Welcome to NECF Sermons. Each message here is
-
designed to uplift and strengthen you in your
-
walk with God. Don't miss out. Stay with us until
-
the end for a rewarding experience. Let's dive
-
right in. And these signs will follow those who
-
believe. In my name, they will cast out demons.
-
They will speak with new tongues. They will take
-
up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly,
-
it will by no means hurt them. They will lay
-
hands on the sick, and they will recover. They
-
will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.
-
So we are continuing from where we started from
-
on Sunday. We're continuing from where we started
-
from on Sunday, still the gifts, the gifts of
-
healing, the gifts of healing. And what we want
-
to consider today, or where we're going to start
-
from, of course, a whole lot of things we're
-
going to consider, but we have to start from
-
somewhere that I mentioned I will talk about
-
today, is how healing is a sign. Okay, how healing
-
is a sign. We need to go a little bit deeper
-
into that. The reason is because there are a
-
few questions that we will answer if we trace
-
how healing is a sign. So there are a few questions
-
that that study or checking that will help us
-
to answer. So, Mark 16 verse 17 says, these signs
-
shall follow them. And we see that healing is
-
one of the signs that Jesus mentioned, right?
-
Healing is one of the signs that Jesus mentioned.
-
Now, you will wonder, why are they using the
-
concepts of sign? Why is Jesus using the language
-
of sign? He could have just said, these are the
-
things, right? that will follow them that believe,
-
right? Or these things will follow them. But
-
he used the word sign. And when you use the word
-
sign to an audience, it means that they could
-
try to understand what you mean, right? Jesus
-
himself is talking to a Jewish audience, right?
-
He's talking to the disciples, right? And he
-
said, these signs will follow them that believe.
-
So it therefore means that they will understand
-
the meaning of signs. For signs here, is the
-
word Simeon. Signs in this Greek translation
-
is actually Simeon, which is S -E -M -E. Signs
-
is S -E -M -E -I -O -N in Greek. S -E -M -E -I
-
-O -N. It means... That's the indication of a
-
message. The indication of a message that they
-
hold on to. So then that belief, right? The indication
-
of the message they hold on to are the signs.
-
So the signs points to the message again. The
-
signs points to the message. Indication of the
-
message that they hold on to. And this message
-
is for understanding and believing, right? So
-
people that receive this message must understand
-
it and they must believe it, right? They must
-
understand it and believe it. They must understand
-
this message and believe it. Now, the first time
-
or the first pattern. that we see in the scriptures,
-
where the Bible used the word signs, right? It's
-
actually in Exodus. So we're going to trace sign
-
again from Exodus because we know, right? By
-
the scriptures, right? When we start reading
-
the scriptures, we will know that the sign also
-
in Exodus was pointing to a message, right? The
-
sign in Exodus was pointing to a message and
-
it was... I mean, quite interesting to see that
-
this sign was to both the Israel of that time
-
and to a king called Pharaoh. So the signs were
-
to two people, right? Israel and Pharaoh in the
-
context of what we want to see. So let's check
-
Exodus 4, Exodus 4, verse 8 to 9. Exodus 4, verse
-
8 to 9. It said, then it will be. If they do
-
not believe nor heed the message of the first
-
words, of the first sign. So it means that when
-
we see signs, it carries a message. So he's talking
-
to the people. He said, if they don't heed to
-
the message of the first sign. So the first sign
-
was supposed to communicate something to them.
-
That they may believe the message of the latter
-
time. So several signs were being asked for.
-
So these Jewish people like signs. You have to
-
prove to them by signs. So he said, then it will
-
be if they do not believe, if they do not believe
-
you nor heed the message of the first sign, they
-
may believe the message of the latter signs.
-
Now this is actually talking to the Jewish people
-
because Moses was sent to them to deliver them.
-
But they were doubting it. He said, and it shall
-
be if they do not believe even these two signs
-
or listen to your voice, then you shall take
-
water from the river and pour it on the dry ground,
-
the dry land. The water which you take from the
-
river will become blood on the dry land. Is this
-
not a sign too? He's just adding signs to signs.
-
Now, so when Moses approached them, they started
-
saying, well, we are not sure who you are, right?
-
We are not sure who you are. We are not sure
-
if you have decided to take us away from our
-
place where we are enjoying onions and cucumber
-
and all those stuffs. We are not sure whether
-
you are actually coming to deliver us or to put
-
us in more trouble. Of course, later on, you
-
will see that they accused him of putting them
-
in more troubles. Now, what we will see, right?
-
What we will see is that this is not the first
-
time. That they are doubting Moses' rulership
-
over them. Now, let's see. The word sign in Hebrew
-
is the word O -T -H. Right? The word sign in
-
the Hebrew is the word O -T -H. It's the word
-
O -T -H in Hebrew. And it really means, of course,
-
similar to the first one, it means to take away
-
unbelief. Right? Something that will take away
-
unbelief that people can't believe. So when the
-
signs appear, it is expected to take away Israel's
-
unbelief. Right? It is expected that this sign
-
that Moses will show them is expected to take
-
away Israel's unbelief. Now let's see if this
-
sign did, you know, what Moses was expecting
-
and what God was expecting. The sign is expected
-
to take away Israel's unbelief. That means they
-
will begin to work in what? In belief. Okay.
-
Now, let's go to Exodus, same Exodus chapter
-
4, verse 28 and 31. Verse 28 to 31. And Moses
-
told Aaron all the words, the Lord, yes, the
-
Lord, So Moses told Aaron these signs and these
-
words. So Aaron communicated the words that God
-
has spoken to Moses and did the signs in the
-
sight of the people. So the word... and the sign
-
can you say again right the creation of the word
-
and the sign working together now let's see and
-
the people believed and when they heard that
-
the lord had visited the children of israel and
-
that he had looked upon their affliction they
-
bowed their heads and worship now if you don't
-
pay attention very well you would think that
-
this verse that says verse 31 It's almost the
-
only verse that assumed that Israel believed.
-
Did you see verse 31? What did verse 31 say?
-
The people did what? Believe. So we have to check
-
which belief is this, right? Which belief is
-
this? So it's not believe unto salvation. Actually,
-
how would you know if you go to verse chapter
-
2? Let's go to chapter 2 first. Exodus chapter
Exodus 2 chapter mention
-
2. Exodus chapter 2. Verse 14. This is the first
Exodus 2 chapter mention
-
time, right? They began to ask Moses after he
-
had killed the Egyptian. And he said, who made
-
thee a prince and a judge over us? Right? Who
-
made thee a prince and a judge over us? It means
-
that these two Hebrew boys that were striving
-
did not see Moses as a leader. Right? Did not
-
see Moses as a leader. Now, after he had run
-
away and he was back, the same rhetoric continued.
-
They began to question, how do we know God had
-
sent you, right? How do we know that what God
-
had sent you? So if you read, now you can go
-
to chapter four. We can go back to chapter four
-
now. Verse one. And Moses answered and said,
-
but behold, they will not what? And Moses fled
-
from it, right? So the sign started. From the
-
moment Moses said, these people will not believe
-
that you have sent me. So what did they believe?
-
that God had sent Moses. That is what they believed.
-
That God had appeared to him and had instructed
-
him to take them out of bondage. So it's not
-
like they believed the message he said, but that
-
it's time to get out of this place, right? It's
-
time to get out of Egypt and that Moses should
-
lead them. So it wasn't really about like they
-
believed the message of the gospel. Otherwise,
-
we knew that this generation, only two people.
-
were left among them because they all perished.
-
And the reason why they perished, the scriptures
-
need us to know, is because of what? Unbelief.
-
They did not believe the message that Moses was
-
conveying to them. So they took, they accepted
-
the leadership of Moses, right? The leadership
-
of Moses. So when you see consistently, you will
-
see them asking him a question and questioning
-
his authority. But we see that through the signs,
-
Moses was accepted. as the leader of the Jews
-
to lead them out of Egypt. Now, let's see Numbers
-
14 verse 11. Let's see Numbers 14 verse 11. And
-
we'll check some of them. And the last thing
-
to Moses, how long will these people reject me?
-
And how long will they not what? Believe me with
-
all the signs which I have what? I have performed
-
among them. So it shows you here that they did
-
not believe the gospel, what God was communicating.
-
What they believed in that spot was to accept
-
Moses to lead them out of Egypt. That was what
-
they accepted. So the signs allowed them to believe
-
that, okay, probably this guy has got some powers
-
to lead us out of here and has some authority
-
from somewhere, right, from God, whom they believed.
-
So they didn't believe the message. So Numbers
-
4 just shows us again that they have not believed
-
the message, but rather, Rather, they believe
-
the leadership of Moses. However, we still see
-
it as a sign and a pointer to the message. So
-
Numbers 21, verse 6 to 9. So this one, we see
-
it as a pointer to the leadership of Moses. Numbers
-
21, verse 6 to 9. And the Lord sent a fairy serpent
-
among the people, and they bit the people, and
-
many of the people of Israel died. Therefore,
-
The people came to Moses and said, we have sinned.
-
This is their mindset. We have sinned. For we
-
have spoken against the Lord and against you.
-
Pray to the Lord that he take away the serpent
-
from us. So Moses prayed for the people. And
-
the Lord said to Moses, make a fairy serpent
-
and set it on a pole. And it shall be that everyone
-
who is beaten, when he looks, we watch, we live.
-
Verse 9. So Moses made a bronze serpent and put
-
it on a pole and so it was. If any, if a serpent
-
had beaten anyone, when he looked at a bronze
-
serpent, he did what? Lived. Right? So in this
-
context, right, we taught on Sunday that this
-
was used to communicate, was communicated or
-
explained much more the spiritual reality of
-
it in John chapter 3, verse 13 to 15. So the
-
spiritual reality of healing, of divine healing.
-
is communicated in John 3, 13 to 15. There's
-
a reason why I'm saying this. The spiritual reality
-
of divine healing that we see in Numbers was
-
communicated in John 3, verse 13. And we realize
-
that the word lifted, lifted up. Let's go to
-
John. Thank you. No one has ascended to heaven,
-
but he who came down from heaven, that is the
-
son of man who is in heaven. And as Moses lifted
-
up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must
-
the son of man be lifted up, that whosoever believes
-
in him should not perish, but must have eternal
-
life. So the communication of divine healing
-
is eternal life. There's a reason why we are
-
going there. Because it's going to answer some
-
of the questions that popped up on Sunday when
-
some people came to ask questions and some thoughts.
-
The communication of divine healing is eternal
-
life. And we see that that was from the word
-
lifted up, which means the resurrection of Jesus.
-
So the Son of Man being lifted up means Christ's
-
resurrection. At Christ's resurrection, eternal
-
life will be made available. At Christ's resurrection,
-
eternal life will be made available. So, it will
-
mean that when God was healing them, He was communicating
-
eternal life to them. As He was healing them,
-
He was communicating eternal life to them. Now,
-
one question I would like to ask. All these people,
-
in their abundance, That were healed in Egypt.
-
And even people that believed. Right? And were
-
healed. Did they later die in physical body?
-
Did they later die in physical body? Good. Now
-
this is taking us somewhere. Because. If they
-
truly die, right, in body, it therefore means
-
that beyond the sign is eternal life that is
-
communicated. Do we get it? So what we are holding
-
on to much more is the eternal life. As we administer
-
healing, as we heal the sick, right, we are holding
-
on to eternal life. So if this person has believed,
-
right, this person believed the gospel, The person
-
is able to be healed and continue the walk of
-
the gospel. So Paul would say, for me to leave
-
this Christ to die is gain. So I'm going somewhere.
-
So it means that the person would continue to
-
do the walk of the gospel. The person would continue
-
to live. If the person has not believed, the
-
person will be preached to and the person will
-
come to salvation. So the question was actually,
-
What if we pray for someone and the person passed?
-
Right? What if we pray for someone and we didn't
-
see the manifestation, we didn't see the manifestation
-
of dying and the person passed? The answer, right,
-
is that the message, if the person has belief,
-
the message of eternal life is already active
-
in the person. So you don't have a problem. Okay?
-
The message of eternal life is already active
-
in the person. You don't have a problem. If the
-
person comes to life, when it comes to life,
-
when we see the manifestation, the person continues
-
in that. The focus is eternal life. Do we get
-
it? So, the message, but if the person has not
-
believed, that is the only time you can say,
-
this person did not believe. You know, the person
-
just passed, right? You have some worry that,
-
you know, we know that they are not in Christ.
-
But when the person has believed, the message
-
of eternal life, is already active in the person,
-
right? That is why when we are administering
-
healing, even to someone that is sick, you can
-
preach to them on the sickbed too. Do you get
-
it? So when we are preaching, we are praying
-
for someone that is sick and you see that the
-
person is conscious, the person can answer, but
-
we are preaching resurrection and the healing
-
power in resurrection together to the person.
-
So you're not just saying that I'm trying to
-
heal the person, right? I'm just trying to, no,
-
no, we are preaching Christ because where the
-
healing power is, is where? Is in the power of
-
resurrection. Do we get it? So in the entirety
-
of it, right? The focus is the message of Christ,
-
right? The message of Christ. But we, I mean,
-
that does not notify that we will not continue
-
to walk in it. We walk in it. We manifest it.
-
But we must know that while we are doing all
-
that, the communication is the gospel. So let
-
me say a few things I wrote here. I say, although
-
these people were healed, they died afterwards
-
because it was physical healing that communicated
-
an eternal healing to them. So the dilated elf,
-
it does not modify our exercise of healing. It
-
does not. It does not nullify because it means
-
that if you say, oh, because people will never
-
die, it means that you are not ready to communicate
-
the gospel through the power of the gifts of
-
healing. That is what you are saying. You are
-
saying, I don't want to walk in this one. I don't
-
want to communicate the gospel through this power
-
that is at work in me. That is what we are doing.
-
So you are neglecting what is in you. So it definitely
-
means that although People might pass, right?
-
But we must continue to minister healing. We
-
must not neglect it. We must not neglect it.
-
I wrote just that the essence of healing is that
-
we want to see the message of Christ and it is
-
already revealed in those people. Now let's go
-
to 2 Kings 20, verse 1 to 6. 2 Kings 20, verse
-
1 to 6. In those days, this guy was sick and
-
near death, right? So this was someone who survived.
-
Let's see the essence of the survivor because
-
I mentioned it in Sunday, but we didn't read
-
it. In those days, this guy was sick and near
-
death. And Isaiah the prophet, son of Amos, went
-
to him and said to him, Thus says the Lord, Set
-
your house in order, for you shall die and not
-
live. And he returned his face towards the floor
-
and prayed to the Lord, saying, Remember now,
-
O Lord, I pray, I have walked before you in the
-
youth with a loyal heart and have done what is
-
good in your sight. And this guy wept bitterly.
-
And it happened before Isaiah had gone out into
-
the middle courts, that the word of the Lord
-
came to him, saying, Return and tell Zechariah
-
that the leader of my people, thus says the Lord,
-
the God of David, your father, I have heard your
-
prayers and I have seen your tears. Surely I
-
will heal you. On the third day you shall go
-
up to the house of the Lord. Verse 6. And I will
-
add to your days 15 years, and I will deliver
-
you in this city. Right? You see? This is what
-
God was communicating. I will deliver you and
-
this city from the hand of the king of Assyria
-
and I will defend this city for my own sake and
-
for the sake of my servant David. The communication
-
of the sign is actually the deliverance of that
-
city. Right? Communication of the sign, deliverance
-
of that city. So we see here that someone survived
-
and when the person survived, what was he doing?
-
It was deliverance of a city. Right? Deliverance
-
of the city. Deliver you and the city. Deliver
-
you. And so we see that function of God's deliverance
-
made manifest after a sign of healing and the
-
presence of life. All right. Another question
-
that popped up during the course. Of course,
-
we are not answering questions, but while we
-
are teaching, we are trying to address this question.
-
The question is whether healing, right? Okay,
-
the question is, when the part of a body is restored,
-
is it healing or miracle? So that was what the
-
prophet asked. Like when a part of a body, for
-
example, a particular part of someone's body
-
had been taken away and by the power of prayer,
-
it was restored back. So the person asked, is
-
it healing or miraculous? Now, this is the answer,
-
okay? Don't forget we are coming from faith,
-
right? And we said one of the things that we
-
can receive for somebody is this healing, right?
-
Okay. Now, in this healing, healing is one of
-
the... Okay, let's put it this way. Healing itself.
-
So, write it this way. Healing itself is working
-
of miracles, right? Healing itself is working
-
of miracle. No, not S. Miracle. Yes. Healing
-
itself is working of miracle. But not all miracles
-
are healing. Not all walking of miracles are
-
healing. Because they are connected, right? Healing
-
is a walking of miracles, but not all walking
-
of miracles, right, are healing. So the casting
-
out of demons, the speaking to the wind, speaking
-
to circumstances around you, right, addressing
-
certain situations around you, right, is not
-
healing. It's actually putting things in order
-
around you. So healing itself, It's a working
-
of a miracle, but not all working of miracles,
-
right, healing. And I gave last year, on Sunday,
-
I gave the example that when Jesus calmed the
-
storm, he wasn't healing the storm. He wasn't
-
healing the storm. I said healing is, it would
-
take place in the vessel that God can inhabit.
-
That should also tell you many things when you're
-
healing someone, right? When you're administering
-
healing. Is it that God can inhabit that person
-
or God inhabits that person? It means that the
-
function of this is for the person to have life.
-
So inanimate objects that we talked about last
-
Sunday is something that cannot carry life. Do
-
you get it? Inanimate is something that cannot
-
carry life. So something that cannot carry life,
-
God has nothing to do with it. Table, chairs,
-
things, God has nothing to do with them, right?
-
If they interrupt your flow of things in the
-
natural, you can address them by the power that
-
is resident in you. Do we get that? But God is
-
interested in what will carry his spirit much
-
more. Praise God. So that is the answer for the
-
healing is actually a miracle, but not all miracles
-
are healing. Now, the question is, why is healing
-
spectacular? Right? Why is healing now so, why
-
is it so distinct? Why do we have to bring that
-
out? Why did Christ say, you know, this is more
-
specifically that was mentioned. Healing is spectacular
-
given that it communicates, right? It communicates
-
consistently across the scripture, salvation,
-
right? It communicates consistently across the
-
scripture, salvation, right? That's one that
-
we can hold on to for now. We can hold on to
-
that. Across the scriptures, healing communicates
-
salvation. And we have seen it across from Genesis
-
up until... Let's proceed a little bit. John
-
chapter 4, verse 46 to 54. John chapter 4, verse
-
46 to 54. And Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee,
-
where he had made the water wine. And there was
-
a certain noble man whose son was sick at Capernaum.
-
And when he heard that Jesus had come, When he
-
heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee,
-
he went to him and employed him to come down
-
and heal his son, for he was at the point of
-
death. Thus Jesus said to him, Unless you people
-
see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.
-
And the noble man said to him, Sir, come down
-
before my child dies. And Jesus said to him,
-
Go on your way, your son lives. So the man believed
-
the words that Jesus spoke to him. and he went
-
his way. And as he was now going down, his servant
-
met him and told him, saying, Your son lives.
-
Then he inquired of them the hour when he got
-
better, and they said to him, Yesterday at seventh
-
hour the fever left him. So the father knew that
-
it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to
-
him, Your son lives, and he himself believed,
-
and his whole household. They believe the miracles
-
of Jesus. They believe the healing ministry of
-
Jesus. They believe the miracles of Jesus. They
-
believe healing ministry of Jesus. Alright. Now
-
write this down. God's healing is not restricted
-
to a certain time. God's healing is not restricted
-
to a certain time. Neither is it restricted to
-
a few. neither is it restricted to a few. God's
-
healing is not restricted to a certain time,
-
neither is it restricted to a few. As long as
-
the intention of God and the purpose of God is
-
involved, healing is always available, right?
-
When the intention and purpose of God is involved,
-
Healing is made available. Healing is always
-
available. Right? When intention of God, which
-
we know is salvation, which we know is the communication
-
of the message of Christ, healing is always available.
-
Now, let's see how healing was made manifest.
-
Because the question is, if Abraham did not have
-
the Spirit of God, okay, resident in them, Moses
-
also neither did, right? Resident in them. Elisha
-
did not as well. How? what was working in them.
-
Of course, we know it's the Spirit of God, right?
-
We know it's the Spirit of God. We need to check
-
again, these three people, to see how it took
-
place. So in Genesis 18 verse 19, in Genesis
-
18 verse 19, you can write this down. Maybe we
-
can move a little bit faster. Abraham walked
-
in healing through prayer. Abraham walked in
-
healing through prayer. We've read it before,
-
so I will not read it now. We can write that
-
down. Genesis 18 verse 19. Abraham walked in
-
healing through prayer. So he prayed, right?
-
He prayed and healing was made available. So
-
you probably were expecting the Spirit of God
-
to come on him and make healing made available,
-
but he prayed, right? He prayed. So that was
-
what we see in that scriptures. In Numbers 12
-
verse 13, Moses also prayed, right? Moses also
-
prayed. So you cannot think healing. You cannot
-
wish healing. You have to pray healing. Right?
-
You cannot think it. You cannot imagine it. You
-
cannot wish it. You cannot be quiet and say,
-
okay, I expect healing. You have to do what?
-
Pray. You have to pray healing. That's why James
-
would say, the effective fervent prayer of a
-
righteous man. James 5. The effective fervent
-
prayer of a righteous man abilites what makes
-
power available. So the effect healing, Through
-
prayer. Consistently we see it in this too. 2
-
Kings 5 verse 8. 2 Kings 5 verse 8. Elisha made
-
healing available to make God known. So he told
-
Naaman, he said, I will show you that there is
-
God in Israel today. He said, I will let you
-
know. that there is God. 2 Kings 5 verse 8. He
-
said, I will let you know. Please let him come
-
to me and he shall know that, okay, he shall
-
know that there's a prophet in Israel. It means
-
someone who communicates the message of God in
-
Israel today, right? So, that's, through that,
-
the next verses that followed, what happened?
-
You received healing, right? You told him, go
-
to this place, go to Jordan, wash, and you will.
-
be clean so consistently we see that these people
-
engage in prayer they engage in communication
-
what we can see there is that the spirit of god
-
was at work with them i know i said was at work
-
with them i didn't say in them okay so in them
-
i said it was at work with them the spirit of
-
god was working with them in their prayers in
-
their communication of the message of the gospel
-
and they are declaring that there is someone
-
who carries God's message. So, like us today,
-
when we heal, it is to show that we carry God's
-
message. When we engage healing, right? When
-
we pray and healing takes place is to reveal
-
that we are the prophets of God. We carry God's
-
message and that message is salvation. So the
-
Spirit of God was at work with them in their
-
actions. Mark 9 verse 38 to 40. Mark 9 verse
-
38 to 40. Mark 9 verse 38 to 40. Now John answered
-
him saying, Teacher, we saw someone who does
-
not follow us, who does not follow us, casting
-
out demons in your name, and we forbade him.
-
Because he does not follow us. Now, he's not
-
talking about holding the adoption or anything.
-
It means that he's not part of this club. He's
-
a psycho, right? We just saw him somewhere. You
-
know, the same way they say they see some people
-
somewhere, they were baptizing people, right?
-
So he's not in that category. And Jesus said
-
to him, do not forbid him. For no one who works
-
a miracle in my name can sooner or later speak
-
evil of me. Right? So it means that there were
-
people. who were working in the name of Jesus.
-
So Christ was working with them. The name, the
-
office of Christ was working with them at that
-
point. This is exactly similar to Numbers 11.
-
So you can put Numbers 11, verse 27 to 29. Also
-
someone was prophesying, right? I think we can
-
check that. I think, yes. A young man ran and
-
told Moses and said, Eldad and Medad are prophesying.
-
in the camp. And Joshua, the son of Nun, Moses,
-
I stand. One of his tribesmen answered and said,
-
Moses, my Lord, forbid them. And Moses said to
-
them, are you sinning for my sake? Oh, that all
-
the lost people were what? Prophets. And the
-
Lord will put his spirit upon them. What he's
-
doing in the scriptures is to show that people
-
who have the intention of God, walked in the
-
things of God. People who had the intentions
-
of God walked in the things of God. People who
-
had intentions of God, who had God's body, who
-
had God's purpose in their mind, they walk in
-
the things of God. They walk in the things of
-
God and they cannot be restricted. They cannot
-
be stopped. They cannot be restricted and they
-
cannot be stopped. They cannot be restricted
-
and they cannot be stopped. Now, let's go to
-
a couple of scriptures. Now, all of these closes
-
up this teaching in terms of the Old Testament
-
explanation, right? How they're working in it.
-
Now, in the gospel, how will they be working
-
in healing in the gospel, right? This one, we
-
see that they had God's intention. They had God's
-
mindset. They want to fulfill what God is doing,
-
right? They want to communicate the message of
-
God. And by that, in their prayers, in their
-
communication, they walk in the sign. So now,
-
what about in the lifetime of Jesus, right? Which
-
we call the documents, the synoptics or the gospels.
-
How did they walk in healing? So Matthew 4, verse
-
23. Let's start with Matthew 4, verse 23. Matthew
-
4, verse 23. He said, and Jesus went about all
-
Galilee, teaching in their synagogue, preaching
-
the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds
-
of sicknesses and all kinds of diseases among
-
the people. Right? This is just another version
-
of Acts 10 verse 38. So put Acts 10 verse 38.
-
Acts 10 verse 38. It's quite parallel to this.
-
He said, and God anointed Jesus of Nazareth.
-
with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went
-
about doing good and healing all who were oppressed
-
by the devil, for God was with him. Now we see
-
here that Christ is who? Is regarded as who?
-
The anointed Messiah. Right? In this context,
-
we see him, he said, anointed Jesus of Nazareth.
-
Because he's referring to the lifetime of Jesus.
-
Are we together? So this text is referring to
-
the lifetime of Jesus and which we have read
-
in Matthew 4, verse 23. Now, there are four things
-
that we can pick from here. There are four things
-
that we can pick from here. First, sickness is
-
an oppression of the devil, whichever may. It's
-
never of God. It's an oppression of the devil.
-
It's an oppression. And like they said, all that
-
were oppressed by the devil. Healing all who
-
were oppressed by the devil for God was with
-
him. It's an oppression of the devil. Healing
-
is a good work of God, right? Healing is a good
-
work of God. So you can know that sickness does
-
not come from God. God cannot test you with sickness.
-
He is not interested in how you would react when
-
you seek. God is not interested in that. He's
-
not interested in that. He's interested in when
-
any of those things come, how he will deliver
-
you. So God is interested in how he will deliver
-
you. It's the good work of God. What we see here
-
is also the power of God. He heals all sicknesses
-
and diseases. So there is no like, there is one
-
that they will mutate and bring tomorrow and
-
will be more powerful than the power of God.
-
The power of God heals all manner of sicknesses
-
and diseases. So someone will say, oh, the ones
-
we have today, we are known in Acts chapter 10.
Acts 10 chapter mention
-
The power of God, according to the scriptures
-
that we have seen, He heals every form of disease.
-
So it shouldn't restrict your mind, right? So
-
you don't have any restriction that, ah, this
-
one, this is how the doctor say it will manifest,
-
right? This is how, oh wait, the same way you
-
are seeing these signs, right? It has reached
-
a particular stage. You know, this information
-
in many occasions comes into our mind. But the
-
information that supersedes that is that the
-
power of God heals all sicknesses. The power
-
of God heals all sicknesses. And so we see this
-
taking place in the earthly ministry of Jesus,
-
the healing ministry of Jesus. Now, one of the
-
things that we know is that the number of people
-
Jesus healed in his lifetime was not recorded,
-
unfortunately. Unfortunately, I don't know which
-
other one, but the scriptures made us to know
-
that the number of people that are received from
-
him, all their names were not mentioned. Right?
-
All their names were in a minute. For example,
-
the 5 ,000, right? We don't have the names of
-
who ate, who took extra and all of that. We don't
-
have those names. You know, maybe that's taking
-
the time. It would have, you know, filled unnecessary
-
space maybe in the scriptures. Maybe there was
-
no message for us to receive from there. But
-
we can go John 20, 30, right? John 20, 30 reviews
-
that. There are a lot of things Jesus did and,
-
you know, we're not recording it. And truly Jesus
-
did many other words. signs in the presence of
-
his disciples, which are not written in this
-
book. So you can say it's John, even in Matthew,
-
some of those people he healed, no name. No name.
-
So it means that healing was abundance. Are we
-
together? Healing was abundance. It was a regular
-
thing that happens when Jesus preached. It was
-
a common place in the preaching of Jesus. It's
-
a common place in the ministry of Jesus. Matthew
-
15, verse 21 to 28. Matthew 15, verse 21. Then
-
Jesus sent out from dead and departed to the
-
region of Tyre and Sidon. of the house of Israel.
-
And she came and worshipped him saying, Lord,
-
help me. And he answered and said, it is not
-
good to take the children's bread and throw it
-
to the little dogs. And she said, yes, Lord.
-
Yet, even the little dogs eat from the crumbles
-
which fall from their master's table. And Jesus
-
answered and said to her, oh woman, great is
-
your faith. Let it be to you as you desire. And
-
her daughter was healed from that very hour.
-
Did she receive the bread too? Did she receive
-
the bread too? Come on, she received, right?
-
She received what others can receive by faith.
-
She received. So it's like healing is regular.
-
It's common. It's a common place. Right? It's
-
a common place. We can put it as common place
-
for the believer. Right? Healing is a common
-
place for the believer. It's something that should
-
be regular. We're going to end on these two notes.
-
First, that is a common place. We'll end and
-
we'll pray. It's a common place. It should be
-
common. It should be regular. Right? If you read
-
Acts, Acts will say that and many signs and wonders
-
were what? Were regularly done by the hands of
-
the apostles. Many signs and wonders were regularly
-
done, right, by the hands of the apostles. When
-
we continue the teaching next time, we would
-
dig deeper. So first, it's common, it should
-
be regular. In your life, you should expect it,
-
right? You shouldn't expect that it's until you
-
take prostramore that you'll be healed. No, you
-
should expect more. Just like I said, the emphasis
-
of the Bible is on divine healing. So the emphasis
-
of the believer, most of the time that you foresee,
-
should be on divine healing too. and little of
-
the physical, just like the Bible worked in that,
-
or the Bible expressed that to us. So it should
-
be regular. When you're sick, when you have a
-
headache, lay your hands, touch your shoulders,
-
touch your knees, and you'll receive. Now, the
-
second one, Luke 5, 13, verse 15. Luke 5, 13,
-
verse 15. I just want to put this scripture so
-
that we can know. He said, Then he put out his
-
hand and touched him, saying, I am willing. Be
-
what? Be cleansed. So the leprous man was asking
-
Jesus, if you are willing. If you are willing.
-
And he said, I am what? Willing. So God is always
-
willing to heal. Always willing to heal. Right?
-
God is always willing to heal. God is always
-
willing to heal. God is always willing to heal.
-
Can we be on our feet? Just take time out to
-
pray, right? We just want to spend an extensive
-
time to pray much more. God is always willing
-
to heal. Healing is a common place for the believer.
-
It should be regular among the believer. So we
-
will stand up and we just begin to pray in the
-
Holy Ghost, right? We want to give ourselves
-
to the expression, Of healing. We want to give
-
ourselves. So that our mind receives it. And
-
believes it. And we walk in it. We appreciate
-
you being here today. We hope you carry this
-
word with you. Throughout your week. Don't forget
