  1. Welcome to NECF Sermons. Each message here is

  2. designed to uplift and strengthen you in your

  3. walk with God. Don't miss out. Stay with us until

  4. the end for a rewarding experience. Let's dive

  5. right in. I pray that God will continue to help

  6. us to live in the reality of these songs. For

  7. the first one, he says, one of the hymns, the

  8. song, Hark the herald angels sing. Glory to the

  9. newborn king. Peace on earth and mercy mild.

  10. God and sinners reconciled. Hallelujah. And that

  11. is the theme of Christmas. That is the essence

  12. of Christmas. That is the essence of God coming

  13. in the form of a man, that there will be peace

  14. on earth and mercy will be made available and

  15. then God and sinners will be reconciled together.

  16. Hallelujah. Now, without this reality, there

  17. wouldn't be need for Jesus or for God becoming

  18. Jesus and coming on earth for us. So his humanity

  19. is anchored on what he will do in order to redeem

  20. a man, to redeem you, to redeem me unto himself.

  21. That man will be reconciled to God. So it is

  22. in the light of this that we are brought into

  23. a family. We are brought into a family. And on

  24. Sunday we discussed, we started, discussing a

  25. very fundamental principle that guides our relationship

  26. as a family. And we talked on the idea that love

  27. is a governing principle of the family that we

  28. belong to. Now, quickly turn with me. Let's have

  29. a few recap before we move forward. Matthew 18,

    Matthew 18:18

  30. verse 18. Matthew 18 from verse 18 to 20. I surely,

  31. I say to you, Matthew 18 verse 18 to 20. I say

    Matthew 18:18–20

  32. to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound

  33. in heaven. And whatever you lose on earth will

  34. be loosed in heaven. Again, I say to you that

  35. if two of you agree on earth concerning anything

  36. that they ask, it will be done for them by my

  37. Father in heaven. For wherever two or three are

  38. gathered together in my name, I am there. I'm

  39. in the midst of them. I'm there in the midst

  40. of them. Hallelujah. And we summarily said that

  41. Jesus here was teaching about what? Was teaching

  42. about forgiveness and what? And reconciliation,

  43. okay? Of a family. Jesus was speaking in a light

  44. of forgiveness and reconciliation in the family.

  45. Now, this family, we agree that it is a supernatural

  46. family, right? It is a family that is spiritual.

  47. Not necessarily your biological family. And I

  48. said on Sunday that your biological family can

  49. be part of that spiritual family, conditioned

  50. on the fact that they are believers. Okay? So

  51. no matter how much you love your dad, you love

  52. your mom, no matter how much you love your siblings

  53. or you love your wife or your children or your

  54. husband, if that person is not in Christ, if

  55. that person has not received salvation in Christ,

  56. such an individual is not your brother or sister

  57. in Christ. Such an individual does not belong

  58. to this supernatural family. You might be family

  59. biologically, but you are not family spiritually

  60. because you must be born of God. You must all

  61. be born of the Spirit in order to participate

  62. in this spiritual family. And it doesn't matter

  63. how good they are. It doesn't matter how sincere

  64. they are. It doesn't matter how loving they are

  65. to you. If they have not believed in Jesus Christ

  66. and have received the Spirit of God, you don't

  67. belong to this eternal family with them. And

  68. the danger of not belonging to this eternal family

  69. is that there is the possibility of eternal separation

  70. from them. So the reason why you preach the gospel

  71. is because you love them. First of all, not only

  72. there is an instruction from God, but because

  73. God loves them and you love them as well. So

  74. what do you do? You present the message to them.

  75. You pray for them and you present the message

  76. to them with the hope that they will receive

  77. the message, believe in the message, receive

  78. the Spirit of God, thereby participating in this

  79. supernatural family. Hallelujah. So pastor told

  80. us last week that this gathering is a gathering

  81. of supernatural beings. And all of us here are

  82. gathered because we are supernatural. And God

  83. is here with us. Way too often you are gathered,

  84. God is in their midst. God is here with us. So

  85. this is a family meeting. Hallelujah. This is

  86. a family meeting of God's family, supernatural

  87. family. And what we are doing is that we are

  88. feasting. on the fruit of the Spirit. All we're

  89. doing is that we're dining, we're eating. This

  90. is our food. The Word of God is our food. So

  91. what we're doing now is that we are participating

  92. in the fellowship. We are sharing in our meal.

  93. And this meal is a supernatural meal. It is the

  94. Word of God. Hallelujah. So, this family is also

  95. what we call the Kingdom of God. is a church

  96. of God. As members of the family of God, the

  97. Bible teaches us that in the course of our relationship,

  98. in the course of our interaction, because we

  99. are humans and we are not perfect in the physical,

  100. even though our spirit man is perfect, we are

  101. perfectly loved by a perfect God, we've been

  102. brought into the perfection of God through Christ,

  103. in our conduct, there could be limitations in

  104. our conduct. There could be challenges in our

  105. conduct because we are still in the flesh. So

  106. it is not impossible for us to have conflict.

  107. What I'm saying is that it is possible for us

  108. to have conflict in the course of our relationships.

  109. Hallelujah. So offenses will come as the Bible

  110. has rightly reminded us in Luke chapter 17. That

    Luke 17 chapter mention

  111. offenses will come, Luke 17. In the course of

  112. our relationship as a family, offenses can rise,

  113. Luke 17, from verse 1. Then he said to them,

  114. to the disciples, It is impossible that no offenses

  115. should come, but word to him through whom they

  116. come. It would be better for him if a mild song

  117. were hung around his neck. and he were thrown

  118. into the sea, then he should offend one of these

  119. little ones. Take it to yourselves. If your brother

  120. sins against you, if your brother sins against

  121. you, seven times in a day, and seven times in

  122. a day returns to you saying, I repent, what should

  123. happen? I'm reading verse 4, right? If he turns

  124. to you and says, I repent, you shall forgive

  125. him. Hallelujah. Now, forgiveness and reconciliation,

  126. we said, are a vital part of our nature. Amen?

  127. Because this is an instruction from God. Because

  128. we are obliged to what? To forgive. Hallelujah.

  129. We are obliged to forgive. At all costs, we must

  130. what? We must forgive. Ephesians 4 verse 32.

    Ephesians 4:32

  131. Ephesians 4, 32. Ephesians 4, 32. He says, be

  132. kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving

  133. one another, even as God in Christ has done what?

  134. He has forgiven us, all right? So our action

  135. is a result of what God himself has acted towards

  136. us. Colossians 3, verse 13. Colossians 3, verse

    Colossians 3:13 Colossians 3:13

  137. 13. Colossians 3, verse 13. Bearing, let me read

    Colossians 3:13

  138. from verse 12. Therefore, as elect of God, holy

  139. and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness,

  140. humility, meekness, longsuffering. Verse 13.

  141. Bearing with one another and forgiving one another.

  142. If anyone has a complaint against another, even

  143. as Christ would forgive, so you also must do.

  144. You also do. You also must do. Hallelujah. So

  145. God has stated a standard and a procedure for

  146. forgiveness and reconciliation for his children.

  147. And if we have received the forgiveness of God,

  148. it is important that we obey the words of God.

  149. By what? By forgiving and reconciling one another.

  150. Hallelujah. And let's go back from verse 15 of

  151. Matthew 18. Matthew 18, verse 15 to 17. Moreover,

    Matthew 18:15–17

  152. if your brother sins against you, if your brother

  153. sins against you, go and do what? And tell him

  154. his fault between you and him alone. If he hears

  155. you, you have gained your brother. Verse 16.

  156. But if he will not hear, take with you one or

  157. two more, that by a mouth of two or three witnesses,

  158. every word may be established. And if he refuses

  159. to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he

  160. refuses even to hear the church, Let him be to

  161. you like a hidden and a tax collector. And look

  162. at verse 15 carefully. Verse 15 says, verse 15

  163. or other, it says, sins, if your brother sins

  164. against you, Noah King James uses the word trespass

  165. against you. If your brother sins against you

  166. or trespasses against you, Right? And not against

  167. God. So the sin is against who? It's against

  168. you, the believer. It's not against God. So the

  169. conversation here is dealing with relationship

  170. between who? Between men, between us. Right?

  171. In our relationship, if a brother sins against

  172. you, not against God. So this conversation is

  173. dealing with A relationship between men. This

  174. affirms, it affirms, the text affirms the possibility

  175. that your brother or your sister or your supernatural

  176. family members will do what? They will sing against

  177. you. Alright? It means that they can trespass

  178. against you. They can trespass against you. Now,

  179. trespass or sing in the Greek word as used in

  180. that text. is the word hamartano, H -A -M -A

  181. -R, H -A -M -A -R -T -A -N -O, N -O, hamartano,

  182. which in this context means to miss the mark,

  183. all right? If your brother miss the mark towards

  184. you, it also means to err. It also means to offend.

  185. So it means if your brother missed the mark towards

  186. you, if your brother hurt your relationship towards

  187. you, if your brother offends you, it means that

  188. standards are not met in the course of our relationship.

  189. There are standards that are expected in the

  190. course of our relationship. And these standards

  191. are established from scriptures. And what are

  192. the standards? The standard is that we operate

  193. in love towards one another. That is a standard

  194. from Scripture. So if your brother or your brother

  195. misses the mark, misses the standard in the standard

  196. of our relationship towards one another. So standards

  197. can be missed. Standards are not made in the

  198. relationship between you and your brother. The

  199. brother failed in the expected standard of living

  200. between you and him. He misses the mark, your

  201. own mark, and not God's mark. All right? In the

  202. course of our relationship, he misses the mark

  203. towards you and not towards God. What do we do?

  204. We go. And when we go, what do we do? We tell

  205. the brother. We tell him his fault. Alright?

  206. He calls us to say verse 15. Go and tell him

  207. his fault. How? Between you and him alone. If

  208. he hates you, you have gained your brother. It

  209. says go. Okay? When there is a fault between

  210. you and a sister, what is the instruction? Go.

  211. A brother offends you, what do you do? You pray

  212. about it? You gather people around and tell them

  213. how the brother offended you? What do you do?

  214. You go to the brother. You go to the sister.

  215. Okay? Go out and speak. Tell him his fault. That's

  216. what the scripture says. You and him alone. So

  217. who will go? Who will do the going? Huh? Who

  218. will do the going? You that has been offended.

  219. Right? Not the person that offended you. But

  220. you that has been offended, the scripture says,

  221. what do you do? You initiate forgiveness and

  222. reconciliation. You and him alone. The brother

  223. is at 40 years, no doubt. It's not that about

  224. the faults. It's evidence. In fact, there is

  225. nobody that will look at the context of the offense

  226. and not know that you are the one that has been

  227. offended. The brother could be wrong, agreed.

  228. The sister could be wrong. Nevertheless, you

  229. are responsible for initiating forgiveness and

  230. reconciliation. Hallelujah. Now some of us will

  231. be saying, but this is not fair now. This is

  232. not fair. He's the one that offended me and he

  233. knows what he did. He did it intentionally and

  234. this is the first time he has done this. In fact,

  235. this is his character. This is what he loves

  236. doing. He just likes offending me. She likes

  237. offending me. The Bible says, do what? Go. Alright?

  238. You go. Sometimes the brother may not even know.

  239. Sometimes it is intentional. Nevertheless, the

  240. knowledge of the brother or the sister has no

  241. consequence to the instruction given to you.

  242. You must take the first step. You must take the

  243. first step towards what? Reconciliation, towards

  244. forgiveness and reconciliation. You must go.

  245. You know, offenses are built on lack of communication,

  246. right? Oftentimes, when issues are not communicated,

  247. it can pile up to bigger issues. Sometimes, you

  248. know, a brother and a sister in church, we are

  249. just all together, and then you just say something

  250. that is even a joke you make, and the person

  251. pick offense. And it blows up out of proportion.

  252. And most of the times that there's already a

  253. compilation of offenses that have not been communicated,

  254. all resolved offenses will lead to, you know,

  255. the destabilization of our relationship. Our

  256. relationship will not flow effectively. It becomes

  257. impossible for you to even minister to the person

  258. spiritually or be ministered to by the person

  259. spiritually because of offenses. So, offenses

  260. are built in the absence. Therefore, we must

  261. make ourselves, you know, available to discuss,

  262. to converse, and to relate, and to communicate

  263. them. So, if your brother sins against you, what

  264. should you do? Huh? What should we do? We do

  265. what? I want to hear the word go. What should

  266. we do? Do you understand the word go? Do we need

  267. to explain the Greek meaning of the word go?

  268. G -O, go. That's what it means. You go, right?

  269. In the Greek, it means to lead under. You take

  270. the leadership. You are the one to initiate what?

  271. We'll see why it's important. We'll see why this

  272. is very, very necessary. It means you have to

  273. take the lead in this reconciliation. So where

  274. do you go? What do you do? You tell him his fault.

  275. But how? Are you to just pour out your mind because

  276. the person has offended you? Telling him his

  277. fault is not fault finding. is not to go and

  278. make him know that he has committed a sin. That

  279. is not the goal of going to tell your brother.

  280. Going to tell your sister is not to prove a point

  281. that you've been offended. That is not the goal.

  282. Going is not to prove yourself to be right and

  283. the other person is in the wrong. That is not

  284. the goal of going. It's not to find fault. Or

  285. to negatively rebuke by telling the peace of

  286. your mind. I just want to go there and I'll tell

  287. that peace of my mind and then I'm gone. And

  288. that is how some of us, the moment we just pour

  289. out our mind, then we feel, we now feel relaxed.

  290. We feel at peace. No, that is not the peace of

  291. God. Amen. It is actually telling the person

  292. to expose the wrong done to you. Right? It's

  293. actually to expose the mistake or the offense

  294. in order to restore the relationship. That is

  295. the goal of going. In order to what? To restore

  296. the relationship. The relationship is more important

  297. than the offense. The relationship is a target.

  298. Of you going and not the offense itself. The

  299. relationship is more valuable than the offense.

  300. You must tell the person when offended because

  301. there is no room to keep quiet in God's family.

  302. We don't keep quiet with offenses. We don't keep

  303. quiet with offenses. There's no room for that.

  304. I said earlier on, I said pointing out the wrong

  305. is not equal to fault finding when you speak.

  306. You are not finding fault when you speak. All

  307. right? You're not looking for fault. But rather,

  308. your goal is to expose the wrong towards reconciliation

  309. of that relationship. And whenever a brother

  310. says he's sorry, you have no right. Okay? You

  311. have no right whatsoever to withhold forgiveness.

  312. You have no right as a believer to withhold forgiveness.

  313. They don't have to gather the entire village.

  314. They gather the village chief, the police, the

  315. district head, and everybody in your clan to

  316. go and ask you for forgiveness. Until they do

  317. some sacrifices and they not appease you. You

  318. have conditions. Until the person did all these

  319. things. I had a story of a guy that someone embarrassed

  320. him in the public. After many years, about 20

  321. years, they went to the brother and said, this

  322. person has realized how wrong he is. The person

  323. said, I don't have a problem. In fact, I don't

  324. have a problem forgiving this person. But if

  325. the person can gather everybody that is there

  326. that day. 20 years ago. Where would they even

  327. get the contact of everybody that was there?

  328. Then the person can now tell them in the front

  329. of everybody. Then I will now be satisfied and

  330. forgive. Who are you? What kind of a condition

  331. is that? So as believers, we must be quick to

  332. initiate forgiveness, to initiate reconciliation

  333. because that is God's instruction to us. Hallelujah.

  334. Verse 15 goes on to say, if he hears you, you

  335. have what? You have gained your brother. So the

  336. ultimate goal is to gain your brother and not

  337. to win the argument. All right? The ultimate

  338. goal is what? Is a relationship I've set for

  339. you to gain your brother and not win an argument

  340. or to show that you have been offended or to

  341. gather sympathy because some of us, what we do

  342. is that when we are offended, the quickest thing

  343. for us, what satisfies us is that we enjoy people

  344. sympathizing with us. It's not to gather sympathy

  345. and to prove that the person is wrong and you

  346. are right. But the goal is that you gain your

  347. brother. And the brother will be gained. The

  348. word gain there is a direct opposite of the word

  349. loss or perish. It's a direct opposite of the

  350. word perish or to lose. So if you don't go to

  351. him, you don't discuss the fault, there's a possibility

  352. that you will lose that brother. Or that relationship

  353. will perish? Relationship will perish? Now, the

  354. context says, when Jesus says, you've gained

  355. your brother, he's not speaking of an unselfish

  356. person. Okay? He's not speaking of an unselfish

  357. person. Jesus is speaking in the context of a

  358. relationship that relationship is restored. Alright?

  359. So the conclusion for us is that if you are offended,

  360. the moment you feel that you are offended, that

  361. moment that you feel that you are offended is

  362. the moment that you begin to initiate forgiveness

  363. and what? And reconciliation. It is your duty

  364. to seek for forgiveness and reconciliation. You

  365. don't have to wait for your brother to come to

  366. you, but you must go to him. You don't just forgive

  367. in your heart because that's what some of us

  368. do. I've forgiven her in my heart. I've forgiven

  369. her. I don't have any problem with him, but you

  370. see, we don't talk. Deep in my heart, I've forgiven

  371. her, but I have in this life, I will never do

  372. anything with her. I will never do anything with

  373. him. You make promises. You make promises. And

  374. you swear oaths never to do again with a brother

  375. in the Lord. But the instruction for us is to

  376. seek after forgiveness. You don't just forgive

  377. in your heart, but you must go and do what? And

  378. reconcile. It is an action we must take. We don't

  379. just forgive in our hearts. We go out there and

  380. what do we do? We reconcile. Jesus did not just

  381. forgive you in his heart. God did not just thought

  382. of the sin that you committed as an individual.

  383. God did not just, in the heavenlies, just think

  384. of our offense, of our separation with him, and

  385. then he just left it that way. He took an action,

  386. and the action is to reconcile us to himself.

  387. So that is the foundation by which we act. The

  388. essence of forgiveness is to restore the relationship.

  389. The essence of forgiveness is what? Is the restoration

  390. of that relationship. So forgiveness without

  391. reconciliation is not Christianity. It is not

  392. Christianity. We don't forgive and not relate

  393. with people. We don't forgive, then stop talking

  394. with people. We don't forgive and not reconcile

  395. with people. We must forgive and reconcile and

  396. keep relating. Hallelujah. I know for sure that

  397. there is a part where the other individual is

  398. not willing to relate, is not willing to reconcile.

  399. All right? We'll talk about that later and subsequently.

  400. You know, the Bible asks us to treat him as what?

  401. Treat him like a heathen, like a tax collector.

  402. Well, look at what that means subsequently. So

  403. sometimes this seems hard, okay? It seems very

  404. hard. How can this person with this level of

  405. offense, oh, pastor, you don't understand what

  406. this brother has done. You don't understand the

  407. magnitude of this crime. You don't understand

  408. the magnitude of this offense. You don't understand

  409. the degree. of what this brother did to me. You

  410. don't understand the degree to which this offense

  411. is to me. You don't know how many years I've

  412. been under the infliction of this offense. You

  413. don't know what this has cost me. You don't know

  414. how this has affected my entire career. You don't

  415. know how this has affected my entire relationship

  416. with others. How can you just say I should forgive?

  417. You don't know how many times he has wronged

  418. me. You don't know how many times. And let's

  419. say Jesus' reply to the disciples. Because when

  420. he was teaching them this, it was counterculture

  421. for them. It was something so hard and it was

  422. something hard to chew. Luke chapter 17. Let's

    Luke 17 chapter mention

  423. start from Luke 17. Luke 17 from verse 1. Jesus

  424. said, verse 3, Jesus says, take heed to yourself.

  425. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him.

  426. Now, this rebuke, right, is not to shout and

  427. scream at him. All right? It's not negative incognition.

  428. All right? It's the same thing as we saw in Matthew

  429. 18. Go to him and reason concerning the wrong.

  430. Okay? So, Take it to yourself. If your brother

  431. sins against you, rebuke him. And if he repents,

  432. forgive him. And if he sins against you seven

  433. times in a day, and seven times in a day retires

  434. to you, saying, I repent, you shall what? You

  435. shall forgive him. And the disciples, understanding

  436. what Jesus said, they asked him in the next verse.

  437. And the apostles said to him, Lord, increase

  438. our faith. In a way, Lord, help my heart. In

  439. a way, help me to do this because I don't believe

  440. I can do it. Alright? Now look at what Jesus

  441. said in verse 6. So the Lord said, if you have

  442. faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this

  443. mulberry tree. Now, in the context, now what

  444. is the context? Because some of us have also

  445. misquoted this passage to say, oh, If you have

  446. faith, you can tell this mountain to move. You

  447. don't know the mountain or the tree that is speaking.

  448. He's talking about forgiveness as a context.

  449. Amen? That is to say, with your faith in your

  450. heart, you can forgive. How big that thing is,

  451. you can forgive. No matter how big and thick

  452. and how long the offense is, you can forgive.

  453. So if you have faith as a mustard seed, You can

  454. say to this mulberry tree, be pulled up by the

  455. roots and be planted in the sea and it will obey

  456. you. And look at this parable he gave, this story

  457. he gave. And which of you, having a servant plowing

  458. or tending sheep, will say to him when he has

  459. come in from the field, come at once and sit

  460. down to eat. But will he not rather say to him,

  461. Right? Prepare something for my supper and guard

  462. yourself and serve me that I have eaten and drunk

  463. and afterwards you will eat and drink. It's a

  464. question Jesus was asking. That is to say, of

  465. whom of you, having a servant, having a slave,

  466. who came from the field, you call that slave

  467. and say, come and sit with me on the table. Will

  468. you not tell that servant to go and make the

  469. foods? And when you've eaten, you are satisfied,

  470. then what will happen? You can say, oh yeah,

  471. I'll go and do what you want to do. Is that not

  472. what you do? Speaking in human's terms, in human's

  473. relationship. All right? Verse 8. But would he

  474. not rather say to him, prepare something for

  475. my supper, and guard yourself, and serve me till

  476. I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will

  477. eat and drink? Verse 9. Does he thank the servant

  478. because he did the things that were commanded

  479. him? I think not. After the servant have cooked

  480. for you, have cleaned your house, have prepared

  481. the table and have eaten with you, do you tell

  482. the servant thank you? Is it not his job? Is

  483. it not what you bought him for? Is that not what

  484. he's supposed to do? Jesus says, I think not.

  485. You don't thank him. All right? So likewise,

  486. you, when you have done all those things which

  487. you were commanded, say, We are unprofitable

  488. servants. We have done what was our duty to do.

  489. All right? So Jesus is comparing the conduct

  490. of the servant. Now, the servant is not expecting

  491. the master to thank him for doing all those things

  492. because he's a slave. And that is his duty. The

  493. instructions from the master is the responsibility

  494. of the servant. So Jesus will say, We have done

  495. what was our duty to do. We are unprofitable

  496. servants. We have done what was our duty to do.

  497. Now this is in context to the instruction and

  498. the commandment to forgive. That is to say, you

  499. are obligated to obey the commandment regardless

  500. of how you feel. Regardless of how you feel because

  501. it is an instruction from God. An instruction

  502. from God. You are a servant of God. You what?

  503. You forgive. You have to what? You have to forgive.

  504. We must forgive because it is a command. You

  505. were an unworthy servant. Unworthy of forgiveness.

  506. But God forgave you. But God forgave you. And

  507. we can see how perplexed they were and they were

  508. asking Jesus to increase their faith. And he's

  509. telling them, you, when your faith is like a

  510. mustard seed, we are not saying that it's a faith

  511. size of a mustard seed. No. It's not faith that

  512. is as a mustard seed. But the moment you believe

  513. in Jesus Christ as your Savior, you have the

  514. ability to allow the Spirit to walk through you

  515. to forgive others. So building you, is the ability

  516. to do what? To forgive sins. So forgiveness and

  517. reconciliation actually is the Christmas message.

  518. Hallelujah. That is the Christmas message. Forgiveness

  519. and what? And reconciliation. Now the birth of

  520. Jesus Christ marks the moment that God initiated

  521. to grant mercy unto us. As Scripture states,

  522. God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself.

  523. What was he not doing? He was not counting people's

  524. sin against him. 2 Corinthians 5. 2 Corinthians

  525. 5 .17 Now, I want you to look at this clearly.

  526. Right? God will never give you an instruction

  527. to do something that He Himself has not done.

  528. Hallelujah. So, He is a leader. He leads us into

  529. doing what He instructs us to do. If you say

  530. you must forgive, it's because He Himself has

  531. taken the lead in forgiving. Hallelujah. So,

  532. verse 17 says, If anyone in Christ, he is what?

  533. He is a new creation. All things have what? Passed

  534. away. Behold, all things have become new. How?

  535. Now all things are of God who has what? What

  536. has he done? Look up. What has he done? Is it

  537. that he is reconciling us or he has reconciled

  538. us? He has reconciled us to who? To himself.

  539. Through Jesus Christ. And has given to us the

  540. what? The ministry of what? Of reconciliation.

  541. So reconciliation is a message that we have received

  542. to preach. Alright? Remember when we were talking

  543. about binding and losing? Alright? And we said

  544. that the context of that binding and losing is

  545. that we preach forgiveness and reconciliation

  546. to men. Also, in this context, we are speaking

  547. about binding and losing. In Matthew 18, is that

  548. we bind and lose ourselves within ourselves,

  549. the relationship within us in the context of

  550. our living together. That we are able to do what

  551. we forgive and reconcile within ourselves. So,

  552. reconciliation, forgiveness and reconciliation

  553. is both a message and a lifestyle for the believer.

  554. That we don't only go out to preach that Jesus

  555. As forgiving sins, we don't want to go out to

  556. preach that God in Christ has reconciled us and

  557. is reconciling the world to himself, but that

  558. we in our conduct towards one another, we do

  559. what? We forgive one another and we reconcile

  560. with one another. Our conduct towards one another

  561. becomes the message we preach. How will they

  562. know that you are my children? Is it not in that

  563. you forgive one? To another that you love one

  564. another and that is forgiveness within you? Or

  565. more yourself? Forgiveness and reconciliation

  566. is a Christian message. Now this divine initiative

  567. teaches us that God has set an example for us

  568. in forgiveness and reconciliation. God is not

  569. just commanding that we forgive and reconcile

  570. with one another, but he has first demonstrated

  571. that for us. Then he commanded us, who have received

  572. forgiveness that he has given, who have been

  573. reconciled to him. Then he commanded us, do likewise

  574. as I have done to you. Do likewise as I have

  575. done for you. I have reconciled you to myself.

  576. I have brought you into union with me. Because

  577. we ourselves have missed the mark towards God.

  578. By the standard of God's perfection, All men

  579. have trespassed. We have what? We have all transgressed.

  580. Romans 3, verse 9. Give me Romans 3, verse 9.

    Romans 3:9 Romans 3:9

  581. Romans 3. 9. What then? Are we better than they?

  582. Not at all. For we have previously charged both

  583. Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.

  584. Now, God's perfect standard is his law. All right?

  585. God's law is a standard by which we are judged.

  586. As it is written, there's no righteous, no not

  587. one. There's no who understands. There's no who

  588. seek after God. They have all torn aside. to

  589. gain have become unprofitable. There is none

  590. who does good, not one. Their throat is an open

  591. tomb. With their tongues they have practiced

  592. deceit. The poison of abs is under their lips,

  593. whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.

  594. Their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction

  595. and misery are in their ways, and the way of

  596. peace they have not known. There is no fear of

  597. God before their eyes. Now, We know that whatever

  598. the law says, it says those who are under the

  599. law, that every mouth may be stopped and all

  600. the world may become guilty before God. So by

  601. the law, all of us are guilty before God. By

  602. the law, all of us. By the law, by the standard

  603. of the law, all of us are guilty before God.

  604. Therefore, by the deeds of the law, no flesh

  605. will be justified in his sight. For by the law

  606. is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness

  607. of God, apart from the law, is revealed, been

  608. witnessed by the law and the prophets. Now the

  609. law and the prophets. In the righteousness of

  610. God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and

  611. on all who would, who believe. For there's no

  612. difference. For all have seen and fall short

  613. of the glory of God, being justified freely by

  614. his grace through the redemption that is in Christ

  615. Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by

  616. his blood, through faith to demonstrate his righteousness,

  617. because in his forbearance God had passed over

  618. the sins that were previously committed. So God

  619. in his forbearance has passed over your sin.

  620. He has passed over my sins. He has passed over

  621. my offense, our offenses towards God. God in

  622. Christ has dealt with it. Verse 26. To demonstrate

  623. at the present time his righteousness, that he

  624. might be just and a justifier of the one who

  625. has said in Jesus Christ. Hallelujah. So, By

  626. the standard of God's perfection, all men have

  627. trespassed. We have transgressed against God.

  628. But in Jesus Christ, what we see is that he has

  629. dealt with our sins. He has forgiven our sins

  630. unconditionally, once and for all and forever.

  631. Never to remember our offenses. By the standard

  632. of God's perfection, All men are worthy of condemnation.

  633. All of us, by virtue of God's standards, we are

  634. worthy of condemnation. Ezekiel 18 verse 4. Ezekiel

    Ezekiel 18:4 Ezekiel 18:4

  635. 18 verse 4. Ezekiel 18 verse 4. It will say that

    Ezekiel 18:4

  636. the soul that sin, right? The consequences of

  637. sin is what? Is death. Behold, all souls are

  638. mine. The souls of the father as well as the

  639. soul of the son is mine. The soul who sins shall

  640. what? Shall die. That is the Lord's judgment.

  641. I will see it emphasized in Romans 6 .23. When

  642. Paul was discussing law and grace in Romans 6,

    Romans 6:23

  643. verse 23, Romans 6, verse 23, it says, For the

    Romans 6:23

  644. wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is

  645. eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. The penalty

  646. of sin that we've done, To us, God is death.

  647. But we see in Christ, He has given us life. He

  648. has forgiven us. He has reconciled us to Himself.

  649. He has given us eternal life. Not just forgiveness

  650. for the meantime, but forgiveness forever. Hallelujah.

  651. So, when we offended God, what did God do? When

  652. we sinned against God, what did He do? What did

  653. he do? Huh? Who can tell us what God did when

  654. we sin against him? He came to us. Isn't it?

  655. Hallelujah. God carried to us. Hmm? When we sin,

  656. what did God do? When man, okay, let me use the

  657. word man. When man sin, what did God do? theme

  658. to man. Is that not the Christmas message? Hmm?

  659. Is that not the Christmas message? What happened?

  660. Jesus was born. Why was he born? So that we can

  661. have Christmas today? So that we can have sweet

  662. hymns to be singing? He came because we messed

  663. up. He came because we are not worthy. He came

  664. because we have missed the mark. He came because

  665. There is a trespass because we are separated

  666. from him. That was why he came. He didn't come

  667. to give us the religion. He came because there

  668. was a separation. Matthew chapter 1 verse 18.

    Matthew 1:18

  669. Yes. Matthew chapter 1 verse 18. Now the birth

    Matthew 1:18

  670. of Jesus Christ was as follows. After his mother

  671. Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came

  672. together, there was a scandal. There was a scandal.

  673. Mary was pregnant and Joseph was not responsible.

  674. Hallelujah. She was found with a child of who?

  675. Of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph, her husband,

  676. being kind of a kind man, not wanting to disgrace

  677. her in the public, he didn't want to post it

  678. on his Facebook status, on social media to make

  679. everybody see that Mary has messed up. He planned

  680. to quietly serve her breakfast. To secretly what?

  681. Put her away, right? But while he thought about

  682. these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared

  683. to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David,

  684. do not be afraid to take to you Mary, your wife,

  685. for that which is conceived in her is of the

  686. Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a son,

  687. and you shall call his name Jesus. For he will

  688. do what? will save his people from their sins.

  689. So what brought him into the world is the salvation

  690. of men from their sins. So all this was done

  691. that it might be fulfilled because it was prophesied

  692. by God, which was spoken by the prophet through

  693. the prophet saying, Behold, the virgin shall

  694. be with a child, and bear a son, and they shall

  695. call his name Emmanuel, which is translated,

  696. God has come to men. Hallelujah. We sinned and

  697. God came to us. Amen. We sinned, right? Man sinned

  698. and God came. God came to man. Do you see why

  699. I was emphasizing you must go, you must go, you

  700. must go, you must go? Because God has come. Jesus

  701. has come. So you must go. God came to man. 1

    1 Timothy 1:15

  702. Timothy 1 verse 15. 1 Timothy 1 verse 15. This

    1 Timothy 1:15

  703. is a faithful saying that is unworthy of all

  704. acceptance. That Christ Jesus did what? Came

  705. into the world. To do what? To save sinners.

  706. Christ did what? He came. into the world, which

  707. means that he existed before the world. He only

  708. came into the world to save sinners of whom Paul

  709. says, I am chief of Galatians 4. Christ came

  710. into the world. Christ came to us. He came into

  711. humanity because of sin. Galatians 4. Galatians

  712. 4. The Christmas message is about forgiveness

  713. and it's about reconciliation. But when the fullness

  714. of time had come, what did God do? God sent forth

  715. his son, born of a woman. Is this Christmas?

  716. Born under the law. Right? To do what? To redeem

  717. those who were under the law that we might receive.

  718. The adoptions as sons, to be reconciled and be

  719. brought into union with him, to become family

  720. with him. That is why we have Christmas. God

  721. came and died for us. Even when we were in sin,

  722. which means that we were... We didn't merit God

  723. coming to die for us. We were not good before

  724. he came. Hallelujah. Which means that if your

  725. brother sins against you, he doesn't have to

  726. have, he doesn't have to deserve your forgiveness

  727. before you forgive. Which means that even your

  728. dad that has abused and misused and abused you,

  729. He doesn't have to deserve your forgiveness because

  730. you yourself, while you are yet in sin. Romans

    Romans 5:8

  731. 5 verse 8. Romans 5 verse 8. Romans 5 verse 8.

    Romans 5:8 Romans 5:8

  732. It says, but God, what did he do? He demonstrates

  733. his own love towards us in that while we were

  734. still sinners. Christ. He did die in heaven.

  735. Where did he die? On the earth. Which means he

  736. came to us. He died to fix the issue of our relationship

  737. with God. Even while we were still in rebellion.

  738. Even when we didn't even know that there is an

  739. offense. Even when we were in ignorance. I wanted

  740. to use the word ignoramus. We were undeserving

  741. of his love. Nevertheless. Who initiated the

  742. coming? Did you pray before God came and died

  743. for our sins? Did anybody pray that God will

  744. understand the condition of man before Jesus

  745. came? The birth of Jesus, was it a prayer who

  746. brought it about? Were they sort of prophets

  747. that were praying to enforce, to make the hand

  748. of God to move, to come and save humanity? It

  749. is God all by himself initiating the forgiveness.

  750. It is God all by himself initiating our reconciliation

  751. to him. So John chapter 3 verse 16 will say,

    John 3:16

  752. God loves what? Everybody. God loves the entire

  753. world, including sinners. The love of God is

  754. all that is compassionate to even those who are

  755. not deserving of his love. You are not deserving

  756. of his love, yet he died for you. Hallelujah.

  757. So collectively, we are partakers of the unconditional

  758. love of God. We are partakers of the forgiveness

  759. and the reconciliation of God. Therefore, it

  760. becomes an instruction. It becomes a command

  761. that you, when your brother sees against you,

  762. what do you do? You go to him. And what do you

  763. do? You reconcile the matter. Because the goal

  764. of God was to gain us. Alright? So, if you look

  765. at it, he didn't think of his godliness, as the

  766. scripture would say. He didn't think of his status

  767. as something so precious for him. He didn't think

  768. of his purity and holiness as something to withhold

  769. to himself. But he came down in the form of a

  770. man like us, live, in this body like we have,

  771. limited in space and even knowledge because he

  772. has to learn the scriptures. He has to eat and

  773. sleep and do the things we do. He came at our

  774. level, interacted with us that he may die a very

  775. shameful death for the redemption of men. So

  776. what level can you go in order to reconcile with

  777. your brother or with your sister? To what extent

  778. have God not gone for us? To what extent can

  779. you go that will surpass what Christ has done

  780. for us? Hallelujah. So reconciliation is a must.

  781. Forgiving and reconciling is a must. And how

  782. often should we brothers sin against us? That's

  783. what we're going to look at it from next, from

  784. on Sunday. I will see Jesus begin to give a parable.

  785. All right? Jesus gave a parable. Then Peter came

  786. to him and said, Lord, how often shall my brother

  787. sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven

  788. times. Jesus said to him, I do not say to you

  789. up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

  790. Therefore, the kingdom of heaven. The family

  791. that we belong to, right, is as this. A certain

  792. king who wanted to settle accounts with his servant,

  793. and when he had begun to settle accounts, once

  794. one was brought to him who owed him 10 ,000 talents,

  795. but as he who was not able to pay, his master

  796. commanded that he be sold with his wife and his

  797. children and all. that he had and the payment

  798. he made. Then the servant fell before him and

  799. said, Master, have patience with me and I will

  800. pray you all. Then the master of that servant

  801. was knowing with compassion, release him. This

  802. releasing is losing. It's what is called the

  803. binding and the losing. The master released him

  804. and forgave him his debt. And that is what God

  805. has done for us. And he expects that we, similarly,

  806. should be able to do or demonstrate such virtue

  807. one to another. Especially, especially, specifically,

  808. those of the household of faith. Now, as we think

  809. of Christmas, our mind should be set on what

  810. God has done for us in Christ. And what our conduct

  811. should be. What our response should be. First

  812. of all, Force one another. Until next time, stay

  813. blessed.
