look at this. If to be baptized into

  408. Moses would mean to be dipped into water. Let's

  409. just... Touch upon that a little bit. So, and

  410. we're all baptized into Moses. So what would

  411. this mean? Can anybody try? To be baptized into

  412. Moses. Okay, what would baptism mean here, at

  413. least? To be a mass, right? To be a mass. So

  414. can we say to be a mass into Moses for a start?

  415. Don't worry, we'll explain Moses, right? To be

  416. baptized into Moses. Yes, we can say that. Now,

  417. when the scripture uses Moses, it's talking about

  418. what? The writings and the doctrine of Moses.

  419. Do we get it? So he said that they were immense

  420. in the teachings of prophet Moses. How do I know?

  421. Look at what he said. And they all ate. That's

  422. what? Spiritual food. They did what? They ate

  423. the same spiritual food. Oh, glory to God. The

  424. same spiritual food. And all drank the same spiritual

  425. drink. You see this same, this word same. I think

  426. we need to pay attention to it. We'll study it

  427. very well when it comes to the same spirits.

  428. Right? If we come to 1 Corinthians 12, you'll

  429. see the word from the same spirits. Here we see

  430. the same spiritual drink, the same spiritual

  431. food. And they drank from that. And they drank

  432. from the same spiritual drink. For they drank

  433. from the spiritual rock that followed them. And

  434. that rock was what? Christ. This is the explanation.

  435. Moses is teaching that he was feeding them with.

  436. Let me use this way so that we can understand.

  437. What Moses was feeding the Israelites with, right?

  438. Immensing them in his teachings. Everything he

  439. taught was about Christ. That is why the law

  440. is spiritual. Okay? That is why the law is spiritual.

  441. Because everything Moses taught them and fed

  442. them with was Christ. So if the spiritual drink

  443. is spiritual, the spiritual food is spiritual,

  444. the spiritual rock, then the writing that communicated

  445. that spiritual drink and rock, which is the law,

  446. is spiritual. Do we get it? So they were enjoying

  447. the teachings of Moses, so to say. Now let's

  448. see. He said that rock that followed them was

  449. what? Christ. So we know that rock. I think pastor

  450. dealt with that very well. Probably pre -cathartism

  451. or inter -cathartism. That rock was clearly explained.

  452. Now he said, nevertheless, verse five, with most

  453. of them, God was not pleased for they were overthrown

  454. in the wilderness. So although Moses was teaching,

  455. they were walking in what? Unbelief. Although

  456. Moses was teaching, They were walking in what?

  457. Unbelief. They said God was not pleased with

  458. them. Hebrews 11, right? Without what? Faith.

  459. No man can please God. That was for salvation

  460. for them, right? That was for salvation for them.

  461. So Hebrews 11, we can add that, right? We can

  462. add that because that helps us to clarify why

  463. God was not pleased with them. So, Hebrews 11

    Hebrews 11:6

  464. verse 6. It says, And without faith it is impossible

  465. to please Him. For whosoever will draw near to

  466. Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards

  467. those who seek Him. So, they did not believe.

  468. They did not receive salvation because they did

  469. not believe. And God was not pleased with them.

  470. Right? Good. Hallelujah. Are we blessed? We are

  471. receiving, right? Glory. So, we see that there

  472. is belief and God was not pleased. Now, let's

  473. now go to our key scripture, 1 Corinthians 12,

    1 Corinthians 12:1

  474. verse 1. I'll just read that. 1 Corinthians 12,

    1 Corinthians 12:1

  475. verse 1. And it says, now concerning spirituals,

  476. brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed.

  477. Concerning spirituals, actually, right? We're

  478. going to repeat it again. Actually, that word,

  479. there's no spiritual gift there. There's no gifts.

  480. We've emphasized that there's no gift. You have

  481. to use your insalina. You have to use your materials

  482. to check very well. Because what Moses communicated,

  483. sorry, yes, what Paul communicated rather here

  484. was starting from salvation to the gifts then

  485. to several ministerial offices that are in the

  486. church. Right? Paul started with, concerning

  487. spiritual, I don't want you to be ignorant. It

  488. means that everything pertaining spiritual, I

  489. don't want you to be ignorant about it. Right?

  490. So, if you see, that is why if you go down, you

  491. will see that he started, verse 3, he started

  492. saying that, therefore, I want you to understand

  493. that no one speaking of the Spirit ever says

  494. Jesus is a cause and no one can say Jesus is

  495. Lord except by the Spirit. That's born again,

  496. being born again. Right? So, Everything he wanted

  497. to write in this chapter was about spiritual,

  498. from being born again to the gift of the spiritual,

  499. administrations and ministries. But I think,

  500. right, when people read, when translators read

  501. the entire chapter, right, they realized that

  502. it was overemphasizing. I mean, this is my guess,

  503. right? Overemphasizing on gift and ministries

  504. and all of that. And they just speak because

  505. actually there is spiritual gifts. Because we

  506. say that this is not there, does not mean that

  507. there's nothing called spiritual gifts. There

  508. is spiritual gifts. which is what we are teaching.

  509. But we are saying that within this verse, right?

  510. That gift will be like, is like saying that I

  511. want to talk about Orange Hall, right? I want

  512. to tell you so many things on Orange Hall and

  513. this podium. I want to talk about Orange Hall

  514. and the stage. I don't need to say the stage

  515. again. Everything about Orange Hall, the stage

  516. includes it. Do we get it? So everything inside

  517. spiritual, the gift is also there. Service is

  518. also there. So that is why we always say this

  519. is not supposed to be included in that. So concerning

  520. spiritual, I'll have you not to be ignorant.

  521. So we have seen that the spiritual gifts, we

  522. have seen that spiritual encompasses all, right?

  523. Gifts, the law is spiritual. It also includes

  524. service, right? When we serve each other, it's

  525. spiritual, right? It also includes service. Now,

  526. We can say, you can write this down because some

  527. things I put them in bold here. The reality of

  528. the believer's blessings. The reality of the

  529. believer's blessing is more spiritual than physical.

  530. Okay? The reality of the believer's blessing

  531. is more spiritual than physical. We can put 2

  532. Corinthians 5 .16. It's more spiritual than physical,

  533. right? So I'm not nullifying that there will

  534. be material blessings. Don't forget, it's not

  535. because Gentiles have become particles of spiritual

  536. blessings. They can also what? Minister material

  537. needs. Do we get it? But the material need in

  538. the physical is not the primary. Okay? It's not

  539. the primary. Right? James will also say that

  540. if you have a brother in need and you do not

  541. support, right? How can you say you have the

  542. love of God in you? But what we are saying is

  543. that the spiritual is more spiritual. There is

  544. a limit to what you can get in the physical.

  545. Like from a brother. How much? How well? How

  546. big? Right? How beautiful can it be? It's nothing

  547. compared to the spiritual. There's nothing compared

  548. to the spiritual. So let's go. Now that we have

  549. talked about spiritual and I said it's actually

  550. things of things pertaining to the spirit, right?

  551. We've seen them. The law is something that pertains

  552. to the spirit and all of that. We need to understand

  553. the spirit first. Okay? We need to understand.

  554. So now we are heading towards understanding what

  555. is the spirit or who is the spirit, right? Who

  556. is the spirit? We are heading towards understanding

  557. the Spirit of God, right? Spirit. Because it's

  558. from the Spirit that we are spiritual, right?

  559. It's from the Spirit that we have the word spiritual.

  560. So we need to understand what the Spirit is or

  561. who the Spirit is. Genesis chapter 1. So let's

    Genesis 1 chapter mention

  562. start going. Genesis chapter 1. In the beginning.

    Genesis 1 chapter mention

  563. God created the heavens and the earth. The earth

  564. was without form and void. And darkness was over

  565. the face of the deep. And the spirit of God was

  566. hovering over the face of the waters. And God

  567. said, let there be light. Let there be light,

  568. Genesis 1. Now, what we want to do now is to

  569. check across. All that God was doing and is doing,

  570. how the Spirit has been functioning or how the

  571. Spirit has been the, how can I put it? The one

  572. executing, yes, that's the word, executing the

  573. plans. It's the one that is executing the plan

  574. and the Spirit itself is also the plan. Okay?

  575. So, Is the one, the spirit of God is the one

  576. executing the plan of God and the spirit itself

  577. is the plan. So that is what we want to check.

  578. That's why I started with Genesis. So what we

  579. will see in Genesis, right? I don't know if you

  580. have written that, that the spirit is the one

  581. executing the plan and the spirit itself is the

  582. plan, right? Is the plan. It's the plan of God

  583. across all time. So in all God was doing, we're

  584. going to see it in creation, in Christ, in what

  585. he said, promised in the life of people. It was

  586. the spirit that was working and the spirit was

  587. working to impact itself on men. Right. Amen.

  588. So Genesis 1. Now what we see there, right, is

  589. actually, is that the Spirit of God, and I think

  590. we have explained this before, that is Ruach

  591. Elohim. It's actually Ruach Elohim. It's actually

  592. the Spirit's God. Okay? It's actually the Spirit's

  593. God. This, you know, that is why, I think it

  594. was Pastor Fred that was teaching it as well,

  595. that the only way, Pastor Fred was saying that,

  596. the only way you can explain Trinity is only

  597. in salvation. Only. That is the way you, I mean,

  598. that thing called Trinity or the concept of Trinity.

  599. It's only, if you go out of that, it's, it's,

  600. it's nothing like you wouldn't get anything spiritual

  601. in that. You won't get anything spiritual. So.

  602. Here we see that it says the Spirit God. Of course,

  603. for English to be able to, for people to be able

  604. to read, sometimes they put off, they put these

  605. words there, but it is Ruach Elohim. So we can

  606. say the Spirit is what? Is who? God. The Spirit

  607. is God. It's not the idea of the Spirit was there

  608. in the beginning. God was there. Jesus was not

  609. there. There's nothing like that. Right? If you

  610. go back to John that says in the beginning was

  611. the world, that same world is still the spirit

  612. is Christ is God. So if you read the original,

  613. it says Ruach Elohim, which is and the spirit,

  614. God was hovering over the face of the waters.

  615. Right? So let's see. So it definitely means that

  616. we can say that and God said, let there be light.

  617. Right? Can we say the spirit said, let there

  618. be light. We can say that, right? The Spirit

  619. said, let there be light. Let there be light.

  620. Right? They put God there so we can have a continuation.

  621. Right? We have a continuation. Okay, we know

  622. this is the Spirit of God. Right? So, it's a

  623. let there be light. So, we can say that to reorder

  624. things and to put things in place is the function

  625. of the Spirit of God. to the other things and

  626. set things in place is the function of the spirit

  627. of God. So we have seen that the spirit is God

  628. and the function he started doing is to the other

  629. things and put things in place. So this is the

  630. descriptive work of the spirit from Genesis.

  631. The descriptive work of the spirit is to the

  632. other things. and put things in place. Now, if

  633. you have been following our teaching, right?

  634. And you have been attending some meetings, you

  635. would have seen, you would have understood that

  636. heaven and earth, right? We've talked about the

  637. union of God and man, right? Union of God and

  638. man. And we've seen chaos in verse two. So we

  639. can say that from Genesis one and two, Right?

  640. The work of the Spirit God, right? The work of

  641. the Spirit God is to put things in place in the

  642. life of men. We can say that. It's to order the

  643. life of men. It's to put things in place in the

  644. life of men. So we see that. We see that taking

  645. place. Genesis 1, 26. Since the Spirit, God,

  646. we identify that. Genesis 1, 26. The creation

  647. of man in his image and likeness is by the Spirit.

  648. The creation of man in his image and likeness

  649. is by the Spirit. Let us make man in our image

  650. after our likeness and let him have dominion.

  651. over the fish of the sea, and over the birds

  652. of the heavens, and over the livestock, and over

  653. all the earth, and over all creeping things that

  654. creeps on the earth. Let us make man, let's go

  655. back, in our own image, after our likeness. Just

  656. stay there first. You also go to 27. And we have

  657. been taught that this is Salem, right? The image.

  658. I was going to do that. We've seen that, Salem.

  659. Now go to 27. And I said, so God created man

  660. in his own image and the image of God, he what?

  661. He created he them. So we know that the creation,

  662. the new creation man or the man that God intends

  663. to create will be created by the spirit of God

  664. and in the spirit of God. The man that God will

  665. create will be created by the spirit of God In

  666. the spirit of God. You know this is why when

  667. they tell you that. In salvation you have no

  668. parts. It's after salvation you have a work to

  669. do. This is a clear explanation of that. That

  670. in the execution of the plan of saving man. It

  671. was the spirit. And he was giving you the spirit.

  672. And we'll come to that. So we see that. The plan

  673. of. The plan and work of the Spirit, right, is

  674. to create man in this image. And therefore, God

  675. would definitely walk through who? Through man.

  676. We've been seeing that from yesterday. God will

  677. walk through man. Man is the instrument of God.

  678. The one that would function for God. So you see

  679. here that the Spirit created man. So we've seen

  680. the Spirit. In Genesis 1, putting things in place.

  681. We've seen the same in Genesis 1, 26. Now, the

  682. next one is that what was being communicated

  683. across generation. Okay? So, we've seen creation

  684. of man. Now, this one is what was being communicated

  685. across generation was actually also the message

  686. of the Spirit. Right? So, We can say that the

  687. spirit was what was communicated from Genesis

  688. until Christ. Until Christ. So what we call God's

  689. plan, what we call what God wants to do, that

  690. he made known to Abraham and Abraham communicated

  691. to Jacob, sorry, communicated to Isaac and Jacob

  692. and Joseph is actually pertaining to the spirits.

  693. It's actually pertaining to, I know someone is

  694. saying, what of Jesus? The problem, wait, wait,

  695. relax. We'll get there, right? Like, is it not

  696. Jesus that was being communicated? We'll get

  697. there, right? The man Jesus, right? Don't rush.

  698. But take it this way, that it is the Spirit that

  699. was being communicated. We're going to see the

  700. function of the Spirit even in Christ's function.

  701. Even in the coming of Christ and in the death

  702. and resurrection of him. So we see that what

  703. was communicated across generation was about

  704. the giving of his spirit to generations. Let's

  705. start. Hebrews 11, 9 to 10. The person who received

  706. the promise himself. Hebrews 11, 9 to 10. of

  707. the same promise. What is this promise? For he

  708. was looking forward to a city that has foundations,

  709. whose designer and builder is the spirit. Right?

  710. It's God himself. So, which city, right, that

  711. the designer and the builder is God? We go to

  712. Genesis. What was God building in Genesis? Man.

  713. Right? God was building man. We can now see God

  714. is building men in Genesis. So from Genesis,

  715. we can see that God's let us create man. Don't

  716. forget that man is not talking about one man.

  717. Right? We want to create a people in our spirit.

  718. Right? And by our spirit. Right? So we want to

  719. create. So from Genesis, it was God wanted to

  720. create that city, a people, men. Right? Men that

  721. will carry his spirit. So what was Abraham looking

  722. up for? Abraham was looking forward to a people

  723. that will carry God's spirit. He was looking

  724. forward to the church, right? He was looking

  725. forward to a people that will carry God's spirit.

  726. So the city is a people filled with the spirit.

  727. City set upon a hill cannot be hidden. Yes. Now,

  728. Ezekiel 36, Ezekiel, okay, let's go to Numbers.

  729. You know, when you're teaching, right, it's always

  730. good to touch upon Moses. It's very good, right?

  731. Because there's a lot, right? There's a lot that

  732. every doctrine begins from Moses, right? The

  733. writings of Moses. So it's always good, you know,

  734. to go to that, right? It's the foundation of

  735. where most scriptures, every other scripture

  736. built upon. So we have to go. So we're taking

  737. just numbers. Numbers 11 verse 29. That was just

    Numbers 11:29

  738. clear. Right? Numbers 11 verse 29. I like the

    Numbers 11:29

  739. explicit, you know, the way it's just so explicit.

  740. But Moses said to him, are you jealous for my

  741. sake? Would that all the Lord's what? People.

  742. Would that all the Lord's people what? We are

  743. prophets. That the Lord will put what? His spirit

  744. on them. Did you see that? So God's desire across

  745. time is that his people will be filled with his

  746. spirit and they will prophesy. They will have

  747. utterance. That is God's plan at all time, for

  748. all time. That all his people will have a spirit

  749. and they will speak. They will speak. Ezekiel

  750. 36, 24 to 27. Ezekiel 36, 24 to 27. We have seen

  751. Abraham. We have seen Moses. I will take you

  752. from the nations and gather you from all the

  753. countries and bring you into your own land. I

  754. will sprinkle clean water on you and you shall

  755. be clean from all uncleanness. And from all your

  756. idols, I will cleanse you. Then I will give you

  757. a new heart and a new spirit. I will what? I

  758. will put within you. Stop there. Don't move,

  759. right? He said, I will remove the heart of stone

  760. from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh,

  761. right? I will remove the heart of stone from

  762. your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. So,

  763. what was communicated before about cleansing

  764. them from their idols is made clear here by saying,

  765. I will give my spirit. Right? I will give my

  766. spirit. So we see here that it's about giving

  767. the spirit, right? And this will cause them to

  768. have a new heart. 27. Let's see. And I'll put

  769. my spirit more clearly. I'll put my spirit within

  770. you and cause you to walk in my status and be

  771. careful to obey my words, my rules, my status,

  772. right? Good. So we have seen that you can put

  773. Joel 2, 28 to 29. Joel 2, 28, 29. So we can see

  774. across, it has been about the spirit of God.

  775. draw to 28, and it shall come to pass that I

  776. will pour out my Spirit again, the giving of

  777. Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters

  778. shall prophesy. Your old men shall dream dreams,

  779. and your young men shall see what visions, spirits,

  780. for prophesying, right? They will prophesy, similar

  781. to Numbers 11, 29. Similar to Numbers 11, 29.

  782. Now, I've been saying the Spirit, the Spirit,

  783. the Spirit. Where does Christ come in? Right?

  784. Where does Christ come in? Because you begin

  785. to ask, is the Spirit not Christ? Yes, it is.

  786. Now, let's check. Can we write this down? We

  787. can write this down. I'm going to a little bit

  788. dictate. The work of the Spirit in man. The work

  789. of the Spirit in man. became the promise. Okay.

  790. Became the promise. The walk of the spirit in

  791. man became the promise. Then we can open brackets.

  792. I'm going to put that. The promised spirits.

  793. Okay. The promised spirits would be given by

  794. the promised Messiah. So there are two things

  795. here. There's a promised Messiah, there's a promised

  796. spirit. The Bible across scripture has seen promised

  797. spirit and promised Messiah, right? So that Messiah

  798. is talking about God's incarnation, like God

  799. in human form. So there's something God will

  800. come and do in the body that would make his spirit

  801. be able to dwell in men. So the promised spirit

  802. would be, right, from the promised Messiah. The

  803. promised Messiah is also the Spirit. The promised

  804. Messiah is also the Spirit and God in the man

  805. Jesus. The promised Messiah is also the Spirit

  806. and God in the man Jesus. So what this simply

  807. means, we're going to try to put some scriptures

  808. across it, is that God promised the Spirit. But

  809. the coming up, I think the scripture I should

  810. just put there is John 14. Just put John 14 there.

  811. Because everything explained in John 14, which

  812. we are going to see, is actually pertaining,

  813. right? It's actually in relations to God giving

  814. his promised spirit. And who was communicating?

  815. The promised Messiah, right? The promised Messiah,

  816. which is Christ himself, was communicating. And

  817. he himself is God. So John 14, we see that. We

  818. can put John 1, 1 as well. John 1, 1. We can

  819. put John 1, 1 there as well. Which communicates

  820. Jesus as God and the spirits. It said in the

  821. beginning was the word and the word was with

  822. God and the word was God. It was in the beginning.

  823. And all things were made through him. Without

  824. him was not anything made that was made, right?

  825. So he was in the beginning. The word was God.

  826. So in body, we identify God as who? As Jesus,

  827. right? We identify him as Christ. So we have

  828. that. Now let's see that even in the coming of

  829. Christ, the spirit functioned. Right? Even the

  830. coming of Christ, the spirit function. Matthew

    Matthew 1:18

  831. 1, verse 18. In the coming of Messiah, the spirit

  832. function. Matthew 1, verse 18. Of course, we

    Matthew 1:18

  833. have seen that the spirit was prophesied. Of

  834. course, prophesied through his prophet. Matthew

    Matthew 1:18

  835. 1, verse 18. Let's touch upon a little bit of

  836. some things here. Matthew 1, verse 18. It said,

    Matthew 1:18

  837. now the bed of Jesus took place in the way. In

  838. this way, when his mother Mary had been betrothed

  839. to Joseph, before they came together, she was

  840. found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.

  841. She was found to be. And her husband Joseph,

  842. being a just man and unwilling to put her to

  843. shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. Are we

  844. together? So what was Joseph trying to do? To

  845. let her go what? Quietly. Not to put her in an

  846. open shame. Therefore, it means that that word

  847. found is not that they catch Mary like people

  848. caught her with a baby. It's not like, oh, they

  849. have now caught. No. It shows you that nobody

  850. knew, but Joseph was aware. Right? So it's not

  851. catching somebody in the act of something. That

  852. word found is to come upon. And I'll tell us

  853. the word, right? That word found, she was found

  854. with a child by the Spirit, is to come upon.

  855. So let's see. So the word is Eurisko. H -E -U

  856. -R -I -S -K -O. The word found is Eurisko. H

  857. -E -U -R -I -S -K -O. Found. Which means the

  858. first divination tells you to come upon. To do

  859. what? To come upon. Now, a word was used, right?

  860. So you are a student of English. You know, there

  861. can be a word and there can be a phrase that

  862. explains the word, right? There's a word and

  863. there can be a phrase that explains the word.

  864. So you see that you use a word for something

  865. or you use a phrase, right? Some of us in our

  866. writings, we summarize all the statements we

  867. are making into one word. So here, a word is

  868. used to explain to come upon, Eurisco. How do

  869. I know it's come upon? The scriptures will explain

  870. itself. Luke 1, 25. Luke 1, 26 to 35. Luke 1,

    Luke 1:26

  871. verse 26. And her husband being a just man. No,

  872. that's not it. Luke 1, 26. In the sixth month,

  873. the angel Gabriel was sent from God to the city

  874. of Galilee, named Nazareth. So a virgin betrothed

  875. to a man whose name was Joseph. Of the house

  876. of David. And the virgin's name was Mary. And

  877. he came to her and said. Greetings all favored

  878. one. The Lord is with you. And she was greatly.

  879. The Lord. Sorry. My scriptures. The Lord. Which

  880. verse are you reading? Can you go back to 26?

  881. Let's start from 26 again. Luke 1 26. I'm going

  882. to switch to my scriptures. All right. Let me

  883. use hard copy. Technology can be challenging.

  884. All right, 26. In the sixth month, the sixth

  885. month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to

  886. a city, right, of Galilee and named Nazareth

  887. to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was

  888. Joseph and of the house of David and the virgin's

  889. name was Mary. And he came to her and said, greetings,

  890. O favored one. The Lord is with you. But she

  891. was greatly troubled at the same. and tried to

  892. discern what sort of greeting this might be.

  893. And the angel said to her, do not be afraid,

  894. Mary, for you have found favor with God and behold,

  895. you will conceive. Look at the communication.

  896. Of course, in Matthew, they also said conceive.

  897. I'm going to come to conceive, right? He said,

  898. behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear

  899. a son and you shall call his name Jesus and it

  900. will be great and will be called the son of the

  901. most high. and the Lord God will give him the

  902. throne of his father David, and it will reign

  903. over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom

  904. there shall be no end. Verse 35, 34 rather. Mary

  905. said to the angel, how will this be? Saying that

  906. words, since I am a virgin, means since I knew

  907. no man. Do you know why she asked that question?

  908. Do you know why she asked that question? She

  909. asked the question. Because of the way the angel

  910. communicated it. Right? So if you go to Matthew

  911. 18, just hold on to Luke. Go to Matthew 18. Sorry,

  912. Matthew 1. Matthew 1. I just want to show us

  913. that it's the spirit actually that came upon

  914. Mary and Jesus appeared in her womb. That is

  915. what happened. So look at verse 22. Before verse

  916. 22, go to verse... Verse 20, but as he considered

  917. these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared

  918. to him in a dream saying, Joseph, son of David,

  919. do not fear to take Mary as your wife. For that

  920. which is conceived in our home is from the Holy

  921. Spirit. You know why the angel communicated conceived

  922. to him? Because that is what he could understand.

  923. Did you get it? That is what Joseph could understand.

  924. He could not understand. Spirit come upon her

  925. and she has a child. He couldn't. So in dreams,

  926. and we've said it, in dreams and visions, right?

  927. They communicate what you know, what you can

  928. relate to. Then you have to understand the spiritual

  929. implication of it. Of course, Peter was in a

  930. vision, right? And in that vision, something

  931. was opened. And Peter could only relate them

  932. as unclean things. So the communication of that

  933. angel was for understanding of Joseph. Do we

  934. get it? Now, when you now come to Luke, the part

  935. that Matthew did not record, Luke now opened

  936. up. And I said, even Mary was told that she will

  937. conceive. And she asked, because conception means

  938. you need a man to be involved in that. And this

  939. is the way you can communicate to man. So they

  940. used the physical to try to explain something

  941. supernatural to them. But Mary, not that she

  942. believed, but she was wondering how it would

  943. take place. Now look at what the angel now said.

  944. The angel used the phrase of Eurisco. He said,

  945. the Holy Spirit, verse 35, will do what? Will

  946. come upon you. So since I've explained this and,

  947. you know, it's physical and you want to really

  948. know how it will take place, the Holy Spirit

  949. will come upon you. Right? And the power of the

  950. most that will do what? Will overshadow you.

  951. Therefore, as a result, the child, therefore

  952. the child to be born will be called the Holy.

  953. One, right? We call the holy, the son of God.

  954. Now, this is, okay? Let me say something. This

  955. is the same way the Holy Spirit comes upon the

  956. prophets and they prophesy. When the Holy Spirit

  957. comes upon the prophet, then they prophesy, right?

  958. They reveal God's mind, right? So people can

  959. understand it in the physical, right? They can

  960. understand what God is doing. The same way he

  961. came upon her and Christ appeared. The incarnation

  962. took place by the Spirit coming upon. So the

  963. revelation of God those days takes place when

  964. the Spirit comes upon a person. The revelation

  965. of God in those days takes place when the Spirit

  966. comes upon a person. Christ was revealed. Christ

  967. appeared by the coming upon of the Holy Spirit

  968. on Mary. So it is come upon. So a phrase was

  969. used in Luke and the word Jerusalem was used

  970. in Matthew. I think we'll just keep that. Let's

  971. move to the next one. So we can see that in the

  972. incarnation, the Spirit was at work, right? The

  973. Spirit was at work. Now, in the offering of Christ,

  974. the Spirit was also at work. In the resurrection

  975. of Christ, the Spirit was at work. In the offering

  976. of Christ, The Spirit was at work. And in the

  977. resurrection of Christ, the Spirit was also at

  978. work. So there was nothing God did on earth without

  979. the Spirit in men functioning. Alright, so Hebrews

    Hebrews 9:14

  980. 9 verse 14. Hebrews 9 verse 14. How much more

    Hebrews 9:14

  981. will the blood of Christ who through the eternal

  982. Spirit Offered himself without blemish to God.

  983. Purify our conscience from dead works to do what?

  984. To serve the living God. How much more? With

  985. the blood of Christ. Who through the eternal

  986. spirit offered him. So it means that Christ gave

  987. up the life by the spirit. John 10 verse 18.

    John 10:18

  988. No one can take my life. I lay down, right? So

  989. he laid his heart, he laid his life down. He

  990. said, no one can take it from me, but I lay it

  991. down of my own accord. I have the authority to

  992. take it. I have authority to lay it down. I have

  993. authority to take it up. This charge I have received

  994. from my father, right? I have authority to lay

  995. it down and I have authority to take it up. So

  996. we see that in the death and resurrection of

  997. Christ, the spirit was at work. The spirit was

  998. at work. Romans 8 verse 11. This is to tell you

    Romans 8:11

  999. how important it is that we must understand the

1000. spirits and spirituals. That in the death and

1001. resurrection of Christ, the spirit was also at

1002. work. Romans 8 verse 11. You can add that to

    Romans 8:11

1003. it. Romans 8 verse 11. If the spirit of him who

    Romans 8:11

1004. raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He

1005. who raised Christ from the dead will also give

1006. life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit

1007. who dwells in you. So it's like saying the Spirit

1008. who raised Christ from the dead, right, will

1009. also strengthen you, right? The same Spirit who

1010. raised Christ from the dead, he who raised Christ

1011. from the dead will also give life to your mortal

1012. bodies through his Spirit. So the same Spirit

1013. will give life to you. So the Spirit was at work

1014. at resurrection. Amen. Okay. So we can write

1015. down. Therefore, the believer, therefore, the

1016. believer being spiritual lives and function continually

1017. by the spirits. We can say, therefore, the believer

1018. being spiritual must live and function continually

1019. by the Spirit. Must live and function continually

1020. by the Spirit of God. Live and function continually

1021. by the Spirit of God to continue God's purpose

1022. on earth. So he didn't stop at resurrection.

1023. Being spiritual lives and functions continually

1024. by the Spirit of God to continue God's purpose

1025. on earth. From the beginning until now, God's

1026. spirit has been functioning, right? So that it

1027. is also to replicate what he has done in us,

  1028. in others. 2 Corinthians 1 verse 19 to 20. 2

    2 Corinthians 1:19–20 2 Corinthians 1:19–20

  1029. Corinthians 1 verse 19 to 20. 2 Corinthians 1

    2 Corinthians 1:19

1030. verse 19. For the son of God, Jesus. whom we

1031. proclaim among you, Silvanus and Timothy and

1032. I, was not yes and no, but in him it is always

1033. yes. For all the promises of God find their yes

1034. in him. That is why through him, I just want

1035. me to, I like to read from my Bible because I

1036. put something somewhere. So it says, for all

1037. the promises of God, right? Go to verse 20 again.

1038. All promises of God find their yes in him. That

1039. is why it is through him that we utter our amen

1040. and for the glory of God. And it is God who establishes

1041. us with you in Christ and has anointed us and

1042. has also put the seal on us and given us the

1043. spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. From verse

1044. 19, you will see it says, for the son of God,

1045. right here, they say Jesus Christ, whom we proclaim

1046. among you. Right? So follow the thoughts. For

1047. the son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaim

1048. among you. Silvanus, Paul, and I, right? Then

1049. he now says, verse 20, for all the promises of

1050. God find their yes in Christ. Right? All the

1051. promises of God find their yes in him. He said,

1052. that is why It is through Christ that we utter

1053. our amen to the glory of God. And it is God who

1054. established us with you in Christ and has anointed

1055. us. And what has he done? He has given us his

1056. earnest spirit. So all God's promises, yes and

1057. amen, is giving you his earnest of a spirit.

1058. Of course, we have said that he doesn't stop

1059. that you will function, but it is that you would

1060. have God's spirit within you. So this is God's

1061. plan. Amen. All right now, so let's go to John

1062. 14 because John 14 is where we will find a little

1063. more details and it will lead us into 1 Corinthians

  1064. actually 12. So John 14, John 14, since it's

1065. God's promise for us, just go to John 14 and

1066. I'll touch upon a few things there. John 14,

1067. because in John 14, it is where Christ himself,

1068. right? The promised Messiah communicated the

1069. promised spirits. Okay. This is where the promised

1070. Messiah communicated the promised spirit, communicated

1071. the giving of the promised spirit. So first,

1072. we need to understand John's writing, which I

1073. want to believe here now we are used to, we understand

1074. John's writing, but we still have to explain

1075. it. Now, John wrote, right? He wrote in a manner

1076. that reflects, right? He wrote in a manner that

1077. reflects an understanding of what God did for

1078. the believer, not what God will do for the believer.

1079. Okay? So John wrote in a manner, as one who understood

1080. what God did for the believer, what God, you

1081. know, did for us, right? Not just what God would

1082. do, as the Matthew, Mark Luke communicated, right?

1083. So Matthew, Mark Luke communicated these things

1084. as things to come. John communicated it as a

1085. present reality, although he was writing certain

1086. things as if they were ongoing. Are you following?

1087. John was writing certain things as if they were

1088. ongoing, but the way he wrote it, let's go to

1089. John. Let's go to John chapter two. Let's go

1090. to John chapter two. Just read something there.

1091. John chapter two, verse 22. So John started writing

1092. from, chapter two. And when you read it, you

1093. would think he's writing something that is ongoing,

1094. but it's actually something that has taken place

1095. and he's speaking revelation from it, right?

1096. It would tell explanation and it would give you

1097. the revelation. Now verse 22 says, when therefore

1098. it was raised from the dead, his disciples remember

1099. that he said this and they believe what? The

1100. scriptures. The word of Jesus, the word that

1101. Jesus had spoken. Now this is not the only part

1102. where John did this. John actually wrote, when

1103. he writes, after he would say, okay, he would

1104. write an explanation. As if in the present tense

1105. of while he's writing. So it's like saying that

1106. I'm telling you a story, right? I'm telling you

1107. a story that has not ended. Okay. But before

1108. the story gets to the place where it ended, I

1109. started including. The way the people understood

1110. the story at every scene and every episode. Do

1111. you get it? So John is writing a story. But after

1112. each episode, it tells you the revelation of

1113. that episode. It tells you what people got from

1114. that episode. It tells you the moral lesson before

1115. it gets to the end of the story. Right? That

1116. is the way it was coming. Because it was communicating

1117. revelation. So John was writing what Jesus did

1118. for us. rather than more of a historical account.

1119. So we can write a few things that he communicated

1120. before we move to John 14. We can write a few

1121. things that John communicated before we move

  1122. to John 14. First, John 1, verse 3. John 1, verse

    John 1:3 John 1:3

  1123. 3. 1 Corinthians 8, verse 6. We just write John

    1 Corinthians 8:6 John 1:3

  1124. 1, verse 3. 1 Corinthians 8, verse 6. puts an

    1 Corinthians 8:6

1125. hyphen, creation by Christ, right? Creation by

1126. Christ, creation by him. So he's talking about

1127. how God created. So from that verse three, he

1128. already said, all things were made through him

1129. and without him was not anything made that was

1130. made, right? So without him was not anything

1131. made that was made. Go to 1 Corinthians 8 verse

1132. six. 1 Corinthians 8 verse 6. So creation. Yet

    1 Corinthians 8:6

1133. for us, there is only one God, the Father, from

1134. whom all things and for whom we exist. And one

1135. Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things

1136. and through whom we exist. Just stay there. Just

1137. write it. You see, it's a from whom are all things

1138. and from whom we exist. One Lord, right? So it's

1139. talking about creation of us. We exist from him.

1140. So this corroborates John, right? Explaining

1141. all things came to be through him. If you continue

1142. to read John chapter one, verse 12 to 14. Verse

1143. one, 12 to 14. But to her who did receive him,

1144. who believed in him, he did what? He gave. So

1145. creation, we see that. We also see that he gave

1146. the authority to become the children. Of God.

1147. Right? Matthew was not writing this. Matthew

1148. was writing. How Jesus by the flesh. Right? Came

1149. from the line of Abraham. Right? Because. Of

1150. course. Because of his audience. Right? To convince

1151. them. But. John was writing straight up. He gave

1152. them to become. The children. Of God. Right?

1153. Go to verse. The next verse. Who were born not

1154. of blood. Of. Of the will of the flesh. Nor of

1155. the will of man. but of God, which has been born

1156. again. And the word became flesh and blood among

1157. us. And we have seen his glory, the glory of

1158. the only son from the father, full of grace and

1159. truth. Next. John bore witness about him and

1160. cried out. This is the one whom I said, he comes

1161. after me, he who comes after me, rams before

1162. me because he was before me. From, for from his

1163. fullness, we have all received what? Grace upon

1164. grace. We have received grace upon grace. Next.

1165. The next verse, please. For the Lord was given

1166. through Moses grace and truth came through Jesus.

1167. No one has ever seen God. The only God who is

1168. at the father's side, he has made him known.

1169. So we have, we're created by him. We have authority

1170. to become children. We have, what do we see here?

1171. Knowledge, revelation of God. Revelation of God.

1172. Revelation of God. So we see creation. We see

1173. authority to become children. We see grace and

1174. we see revelation of God. Right? If we proceed,

1175. John 3 verse 3, right? John chapter 3. Just put

John 3:3 John 3 chapter mention

1176. John chapter 3. We don't need to read it. We

    John 3 chapter mention

1177. see that he gave eternal life. John started talking

1178. about eternal life from chapter 3. Right? Started

1179. talking about eternal life. John chapter 3. Eternal

    John 3 chapter mention

1180. life through his son. Right? Eternal life through

1181. his son. John chapter seven, John chapter seven,

1182. verse 37 to 39. Again, John communicated. On

1183. the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus

1184. stood up and cried out. If anyone says, let him

1185. come to me and drink. Whosoever believes in me,

1186. as the scripture has said, out of his heart,

1187. out of his belly, will flow rivers of living

1188. water. Right? Out of his belly will flow rivers

1189. of living water. Now we see, next verse, please

1190. just read the next verse. I'll use the next verse

1191. to explain. Now this is said, do you see another

1192. way that John is writing? He's already, he's

1193. explaining. Now he said about the spirit in whom

1194. those who believe in him were to receive. For

1195. as yet the Spirit had not yet been what? Given,

1196. because Jesus was not yet what? Glorified. Giving

1197. another moral lesson before the end of, because

1198. he was not actually writing a story. The reality,

1199. he wasn't writing a story. He was actually explaining

1200. events and showing the revelation of Christ.

1201. That's why he keeps using this pattern of writing.

1202. So what we see is that John already expressed

1203. everything that we have in Christ. Explain everything

1204. that we have in Christ. Therefore, can we read

1205. Ephesians? John 12, just one more scripture in

1206. John. John 12, 35 to 36. How John tied it. How

1207. is John well tied to the epistles? John 12, 35.

1208. And Jesus said to them, the light is among you

1209. for a little while. For a little while longer.

1210. Walk while you have what? The light. Let darkness

1211. overtake you. The one who walks in darkness does

1212. not know where he is going. The next verse. While

1213. you have the light, believe what's in the light

1214. and you may become what's sons of light. Do you

1215. know the scripture that parallels this? Ephesians

    Ephesians 5:8

1216. 5 verse 8. Ephesians. This is almost like directly

1217. from Ephesians 5 verse 8. You know, sometimes

    Ephesians 5:8

1218. I feel. John actually read some epistles, probably

1219. had some access to it because he was actually

1220. writing so much of those things. Yeah, because

1221. his writing was late, almost the last that was

1222. written. So Ephesians, where's Ephesians 5 verse

    Ephesians 5:8

1223. 8? For at one time you were what? Darkness. And

1224. now you are what? Light in the Lord. Walk as

1225. what? Children of light. Right? Using the concept

1226. of light. So we see that John had actually written

1227. to explain all that we have in Christ. Now let's

1228. see. Let's move a little bit faster. So John

1229. 14 now. Now we can now settle in John 14. We

1230. can now settle in John 14. John 14. John 14.

1231. From verse one, right? Let's pick up from verse

1232. one. He said, let not your heart be troubled.

1233. Believe in God. Believe also in me. In my father's

1234. house are many rooms. If it were not so, I would

1235. have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

1236. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I'll

1237. come again and take you to myself. And where

1238. I am, you may also be, right? And you know the

1239. way to where I am going. Now, we've explained

1240. this over and over and over and I don't want

1241. you to get tired of it, okay? You don't get tired

1242. of it because it must sink very well, right?

1243. It must sink very well in us. So, just to do

1244. a quick test, what is the word father's house?

1245. What does the father's house refer to? I don't

1246. want Greek word. I want English word. What does

1247. the father's house refer to? Household, right?

1248. God's family, right? So yes, God's family. Then,

1249. what does rooms refer to? Rooms. What does rooms

1250. refer to? Dwelling place, right? Dwelling place.

1251. A place where people dwell, right? Room. Places

1252. where people... Places that need to be occupied,

1253. positions that need to be occupied, right, in

1254. Christ. So, if you pay attention consistently

1255. to how it's being written, many rooms, if it

1256. were not so, I would not have, if it were not

1257. so, would I have told you that I go to prepare

1258. a place for you? So, another word for that room

1259. is place, okay? It's a place in Christ, a room

1260. in Christ, right? a place in Christ, a room in

1261. Christ. All he was doing was explaining for that,

1262. right? Explaining for that what he would do.

1263. And as I go to prepare a place for you, verse

1264. three, and I will come again and take you to

1265. myself. And that's where I am. You may also be.

1266. So Jesus is saying that I'm preparing a place

1267. through me and in me. That's what Jesus is saying.

1268. I'm preparing a place through me because I go

1269. and in me. I'm preparing this place through me

1270. and in me. I will prepare the place and that

1271. place is in me. That place is in me. Now, after

1272. Jesus has said he's going to prepare a place,

1273. right? And it says that place is in him. Why

1274. did he not begin to communicate something as

1275. if he's different in verse 15? Because if you

1276. tell me that you will create a place for us to,

1277. you know, to lodge, right? We'll have an outing.

1278. We are lodging there. Jinnah said, you will leave

1279. me, right? You will leave me. Then you will send

1280. some, Okay, let me not say someone, but you sent,

1281. you communicated something to me that you will

1282. send something or someone to be with me, right?

1283. It looks like two different communication. It

1284. looks like two different communication. So I

1285. said it will be with them here, right? And we'll

1286. be together. Of course, he communicated, we will

1287. be together with the father. But in verse 15,

1288. he now said, if you love me, you will keep my

1289. commandment and I'll ask the father and he will

1290. give you another helper. And I think Pastor Yifan

1291. dealt with this as well. Another helper, we know

1292. that another helper is not another being. Let

1293. me show you something to tell you that the helper,

1294. the Father, the Spirit is God. John 10. Let me

1295. show you something. In John 10 verse 30, the

    John 10:30

1296. Father, the Spirit, the communication, Christ

1297. was talking about God. I was talking about himself,

1298. right? So I was asking, I said, why did Jesus

1299. speak like a second person communication? Right?

1300. Is we that is even reading it a second person

1301. communication? Let me show you what the Jews

1302. understood when Jesus was talking. John 10 verse

    John 10:30

  1303. 30. Before you go to John 10 verse 30, let's

    John 10:30

1304. start with verse 25. Verse 25. And Jesus answered

1305. them. I told you and you do not believe. Right?

1306. And you do not believe. The works I do, the works

1307. that I do in my father's name, bear witness about

1308. me. But you do not believe because you are not

1309. among my sheep. My sheep hear my voice and I

1310. know them and they follow me. I give them eternal

1311. life and they will never perish. And no one will

1312. snatch them from my hand. My father who has given

1313. them to me is greater than all, and no one will

1314. be able to snatch them out of my hand. I and

1315. the father are what? I and the father are one.

1316. So he's talking about himself and talking about

1317. what he will do for us. Now, what did the Jews

1318. did? The Jews picked up stones again to stone

1319. him. Jesus answered, I have shown you many works

1320. from the Father. For which of them are you going

1321. to stone me? Now listen to their response. They

1322. just answered, it is not for a good work that

1323. we are stoning you. They want to justify why

1324. they want to stone him. It is not for a good

1325. work. So why? That we are going to stone you.

1326. But for what? Blasphemy. Look at their definition

1327. of blasphemy, right? Because you being a man,

1328. you make yourself what? God. You being man, make

1329. yourself what? God, right? So it means that when

1330. Jesus was communicating, I and the father are

1331. one, right? He was communicating that it was

1332. God. He was communicating that it was God. But

1333. why were they not on this? Why is he using such

1334. kind of a form of communication? Because the

1335. Jews understand father as Yahweh as well. They

1336. understand this source called father as John.

1337. So if you say you are father and the father and

1338. you are one, then you have said that you are

1339. God. And therefore it's blasphemy. They would

1340. raise a stone to that. So when Jesus was communicating

1341. back to 14 now, so he's talking about him creating

1342. a place in himself, right? And true himself.

1343. So in 15, he now said he's going to send another

1344. comforter, right? Another helper. which my scripture

1345. use helper, to be with you forever. It therefore

1346. means, right? Let me read one more. Let me read

1347. one more in this verse 14. To corroborate John

    John 10:30

1348. 10 verse 30 about the concept of the father.

1349. John 14 verse 8. It said, Philip said to him,

    John 14:8

1350. Lord, show us who? The father. And it is what?

1351. It is enough. It therefore means that these people

1352. have the mind of someone called father. God is

1353. a revelation of the father. So he's also a Jew,

1354. right? And you have the Jewish people stoning

1355. Jesus because he said he is the father, more

1356. or less. Right? That is the communication he

1357. passed to them. So Philip now said, show us the

1358. father. And Jesus was amazed. Like, ah. Have

1359. you been with me for this long? And you don't

1360. know that me and the father are one. I should

1361. communicate what I communicated to the Pharisees

1362. to you also. So it definitely reflect that Jesus

1363. was talking about himself. Now, how will he,

1364. right? How will he dwell in us? He's going to

1365. dwell in us through his own spirits, right? And

1366. that is why verse 15 came. He said, if you love

1367. me, keep my commandment and I will ask the Father

1368. to give you another helper that will be with

1369. you forever, right? Because Jesus will not be

1370. on earth forever in body, right? He's not going

1371. to be on earth forever. So he communicated to

1372. them that another helper, not another helper

1373. as an alternative, right? I think we saw that,

1374. that he's actually talking about the same spirits,

1375. the same spirits. The same spirit, he's talking

1376. about the same spirit, which is the word allos

1377. paracletos, right? We heard that many times,

1378. allos paracletos, which is the same spirit. And

1379. what is this same spirit? That same spirit that

1380. we have been talking about from what? From Genesis

1381. is that same spirit. That same spirit that we

1382. trace to the resurrection of Christ is the same

1383. spirit that what? That will abide with them forever.

1384. Do we get it? So it's not another spirit from

1385. somewhere. But that same spirit that we have

1386. consistently traced, seen functioning, is the

1387. same spirit that will dwell in us. That same

1388. spirit will dwell in us. And that spirit is called

1389. the spirit of Christ. Do you know why it's called

1390. the spirit of Christ? Right? It's called the

1391. spirit of Christ because it is a spirit that

1392. is given for first, forever. You see it here.

1393. He said that spirit will be with you forever.

1394. Then it is a spirit that is given after resurrection.

1395. Right? So it's the spirit of Christ. It means

1396. that after what Christ has done, this spirit

1397. now abides with men forever. So anywhere you

1398. see the spirit of Christ, it means that after

1399. Christ has done, right? Because he said, I have

1400. to go and I'll come again. And I'll take it to

1401. her. So it means that the spirit of Christ referred

1402. to, right? The giving of the spirit after all

1403. that the Messiah has done to be with men forever.

1404. Don't forget, we've been talking about the spirit

1405. upon, right? We talked about upon, I mean, upon

1406. Mary and upon the prophets, right? We talk about

1407. upon Mary and upon the prophet. So here is now

1408. a spirit that will stay with them forever. So

1409. can we say that this believer is always spiritual

1410. because we have the spirit of God? Yes. The believer

1411. is always spiritual. There's no time you say,

1412. oh, I'm not spiritual today. I'm not feeling

  1413. spiritual. Tomorrow, I don't feel it. Or they'll

1414. tell you, come and do certain spiritual activities

1415. like praying in tongues. You say, no. So there,

1416. I don't feel it. There's nothing like that. You

1417. cannot say you are not feeling it. You are always

1418. spiritual. Because they said, the Allos Paracletos

1419. will stay with you forever. Forever. So can we

1420. say that the things of the Spirit can always

1421. be exercised by the believer? Yes. Yes. The things

1422. of the Spirit can always be exercised by The

1423. believer. So there are no seasons and time that

1424. the believer is not spiritual. There are no seasons

1425. and time that the believer cannot function in

1426. the gift of the spirit. Amen. There are no seasons

1427. and time that a believer cannot judge. You cannot

1428. be confused because you are spiritual. You can

1429. judge. You can perceive. You can understand by

1430. the spirit because you are always spiritual.

1431. You have the spirit ever with you. This spirit

1432. that Jesus promised to be ever with us, right?

1433. We can put it, it's called the indwelling. It's

1434. called the indwelling. Right? Not upon, but the

1435. indwelling of the spirits. It's called the indwelling

1436. of the spirits. The indwelling of the spirits.

1437. The indwelling of the spirits. John chapter 3.

    John 3 chapter mention

1438. Let's just touch upon John chapter 3 a little

    John 3 chapter mention

1439. bit. John chapter 3. John chapter 3. John chapter

John 3 chapter mention John 3 chapter mention John 3 chapter mention

1440. 3. Verse 5. Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say

1441. to you, unless a man is born of water and the

1442. Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. that

1443. which is born of the flesh is flesh, that which

1444. is born of the spirit is spirit. Do you marvel

1445. that I said to you, you must be born again? The

1446. wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound,

1447. but you do not know where it comes from or where

1448. it goes. So it sees with everyone who is born

1449. of the spirits. Nicodemus said to him, how can

1450. these things be? So Jesus answered, are you a

1451. teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand

1452. these things? Now, just wait there. So the communication

1453. was that you have to be born of the Spirit. And

1454. this is what Jesus was saying, that you must

1455. have the indwelling, the Spirit in you. Okay?

1456. So this is what Jesus was communicating, that

1457. the Spirit of God would be in you, means you

1458. will have the Spirit of God in you. And he was

1459. saying that, are you a teacher of the law and

1460. you do not understand these things, means that,

1461. read the next one. Verse 11, let's go to verse

1462. 11. So truthfully, I say to you, we speak what

1463. we know, we bear witness to what we have seen,

1464. but you do not receive our testimony. The next,

1465. I have told you earthly things and you do not

1466. believe. How can you believe if I tell you heavenly

1467. things? No one has ascended to heaven except

1468. the one who descended, the son of man. And as

1469. Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,

1470. so the son of man must be lifted up. that whosoever

1471. believes in him may have eternal life. Now stop

1472. here. Jesus' communication was to him, right?

1473. Jesus' communication to him was that, are you

1474. not understanding what I'm communicating? That

1475. you have to be born of the spirit. Of course,

1476. we addressed that already to be born of the spirit,

1477. right? It's not water. Water is actually explaining

1478. cleansing by the spirit, right? What the work

1479. of the spirit is actually the cleansing. So Jesus

1480. was expecting actually Nicodemus to understand.

1481. Maybe by that, you could perceive what the Spirit

1482. would do. Right? Maybe by that, you could perceive

1483. what the Spirit would do. So, he's talking about

1484. the indwelling, that the Spirit must indwell

1485. in man. So, indwelling is being born again. Can

1486. we say that? Having the Spirit of God is being

1487. born again. Can we say that? That is also salvation.

1488. Can we say that? Yes. Yes, we can say that that

1489. is salvation, that is having the Spirit of God.

1490. Now, it is also, we can put it down, it is also

1491. called the manifestation of the Spirit. It is

1492. also called the manifestation of the Spirit.

1493. We are going to treat this in, when we go to

  1494. 1 Corinthians 12. Right? 1 Corinthians 12. Because

1495. the word manifestation of the Spirit was used

1496. in 1 Corinthians 12. And most of the time, we

1497. always interpret it as demonstration. Yes, we

1498. always take it as demonstration. Right? There's

1499. a difference between the manifestation that was

1500. used there and demonstration that was used in

1501. 1 Corinthians 2. So as I come to you, not in

1502. eloquence of words, but in demonstration of power

1503. and of spirit. There are two things. So this

1504. indwelling is the manifestation of spirit. It

1505. means the presence of God in a man. The presence

1506. of God in a man. The presence of God in a man.

1507. The presence of the spirit in a man. It means

1508. to allow something to have access to you, right?

1509. To manifest, allow something to have access to

1510. you. If you see John, John chapter 22, of course,

1511. the words are different. This one is ephaneso.

1512. Phaneros is the manifestation. I think Pastor

1513. Kostin dealt with that. So, the manifestation

1514. is actually, I think we can just say it. The

1515. manifestation is actually the spirit of God in

1516. the believer, the appearance of God in the believer,

1517. the presence of the spirit. The presence of the

1518. Spirit. Now that we understand being born again

1519. and being believed. Now, what is the work of

1520. the Holy Spirit in the apostles? Right? We need

1521. to check the work of the Holy Spirit in the apostles,

1522. which will also relate to us. And we will teach

1523. the work of the Holy Spirit in the world to have

1524. an understanding that we might be able to know

1525. how the Holy Spirit functions. Across that manifestation,

1526. you can also put the Ezekiel 36. Again, you can

1527. put Joel 2 because it's the same thing that is

  1528. being communicated. Ezekiel 36, Joel 2, 28. We

1529. can put those scriptures. Now that Jesus promised

1530. them the Spirit, right? What is the work of the

1531. Spirit in the apostles? What is the work of the

1532. Spirit in the apostles? What is the work of the

1533. Spirit in the apostles? Don't forget, the work

1534. of the Spirit started from Genesis. We saw what

1535. God did. We see how Abraham communicated it,

1536. right? We see how it's passed on to Mary, right?

1537. Also in the incarnation of Christ, the Spirit

1538. was at work. Also in the death and resurrection

1539. of Christ, the Spirit is at work. Now, he now

1540. said, I will give these same spirits. To who?

1541. The apostles. So what will be the function of

1542. the Spirit in the apostles? What will be the

1543. function of the Spirit in the apostles? Acts

    Acts 1:7

1544. chapter 1 verse 7. Before that, I think we should

  1545. read John 15 verse 26 to 27. John 15 verse 26

    John 15:26–27 John 15:26–27

1546. to 27. Since Jesus promised them the Spirit in

  1547. John 14 verse 15, John 15, 26 and 27 tells us

    John 14:15

1548. what will happen. But when the helper comes,

1549. whom I sent to you from the father, the spirit

1550. of truth will proceed from the father. He will

1551. bear witness about me. So of all that Jesus has

1552. been teaching the disciples, the apostles, the

1553. spirit will reveal those things to them. So how

1554. did they know that he was talking about his spirit

1555. in John chapter two by the spirit? How did they

1556. understand that the temple? That he said he would

1557. destroy and raise was his body. By the Spirit.

1558. After resurrection. So everything John was saying,

1559. they later understood was by the Spirit. This

1560. is for them. Right? This is for them. We'll come

1561. to the ones that are patented to us. The next

1562. verse. And you also will now do what? Be a witness.

1563. So when the Spirit witnessed to the apostles,

1564. they would witness to us. Right? So in their

1565. writings, we see that. So you also be a witness

1566. because you have been with me from the beginning.

1567. They have been with Jesus. So it means that all

1568. that Jesus has been explaining and has been doing

1569. and has been teaching them, they will now explain

1570. to us in the epistles, right? They will explain

1571. to us in the, that's why, I mean, beginning is

1572. there, right? It shows that they've been with

1573. Christ, right? So all the things that people

1574. were seeing and they could not understand. The

1575. miracles, the gift, the teaching, the words of

1576. Jesus, everything the apostles took and explained

1577. it to us. And that is why we have the epistles,

1578. the letters of Paul, the Peter, John, and all

1579. of that. So this is what they will do. Now Acts

    Acts 1 chapter mention

1580. chapter 1, Acts chapter 1 now proceeds and tells

    Acts 1 chapter mention

1581. us much more what the Spirit will do. Acts chapter

1582. one, verse seven. And he said to them, it is

1583. not for you to know the time of seasons that

1584. the father has fixed by his own authority, but

1585. you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has

1586. come upon you and you will be my witness in Jerusalem,

1587. in all Judea, Samaria, to the ends of the earth.

1588. So they will do what? They will be his witness.

1589. Witnessing. Witnessing. Of all Christ has done.

1590. So the disciples will witness. The power to witness.

1591. Comes by the spirit. Okay. The power to witness.

1592. Comes by the spirit. The power to witness. Comes

1593. by the spirit. So the way that for this power,

1594. right, which Jesus said they should wait until

1595. the Holy Spirit gives them this power, the boldness,

1596. right, to begin to function. But for the believer

1597. today, we don't need to wait, right? Are we aware?

1598. Yes. The believer does not need to wait. It's

1599. an instruction for the apostles, right? That

1600. they will together begin to function. collectively

1601. in the power of the Holy Ghost. What is happening

1602. there is what? Is the power of the Holy Ghost

1603. at work. Right? The power of the Holy Ghost.

1604. So he said, wait until this power begins to function.

1605. So as believers, we don't need to wait in Jerusalem.

1606. We don't need to wait anywhere. And we know,

1607. we know this. Now, Acts chapter 3, verse 38.

1608. We see Peter witnessing. Peter witnessed. He

1609. said, Then Peter said to them, Repent and be

1610. baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus

1611. Christ, for the remission of sins, and ye would

1612. receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. So, first

1613. person began to witness Peter. Began to teach.

1614. Explain. Right? Explain so much more. Acts chapter

    Acts 5:12

1615. 5 verse 12. We see signs and wonders. We can

1616. put it down. What the Spirit does through the

1617. apostles. Preaching of the gospel. Witnessing.

1618. Acts chapter 5 verse 12, signs and wonders. It

    Acts 5:12

1619. says, now many signs and wonders were regularly

1620. done among the people by the hands of what? The

1621. apostles. And they were together in Solomon's

1622. particle. So we see signs and wonders walking

1623. through them. You will see regularly, you see

1624. the Spirit walking through them. The Spirit walking

1625. through them across the book of Acts. The Spirit

1626. walking through them. Now let's see. The impact

1627. of the work of the spirits in the apostles, right?

1628. How that impact affected others. Acts chapter

    Acts 10:44–46

1629. 10, verse 44 to 46. So now that the apostles

1630. are the indwelling, they are witnessing all around,

1631. right? They are doing signs and wonders. What

1632. happened? It's a Peter while he was still saying

1633. these things, while Peter was witnessing, that's

1634. it. While Peter was yet witnessing, The Holy

1635. Spirit did what fell on those who heard and all

1636. who heard the word. And believers from among

1637. the circumcised who had come with Peter were

1638. amazed because the gift of the Holy Spirit was

1639. poured out even on the Gentiles. Stop there.

1640. So those who were the circumcised, right, were

1641. amazed that now these gifts can be received by

1642. every man. Every man. The next verse 46. Let's

1643. see what happens to the believer. For they were

1644. hearing them speaking words in tongues and extolling

1645. God. Then Peter declared. So just stop there.

1646. That is fine. For they were hearing them speaking

1647. in tongues. So one of the things the Spirit does,

1648. right, is to help the believer witness, which

1649. is help the apostles to witness, and then help

1650. other people to believe and... Witness that by

1651. praying in tongues. So tongues is actually a

1652. sign, of course, the teaching will come subsequently,

1653. is actually a sign that someone has received

1654. the indwelling. Okay? Speaking in tongues is

1655. a sign that someone has received the indwelling

1656. after they have been witnessed to. Tongues is

1657. a sign that someone has received, a believer

1658. has received the indwelling after being witnessed

1659. to. After being witnessed to. So this is what

1660. God is doing through men on earth today. This

1661. is what God is doing. So men are the ones functioning

1662. by the spirits. Right? Men are the ones doing

1663. what? Functioning by the spirits. All right.

1664. So the next question before we round up the session

1665. is what is the work of the Holy Spirit in the

1666. world today? Right? What is the function of the

1667. Holy Spirit to the world? So we now have to talk

1668. about the function of the Holy Spirit in the

1669. apostles and how the apostles witnessed to people

1670. and how through the Spirit they began to speak

1671. in tongues as evidence of the indwelling. Right?

1672. Peter was amazed. The Gentiles were not uncircumcised,

1673. not they received. Means the Spirit is for all.

1674. The Spirit is for all men. We'll come to that

1675. in 1 Corinthians when we get it. So, the Spirit

1676. is for all men. Now, John 15. Let's go back to

1677. John 15. What the Holy Spirit does not do. Actually,

1678. that's another way to put this. What the Holy

1679. Spirit does in the world or what the Holy Spirit

1680. does not do. What the Holy Spirit does in the

1681. world or to the world and what the Holy Spirit

1682. does not do. So you will notice that after John

    John 15:26–27

1683. chapter 15, verse 26 to 27, saying that the Spirit

1684. will witness to the apostles and the apostles

1685. will witness to others, right? The next thing

1686. that followed is, in fact, prior to that and

1687. after that, what followed is that they will be

1688. persecuted. they would suffer for the sake of

1689. the gospel. So let's start with John 15, verse

    John 15:18

1690. 18. He said, if the world hates you, know that

1691. it has hated what me, before he did what, it

1692. hated you. Right? So if you read this and you

1693. continue to read until chapter 16, verse one,

1694. go to chapter 16, verse one, I'll just be taking

1695. it one, one. I have said all these things to

1696. you. To keep you from what? Falling away, right?

1697. Falling away means running away from what I've

1698. called them to do. The previous verse tells you

1699. what Jesus told them to do. Okay? Jesus told

1700. them, you will be a witness because, chapter

  1701. 15, verse 27. Chapter 15, verse 27. You would

1702. also be a witness because you have been with

1703. me from what? From the beginning. In other words,

1704. I am telling you that you will suffer so that

1705. you will not stop witnessing. You will not fall

1706. away. You will not lose faith. They will put

1707. you out of the synagogues while you are witnessing.

1708. Is that when that takes place? Yes. Indeed, the

1709. hour is coming when whoever kills you will think

1710. he's offering a service to me. Right? Why is

1711. Jesus saying this? So that they will not stop

1712. witnessing. They will not be discouraged. Right?

1713. So, don't use it as end time teaching. Like,

1714. fall away. Oh, you lose your salvation. No, that's

1715. not what he's saying. Right? Don't try to use

1716. it that. As a that. So, Jesus is saying, you

1717. will not fall away from witnessing me. Verse

1718. 4. But I have told you. I have said these things

1719. that when the hour comes, you may remember that

1720. I was, I told you. I told you. Now, proceed.

1721. I did not say these things to you from the beginning

1722. because I was with you. But now I'm going to

1723. the one who sent me and none of you asked me

1724. where I go. Verse 6. But because I have said

1725. these things to you, your sorrows have filled

1726. your hearts. Nevertheless, I tell you, it is

1727. to your advantage that I go. And if I do not

1728. go away, the helper will not come, right? Emphasizing

1729. he has to die and resurrect. But when I go, I

1730. will send him. And when he comes, good. Now,

1731. this is the scripture now. When he comes, what

1732. will you do? He will convict the world concerning

1733. what? Sin, right? And righteousness and what?

1734. And judgments. Concerning sin, because they do

1735. not believe in me. Concerning righteousness,

1736. because I go to the Father and you will see me

1737. no longer. Concerning judgment, because the ruler

1738. of the world is judged. Now the emphasis here,

1739. most of the time when we teach it before those

1740. days. right? Not now that we have clarity, which

1741. we are going to have this clarity. I think in

1742. the next second session, we will pay attention

1743. to this. I'm not going to rush and finish it

1744. now, right? I'm just going to tell us the wrong

1745. perception of the wrong interpretation of this,

1746. which is, we always say that the Holy Spirit

1747. will, will, will convince, will convict you means

1748. that you have done something wrong, right? So

1749. conviction means you have done something wrong.

1750. Then a judgment is passed on to you. That's conviction,

1751. right? So you have done something wrong. So what

1752. people interpret this as is that when you do

1753. something wrong, the Holy Spirit will now come

1754. and tell you, make you feel remorse and you now

1755. feel bad. You're now like, oh no. So when you're

1756. feeling those things, right? Because of wrong

1757. teaching, you see, it's the Holy Spirit that

1758. is convicting me. It's telling me you did a bad

1759. thing. You did the wrong thing. And this is the

1760. scripture they bring to explain that. But that's

1761. not correct, right? The word convict, right?

1762. The word convict. Let's just write it down before

1763. we finish. The word convict directly here is

1764. the word. It's actually the word to reflect shame,

1765. to find faults and to make someone feel sorry.

1766. That is the way. it appears, the word convict,

1767. is to find fault, to make someone feel sorry,

1768. and to shame. To shame. So is this what the Holy

1769. Spirit do to the world? So it means that it will

1770. tell the disciples, go and witness. So while

1771. they are witnessing, The Holy Spirit will now,

1772. one day they are witnessing Jesus, right? The

1773. Holy Spirit will now say, you see, he's preaching

1774. to you now. The other day you lied. The other

1775. day you stole. You now bring all your sins. That's

1776. the way we think, that the Holy Spirit will reveal

1777. all your sins to you. And then, no, it's not

1778. what it is. After the break, we would actually

1779. go into that. I just want us to take time out

1780. to pray, right? For this few five minutes that

1781. we have, just want to take time out to pray.

1782. And just... Speak in tongues as an evidence that

1783. you have the indwelling. So if you have the indwelling

1784. here this morning, can you begin to pray in tongues?

1785. Can you give expression to that indwelling that

1786. is in you? Right? Give expression to the spirit

1787. of God that is in you by praying in tongues.

1788. The same spirit that was from Genesis. The same

1789. spirit that was from the father. The same spirit

1790. that raised Christ from the dead. The same spirit

1791. that brought Christ to earth. The same spirit.

1792. The same spirit that the prophet prophesied.

1793. The same spirit that was upon the prophet. The

1794. same spirit that raised Christ from the dead.

1795. The same spirit dwells in us. Can we give expression

1796. this morning? You don't need to have a prayer

1797. point. It's an expression of the fact that you

1798. have the spirit of God in you. It's an expression

1799. that you carry God in you. Can you just give

1800. expression to the Holy Ghost? If today's message

1801. was a blessing, share it with a friend. Until

  1802. next time, be blessed.
