  1. Welcome to NECF sermons. Each message here is

  2. designed to uplift and strengthen you in your

  3. walk with God. Don't miss out. Stay with us until

  4. the end for a rewarding experience. Let's dive

  5. right in. Chapter three. Excuse me. Let me start

  6. reading from verse one. He made known to me the

  7. mysteries, as I have briefly written already,

  8. by which when you read, you may understand my

  9. knowledge in the mysteries of Christ, which in

  10. other ages was not made known to the sons of

  11. men, as it has now been revealed by the spirit

  12. of his holy apostles and prophets, that the Gentiles

  13. should the fellow heirs of the same body and

  14. partakers of his promise in Christ through the

  15. gospel of which I became a minister according

  16. to the gift of the grace of God given to me by

  17. the effective working of his power to me who

  18. I am less than the least of all the saints his

  19. grace was given, that I should preach among the

  20. Gentiles the unsachable riches of Christ, and

  21. to make all men see what is a fellowship of the

  22. mysteries which, from the beginning of the ages,

  23. has been hidden in God who created all things.

  24. through Jesus Christ, but stand to the intent

  25. that now the manifold wisdom of God might be

  26. made known by the Church to principalities and

  27. powers in heavenly places. According to the eternal

  28. purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus,

  29. our Lord, whom we have boldness and access with

  30. confidence through faith, Now on Sunday, we continue

  31. with our teaching and particularly we try to

  32. address the implications of involving angels

  33. in the giving of the law. And today we will continue

  34. again to highlight some few things in that regards.

  35. Now, There is a misreading of this text that

  36. I want to clarify briefly before we continue.

  37. Now many people, when they read particularly

  38. verse 10, the intent that now the manifold wisdom

  39. of God might be made known by the Church to principalities

  40. and powers in the heavenly places. Many people

  41. think that the intent is that the church should

  42. show the devil and demons his power. To show

  43. the power of God to these demons. They need to

  44. know that God is powerful. And why do most people

  45. read it like that? Or let me say many. It's not

  46. actually most. Or some people. Why do some people

  47. think that this is what the text is saying? actually

  48. is because of that word principalities and powers.

  49. The principalities and powers. So they interpret

  50. that word in the context of Ephesians chapter

  51. six verse 12. Look at Ephesians chapter six verse

  52. 12. So each time they read that word, the first

  53. thing that normally we are acquainted with is

  54. Ephesians six verse 12. But we do not wrestle

  55. against flesh and blood, but again, principalities,

  56. against powers, against rulers of darkness of

  57. this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness

  58. in the heavenly places, or heavenly. Actually,

  59. that place is, if you see in the New King James,

  60. or if you have King James, you always put in

  61. italics. Actually, we have thoughts. There is

  62. no place there. It's in the heavilys, heavily.

  63. Amen. So the places was introduced by the publishers

  64. of the English version. So that's why when people

  65. read the principalities and powers, for example,

  66. in Ephesians 3, They read it in the context of

  67. also Ephesians 6. If you look at Ephesians, it

  68. clearly tells us the principalities and powers

  69. there. Right? Yes. It says, again, it's the rulers

  70. of darkness. So it's talking about rulers of

  71. darkness. It said, again, spiritual host of wickedness.

  72. So that's just a description of the same beings.

  73. Amen. Now, yes, while in this context, that is

  74. the Ephesians 6 verse 12, identify principalities

    Ephesians 6:12

  75. and powers as rulers of darkness, as spiritual

  76. host of wickedness, the term, or those terms,

  77. the principalities and powers is not exclusively

  78. used as evil spirit all the time. That term ought

  79. to be defined based according to the context.

  80. Like we see in Ephesians 6, it's clear there

  81. that it's talking about wicked spirits. Are we

  82. together? Amen. Now let's look at collusions.

  83. Look at collusions. I'm trying to say that that

  84. term or those terms cannot be just be used with

  85. a blanket meaning. You can't use them just as

  86. anywhere we see them, they mean wicked beings

  87. or wicked spirit beings. Colossians chapter one,

  88. look at verse 16. Verse 16, he said, for by him

  89. all things were created that are in heaven and

  90. that are on earth, visible and invisible. whether

  91. thrones or dominions did you see that again all

  92. principalities or what or powers all things we

  93. are created through him and for him amen are

  94. we together now if we will consider principalities

  95. and powers that they always means wicked evil

  96. spirits in the sun So we read it here also as

  97. that that means I will be a problem because I

  98. will mean Because he said by 16 for by him talking

  99. about Christ all things We are created and he

  100. mentioned those things and then includes principalities

  101. and powers that means we will see evil Came from

  102. God or evil came from Christ But no context defines

  103. what principalities and powers are. That means

  104. to say, it's a term that could mean what we see,

  105. we saw in Ephesians chapter six verse 12, it

  106. mean wickedness or wicked spirits. We said, or

  107. it could mean also here, definitely mean spirit

  108. beings that are not evil. Amen. Are we together?

  109. Because God created everything perfect and good.

  110. Hallelujah. So if this text is talking about

  111. by Him, all things were created, it wouldn't

  112. be mean, it, it, principality and past here would

  113. not mean evil. Amen. Are we together? Hallelujah.

  114. Of course, we saw John talks about many places,

  115. I mean, in this Scripture that talks about the

  116. character of God, what actually came from God,

  117. who is God. John, in verse John talks about,

  118. in him there is no darkness at all. In him there

  119. is no darkness at all. So the word principality

  120. is a -k in Greek, a -r -c -h -e. And powers means

  121. exusia. E -X -O -U -S -I -A. E -X -O -U -S -I

  122. -A. It means powers. So ake and exusia, or principalities

  123. and powers. They are actually a general term

  124. for spirit beings. In fact, in some places, they

  125. are used as human authorities. They are used

  126. as human authorities. As I said, it is a context

  127. that should tell us what that means. Let's read

  128. more text for us to see that. Again, let's look

  129. at Colossians. Colossians 2 verse 10. Colossians

    Colossians 2:10 Colossians 2:10

  130. 2 verse 10. He says, and you are complete in

  131. him who is the head of all principalities and

  132. powers. Look at verse 15. Having this arm, principalities

  133. and powers. Definitely these principalities here.

  134. So you can see in Colossians alone have different

  135. places where it talks about principality. We

  136. read in Colossians 1 .16, talks about principality

  137. and power. Now that means if you read verse 15

  138. for example, these principalities and power here

  139. wouldn't mean the principalities and power in

  140. Ephesians 1 .16. You understand what I'm saying?

  141. Because the one God or true Christ were created.

  142. Are we together? We don't mean the one again

  143. is disarming. Amen. Disarming principalities

  144. and powers. Amen. Titus chapter three. Titus

  145. chapter three verse one. Just to just give us

  146. some thoughts there to think about or some things

  147. to think about. remind them to be subject to

  148. who? Rulers and what? Authorities to obey, to

  149. be ready for every good work. That word rulers

  150. and authorities. Rulers means principalities.

  151. It's the same word there, akehe. Or authorities

  152. means powers, means exusia. Amen. Luke chapter

    Luke 20 chapter mention

  153. 20. So this one, if you look at here, is talking

  154. about human authorities. Amen. He's talking about

  155. human authorities. Luke 20. Luke 20 verse 19.

    Luke 20:19

  156. And the chief priests and the scribes and the

  157. very hour sought to lay hands on him but they

  158. feared the people for they knew he has spoken

  159. this parable against them. So they watched him,

  160. verse 20, and sent spies who pretended to be

  161. righteous, that they might cease on his words,

  162. in order to deliver him to the power and authority

  163. of the governor, that what power is principalities

  164. and that word authority is power, that's exusia,

  165. amen. So sometimes you can see how English can

  166. be using the same word, can be using principalities

  167. in place of power or power in place of principalities

  168. or we can use authority. But we are looking at

  169. it from the Greek meaning, amen. So what we're

  170. trying to say is that If you see the principalities

  171. and powers, we need to look at closely what that

  172. text is saying. The context will tell us whether

  173. it's talking about evil spirits or whether the

  174. angels of God or human authorities. Hallelujah.

  175. So let's return back to our text, Ephesians 3

    Ephesians 3:10

  176. verse 10. So when we read it, we have read it

  177. already, we will notice that this text is not

  178. saying or does not present a church showing power

  179. to demons, but as a means Through which the manifold

  180. wisdom of God He said previously hidden and that's

  181. why when you read verse 9 and to make all men

  182. see What is a fellowship of the mystery? Which

  183. from the beginning of the age has been hid in

  184. God in fact That same thought was communicated

  185. in earlier verses. We look at verse 5. He said

  186. which in other ages was what was not made known

  187. to the sons of men as it has now been revealed

  188. by the spirit to his holy apostles and prophets

  189. so he sent it thought he was making in verse

  190. 9 healing in god who created all things through

  191. christ jesus to the intent so he's talking about

  192. the mysteries revealed to the intent That noun

  193. the manifold wisdom of God. So the wisdom of

  194. what definitely will must be related to the revelation

  195. Are we together? Might be made known by the church

  196. the principalities and powers so God is not God's

  197. power is not for sure there's no text of the

  198. Bible that call the believer to come for displaying

  199. power in the sun. He's not looking for ways to

  200. be famous, if you understand. God is not looking

  201. for ways to be famous. The Church is not established

  202. simply uh for just to just be showing power power

  203. power i will show you you know these days anyway

  204. i don't know in other countries but i know in

  205. my country nigeria yes sir if you want to see

  206. drama just go on the road yes sir do you know

  207. who i am you are a goat you are a this you know

  208. sir your people driving especially the the i

  209. don't know it's about the the city i stay is

  210. in kaduna hey those boys are driving a bus I

  211. know legos will be more. Amen. So very rough

  212. driving and you see everybody abusing is here.

  213. I will lock you up. You will know who I am. So

  214. the point is that that's not why the church was

  215. actually established. To go around just showing

  216. the power, showing who you are and all that.

  217. Amen. In fact, the truth of the matter is that

  218. you don't need to show someone the power that

  219. he has already known. Do you understand what

  220. I'm trying to say? You know, some of us are lecturers.

  221. When I enter the class, I don't need to tell

  222. them that I'm their teacher now. They know, right?

  223. Yes. And the problem comes when the teacher has

  224. inferiority complex or he doesn't know the subject.

  225. So sometimes you have to use other methods in

  226. the sand to make the students to be subdued in

  227. the sand. But if you are already the authority

  228. and you are working in your authority, you don't

  229. need any statement again. All the people around

  230. you know you. Are we together? And that's exactly,

  231. and you see what Christ have, I mean what Christ

  232. brought us into, you understand? Whether you

  233. recognize it or not, the devil and his demons

  234. know you. Do you understand what I'm saying?

  235. You don't need to show them something before

  236. they know you have power. Whether you are using

  237. it or not, using it. Are we together? Amen. Remember

  238. in Act 19, verse 15, the evil spirit met some

  239. guys. They thought that he was just calling the

  240. name. Those guys were exorcists. And part of

  241. them were the children of one chief priest, they

  242. called Sons of Skiba. And then they came, they

  243. said, we command you to go out in the name of

  244. the Lord who Paul preached. You are not in the

  245. system and you want to use the name and do something.

  246. Are we together? You know what the spirit told

  247. them? The evil spirit said, Jesus, I what? I

  248. know. Paul, I know. Who are you? That means your

  249. identity is unknown. You understand? You can't

  250. just use a tag. You understand? That means evil

  251. spirits, they know you. They know your position.

  252. Are we together? Now I want to note that, remember

  253. we are talking about knowledge. So I'm very careful

  254. with the statement we are making in the sun.

  255. This knowledge of the evil spirit, we are not

  256. talking about revelation and knowledge here.

  257. Are we together? Because we describe in, we interpreted

  258. on Sunday in the sun what actually the difference

  259. between the searching of the prophets and the

  260. searching in the sun or the looking of the angels

  261. amen so this knowing is not a volitional knowledge

  262. and you know again so there is a knowing that

  263. i'm talking about the knowing is that knowing

  264. that james was talking about is that are we together

  265. uh james james is it james yes james two was

  266. 19 Look at James 2 .19. He says, you believe

  267. that there is what? One God. You do well. Even

  268. the demons do what? Believe and they do what?

  269. This is a threat. You get what I'm trying to

  270. say? Yes, this is not revelation. It's recognizing.

  271. Of course, this belief is not saving faith that

  272. you believe to be saved. That means they recognize

  273. and they tremble. So James was trying to communicate

  274. in that line too. So what I'm trying to say is

  275. that you don't need to go around trying to show,

  276. I will show them. And one of the temptations

  277. to be in, you understand, is to try to display

  278. for the, I mean, displaying sick. Do you understand

  279. what I'm trying to say? Don't fall into that

  280. error because you're not called into that ministry.

  281. You're called a serious ministry, the ministry

  282. of enlightening men, the ministry of saving lives.

  283. So don't use it for show again, you understand?

  284. This is why I... I dislike it with the whole

  285. of my heart when I see the Bible and the Word

  286. of God used as a tool of comedy. It pains me

  287. so much because all scriptures are given by the

  288. inspiration of God and they are profitable not

  289. for comedy, they are profitable for teaching,

  290. for doctrine, they are profitable for reproof,

  291. they are profitable for correction. you are profitable

  292. for training or instruction in righteousness

  293. you understand and the essence is not that the

  294. man of god may be entertained that the man of

  295. god may be thoroughly furnished he said may be

  296. perfect thoroughly furnished onto good work that's

  297. the essence It's not for the Bible to be used

  298. to entertain the man of God. No the man of God

  299. the intent of Why the word was given is that

  300. the man of God may be perfect totally furnished

  301. That what perfect means equips in a son onto

  302. good works so We must never fall into that Temptation

  303. to use sacred things for common Amen. Are we

  304. together? So we are called to cast out. You don't

  305. need to start discussing. Who are you? Where

  306. are you coming from? How many are you in the

  307. sun? Did you know them before in their clan?

  308. I mean that's not the point. These sons shall

  309. follow them that believe. In my name they shall

  310. cast out, not discuss with them. Are we together?

  311. Cast out demons. So that is what we're supposed

  312. to do. Hallelujah. Amen. Are we together? So

  313. they know that Christ has disarmed, we read in

  314. Colossians 2, he says he has disarmed principalities.

  315. They have been disarmed. Are we together? That's

  316. Colossians 2 .15. He says he has disarmed them.

  317. Hmm Hebrews 2 14 and 15 tells us you understand

  318. that through the death of Jesus Christ what happened?

  319. He said he has destroyed him who had the power

  320. of death He now identify him. He said that is

  321. the devil You know son I release the essence

  322. is that he release or set free those who through

  323. the fear of death in the sun have been all their

  324. lives kept under bondage. No more fear. Are we

  325. together? Are we together? No more fear. Amen.

  326. Go back to that, uh, Ephesians chapter three

  327. verse 10. So, God's intention was to show, was

  328. to make known the manifold wisdom of God by the

  329. church to the principalities. Now, what is this

  330. wisdom of God? Which I have already noted that

  331. is in relation to uh the revelation which was

  332. it in the past or which was not known before

  333. in fact verse five says which in other ages was

  334. not made known to the sons of men as it has been

  335. revealed by what the spirit to his holy apostles

  336. and prophets this is exactly what jesus in John

  337. 16 said you understand I have many things to

  338. tell you but you cannot do what you can't bear

  339. it now he said but how be it when the spirit

  340. of truth is calm you understand so that means

  341. there are many things and that's what Paul is

  342. saying before it has not been made known to the

  343. sons of men not because God does not want to

  344. but the sons of men have no capacity to receive

  345. it Did you get what I'm trying to say? You know

  346. sometimes when you read it, it will look as if

  347. God deliberately hid it. No. Men have no capacity.

  348. It is the Holy Spirit that unlocks the capacity.

  349. Are we together? And that's why now has been

  350. made known or it has been revealed. It has been

  351. revealed. It has been revealed. So verse eight

  352. of chapter five, chapter three says, to me, look

  353. at, look at, he said, to me, to me, whom I'm

  354. less than the least of all the saints, he said,

  355. this grace was given, that I should preach among

  356. the Gentiles the unsachable riches of Christ,

  357. and to make known all, to make, all see what

  358. is a fellowship of the mistress which from the

  359. beginning of ages has been hid in God who created

  360. all things through Jesus Christ to the intent

  361. to the intent that now the money for wisdom so

  362. what he's trying to say is that to the intent

  363. that now are we together What is revealed now?

  364. It is the wisdom of God. That the wisdom now

  365. revealed means the revelation of God. The revelation

  366. of God. So, this ministry is that of revealing

  367. God's plan. that of revealing God's plan and

  368. I want you to note it earlier on he started it

  369. looks as if Paul is just talking about himself

  370. he said to me was it whom I'm less than the least

  371. of all the send this grace was giving but by

  372. the time you move on he reaches 10 he said to

  373. the intent now that a manifold wisdom of God

  374. might be made known by the church So that means

  375. this ministry is not just only for Paul this

  376. ministry is for the entire church Are we together

  377. is for the entire church? The ministry involves

  378. enlightening Not just men But listen, I want

  379. to be very careful here now when we are talking

  380. about the enlightenment of angels, we're not

  381. talking about us now you say you now enter our

  382. room and say angels angels come here all of you

  383. today we are having our class no that's not what

  384. the bible is saying in the sun he's not talking

  385. about directly no no no you understand he say

  386. in the process of demonstrating of teaching or

  387. enlightening men angels are observing did you

  388. understand what I'm trying to say yes They are

  389. observing and learning So what Paul is saying

  390. is that the church is the means through which

  391. God reveal his wisdom Are we together? You know,

  392. I hear many Believers say where are you? They

  393. say me I don't go to job. I read the Bible you

  394. are confused and that's exactly what is the diagnosis

  395. of your condition, you understand? Because it's

  396. not you, you will sit at home and just say, I'm

  397. reading my Bible. The intent of God that the

  398. church, you understand, be the one to reveal,

  399. not you, not just sitting down, you understand?

  400. If everybody will sit down at home to read this

  401. Bible, then there is no need for a lot of portions

  402. of this Bible. You understand what I'm saying?

  403. There is no need for leaders, there is no need

  404. for teachers. Amen. Yes, but that's not how the

  405. church is structured. You are not the owner of

  406. the church. You have to adjust to the revelation.

  407. So the wisdom of God means the revelation of

  408. God. Let me read a text here to just clarify

  409. this because it's not just this place that Paul

  410. was talking like that. 1 Corinthians chapter

    1 Corinthians 2 chapter mention

  411. 2, 1 Corinthians 2, let's read another letter

  412. of Paul which you clarify what this means also

  413. because he used that term also look at verse

  414. seven look at verse seven first Corinthians chapter

  415. two verse seven he said but we speak what wisdom

  416. of God in a what mystery you remember what we

  417. just read yes the wisdom that has been hid or

  418. the mystery in the sun well you see that mystery

  419. there is no mystery now because that mystery

  420. has been what as we reveal so that's what we

  421. are reading heeding wisdom of God he said or

  422. then before the ages for our glory was it which

  423. none of the rulers of this age knew did you see

  424. that he said for had they known they would not

  425. have crucified the world the lord of glory did

  426. you see that what we are talking about That this

  427. revelation, that's why I told you when we read

  428. Act 19, you understand? When the evil spirit

  429. says, Jesus, I know. What? Paul, I know. We said

  430. that what know is not talking about revelation.

  431. Are we together? Yes, because it has not been

  432. made known. It is now that is revealed as we

  433. are teaching it. Revealed by the spirit of God

  434. as we are teaching it. They are also. Oh So that

  435. is it. Ah They are keen. They are curious in

  436. a son. They are inquisitive I Mean, are we together?

  437. So he said even the priestess the rulers of this

  438. age is a if they had known That mystery if they

  439. had known that wisdom of God, you know son, they

  440. would not have crucified the Lord of Glory verse

  441. 9 but as it is written eyes had not seen ears

  442. had not heard nor have entered into the heart

  443. of man the things which God has prepared for

  444. those who loved him you know many people quote

  445. this text and say we don't know the things of

  446. God God is mysterious it's mysterious to you

  447. because you have not been reading the bible god

  448. is not mysterious he can't give you those 66

  449. books and you say he's a mysterious how are we

  450. together he came by himself and you say he's

  451. mysterious we cannot know his ways you know quote

  452. this is a quotation in the sand because we will

  453. now quote it and stop there paul was explaining

  454. something But we now quote and just stop. He

  455. said, you see, we don't know the things of God.

  456. This God is mysterious. As the heavens is far

  457. away, so also the ways of God. No, no, no, no,

  458. no. Can you read verse 10 with me? Let's read

  459. verse 10, one, two, three. But God has done what?

  460. Revealed them to us through his word. all glory

  461. to Jesus amen are we together yes God has revealed

  462. them so don't stop at that quotation now it has

  463. been revealed glory to Jesus so it has been revealed

  464. so the things angels desire to look into in 1st

  465. Peter where we read 1 -12, indicate angels were

  466. trying to learn in the sun. They do not fully

  467. comprehend the death and the implication of the

  468. redemption as it unfolds in history and as well

  469. also today in the church. So as the church embodies

  470. and proclaim this mystery, this revelation, God's

  471. wisdom becomes known even to these spirit beings.

  472. So 1 Peter chapter 1 verse 10 to 12 show both

    1 Peter 1:10–12

  473. the prophets and angels were searching. We said

  474. their search was different. The prophets searched

  475. to understand when what they prophesied would

  476. happen. While the angels were looking that is

  477. a desire to understand the truth of salvation

  478. revealed through the gospel so one thing we can

  479. clarify here is that Angels, I mean the prophets

  480. desire to know when the redemption the foretold

  481. will happen angels were curious to learn about

  482. God's wisdom and mercy Towards humanity through

  483. the gospel Therefore With this understanding

  484. that we have had now Did you see that? There

  485. was no way angels could have comprehend righteousness

  486. by feet before Except by the Holy Spirit that

  487. revealed the mysteries now because before it

  488. was heat But now has been revealed there was

  489. no way Angels could have comprehends the mercy

  490. of God Or the righteousness of God through faith

  491. when Moses appointed them in a son in the giving

  492. of the loss So now you remember that text we

  493. read in Hebrews chapter 10 verse 28 that According

    Hebrews 10:28

  494. to the law, there is no what? No mercy. The law

  495. had no mercy. There's no mercy. So this tells

  496. us some of the strange things we saw in the law

  497. of Moses. Some causes, destruction, diseases.

  498. You do this, I do this to you. And of course,

  499. thank God for revelation, thank God for Jesus

  500. Christ. When Jesus came, he tried to set what

  501. is not from the beginning, what is not in the

  502. blueprints in the Son of God. When he talked

  503. about the voice, he said, it was not so in the

  504. beginning. He would tell, he said, you have heard

  505. in the past An eye for an eye, a tooth for a

  506. tooth, what I say to you. That means he's trying

  507. to distinguish, no, no, no, no. This is the character

  508. of God and it's consistent. But something came

  509. in between, transgression, and what you have

  510. was added. If you look at even the giving of

  511. the, even the Ten Commandments, which we have

  512. studied the 10th commandment that is the gospel

  513. right we explain it when jesus talked and explained

  514. it and the apostle explained it they never explain

  515. it as rules what to do today tomorrow yesterday

  516. you know sometimes you say no it is a gospel

  517. however it was given to israel as rules 10 1,

  518. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. For example, the

  519. Sabbath. What? What? So the Sabbath became a

  520. rule. But when the Spirit came, explained, we

  521. saw that the Sabbath means salvation. Did you

  522. get what I'm trying to say? But man, we are using

  523. it as rules. They choose one day to become inactive.

  524. They say they are serving God That that is what

  525. God wanted Today we have many believers like

  526. that The writer of Hebrews told us that no, no,

  527. no, no, it's a we who have believed have entered

  528. into that rest To tell you that that rest is

  529. not just now. He called it that rest you know

  530. that that one he said if joshua had given them

  531. that rest there would not be did you go i'm gonna

  532. say so he was pointing to something that was

  533. from the beginning in fact that was why he quoted

  534. a text in genesis chapter 2 so when god hallelujah

    Genesis 2 chapter mention

  535. now so what i'm trying to say is that That which

  536. is supposed to give life now has become source

  537. of death because it now becomes letters. Are

  538. we together? Amen. We read that text. I want

  539. to read that text again so that to know that.

  540. Look at Romans. We read it. Romans chapter 7

    Romans 7 chapter mention

  541. verse. Romans 7 verse 10. Look at Romans 7 verse

    Romans 7:10 Romans 7:10

  542. 10. I told you that the word law also, because

  543. when you read Romans, it's not talking about

  544. the legalism. You understand? It's not talking

  545. about legalism. He said, what shall we say then?

  546. You understand? is the, I will read only verse

  547. seven first. What shall we say then? Is the law

  548. sin? So this law is not talking about the one

  549. we are talking about. It says, certainly not.

  550. On the contrary, I would not have known sin,

  551. except the law, except through the law, for I

  552. will not have known covetousness, except the

  553. law had said, you shall not covet. Where did

  554. they pick this one? The Ten Commandments. Now

  555. look at verse 10. He said, and the commandment,

  556. which was to bring life, I find it to bring death.

  557. Or if you remove all those italics, he still,

  558. he said the commandment, which to life, I find

  559. to death. Second Corinthians three. He says verse

  560. four, and we have such trust through Christ toward

  561. God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves

  562. to think of anything as being from ourselves,

  563. but our sufficiency is from God, verse six. He

  564. said, who also made us sufficient as ministers?

  565. Of the what? Of the new covenant. He said, not

  566. of letters, but of the spirit. For what happened

  567. to letters? The letters kills. He's talking about

  568. the law. The letter kills, but the spirit gives

  569. life. The spirit gives life. That's what we did

  570. in... our teaching series, part 20 and 21, that's

  571. just what we did. We explained these texts. What

  572. are we trying to say? We're trying to say, when

  573. God gave what we call the Ten Commandments to

  574. Moses, the intent was to be preached that they

  575. will believe it, not to keep it as a performance,

  576. not to observe it as a rule. Did you understand

  577. what I'm saying? But because they observe it

  578. as rules, therefore, they are dead. That's why

  579. we said, up to today, when you go to Israel,

  580. you still find some of them. And some believers

  581. have joined them too. In so many of those keeping

  582. of the law, what's supposed to be believed now

  583. is now kept as rules and regulation. Did you

  584. see how What's supposed to have given life now

  585. we give that Because what is supposed to believe

  586. you refused to believe it and then you carry

  587. it and bring and make it into lose our regulation

  588. Will you ever bring life? No at all? Hallelujah

  589. Amen Now let me let's go back to Colossians now

  590. live So what we're trying to see as the implication

  591. is that Are we together? When you give, when

  592. you employ people, you understand? But this time

  593. around, no people. You employ beings who have

  594. no understanding of mercy, who have no understanding

  595. of righteousness by faith. You understand? or

  596. the revelation through faith. You definitely

  597. will have a product that has no mercy. Are we

  598. together? Amen. You definitely will have a product

  599. without mercy. So when you read and you are reading

  600. the law and you are seeing the cruelty of the

  601. law, just remember the the beings that were involved.

  602. You understand? You will not, you will say, ah,

  603. I see. I see. Hallelujah. Now, let me just look

  604. at something. Probably this is what we will look

  605. at. Maybe a soft heading. The worship of angels.

  606. The worship. angels. Colossians chapter 2. Let's

    Colossians 2 chapter mention

  607. go back to that place where we read. The worship

  608. of angels. Look at verse 11. Let me read from

  609. verse 11. In him you were also circumcised with

  610. the circumcision made with that hands by putting

  611. off the body of sin of the flesh by the circumcision

  612. of Christ. buried with him in baptism in which

  613. you also were raised with him through faith in

  614. the working of God who raised him from the dead

  615. was that him and you being dead in your trespasses

  616. and on circumcise of your flesh he has made a

  617. life together with him having forgiven you all

  618. trespasses verse 14 having wiped out the handwriting

  619. of requirement that was against us, which was

  620. contrary to us. And he has taken it out of the

  621. way, having nailed it to the cross, having disarmed

  622. principalities and powers. He made a public spectacle

  623. of them triumphant over them in it. So he let

  624. no one judge you so let no one judge you in what

  625. in food or in drink or regarding a festival or

  626. a new moon or sabbath which are a shadow of the

  627. things to come but the substance is of christ

  628. verse 18 Let no one cheat you of your reward,

  629. taking delight in false humility and the worship

  630. of angels, intruding into those things which

  631. he has not seen, vainly poofed up by his fleshy

  632. mind and not holding fast to the head from whom

  633. all the body nourished and knitted together.

  634. by joints and ligaments grow with the increase

  635. that is from God. Verse 20, therefore, if you

  636. died with Christ from the basic principle of

  637. the world, why, as do living in the world, do

  638. you subject yourself to regulations? Do not touch,

  639. do not test, do not handle, which all concerning

  640. things which perish with the using according

  641. to the commandment and the doctrine of men. 23.

  642. These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom

  643. in self -imposed religion, false humility and

  644. the neglect of the body, but are of no value

  645. against the indulgence of the flesh. Amen. Look

  646. at verse 18. He said, let no one treat you of

  647. your reward, taking delight in false humility

  648. and the worship of angels. Not that word or that

  649. phrase, the worship of angels. What does that

  650. mean? The word worship there was translated from

  651. the Greek word, trescare. T -H -R -E -S -K -E

  652. -I -A. T -H -R -E -S -K -E -I -A. It means simply

  653. religion. It means religion. That same text was

  654. used in Act 26, that same word, sorry, that same

  655. word. Act 26 verse five. Act 26 verse five. They

  656. knew me. They knew me from the first. If they

  657. were willing to testify that according to the

  658. strict test sect of our religion, that word religion,

  659. I live a Pharisee. So the word religion is the

  660. same word to use in Colossians 2 .18, as worship.

  661. James chapter one. verse 26 and 27, James 1,

  662. 26 and 27. If anyone among you think he is religious

  663. and does not bridle his tongue, but deceived

  664. his own heart, this one's religion, that what

  665. religion is the worship. is useless pure and

  666. undefiled religion again the word religion there

  667. before god and the father is this to visit orphans

  668. and widows in their troubles and to keep oneself

  669. unspotted from the world so you can say the religion

  670. of angels If you don't want to see the worship

  671. of angels, see the religion of angels. So what

  672. practices were Paul referring to as the worship

  673. of angels or the religion of angels? The very

  674. man involving them is in the religion of angels.

  675. He's not in the pure religion that James was

  676. talking about. Are we together? Yes, he is. involving

  677. himself in the religion of angels. Look at verse

  678. 14, maybe some verse in Colossians. Let's go

  679. back a little bit, up a bit, verse 14. Verse

  680. 14, he say, having wiped out the handwriting

  681. of requirements. Those all that come from Africa,

  682. the first thing we read this one, we think about

  683. the spell, the whatever that the, you know, all

  684. those people does that. You understand? But what

  685. is Paul talking about here? You understand? What

  686. is handwriting of the requirements that was against

  687. us, which was contrary to us? That what handwriting

  688. is a word, hierographon. You know, I learned

  689. that CH is still called he. Amen. Or pronounce

  690. he. Hallelujah. The word there is C -H -E, C

  691. -H -E -I -R -O -G -R -A -P -H -O -N. C -H -E

  692. -I. R O G R A P H O N in Greek. It means what

  693. has been written, what has been written, or just

  694. simply a manuscript. For some of us who are in

  695. this, a manuscript just means something you have

  696. written with your hand, amen? What about requirements?

  697. Requirement is the term Dogma in Greek, dogma,

  698. D -O -G -M -A, which refers to a law or a decree

  699. or an ordinance, a law or a decree or an ordinance.

  700. Are we together? So you can just see that that

  701. handwriting of requirements just simply means

  702. a written law. Is that okay? A written what?

  703. Written law. And that written law, it said was

  704. what? Against us. Contrary to who? Contrary to

  705. us. So what Paul is trying to say is that if

  706. you are practicing the law, you are actually

  707. self -sabotaging. You understand what I'm saying?

  708. That means you'll be against yourself. because

  709. the law is not of faith. The law is against us.

  710. So you'll be self -sabotaging, you know, son.

  711. You'll be working against yourself. Hallelujah.

  712. That's what Paul is saying. So if you look at,

  713. if you read from verse 14, and read it down,

  714. you understand? I'll just read some so that you

  715. can see what he's talking about. So actually

  716. Paul is talking about the law. When he talks

  717. about the worship of angels or the religion of

  718. angels, what he's saying is that he's talking

  719. about the practicing of the law, you understand?

  720. That's what he's trying to say. Let's read that

  721. again, verse 14. Having wiped out. the written

  722. law, which is the handwriting of the requirements.

  723. Understand? You know, that word requirement,

  724. even though it has an S, is just a decree. It's

  725. not really like, as I said, it's a manuscript.

  726. You understand? The written manuscript requirement

  727. means law, or decree, or ordinance. You understand?

  728. So wipe out the handwriting. You see, this is

  729. exactly closely related with what the writer

  730. of Hebrew was saying. When you said when Christ

  731. came he take it away or he takes away the first

  732. that he might establish The second you don't

  733. understand trying to say that's what exactly

  734. saying So Which was contrary? Against us which

  735. was contrary to us and He was and he has taken

  736. it out of the way Having nailed it to the cross

  737. verse 15 Then he said having disarm principalities

  738. and powers He made a public spectacle of them

  739. triumphal over them. Don't worry. We'll talk

  740. about this one later on in the sign verse 16

  741. So he let no one judge you I'm sorry So what

  742. what happened by reason of what Christ did right?

  743. He takes away the written law that is against

  744. you that is contrary to you and then he disarmed

  745. principalities and powers he said therefore that

  746. is so do not allow anyone because you have been

  747. saved from that written law that was against

  748. you so he said now let no one judge you in food

  749. or in drink or in or regarding festival you see

  750. he's recounting what the law has been as written

  751. you know something regarding festival or a new

  752. moon, or sabbath, did you understand what I'm

  753. trying to say? Amen. Which are, verse 17, which

  754. are a shadow, you understand, of what? The things

  755. to come. If you read Hebrews chapter nine, chapter

  756. 10, he said, for the law, which is the shadow

  757. of the things to come, did you understand what

  758. I'm trying to say? So when he said the shadow

  759. of things to come, he still is referring to the

  760. law, you understand. because that means verse

  761. 16 is a description of the law are we together

  762. that's why i say wood is a shadow of the things

  763. to come but the substance is of christ then verse

  764. 18 let no one cheat you of your reward right

  765. taking delight in false humility and the worship

  766. of angels so you can don't take delight in the

  767. practice of the law in the sun is it intruding

  768. into those things which he has not seen, very

  769. poofed up by his fleshy mind. The law has a way

  770. of making you feel you are doing something noble.

  771. You understand? It will poof, it will firm your

  772. ego. You understand? That's why it is in grace

  773. that you cannot boast. We see flesh where it

  774. wants to pull up is in the law You understand

  775. that's why he said so that no one should boast

  776. Mm -hmm. You see that's grace. You're something

  777. But when it comes to the law, that is what it

  778. is in the sun. Look at 19 He said I'm not holding

  779. fast to the head because of course if you are

  780. practicing the law, how can you offer to the

  781. head? from whom all the body nourished and knitted

  782. together by joint and ligament grow with the

  783. increase that is from God then verse 20 therefore

  784. if you died with Christ which is true which means

  785. he's saying since you die if you look at this

  786. word if supposed to be since you died but the

  787. translator chose Eve, but he's supposed to be

  788. saints. Since you do what? You died with Christ

  789. from the basic principles of the world. Why?

  790. You see that? Why? As though living in the world,

  791. you subject yourself to regulations. That means

  792. subjecting yourself to the law means living by

  793. the world. That's what you say. You understand?

  794. Verse 21. That regulation, again, he came back

  795. describing the regulation of the law. Do not

  796. touch. Do not taste. Do not handle. I know many

  797. of us, they have been telling us, don't eat titles.

  798. Don't eat catfish. Don't eat pork. That's exactly

  799. the law. You understand? That's the law. Don't

  800. eat this. You understand? Don't eat this one.

  801. You get what I'm saying? All these small thoughts

  802. here, which all concerns the things which perish

  803. with the using, according to the commandment

  804. and doctrine of men. That same law, it calls

  805. it commandment and doctrine of men. These things

  806. indeed have an appearance of what? Wisdom. and

  807. you call it a self -imposed religion. So the

  808. religion or the worship of angels or the religion

  809. of angels is a self -imposed one. You understand?

  810. False humility, the neglect of the body. But

  811. they have no value. Show me somebody who live

  812. by the law. That person can never that person

  813. will be under sin. Will be what? Under sin. Are

  814. we together? So when we come next, we will explore

  815. some thoughts to complete this concerning the

  816. issue of the worship of angels. And what is the

  817. implication? You know, some people, when you

  818. meet some people, eh, it will work for me. That

  819. time when I was sick, I just took bread. I just

  820. prayed. I said, Lord, the blood of Jesus and

  821. the body of Jesus. When I took it, suddenly I

  822. received my healing. He said, it's working for

  823. me. What is the implication of the worship of

  824. angels to the believer? Amen. Before finally

  825. we end up with our text, I think we have explained

  826. it that long to come to that text and explain

  827. what Deuteronomy 22 .5 means. Amen. Glory to

  828. Jesus. Thank you Father for this. We appreciate

  829. you being here today. We hope you cry this word
