  1. Welcome to NECF sermons. Each message here is

  2. designed to uplift and strengthen you in your

  3. walk with God. Don't miss out. Stay with us until

  4. the end for a rewarding experience. Let's dive

  5. right in. So today, the teaching is actually

  6. the defense of the gospel. What we want to talk

  7. about this afternoon is the defense of the gospel

  8. the defense of the gospel The defense of the

  9. gospel And now I like a few things as before

  10. progress writes before progress our light in

  11. a few things The scriptures, okay can we write

  12. that the scriptures answers to itself okay that

  13. the scriptures answers to itself meaning that

  14. scriptures are used to corroborate scriptures

  15. so when you read a scripture and you have a question

  16. is still the scriptures that will answer that

  17. question If we have a scripture, we have questions,

  18. it's still the scriptures that will answer that

  19. question. And you can see that in several patterns

  20. in Jesus' teaching, that scriptures will answer

  21. questions that arise from scriptures. And that

  22. is why when Jesus has been asked questions, as

  23. I think Pastor Victor and many other pastors

  24. that have been here that acknowledge their teaching,

  25. Already point us to how Jesus was answering questions,

  26. right? So they talk about marriage and Where

  27. did Jesus go to answer the question of marriage

  28. the scriptures? right, so Jesus did not stand

  29. out to put up a defense to say that I'm the one

  30. that have the revelation about marriage. She

  31. does not say we in the beginning I was there

  32. I was the one who did it who wrote it down that

  33. they should not be they should be male and female

  34. no he didn't say that right he said from the

  35. beginning he referred to them he referred to

  36. the scripture from the beginning the creation

  37. that's the way made male and female so even jesus

  38. in his answers to questions in his defense of

  39. the scriptures right quoted the scriptures or

  40. referred to the scriptures or more specifically

  41. thoughts from the scriptures. So we can say that

  42. it will be very unfair and unjust of us that

  43. we want to answer scriptural questions and we

  44. quote ourselves. Right? We quote ourselves. Now,

  45. there's a reason why I'm saying that because

  46. tomorrow we are going to deal with uh some theologies

  47. in quotes I call them I mean we also write them

  48. as theologies but they are not theologies because

  49. there's no other gospel right but some certain

  50. teachings when men refer to themselves even Jesus

  51. did not refer to a revelation Jesus never said

  52. I saw a revelation to answer a question but rather

  53. always refer him back in his temptation refer

  54. back to the scriptures in his encounter refers

  55. back with the Pharisees refers back to the scriptures.

  56. So the scriptures answers to itself. Now the

  57. defense of the scripture, our case scripture

  58. is 1 Peter chapter 3. Let's go to 1 Peter chapter

1 Peter 3 chapter mention 1 Peter 3 chapter mention

  59. 3, which is where we find that word defense of

  60. the scripture. 1 Peter chapter 3 verse, I will

    1 Peter 3 chapter mention

  61. put it short. Verse 15. Verse 15. Verse 15, from

  62. verse 15, let's start reading. It's a, but sanctify

  63. the Lord in your hearts and be ready always to

  64. give an answer, right? Which scripture are you

  65. using? Always ready to give a defense. Okay,

  66. good. NKJV. All right, that works. So this, but

  67. sanctify the Lord in your hearts and always be

  68. ready to give a defense. to everyone who asks

  69. you a reason for the hope that is in you, with

  70. meekness and fear. With what? With meekness and

  71. fear. Having a good conscience that when they

  72. defame you as evildoers, those who revile your

  73. good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. We'll

  74. come to this later. Next verse. For it is better

  75. if it is the will of God sober for doing good

  76. than for doing evil. Go back to verse 15 Go back

  77. to verse 15. We'll come back to these other scriptures

  78. verse 15 It's about sanctify the Lord in your

  79. hearts and always be ready to give a defense

  80. Always be ready to give a defense To everyone

  81. who asks you a reason a reason so the defense

  82. of the gospel requires a reason right a reason

  83. the defense of the gospel requires a reason you

  84. cannot just say you know there was one time to

  85. say i'm apologize i'm unapologetic i just do

  86. it you know you can't just do it right you can't

  87. just do it whatever you do which is faith right

  88. what will do is faith are we together so when

  89. we do things there's an explanation in whichever

  90. expression there's an explanation in the scriptures

  91. why we do that so if someone asks you so that

  92. you can't be able to answer this is the reason

  93. this is the reason for the hope that is in me

  94. with meekness and fear now the word reason is

  95. the word apologia okay so we can write down the

  96. word reason is the word apologia So what I want

  97. to do is some levels of apologetics, right? Apologetics

  98. to explain, right? We are not a faith that cannot

  99. be explained by the scriptures. That's why I

  100. say the scripture itself answers to itself. The

  101. scriptures answer the questions that we have

  102. regarding the scriptures. So the word there is

  103. apology. Now, I've been studying faiths that

  104. we're going to talk about tomorrow. One of the

  105. major things that makes you know, right, that

  106. you might be in a cult, right, is when what you

  107. believe cannot be questioned and cannot be explained.

  108. Okay? When what you believe is something that

  109. is said, we just receive it, we don't question

  110. it, and we don't explain it, you are already

  111. in a cult. If you join them, you are in a cult.

  112. But the faith of Christ, Right? The third of

  113. Christ, we can question and receive explanations

  114. from the scriptures. Okay? We can question, ask

  115. questions, and receive explanations from the

  116. scripture. So that word, Apologia, it's a reasoned

  117. answer. It means a reasoned answer. Answer that

  118. is not just shabu -shabu answer, not quick fix

  119. answer, not Key points. It's not key point answer.

  120. It's a reasoned answer. A verbal defense. This

  121. is where we're going. This is what we will do.

  122. We will give a reasoned answer, a verbal defense,

  123. a reasoned explanation. As I said, in this kind

  124. of explanation, you will explain, but you will

  125. not be tired. You will explain and explain and

  126. you keep explaining. This is what we are called

  127. to do. As I said, we will preach the word until

  128. the end of time. We'll keep doing it. We won't

  129. get tired, because that is what we have been

  130. called to do. So it's a reasoned answer, a verbal

  131. defense, a reasoned explanation, right? It does

  132. not mean apologizing for being a Christian. OK,

  133. so you can write it out. It doesn't mean I'm

  134. trying to apologize. No. If I'm giving an explanation,

  135. I'm helping you to clear your confusion. So it

  136. is not apologizing for being. It's not like you're

  137. giving excuse. No, no, no, no, no, no. Apologia

  138. is not excuse. It's reason understanding. You

  139. are opening the minds of people to know why you

  140. believe what you have believed. A reason explanation,

  141. and it does not mean apologizing for being. Rather,

  142. it is actually a thoughtful biblical explanation.

  143. A thoughtful biblical explanation. All right.

  144. So is it thoughtful biblical explanation? It

  145. is given the reason for the faith that we have

  146. in Christ. It is given a reason for the faith

  147. that we have in Christ. Now, notice that Peter

  148. will not, right? Peter will not assume, okay?

  149. Peter will not, okay. All right, Peter will not

  150. assume, right, to say that give a reason when

  151. there will be nobody to ask you. So what it means

  152. is that Peter knew that where these people are,

  153. the context of first Peter, right? Okay, maybe

  154. you should go to chapter one. You will see that

  155. is a place where people would ask you for the

  156. reason of the faiths that you have in Christ.

  157. Now, first Peter. chapter 1 verse 1 Peter an

    1 Peter 1:1

  158. apostle of Jesus Christ to the stranger scattered

  159. Right you see those who he's writing to right

  160. to the stranger scattered through out Pontus,

  161. Dalatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bethany Elect according

  162. to the full knowledge of God the Father through

  163. sanctification of the Spirit unto obedience and

  164. sprinkling of the blood of Christ Grace unto

  165. you, and peace be multiplied. So, he's talking

  166. about believers that are what? Scattered abroad.

  167. Right? He's not talking about believers that

  168. are in Jerusalem. Even in Jerusalem, people are

  169. asking them questions. But he's not talking about

  170. people that are scattered abroad. That people

  171. that didn't know, people that are in places where

  172. they've never probably heard about who Jesus

  173. was. Places maybe they've never heard about the

  174. faith of Christ. To Asia, to Brittany, to places.

  175. that the message of the gospel might not have

  176. been preached, right? So it therefore means that

  177. you will be asked questions, right? So this is

  178. the background. So therefore to say that they

  179. should be ready to give an explanation means

  180. that people will ask them questions, okay? So

  181. we cannot be Christians that people cannot ask

  182. questions. We cannot be believers that people,

  183. people must ask you questions. They must ask

  184. you questions about your faith. That is when

  185. you know that you are in the faith. I mean, that's

  186. a signal that it's obvious now, like in your

  187. conduct, in your lifestyle and everything you

  188. do, people are, this one is a believer. Let's

  189. ask her about the kingdom of God. So at your

  190. workplace, be excited, be ready for people to

  191. say, ah, what do you think about death? What

  192. do you think about heaven? What do you think

  193. about, you know? Life after dates. I have a very

  194. special person in school that always asks me

  195. that question. Just comes lunchtime, just starts

  196. asking those questions. And I'm excited to answer

  197. him. And one thing I also do is I said, this

  198. is what you believe, which we are going to come

  199. there. We're going to come to that. I say, this

  200. is what you believe. This is what you believe.

  201. Thank you. All right. This is what you believe.

  202. And I tell him, this is what we. Christian belief,

  203. right? You see, drawing that boundary would help

  204. us very well. Sometimes we are scared. What if

  205. I tell him that is what I believe and his belief

  206. is different? No, when it comes to apologia,

  207. we're gonna teach us how to approach someone

  208. and say, this is my stand, right? This is your

  209. own stand. We are not standing on the same footing,

  210. right? So people will ask the question. So in

  211. this life, as a believer, always be ready that

  212. people will ask you, don't hide. right don't

  213. hide sometimes we used to hide right don't hide

  214. in fact sometimes when we start reading the scripture

  215. we will see that intentionally people call will

  216. go to a place so that they were asking questions

  217. why because he has an intention to give an explanation

  218. of the scriptures it will intentionally start

  219. the conversation that will lead to them asking

  220. him questions and he will preach So every opportunity

  221. we can be asked questions. So it therefore means

  222. that we will be asked questions and we have to

  223. give an explanation. We have to give an explanation.

  224. Let's go to Jude 3. During the course of the

  225. last three weeks of one month, the good driver,

  226. Pastor Fred, started the foundation of this.

  227. So Jude 3. Can I go to Jude 3? Jude 3. Beloved,

  228. while I was very diligent to write to you concerning

  229. our common salvation, I found it necessary to

  230. write to you, exhorting you to contend earnestly

  231. for the fates, which was once all delivered to

  232. the saints, right? To contend earnestly for the

  233. faith that was once delivered to us, the saints.

  234. So it therefore means that in these faiths that

  235. we have, right? We are going to face people.

  236. That is one thing we must know, right? We are

  237. going to face people that will ask us questions

  238. and we have to contend for the faiths. So we're

  239. gonna face people they're gonna access series

  240. of questions series of question series of question

  241. Okay, all right so therefore means that we must

  242. be ready right at all times to give an answer

  243. To defend the faiths that we have to defend the

  244. faith that we have. Now, please, can you tell

  245. me which of the words that I translate to as

  246. Apologia? The reason, right? Can you go back

  247. to that scripture, please? Can you go back to

  248. 1 Peter 3 verse 15? 1 Peter 3 verse 15. Use KJV,

    1 Peter 3:15 1 Peter 3:15

  249. let me see. Okay, and be ready to always give

  250. an answer. Okay, the word answer is actually

  251. the apologia. So please, can you correct that,

  252. right? The word answer is actually the word apologia,

  253. right? The word answer is actually the one that

  254. carries the word apologia. And the word reason

  255. is logos, which is the word, right? Explanation,

  256. right? So the word answer, please correct that,

  257. is the apologia. The word reason is the logos.

  258. So it means that the word answer, okay, is the

  259. apologia. The word logos is the reason. Means

  260. that it is something that is explained, spoken,

  261. talked, okay? Means that something that is explained,

  262. something that is spoken, something that is talked,

  263. right? Something that is talked. So the answer

  264. is the apologia that we are providing. for the

  265. people the apologia there we are explaining and

  266. we are using logos which is word to explain the

  267. reason of our faith so it means like this altered

  268. speech the logos is altered speech right what's

  269. that is being said right the saints the saints

  270. and we know that this same is the same that is

  271. found in the word of god okay this logos is the

  272. same the teachings the words that is found in

  273. god all right so We can come together to say

  274. that we should be ready to give an answer, Apologia,

  275. to anyone who asks us to give an answer for the

  276. reason why we believe what we believe. It means

  277. that we have to give an explanation. So this

  278. is what is expected in the life of every believer.

  279. Now let's go to Acts 23. Acts 23. Acts 23, from

  280. verse 1. Acts 23 from verse one. Okay, go to

  281. 26. Go to 26. I wanna show us an example. This

  282. one, 23 will be very long. Go to 26. Because

  283. if we go to 23, we have to read the long, little

  284. bit long. Just go to 26. Then Agrippa said unto

  285. Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself.

  286. Then Paul stretched forth the hand and answered

  287. for himself. Paul stretched forth his hand and

  288. did what? And answered for himself. So Paul actually

  289. has been arrested, right? The context of this

  290. is that Apostle Paul has been arrested, right,

  291. for preaching the gospel. And you know, the same

  292. pattern. Jesus was arrested, right? Accusations

  293. was placed before him, right? And they bring

  294. him before Herod, okay? It's the same pattern.

  295. Paul preached the gospel, was arrested, and they

  296. brought him before Agrippa. Agrippa is also King

  297. Herod, just having a title, Agrippa II. So the

  298. same pattern, right, is what is happening here.

  299. So he has been brought before two leaders, right?

  300. It was before first two in verse... In chapter

  301. 25, right? In chapter 25, you go from verse 23.

  302. And on the morning when Agrippa was come and

  303. Bennis, the great Tom, and was entered into the

  304. place of the hearing, the chief and the captains

  305. and principal men of the city, at Fester's commandment,

  306. Paul was brought forth, right? Paul was brought

  307. forth. And Fester said, King Agrippa, all men

  308. which are here present with us, And yet see this

  309. man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews

  310. have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem and also

  311. here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.

  312. Does it sound like what he did to Jesus? Does

  313. it sound like what he did to Jesus? Yes. So a

  314. servant is not greater than his master. Example

  315. in Paul's life. What he did to Jesus, he did

  316. to Paul. So they said he ought not to leave the

  317. Jews They said he ought not to leave from Jerusalem

  318. and those that are here. But when I found that

  319. He had committed nothing worthy of death. Does

  320. he also sound a game like what's happened to

  321. Jesus before Pontus Pilate? Are we together?

  322. It's a pattern said I find nothing in the in

  323. the in the life of this man that is worthy of

  324. death He's about argument and debates about your

  325. Jewish rights about what concerns you, and is

  326. only stating his point of view, his position

  327. on the matter of faith, why should it be put

  328. to death? You know, Romans, they reason. Romans,

  329. they reason. So they can't find anything. In

  330. fact, from their own point of view, to debate

  331. in theaters is a normal system of, you know,

  332. whatever development they have, philosophies

  333. and all of that. So for him to stay the position

  334. is not a crime. So they couldn't find anything.

  335. So the same thing here, after Festus has examined

  336. him, of course it was from Felix, now Festus.

  337. What I found out that he had committed not in

  338. worthy of death, and that he himself had appealed

  339. to Augustus, I have determined to send him, of

  340. whom I have no certain thing to write on to my

  341. Lord. Wherefore I have brought him before you,

  342. especially before the old King Agrippa, that

  343. after examination had, other examination had

  344. I might have so much to write for it seemed to

  345. me unreasonable to send a prisoner not and not

  346. without to signify the crimes laid what against

  347. him means there was no crime against him right

  348. it means to defend the gospel to preach the gospel

  349. there's no it's not a crime even in you know

  350. the Roman system and now it's not a crime because

  351. this is what Paul did. Then Agrippa said unto

  352. Paul, thou art permitted to speak for thyself.

  353. Then Paul straight forth the hand and answer

  354. it for himself. I think myself happy, King Agrippa,

  355. because I shall answer for this day before thee

  356. touching all things, whereof I am accused of

  357. the Jews. Right? So Paul was there to do what?

  358. To give an answer. Now, do you think Paul was

  359. there to give an answer pertaining himself? No,

  360. Paul wasn't there to give an answer pertaining

  361. himself. He was actually there to preach to them

  362. again, to give an explanation of the gospel again.

  363. Right? To give an explanation of the gospel.

  364. Now observe, especially because I know you need

  365. to be an expert in our customs and questions,

  366. which are among the Jews. Right? So it's a matter

  367. pertaining to questions and customs among the

  368. Jews. Wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.

  369. My manner of life from my youth, which was the

  370. first among my own nation at Jerusalem, know

  371. all the Jews. So they knew him, and the kind

  372. of person he was, which knew me from the beginning,

  373. which they would testify that after the most

  374. strictest sets of our religion, I leave a Pharisee.

  375. And now I stand and I'm judged for the hope of

  376. the promise made of God unto our fathers. Started

  377. explaining. I am being judged on the hope that

  378. God made, on the hope of the promise that God

  379. made to our Father. So Paul was standing there

  380. and explaining to Agrippa an explanation he has

  381. done in several places and giving an apology

  382. of why he believed what he believed, right? Onto

  383. which promise our 12 tribes and we're going to

  384. speak and in verse 9 it says I've already taught

  385. with myself that I ought to do many things I've

  386. already told myself that I ought to do many things

  387. contrary to the name of Jesus which thing I do

  388. I also did in Jerusalem and many of the saints

  389. did shut up in prison having received the authority

  390. from Christ from chief priests and when they

  391. put to death and they were put to death including

  392. steven I gave my voice against them and I punished

  393. them and he explained all of this now verse 14

  394. and when uh no no from from verse 12 whereupon

  395. as i went to damascus to continue the persecution

  396. with authority and commission from the chief

  397. priest at midday okay i saw the way a light from

  398. heaven above the brightness of the sun shining

  399. around me and then and we then we journeyed with

  400. me and when we were all falling to the earth

  401. i heard a voice speaking unto me and saying in

  402. the hebrew language in the british Saul Saul,

  403. why persecuted thou me? It is hard to kick against

  404. the pricks, right? So we had that reading as

  405. well. Now let's see, he quoted Jesus, let's look

  406. to verse 19. Whereupon, O King Agrippa, I was

  407. not disobedient unto this heavenly vision, but

  408. showed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem,

  409. and throughout all the coasts of Judea, and then

  410. to the Gentiles, that they should repent and

  411. turn to God, and do works meets for repentance.

  412. To do works meets for repentance. For these causes,

  413. verse 21, the Jews caught me in the temple and

  414. then they were about to what? To kill me. Right?

  415. So he wasn't saying anything than the fact that

  416. he had an encounter with Christ and that encounter

  417. changed him. because this is what was promised.

  418. That encounter changing and onto that, because

  419. he's preaching in this name, that is why they

  420. have found him. Now he started explaining that

  421. long verses and the explanation continue. Now

  422. let's see, let's see something that happened

  423. in verse 24. Verse 24. I think I'd like to read

  424. from verse number two, sorry. Having therefore

  425. obtained help of God, I continued on to this

  426. day, witnessing both to small and great, saying

  427. none other things than those which the prophets

  428. and Moses did say should come. Again, explaining

  429. that this is what has been promised to the Father,

  430. this is what the prophets said, this is what

  431. I am saying. So the explanation of Paul was also

  432. in accordance to what has been written. in the

  433. scriptures. Are we together? So Paul's explanation

  434. is also in alignment to what has been written

  435. in the scriptures, right? So the apologia of

  436. Paul is from what has been written in the scriptures.

  437. What has been written in the scriptures. Verse

  438. 23, that Christ should suffer and that he should

  439. be the first that should rise from the dead and

  440. show and should show lights unto the people and

  441. to who? The Gentiles. To show light on the people

  442. and the Gentiles. And I suspect for himself in

  443. an apologian explanation answer to why he's been

  444. held. What did Fester said? Fester said with

  445. a loud voice, Paul thou art beside thyself. Much

  446. learning doth make thee mad. Now, This okay much

  447. learning much may be mad now then restore faces,

  448. but I said I am not mad most noble festers but

  449. speak forth the words of truth and words and

  450. Sobhan is for the king knoweth this things for

  451. whom I speak freely Right and the students have

  452. said King Agrippa believers believers now the

  453. prophets. I know now believers So God give an

  454. explanation that's made people that make festers

  455. to say you are you are out of your mind like

  456. you are out of your mind and he said no i'm not

  457. out of my mind Agrippa think Agrippa can bear

  458. witness to these things that it has been said

  459. by the prophets right because don't forget he

  460. said you are a man that knows about the customs

  461. are we together so we are the man that knows

  462. about the custom and Agrippa and he asked him

  463. you see a very way to catch someone when you

  464. are doing evangelism after you have said everything

  465. don't wait for the person to say what now no

  466. no no wait for the person to say what now you

  467. cannot preach and you wait for the person to

  468. say what now basically i tell you that's a good

  469. speech you know i like that i like rito i've

  470. seen people said that yes i'm telling you really

  471. i've seen people say you do as a believer you

  472. don't wait you ask them straight do you believe

  473. do you believe right you don't wait Some people

  474. say, wow, that was a good speech. In this environment,

  475. it's quite common. They can come to your church,

  476. and they will hear the sound. So you guys play

  477. good music. I like the dance in church. I like

  478. the way people clap in church. Please don't accept

  479. those things. Ask the person, do you believe?

  480. When the person tells you, I like the way you

  481. guys dress on Sunday to church, you guys are,

  482. that's an opportunity. So really, you like the

  483. way we dress to church? Let me tell you why we

  484. dress to church like that. Then you preach the

  485. gospel. and you explain, you ask the person,

  486. do you believe? Now let's see what Agrippa said,

  487. Agrippa verse 27, King Agrippa, believers thou

  488. the prophets and I know that thou believers,

  489. and Agrippa said unto Paul, almost thou persuades

  490. me to be a Christian, almost persuaded me to

  491. be a Christian. It means that, this is what it

  492. means, let me tell you what this means, it means

  493. that Paul presented every evidence with doubts,

  494. doubts. It means that beyond the reasonable doubts,

  495. you know, beyond the reasonable doubts, Paul

  496. presented that Christ is the Messiah and through

  497. him, the penance, forgiveness of sins will be

  498. given. He presented beyond the, but because of

  499. the hardness of man, He said, you almost persuaded

  500. me. I don't know why Agrippa didn't believe,

  501. probably because Festus was there, probably because

  502. of the culture and the people was. Sometimes,

  503. you know, leaders, they don't want to believe

  504. in a public place, right? They like to, you know,

  505. it's pride. So what we see here is that beyond

  506. reasonable doubts, two people, one said is mad.

  507. Because for you to collect those things together,

  508. your mind must really be beyond. You must have

  509. a supernatural mind to bring that together. And

  510. then, So what we see is that in our apologia,

  511. people must be persuaded. They will not reach

  512. halfway. You can say to yourself, in my explanation

  513. of the gospel to someone, they will be persuaded.

  514. They will be persuaded. They will come to believe.

  515. They will come to believe. They will come to

  516. believe. So, let's go to Acts chapter seven,

  517. verse one. Acts chapter seven, verse one. Again,

  518. then said the high priests, are these things

  519. so? So they were asking Stephen, right? They

  520. were asking Stephen, after all the accusations

  521. around him, right? So, it is expected, you know,

  522. Mbemfaba will still come there. Part of the things

  523. that come with apologia, explaining the scripture,

  524. is persecution. In these two cases, they are

  525. calling them to explain. The expectation of the

  526. Jews is that maybe they will change their mind

  527. about what they believe, and then we will preserve

  528. them. But Paul and Stephen did not change their

  529. mind. And they said these things, and then the

  530. hybrid said, are these things so? And he said,

  531. men and brethren, fathers hacking the God of

  532. glory appeared onto our father Abraham again

  533. referring to what God has promised us for time.

  534. He has promised a long time ago when he was in

  535. Mesopotamia before he dwelt in Cairo. Now look

  536. at those people they are not just quoting John

  537. 3 .16 like are you getting it? It's not just

  538. one scripture they are coming from the Old Testament,

  539. from the prophets, to begin to explain in detail

  540. about the message of the gospel. So the Apologous

  541. Gospel is the detailed explanation beyond reasonable

  542. doubt. The detailed explanation beyond reasonable

  543. doubt. So it says, God appeared unto our father

  544. Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia before he

  545. dwelt in Corinth and said unto him, get the out

  546. of their country now this explanation went okay

  547. until verse 53 verse what 53 so they were listening

  548. to a preaching an explanation a defense of the

  549. gospel that was what they listened to a defense

  550. of the gospel the answer of steven to what they

  551. were asking him. So the defense of the gospel

  552. is very long. You should be prepared. So if you

  553. want to give up, it's not something you just

  554. quickly, that's why we say, that's why we see

  555. that. You see that in this church we pay attention

  556. a lot to teachings. As much as we can do anything

  557. on a Sunday service, on a Sunday service, the

  558. teaching time remains what? At least one hour,

  559. if you have observed. Because the explanation

  560. of the gospel, has to be detailed. The reason

  561. is because you don't want to leave the person

  562. in confusion. And that's why Pastor Victor was

  563. saying that such kind of an explanation or a

  564. teaching that does not explain the gospel cannot

  565. produce life, cannot produce eternal life, cannot

  566. produce faith in someone. So you have to be detailed

  567. in your explanation of the gospel, in the answer

  568. that you give people. So we say that people will

  569. ask us questions, right? People will ask us questions.

  570. It might be for persecution. It might be for

  571. people to know, right? But one thing that is

  572. certain is that they will ask questions. Now

  573. let's see some demonstrations of explanation

  574. of the gospel in the Old Testament, right? So

  575. it's like more or less tracing themes of apologetics

  576. in the Old Testament. Answers where people are

  577. being taught. or told, or there's a practice

  578. of it in the Old Testament. So most of the time

  579. we want to pick it from there because whatever

  580. we are doing today that we found in the New Testament,

  581. right, must have been found in the Old Testament

  582. as well, what we call the Old Testament text.

  583. So we can trace something in the Deuteronomy

    Deuteronomy 6:20–25

  584. 6 verse 20 to 25. Deuteronomy 6 verse 20 to 25.

    Deuteronomy 6:20–25

  585. good and when thy son asketh thee in time to

  586. come saying what mean the testimonies and the

  587. statutes and the judgments which the Lord our

  588. God at commanded you so it means that you they'll

  589. wake up one day and begin to say why do we observe

  590. the Passover what is the Passover for why do

  591. we keep the showbread why do we have all of this

  592. then thou shall say unto thy son we were once

  593. pharaohs born men in egypt and the lord brought

  594. us out of egypt with a mighty hand stop that's

  595. that's that's a picture of god's salvation so

  596. it is from here they'll begin to explain to them

  597. this is what happened to us and this is the message

  598. now go to verse 22 Verse 22 and the Lord show

  599. signs and wonders great and so upon Egypt upon

  600. Pharaoh and upon all the household before our

  601. eyes next and it brought us out from this that

  602. he might bring us in to give us the land which

  603. is swore unto our fathers and the Lord commanded

  604. us to do all the statues to fear the Lord our

  605. God for our good always that he might preserve

  606. us alive as it is at this day and five and he

  607. shall be our righteousness if we observe all

  608. to do all these commandments before the Lord

  609. our God as he has commanded us so we see that

  610. he said that a generation will come and you would

  611. need to give an explanation of why you are doing

  612. what you're doing right a generation will come

  613. we'll come to that when we start picking why

  614. we need apologetics we will come to that we'll

  615. come back to this scripture again all right exodus

  616. 12 26 to 27 the same scriptures exodus 12 26

  617. to 27 just write that down exodus 12 26 to 27

  618. exodus 13 verse 14 so here verse 12 says, what

    Exodus 13:14

  619. mean ye by this service? So it will be practices,

  620. it will be service, it will be whatever they

  621. do as a nation. 13 verse 14, Exodus 13 verse

    Exodus 13:14

  622. 14. And shall be when thy son access thee in

  623. time to come, what is this? That thou shall see

  624. unto them by the strength of the Lord, by the

  625. strength of hand, the Lord brought us out of

  626. Egypt from the house of bondage. Again. explaining

  627. so you can just write those scriptures down the

  628. scriptures down joshua 4 6 to 7 joshua 4 6 to

  629. 7 observe that observe that in this explanation

  630. is like some things were set in place and those

  631. things triggered a question okay some things

  632. were set in place and those things triggered

  633. a question So when it comes to apology, it might

  634. be your lifestyle that somebody will just see

  635. and will ask you, why are you living like this?

  636. Why are you not the aggressive type? Why are

  637. you not the one that just live without principle?

  638. Why are you so kind? Why are you so loving? So

  639. through that, you find the means by which you

  640. can explain extensively why we believe. words

  641. we believe so just four six to seven it tells

  642. you that there were stones right uh that this

  643. may be a sign among you that when a children

  644. asks the same thing what's minutes these stones

  645. in this case stones stones now some 78 verse

  646. 128 my people to my law and incline your ears

  647. to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth

  648. in a parable and I'll utter dark sayings of old

  649. which we have heard and known and our fathers

  650. have told us we will not hide them from their

  651. children we will not hide them from their children

  652. showing to the generation to come the praises

  653. of the Lord and his strength and his wonderful

  654. works that he had done wonderful works that he

  655. had done for he established a testimony in Jacob

  656. and appointed the law in Israel and he commanded

  657. our father that we should make them what known

  658. to our children right known to our children now

  659. let's write these other scriptures Micah 6 1

  660. to 5 Micah 6 1 to 5 I'm also going to give one

  661. again these ones are teachings right This was

  662. our teachings, teachings, teachings, teachings.

  663. Let's say one that the defense of the gospel,

  664. right? You know, it's almost the only example

  665. that it happened in a very practical way, right?

  666. In a very practical way. Let's go to 1 Kings

  667. 18, 1 Kings 18 20 to 39, where the prophets who

  668. has been preaching to them, right? 1 Kings 18

    1 Kings 18:32

  669. verse 32, 39. If you're there. Now, so here I've

  670. sent all the children of Israel and gathered

  671. the prophets, and they came onto Mount Camel.

  672. And Elijah came onto all the people and said,

  673. how long holds here between two opinions? If

  674. the Lord be God, follow him. But if bow, then

  675. follow him. And the people answered him, not

  676. a word. Then Elijah said unto the people, I,

  677. even I only remain a prophet of the Lord, but

  678. Baal's prophets are 450 men. Let them therefore

  679. give us two bullocks. Let them choose one bullock

  680. for themselves and cut it into pieces and lay

  681. it on the wood. And put no fire under it, and

  682. I will dress the other bullock and lay it on

  683. the wood and put no fire under it. next and call

  684. you on the name of your gods and I will call

  685. you on the name of the Lord and the God that's

  686. answered by fire let him be God and all the people

  687. answered and say it is well spoken right in this

  688. case there is no teaching right in that sense

  689. but what we observe is that he was providing

  690. evidence to them by signs I want us to say that

  691. God is God right God is God so that's a demonstration

  692. demonstration so we can say that in apologia

  693. right in explaining the demonstration of the

  694. spirits okay the demonstration of the spirits

  695. can aid in our explanation of the gospel or will

  696. aid us in our explanation of the gospel the demonstration

  697. of the spirits so you are teaching someone about

  698. jesus and you have preached to the person and

  699. you call the person and say, can I pray with

  700. you? You hold the person's hand and the person

  701. receives instant healing. So the demonstration

  702. of the spirit comes with, can hear those or will

  703. hear those in the explanation of the gospel,

  704. in our prologue. Good. Now let's go back to 1

  705. Peter 3, 15. Let's go back to that first Peter,

  706. which is our key scripture. It says, was sanctifying

  707. the Lord in your hearts. Now let's talk about

  708. sanctifying the Lord in our hearts, right? Santification,

  709. I don't know. What does this mean? It is simply

  710. to set the Lord aside, is a form of a consecration,

  711. right? So what this means is that above all,

  712. right? There is a place. where you have a concentration

  713. that's any time you are ready to give an apology,

  714. an explanation, an answer about the gospel. So

  715. again, let me say it. Being ready to give an

  716. answer about the gospel is concentration and

  717. is sanctification. You are sanctifying yourself.

  718. Being ready always to give an answer about the

  719. message of the gospel is your concentration,

  720. is your sanctification. It means you are set

  721. aside. It means all the ideologies in this world.

  722. You are set aside that when you are called, when

  723. you are asked, you are ready to give. So that

  724. is consecration. Because that is why I say, but

  725. sanctify the Lord in your hearts. In today's

  726. world, you say the Lord has a special place in

  727. my heart. He has a special place that if you

  728. just touch any wrong doctrine, I would be kind

  729. to explain to you that you are not representing

  730. God well in your teaching. So it means that you

  731. are ready. You are ready. It's not being apprehensive,

  732. but being ready. You are just ready to teach

  733. someone. You are ready for someone's knowledge

  734. to increase and come to faith. So that sanctification

  735. there means when you are able to give an explanation,

  736. It means you are putting yourself in a state

  737. of consecration. Now, it matches with Isaiah

    Isaiah 8:13

  738. 8, verse 13. So we can go to Isaiah 8, verse

    Isaiah 8:13

  739. 13. Isaiah 8, verse 13. It says, sanctify the

    Isaiah 8:13

  740. Lord of hosts himself, and let him be your fear,

  741. and let him be your dread. Sanctify the Lord

  742. of hosts himself. Now, this is a situation. where

  743. they were facing enemies. And it says, sanctify

  744. the Lord of hosts himself and let him be your

  745. dread. So it means that you hold on. Now go to

  746. verse 20. Let me read them together. Verse 20.

  747. It says, so the law unto the testimony, if they

  748. speak not according to the words, it is because

  749. there is no light in them. If we read it a little

  750. bit. me open them from my scriptures then we

  751. can get a little bit of a context of what is

  752. happening there and then we can build on that

  753. so it's like they're facing uh isa 8 sorry let's

  754. open it quickly all right good so if you read

  755. from verse Verse one, so the Lord said unto me,

  756. take thee a great school, a great rule, and write

  757. it in a man's pen, consigning Melchaleh as bash.

  758. And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record

  759. Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of, the

  760. name is there, right? Verse three said, I went

  761. unto the prophetess and she conceived. Now this

  762. is in a situation of distress, actually, in Israel,

  763. right? It's in a situation. of distress. Of course

  764. we know Isaiah was talking about where they were

  765. in distress. Now verse 7 says, now therefore

  766. be you the Lord bring upon thee the waters of

  767. the river and the waters of the river strong

  768. and many even the king of Assyria and all is

  769. glory and he shall come up over all the channels

  770. and go over all the banks and he shall pass through

  771. Judah he shall overflow and go over and go over

  772. he shall reach even to the neck of the outstretched.

  773. Right so the whole context here right is Israel

  774. right being in distress Israel being in exile

  775. and this is Isaiah prophesying and verse from

  776. verse 11 says for the Lord spake thus to me with

  777. a strong hand and instructed me that I should

  778. not walk in the way of these people saying saying

  779. not a confederacy to all them to whom these people

  780. shall say a confederacy neither fear their fear

  781. nor be afraid was sanctified the Lord right so

  782. it's like holding on to the God's testimony in

  783. a circumstance right holding on to God's testimony

  784. in a circumstance if you keep reading it says

  785. and it shall be for a sanctuary but for I shall

  786. be for a sanctuary but for a stone of stumbling

  787. and a rock of offense to both the house of Israel

  788. and for a jinn and for its net to the inhabitants

  789. of Jerusalem and many among them shall stumble

  790. and fall and be broken and be snared and be taken

  791. bite of the testimonies to seal the law among

  792. my disciples so it's mainly emphasizing if people

  793. set aside right sanctify the Lord our voice himself

  794. and letting be your fear so the fear here right

  795. is talking about reverencing God in a circumstance

  796. okay so reverencing God in a circumstance so

  797. we can say that to be ready to give an account

  798. of the gospel is actually a reverence to God

  799. in that circumstance. So be ready to give an

  800. account and explain the teaching and say this

  801. is what the scripture says is actually reverence

  802. to God. So if you want to reverence God, if you

  803. want to honor God, if you want to fear God in

  804. the words of Isaiah is that you are always willing

  805. to give an account. Now let's now see, the next

  806. thing is, why do we need apologetics? Is it just

  807. for the fun of it? Is it just to show that I

  808. know Bible? No, definitely not. Definitely not.

  809. Why do we need apologetics? That's the next subheading.

  810. Why should I be so engrossed in the scriptures

  811. that I can explain the scriptures from Genesis

  812. to Malachi and to Revelation talking about the

  813. message of God? Why? Why is it important? Why

  814. is it important? The first thing is that a generation

  815. would rise. A new generation would rise. Or I

  816. think I wrote it there, a new generation will

  817. always rise. A new generation will always rise.

  818. Today you have, I mean, let's even use the scientific

  819. way of saying it. You have Gen Z, right? After

  820. Gen Z will be done, you have Gen Alpha, right?

  821. It means that new people would come. Right? And

  822. they will come, a new generation will always

  823. rise. Just like the children of Israel are the

  824. new generation that knew not the law or what

  825. God has done. And that is why they were instructed,

  826. write it down. Let the stones be there. Let the

  827. book be here. Let the statues be there. Why?

  828. So that even before you say you want to teach,

  829. your children will do what? They will ask, why

  830. are we doing this? Right? Why are we doing this?

  831. So a new generation will always rise. Now we

  832. are a new generation. This generation is totally

  833. different from mine. In my generation, I mean,

  834. I'm still very young. I think the way I'm saying

  835. it is looking as if I'm old. But being in, let's

  836. say, in my 20s, let's wait. I think we can say

  837. that now, right? Being in my 20s, you can say

  838. that now, right? Sometimes I used to feel myself

  839. still very young. Now, in my own 20s, Which,

  840. of course, even before my 20s, the zeal and passion

  841. we have for God, I beg to say that is different

  842. from this generation. I really do beg to say

  843. that the zeal that we have, this generation looks

  844. a little bit cold. I'm sorry to say. Now we didn't

  845. have all the revelation. We just had one thing.

  846. Jesus followed. That's it. We were reading all

  847. manner of books. We fell into the ones that are

  848. good. We came out. We fell into the ones that

  849. are good. We held on to it. So we fell into the

  850. ones that are bad. We came out. The ones that

  851. are dangerous. Then one thing we held on to this

  852. one. Right? In my own time, they don't, they

  853. don't compare you to come to church. You want

  854. to be in church. Like they don't have to, you

  855. know, you have to save money. They don't tell

  856. you to save money. You trick. It's not a joke.

  857. We trick from Goyeli to Fuwa. They are here,

  858. at least people that were here. And it's not

  859. here we started. We started from far back home.

  860. where you go and carry the speaker with your

  861. head. I'm not saying that you should not desire

  862. comfort in this time, but when it's not available,

  863. then stretch. Stretch. So a generation will come.

  864. In fact, the way we did, you know, now we're

  865. saying, okay, rich canonicals, we're trying to

  866. push each other. Some of us came here three months

  867. in Cyprus to down the Bible. I'm not kidding.

  868. What were you doing? You go to school, you go

  869. to church, you come back home. Where? No club,

  870. nothing. They don't do anything. No social activities.

  871. We're sitting down. So sometimes I try to understand

  872. the zeal. So it means that in this generation,

  873. we need to do what? To teach the zeal of my father's

  874. house. Right? We need to do what? We need to

  875. teach the zeal of God's house. We need to teach

  876. it again. I remember sometimes we were going

  877. to meet in Pastor Frey's house. That time, now

  878. the transfer system is very good in Cyprus. right

  879. we have class now that time going early boss

  880. will stop at seven seven thirty and we'll have

  881. meeting in pacifist house in probably in other

  882. coin or yenikent area and we are living in merits

  883. i know some of you two are doing that tricks

  884. now so we'll get bishop will carry a guitar we'll

  885. be singing and be trekking till we get to merits

  886. but some people got started knowing us that these

  887. people always come back playing guitar and all

  888. of that and I'm saying that this thing did not

  889. started here what happened here in this is because

  890. we already had the zeal and the truth about the

  891. matter is another generation will rise truly

  892. not maybe because it's not about zeal or maybe

  893. because it's a generation where is the internet

  894. generation every gospel everything is online

  895. right your short message is the someone that

  896. works for you you know attention span all of

  897. the it therefore means that we need to explain

  898. the zeal again of my father's house to us right

  899. so generations will come and things will change

  900. but one thing that must be consistent that we

  901. must keep emphasizing the importance of the gospel

  902. we must keep emphasizing now it's better i don't

  903. know their generation i'm praying for them you

  904. know trusting god That is why it is not wrong

  905. for them to be praying now. So that when they

  906. grow, they'll say, daddy, what is these tongues?

  907. Then we can teach, right? Why do we go to church?

  908. Then we can explain, right? Because that is the

  909. way they will be preserved. So generations will

  910. come. Generations will come. And things will

  911. change. Many systems will change. So we must

  912. be ready. Right, I think it was first was saying

  913. past I was asking about some questions that didn't

  914. come out From the scriptures stretch on that.

  915. It is not a context of Paul or Peter But yet

  916. we have to from the wisdom of the scripture answer

  917. those questions is the same explain Just like

  918. pastor Fred pastor Victor did The bunting or

  919. the feminist and all those ideologies and those

  920. supremacists and all of that. We must be able

  921. from the scripture to explain what is the will

  922. of God. So, Apologia, therefore, is for us to

  923. be ready for energy. Now, the word of God, the

  924. scripture, is transgenerational. You must acknowledge

  925. that. So, whether you are A, B, C, D, E, F, depending

  926. on the category they put you, or you are the

  927. one that live wilderness and you are the one

  928. that is entering Canaan, it doesn't matter. The

  929. word of God is transgenerational. Therefore,

  930. it will stand. So it is for any generation. Any

  931. generation. Therefore, that's why we have to

  932. repeat it. We don't have to update it. Those

  933. ones that are trying to make it the language

  934. of today, try to make it, the Lord is my friend.

  935. We. They are putting in, the Lord is my shepherd.

  936. They are changing it to something else. There

  937. are translations, if you touch. Yes. They are

  938. giving things like that. So you have to avoid

  939. all of those things. You don't need to keep it

  940. the way it is. So we must keep it our soul. That

  941. is one. A new generation will come and they deserve

  942. thoughtful answers. Now you must know that you

  943. owe the generation to come a thoughtful answer

  944. about the scripture. You owe them that. We owe

  945. them because it's instruction from God. We owe

  946. them that. You will give back to children. That's

  947. another thing. Your kids will come. They will

  948. ask you. they will tell you somebody told me

  949. outside that I can be a boy and a girl at the

  950. same time and you will need to explain that and

  951. you will tell me with scripture if you are not

  952. grounded in the scripture so we must know that

  953. generations will come will give back the children

  954. and we owe them one thing that the word of God

  955. will not be scarce in our generation the word

  956. of God will not be scarce in our generation yeah

  957. so the next one is Reason why we need apologetic

  958. teacher, there are some sincere teachers that

  959. needs to be corrected. And I mean the word sincere

  960. teachers that mean to be corrected. Now, sincerity

  961. does not excuse wrong doctrine, okay? Sincerity

  962. does not excuse wrong doctrine. There are some

  963. sincere teachers that needs to be corrected.

  964. Sincerity does not excuse wrong doctrine at all.

  965. It doesn't. Wrong doctrine is wrong doctrine.

  966. Whether you know it, whether you don't know it,

  967. wrong doctrine is wrong doctrine. But accepting

  968. correction is honorable. Yes. But accepting correction

  969. is honorable. It's honorable. Accepting correction

  970. is honorable. For the first one, Deuteronomy

  971. 6 .20 still stands for a new generation will

  972. rise. The 206 -20 still stands for that, for

  973. the first one. The second one, Acts 18, verse

    Acts 18:24–28

  974. 24 to 28, Galatians 2, 11 to 14. For the second

  975. one, some T, some synthesizers that needs to

  976. be corrected, Acts 18, verse 28 to 24, 24 to

  977. 28, sorry, and Galatians 2, 11 to 14. Acts 2

  978. Timothy 3, 16. 2 Timothy 3, 16. Now in Acts 18,

    Acts 18:24–28

  979. verse 24 to 28, you can see a sincere teacher,

  980. Apollos, okay? He was sincere, teaching, okay?

  981. Those are sincere. That's a sincere teacher.

  982. He was eloquent in the world. So eloquent is

  983. also not revelation, okay? Eloquent is not revelation.

  984. So he was sincere in what he was teaching. but

  985. it was not accurate it was sincere and it was

  986. eloquent yet not accurate sincere and eloquent

  987. yet not accurate we know the scripture so we're

  988. not going to read it and we'll move please don't

  989. let my time disappear and reduce just bring it

  990. back thank you all right so let's read peter's

  991. case calatians 2 verse 11 to 14 let's read peter's

  992. case and when peter was come to aunt george i

  993. was stood in to the face because it was to be

  994. blamed for before the starting before that starting

  995. came from James he did eat with the Gentiles

  996. but when they were calm he withdrew and separated

  997. himself fearing them which were of circumcision

  998. now go back go back to go back to uh that scripture

  999. let me see uh go back to the first verse that

  1000. I that I mentioned, right? Galatians 2 .11. Now

1001. look at it. He said, I withstood him. It means

1002. that Paul, right, approached Peter. Why? Because

1003. he was to be blamed. What was to be blamed? I

1004. think some transitionists put it very well, that

1005. he stood condemned, right? What that means, we

1006. are going to dig deeper into it. It means that,

1007. let me tell you what that means, a four time.

1008. It means that Peter provided evidences that Gentiles,

1009. Peter, I'm saying Peter not Paul, are part of

1010. what God is doing. Peter practiced that, okay,

1011. and that is why he hurts with the Gentiles, and

1012. I'll say that with them. Do you get? Now, when

1013. someone else came, some circumcision party, Peter

1014. now stood before them. I saved the evidence of

1015. what he did is wrong. That is what it means.

1016. So Peter stood before them as if he did the wrong

1017. thing. Like I presented evidence to you. We're

1018. gonna see it when it comes to Apologia. This

1019. thing I'm teaching is very important for Apologia.

1020. You know why? Because one of the things that

1021. would happen is that Apologia is actually to

1022. make people, go back to the scripture. You just

1023. put that, I need that word blame there. Apology

1024. is actually to make people to stand blamed. Actually,

1025. it's also another word is ashamed. Now it is

1026. not to shame somebody. It is not to insult somebody

1027. because when I explain spiritual, I'm not saying

1028. to insult you, right? We're gonna see that is

1029. either blamed or ashamed. You can use either

1030. of the two because they refer to the same thing.

1031. It means that you have provided all evidences

1032. that this is true. Someone now comes and begin

1033. to say something. And you now feel, ah, this

1034. thing is not true. You now felt this thing is

1035. not true for all the evidences that you provided.

1036. This is what happened to him here. So he felt

1037. like, ah, maybe all these things that I'm teaching

1038. is not true because some people came. That is

1039. why Paul had to stand before him and say, no,

1040. there is more than sufficient evidence. So the

1041. things that you did and you teach, there is more

1042. than sufficient evidence. So you should not stand

1043. blamed. Why should you stand blamed? Why should

1044. you stand as if the evidences and the life you

1045. live is not what Christ expected? So he said,

1046. no, you cannot stand blamed. You cannot stand

1047. condemned. But when we are preaching, right?

1048. We're going to come to that. When we are preaching

1049. and we are speaking to someone, What we want

1050. the person to do is to see that amidst all their

1051. evidences, the scripture supersedes. Right? And

1052. that will be that to show them that this evidence

1053. from the scripture supersedes so that they can

1054. discard their evidences. We're going to see that

1055. even from tomorrow. So what we'll see here is

1056. that they are sincere. Now, is Peter a sincere

1057. teacher? Yes. Is Apollo a sincere teacher? Yes.

1058. They are not doing it for their bellies. They're

1059. not doing it for their belly. That's what I mean

1060. by a sincere teacher. And they are also receiving

1061. what? Correction. They're also receiving correction.

1062. The next one, which I think for this one we will

1063. see it's correct. The next one is false teachers,

1064. mockers, and scoffers. Why we need apologetics?

1065. False teachers, scoffers, mockers. False teachers,

1066. mockers, and scoffers. must be answered so that

1067. others are not deceived. They must be answered

1068. so that other people will not be deceived. So

1069. you cannot allow somebody to just be saying something.

1070. Now, I'm not saying online. Please don't quote

1071. me. I'm still talking about in an environment.

1072. This has not gotten to that, right? So we are

1073. somewhere and someone is teaching what is not

1074. correct. I can approach them and correct them.

1075. I said again that false teachers, mockers, and

1076. scobards must be answered so that others are

1077. not deceived. Right? Romans 16, 17 to 20. Romans

  1078. 16, 17 to 20. Now I beseech you brethren, mark

1079. them which cause divisions and offence, contrite

1080. to the doctrine ye have received, and avoid them.

1081. Next. For they that are such serve not our Lord

1082. Jesus Christ. Did you see? This group is different

1083. from Peter and Apollos. Are we together? This

1084. group is different from Peter and Apollos. He

1085. said those, these ones, they are not serving

1086. our Lord Jesus Christ. Peter and Apollos, they

1087. are serving the Lord Jesus. But their own belly,

1088. you see, and by good words, words, hold on to

1089. that good words, and fresh pitches, they deceive

1090. the hearts of the simple. Verse 19. For your

1091. obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad

1092. therefore on your behalf But yet I would have

1093. you wise unto that which is good and simple concerning

1094. evil means talking to them about this people

1095. and God of peace shall bruise Satan under your

1096. feet shortly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ

1097. be with you. Amen So the instruction is to these

1098. people that cause division. How do they cause

1099. division because division by first pitches first

1100. pitches, you know Let me use the word of Pasto.

  1101. They use literature. Maybe, I don't know, I'm

1102. trying to find the word for it. You know, they

1103. put words together, right? They put words together.

1104. I don't want to say the very popular one so that

1105. it doesn't look like Aspire to Paspire, you know,

1106. those kind of a thing. Those kind of very sweet

1107. words, right? They bring it together. Now, again.

1108. They are using the scripture to do this thing.

1109. They are using the scripture to do this. So first

1110. speeches, speeches are very attractive, very

1111. attractive, right? This is what they are doing,

1112. good words to lure people away. So now go to

  1113. 1 Peter 3 verse, 1 Peter 3 verse 16, let's see

    1 Peter 3:16

1114. what is there. Okay. He said having a good conscience.

1115. Now from verse 15, we already have established

1116. what is happening in verse 15, right? Good verse

1117. 15, let's read it quickly then we'll come to

1118. 16. But I'm sorry, the Lord, the God in your

1119. heart and be ready always to give an answer to

1120. every man that ask it, that ask get you a reason,

1121. right? Of the hope that is in you with meekness

1122. and fear. The next one, having a good conscience.

1123. Now see, having a good conscience that whereas

1124. they speak evil of you, as evildoers means that

1125. in their evidence you you are evildoer. Now what

1126. will happen to them? They may be ashamed that

1127. falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

1128. They may be ashamed that falsely accuse your

1129. good conversation in Christ. So don't forget

1130. the conversation is coming from sanctify the

1131. Lord to give an answer right? So your answer

1132. right that they may be ashamed that firstly accuse

1133. you of your answer in Christ's okay the answer

1134. you are giving them they will be ashamed now

1135. what is our shame our shame is able to put them

1136. to shame no it simply means that by evidences

1137. what I explained right all evidences that you

1138. will present they will see that this one that

1139. we are holding is not the evidence of Christ

1140. do we get it put more scriptures put more scriptures

1141. where we need to put them. Luke 3 .16, let's

1142. just write them down, then we'll read them. You

1143. will see the opposite of ashamed, right? This

1144. ashamed that they use here. You will see the

1145. opposite of it soon when we read the scriptures.

  1146. Luke 3 .16, 2 Corinthians 10 verse 8, Philippians

    2 Corinthians 10:8 Philippians 1:20

  1147. 1 verse 20. Luke 3 verse 16, 2 Corinthians 10

    Luke 3:16 2 Corinthians 10:8

  1148. verse 8. Philippians 1 verse 20, sorry. So let's

    Philippians 1:20

1149. go to Luke 3 verse 16, please. Luke 3 verse Luke,

    Luke 3:16

1150. not second, okay. All right, so in these scriptures

1151. you will see, and then as I send on to them,

  1152. I did, sorry, is that a scripture I need? That's

  1153. quite interesting. Where's the 2 Corinthians

  1154. 10 .8? Let's go to that one. Let's see. Luke

1155. 3 .15. Use the hearts. Just go to 2 Corinthians

    2 Corinthians 10:8

1156. 10 verse 8. For though I should boast somewhat

1157. more of our authority, which the Lord had given

1158. us for edification, not for your destruction,

1159. I should not be ashamed, right? This is the same

1160. word there, right? Though I should boast somewhat

1161. of our authority, which he had given us for edification,

1162. right? And not for your destruction, I should

1163. not be ashamed. It means that by the evidence

1164. of knowing the authority God has given me, right,

1165. it is for your building, lest I will be ashamed.

1166. Let's be ashamed. The next scriptures are Philippians

1167. 1 -20. That's the one that will give us this

1168. quickly. According to any expectation and my

1169. hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed. So really

1170. according to the ns expectation and my hope that's

1171. in nothing I shall be ashamed but with all boldness

1172. as always and so now also Christ shall be magnified

1173. in My body whether is be life or by dead. So

1174. look at it is it that's in nothing I shall be

1175. ashamed but what's What's that with all boldness?

1176. So it means that when I come to teach and I explain

1177. and I give an answer pertaining the power and

1178. demonstration of God and the suffering of Christ

1179. and his glory and his ascension in me, when I

1180. give evidences to it, those false teachers will

1181. lose their boldness. Do you get it? It is Sean

1182. profane babbling, right? You know there are scriptures,

1183. Sean profane, that is it. So we would not, they

1184. will be shut up, right? They will lose their

1185. boldness. So it's not like, you know, they'll

1186. come out, they have boldness to teach, right?

1187. But when they see sufficient evidence, like Elimas

1188. saw the teachings and the miracles, right? I

1189. feel it did, right? And what happened? It dropped.

1190. It dropped, right? So what happened is that when

1191. sufficient evidence is presented, people who

1192. are false prophets will lose their boldness.

1193. Muckers and scoffers will lose their boldness

1194. when evidence is beyond reasonable that as we

1195. teach so of course uh the scripture we put there

1196. is sufficient right to take now first emotive

1197. four verse 16 you can add it you can add that

1198. to it first emotive four verses said take heed

1199. unto thyself and unto thy doctrine continuing

1200. them for in doing this thou shall save thyself

1201. and them that hear thee so one of the things

1202. why we have to teach and explain scripture apologetically

1203. is that we will save people we will save people

1204. we will snatch people from the hands of the enemy

1205. right we will snatch people from the hands of

1206. the enemy so that's one of the reasons why we

1207. have to explain so that we can save you know

1208. the people from wrong doctrine Good, the first

1209. one is that there will be persecution and you

1210. need boldness to speak. Okay, there will be persecution

1211. and you need boldness to speak. Now we've seen

1212. that in the case of Stephen, we've seen that

1213. in the case of Apostle Paul, right? We've seen

1214. that in both cases and in all the lives of the

1215. disciples, we've realized that when there is

1216. persecution, there is always an answer. for the

1217. gospel so you cannot be persecuted and they ask

1218. you why are you being persecuted and you cannot

1219. give a comprehensive answer of why you have been

1220. persecuted so persecution will come and you must

1221. give an answer right you must give an answer

1222. first Peter 3 17 the first Peter just go to verse

1223. 17 first Peter just go to the verse 17 of that

1224. first Peter he said it is better if the will

1225. of God be so that you suffer for well doing than

1226. for evil doing. What is well doing here? To give

1227. an answer for the gospel, right? Well doing here

1228. is to give an explanation for the gospel and

1229. if you suffer for that you say let it be so.

1230. It therefore means that persecution or giving

1231. an answer for the gospel would come with that

1232. or persecution will require you to explain further.

1233. what Christ has done. So you need boldness. You

1234. need boldness to teach, to explain why you have

1235. been, you know, some will say, at least in the

1236. course of it, a number of people will be saved.

1237. But you have to preach the right message. In

1238. the course of being persecuted, a number of people

1239. will be saved. I think Masfredo was telling me

1240. that someone went to debunk, you know, some religious,

1241. you know, false teachings and in the place of

1242. having a conversation over the doctrine of a

1243. particular religion and our religion and our

1244. faiths rather two people give their lives means

1245. two people believed and they followed Christ

1246. on the sports and within that confinement that

1247. environment they killed the person who gave the

1248. defense right that's a game painful but again

1249. right that's a game Paul was saying, for me to

1250. leave is Christ, right, to die is gain. That

1251. is how much painful is it? Two people on the

1252. spot. That is great, right? But how did he do

1253. it? Sufficient evidence so that these people

1254. became ashamed and they didn't know how to respond

1255. than to kill. Sufficient evidence. If you tell

1256. that man if he was alive I asked him would you

1257. like this kind of story I bet you he will say

1258. no matter how painful I think is a good one so

1259. persecution will come and it is the reason why

1260. we need sufficient evidence right sufficient

1261. evidence you know let me let me put it funny

1262. if you want to die for the gospel die for the

1263. correct one like make sure what you are teaching

1264. is the correct one is what dying for right so

1265. be sure So that's why we need to pay attention

1266. to these. So just put scriptures, Acts 7, Stephen's

1267. story again, is another one, Acts 7 in that context.

  1268. Acts 4, 29 to 30, Acts 4, 7, just put chapter

1269. 7, chapter 7 is fine, across all chapter 7. Then

1270. Acts 4, 29 to 30, that you will grind unto thy

1271. servant, with all boldness they might be able

1272. to do. That is why it's apologia when you say,

1273. should we listen to God or we should obey man?

1274. They cannot say obey man. They cannot say obey

1275. man. They know that you should listen to God.

1276. You should do what God requires you to do. So

1277. that's an apologetic approach to approach people

1278. who are hard -hearted. Now, the fifth one, which

1279. is the one we are going to deal with tomorrow.

1280. very well, we're going to deal with this tomorrow

1281. very well, is we need apologetics because of

1282. groups that are misrepresenting the Bible. Put

1283. it that way. We need apologetics because of groups

1284. that are misrepresenting the Bible. Now, it is

1285. different from, you see, if you are false prophets,

1286. right, it's okay. One here, there. But when they

1287. become an organization, it's more deadly. If

1288. you have one or two prophets, one by one, we

1289. can hold them, right? We can just share ourselves

1290. here and we can go and teach. But when it becomes

1291. an organization, it becomes a very deep problem,

1292. right? So, and the influence is spreading. So

1293. we need this, right? Because of this group that

1294. represents the... the scriptures now the interesting

1295. thing is that most groups want to found a foundation

1296. in the bible like everybody wants to use the

1297. foundation as the bible like you want to start

1298. your conversation your story is from the bible

1299. your it's either you say oh the bible is corrupt

1300. then you build your own or you say after the

1301. bible we collect another revelation why is it

1302. the bible it shows the that shows the authenticity

1303. of the bible if it's not authentic if you use

1304. or roomil as book, it will not be a problem.

1305. We're not even gonna discuss anybody that did

1306. not touch the Bible here. But if you touch the

1307. Bible, we will discuss you. Yes, that is it.

1308. Because you pick the Bible as the authenticity,

1309. and we all know the authenticity of the Bible,

1310. and you build a wrong doctrine on it. So as a

1311. result, those groups needs to be touched upon

1312. gradually, because when you go out, those are

1313. the people you meet. Now, if you meet, if you

1314. meet, a nominal person, right? The person doesn't

1315. have arguments. They don't have much, right?

1316. You are too loaded, right? So even you, you're

1317. trying to just put them within Romans 10 and

1318. John 3 .16, right? You're not going to bend hell

1319. to him, you know? The uniqueness and the appearance

1320. of, you're not going there. You're just giving

1321. them, you're giving them little. But you see

1322. this group. They went to study that Ben Elohim

1323. and interpreted it wrongly. And they gave it

1324. to people to swallow. That is unfaithfulness.

1325. Okay? So these people that are unfaithful with

1326. the Bible, they are unfaithful. That one we cannot

1327. condone, right? We need apologetics for those

1328. ones because they are not propagating the Bible.

1329. Now under them, let's quickly touch to... We'll

1330. touch one or two there about... So under this

1331. five, can you just put A, right? Just put A.

1332. Those who assume we are same. Those that assume

1333. that we are same, right? There are people who

1334. assume that we are same, we are the same. You

1335. know, we serve the same God. And this one is

1336. common in this environment. Put at 14 .11. At

1337. 14 .11, let me show you. People who thought apostles

1338. were same with them. And when the people saw

1339. what Paul had done, They lifted up their voices

1340. saying, in the speech of Laconia, the gods are

1341. come down to us in the likeness of men. They

1342. assume that it is the God that they have been

1343. serving, right? That appear to them in the person

1344. of Apostle Paul. Right? So there are people who,

1345. when you manifest or you do something, they'll

1346. say, oh, we are the same. We are serving. Now

1347. look at verse 12. Go to verse 12. And they called

1348. Barnabas Jupiter. And they called Paul's Macurius.

1349. Because he was the chief speaker, next, then

1350. the priest of Jupiter. Can you see? They called

1351. a service immediately, which was before the acidity,

1352. brought oxen and gallants onto. We are not the

1353. same. It's something else. Let's see how the

1354. apostles responded. no no come back to the previous

1355. scriptures and brought garlands onto the gates

1356. and would have done sacrifice to the people right

1357. with the people rather next which when the apostles

1358. them when the apostles brother buds and poor

1359. head of they rent their clothes and ran in among

1360. the people crying out go to the next verse now

1361. that rents in and they just are they just like

1362. they what would i say they just spoil the show

1363. there you know if is a if they were not believers

1364. let's say they were not apostles right the moment

1365. you see that they have made you influencer right

1366. what will you do you're gonna follow us right

1367. you gotta follow us and before you know everywhere

1368. the city they've made you the king jupiter and

1369. more mercurius but look at their response and

1370. saying sas why do you these things why do you

1371. these things we are also men we are also a man

1372. of light passions with you and preach unto you,

1373. that ye should turn from this thing, this same

1374. thing that you are doing, that you want to do

1375. unto us, unto the living God, which made the

1376. heaven and the earth and the sea and all the

1377. things that are therein. Who in the past suffered

1378. all nations to walk in their ways, nevertheless

1379. he left not himself without weakness, in that

1380. he did good and gave us rain from heaven and

1381. full seasons, filling our hearts with food and

1382. gladness. And with this saying, Scarce restrained

1383. they the people, that they had not done sacrifice

1384. unto them. And there came Tita, certain words,

1385. Jews, from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded

1386. the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him

1387. out of the city, supposing he was dead. So, of

1388. course, you know what the Jews do, right? This

1389. is their style. They look for a crowd, right?

1390. They look for a crowd, and within the crowd,

1391. right, they create a rebellion. They create a

1392. rebellion. They create a rebellion that creates

1393. a problem for the apostles. So they couldn't

1394. preach. Now if those Jews were not there, maybe

1395. they would have sat down and they would have

1396. taught them continuously. We have the ones that

1397. they were saying to the unknown God. And from

1398. there, we're going to see that much more. I think

1399. very closely now we might have to see that. So

1400. we have people who might find unifiers, but there

1401. are no unifiers. Is it that you're here or you're

1402. not here? So we have that. Now one of the things

1403. we must convince them of, convince them, one

1404. of the things we must convince them of is that

1405. although, right, humanity is the handwork of

1406. God, right? Humanity, all of us being humans,

1407. right? We are created, right? Humanity is the

1408. handwork of God, right? Means God created humans,

1409. means created Adam and from Adam we are procreated

1410. and as a result we say God created humanity,

1411. right? God is not the father of all. God is not

1412. the father of all. Although God creates humanity,

1413. right, without whom there will be no breath of

1414. life in any man. God is not the father of all.

1415. God is not the father of all. Acts 17, 24 to

1416. 27. Acts 17, 24 to 27. Now you see here, it says,

1417. God that made the world and all things therein,

1418. seeing that his Lord of heaven and earth dwelleth

1419. not in temples made with hands, neither is neither

1420. is worshipped with man's hand as though he needed

1421. anything seeing that he give it to all life and

1422. breath and all things and had made of one blood

1423. all nations of men for to dwell on all the face

1424. of the earth at the time in their times before

1425. appointed and bounds of their habitation right

1426. that they may seek the lord if aptly they might

1427. feel after him and finding though he be not far

1428. from every one of us. So it's talking about God

1429. creating a people within this earth, okay? It's

1430. not saying that he's the father of all. So God

1431. creates, that's why saying that they should seek

1432. the Lord that they might find him. Okay, that

1433. they should seek the Lord that if he's talking

1434. to, if he's talking about that those people that

1435. God created are believers and he's talking about

1436. the creation in Christ, he would not be saying

1437. they should seek the Lord and find him because

1438. they found God. So it was coming from explanation

1439. of a general creation, right? Explaining to those

1440. who say to the unknown God. From that point,

1441. it was coming to explain the gospel to them.

1442. Right? So we can acknowledge that, well, we did

1443. not exist. No man, no person created any man.

1444. God created Adam, and from there, we exist. So

1445. we can agree. But to say that he's the father

1446. of all, no. So he's not the father of all. Neither

1447. is he the God of all. Hallelujah. Neither is

1448. he what? The God of all. He's not the father

1449. of all. He's not the God of all. Everybody knows

1450. their father. Ephesians 2. Ephesians two. Ephesians

1451. two. From verse one. And you hear at quick in

1452. who we are dead in trespasses and sin. When in

1453. the past year worked according to the course

1454. of this world, according to the prince of the

1455. power of air, the spirit that is at work in the

1456. children of disobedience right the spirit that

1457. is at work in children of disobedience so it

1458. means that the children of disobedience in this

1459. world there are people now is this one talking

1460. about believers that have come to believe right

1461. but it simply refers to people who are working

1462. according to a spirit that is not a spirit of

1463. god and therefore god cannot be their father

1464. and neither will he be their God. Now if you

1465. read when Jesus is talking to the Pharisees,

1466. right, it tells them, it says, you know your

1467. father, right, it talks about your father the

1468. devil and his activities from the beginning.

1469. So it means that the source of what they are

1470. doing is from the devil. So when people see us

1471. and say, oh we serve the same God, we serve,

1472. you have to ask them, what do you mean? Tomorrow

1473. we are going to see that. The way people have

1474. used terminology, even salvation, It's worse

1475. these days because even in movies, you'll be

1476. seeing atonement. You'll be seeing salvation.

1477. You'll be seeing deliverance in movies. And this

1478. has become the order of the day. And people are

1479. believing this thing. So we must know that we

1480. are not the same. Now let's look at the second

1481. one. The second group on that is five. Those

1482. who believe Christianity is perverted, right?

1483. or the Christendom is perverted. Those who believe

1484. Christendom is perverted. They literally go after

1485. it and say, in fact, some of them refuse to call

1486. themselves Christians, or they say the Christendom

1487. that we practice, Christianity is perverted.

1488. And the third one is those who believe they are

1489. totally different from us. Those who believe

1490. they are totally different from us. Now, what

1491. is As we close, what is our responsibility? We're

1492. gonna see more of it tomorrow. Our responsibility,

1493. right, towards them. First, it's still love,

1494. right? It's still love, but much more. Much more.

1495. Holding on to the faithfulness and integrity

1496. of God's word in our explanation to them. Holding

1497. on to the... faithfulness and the integrity of

1498. God's Word in our explanation to them. Why did

1499. I say love? Because most of these groups, right,

1500. they actually, they're actually anti or antagonistic

1501. towards the gospel. Clearly antagonistic towards

1502. the gospel. Clearly, what I mean clearly, they

1503. go, I mean, they come and say, this is, you know,

1504. this is not a faith. right so so our job to them

1505. is clearly love and faithfulness in or to the

1506. integrity of God's word so the integrity of God's

1507. word so we'll stop here for today so that we

1508. can continue tomorrow we still have a whole lot

1509. to cover but as we go one thing i want us to

1510. go is to have a mindset that you will study the

1511. scripture sufficiently enough to be able to explain

1512. the message of salvation, that there will be

1513. no subjects, there will be no question, right?

1514. I'm trusting that after this meeting we are going

  1515. to prepare a material, I think that's a question

1516. raised that matter at some point in time, that

1517. we're going to prepare materials, right, for

1518. us, that you will have those materials and when

1519. you go out before the person says anything you

1520. know where the person is coming from and in love

1521. you will explain to the person and bring the

1522. person out of darkness into the marvelous line

1523. of price. Hallelujah. Can we begin to pray? We

1524. appreciate you being here today. We hope you

1525. carry this word with you throughout your week.
