Welcome to NECF sermons. Each message here is
-
designed to uplift and strengthen you in your
-
walk with God. Don't miss out. Stay with us until
-
the end for a rewarding experience. Let's dive
-
right in. Or how we receive faith? Romans 10
-
verse 17. Romans 10 verse 17. So then faith comes
-
by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Faith
-
comes by hearing and by hearing the word of God.
-
And we asked a question last Sunday. We said
-
which precise word of God do we hear to receive
-
faith? And we noted importantly that in different
-
dispensation, faith is received differently but
-
fundamentally through the Word of God, through
-
the Word of God. Hallelujah. So in Hebrews chapter
-
1 verse 1, Hebrews chapter 1 verse 1 and verse
-
2, in the Old Kingdom James says, God who at
-
sundry times and in diverse manners, He spoke.
-
He spoke in the time past to the fathers. He
-
spoke to the fathers in the time past by the
-
prophets. So this is how He spoke to them. You
-
know, He spoke to them by the prophets. So the
-
words that the prophets spoke to them were the
-
word of God. The prophets were speaking as the
-
mild piece of God. God was speaking through the
-
prophets, exposing them to His word. So the words
-
which the prophets were speaking Were the words
-
of God verse 2 says hath in these last days in
-
these last days Talking about our era Okay hath
-
in these last days spoken unto us by his son
-
Whom he had appointed heir of all things by whom
-
all so he made the world hallelujah So we'll
-
see that the method by which God to communicate
-
faith to us in our own generation is by the Son.
-
Okay? The method by which we receive faith is
-
by the Son. In the time past, God spoke through
-
the prophets and we established that what God
-
spoke to them was a promise concerning the Son.
-
All right? That the Word of God spoken to the
-
fathers was the Word of God was a promise. And
-
we see that the content or the central message
-
of what God spoke to them in types and shadows,
-
in different methods, in different analogies,
-
in different methods was centrally concerning
-
what He will do in the person of Jesus Christ.
-
Hallelujah. So the expectation then Was for them
-
to receive what God have said Just as for us
-
we agree what God have said and we receive what
-
God have said Okay, so for them it was a promise
-
that God made and the expectation was for them
-
to receive the word and then later on in Hebrews
-
of the four Precisely verse one and two I think
-
down we see where The writer will say that they
-
didn't accept what God said They didn't align
-
themselves with what God said but rather they
-
They were in unbelief. All right God spoke and
-
they didn't receive the word of God and they
-
become unbelievers So there's another example
-
that I want us to see in Numbers chapter 13 Numbers
Numbers 13 chapter mention Numbers 13 chapter mention
-
chapter 13 from verse From verse 1 God's dealing
-
with the children of Israel in Numbers chapter
Numbers 13 chapter mention
-
13 From verse 1 to 3 let's see from verse 1 to
-
3 and the Lord spoke to Moses saying this is
-
what God spoke to Moses Send men to spy out the
-
land of Canaan Which I am giving to the children
-
of Israel, so how will the people of Israel get
-
the land of Canaan? How will they get the land
-
of Canaan? By going to take the land God said
-
that I am going to what I'm giving to the children
-
of Israel Which means that God is the one giving
-
in the land of Kenan. All right From each tribe
-
of their fathers. You shall send a man everyone
-
a leader among them So if they move into the
-
land of Israel or into the land of Kenan, what
-
are they doing? They are responding to what to
-
what God have said So can we say that their action
-
will be the action that is funded on faith? All
-
right God said is going to give it to them. So
-
when they move Their obedience of moving into
-
the land will be the walk of faith, right? So
-
send men to spy out the land of Canon verse 2
-
again Which I am giving to the children of Israel
-
from each tribe of their fathers You shall send
-
a man everyone a leader among them verse 3 So
-
mothers send them send them from will from the
-
willingness of parent according to the command
-
of the Lord All of the men of them men who were
-
heads of the children of Israel jumped to verse
-
26 verse 26 verse 26 yes now they departed now
-
they've gone to the land of kenna of kenna they've
-
spied the land verse 26 the context of what is
-
is that they've returned now they departed and
-
came back to moses and eron all the congregation
-
and all the congregation of each of children
-
of israel in the wilderness of paran at kadesh
-
they brought back words to them to all the congregation
-
and showed them the fruits of the land Then they
-
told him and said we went to the land where he
-
sent us it truly flows with milk and honey and
-
This is the fruit now milk and honey are figures
-
of speech in the land of Kenan We cannot see
-
milk flowing like water. So be very Wise as we
-
read the scriptures, right? You know what figure
-
of speech, ah? So nevertheless, the people who
-
dwell in the land are what? Are strong. The cities
-
are fortified and very large. Moreover, we saw
-
the descendants of Anak there. The Amalakites
-
dwell in the land of the south, the Hittites,
-
the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the
-
mountains, and the Canaanites dwell by the sea
-
and along the banks of the Jordan. Is it true?
-
What they said? Is it a fact? Hmm? What they
-
said concerning the land? Is it a land from where
-
we will make our honey? Yes. Is it a fruitful
-
land? Yes. Are there Amalakites there? Yes. Are
-
there... Jubusites, right? Are there people on
-
the land occupying the land? Yes. The Amalakites
-
dwell in the land of the south, the Hittites,
-
the Jubusites, and the Amorites dwell in the
-
mountains, and the Canaanites dwell by the sea
-
and along the banks of the Jordan. This is factual.
-
Are we together? What have God said concerning
-
that land? I will give it to you. All right?
-
Then Caleb quieted the people because out of
-
the spies sent out there were two we'll see later
-
on. So one of the two that were unique from the
-
remaining ten was Caleb. Then Caleb quieted the
-
people before Moses and said let us go up at
-
once and take possession for we are well able
-
to overcome it. overcome what overcome all like
-
is in the land the people that were there were
-
able to overcome but the man who had grown up
-
with him said we are not able to go up against
-
the people for they are what they are stronger
-
than what than we divergence of what of testimony
-
okay one says we are able to take it another
-
one say we are not able to take it okay so From
-
the abundance of your heart Your mouth will speak
-
All right, and they gave the children of Israel
-
a bad word a battle port of the land Which they
-
had spied out saying the land through which we
-
have gone as spice is a land that devours its
-
inhabitants and all the people whom we saw in
-
it are men of great stature are men great statue
-
all right so let's jump to chapter 14 and see
-
how the story continues chapter 14 from verse
-
1 so all the congregation leader of their voice
-
look at the look look look at the result of the
-
report of the 10 the majority you know in our
-
world today the majority carry the divorce right
-
so the majority always have their say no the
-
minority will have their say But the majority
-
will have their their way. All right So all the
-
congregation lives over their voices and cried
-
and the people wept that night. Why why did they
-
weep? Their weeping was because of what they
-
heard Was because of what they heard All right.
-
God said something Okay And there was a report
-
they had and they were weeping because of the
-
bad report they received And all the children
-
of Israel complained. Look at the product of
-
their unbelief, their weeping. They complained
-
against Moses and Aaron and the whole congregation
-
and said to them, if only we had died in where?
-
In the land of Egypt. Now, I want you to understand
-
where they are. All right? They've journeyed
-
over years. They were just a few, I would say
-
a few steps into the promised land. They are
-
not far from the promised land. They've wondered
-
through the journey through the wilderness all
-
over these years and they are the point where
-
the journey is to just enter and then possess
-
And look at their complaint against Moses and
-
Aaron and the whole congregation said to them
-
if only we had died away in the land of Egypt
-
or If only we had died in the wilderness Why
-
has the Lord brought us now? They've moved from
-
Moses to the Lord. Why has the Lord brought us
-
to this land? to fall by the sword that our wives
-
and children should become victims will it not
-
be better for us to return to Egypt so they said
-
to one another let us select a leader and return
-
to Egypt then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces
-
before all the assembly of the congregation of
-
the children of Israel but Joshua the son of
-
Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh who were among
-
these those who have spied out the land, they
-
tore their clothes, right? They tore their clothes
-
and they spoke to all the congregation of the
-
children of Israel saying, the land we pass through
-
to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the
-
Lord delights in us, then he will bring us into
-
the land, into this land and what? And give it
-
to us, okay? and give it to us, a land which
-
flows with milk and honey. Only do not rebel
-
against the Lord, nor fear the people of the
-
land, for they are our what? They are our what?
-
What does faith see? Faith sees different from
-
doubt, right? So, no fear the people of the land,
-
for they are our bread. Their protection has
-
departed from them. And the law is what is with
-
us Do not fear them. So what is the inspiration
-
of the testimony of Caleb and Joshua? The Lord
-
what Lord have said, right? What God have said
-
Okay, and all the congregation said To stone
-
them with stones Now the glory of the Lord appeared
-
in the tabernacle of meeting before all the children
-
of Israel so they wanted to stun them because
-
of the of their because of the statement of faith
-
they made then the Lord said to Moses how long
-
will these people reject me and how long will
-
they not believe so what was what what were they
-
expected to do to believe what God have said
-
right to believe me with all the signs which
-
I have performed among them they've seen the
-
miraculous dealings of God all through the wilderness
-
They've seen how God has preserved them. They've
-
seen how God has made provision for them. They've
-
seen how God has kept them They've seen how God
-
has navigated them through difficulties in the
-
wilderness even the experience they had in Egypt
-
and We may be quick to bash them terribly for
-
their own belief and that Could be our own disposition
-
today All right We've seen how God have saved
-
us in Christ. Okay, the salvation we've experienced
-
We believe that we are saved by grace. We believe
-
they were eternally saved We believe that we
-
are preserved by God. We believe that to the
-
autumn was we are able to be kept in the grace
-
of God We've seen God's divine protection. We've
-
seen God's divine provision. We've experienced
-
the goodness of God in diverse ways But it seems
-
as though What our eyes is seeing in the physical
-
Has erased whatever testimony with experience
-
of God has nullified the entirety of the goodness
-
of God So the journey ahead of us right seems
-
to be You know Overshadowing all that God has
-
done for us. We forget the goodness of we forget
-
the faithfulness of what we forget the preservation
-
of God We forget all the things that God has
-
done For 40 years these men have been eating
-
without cooking. Manas was falling from heaven.
-
The Bible says their clothes did not tear for
-
those years. They've seen what has come out of
-
rock. They've seen the cloud and all the miraculous
-
things that God has done but yet their attention
-
is grounded. on what on what they see in the
-
fiscal then they they are they they trash aside
-
or they push aside what God have said I will
-
strike them this is what was saying with pestilence
-
and dis inherit them and I will make of you a
-
nation greater than greater and mightier than
-
them and Moses said to the Lord then the Egyptians
-
will hear it for by your mind you brought for
-
by your mind you brought out you brought these
-
people from among them and they will tell it
-
to the inhabitants of this land they have heard
-
that you you lord among these people that you
-
lord are seen face to face and your cloud stands
-
above them and you go before them in a pillar
-
of cloud by day and a pillar of cloud fire by
-
night now if you kill these people as one man
-
then the nations which have heard of your theme
-
will speak saying Because the Lord was not able
-
to bring these people to the land which he swore
-
to give them Therefore he what he killed them
-
in the wilderness And now I pray let the power
-
of the Lord be great just as you have spoken
-
seen the Lord is what? It's long -suffering All
-
right, the Lord is long -suffering and abandoning
-
mercy. This is the character of God forgiving
-
iniquity and transgression but he by no means
-
clears the guilty visiting us the iniquity of
-
the fathers on the children to the third and
-
the fourth generations pardon the iniquity of
-
these people I pray according to the greatness
-
of your mercy just as you have forgiven these
-
people from Egypt even until now then the law
-
said I have pardoned according to your word but
-
truly as I live All the earth shall be filled
-
with what? All the earth shall be filled with
-
what? With the glory of the Lord. Right? Even
-
their unbelief cannot stop the earth from being
-
filled with the glory of the Lord. Because all
-
these men who have seen my glory and the signs
-
which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness and
-
have put me to the test. Now these 10 times,
-
10 times. And I've not heeded my voice. They
-
were meant to heed the voice of God. They were
-
meant to hear what God said and live in agreement
-
what God said. They certainly shall not see the
-
land of which I swore to their fathers. All right?
-
Nor shall any of these who rejected me see it.
-
So we'll read to the end, we'll discover that
-
all these men that refuse to believe the word
-
of God couldn't enter the promised land. couldn't
-
enter the land of kenan okay they couldn't enter
-
the kenan land and hebrews will speak of them
-
thus in hebrew chapter 3 verse 14 hebrews 3 verse
-
14 says for we have become partakers of christ
-
talking about the believer here if we hold the
-
beginning of our confidence steadfast to the
-
end while it says today if you will hear this
-
voice do not harden your heart as in the rebellion
-
so when you hear what are you supposed to do
-
not to harden your heart in unbelief right as
-
in the rebel for who have you heard the people
-
of easel haven't heard what do they hear they
-
hear the word of god right but they rebel indeed
-
was it not all who came out of egypt led by moses
-
now with whom was he angry for 40 years was it
-
not with those who sinned what was their sin
-
they refused to accept what god said they refused
-
to believe in what god said whose corpses fell
-
in the wilderness and to whom did he swear that
-
they will not enter his rest but to those who
-
did not obey so entering the rest is a product
-
of what of obeying okay so we see that they could
-
not enter in because of what because of unbelief
-
because of unbelief verse 20 okay move down to
-
uh chapter 14 chapter 4 verse 6 right chapter
-
4 verse 6 4 verse 6 yes since therefore it remains
-
that some must enter it and those to whom it
-
was first preached did not enter because of what
-
because of disobedience okay again he designates
-
a certain day saying in david the prophecy of
-
david today after such a long time as it has
-
been said today if you will hear his voice do
-
you know what Not having your heart. So when
-
you hear the voice of the Lord when you hear
-
the word of the Lord The expectation is that
-
we want we accept the word of the Lord for if
-
Joshua had given them rest Okay, then he will
-
not after what have spoken of another day there
-
remains therefore arrest For the people of God
-
for he was enter his rest has himself also ceased
-
from his works as God did from his from his let
-
us therefore be diligent to enter that Rest less
-
anyone fall according to the same example of
-
disobedience. Hallelujah So the conduct of the
-
Israelites was used as an example to teach us
-
faith. Are we together? It's used by the writer
-
here to talk about the faith Alright, the faith
-
that we have is a function of what of obedience
-
and obedience is to what God have said Hallelujah
-
So the expectation is that God said something
-
and what do we do? We receive what God said.
-
We anchor our life on what God has said and we
-
receive the faith of God. Hallelujah. So to the
-
Israelites, we see that it is a promise that
-
God made. Okay. And then they were expected to
-
receive the promise of God. In the four gospels,
-
faith was received in the four gospels. What
-
did they believe in the four gospels? What did
-
they believe? The people in the Old Testament
-
in court believe in a promise. What about those
-
in the four gospels? What do they believe? John
John 1 chapter mention
-
chapter 1. Let's read from verse 1. John chapter
1 John 1 chapter mention
-
1. Now the reason why we have to go this way
-
is to help us that next time when we begin to
-
look at the works of faith, we will begin to
-
live with, we will begin to work with understanding,
-
all right? That we will not want to live as those
-
who that are in the in the Old Testament because
-
we are living in the reality of what God has
-
done. Hallelujah. John chapter 1 from verse 1.
John 1 chapter mention
-
In the beginning was the word And the word was
-
with God and the word was God He was in the beginning
-
with God all things were made through him and
-
without him nothing was made that was made in
-
him was life and the life was the light of men
-
and the light shines in a darkness and Darkness
-
did not comprehend it. There was a man sent from
-
God whose name was John this man came for a witness
-
to bear witness of the light that all through
-
him might believe he was not that light but was
-
sent to bear witness of that light that was a
-
true light which gives light to every man coming
-
into the world he was in the world and the world
-
was met through him and the world did not know
-
him he came to his own and his own did not receive
-
him verse 12 important look at verse 12 carefully
-
but as many as received him okay as many as received
-
him he gave the right to what to become the children
-
of god to those who what who believe in his name
-
stop there verse 12 stop at verse 12 he gave
-
the right to become the sons of god hallelujah
-
so to those who what who believe in his name
-
Hold on to this verse 12. We'll come back to
-
it later on. Give me verse 45. We're trying to
-
look at what did they believe in the gospels.
-
All right. Philip found Nathaniel and said to
-
him, we have found him of whom Moses in the law.
-
OK, Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote.
-
What did they write about? What is the center
-
of what they wrote about? Jesus of Nazareth,
-
the son of who? Of Joseph. so what they are saying
-
is that they found the messiah that was spoken
-
of in the prophets okay spoken of by moses and
-
the prophets so they believe that jesus is what
-
is the promise all right they accepted jesus
-
as what as the promised messiah very important
-
30 we see constantly in the in the gospels that
-
they believe him all right what did they believe
-
and he spoke these words look at the context
-
he spoke these words and the bible says many
-
believed in him okay many believed in jesus verse
-
chapter 7 verse 31 chapter 7 verse 31 john chapter
-
7 verse 31 and many of the people believe in
-
him they believe who they believe in jesus and
-
said when the christ comes he will do more science
-
than this which this man has done so what do
-
they believe about him if he is not the Christ
-
so they are looking forward to a Christ what
-
do they believe hmm okay let's move on to the
-
10 verse 42 John chapter 10 verse 42 and many
-
believed in him there he will go there he will
-
teach okay and then he will do miracles and the
-
Bible says they believe in him chapter 10 verse
-
37 chapter 10 verse 37 if i do not if i do if
-
i do not Do the works of my father Do not believe
-
me. Okay, that is to say by his works They are
-
expected to believe that he is who God says he
-
is I read together Matthew chapter 16 verse 15
-
to 16. Let's see what the disciples themselves
-
by the words of Peter Matthew 16 verse 15 to
-
16 Matthew 16 verse 15 to 16 So Jesus said are
-
you know? 15 16 15 Matthew 16 15 Yes, he said
-
to them, but who do you say? I am was 16 Simon
-
Peter answered and said you are the Christ the
-
Son of the Living God. All right, you are the
-
Christ a Christ the Son of the Living God meaning
-
that Jesus Christ is The Messiah has been promised.
-
All right, if you go to the altar cement, there's
-
a prophecy Concerning the Christ concerning the
-
Messiah and what they believe about Jesus is
-
that he is that promise So they were meant to
-
believe that Jesus is the Son of God Okay, he
-
is the anointed one. He is the one that has been
-
promised The one that has been sent into the
-
world. This was the only revelation of God's
-
word. You could understand right this It's what
-
they were meant to believe that Jesus is what
-
God says he is that he is a promised All right,
-
we'll see it even at the baptism. Okay, when
-
a voice was heard God trying to affirm that this
-
is the one All right, and even in his dealings
-
with the disciples will see that He God tried
-
to reveal Jesus as the promise who has been promised
-
in the in the by the prophets and the prophets
-
and the writings of Moses and the Psalms Hallelujah
-
So in John chapter 1 verse 12, he says he gave
-
the right to become the sons of God. During the
-
time of Jesus Christ, was any man a son of God?
-
Was any man the son of God? Why? Why was no one
-
a son of God? Somebody say is because it was
-
blasphemous. It's true. But the only way by which
-
a man can be a son of God, right, is by Jesus
-
dying. Okay, without him dying, nobody could
-
come into that, you know, with God. Are we together?
-
So it was until The redemption walk is complete.
-
No one could become the son of god But the john
-
chapter 1 verse 12 says as many as believe he
-
gave him the right to become the sons of god
-
Okay, so at that moment they believe him as what
-
as the messiah They believe him as one the god
-
have sent did they become the sons of god at
-
that moment? They believe him. No, it was not
-
possible All right. Jesus was the only begotten
-
son as of that moment in the redemption We became
-
what? We became sons of God. He no longer becomes
-
the only begotten. We became the sons of God
-
at the redemption after the redemptive work has
-
been completed. So in the Gospels, we can say,
-
we can say this, right? We can see by this evidence
-
we have that a ticket was given, okay? But no
-
one could become a son until the death and the
-
resurrection of Jesus Christ. A promise was given,
-
all right? But until the resurrection, no one
-
will enter into that reality. Are we together?
-
So the gospel in the in the gospels, the gospel
-
message in the gospels was not a complete message.
-
Do you agree? The gospel message in the gospels
-
in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, when we read
-
through Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, we see
-
the gospel not complete. All right. Because until
-
Jesus dies and rise again, no one could enter
-
the reality of all the things that God as promised
-
in Christ. So even if the gospel is preached
-
and many believe, they could not enter the reality
-
of what has been promised because Jesus has not
-
died, Jesus has not made it available as of that
-
moment. Are we together? So we are able to see
-
that the gospel preached even by Jesus Christ
-
could not make any man born again, all right?
-
Could not make any man Any time the reality of
-
those things away said were promised so we'll
-
see that even in that context this man They preach
-
the gospel they went out to preach in Luke chapter
-
9 verse 1 to 10 We'll see that Jesus Christ gave
-
them power and I went out alright and in that
-
in that with that understanding that they had
-
about who Jesus is With that I will say partial
-
revelation Okay, we pass that partial revelation.
-
We'll see that they went about exercising an
-
authority casting our devils Alright healing
-
the sick and they came back rejoicing even when
-
they have not received in what in totality They
-
promise the men of all who look through the book
-
of Hebrews the Bible will say that they did wonders
-
They they they were exceptional men. They did
-
mighty works. All right by believing the Word
-
of God What about us that have the reality in
-
dwelling in us? We have the fullness and the
-
complete package in his path the perfected work
-
of God in us. We are able to do Greater works
-
than even the work that they did because we have
-
the fullness of the promise of God in us The
-
work of God has been accomplished in us We are
-
the beneficiary of the perfection of God's work
-
So if they move a mile By virtue of our own ability
-
God working in us All right, we should even to
-
work more than what they did. Hallelujah. Now
-
the disciples I said this I think the first day
-
I started talking about this faith for greater
-
works. I say that the disciples could not believe
-
the resurrection. If we go through John chapter
John 20 chapter mention
-
20, let's look at John chapter 20, the story
John 20 chapter mention
-
of the resurrection. John chapter 20 from verse
John 20 chapter mention
-
one. Now we're trying to differentiate, okay,
-
how faith came in different dispensation. So
-
now we will now anchor on where we are right
-
now, how we receive faith and how we can go about
-
preaching the faith. Hallelujah. John chapter
John 20 chapter mention
-
20 from verse one. Now on the first day, of the
-
week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early while
-
it was still dark and saw that the stones had
-
been taken away from the tomb. Why did she go
-
to the tomb? Did she go to check whether Jesus
-
has rise again from the dead? They should go
-
to check. Ah, let me go and check what Jesus
-
said, whether it's true, whether he says after
-
three days I will rise again from the dead. What
-
took her to the grave is not faith. Are we together?
-
What took her to the grave to see verse two?
-
verse 2 then she ran and came to Simon Peter
-
and to the other disciples whom Jesus loved and
-
said to them they have taken away the Lord out
-
of the tomb and we do not know where they laid
-
him which means that she was expected to go and
-
find the dead body of Jesus in the tomb so her
-
report of the empty tomb is that someone have
-
taken him away away together look at Peter verse
-
3 and Peter therefore went out and the other
-
disciples were going to the tomb what were they
-
going to confirm what she said whether it is
-
true that Jesus has rose from the dead, whether
-
it is true that his body has been stolen, was
-
false. So they both ran together and the other
-
disciples outrun Peter. This is John writing
-
his own. He outrun Peter and came to the tomb
-
first and he is stooping down and looking and
-
saw the linen clothes lying there, yet he did
-
not go in. then Simon Peter came following him
-
and went into the tomb and he saw the linen clothes
-
lying there and the handkerchief that had been
-
around his head not lying with the linen clothes
-
but folded together in a place by itself then
-
the other disciples who came to the tomb first
-
that's John went it also and saw and he believed
-
what did he believe he believed that the body
-
of Jesus was stolen because actually was because
-
of what they heard from the the woman the Mary
-
right so they went to see whether it is true
-
so he now believed that the body was what was
-
stolen for as yet they did not know this knowing
-
is by revelation as yet they did not know the
-
scripture that he must rise again from the dead
-
have they been reading it was jesus telling them
-
that he will rise again from the dead has he
-
been teaching them from mal from genesis to madakai
-
that him will die he will suffer he will die
-
and then he will rise again so will this be that
-
they did not know that scripture that jesus will
-
rise again this knowledge is it just that they
-
do not know this knowledge is a revelational
-
knowledge hallelujah is a knowledge that comes
-
from the point of faith and i said this the last
-
time i said this can only happen by the spirit
-
of god this can only happen by the spirit of
-
god but mary stood outside by the tomb weeping
-
and was As she wept, she stopped down and looked
-
into the tomb and she saw two angels in white
-
sitting, one at the end at the head and the other
-
at the feet where the body of Jesus had lain.
-
Then they said to her, woman, why are you weeping?
-
And she said to them, because they have taken
-
away the Lord and I do not know where they had
-
laid him. Now, when she had said this, she turned
-
around and saw Jesus standing there. and did
-
not know it was Jesus. Jesus said to a woman,
-
why are you weeping? Who are you seeking? She
-
supposing to be the gardener, said to him, Sir,
-
if you have carried him away, tell me where you
-
had laid him and I will take him away. Jesus
-
said to her, Mary, she turned and said to him,
-
Rabboni, which is to say teacher. Jesus said
-
to her, do not cling to me for I have not yet
-
ascended to my father, but to my brethren. Go
-
to my brethren brother and say to them i'm ascending
-
to my father and your father And to my god and
-
your god mary magdalene came and told the disciples
-
That she had seen the lord and that he has spoken
-
these things to her hallelujah Now let's move
-
to verse 24 and see one superman verse 24 now
-
thomas Call the twin one over 12 was not with
-
them When Jesus came the order disciples therefore
-
said to him we have seen the Lord So he said
-
to them look at his reply to him unless I see
-
in his hands The print of the nails and put my
-
finger into the prints of the nails and put my
-
hand into his side I will not what I will not
-
believe and after eight days His disciples were
-
again inside and Thomas with them said that it
-
was with them Jesus came the door being shut
-
and stood in the midst and said peace to you
-
then he said to the Thomas reach your finger
-
here and look at my hands and reach your hands
-
here and put into my side do not be unbelieving
-
but what but be but be believing right and Thomas
-
answered and said to you my lord oh my god you
-
said to him Thomas because you have seen me You
-
have believed. All right Bless are those who
-
have not seen and yet have a belief Bless are
-
those who have not seen seen what the resurrection
-
right and had what and I believe now this I Said
-
the last time that this speaks of the church
-
era reality. All right this believing Right has
-
to do has to be by the Spirit of God You know
-
the reason why you are able to believe that Jesus
-
was from there is because of the Spirit of God
-
Present this facts to another person that is
-
all of the spirit. He will tell you you are funny
-
What you're saying is gibberish Because to him
-
is not given the ability to understand unless
-
he choose he unless he he he's presented the
-
gospel and then he what? He accepts it. Are we
-
together? So Thomas demonstrated unbelief in
-
the resurrection just as all the disciples and
-
the apostles because As of that moment, no one
-
was able to believe the resurrection because
-
the resurrection reality can only be believed
-
by the help of the Spirit of God. Hallelujah!
-
So the disciples on their way to Emmaus will
-
see in Luke 24 verse 26 to 35 will see them also,
-
you know, in their unbelief, speaking about all
-
the things that has happened, and they were terribly
-
in unbelief. They didn't believe the resurrection,
-
alright? They believed Jesus. They were disciples
-
of Jesus. They believed Him to be the Messiah,
-
but the resurrection was something else. So it
-
is not expected that they should believe in the
-
resurrection. It is not expected at that moment.
-
Because in fact they don't have the ability to
-
believe all right understanding the revelation
-
Concerning the resurrection can only be by the
-
spirit of God Can only be bought by what by the
-
spirit of God so by implication it takes feet
-
of God It takes the feet of God that which can
-
only be done by God through the spirit to believe
-
the gospel that we preach today Okay, that is
-
the implication. It means that it is only by
-
the spirit of God Okay, it is only by the work
-
of the spirit of God in the heart of a man to
-
believe the gospel that we preach today. So no
-
wonder Paul will say that when we came to you,
-
we didn't come by what? Lovely speech, not by
-
motivational speech, not by any form of wisdom
-
of men, or by what? By the demonstration. The
-
gospel is the demonstration of the Spirit of
-
God. It's only by the Spirit of God that men
-
can believe the gospel. So Jesus will say in
-
John chapter 16, verse 7 to 15, when we read
-
through, He will promise them of the Spirit,
-
right? The things I tell you, I go. It's better
-
for you that I go. because if I don't go the
-
spirit will not come but if I go the spirit will
-
come and he will tell you all things right he
-
will take the things I've been saying and what
-
he will do he will reveal them unto you all right
-
so we will see in the resurrection the work of
-
the spirit convicting men that's his work that
-
conviction is what what is that conviction giving
-
proofs all right of the resurrection In the spirit,
-
by the spirit we see the way by which a man believes.
-
The spirit is the one walking in the heart of
-
man to believe, giving the ability to believe.
-
Hallelujah! I wish I have time, I could have
-
gone further. But see, let me stop here. A man
-
that is dead cannot believe. A man that is dead
-
does not have the ability to believe. When you
-
go to preach and you tell a man that is dead
-
to believe, he does not have the ability to believe.
-
Alright? God will ask the prophet Ezekiel, can
-
these dry bones come to life? Can these dry bones
-
come to life by itself? said lord only you know
-
and then god said speak to the dry bones and
-
then he spoke to it and then he came to life
-
right until the world came there's no life all
-
right so then we'll ask them what should the
-
unbelief someone that have not had the ghost
-
what is his responsibility his responsibility
-
is to hear that is his responsibility because
-
faith comes by what it comes by hearing okay
-
it comes by hearing let me close with this let
-
me close with this romance of the 10 because
-
romance of the 10 verse 13 seems to say that
-
faith that faith come by confession Romans 10
-
Romans 10 yes that if you confess verse 9 if
-
you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and
-
believe in your heart that God has risen from
-
the dead you will be saved for with their heart
-
one believes unto righteousness and with a mouth
-
confession is made unto salvation for the scripture
-
says whoever believes on him will not be put
-
to shame for There is no distinction between
-
the jew and the greek for the same lord over
-
all is rich to all who call upon him verse 13
-
And verse 9 verse 13 numbers and look at them
-
clearly They seem to speak that what says for
-
whoever calls on the name of the lord shall be
-
safe And we think that by calling the name of
-
the lord then the man will be safe What does
-
it mean? Can a man call the name of the lord
-
and be safe? Look at the next verse how then
-
can Can they call on Him whom they have not believed?
-
How can they call on Him who have not believed?
-
Which means that for them to call, they must
-
believe, all right? You can't call on to someone
-
you've not believed, isn't it? So for them to
-
call on to someone, they must first of all believe.
-
How can they believe? Let's look at the next
-
verse. So how shall they believe in whom they
-
have not heard? So for them to believe, they
-
must hear, all right? They must hear. Okay, and
-
how shall they hear without a preacher and how
-
shall they preach unless they are sent as is
-
written How beautiful are the feet of those who
-
preach the gospel of peace who bring glad tidings
-
of good things? But they have not all obeyed
-
the gospel for isaiah says lord who has believed
-
our report verse 17 critically So then faith
-
comes by hearing and hearing by the word of god.
-
Hallelujah So a man received faith by hearing
-
You can't go to an unbeliever and tell him to
-
speak of something that he has not heard and
-
he has not accepted. Hallelujah. So to us, faith
-
comes by the word of God. Faith is founded and
-
faith is is within the boundary of the word of
-
God. Outside the word of God, there is no faith
-
of God. So when the word of God is spoken, a
-
man received the word and the spirit produces
-
faith in him and is able to believe Jesus is
-
able to believe God. so our responsibility is
-
to go and speak speak the word of God to preach
-
the word of God that they might hear the word
-
of God just want to just thank God for thus far
-
the understanding we've received in the world
-
that is all about God and what he has done in
-
us it is by his spirit that is quickening us
-
that's quickening us and is still strengthening
-
us we appreciate you being here today we hope
-
you cry this word with you throughout your week
