  1. Welcome to NECF sermons. Each message here is

  2. designed to uplift and strengthen you in your

  3. walk with God. Don't miss out. Stay with us until

  4. the end for a rewarding experience. Let's dive

  5. right in. Hallelujah. Amen. Deuteronomy 22. Deuteronomy

  6. 22. Now we began a series that for a long time,

  7. and I promised you that we will continue from

  8. there. Hallelujah. And we've been discussing

  9. about issues about women's liberty, issues about

  10. women's liberty. We looked at a number of things.

  11. We looked at, is it scriptural for a woman to

  12. speak in church? I mean, we look at some controversial

  13. issues because our sisters have been tormented

  14. over the years. So we wanted to see the counsel

  15. of God. Is it forbidden for a woman to speak

  16. in church? Some scripture seems to suggest that.

  17. I say seems, they don't, but it seems. He said

  18. that a woman should keep quiet in the church.

  19. If she has anything, she should ask her husband.

  20. And then we saw that that's not what that place

  21. is talking about. We're going to return to it.

  22. But then we looked at also, is it permitted for

  23. a woman to lead a church? That's another place

  24. where they are forbidden. Looks at, they cannot

  25. teach men. Or that's the basis. And then we saw

  26. from what we call the Old Testament to the New

  27. Testament. There was nowhere that suggests that,

  28. that the woman cannot lead a church or the woman

  29. cannot be in the ministry gifts. After we started

  30. discussing the ministry gifts here and there,

  31. and there was nowhere that it mentioned either

  32. male or female. You understand? The Bible just

  33. says that when he ascended, you understand, he

  34. gave gifts to who? Are we together? So there

  35. was no name mentioned. Amen. And then we also

  36. moved on to look at, that's where we stayed a

  37. little longer. What is God's original plan or

  38. intention for creating a woman? And after that

  39. long journey, we came to an understanding that

  40. God's intention and original plan for creating

  41. a woman is not different. from his intention

  42. of creating a man. Amen. And we saw that God's

  43. intention of creating mankind is the same. It's

  44. one, male and female. Are we together? He created

  45. them. He created them in his image. Hallelujah.

  46. And this part is going to be the, for now, the

  47. concluding part. I don't know how long it will

  48. take us, but this part is the part of A woman's

  49. dressing. And we're going to look at two parts,

  50. particularly the ones that is much hot or hotter.

  51. Should a woman cover her head in church? And

  52. should women wear trousers? So these are the

  53. parts we're going to deal with. So before I go

  54. into it, because I want us to have a very solid

  55. foundation. So what I will do now. is to establish

  56. some foundation that will help us to answer those

  57. questions. Are we together? And I don't want

  58. you to sleep because whether you like it or not,

  59. it will come to you. You understand? We don't

  60. just want you to say, Pastor said. No. We want

  61. you to explain it. That's what it means by growth.

  62. Amen? Hallelujah. So I'm going to look at that,

  63. the issue of the woman's dressing. Now the issue

  64. of... A woman's dressing in scripture requires

  65. careful handling and proper interpretation. And

  66. that's why we're going to take some time. And

  67. a popular text that many believers turn to when

  68. discussing women's dressing is Deuteronomy 22

    Deuteronomy 22:5

  69. verse 5. Let's look at Deuteronomy 22 verse 5.

    Deuteronomy 22:5

  70. So we'll start from there. It says that a woman

  71. should not wear anything that pertains to a man,

  72. nor shall a man put on a woman's garments. For

  73. all who do so are an abomination to the Lord

  74. your God. Now, one of the injustice we have done

  75. to this text is to plug it out of the context.

  76. And then because we have done that, we can make

  77. it say what it's not saying. Now, everybody interpret

  78. it based according to their own culture. Are

  79. we together? Hallelujah. I remember I started

  80. having problem when I was growing up in my mother

  81. church. the church I was born into. So, you know,

  82. I agree. I never had problem with that. Like

  83. women, because the interpretation here is that

  84. back home is that what pertains to a woman is

  85. kids and rappers and what pertains to a man is

  86. trouser. Are we together? That's how they interpret

  87. it to us. And we grew in that system. You dare

  88. not wear a trouser to the church. They will send

  89. you out. Let me repeat again. You dare not wear

  90. a trouser to the church. They will send you out.

  91. In fact, I remember one of the, my cousin, she

  92. went to the campus and then, you know, how, so

  93. she was somehow, you know, influenced. Of course,

  94. when you go to the campus, So you are influenced

  95. somehow. But the influence is not that much,

  96. so to say. You know, she wore a gown. You know,

  97. these wrappers. So she saw a long wrapper, a

  98. gown, but just by the side, there was a little

  99. bit gap. And then she wore, she now saw the trouser

  100. inside, in the sand. So if she... If she's standing,

  101. you can't see that she's wearing a trouser. But

  102. as she walks, of course, because of the... So

  103. you can see that the inside garment is a trouser.

  104. It's a man's garment. Did you understand what

  105. I'm trying to say? So I remember as she walked,

  106. she reached the gate. I was in front of her.

  107. We were about to enter the gate of the church.

  108. They stopped her. There were women. They didn't

  109. even allow her to reach the church. right at

  110. the gate. You understand? Because the church

  111. was fenced. They stopped her. They said she can't

  112. enter. Why? That she is wearing a trouser. She

  113. said, but this one, the gown is long down. He

  114. said, how can you see that I'm wearing anything?

  115. That because she's wearing a trouser, she cannot

  116. enter the church. Now, religion is terrible,

  117. I'm telling you. Yet, there are other ladies,

  118. because they wore skirts, Their skirt is ungodly

  119. because it was tight, yet they allowed them to

  120. enter because they are wearing a what? A skirt.

  121. But her own, the dress is baggy. You cannot see

  122. any of her contour. You understand? But yet she

  123. was sent back home. So they didn't have a choice.

  124. She has to just branch and enter one of the pentacles.

  125. I didn't even know the name. You understand?

  126. She just saw a church and just entered. And they

  127. welcomed her. And she had her service there before

  128. she now returned back home. And when I came back,

  129. I just started loving. Now, we have had all kinds

  130. of experiences like that. Are we together? Now,

  131. it will do you well to pay attention. I beg you

  132. in the name of God to pay attention. Hallelujah.

  133. So, now, how do we understand this text? Now,

  134. the first thing to understand, we have taught

  135. in this church, to understand a text is to read.

  136. You understand? If you are lazy in reading, you'll

  137. be gullible. If you are not diligent in the study

  138. of God's word, you'll be a candidate of deception.

  139. I don't believe any lazy man will ever receive

  140. revelation because it requires a lot of careful

  141. reading. The intentions of the Holy Spirit is

  142. already there. Are we together? This is his words.

  143. You understand? All scriptures is given by the

  144. inspirations of God. Are we together? Amen. This

  145. is already. So the intention is not outside.

  146. The intention is already there. You just need

  147. to pay attention. to the intention of the author.

  148. Now, what are we going to do to be able to understand

  149. these things? There are basically three things

  150. we're going to do to be able to help us understand

  151. this. And all of it, we can summarize it as reading

  152. the context. So what I'm going to do now and

  153. probably Wednesday and probably beyond is to

  154. actually study the context. If you don't know

  155. context, just follow me. Whatever you saw me

  156. doing, I mean, see me doing, that's we are trying

  157. to read the context. Three things, as I said,

  158. to help us study the context. Now, the first

  159. one is that who spoke those words? Deuteronomy

  160. 22, 5. Who spoke those words? That's the first

  161. thing. The second thing, to whom was the author

  162. addressing them? That's the second thing. To

  163. whom was the author addressing those words? Number

  164. three, why? Number three, why? Are we together?

  165. Who wrote those words? To whom was the author

  166. addressing them? And the third thing is why?

  167. If we're able to answer this, we will know the

  168. meaning. of this text. Amen. Let's go back a

  169. little bit to Deuteronomy chapter 1. Let's see

    Deuteronomy 1 chapter mention

  170. from the beginning of Deuteronomy where I will

  171. begin to answer the first question. Amen. Excuse

  172. me. Deuteronomy chapter 1 verse 1. I'll read

    Deuteronomy 1:1

  173. 1 to 3. These are the words. With who? Oh, talk

  174. to me. Moses spoke to all who? To all Israel.

  175. On this side of the Jordan, in the wilderness.

  176. In the plain opposite to Sue, between Parham,

  177. Tophel, Laman, Hezrod. And there's a help. Verse

  178. 2. It is 11 days journey from Horeb. Now, not

  179. Horeb, because we're going to, we will do a lot

  180. of things at Horeb. By the way of Mount Seir

  181. to Kadesh Bener. Now it came to pass. In the

  182. 40th year, in the 40th year, in the 11th month,

  183. on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke

  184. to the children of Israel according to all that

  185. the Lord had given him as commandment to them.

  186. So did we see something there? Now, the book

  187. of Deuteronomy. Who was speaking? Moses to who?

  188. Who? To all of Israel, the children of Israel.

  189. Please don't forget this. I beg you. The children

  190. of Israel. Moses, children of Israel. Now, let's

  191. go closer to the end of Deuteronomy. Am I slow?

  192. The end of Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy 31. Deuteronomy

  193. 31. Because he said he spoke to them according

  194. to what? According to the commandment. So we're

  195. going to see there's something I want to do there

  196. before we move on. Go to Deuteronomy 31. Then

  197. Moses went and spoke. This word to all Israel,

  198. yet again, we are confirming the word is to all

  199. Israel. And he said to them, I am 120 years old

  200. today. I can no longer go out and come in. Also,

  201. the Lord has said to me, you shall not cross

  202. over this Jordan. Now go to verse nine, John

  203. to verse nine. So Moses wrote this law and delivered

  204. it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who bore

  205. the ark of the covenant of the Lord and to all

  206. the elders of Israel. Move to 24, verse 24. So

  207. it was when Moses had completed writing the words

  208. of this law, In a where? In a book. Are we together?

  209. When they were finished, verse 25, that Moses

  210. commanded the Levites who bore the Ark of the

  211. Covenant of the Lord, saying, take this book

  212. of the law and put it beside the Ark of the Covenant.

  213. of the Lord your God, that it may be witness,

  214. it may be dear as a witness against you. Let's

  215. stop for that for now. Amen? Are we together?

  216. So if you look at also this one, show to us that

  217. Moses was the one that was speaking, and he was

  218. speaking to the children of Israel. So we answer

  219. the... At least we're answering the first and

  220. the second. Are we together? Now, when you look

  221. at verse 26, he said he commanded that the book,

  222. so he wrote the law and put it, he wrote it in

  223. a book and said that they should put it besides

  224. the Ark of the Covenant, which contain, and I

  225. want you to see, now that Ark of Covenant, please

  226. just follow me gently. Now go to Hebrews. Hebrews

    Hebrews 9 chapter mention

  227. chapter 9. Just hold. We are coming back to this

  228. Deuteronomy. So just hold and go to Hebrews chapter

    Hebrews 9 chapter mention

  229. 9. What is that ark? What does the ark contain?

  230. The ark of the covenant. Hebrews chapter 9. Verse

    Hebrews 9 chapter mention

  231. 4. Let me read from verse 3. And behind the second

  232. veil, the part of the tabernacle, which is called

  233. the holiest of old, which had the golden censer

  234. and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides

  235. with gold, in which were, one, the golden pots

  236. that had the manna, two, the arrow's rod that

  237. budded, and three, The tablets of the covenant.

  238. Now, did you see the three things that are in

  239. the ark of covenant? The golden pots, right?

  240. Are we together? The golden pots that had the

  241. manna, the Aaron's rod that bought it, and then

  242. the stone tablets of the covenant. Note that

  243. one. So, listen now. Let me come back again.

  244. So, we have Moses. who wrote the law and wrote

  245. it in a book. And he asked them to put it beside

  246. the Ark of the Covenant. And this Ark of the

  247. Covenant contains three things. The golden pot,

  248. the Aaron's rod, and the stone tablet of the

  249. covenant. Now, go to... Go back to Deuteronomy.

  250. But this time around, Deuteronomy chapter 10.

    Deuteronomy 10 chapter mention

  251. Deuteronomy chapter 10. So, leave the Aaron's

    Deuteronomy 10 chapter mention

  252. rod and leave the pot, you understand, that had

  253. what? Manna, right? There are two things now

  254. that contains law. I want us to look at. One

  255. is a book. So, you have to distinguish them.

  256. One is a book. that Moses wrote, which is called

  257. the book of Moses or the law of Moses. So, and

  258. the second is the stone tablet that contains

  259. also commandments. Are we together? Are we together?

  260. Good. They are not the same. That's just one

  261. thing I wanted to know. So I wanted to go back

  262. to that Deuteronomy. Look at chapter 10. Just

  263. to expand shade, expand shade about or more,

  264. give light. with that issue of the stones or

  265. the tablets, the stone's tablet or the tablet

  266. of stone. In Deuteronomy 10, look at verse 1.

  267. At that time, the Lord said to me, Heal for yourself

  268. two words. Oh, talk, please, I want you to walk

  269. with me. Amen. Two words. Two tablets of stone

  270. like the first. And come up to me. Remember,

  271. Moses scattered the other one. The first one.

  272. Amen. So the Lord asked him to sit like the first.

  273. And come up to me on the mount. And make yourself

  274. an ark of what? An ark of what? Wood. And I will

  275. write on the tablets. The words that were on

  276. the first tablet, which you broke. And you shall

  277. put them in the ark. So I made an ark of acacia

  278. wood. Hew two tablets of stones like the first

  279. and went up the mountain. Having the two tablets

  280. in my hand. Verse 4. And he wrote. On the tablet,

  281. according to the first writing, what did he write?

  282. Oh, talk to me. The 10 commandments which the

  283. Lord had spoken to you in the mountains from

  284. the mist of the fire in the day of the assembly,

  285. the Lord gave them to me. He gave them to me.

  286. Look at verse five. Then I turned and came down.

  287. from the mountain and put the tablets, where?

  288. In the ark, which I had made. And there they

  289. are, just as the Lord commanded. Amen. So we

  290. have the two stone tablets, which contains the

  291. 10 commandments. Are we together? Then we have

  292. the book of the law of Moses. which God instructed,

  293. Moses instructed that it should be put beside.

  294. Beside. So we have two things. Amen. Go back

  295. to that Deuteronomy 30, that one, right? Yes,

  296. that one. Verse 26. He said, take this book of

  297. the law and put it beside the ark of the covenant

  298. of the Lord your God, that it may be there as

  299. a witness against you. So what we are trying

  300. to say is that, that the law of Moses or the

  301. book of the law of Moses is different from the

  302. law of Moses. Now follow me, because when I use

  303. different, you have to just understand what I

  304. mean. So just follow me gradually. Amen. Now,

  305. let me do something now. Just look at what is

  306. the difference between the law of Moses and the

  307. Ten Commandments. The law of Moses and Ten Commandments.

  308. You know, most times people confuse them. Immediately

  309. you say the law of Moses. People think about

  310. the Ten Commandments. Or when you said the Ten

  311. Commandments, people think about the law of Moses.

  312. But actually, we're trying to see that they're

  313. not exactly the same. But follow me to know what

  314. I mean by they are not the same. Amen. Now, look

  315. at it. Now, the first thing we have already,

  316. let me read again maybe another one. The first

  317. one is that the Ten Commandments were written

  318. and given. Are we together? Were written and

  319. given by God. This for now. Amen. They were given

  320. by the Lord. Are we together? We read it in chapter

  321. 10. Right? So write that text in chapter 10 where

  322. we read. Deuteronomy chapter 10, verse 1 to 4.

    Deuteronomy 10:1–4

  323. And let me read chapter 5 also. So add this scripture

  324. there. Deuteronomy 5, verse 22. Deuteronomy 5,

    Deuteronomy 5:22 Deuteronomy 5:22

  325. verse 22. This word the Lord spoke. Now, if you

  326. read from verse 1, you will see that it's a 10th

  327. commandment. Are we together? Deuteronomy chapter

    Deuteronomy 5 chapter mention

  328. 5 up to 21 is the 10th commandment. So he now

  329. said these words, meaning that he's referring

  330. to the 10th commandment. He has already listed

  331. them. The Lord spoke to your assembly in the

  332. mountain from the midst of the fire and the cloud

  333. and the thick darkness with the loud voice and

  334. he... added no more. And he wrote them on the

  335. two tablets of stone and gave them to me. Are

  336. we together? We read that in chapter 10, verse

  337. 4. Amen? Now, while the law of Moses, the law

  338. of Moses, when we saw, was written directly by

  339. Moses. You see the difference? Was written what?

  340. Directly by who? By Moses. We read it in Deuteronomy

  341. 1 .24. We say after Moses had finished writing.

  342. Deuteronomy 1 .24. Of course, John 1 .17 also

  343. tells us that the law came through who? Are we

  344. together? Through who? Moses. Amen. The second

  345. thing is that the 10 commandments, as we saw

  346. already, that were written on where? On the tablet

  347. of stone. Tablet of stone. We saw it. Again,

  348. you can write that text. Deuteronomy 10, of course,

  349. verse 1 to 4. And Deuteronomy 5, verse 22. Also,

    Deuteronomy 5:22

  350. it clearly shows us that. But then when you go

  351. back, when you go to Deuteronomy 31 verse 26,

    Deuteronomy 31:26

  352. where we read already, he said that actually,

  353. verse 24 particularly, he said it was written

  354. in a book. So we have book, the law of Moses,

  355. and the what? Tablet of stones, the 10th commandment.

  356. Amen? Now, the ark was kept inside the ark, where

  357. we read again. Deuteronomy 1, that's the number

  358. 3. Please follow me, this is very important.

  359. Deuteronomy 1, I mean 10 verse 1. Are we together?

  360. And verse 5. And of course, where we read Hebrews

    Hebrews 9:4

  361. chapter 9 verse 4, it says that the tablet of

  362. tone we are kept where? Inside the ark. However,

  363. where we read also in Deuteronomy 31 verse 26,

    Deuteronomy 31:26

  364. it says that that the book or the law of Moses

  365. was kept beside. It was not inside the ark. The

  366. fourth point is that the 10th commandment was

  367. given or were given on the top of Mount Sinai.

  368. We saw it also in Deuteronomy 10. Verse 1 to

  369. 5. We are given on the top of Mount Sinai. But

  370. the law, Moses wrote it. Are we together? Probably

  371. Moses began writing the events from Horeb. After

  372. Horeb, that was why they said no. They now chose

  373. Moses as the mediator after God made an offer

  374. and then they were not rejected. He said, no,

  375. we don't want to hear God. Moses, you go and

  376. hear whatever you hear, then tell us. So, somehow,

  377. somehow, it appears that after that event, Moses

  378. may have begun writing the law. Are we together?

  379. Because when we, where we read at Deuteronomy

  380. 31, you understand, all those texts. 31, verse

  381. 1 to 2, and as well, verse 9, verse 24 to 6,

  382. shows to us that Moses was finishing writing.

  383. So it was not at that time he was writing the

  384. law. Are we together? The Bible says when he

  385. has finished. That means he has begun sometimes

  386. ago. Amen. Good. The fifth point is that these,

  387. what do you call it? The Ten Commandments. was

  388. actually written after the event at Horeb. Of

  389. course, Deuteronomy 5, where we read 22, Deuteronomy

    Deuteronomy 10:4

  390. 10, verse 4, showed to us that there was God

  391. presented it. You know what I'm saying? There

  392. is a presentation of that, of the 10 commandments

  393. to these people. And they say, no, we don't want

  394. it. We want Moses to be, whatever you say, say

  395. it through Moses. Are we together? So it was

  396. then documented, you understand, on the tablets.

  397. And of course, that definitely will be before

  398. the law. Are we together? And then when you look

  399. at the law, you will see that when it was written,

  400. we'll definitely, of course, the New Testament

  401. told us, that it was 430 years after the promise.

  402. Right? Galatians chapter 3. Look at it. Galatians

Galatians 3 chapter mention Galatians 3 chapter mention

  403. chapter 3. Galatians 3 .16. Now to Abraham and

  404. his seeds where the promise made. He does not

  405. say unto the seeds, as of many, but as one unto

  406. your seeds, who is Christ. Verse 17. And this

  407. I say, that the law, which was 400 and what?

  408. Are we together? 430 years what? Later. Note

  409. that word. 430 years later. cannot annul the

  410. covenant that was confirmed before by God in

  411. Christ that he should make the promise of no

  412. effect. So he's talking about the promise. And

  413. we know about that promise. He's talking about

  414. the promise of Abraham, the covenant he made.

  415. Are we together? In fact, that coincide, look

  416. at Exodus, because Exodus 12, 12 verse 40 and

  417. 41. Exodus 12. Now, the sojourner of the children

  418. of Israel who live in Egypt was what? Was what?

  419. Oh, talk to me. 430 years. And it was, and it

  420. came to pass at the end of 130 years, on that

  421. very same day, it came to pass that all the armies

  422. of the Lord went out of the land of Egypt. Now

  423. look at Exodus 19. Look at Exodus 19. I want

  424. to connect something here. Exodus 19. He said,

  425. in the third month, after the children of Israel

  426. had gone out of the land of Egypt, on the same

  427. day, they came to the wilderness of Sinai. In

  428. the wilderness of Sinai. Give me NLT. Give me

  429. NLT. NLT put it. Quite simple. In the third month,

  430. meaning that the second month, this one is doing

  431. disco like, I don't know what to do. Amen. We

  432. love you. Hallelujah. You will see that NLT,

  433. yes, read NLT for us. Exactly two months, what?

  434. After the Israelites left Egypt, they arrived

  435. at the what? And what they set up their camp

  436. at the base of what? Mount Sinai. Now, I've already

  437. mentioned that at Mount Sinai, that was where

  438. Moses... Wait, are you hearing me? Listen, I

  439. want to connect the dates. That's what I'm trying

  440. to do. Paul said that the law came 430 years

  441. later. That is after the covenant. Now God told

  442. Abraham, are we together? That his seed will

  443. go to captivity 400 years. But we saw that he

  444. added 30 years. That's for another day. How did

  445. they add 30 years? Because God, you know, this

  446. is another thing for you to see. The fact that

  447. God said something and there's a prophecy over

  448. your life does not mean that it's automatically

  449. going to work. You can delay it. Are we together?

  450. In Babylon, if not because of Daniel, they would

  451. have spent more than 70 years. Jeremiah has already

  452. prophesied that they will spend 70 years in Babylon.

  453. It took a man that is studious, a man that is

  454. diligent. You understand? While reading, he now

  455. saw it and started raising a cry. Else, they

  456. would have also stayed in Babylon, although there

  457. is a prophecy that they will have to leave. We

  458. saw here, they spent 430 years. Amen. Okay, that's

  459. what it is. Now, the point I'm trying to say

  460. is that So after 430 years, after the God talked

  461. to Abraham, you understand? Now, exactly 430

  462. years, they left Egypt. But how we know that

  463. what our brother Paul said is that that same

  464. year, in just about two months time, they traveled

  465. out of Egypt. to the Mount Sinai area at the

  466. base of the mountain. And that event that we

  467. have read, when the Lord talked to them and said,

  468. this is what I want to do. I want you to make

  469. you as priests and kings. Are we together? And

  470. then spoke to them the gospel. They said, no,

  471. we don't want to hear you. Moses, go. Whatever

  472. you heard, come and tell us. So they rejected

  473. God there. Are we together? That's why I said

  474. the giving of the law, the writing, started after

  475. that event of rejection. So it is from that moment,

  476. these people, since they have rejected the offer

  477. of God, Moses began to write and say, these rebellious

  478. people need something to keep them in check.

  479. So Moses started writing the law. Amen. Are we

  480. together? Amen. So, if you look at other things,

  481. of course, like there is no divorce in the Ten

  482. Commandments. Is there any law to divorce? No.

  483. Are we together? If you look at Matthew, what

  484. Jesus talked about, in the law, there is what?

  485. There is divorce. They asked Jesus, of course,

  486. they were quoting Deuteronomy 24, where Moses

  487. wrote about divorce. Deuteronomy 24, verse 1

    Deuteronomy 24:1–4

  488. to 4. They were asking Jesus, why then did Moses

  489. tell us that we should give a certificate of

  490. divorce? Did you understand what I'm trying to

  491. say? So that means there was divorce written

  492. in the law. Amen? There's no revenge in the Ten

  493. Commandments. There's nowhere written revenge

  494. or hatred. But in the law, if you read Matthew

    Matthew 5 chapter mention

  495. chapter 5, Matthew chapter 5, verse 38 to 48,

    Matthew 5:38–48

  496. you will see verse 38 spoke, he was quoting from

  497. the law, talking about revenge. You understand?

  498. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Of course,

  499. if you go to verse 43, it talks about hatred.

  500. Verse 43, it talks about that. It says, you have

  501. heard that you should love your neighbor and

  502. do what? And hate your what? Your enemy. We don't

  503. have that in the 10th commandment. Amen? Again,

  504. there are no causes in the 10th commandment.

  505. There are no causes. sicknesses will come, death

  506. will come, affliction will come. If you read

  507. Deuteronomy 27, verse 16 to 24, particularly

    Deuteronomy 27:16–24

  508. even Deuteronomy 28 from verse 1, you see all

  509. kinds of causes, death, affliction. If you don't

  510. do this, you will not give birth. You are barren.

  511. You are this. You are that. This is where you

  512. find causes. We don't see cause in the Ten Commandments.

  513. Of course, Jesus, In John chapter 5, verse 45,

    John 5:45

  514. mentioned that in the law, Moses accused them.

  515. Are we together? So in the law, there is accusation.

  516. Moses just said, he said, he was talking about

  517. that Moses has already accused you. You know

  518. that word accused? It's the same word. is the

  519. same name given to the devil, accuser of the

  520. brethren. Are we together? In Revelation chapter

    Revelation 12 chapter mention

  521. 12, accuser of the what? Of the brethren. It

  522. means to find fault. That is what that means,

  523. accuse. To accuse means to find fault, to charge

  524. with an offense. So in the law, Moses has been

  525. pointing them to their fault. You find fault,

  526. you judge them. We don't see that in the Ten

  527. Commandments. Now, it's very important what I

  528. just did now. You understand as I keep moving.

  529. Go back to Romans chapter 7. Let me just put

    Romans 7 chapter mention

  530. up some things. Romans chapter 7. Look up at

    Romans 7 chapter mention

  531. 7. It's amazing how time moves. What? What shall

  532. we say then? Is the law sin? You say what? Certainly

  533. not. Is it on the contrary? I would have known

  534. sin. I would not have known sin except through

  535. the law. For I will not have known covetousness

  536. unless the law had said, you shall not covet.

  537. Now, I want you to think something. This one,

  538. you shall not covet, where is it located? Using

  539. what? Using the Ten Commandments. Right? Take

  540. note of that. I'm coming to do something here.

  541. But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment,

  542. producing in me all manners of evil desires.

  543. For apart from the law, sin, the law, sin was

  544. dead. Look at verse 9. I was alive once without

  545. the law. But when the commandment came, sin revived

  546. and I died. And the commandment, which was to

  547. bring life, I found to bring what? Death. For

  548. sin, taken occasion by the commandment, deceived

  549. me. and by it kill me. Therefore the law is holy,

  550. and the commandment holy and just and good. Has

  551. then what is good become dead to me? Certainly

  552. not. But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing

  553. death in me. through what is good so that sin

  554. through the commandment might become exceedingly

  555. sinful. Now, that's why I said you have to know

  556. what I mean by the difference between the law

  557. and the 10 commandments. Now, let me just say

  558. some few things before I go. Now, I want you

  559. to get something. Here, that when he said that

  560. you shall not covet, we know it's in the 10th

  561. commandment. The question is that, is it in the

  562. law of Moses? Again, let me note something. When

  563. Paul said, but sin, where is it? Okay, I would

  564. not have known sin except through the law. And

  565. then he move us nine. He said, I was alive once

  566. without the law, but when the commandment came,

  567. sin revived and I died. Which means the way he

  568. said, when the commandment came, that means there

  569. was a time when that commandment, which Paul

  570. quoted, thou shalt not covet, came. That means

  571. it was not there all the while. Are we together

  572. what I'm going to say? Are we together? So that

  573. proved to us what we are trying to say. that

  574. there was a presentation to them, they rejected

  575. it, and then there was a documentation. Are we

  576. together? Now, but I wanted to note, when we

  577. read, let me just point out something. When we

  578. read the 10 commandments from Deuteronomy chapter

    Deuteronomy 5 chapter mention

  579. 5, and from, of course, we didn't read that one,

  580. the other one, from Exodus chapter 20, the question

    Exodus 20 chapter mention

  581. is that, what do we call them? Which books are

  582. they from? Did you understand what I'm trying

  583. to say? Are you together with me? I'm saying,

  584. when we read those things, do we call the Deuteronomy

  585. and Exodus the book of the law of Moses? Are

  586. they part of the writings that Moses asked them

  587. to keep beside the ark? Are we together? Amen.

  588. Are you with me? Now, listen, because you know,

  589. most times they move the ark. So the ark is,

  590. they are not opening the ark always. They always

  591. carry the ark and move it anywhere they are.

  592. You understand? Listen, all Moses' teachings,

  593. what we call the law, that he wrote the law,

  594. they are a product of the 10th commandment. Let

  595. me repeat again. Moses was not writing from above.

  596. Remember the 10 commandments was what was presented

  597. to them and they rejected. Are we together? So

  598. Moses took from the 10 commandments and that

  599. was what he was writing. That was why you will

  600. find the 10 commandments written again and again

  601. inside the book. So we now have the 10 commandments

  602. stone tablets, which is inside the ark. We also

  603. have the Ten Commandments, which is written in

  604. the book. Are you together with me? Are you together

  605. with me? So, that is what most times when you

  606. read the epistles or the New Testament, and you

  607. hear the law, don't always conclude that it's

  608. talking about the Ten Commandments. In fact,

  609. Because you will see that. That's why you see

  610. neither Jesus nor any of the apostles ever faulted

  611. Moses. Are we together? Moses wrote from the

  612. 10th commandment. And that was his teaching material.

  613. And then the other prophet that came after him

  614. taught from his what? From his material. Are

  615. we together? So what are we saying here? The

  616. question I want to ask before we... we meet next,

  617. is that when Paul said in verse 9, I was alive

  618. once without the law. What does that mean? Was

  619. Paul saying he was physically alive before Moses

  620. gave Israel the law? Are we together? Remember

  621. we read in chapter 1, That Moses completed writing

  622. the law. That Paul was not alive then. If you

  623. look at the time Paul was born, the space is

  624. about more than 1 ,500 years. So this implies

  625. that Paul was not talking about being physically

  626. alive. Or dead. So in verse 9, was alive. It's

  627. one word. That word was alive. It's one word.

  628. And what's translated in Greek towards the word

  629. ZOA? O. No, it's ZAO. Z -A -O. ZAO. Z -A -O.

  630. And actually... If you look at it, it is from

  631. the Greek word from which what we normally sing

  632. zoe came from. Zoe is a noun. Zoa is the verb.

  633. So zoe came from zoa. Zoe, Z -O -E, that was

  634. where it was derived. So zoa means to live, breathe.

  635. To be among the living. To be active. To be active.

  636. So the word once, you remember he said, I was

  637. alive once without the law. That word once is

  638. from the word in Greek, pote. P -O -T -E. P -O

  639. -T -E, which means aforetime or at some time

  640. or in time past. At some time or in time past.

  641. Look again. I want you to look at verse 9 again.

  642. He used a word later. He said that I was alive

  643. once without the law, but when the commandment

  644. came, sin revive and I die. So that word revive

  645. was translated from the word Anazua. Now we already

  646. mentioned Zua. Zau, sorry. Zau is from the word,

  647. just add Ana. Ana, Zau. So it's from the word

  648. Zau. That is Ana Zau. So you have A -N -A. Z

  649. -A -O. A -N -A -Z -A -O. Which means to revive.

  650. It implies to live again. To recover life. To

  651. be raised to life. To be raised to life. Now,

  652. let me mention that one. To be raised to life.

  653. What does that mean? Remember, already we have

  654. a clue. That means those terms are not physical.

  655. They are talking about spiritual realities. Are

  656. we together? Look at that same word, Anazao,

  657. was used in Luke 15. It was used by Jesus, Luke

  658. 15, 24. Luke 15, 24. Look at that place. Luke

  659. 15, 24. For this my son was what? Dead and is

  660. alive. He's talking about the prodigal son. He

  661. was dead and is alive again. That word alive

  662. again is anazahu. Which means that here, of course,

  663. he's not talking about he was dead physically.

  664. Are we together? That means life and death in

  665. this context means the father is trying to say

  666. we were separated for a while. Are we together?

  667. Now, connected together means I am alive. Which

  668. means that he was talking about his son. That

  669. is, the son was brought back. How did the son

  670. appear back again? The person that ran from the

  671. home. The Bible says he came to his awareness.

  672. Are we together? So it means that what alive

  673. is talking about, I came to the awareness or

  674. to the knowledge of it. So when Paul was talking

  675. about that I was once alive without the law,

  676. you understand? Of course, he was not talking

  677. about physical things. You understand? But when

  678. he said I was revived, You understand? He was

  679. still talking about spiritual realities. And

  680. when we come on Wednesday, I will explain how

  681. Paul is talking about his awareness of the law.

  682. That though he sinned, but now he is coming to

  683. the awareness of the law. You understand? Are

  684. we together? Amen. So what am I trying to show

  685. as this section? Is first and foremost, I want

  686. you to note that remember Deuteronomy 22. Now,

  687. why are we going this far? We want to answer

  688. why. Remember, we've already answered the two.

  689. Amen. We have already answered the two. Moses

  690. was the one writing and we distinguish. What

  691. Moses wrote. And we show that Moses, after writing,

  692. he wrote it to the children of Israel. But now

  693. we are asking, why did he write the law? Why

  694. was there a need to write the law? That's the

  695. question we want to ask. Remember, Deuteronomy

  696. 22 was part of the what? The law of Moses. A

  697. man should not. So why did he have to write?

  698. That way, that's what we're trying to answer.

  699. And I want you to just follow gradually. By the

  700. time we arrive, you'll be able to understand,

  701. you'll be able to understand why that scripture

  702. was written. And we will understand what it means.

  703. And that will help us with the foundation about

  704. the woman's dressing. Amen. Can you just pray

  705. and say, thank you, Lord. Thank you for all you've

  706. been doing. I thank you for your light. Appreciate

  707. you Lord.
