The Issues About Women’s Liberty: The Giving of the Law (Part 27)

right in. So we will continue with the giving

of the law. And what we are trying to do is that

one thing we have learned by God's grace is that

the teaching of God's words, the one that builds,

is not something done in a rush. We take time

to study God's word and that's why Paul told

Timothy, he said be diligent. Are we together?

Some version we say study to show that it's self

-approved. We said It's not to God to show yourself

approved of God. A workman that need not to be

ashamed is rightly dividing the word of truth.

That we are intentional, that we are focused,

that we are committed, that words are very important

because the revelation of Jesus, the revelation

of God was passed through words. So if we are

careful to read this word with diligence and

with faithfulness and with commitment, then that

means we are ready to know God. Hallelujah. So

what we started and what we are trying to do

in this part of the series, we're trying to do

some work around women's dressing. And as we

said, the fact that we just say women dressing

doesn't mean that it's just about dressing uh

that relates to women alone because we are one

in Christ so every part or anything that affects

one of us will affect all of us are we together

hallelujah so we started by asking or wanting

to study a text, Deuteronomy 22 verse 5, and

Deuteronomy 22:5

I don't want you to forget where we are coming

from and where we are going. We're trying to

understand why Moses gave this law, wrote this

law and gave it, that a woman shall not wear

anything that pertains to a man No shall a man

foot on a woman's garment, for all who do so

are an abomination to the Lord your God." I would

say the reason why we are taking this time is

because this text is one of the controversial

text style. The immediate issue of dressing comes

up people around to this place and begin to point

and of course with our regards to context with

our regards to when it was written to who was

written to and all that and we play but they

are the first part of it we try to understand

the background and We say this is just one of

the laws there are more than 600 laws giving

and Then we took time and say okay Why was the

law given first and foremost? Let's look at how

the law came And then we read the number of couple

of scriptures from Galatians 3. Stephen stated

some words in Acts chapter 7. We look at also

Acts 7 · chapter mention

the writer of Hebrews, Acts chapter 2. And then

Acts 2 · chapter mention

we now understand that the law was an addition.

That's one. And the law was an addition. It was

not part of the promise. In Genesis, there was

no law. Exodus, that was when it came. And we

study it. understand why it came because when

God was coming to Abraham and revealing to him

the promise revealing to him his plan for the

whole world are we together even though some

people say the plan is for Israel alone I don't

understand when he said in your seat shall the

whole family of the earth shall be what shall

be blessed how can you say for Israel again where

it's clear they say the whole family of the earth

are we together hallelujah So we now noted that

in that place and later on in fact Paul made

us to understand clearly that the law came 430

years after the promise that is after the promise

made to Abraham. Are we together? So and it noted

clearly that the reason why the law came was

because of what? Transgression. So that means

there would not have been need for the law in

the sun that is for the addition by extension

even the system are we together even the system

but that brought the law itself amen even the

system that brought the law itself there will

be need for it we now understand not just only

that the law was added the system that brought

it which Moses was a mediator was also an addition

because there's only one mediator between God

and man which is Christ Jesus are we together

yes but there's an addition that came because

of the transgression we noted that we saw in

exodus 20 verse 18 and 19 where the addition

came both the issue where the law began and that's

where the the system that brought it you understand

the mediation and so we noted that both the law

and the mediation of moses were were added and

they were added because of transgression because

of unbelief hallelujah so we also saw that that

the law that's where we are coming from And we

saw also that this law, when the mediator came,

he now employed some people. Will I say people?

Amen. He employed some beings. He said that the

law was appointed through angels. And that's

where we have been coming from. And we have noted

that this word appointed means to command, to

ordain, to give order or to give responsibility

to another person. And so we now saw that Moses

now gave responsibility. So Moses with the instrumentality

of angels brought the law. Hallelujah. And then

we took time to study about the activities of

angels and so on and so forth. And that's how

we are here where we are today. Amen. Are we

together? So the issue is that now today what

I want to do particularly today, let's see how

we can go, is on the issue what is the implication

of involving angels in giving of the law. What

is the implication of involving angels in the

giving of the law? 1 Peter chapter 1 verse 10.

1 Peter 1:10

James and in New King James version. Of this

salvation the prophets have inquired and search

carefully who prophesied of the grace that will

come to you is a searching what or what manner

of time the spirit of Christ who was in them

was indicating when he testified beforehand the

suffering of Christ and the glories that would

follow. 12 to them it was revealed that not to

themselves but to us the we are ministering the

things which now have been reported to you through

those who have preached the gospel to you by

the Holy Spirit sent from heaven things which

angels Desire to look into Desire to look into

now what I'm going to do is because this is talking

about salvation in the Sun he said was ten start

he said of this salvation So is is is talking

about salvation in the Sun prophet prophesied

it In the Sun the Apostles believers preached

it in the Sun and then the angels are we together?

desire to look into. So to understand, I just

divided this text into three and that's what

we'll just do. Let's try to study this text.

The first part is concerning, I call it the three

layered truths about salvation in the sun. First

we'll look at the prophets, which is a past,

then the apostles and believers, the present,

and then the angels, which I titled the observers.

Are we together? Amen. So let's start with the

prophets which is talking about when it was prophesied.

Look at verse 10. It says of this salvation the

prophets have inquired and searched carefully

who prophesied of the grace that will come to

you. The first thing you will note here is that

The prophet prophesied about the salvation. Are

we together? They prophesied about the salvation.

In fact, Peter called it also grace. Are we together?

He said who prophesied the grace that will come

to you? The grace that will come to you. Secondly,

you will observe here is that there is something

apart that the Prophet prophesied. They inquired

and searched carefully about what they prophesied.

Please note that. That they inquired. Did you

see that? He said, I've inquired and searched

carefully. So they searched, they inquired and

they searched carefully about what they prophesied.

So one thing we can see clearly here is that,

first, because before you prophesy something,

definitely the thing must have been revealed.

That's why if you look at verse 12, look at verse

12, he said to them it was revealed. So what

was prophesied was actually revealed. Are we

together? So what we're trying to say here is

that that means the prophets know some things

about salvation because it was revealed to them.

But again, they need not know some things because

if they are searching and carefully inquiring,

that means there are things they did not know.

Are we together? Because they were searching

and they were inquiring. Now the question we

will ask next is, what did they know and what

did they not know about this salvation they prophesied?

Are we together? Are you following me? Amen.

Now look at verse 11. Let's start with what did

they know? You understand because he said verse

12 told us that it was revealed to them You understand

and of course he prophesied. What did they know?

If you look at verse 11, he says searching What

or what manner of time? The spirit of Christ

which was in them was indicating when he testified

beforehand the suffering of Christ and the glories

that will follow. In fact verse 11 starts by

saying searching what or what manner of time.

So clearly there is telling us what they don't

know is the time. Are we together? The time.

The time of what? Look at the ending part because

what they prophesied is that what? He said testify

beforehand. That word testify is talking about

what they prophesied. testify beforehand mean

in the past before it happened he said what the

suffering of Christ and the glories that will

follow so the timing of when this will happen

when the suffering of Christ will happen and

the glories that will follow is what they don't

know and that's why they were searching understand

because you know one of the texts if you are

in this church definitely supposed to have known

this text by now right Luke 24 verse 25 26 and

Luke 24:25

27 oh foolish ones low of heart right to believe

in all that the Prophet have done what spoken

all the Prophet have what spoken what did they

speak verse 25 ought not Christ to have suffered

these things and to enter into his glory. That's

exactly what Peter is saying also here. So that's

what they have spoken in a song. Ought not Christ.

So they know that they have a knowing of the

coming Messianic figure. They have a knowing

of that. They have a knowing that He will suffer.

Are we together? They also have a knowing that

afterward, after the suffering, glory in the

sun, he will be glorified. He will be glorified.

In fact, Isaiah 53 particularly speaks of his

sufferings. Are we together? And we also studied,

particularly for some of us who are in the training

center in the sun, his glory, which we studied

in Psalms 110. Are we together? Hallelujah. Again,

we also studied the book of, not the one yet

we did in the self -fellowship. We also did an

extended one in the training center, which we

talk about His glorification. Because you will

see they are the same. When you read Psalms 110,

it speaks about Him exalted, seated at the right

hand of the Father. that's what talking about

his exaltation is the same thing also you will

hear talking about that he is a priest forever

are we together amen he's talking about his exaltation

or his glorification amen so what we're trying

to say is that this the prophet know they know

it amen okay what did they not know as we have

noted what they didn't know is a time the time

of the fulfillment so just follow me so look

at verse 11 again we said you were searching

what or what manner of time not that phrase verse

11 what or what manner of time so I want to just

Zoom or just to do something here quickly about

the issue of the time And the first thing let

me just dismantle some few things here that we

might understand First we have the words what

or and what manner of time Or what manner are

we together? so the word or Or was translated

from the Greek word A, that is just E, letter

E. A, which is a primary article of distinction

between two connected terms. It's a primary article

of distinction between two terms. Of course,

you can have others. A can be or, can also be

either. You understand? You can also use done,

depending on the context. But here he uses or.

So he's connecting two terms. The question is,

what are the terms he's connecting? Of course,

he say what. Or what manner. Are we together?

So the first word is what. That word what was

translated from the Greek word tis. that is t

-i -s tis it is an interrogative pronoun is an

interrogative pronoun then the next word that

all connect is what manner that word what manner

is together is one word in greek you understand

what manner was also translated from the greek

word which is P -O -I -O -S. P -O -I -O -S. Interestingly,

this word is also an interrogative pronoun. So

you have two interrogative pronouns actually

connected by a particle, which is O. Now, I want

you to note that Both the word these and prayers

are tie by time. Do you understand what I'm saying?

That's why he said what or what manner of time.

So they are tie by time. That is, both are inquiring

about time. That's what I'm trying to say. So

both the interrogative pronouns are actually

asking about what? Time. Yeah accent about time

So we if we like we can state it this way That's

what time or what manner of time did you get

that? Amen So we can also put it that way in

the sound what time or what manner of time Now

what is the difference between the two because

both of them are interrogative pronouns. What's

the difference? And are they saying something

very critical? Yes. The difference between the

Tis and Poyos is that Tis acts a general identification.

Tis acts, you see, we said it's an interrogative

pronoun. acts of a general identification. For

example, what time? Are we together? What time?

Or you can even say which time. It's all general.

It's all specific. In contrast, peos acts for

specific. Identification. Individualizing identification.

Specific. So it's concerned about a kind. It's

concerned about the quality. Are we together?

It's concerned about the nature. What is the

character of the time? What are the circumstances

of the time? Are we together? The first one is

all general what time that is talking about chronology

in 1948 or 19 this thing or so social time that's

just general But that one is asking more closely.

There are some attribute character You know son

the kind of the time in the sun What will usher

eats did you understand trying to say there are

the qualities? so both of them are important

one is talking about the chronological identification.

The other one is talking about more or less the

the kind of the time. And we have noted that

it's talking about the time, that time also means

season in a sense. It's talking about the time

of the suffering of Christ and the glory that

shall follow so what the prophet did not know

was the historical timing of the manifestation

of the grace the prophesied is the timing that's

what they didn't know and that was why they were

searching pittanum dollars they were searching

you say searching what or what manner of time

or kind of time hallelujah okay let's do more

because in our set the next I want you to know

that this statement the spirit of Christ who

was in them was indicating when he testified

beforehand the suffering of Christ and the glories

that will follow Now there are some terms here

that we need to look at it closely to align it

much better. And the first one if you look at

it is, it said the Spirit of Christ, I want you

to know the word was in, first and foremost.

The phrase, two words, right? Was in. Then the

next word is was indicating. Then the next term

is when he testified beforehand. Again, did you

see the grouping? The first one is was in. The

second one is was indicating. The third one is

when he testified beforehand. Yes, three. Let's

look at the first one. The first one is one word

in Greek. N is a preposition. That is E -N in

Greek. E -N. So the word was in was translated

from one word, which is N. E -N in Greek. It's

a preposition. And that word, depending on the

context, can be in. can be by, can be with, through,

it is see. You understand? It is see. In, by,

with, through, depending on the context. Just

take a note. The second one, which was indicating,

is also one word in Greek. The word Are we together?

Amen. Are you following me? Good. So, it's a

verb. It actually means to make plain. That is

to make it plain by words. By words. to make

plain, or to declare, to show, to signify. These

are all terms where you can, to declare, to show,

to signify, or to, what I say, to make plain,

make plain by words, of course. Then the third

one I was mentioning, which is when he testified

beforehand. Again, this phrase is one word also

in Greek, is pro maturomai, that is p -r -o,

p -r -o, m -a -r, t -y, R -O -M -A -I P -R -O

-M -A -R -T -Y R -O -M -A -I It's a vector. It

means to predict. To make known. Or, you can

use the word to testify, which was used by the

author here, he said to testify. You understand?

Remember, it's one word. So you see, that word,

when he testified, it's one word. You understand?

Because once you said he, already you confuse,

sometimes it's very difficult to understand why

is that, because it's just only one word. Anyway,

amen, hallelujah. Are we together? Now if you

put this together, let me return back, why we

are doing this. You see, the first thing is that

when you read this, you understand, and said

the spirit of Christ who was in them, we know

that this contradicts the revelations of the

word because the spirit of God or the spirit

of Christ did not live in anyone. until after

resurrection. Are we together? Amen, are we together?

Now the second thing that is critical, you understand,

is that if you look at it, it will look as if

it is a spirit that was indicating in the song.

It will look as if it's a spirit when we use

in, it suggests it was a spirit in them that

was searching and indicating because if you read

it it says searching what or what manner of time

the spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating.

That was why you see the translators use the

word he. and if you look at if you if you have

like my bible the new king uh king james you

see they capitalize it still trying to say it

is the spirit of christ that actually was testifying

beforehand so if you look somehow yes we know

the spirit moved them which is true you understand

but it is them that testify moved by the spirit

do you understand what i'm trying to say it's

not that the spirit in them is the one doing

you know you know as we told you this is a difference

but because he was teaching us this is a difference

between demon spirits and the holy spirit do

you understand saying once the demon spirit possess

a man you understand they hijack the entire focality

that when jesus was asking the man you know sound

who are you and he was just trying to ask him

the demon hijack his focality and just say we

are many did you understand trying to say are

we together so no that's not how the Holy Spirit

and we know as we said that the Holy Spirit was

not in them you understand so that's why we are

doing this now if we look at all of these the

first one instead of in and we said that what

was in was one word we can better put the word

true there it could help us to bring out the

meaning. Now let's read it with the truth. He

said the spirit of Christ who threw them. Did

you hear that? Are we together? Who threw them?

Okay, let's go to the next one which is what's

indicating in the sun. We said it's one word

so we can just put show or signified you understand

like you will see the spirits of Christ who through

them signify or we can use show are we together

hmm then we have the other one which says when

he testified beforehand because it's one word

so we don't need that when he because we know

now that it is them that are testifying so we

will just use the word testified beforehand because

that's what it means you understand so we can

now said that the spirit of Christ who through

them signify and testify beforehand the suffering

of Christ and the glories that will follow. Is

that okay? Does this sound smooth now? So we

now know it is first and foremost we acknowledge

that what they prophesied was sourced. You understand?

The Holy Spirit was the source. Are we together?

But again, what we did now also acknowledge that

they are the one that did what? that testify

they are the one that's we're searching are we

together so let's read verse 11 again in this

light searching what or what manner of time the

spirit of christ who through them signified and

testified beforehand the suffering of christ

and the glories that will follow. Hallelujah.

Are we together? Glory to Jesus. Matthew 13.

So let me show you also other things because

it's not just only this. That's um I'm Matthew

13 look at verse 17 sorry verse 17 Matthew 13

Matthew 13:17

verse 17 for assuredly I say to you that many

prophets and righteous men desire to see what

you see did not see it and to hear what you hear

and did not hear it. Remember many prophets.

In fact we can find that also in Luke chapter

Luke 10:24

10 verse 24. Luke chapter 10 verse 24. So besides

Luke 10:24

searching about the timing of the manifestation

of the grace that is to come, the prophet also

longed to witness the fulfillment of what they

prophesied. He said many prophets, he said they

have desire to see and to hear what you have

heard. What Jesus is saying is the witnessing.

You understand? Because Jesus was already the

incarnate Christ. God become flesh. He said they

have longed to see and to hear what you already

are. Are we together? However we saw that they

did not witness. experience what they prophesied.

If you look at Hebrews chapter 11 verse 39, let

Hebrews 11:39

me show you why they did not experience it in

their time, even though they desired it. The

Bible says that and all these having obtained

a good testimony through faith did not receive

the promise God having provided something better

for us that they should not be made perfect apart

from us the reason is because God reserved it

for a future time so it is by design are we together

God desire it that way. That it will be of a

future time, not during their time when they

prophesied it. So the prophets stood at the level

of anticipation. They saw ahead. Remember, that

saw ahead is different from this one that Jesus

said, they desire to see and to hear. This one

is the witness, the fulfillment. That other one

was what they saw and prophesied. Do you understand

what I'm trying to say? Remember we said it was

revealed to them. Amen? So they saw it from a

distance. And that's what exactly, come back

to that Hebrews 11 verse 13. Look at verse 13.

Hebrews 11:13

Hebrews 11 verse 13. He said, this all died in

Hebrews 11:13

faith, not having received the promise, but having

seen them. are far off, were assured of them,

embraced and confessed that they were strangers

and pilgrims on earth. Acts chapter 2 verse 30.

Acts 2:30

Acts chapter 2 verse 30. Therefore, being a prophet,

Acts 2:30

and knowing that god has sworn with an oath to

him that of the fruit of his body according to

the flesh he will raise up the christ to sit

on his throne this is his glorification remember

what we said ought not christ to have suffered

this is and to enter into his glory was that

one he say he foreseeing this spoke concerning

the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was

not left in Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.

Hallelujah. John chapter 8 verse 56 John chapter

John 8:56 John 8:56

8 verse 56 Your father Abraham Rejoice to see

my day and he saw it and was glad Are we together

He desired remember always say they desire. Are

we together? Yes, it was revealed to them The

heart long that was what they were searching

the time But we now saw that they saw it from

afar. They believe it. They continue. Hallelujah.

So this is what the prophet did not know. That

was why when you read there, they were searching.

They are not searching about who the figure Christ

is, you understand? And then the suffering. They

believed it. That's why they are believers. You

understand? That's why they are believers. When

the Bible said, the many prophets are righteous

you should know that he's not talking about righteousness

by walks he's talking about righteousness by

feats understand hallelujah now number two is

the apostles and believers that's the second

part let's go back to our text first spitta chapter

one the second one is the second layer about

truth is apostles and believers look at verse

12 he said to them it was revealed but to us

revealed that not to themselves but to us they

were ministering the things which now have been

reported listen when you hear they said to them

it was revealed that not to themselves But to

us, this is just aligning with what we have discussed

that it's God's design that they will not be

made perfected in the sun without us. Do you

understand what I'm trying to say? Yes. So he

said, but to us they were ministering the things

which now, not that word, which now have been

reported to you, including us now. Do you understand

what I'm saying? Including us. Reported to you

is it through those who have preached the gospel

to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. So

that what those who have preached the gospel

to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It's

talking about the apostles because Peter that's

what Peter was talking about. And of course,

by extension, the believers there, and as we

said today also, you understand what I'm saying?

That's why we send people to go and preach the

gospel. You understand? What we are trying to

say is that, that thing that the prophet prophesied,

now we are not just only, because that's why

he said, by the spirit, look at it, the spirit

sent from heaven, not the spirit that will be

sent. He said the spirit sent, so they are in

the days of the spirit. Did you understand what

I'm saying? He has already been sent. You understand?

He has already been sent. So this is talking

about the apostolic witness, those who have witnessed,

including the disciples that Jesus was talking

about earlier on. This is exactly what he was

saying. In fact, if you read verse 16, verse

16 was saying, blessed are your eyes for they

see and your ears for they hear. So the experience

So we're talking about those first and foremost

that are living in the time of the fulfillment

of what the prophet have spoken So they saw or

they have seen what the prophet anticipated They

are also proclaiming it Proclaiming what has

been revealed remember they are partakers of

that salvation remember we're talking about the

salvation that word of the things is talking

about the things concerning Christ the salvation

so the Apostles and the believers are standing

in the fulfillment and the participation they

experience what others like the prophets only

foresaw Are we together? That's the second one.

The third is the angels. That's where we are

going. Are we together? Amen. Look at verse 12

also. I want you to note that place. Things which

the angels desire to look into. Things which

the angels desire to look into we have noted

what are those things that's why he said to them

was revealed that not to themselves but to us

we are ministering the things which have now

been reported to you through those who have preached

so he's talking about the salvation the gospel

you understand the gospel the things concerning

Christ the suffering of Christ and the glories

that will follow these things they have been

reported they are the one being proclaimed by

the Apostles and they believe as true preaching

there is a word here we need to what does that

mean? that word look into because it says things

that is the things concerning Christ which angels

desire to look into now when you look at this

text it will appear wait a minute okay the prophet

we are also searching it appears that the angels

were also searching but the question is that

the searching are not the same sir we have already

noted that what were the prophets searching the

time okay let's look at it what were the angels

searching, already looking. Are we together?

Amen. Now that word look into is one word in

Greek. It's a word parakoupto. P -A -R -A -K

-Y P -T -O P -A -R -A -K -Y PTO. It's a verb.

The word is used in the Bible both literally

and metaphorically. Let's look at how the Bible

used that literally. Luke 24 verse 12. Luke 24

Luke 24:12 Luke 24:12

verse 12. He said, but Peter arose and ran to

the tomb and stooped down. That what stooped

down. He saw the leaning cloots lying by themselves.

and he departed marveling to himself at what

had happened. So that word stup down is a word

parakuptu. John chapter 20, John 20 verse 5,

John 20 · chapter mention John 20:5

John 20 verse 5. He said, and he stooped down

John 20:5

and looked in, saw the linen cloth lying there,

yet he did not go in. Verse 11. But Mary stood

outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept,

she stooped down and looked into the tomb. So

that stoop is to look at, with your head bow

forward, and your body bent something like this

you just do like this you're stupid very keen

to see this is literal let's look at James James

talks about it figuratively or metaphorically

James chapter one James one verse Look at 25.

James 1, 25. He said, but he who looks, that

what looks, into the perfect law of liberty and

continue in it, and is not a forgetful hearer,

but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed

in all he does. So this is talking about metaphorically

here, that is to look carefully into, to inspect

curiously or inquisitively a strong eagerness

to learn. Did you understand what Brandy said?

That's what it means here, paracupto. So that's

what Peter meant. when he said let's go back

there if you look at contextually definitely

he's not talking about you know except you you

think that heaven is one place somewhere else

maybe the angels were there in heaven and they

are looking down to to you on there do you know

what I'm trying to say maybe they are somewhere

of one location somewhere at the top hallelujah

amen But that's not what he's talking about.

It's not something literal there. He's talking

about figuratively. So because it's figuratively,

definitely it means the angels were inspecting

curiously with the intent of learning. They were

inquisitive. They were eager to learn. What is

this? with keen attention Anybody that is doing

this is a person who has no knowledge of what

is happening So unlike the prophets the angels

do not understand the message of mercy They don't

understand Listen, how were they actually curiously

learning is they are watching the display of

the church. Let me read it again for you because

I wanted to pay attention because it is a church

when they came the church was explaining what

the prophets have written did you understand

what I'm trying to say? look at it verse 12 it

said to them was revealed that's to the prophet

that not to themselves but to us that we are

ministering the things which now now now have

been reported to you Do you see the point? That

means there is a preaching going on. Do you understand

what I'm trying to say? Preach the gospel to

you by the spirit. There's a demonstration. That's

why Paul said, when I come to you, I did not

come to you in the eloquency of what? He said

by the demonstration. Do you understand what

I'm trying to say? So when he said by the power

or by the spirit, that's what he's trying to

say. So by the spirit, or the Holy Spirit sent

from heaven he said the things that is the things

being preached the things being reported the

things being communicated and displayed by those

who preach the word by the apostles by the believers

you understand that's why he said the things

which angels desire to look that is they were

looking curiously wait a minute what is happening

ah is that what has been going on oh Ah, that

is what to mean by parakupto. Parakupto. What

this shows that the angels have limited knowledge

of salvation. Did you hear what I said? Remember
